Teresa Mon 5/16/11 #57 Mini-cap and Discussion

Vivi was kind enough to give us a great minicap and to post to the feed. --Thanks, mucho, amiga!  Her minicap follows:

Aurora and Martin are super cute together and kiss. Mariano is totally jealous and Dario points out that he likely feels more than friendship for Aurora but missed the boat.
He later apologizes to Aurora for acting like a jerk. Hector takes Juana for a dinner with Aurora and Martin at his home, and the four have a lovely time and make a lovely foursome. Too bad both these two good guys are the 2nd choices for these two ladies.
Hector sends Juana a huge bunch of roses and flowers to cheer her up, but Cutberto (in a not so cute move) pretends they’re from him, earning some scorching kisses from Juana.
Martin and Teresa finally meet in his capacity as Paloma’s lawyer and she is very rude to him. Martin sticks it to her by not giving her the confidential documents regarding Luna Turquesa since she doesn’t have power of attorney yet, and by making her sign for the fundraiser invitation (so that she can’t deny it was delivered and HAS to give it to Arturo). Teresa later tells Arturo that they should go to the fundraiser. She looks like she has a plan.

Refugio hears about Teresa not wearing Juana's wedding dress (from who else, Cutberto) she comforts Juana, but warns her that's how it started with her. Then it was all downhill from there with the way Teresa treated her. Juana looked worried.
Rubigote convinces Genoveva that it’s not convenient for either of them if Maira divorces him. He would lose access to Maira’s money to invest in their business, and Maira would discover how he’s been fleecing her.  Plus, society would judge Geno more harshly than him if the truth came out.  Geno enlists Rube’s help to track down Fito.
Maira is weakening because she just loves Rubigote so much.  Aida tells her to stay strong and kick the Bigote to the curb.
Knowing that Arturo is listening, Teresa “confesses” to Luisa that she flung her engagement ring in the ocean when she thought Arturo was doing her wrong by associating with Paloma. (We know she still has that huge rock tucked away somewhere.)
Refugio gives Espe her first baby gift—yellow knitted booties. So sweet!
Teresa tries to make up with Aurora and wants to know all about her new boyfriend and meet him (ha!).  She makes some digs at Aurora about getting fat since her new bf’s family owns a chain of restaurants and he’s been taking her out to a bunch of them.  She also can’t resist rubbing it in Aurora’s face that Mariano will never get over Teresa.
Aida continues her plan to win Mariano over. She brings all her wedding gifts to the vecinidad and proposes a raffle/BINGO night to get rid of all the gifts and raise money for the clinic.  Her appreciation of Mariano’s assets (physical and intellectual) is growing, but she still can’t wrap her head about the paradox of this guapo doctor being a taxi owning (and washing) naco. She gives Mariano a well-timed hug of appreciation when she see’s Teresa approaching. Teresa is impactada!

Hello, again. I'm still not caught up on this show. I got the flu and with the double eps, fell a week behind in no time. I'm trying to get caught up! Maybe now that they are down to one ep per night, I'll be able to.

Firefox doesn't support Delicious anymore, so I don't have the bookmarks. Are you all still using the bookmarks?

If you can't access Delicious, you can find the post on the other feed: http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default/-/Teresa?max-results=300

Thanks for this recap Vivi. You covered all the important points.

I was really disappointed in Cutberto and the rose switch. I know Hector is a second choice (and his wife is bound to show up) but moves like that and his endless gossiping make me tire of Cutberto. Juana would be a great step-mother to Aurora.

Thanks Vivi - being down to one episode took a bit of getting use to last night. Seem to fly by so fast.

So Teresa wants another ring. what is she planning on doing, cashing in the others?

I could have throttled Cutberto last night. Could not believe he pulled that with the roses. I so hope the doc asks Juana how she liked HIS flowers. Why do they always have to have the people nice characters wind up with be jerks through most of the TN, and the nicer ones go off into the sunset? Juana deserves the best - and Cutie may be just that, but he's still a gossip and a jerk in my book.

Martin is growing on me - still like Mariano and Aurora, but if she has to wind up with Martin, not so bad. Love the way he handled Tere. She definitely added him to her enemies list.

Aida....Aida. Looks like Mariano is fresh bait again. I get she wants back at Tere, but she sure had a non-Pablo moment there staring up Mariano. Poor sap. (Mariano that is.)

Have to say, Refused-to-be-a- mench, for once, came thru for some folks and showed a little more heart than usual. So she's okay with Espe's pregnancy and gave Juana some concern without being overly snippy. Of course, she then went off the deep end on hubby's new job, so she was back in some Refuse-to-be-supportive mode again. What the heck does she want this poor man to do?

It was totally rude of Teresa to give Refugio that manners book, but maybe she should read it. There's probably something in there about being gracious. "What?! This man wants to give you a decent, responsible job with a good salary, because of personal connections?! Is that REALLY what you want?!" Um, yes please. How does she think most people get their jobs? Why must she constantly insult her own family members by insisting they're not worthy of the salary an employer wants to pay them? So rude.

LOVE watching Martin stick it to Teresa. He's going to be entertaining. Smart, funny, nice, easy on the eyes. I like this guy.

Teresa sure is spreading that manure story of why she HAS to wear the Vera Chang dress far and wide. How long until someone mentions it to Arturo or Luisa?

Thanks Vivi for the recap. Well we all know Arturo will buy Teresa another engagement ring. In the previews I saw, Teresa is holding up both rings and the other ring has an even bigger diamond (reminds me of GWTW when Rhett gave Scarlet an obscenely huge ring).

Aída is pushing Teresa's buttons flirting with Mariano and of course Teresa has to keep informing Aurora that Mariano will never get over her while taking digs over her supposed weight gain.

Not a cute move of Cutberto pretending that he bought those roses. I wonder will Hector tell Juana he sent the flowers.

I'm worried about what Teresa has planned for the fundraiser.

Welcome back Jeri. I have missed you.

Thanks Vivi. Great quickie recap.

Martin is my new hero; he handled Teresa perfectly. I even did a rewind so I could enjoy the scene twice. I enjoy watching Tere when she doesn't get her own way.

I thought Cutberto doing the rose switch was quite funny, although ill-conceived. I'm pretty sure it will come back to bite him and he deserves it. Yes, he is a huge gossip and very immature, especially compared to Hector the Director. Yet I like the fact that he is very goal-oriented. Lucky Juana.

Thanks again Vivi!

I like Martin- but hopefully if he and Aurora hook up she will take him shopping or hire him a stylist! I cannot handle anymore turtlenecks!!!!!

Thanks for the recaps everyone! I so enjoy this site!!! I was a little said the 2 episodes are over- but now I can get back to my life!!!

It's time for Armando to refuse the refuse he gets over this job. Let's hope nothing bad happens to this one.

Cutberto needs to have his mouth sewn shut. Juana is also going to be furious with him when she finds out that Hector sent the roses.

Teresa's list of sins grows with every episode. She's already committed 5 of the 7 so only Gluttony and Sloth remain.

For your amusement: the word confirmation for this post is nowsia.

thanks Vivi,
very good summary, I am so relieved that the 2 hr programs have stopped.
It is too bad Cuteberto is kind of a loser, because he is very amusing. If Juana was independently wealthy she could keep him around for fun.

Thank you Vivi!

Loved your minicap, especially" Too bad both these two good guys are the 2nd choices for these two ladies". Yes, absolutely. Hector is looking better is each successive scene and as many have already pointed out, Cutberto is becoming more annoying. Ack.

Sylvia, I also delighted that Martin was able to get Teresa in a snit. So happy to see her not get her way (at least with this)...Appalled she told Arturo she lost her ring (although that probably wasn't even the biggest lie she told that day) :)

Jeri, hope you are feeling better!

Karen, I agree - Juana would be the perfect step mother to Aurora.

Diana

ViviDC: Thanks again for helping out!

Jeri: Glad to see you on the board again, amiga! We missed you.

Shenny: Welcome!

Sorry, guys but I am as guilty as Juana of loving Teresa despite the crap she pulls, because, although it goes over the line at times, some of those who got hurt deserve it in spades: Geno, Paulo, Ruben, and AIDA!

Vivi, thanks for the mini-recap. I agree with you, two really great guys are the second choices for our Aurora and Juana, too bad, they should be at the top of their lists.

Martin was so super COOL with Teresa, I watched that exchange twice too.  We've had to watch our little shark swim circles around our panting galans. Finally we have someone who was immune to her "charms" ......yeah!  His "let's dance" comment was so sweet and funny, Aurora..... wake up!

Mariano NEVER smiles, does anything ever make him happy?

Refugio is the most cocksure, self righteous character ever, so often wrong, but never in doubt. I see where Teresa gets her over the top gumption, her Madre!

Jardinera: I also like Teresa, albeit a bit less considering how she crushed Juana by rejecting her beautiful wedding dress.

I still loathe Aida and agree that Teresa is her only formidable foe.

Diana

Vivi thanks for the great recap and for helping out.

The more i see Martin and his interactions with Aurora and Teresa the more i am liking him.

Looks like Mariano is starting to see how it will feel without Aurora's shoulder to cry on about Teresa.I really can't see him going there with Aida other than kissing her. If he takes the next step he just might lose out on Aurora forever. Besides he should know already what Aida is all about too and how she has degraded and made fun of him in the past.

Kudos to Aurora for trying to move on from Mariano finally and i love the way she is talking to and dealing with Mariano.

Sandy so agree about Refugly my goodness no wonder Teresa gave her that manners book she really does need to read it.Armando needs to leave this woman she needs to take her stuck up pride and narrow minded ideas and see how it helps pays her bills and rent.

Jardinera i also agree i love Teresa a typical heroine would be crying and sniveling in the corner by dealing with the likes of Ruben,Paulo,Geno and Aida but not our little shark. Love the way she goes after these enemies just wish she wouldn't pull Espe into her revenge and not step on and over Mariano and Juana.

I loved Martin this episode too. He put Teresa in her place, in the most gentlemanly/calm way ever. Can't wait till she finds out he's Aurora's boyfriend.

I hated the way Teresa was trying to make these subtle digs at Aurora's self esteem, while at the same time pretending to try to get their friendship back on good ground. Just like what she did when Luisa told her about making love for the first time. I don't think Aurora was buying it though. She always looks skeptical these days when she speaks to Teresa. I wish she and Luisa would become bffs and dump Teresa.

"she sure had a non-Pablo moment there staring up Mariano" LOL daisynjay! Indeed, Aida was enjoying watching Mariano caress his car and having some impure thoughts. :)

Sorry that I forgot to mention the whole etiquette book/new job for Armando thing. The whole scene left a bad taste in my mouth for very personal reasons. Actually the whole way Teresa treats her family and is ashamed of them bugs me. My parents are poor, immigrant, manual laborers, and I got a scholarship for a fancy boarding school when I was in high school. There were some other scholarship kids there who were ashamed of their parents and didn’t want their parents to mix with the other kids parents because of their lack of fancy clothes, cars, manners, speech, etc. Those kids always ticked me off. I was proud to show off my hardworking parents who were proud of me and loved me. There were times when they felt uncomfortable, and I respected that, but I would have never gone out of my way to shame them into feeling less than the other parents.

I feel that Teresa’s motives for getting her dad the cushy messenger job are all wrong (note how she doesn’t want the people in the office to know he’s her dad). But if someone offered one of my parents the opportunity to have a good paying job, that wasn’t the hard labor they’ve become accustomed to, I would jump on it. Refugio needs to see the blessing in that. But she can’t get past her own pride and her bitter feelings about Teresa’s motivations (which we know are not altruistic). What she needs to focus on is how good this is for Armando and for their family’s financial situation, and on Arturo’s kindness in offering Armando this job. Stop focusing on Teresa and her foolishness.

Vivi, thank you so much for the mini-cap but you didn't miss a thing.

I like Tere most days, except the day she hurting Juana over the wedding dress.

Refugly just likes to play the martyr - everything is about her and her suffering.

I can understand the etiquette book. I am sure it was intented to possibly help her parents bridge the transition to Tere's new life. After all, she never earned her degree or learned her social graces (such as they are) by sitting around feeling sorry for herself.

I could not believe that Cutberto switched the card on the flowers. That was really a bad move on his part. Juana deserves someone else.

Rosemary

Love your comments, Julia. Right, here is a great job and you get to make more money and not crawl under a car or push a broom-only an idiot would say no.
We all know what Tere needs the extra ring for-she probably will be selling a lot of jewelry to pay off Fito's blackmail

Shenny- Maybe warbrobe puts Martin in those turtlenecks because they can't find button down shirts with sleeves long enough to fit him. I remember in Querida Enemiga one galan's muscles were so big that his shirts and jackets looked way too small and short. The other big muscled galan wore polo shirts all the time so he was ok. I can imagine that long, lean, lanky Martin, who needs to be dressed like a lawyer, poses a problem for wardrobe.

Vivi, "I was proud to show off my hardworking parents who were proud of me and loved me." I don't think Refugio understands Teresa, she really isn't proud of her accomplishments and wishes she were taking in ironing in the vecindad like she (Refugio) was happy to do all these years. Teresa never had the LOVING SUPPORT  of her mother, and that muddies my criticism of her.

IMO Refugio resents those she feels will automatically resent her and she feels that Teresa has betrayed her and her kind for appreciating and wanting something different/better and for having had the gumption not only to go after it, but to have achieved it! Ref never had the desire to do anything other than what she currently does. There would be no progress and no improvement in societies if everybody were like her. I would be at odds with Ref if she were my mother, too!

Hey! Jumpin in to say hello, I am just about caught up on these episodes. I watched and read the last two so thanks to the recappers whose recap I didn't get to comment on in time!
THANKS TO VIVI for the recap!!!!
I too am happy to see the two hour episodes go byebye as a recapper, but know I will sort of miss them as a viewer!
Looking forward to tonight's episode and getting ready for mine on Wednesday.

Thanks, Vivi, for the helpful mini-cap since I missed bits here and there.

Ah, Martin is wise to Tere. She needs to learn how to treat the common folk it seems, now that she has delusions of grandeur with other people's (Arturo's) money. I still root for her to get the best of Aida. Aida had all the advantages in life but unfairly treated Tere very badly because of Paolo.

Great recap as always.

I have to say I do like Refugio, I think I understand her. The actress that is portraying her is doing an outstanding job.
