She seems to mesmerize her minions with those snakey eyes, and when she strikes, it's fast and deadly!

The screwed up family reactions to Renata announcing her engagement were hilarious!!

This is the first tme that Roberta puts a few things together. This is the first time she hears that Jero's brother has died and she hears that Jero inherited this vineyard in Northern Baja from his brother. You can see her on the couch, rapid eye movement, putting it all together.

Jero! First, you are motivated to get married from Gina's situation "when married you really get to know someone.". OK, I guess that is a way to really figure Renata out.

But what's this? Renata please honest with me now so we have some hope for our love? "I can forgive anything but deception."? DUDE! Look at what you are doing! Do you expect her to easily forgive your massive deception?!?

I meant to add above that Roberta knows from Fina's file on Jero that Rafael is Jero's brother. But this is the first time she has had news of him.

the fun twist is that roberta and fina both assume that what Jero said about his being broke is truthful so they don't expect that Renata is really marrying into a pot of gold... but a pot of suffering (which she is but noone knows yet except for Jero)
 

all i can say about jero is he is really going to get what he asked for by not being honest and 'man up' to confront Nata directly... when the lie explodes depending on how far he gets into it, he will be MIGHTY SORRY for himself...

Good recap of crazy people!

There are some strange relationships down on the grape farm. Getting the impression that the writers are getting bored with the Monterubios and want to head to baja for some couple swapping.

Gonzo putting the divorce action on hold is typical telenovela but this business with Mathias being a brooding 4 year old is getting old.

Noticed Roberta's reaction that Rafa was dead and Fina confuses me. If she wants Roberta to get back the love that Nata stole, why wouldn't she be thrilled that Nata is moving to Baja?

A, Fina does not want nata to be happy... period!!! Nata is an extension of Gina so Fina wants Nata to be a suffering martyr all her life... Besides, if Nata leaves perhaps Fina does not have her handy whenever she needs Nata to do something to get the fortune Nata is supposed to get when she turns 25. So she wants to keep a leash on her...

Fina is really torn between delight that Renata is going far a way and fury that her ploy at ruining things for Renata with Jero apparently didn't work and Renata is going to "get hers" after all which Fina just hates. Fina just can't resist piling on the hate.

Fina's line "you are going against all our wishes" is really code for "my wish is for you to be my permanent punching bag and go nowhere in your life so I can keep punishing your father" even though having Renata near is not in Fina's best interest at the moment.

Wow, insightful of Gonzo to realize that Renata might at least partly motivated by being spurned by her family. I bet he'll ultimately blame Fina for driving her away.

Our TV station chopped off the previews in favor of ads, so I didn't get a hint yet of what Roberta does with the new info. She's not the sharpest girl around, but she can be tenacious when something interests her.

Wow this novela has me intrigued, I can't quit posting! I am also loving Alborada.

Honestly, I don't see her cutting it at work. This oughta be good. I imagine she will be about as successful at a career as Selene will be working at the Regina Center.

Augustin discovered the "Roberta loves Rafa" heart. What will he do with this information?

Marta, thank you for translating Jero's thought bubble about Renata lying to him. She easily passes every little test he throws out to her, but in typical telenovela fashion he just won't tell her the truth! AArrgh! Oh well, I suppose if he did then there would be no telenovela.

Martai, thanks for your great recap to keep us up on the intricate information and events revealed last night. I love the Anti-Jero phrase, so clever.

I wonder if Roberta is smart enough to realize that Fina knew Rafa was dead and did not tell her. Fina was the only one in the family that even knew of the Rafa - Roberta romance and she was so against it. We'll see if that truth is logged for later retrieval.

I think Alfonsina is definitely going to be a problem for Augie later too. She has said repeatedly what good people Rafa and Jero are and how much she likes other people at the hacienda. She may be of service in counter espionage for Lorenzo and Matie. Her husband may be Augie's flunky but she isn't anyone's tool, she is way too smart and I think has a good sense of morals and justice EXCEPT for her ill-fated fascination with DR.No no no no no....

How in the world is Roberta going to become a career girl - I thought she was pregnant?

I bet the wedding will be a real train wreck. I assume that Regina will be there and will she recognize Vibora Fina? Sorry Audrey but I think of her as a Vaca. If I thought the wedding over on Teresa was bad, I am afraid that this one will be worse.

Love the title, love the song....and got a kick out of the Yuck, double yuck, triple yuck Major Yuck!!!! progression. Yep, that just about covers the whole episode. Icky from start to finish.

Renata just gets a job and now will decline it so she can live a life of suffering with neurotic conflicted Jeronimo. Guess we'll all be suffering until the finale!

RE the missing posting of June 7, I completely understand the reason
for not posting with the big party
as a topmost priority, but I need to be filled in on Fina's conversation with Anti Hero. I believe that Fina told AH (now there's another acronym possibility)that Fina dumped Rafa
because he had no money. Were there more details?

Also, I am confused as to the relationship between Rafa & Nata.
I came into this novela when he was in the process of dying at Fina's hands. Was it truly accidental? What was the reason for the heated discussion?

Why was Renata waiting for Rafa at the restaurant after meeting AH
after almost being mugged? There
was supposedly a surprise for her.

Rosemary - I definitely get the Vaca resemblance for Fina too, and that was my first impression. But those eyes shine with a cold reptilian intelligence. She may look like a placid Vaca on the surface, content to chew her cud, but don't turn your back!

Mr in is likely to be Jero for the rest of the series since his massive deception is the main plot device. Maybe we need a Mr. Inappropriate OTJ (other than Jero)

My candidate for Mr I-OTJ today --Dr. Useless' and his vineyard kiss. Mathias seems to have made a bit of progress. Hesurely moped and whined too much -- but his support of Jero was adult.

Marta, speaking of photos I noticed that Regina has a big old photo of herself and baby Regina. Might not Renata see that and recognize herself as a baby? Also, I wonder if Gonzo has ever seen a baby picture of Renata. If so wouldn't he recognize a baby pic of Renata?

great comments from everone already on the "yea, I'm getting married - thanks for all your support" scene. Why does that poor girl even bother? Did love the Roberta eye-popping though!! And Gonzo didn't disappoint eventually giving Nata the only support she'll ever get from that crew.

Jero bugged me with the fake letter last night, but we knew that was coming. Augie is now just a permanent piece of pond scum, so I guess that "Mr. I" has to go to Jero for still not comin' clena. Listen to Gina dude - you're always asking her advice. Use it for once.

I so want to see Roberta at work...we need some cominc relief.Hope she gets something really boring and menial.

Anyone else want to wipe that stupid grin off Selene's face. Stalker and a leech--yeah, she's Roberta's friend. watch how she "volunteers" too...careful not to break a nail.

So previews showed a wedding already - can't be jumping that fast forward can they? will look forward to more scenes at the vineyard. (And the stink-eye mathilde will be giving to Nata.)
 

I thought Roberta looked a little surprised and disturbed to hear that Rafael was a landowner.
Please remind me, when did Roberta learn that Raf was dead?
And why doesn't that mother just enjoy getting Renata out of town far away? with a man she has programed to mistreat her? Or if Renata needs to be dead for mother and Roberta to inherit all why doesn't she just kill her? It would be kinder and quicker.
 

Bonney, Roberta just learned about Rafa's death at the very end of this episode. We haven't even seen her reaction yet except for her bug-eyes. I predict it ain't gonna be pretty.

One detail I really enjoyed last night was Roberta lying on the couch with her head in Fina's lap, while they waited for Renata's "family meeting". Highly symbolic!

Maybe Roberta didn't quite realize Rafael was a landowner. She knew he had his own business. Fina had talked down whatever Rafael had - labeling him worthless and not "at their level".

Oh, I bet that Matilde and Renata will become fast friends before too long. Their personalities are very compatible.

Gawd, what a bunch of miserable, whining shrews. Renata is so patient and still tries to love these "people" -- sheesh!

A little surprised that the tree carvintg was revealed already. I don't think Auggie knows the significance, but he's filing it. Spare girl will maybe spill it somehow in a fit of jealousy over Auggie panting after Renata. . .okay, I can't untangle the twisted logic of that, just putting it out there. A wedding tonight, hunh?
 

I just cannot get over Jero's hypocrisy. Here he is lying through his blinding white teeth to Renata, AND to his friend Regina (he totally let her believe he has put everything out in the open with Nata), and yet he keeps harping on how he hates dishonesty!

Poor Nata. She is one brave woman. I would have blown off that venomous family of mine and gone on my way. The unfortunate thing is that Fina will be proven right. Renata will regret marrying and going off with Jero once she learns the whole truth. Will Nata be too ashamed to come back because of that? I could see her not wanting Fina to know she had been deceived and give her that satisfaction.

I had to laugh out loud when Gonzo asked if she was jumping into this marriage because of the fam's lack of support. This came right after Fina had just given Nata the usual verbal lashing, as Gonzo stood by and said/did NOTHING to stop her, as usual. I mean, would he blame her if it were true? Jeez!

I'm curious what Augie will do with the knowledge of the name of La Bonita. I still can't wait for his reaction when he learns Nata is Jero's woman. Spare girl won't be so pleased by his reaction I'm sure. She seems like a decent person. Why's she settling for so little from her man?

Fina basically told Jero that Nata was a selfish, scheming egotistical slut that dropped Rafa because he wasn't rich enough.

Rafa and Nata were friends only.

FINA KILLED RAFA and then put the gun in his hand to make it look like suicide. . .which of course everyone swallowed.

Renata was waiting for Rafa at the restaurant because he wanted to talk to her about his desire to marry Roberta . . .as a friend he was going to share it with her first: that was the surprise.

I also think the news of his hacienda/vinyard was a suprise. When Renata and the family knew Rafa, he was working for their company. He went off to make his wealth in order to be worthy of Roberta. That came in the form of starting up this vinyard from scratch. This is the reason why none of the family, except Roberta and Fina, know about the hacienda and the vinyards and have made the connection in their minds.

I agree that Jerry has pretty well been a daily Mr. I. Lots of viable candidates last night, but my own selection for Mr Inappropriate is Matias. He really needs to learn to keep hi mouth shut. What nerve insisting that Renata answer Fina's question, "Are you pregnant?" Perhaps technically an appropriate question for Fina to ask, IN PRIVATE!, since she is her mother, but certainly not any of Matias' concern.

Jerry's ongoing deception while insisting on honesty is disgusting. I've not liked him ever since LFMB and that insipid half smile, which is more like a sneer, turns my stomach, and Renata's enthusiastic unconditional surrender to love for this jerk breaks my heart.

Cheryl, sorry that I didn't get around to telling you Monday, but I loved your recap this week.

I don't know how Renata still manages to be so sincere with her horrible family. If I were her, I'd have just started messing with them, saying what they apparently want to believe. "Yeah, I'm knocked up, triplets in fact, no idea who the father is and frankly can't even remember who I slept with. Usually don't ask their names anyway; I just empty their wallets. But anyway, I've roped Jero into marrying me but we're waiting until I'm really huge to have the wedding. It's trailer-trash themed! We're serving Cheetos and meth and cheap beer. Dad, wear track pants and an offensive t-shirt! Mom, obviously you're ready to come as is."

Wasn't it Roberta who brought up the "must be pregnant" theory? Roberta is often showing classic projection in this novela. Roberta is the one pregnant, who plans to manipulate Matías to marry her, so of course she immediately jumps to the conclusion that Renata MUST be doing exactly the same thing. Except - Roberta angrily bashes Renata for doing what she herself plans to do! Poor kid, she just can't understand that so many men honestly fall in love with Renata.

(I think I remember the scene correctly)

I would love to see Agustin saddled with Roberta somehow. Who would survive? Well, Agustin is in a whole other class, so I guess we know the answer to that one. More likely those two will band together somehow and create a living nightmare

Hola Carlos, Thanks for the supportive note. I'm just doing some catching up today too. Cisco is finally feeling better from his porcupine encounter on Sunday. The two or three remainging quills are dissolving pretty fast and he is blithely running after bunnies and what not in the Bosque. Wllla isn't talking about it, but happily eating part of his food and treats if he hesitates. Otherwise we are trying to stay out of the smoke at night. It's been a long week.
