Teresa Thu 5/19/11 #60 Going once, going twice.....Arturo is sold (on Teresa's lies)

Hola amigos! Disclaimer: I am traveling this week, so I am pre-capping off the internet. Since I haven’t seen the episode just before this one, there might be a little confusion, but we’ll muddle through. And thank the telenovela gods we are back to one hour! Let’s see what those wacky kids in the DF are up to today, shall we?
Aida is telling Arturo that Teresa sent her and her mom the proof of Rubigote’s affair/divorce intentions, etc. Arturo can’t believe that T would be so mala, but it looks like Aida has successfully planted a bit of a seed of doubt.
Martin and Mariano discuss Aurora. Marty thinks that Mari is bothered by him dating Aurora, but Mari is all “we’re just friends”. Coolio, says Marty, cuz I sure like that gal.
Cutberto and Juana are having an argument. She found out that the flowers were from Hector and not Cutie. She tells him to get lost. He tries to defend himself and can’t believe that she would forget all about him for some nice presents. She tells him it’s not about that, it’s that: 1) something I didn’t catch; 2) he lied; 3) he tricked her. So smell ya later mariachi.
Mariano and Aurora: he apologizes about being a schmuck re: Martin. He is a very good apologizer, in that he is sincere, doesn’t makes excuses, and takes full responsibility. Good for him. They move on to doctor-y chat. He wants to go together to some meeting with Paloma (probably the auction), but Aurora says Martin is going to pick her up. Mari looks bummed.
Hector is chez Juana checking the phone for defects. Oooh, good verb action here: H: “Espero que todo este bien” J: “Pues no, pero estarlo”. Subjunctive, then infinitive used to indicate future, unless I missed a ‘va’. OK, back to the action. Hector couldn’t reach Juana by phone yesterday. They make a dinner date. Hector sure is a nice guy.
Rubes and Geno are saying goodbyes. She wants Rubes to move in, but he reminds her he plans to get back with Maira. She demonstrates her tips for lady-snagging. Ewwww.
Mari and Aurora talk shop and Teresa’s wedding comes up. Mari pretends to be getting used to the idea. Aurora thinks he needs to move on with his life like Teresa is obviously doing with hers. Mariano says that he doesn’t know when he’ll be ready to love someone else, but that it’ll have to be someone for whom he really feels something. So Aurora is like, ‘well, sounds like you haven’t met this person yet.” Poor girl. This guy is so oblivious that he then asks her if she thinks she will ever get over her own mysterious impossible love. She says that she sure as hell is gonna try.
Aida and Maira: Aida does not want to go to Paloma’s auction and encourages her mom to go with El Bigote and make him buy lots of expensive stuff for her.
Arturo asks Rubes if he thinks it was Teresa that sent the divorce papers to Aida/Maira. The stache says “si”. Arturo is pissed.
Juana is crying to Teresa about Cutie. Not only did he lie to her, he also, gasp! took advantage of her in a moment of weakness. Teresa accuses C of rape (abusar) and wants to go to the cops. Juana quickly and firmly corrects her that it wasn’t rape. Teresa is soooo disappointed in her madrina ”te caiste” (you fell). Why, I ask, is Juana not allowed to have any fun? But she’s not. She assures her judgmental goddaughter that she is done with Cutie forevah.
Cutie is bummed and Johnny can’t pep him up. His heart tells him that this time, Juana’s goodbye is for realz. But he’s gonna fight for her.
Oooh, Arturo has just arrived home to Teresa and he is major enojado. He confronts her with the Ruben amante unmasking. Never did he think her capable of such a thing! (“jamas te crei capaz de algo asi!”)
Aida is at the dispensario checking out the ubiquitous exposed brick walls. Aida and Mariano chat about being sad and keeping one’s self occupied to avoid said sadness. She offers to paint the exposed brick (finally someone does!), but no, she is going to snoop through his personal papers, errr, organize the desk. She finds his invite to Paloma’s auction, and convinces him to go with her.
Teresa and Arturo are at high volume, and I think we are getting the volcano that has long been predicted here at CarayCaray. For this, I am going into more detail because it is a fab argument. She is offended that he would believe these accusations of her. He says that he knows that she and Aida are enemigas, but schoolhouse gossip is one thing, and destroying a marriage is another. She correctly points out that the marriage was not exactly rock solid, what with El Bigote’s adventures. She thinks he deserved to be found out, the unjust part is her being blamed for it. Artie says that Rube also thinks she did it, so that sets Teresa off on him talking to everyone but the accused. Now that she has her moment in court, so to speak, she totally denies all, says that she has kept quiet all these years, she is incapable of betraying her friend (Espe), and to top it all off, how could Artie think such horrible things about her? He’s losing some steam as he asks her why Aida would accuse her falsely. She goes on about how Aida blames her for everything, including Paulo’s death even. Besides, remember how she hid Espe when Maira and Rubes were here for dinner? She did it “por ti!!!!” She grabs the phone and starts dialing, presumably so that he can talk to Espe and see that it wasn’t Tere who sent the papers, but Arturo unwisely does not call her bluff. Tere sees that she has won, and so she goes the extra mile—if Rubes weren’t Arturo’s pal, she would have gladly helped Espe deliver the papers, because Rubes deserves it for betraying his wife and her friend. Game, set, match. Arturo asks her forgiveness for doubting her. But he thinks it’s only normal to have doubts. That’s why he wanted to hear her side of the story, to give her the benefit of the doubt (conceder el beneficio de la duda used here, more of a bestowing connotation than dar, even though in english we use give. It seems that the use of conceder bothers Tere a wee bit). “Que???” she says “yo no necesito que me hagas el favor de conceder me nada.” (I don’t need you to do me the favor of giving me anything.) “if you don’t trust me, it’s over. The wedding’s off!!!” And she’s gone. Arturo says nothing, but his look says ‘oy vey’.
Whew, how about a little sorbet. Luisa and Fernando. Why is Luisa crying? Oh, she’s going to miss Fer. And he will miss her. Aww. And he is going to bring his mom to meet her next time he comes.
OK, back to Tere and Arturo. Is he ready for this? I mean she’s got her song playing already. He is begging forgiveness, he was wrong, she’s the only thing that matters, etc. She says he doesn’t trust/believe in her. Not as a socia, but as a good person. She gives him back his ring. And, that, folks, is what we call ‘ the ultimate bluff’.
Back from the break. As the price of forgiveness, Teresa makes Arturo swear that he will always trust her and, most importantly, that he will talk to her before anyone else if he ever has any doubts again. That is a key victory for our little tiburoncita, who keeps so many balls in the air at once. He gets the ring back on the finger and gives it a smooch for good luck. It’s gonna need it. The icing on the cake here is when Teresa says that he is taking advantage of her, because, even though she shouldn’t forgive him, she can’t bear to be apart from him. Cue tiburoncita theme as she thinks to herself “sabia que ibas a caer” (I knew that you were going to fall, i.e. for my little ploy).
Refusio and Armando are chatting. Seems like ol’ Refu has come around to El Lic, but she just hopes that Teresa really loves him. Really? I had no idea that she was worried about their relationship. Anyways, she is going to go to the wedding and maybe even read the stupid etiquette book just for his sake. Cutie pops in and checks out the book, but he’s taking classes from Aurora anyway.
Martin gives Paloma a pep talk, seemingly about seeing Ter and Art together.
Ter and Art who are making up the old fashioned way. Art would like to really, really make up, but Ter says the wedding is only a few days away, let’s hold out. But seriously folks, I am totally on team Mariano (not so much for Teresa as in general), but it’s not exactly a sacrifice to, umm, prove your love for this guy.
Downstairs, Cutie has come to give some flowers to Juana (that he took from outside, natch). She kicks him out, then is sad and lonely on the stairs.
Ooh, looks like the fancy pants auction. Arturo is schmoozing, leaving Ter alone to harass Martin. She is dissing Paloma’s fundraising techniques to the effect of she shouldn’t spend so much on fancy auctions when the money could be spent on the poor (first of all, like she actually cares, second, this is totally the sentiment conveyed by Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar; coincidence?). Turns out Martin is not just the poor assistant of Paloma, as Teresa thought. In fact, he is rich enough to own whatever fancy place the auction is taking place in.
Rubes picks up Maira for the evening. He tries to sweet talk her and gives her a necklace. Que the hell? She’s all smiley and falling for it. He goes in for the smooch.
Aurora arrives at the auction and greets Teresa. Aur tells Ter that Martin is her novio, and Ter is none too pleased.
Maira makes out with Rubes a bit, then says we gotta go. Ugh.
Ter still can’t believe that Aurora is dating Martin, who walks up and confirms that he is smitten. The happy couple looks frankly perplexed as Ter refers to Martin’s boss as her worst enemy, and we see Paloma give a hello. Ter smiles and says that this isn’t the moment to get into it.
Juana and Luisa are sad and lonely at the Casa de la Barrera. Juana admits that she loves Cutie, even if she complains about him. She waxes nostalgic about him.
Arturo and Paloma are being friendly at the auction, and talk about her charity projects. Awkward moment when they acknowledge that the dead baby inspires her work with children.
Raul and Aida chat. She only thinks of him as a friend. Too bad for him. Her dress is a giant flower. Too bad for her. Geno comes in and gives Raul Paulo’s tennis racket as a remembrance. Weird. Raul looks longingly at Aida and leaves. Aida hates to leave Geno alone, but she’s just gotta exact revenge on Teresa by going out with Mariano. Geno understands. Mariano shows up to pick up Aida, and she balks at the idea of his taking her in a taxi. How low is she willing to go for this revenge?
Ter joins Arturo and Paloma, some guy drags Art away so the ladies can sharpen their claws. Threat and counterthreat re: who will win Arturo and who can make him happier. Oh, the game is on.
Looks like Luisa and Juana are having a girlie night. Juana has tried on one of Luisa’s pretty dresses and Luisa is playing with her hair. They have cheered each other up. Luisa confesses that she is envious of Teresa—Luisa’s mom died, while Teresa has 2 moms, Refusio and Juana. Juana looks touched, and quite frankly, this is a relationship I would love to see develop. These two are gonna need each other when they realize the extent of Tere’s treachery.
Espe and Refu are having their own girlie night, but this one looks like less fun. But they share their mutual admiration for one another just the same. Ledesma the younger shows up and joins them for dinner. Oh, he is so smitten.
Back to the auction—Ter/Arturo talking with Maira/Rube. Ter has the bad taste to bring up the divorce papers and deny sending them. Maira would rather not discuss this just now and runs off. Ter plays innocent to Arturo, and he is kinder than she deserves. While he understands that she wants to clear things up, maybe, just maybe, this isn’t the best place to do it. He gets dragged away again so that Tiburoncita is free to smile her little shark smile at the damage.
Hector picks Juana up and is muy impressed by her makeover. They are going out to have a good time.
Aida shows up at the auction and Ter harasses her about already being out of mourning. Ter lets her know that, despite Aida’s accusations about the divorce papers, she and Art are better than ever. I just noticed that Ter has a v. large floral ring. Now, we all know that she always wears a flower of some sort. Is Aida’s giant flower dress supposed to be an attempt to beat the Tiburoncita at her own game? And will it work? Or maybe the Televisa stylist just likes flowers. Anyway, Ter tells Aida the secret of her success: “entre ser o no ser, yo soy”. Aida asks the question that has been on everyone’s minds lo these many weeks: “Tu eres que Teresa?” well, she’s Arturo’s fiancee, the only woman Paulo ever loved, and now a socia of Aida’s dad. And furthermore, Aida is so pathetic, she has to come to parties with her parents now. Oh snap! Here comes her date right now—and it’s Mariano!! Point Aida.
Aurora, Martin, and Paloma talk about charity stuff.
Mariano invites Teresa to a toast with him and Aida. Ter takes the toast as an opportunity to dis Aida for being so lonely that she invited Mari as her guest for the auction. Aida lets Ter know that Mari got his own invitation, which surprises Ter, and Mari says “see? Ter never believes in me”. Paloma comes up to introduce Mari to some fancy pants director type as Ter looks on and fumes at Mari’s success. Arturo walks over and delivers another TN classic line “que hace este tipo aqui?” (what’s this guy doing here). Aurora explains that Mari is in charge of one’s of the projects in Pal’s foundation. Arturo loudly says that he is the last person he thought he would see here, and Mari turns around so that they can shoot daggers at each other. Ter distracts Art with the news about Aurora’s noviazgo.
The auction is called to order, and everyone sits down, but Maira and Rube have apparently gone home because she was too upset. She can’t deal with his advances tonight, but he tries the “let’s just be united as parents” angle, and they discuss Aida’s weird behavior since Paulo’s death. Then it’s back to Rube trying to seduce Maira. Once again, ewwww.
Auction in progress: Arturo wants to buy Ter something. Uh oh. Aida and Teresa both raise their hands to bid on a painting. You just know this is going to get ugly. Probably good for the kids though, as the price is likely to be high.
Dinner chez Refusio: Ref, Espe, Ledesme, and Johnny. They discuss the Patty situation—Johnny is planning a jailbreak as soon as she is of age. Espe is quite level headed and points out that they really don’t know each other much, he has no money, nowhere to live.
Back to the auction: Aida vs Teresa. Aida wins. But wait; was this all Teresa’s plan? She leans over and tells Arturo that although she liked the painting, she didn’t want to provoke another fight with Aida. Arturo laps it up.
Back at the Chavez manor, Ledesme and Espe are laughing over Johnny, the fun dinner, baby booties, etc. They are generally hitting it off like mad. Totally rooting for them.
The auction is at intermission. Teresa does her best to not provoke another fight with Aida by insulting her. Ooh, this is good. When Aida says that she will be enjoying the night with the painting and with Mariano, Ter asks her how it feels to always have her leftovers. Then Aida says that Teresa thinks she has everything now, but the day will come when her luck will change and Aida will do everything she can to make that happened sooner than she thinks!
Maira and Rubes: he wants to spend the night. She looks like she might say yes.
Mariano finds Aida off by herself and upset. She sucks it up and puts on a happy face. They flirt and, oh my god, they kiss. Already? Of course, Teresa passes by just then and is muy, pero muy, impactado.

Comments:
It's funny, but Teresa called herself leaving Mariano for not being ambitious and not wanting to kiss "the important people's" ass, yet Mariano, b/c he's a good person and hardworker IS rubbing shoulders with all the "important people":

Hector Alcazar, director of the hospital

Hernan Ledesma, doctor at the hospital

Paloma Duenas, director of the foundation

Mr. Bank Director, who will be putting $$$ into Paloma/Mariano's project

He's also hanging with the rich girls Aida & Aurora and will end up being introduced to more and more "important people."

Also, isn't Mariano supposed to be an instructor at the Universidad del Sur? Where all "the important people" attend?

Not bad for a naco from the hood.

On the other hand, Teresa is PISSING OFF "the important people:"

Ruben (sure he's a slimebag but he does move in the influential circles)

Genoveva (yes, she's a scumbag but knows the important people)

Dr. Alcazar (gives Teresa the side-eye for her treatment of Mariano, Aurora and general antics)

Martin (who turns out to be rich enough to not need to be Paloma's representative)

Paloma, who is a very rich woman and probably has a lot of influence

And more to come, I'm sure

Teresa doesn't understand how Mariano could be rubbing shoulders with the "important people" because she wasn't in control of that happening. Remember, she left Mariano's party early before "the important people" showed up. It's funny but Teresa could have still had everything she wanted had she gone about it the right way instead of lying and scheming.

Good recap K thanks and up so quickly.

Ok I'm soooo OVER Juana I wanted her with Cutberto (because he wants her) but she doesn't deserve HIM

He is too good for HER she is getting on my last nerve I absolutely hate it when women hit men and they and society seem to think its ok to use physical violence its such a nasty double standard and for something so STUPID no less.

What Cutberto did was wrong to claim those flowers as his gift to J when it was the Doc who had the nice gesture to send them to Juana but did he deserve to get slapped for it NO and he got a HUGE slap already I was annoyed much more with Juana for it.

Yet when Cutberto visits J for forgiveness again he gives her some cute flowers he plucked out from somewhere yet again she assaults him with them what a B!tch screw her!!!

Yet there she is crying over him loves him and she disrespects him like she does she's just a Teresa wanna be I hope she ends up with Dr Alcazar although she does not deserve him either.

Cut is a great guy someone correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the first clinic where Mariano and Aurora spend all of their time helping out people during open hours is in Cutbertos extra room and living room? he lends out to a great cause for free he works hard probably nights as he is a Mariachi he Loves Juana she loves him back yet she turns him down time and time again after she did him no less lol like her *44 has time to waist being happy in her late 40's acting like an immature teen Cut might not be so cute but he's got a bit of a body and he's clearly younger than her he looks about 38 hehehe but most importantly he loves her precisely why I find her teen acting so irritating.

Juana needs to act like a grown ass woman and stop playing games tell Cutberto she can't have any children and be happy with him but she rather be overtly insulted over something stupid and possibly use Dr Alcazar because shes mad at Cutberto she's only hursting her self and worst she might hurt Auroras dad in the long run.

I don't want Cut to beg Juana because he can do so much better than her find a mature woman who won't turn him down over stupid stuff and possibly give him kids because Juana can't be woman enough to speak up believe me Cut can move on with another woman and be fine but you just know Juana would be kicking her self if Cutberto moves on.

Ahh there rant over

When Aida bought that painting for 1 million pesos (Less than 100,000 us dollars)I'm left wondering just how rich everyone really is especially art?

Teresa was still pushing for 800,000 pesos probably under 60,000 US dollars I'm not so sure but damn how much money does Artie have didn't he only spend about 100,000 US dollars to invest on Luna Turkesa?

Art in a lawyer and university professor but boy is he rolling in dough Teresas no limit credit card didn't he buy Luisa a beautiful house/apartment (why isn't she living there)is he a trust fund baby because we never see him in the courtroom.

Kristoise: Thank you for this great recap.
Aida's dress did look like a big crysanthamum that grew, and grew, and grew until it covered her whole chest. She looked nice in it.
Does anyone notice that Mariano and Aida seem to have a tacit agreement to try to upset Tere?
Anon at 3 AM:
Don't forget that Juana was just fine with Cuteberto until Tere started putting ideas in her head, and told her to forget him because he is a loser. I think he is cute.
Why are we both up in the middle of the night??

Kristoise, fab recap and nice job doing it out of sequence. Couldn't even tell.

Ha ha! Aida's face when she found out her carriage would be a taxi was priceless. Dang that girl is trying hard.

Espe and young Dr. L., they are just way too cute and have to end up together. I like the way she stuck it to Johnny, kind of telling him he was acting like a loser in a nice sisterly sort of way.

Anon207, I like your analysis of networking. Indeed it does seem like Mariano is surpassing Tere in the network prowess. Maybe her ambition is blinding her?

Emarie, I didn't catch on about Aida and Mariano but definitely seems like they have a tacit agreement to stick it to Tere.

Thanks again Kristoise for the thorough and very funny recap.

Kristoise - safe travels and thanks for getting this up for us so fast. Also love the vocabulary...helps so much for those more challenged in the language.

emarie, I don't know if there's an actual verbal agreement between Mar and Aida, but he seems to have caught on to what she's up to with Tere, and being just as ticked off at her, he's going along for the ride. Rather enjoyed when he walked up with the drinks at the auction. Look at Tere's face...THAT was priceless.

As for Cutberto, I can understand Juana being upset. She's feeling betrayed. Considering her past heartache, except for the drunken moment, she's had a hard time giving into her feelings. This time she did it cold sober and then to realize he had lied to her...that had to hurt more than it would for most. Sorry, I would have hauled off and clobbered him too.

Frankly, what I love here, and some have already commented through the last weeks, is that every character has their weakness and flaws. It makes it so more interesting and uncertai8n on the plot as to how things are going to play out. I can understand why people could not stop watching and this TN had such ratings.

Aida's dress was sort of weird with the big flower, but she actually rocked it and thought she dressed better than Tere and her outfit (which didn't really fit the occassion.)

And again, loved the look Mar gave both Tere and Artie. It was like - hey I fit right in and I WORK and know these people. Got a problem with that? Anon 207 nailed how he's moving up the "important people" chain and it is wonderful to watch. You go guy.

Daisynjay: ITA that Tere's attire at the auction was deplorable. Normally, she's running around like she's about to go to a party, but when she actually goes to something she turns up in spandex and a corset.
Mar and Aida don't have a verbal agreement that's why I called it a tacit agreement. He seems to sense this is an opportunity to tick Tere off and is going with it, ITA. How fun to watch.
For a side story, the Juana and Cutberto story is interesting. I can't seem to get into the Johnny and Pati cradle robbing episode...

Kris- A wonderful job, and while travelling too. Thank you for all the effort amiga.

Anon207- That is exactly one of the lessons Teresa will have to learn. Slow and steady (and honest) can get you to the same place and level of influence and wealth. If she had stayed with Mariano she would eventually have the life she wants AND the man she loves. I also loved her face when Mariano appeared as Aida's date with their wine glasses. LOL!

Aida's flower dress looked really good on her. It only really works on girls with smaller chests. In fact, I think Altair Jaraibo wore it once in Llena de Amor. I can only guess that Teresa was somehow protesting Paloma's fundraiser by choosing to go as a hooker in mourning, instead of one of her usual (and more appropriate) cocktail dresses.

Mayra's plan to look hot, but be cold towards the Bigote, failed. The woman can't resist his charms. In some ways I admire the fact that after 25 years of marriage, the Bigote still floats her boat. It made me wonder if ignorance would not have been better in this case. I know, I know. I WOULD want to know if my husband were cheating on me. But in the case of Mayra and Ruben, he treated her well, they had a great sex life, they had a really nice family life. Yes, he was cheating on her and using her money to invest in his businesses. But he never intended to divorce her or make her unhappy. More inportantly, Mayra seems incapable of singing "I Will Survive" and moving on without the Bigote. But now she's too hurt to be with him, and too in love with him to dump him.

Her daughter, on the other hand, seems very capable of moving on...to Mariano. I'm not supporting marriage for these two, but I don't have a problem with them dating. They both need to get their firstloves/obsessions out of their systems. And they really do have a nice chemistry. She makes him smile! They enjoying flirting with each other and poking fun at each others naco/fresa status. I think he could be really good for getting rid of some of her snobbish ways, and she could bring some fun and whimsy into his like. I say go for it.

Anon- I'm glad Cutberto has someone in his corner. I like him, but am not as taken with him because of his tendency to get drunk at the least trouble, gossip and jump to conclusions, and his general immaturity at times. But like daisynjay pointed out, every character in this tn has flaws, which make them more believable. He has just as many great qualities as bad ones (as Juana herself said), and so does Juana. She fears falling in love again (understandable after losing the love of her life), she fears disappointing Cutberto about the babies thing, and she fears losing Teresa (who she considers her child) if she loses Teresa's respect. That's a lot of fear holding her back. I also don't see her going out on dates with Hector as the same as Teresa seducing Arturo. They liked each other from the moment they laid eyes on each other and she really enjoys his company. Does she love him (yet)? No. But they are only just getting to know each other, while she and Cutberto have known each other for years. I think she and Hector have a real chance at a relationship if both she and Cutberto move on. It looks like the maid Zelda might be a possibility for him.

Vivi:
Thanks!!! That's where I'd seen that dress. Was driving me crazy last night thinking " where have I seen that before??"

And I soooo agree, emarie on the JOhnny storyline. It just seems like so much filler to me and find myself not even listening when those scenes come on. I guess it's because it's the one plot line that doesn't rally flow back to the main scheme of things....yet, maybe, so I feel like "yeah, so what". (Plus she's so "high school" makes it tough to get into the whole romance fo these too--just me)

daisynjay- I'm guessing that Margarita M. and Altair J. get to wear the same outfits on different novelas a lot because they have similar builds. Meaning, they are of the few high profile tn actresses that are not surgically enhanced on top or below, but have hips, and are of a similar height.

Vivi: Tere came to the party dressed like, "a hooker in mourning", ROTFL
I can see Aida and Mar together, they could balance each other. I'd like to see him melt her out of her snobbery, but this would come as a surprise to her since she is only doing this for revenge.

I remember Jarocha commenting that this novela had people of ALL ages hooked in Mexico. I can imagine that in addition to the generational issues storylines, and a heroine that you always wanted to see what she would do next, as Jarocha pointed out, the fact that there are loves stories among all the age groups is another factor. You have the older couples in their 40s and 50s like Rube-Mayra-Gen,; Refugio-Armando, and Juana-Cutberto-Hector; and the 20s and 30s folks like Teresa-Mar-Art, Aida-Paulo, Aurora-Martin, and Dr. Ledesma-Espe. Johnny-Rosita-Pati are meant to interest the teenager crowd. Remember, families in LatAm watch these novelas together. Since none of us are teenagers, I don't think we're really meant to be all that interested in Johnny-Pati. Their storyline also kind of serves as comic relief from the more intense, Teresa centered storylines. But I think with Zelda the maid being in the mix it might get more interesting.

Kris: terrific read and very witty! Happy travels!

Thanks to all the recappers this week for making my mornings so entertaining! I am grandbaby sitting this month and literally juggling bottles, dirty diapers, laundry and walking the dog with recapping responsibilities!!

My affection for Teresa is as bittersweet as Mariano's and Refugly's. I hope she'll be rehabilitated in the end cuz I HATE everything that Aida stands for and has done. Let's remember that she is still on a mission of revenge and all for envy of a love she never really had. I totally believe that although Teresa might be feeling a bit guilty of Paulo's death she really is not responsible for it. I don't think Fito really has anything over her either. Spoiled rich boy Paulo was looking for a different kind of high and excitement and took what Fito offered him. Tere simply pointed the way. Paulo could have said no, so I don't buy the probable Aida following the trail to Tere for a just revenge plotline.

Aida has NEVER liked Teresa (even way before she and Paulo started dating). And vice versa. Aida not only suspects Teresa had something to do with Paulo's death (which she did, but it's still Paulo's own fault), but she also maliciously sent her and her mother the pic and divorce papers. Teresa did these things just to hurt Aida. Meaning they are both at fault for playing this one-upmanship game with each other. I have enjoyed the moments when Teresa was able to score points when Aida was being a total witch. But I am also enjoying the moments when Aida is able to score points when Teresa is being a total witch. Neither one of them is an innocent in this and they both have much to learn and a lot of growing up to do. I am also totally on board with Aida unmasking the real Teresa in front of the people who (think they) know her. She was instrumental in opening Aurora's eyes and for that I'm grateful.

Vivi, thanks for reminding us where we'd seen Aida's flower dress before. I wonder, will we see the pear bathrobe in this one? Or have we seen it already?

Loved the scenes with Juana and Luisa. They were having fun with no ulterior motives on either side. What a refreshing change.

Juana needs to start making custom clothes for Luisa. If Juana started making custom clothes for Luisa, Paloma, Aurora etc. Teresa wouldn't hesitate to have Juana making her clothes again.

Kristoise, this was so entertaining. Fun lines. "So smell ya later mariachi." "She gives him back his ring. And, that, folks, is what we call ‘the ultimate bluff’." "first of all, like she actually cares, second, this is totally the sentiment conveyed by Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar; coincidence?" Thanks for brightening up my morning.

That auction was so much fun. I was totally cackling, watching Teresa see how fast and how far Mariano is moving up in the world, doing it his way and without her. Love how he's finally stopped pathetically clinging to her and is enjoying giving her a taste of her own medicine, albeit with a great deal more class than she displays.

I also enjoy any Martin-Teresa interaction. Her overinflated and baseless sense of superiority, his bemused self-assurance...it's delightful.

Someone needs to give the manners book to Johnny. I couldn't watch the scene where they were having dinner; he should have been eating at a trough instead of at the table.

Kris, thanks for the recap imbedded with fun and vocabulary. I'm on the road myself, in fact I'm sitting in Chicago Midway as we speak!

One comment, usually an innocent heroine is tortured by a cruel antagonist in most novelas, we don't have that scenario in this novela As others have said, almost everyone is flawed in Teresa so it is hard to decide whose side to be on! Aida made it her business to torture the poor folks at her school and she hasn't changed, she threw Espi out of her hospital room like she was vecindad basura, it is hard to be on her side on anything!!!

Can't wait to watch the episode, sounds like a good one!

Happy babysitting Jardinera!

Heh, Sylvia, I was just wondering this morning who would wear the pear bathrobe in this show. SOMEONE'S got to. I'm guessing Aida or Aurora.

Aida didn't like Teresa BEFORE she found out Teresa was poor.

Thinking back to last night's wardrobe choices for the charity auction, I'm not sure if Teresa's wardrobe choice was meant to show how out of place she is in the world of the rich or if she was trying to stick it to Paloma.

Aurora, Aida, Paloma, Maira, etc. were dressed appropriately. All the guys (Mariano included) had on nice suits. Teresa had on a corset, cheap looking flower ring and sprayed on leggings, truly looking like a hoodra, when she's usually in a cocktail dress. I didn't get it last night.

One comment, usually an innocent heroine is tortured by a cruel antagonist in most novelas, we don't have that scenario in this novela
-----------------------------

Innocent heroines: Aurora, Luisa

Antagonist: Teresa

It's just that Teresa's antagonism is masked by "friendship," although Aurora's getting it more from Teresa than Luisa.

I don't think Aida threw Espe out of the hospital room because she was from the hood. How would you know your nurse was from the hood?

The only people in this novela that I've seen treating the help like trash is Teresa (Eva, Reina, Martin) and Grumps (Armando, Johnny). Even Aida was nice to Mariano before she found out his connection to Teresa.

No one has mentioned the shift in Arturo's character. The anger he displayed at both Bigote and Ter was a clue (I think) of more fun to come.
Everyone keeps mentioning how Teresa will be changing by the end of this TN, but why is it that Sebastian Rulli has first billing in the opening credits? I think the Arturo character has got some wild changing in store for us.

Show of hands, please, who wants to see more of Arturo in bed?
My O My, Seba plays the best in love (lust) and frustrated noivo. Like someone mentioned earlier, how difficult would it be for Teresa to show her "love" for this guy? Come on Teresa, you have to give it up!

Love Mariano/Aida together. They seem to be a better "fit" than Mar/Ter. They bring out something good in each other and they have fun together. I never saw Mar have any fun with Ter. (Unless you call Cuernavaca fun) I believe Mar has confused Love with Lust for Teresa. And maybe he will realize Love with Aida.

How fun was it when Martin put Teresa in her place? He will be fun to watch.

But the ultimate "watch" for me is to see Arturo show us who he really is. I'm hoping he turns out to be a greater manipulator than Teresa ever was.
Fun, Fun.

"I don't think Aida threw Espe out of the hospital room because she was from the hood. How would you know your nurse was from the hood?" When Aida threw Espi out of her room she was indignant, and more than that she was using her very superior tone of voice.  If I'm going to tie my little red wagon to anyone in this novela it WON'T be Aida, she is a true snob.  If she changes, good, but I haven't seen that yet!

I'm dying to see the auction, it must have been great.

When Aida threw Espi out of her room she was indignant, and more than that she was using her very superior tone of voice.
-------------------

Aida was lashing out at everyone; her man just died a day or two before her wedding and she was in shock. I don't think Aida throwing Espe out had anything to do with Espe being from the hood. If Aida was THAT hateful against poor people she would have thrown Mariano out when he was treating Paolo.

We've seen Aida at home dealing with her household staff; we've never seen Aida, Maira or Ruben treating their household staff like trash.

We've never seen Arturo or Luisa treating Reina or the chauffer like trash.

We've never seen Genoveva treating her staff like trash.

Or Aurora and her dad.

Now they all may not think their household staff is on the same level as they, but they haven't treated them like trash. Even Grumps didn't treat his maid like scum, only Armando & Johnny.

The only person we've seen treating the help like trash is Teresa (and Grumps). She was nasty to Reina after she moved in and very disrespectful to Martin. She also kind of had an attitude with Ruben's secretary.

You can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat those lesser than them in status (waiters, sales clerks, customer service people, receptionists, etc).

Aida isn't the best person in the world (and she knows it) but we haven't seen her treating those in service to her like trash.

Anon207, I'm not defending Teresa, I'm only trying to say that Aida has fairly signifant faults herself The truly kindest people are Luisa and Aurora. Luisa doesn't fully know about Teresa yet, but Aurora does and she isn't busying herself with revenge, just distance.

I'm voting to see Sebastian Rulli with fewer items of clothing on. Talk about a hunka hunka burnin' love...

Teresa was bering a total declasse bitch at the auction but doews Aida have the $$$ to pay for the painting?

Thanks for the recap Kristoise. Your comments throughout were hysterical. Nice work.

Diann - right before I started typing I was waving both arms in the air in agreement on Sebastian. I'd be happy if he would even lose the tie more often and go for the open collar look.

And I agree - I don't think he will be the milquetoast he's been for long. We know he has a temper, he's been hurt badly in the past, now he's hurting about a lost child...anything happens to bring back that same hurt I would suggest a duck and cover strategy by the other characters(especially the Holy Terror.) And I would love to see it!!

Yeah Daisynjay!
But that tie on Arturo is just so tempting to undo..... So for me, he can stay with the polished shirt tie look! Jajajaja

Kristoise fabulous recap thank you so much.

Jardinera i think the same way about Aida can't stand her.

SO what exactly was Aida problem with Teresa then? Before she knew she wasn't rich like the rest of their classmates might it perhaps have been her other obsession she was going out with Paulo? Aida has many faults and just because she treats her help decently does not excuse the type of behavior she has displayed so far.

Vivi ita there has been a one up manship between Aida and Teresa and neither is willing to let it go so we will see how far they are going to take it.I definitely don't like Mariano with Aida even though he seems right now to be sticking it back to Teresa by being with Aida.I think he was surprised and impress by Aida for apologizing like that in front of a group of the residents who live in their vecinidad he most definitely has had a rude wake up call concerning Teresa and her games.

But if he really does goes there doesn't he lose out of any chance he might have with Aurora?

I do love Martin with Aurora too and love how he isn't led on by Teresa and her charms. But i still want Mariano with Aurora.

I do see Mariano leading Aida to her road of becoming a humane human and not the odious snob she really is. By being around the people of Teresa's neighborhood she'll perhaps have a better appreciation of how hard Mariano got to where he is today. Plus not everyone from that neck of the woods is a social climber like Teresa.

Do so love Juana with Luisa let's hope we see more of this burgeoning mother daughter type relationship. I do feel once Juana truly sees what her god daughter is she will have two substitutes to replace her with her affections in Luisa and Aurora.Who appreciate Juana as she is and not who she should become.

Blusa: I think Teresa should get rehabilitated and end up with Mar cuz I don't believe Aida's confession was real and Ter's tacky behavior will stop after gettin' a bit more "schooled" from Martin and Art. JMHO

Jardinera i don't see Teresa ending up with Mariano she has hurt him too much although i do agree she is in need of some serious rehabilitation and therapy with her issues. I so like the burgeoning awakening of Mariano realizing what a great and wonderful girl he has right under his nose in Aurora. It's up to him to stop seeing her as just a friend and let's face a friend doesn't react like he has when he sees her with Martin.

Do not want him with Aida they can be friends but i definitely don't want them two as a couple. Because Aida is all about revenge and getting back at Teresa.I was ROFL when he told her he was taking her to the auction in his taxi that look was priceless. Oh! the indignities this little snooty snob is going to have to endure to get her revenge on Teresa.

Vivi i forgot what in the heck was Teresa wearing for that auction that was so not appropriate and like it has been mentioned she is always wearing her cocktail dresses every where but not to a party where she will be hob nobbing with some important people?

Kristoise, thanks for taking time on your trip to help us out with your recap. Like the title and it was fun and informative.

Yes, Aida is a bully and today we have it on the news that these bullies cause psychological damage to their victims and may even lead to their suicides. Bullies usually pick on people who are different or can't defend themselves. At least Aida should have been suspended or been reprimanded in high school. And now as an adult Aida is still going after Teresa through Mariano and his clinic. She may inadvertently be redeemed but that's not what Aida's about now.

Hope Arturo (OMG, what a Beautiful Man) ends up happy but not with Paloma or Teresa (unless Teresa has a complete turn around.)

Wonder if Fer is really bringing Momma or whomever back to meet Luisa. It's probably just a line he's using. Somehow it seems he and Teresa might hookup. So I guess he'll be back.

Thank you for the recap Kristoise. It's much appreciated. What was that outfit Teresa wore to the aunction. I'm thinking she purposely dressed that way maybe to irritate Paloma.

Both Aida and Teresa will not stop their game until one of them is left standing me thinks.

I also want Arturo to be happy in the end once all the dust settles when he finds out about Teresa's treachery but I don't want him to end up with Paloma.

@ Emarie why are we both up so late?

Not sure lol on my end just a little insomnia I'm on the west coast it was only midnight.

I couldn't go to sleep so I went online (phone) and was surprised to see the recap of the days episode up and went on my lil rant on Juana.

Ok so perhaps I'm over reacting with Lady Godoys (Juanas) unique personality I just want her to speak clearly and honestly with Cutberto and try to be happy as they both obviously love each other.
(Oh and not hit him)
it would be nice if she set Teresa straight on her feeling towards Cutberto also and not be influenced by Teresa if Tere thinks he's a loser Juana needs to let Tere know that's just her opinion that she still loves her but that she is interested in him and she wants him.

All I want is for Lady Godoy to woman up.

I know this is old, but had to clarify for anyone still reading:

Aida has treated Teresa, Mariano, Esperanza, Nachita, Teresa's parents, and even her own maid rudely. She was checking out Mariano, then immediately looked down on him when he said he was a taxista. There was no known connection of him to Ter at that time. Teresa telling the maid to put her things away isn't “treating her like trash” at all. It's snobby, but it wasn't mean. In fact, many times that she's given her orders she'd been no different than Maira doing the same. Her treatment of Martin wasn't b/c she thought he was a “servant”, but his link to Paloma. Remember, Ter gets along with people from the vecindad. What she doesn't like are people who don't try to make something of their life, whether they be rich (coasting off family money) or poor (unwilling to elevate their circumstances). She scolded Aurora for wanting to be a teacher, instead of using her resources to achieve bigger things (whereas Ter had to struggle to gain opportunities) & criticized Paulo/Aida for using their parents to get by in life. She looks down at Cutberto & Fito, but admires Espe & Mariano. Aida judges people by their social condition, Ter judges them by their ability to rise above their condition.

Her telling Fito to “stay away from good people like Johnny, & focus on bigger fish like Paulo” was not only a way to get back at Paulo who had just harassed her, but also a helpful way to get a bad dude off Johnny's back. Her wishing Paulo's "illumination or elimination" came right after he manhandled her & tried to force himself on her. So actually, he'd harassed her twice. Teresa had warned both him & Aida to leave her alone or she was going to keep getting back at them. Every time Aida asks why Teresa is trying to ruin her life, Ter has to remind her that she's told her countless times to stop bothering her or she'll be asking for it. The revenge started after Paulo tried to assault Teresa (make that 3x he's harassed her!) outside the club for not wanting to be his mistress (luckily Mariano intervened) & after that Aida humiliated Ter, her family, and even the professor. Ter has mainly attempted to ruin the lives of people who directly hurt her, whereas Aida will even attack innocents at Ter's expense. No, Ter's not acting against Aida, she's REACTING.

The one good thing about Aida is that she admits to her prejudice. The main bad thing about Teresa is that she puppet masters Espe, Luisa, & Aurora (w/in limits) to persuade them into following her plans. However, she also defends them, gives them good advice, and supports them which confuses me. I think she does care about her loved ones, but she takes advantage of them. Does it make her evil? Not really, but she is naughty. Generally, she's a good person that does bad things. Same can be said about Aida, although personally I feel Aida is more spiteful & targets others w/o any real basis other than her prejudice. While Teresa's worst act was exposing the truth (which Maira was grateful for), Aida has thrown acid at someone's face. The writer's gave the “Mala” title to the wrong character. Ter even warned Gen & Aida that Paulo was on drugs, warned Luisa that Fer is a womanizer, warned Juana (initially) not to make the dress, warned Juana not to give in to Cut, warned Paloma to keep away, warned Aida that her father was a cheater, etc. I can keep going. But Ter does offer them a chance to prevent catastrophe & when they don't, she takes advantage of their decision. She's no angel, but I can understand her motivations and find her naughtiness stems from teaching Aida a lesson, while Aida has sought to destroy Teresa from the very beginning.
