Cuando Me Enamoro #36 Thursday 6/9/11 Play Selene For Me

Recap delayed due to the Copa Oro. Congratulations to Mexico for winning their second game out of two!!

And that’s all the celebrating for tonight because it’s back to the double crossing tricks of Fina and her devil spawn...

Last night we left Matias in the garden drinkin and thinkin that Jero’s not a bad guy no matter how mad he is that Renata loves him. (Is that a topiary chicken in the background?) He can’t blame Jero for wanting the kids and family with Renata, the woman HE loves. Father and son bond over not being able to have the women they love. They both fear that Nata will be far from them forever.

Allrighty then, as we suspected from last night’s episode Roberta is all over the news that Rafa is dead. Fina tries “he probably has more than one brother!” Nope, Rob is like a deranged terrier with a dirty sock. Jero only had ONE brother, and if he left Jero the farm then it was RAFA! And now Renata’s going to life at the hacienda that Rafa bought for HER! Roberta hysterically shrieks Rafa didn't jilt her, he died! Fina denies it, says Rafa dumped her because he found out Fina would disinherit Roberta if she married Rafa. Fina keeps harping, “Remember the letter? Remember the letter?” She is referring to the letter that she herself wrote with Rafa’s signature telling Roberta he was dumping her because he could not marry her without her family’s fortune and connections. (I wonder, did Roberta save the letter in her own mother’s handwriting allegedly written by Rafael?)

Roberta, now completely distraught, weeps that in spite of everything she loved Rafa and the times she spent with him were the happiest of her life. She’s going to the hacienda to find out what happened! Fina pushes her back on the bed, tells her to shut it and never expose her relationship with Rafa to her dad or bro. While Fina rolls her eyes she fake-comforts Roberta who is crumpled and weeping. Am I the only one who feels terribly sorry for Roberta at this moment? How different her life might have been if only mommy hadn’t killed the only person who truly loved her.

Renata calls Jero to tell him how delighted her family was at the news of their impending marriage, NOT. She gives him the 411, they think he’s a traitor but tough-o because she and he are going to live on his brother’s hacienda and be happy forever because their love is stronger than anything, right?

Gonzo wanders around his office talking to himself. He admires Renata because she puts her strong love in front of everything. The Gonzo/Regina music plays and he says not everyone has her courage, meaning himself of course. Split screen with Regina calling herself a liar for accepting Tony in spite of her true feelings. They sigh in unison, awwww.

Next morning Renata rubs heads with her favorite stallion, er correction mare, (the white one with four legs). I see she’s wearing short shorts and high heels; she must be ready for her first day at her new job. Gonzo joins her, he wants to do something for the wedding but she says not necessary, it’s going to be an intimate affair and Jero has no family. Gonzo wants a wedding befitting his princess with the most spectacular dress, etc. He tells her she’s always been the favorite darling of his heart and she slyly laughs that she knows, and he of hers.

Creepy music and Fina joins Jero at a restaurant so she can ruin his breakfast and his life. Apparently he called her. She demands what sort of game he’s playing. He says no game, it’s love. She cackles, doesn’t he mind that Renata was with his brother? He won’t let it affect his future, he loves Renata. She says he has disillusioned her, doesn’t he have any dignity? What if Renata never admits her relationship with Rafa? He answers then Fina can rest assured that the secret will remain buried along with Rafael. He’s decided to take Renata to the hacienda so they can far from everything and...everyone. She tells him she’s only concerned about her daughter blah blah go then if you must, and never return.

Back at the stables Mat and Honorio are getting ready for a ride. Honorio’s heard about Renata’s marriage plans. Gonzo says according to Mat Jero’s a good guy but something about it worries him, something he can’t put his finger on. He’s not convinced that marriage to Jero or moving to the hacienda is a good idea for Renata.

Renata tells her almost-new now-not-future boss that she can’t accept the job because she’s going to get married and move out of the city.

Jero shops for a ring, “something simple”, when a pair of earrings catch his eye. They are stylized to look like bunches of grapes, and frankly I think they are fabulous! The salesgirl said a man designed them and had them created for a special woman but he never came to pick them up. How odd. Would he like to purchase them for his special woman? Jero shakes his head and declines, saying she doesn’t deserve them. (What? Dude! $#%*!!!!)

It looks like Renata’s “new boss” is one of Augustin’s associates. He tells Augie that he hired her not as a favor to Augie but because she would be a great asset to their company, but bad news, she declined the job because she’s going to get married. No puede ser! Augie wants to know with whom. New Boss doesn’t know but she’s very much in love and moving to the country. Augie snarls.

Fina returns home where Rob waits to hear the news of Rafa. Fina lies to her daughter, she met with Jero, confirmed Rafa died but she doesn’t know the details, it was some sort of accident. (Mentiras!!) Roberta can’t understand how Jero could be in Mexico all this time and not reveal anything about losing his brother. Fina says he’s one of those guys who hides his feelings. (Oh Fina, if you only knew.) Rob wants to tell him right now what a lout his brother was and she’s expecting his child. Fina nixes this idea and continues to lie to Rob to fill her head full of poison and doubts.

Regina and Coni are stuffing envelopes and Regina is bummed that Renata plans to leave. She likes young folk around and hopes Selene will be a good replacement. Coni comments if she’s anything like Roberta she’s just sniffing around to be close to Chema. Regina thinks that’s cool if it ends up helping the center, could help Sele too.

Oh ick, back to Momma Mean and Mini-Mean. Mom tells her that Jero thinks Renata is La Bonita and she (mom) wants it that way. Mini can’t understand why, if Jero thinks that, he would marry Renata. Fina surmises it’s because at heart Jero is just as bad as Rafa.

Renata visits a bedridden Aggie to cheer Ag and Adri up with her engagement news. Once again Aggie begs Renata to never abandon Adri. They shriek and twitter gleefully over the wedding plans.

Jero runs into Matias. Matias says they need to talk about Renata. Gasp! Cara impacatada de Matias, then Jero, then Matias, then both of them on split screen.

Gah! Enough already with these two. Fina goes on to say that Jero wants to marry Renata for her money just like Rafa only Jero is more patient. He’s waiting for the perfect opportunity to show his claws. Roberta hopes they suffer just like Rafa and she. Fina assures Rob she’ll eventually win. If Renata marries Jero then Roberta can take the place of the favored daughter in the family and when that happens she'll reign triumphant. She who laughs last laughs best.

Matias tells Jero if he doesn’t make Renata happy Jero will answer to him. Jero asks Mat does he think he’s marrying Renata in order to be unhappy? Mat points out that what starts badly can end badly. He also points he’s never known Jero to make such an important decision so quickly. Matias wants to make sure Renata gets everything she deserves. “Oh don’t worry,” threatens Jero, “She’ll get exactly what she deserves.” (Eeps!) Mat finally asks Jero just how much he loves Renata. Jero answers, “Much more than I wanted to.”

Regina and Coni are about to do something when Cata butts in to tell Regina she’s going to take her wedding dress shopping instead. Tony is paying and it’s a surprise. Surely Coni will take care of the Centro while Regina and mom go shopping, right Con? It’s not up for discussion, off they go!

Gonzo meets with Matias to tell him he understands Matias is anxious to move out but he (Gonzo) doesn’t want to leave until Fina gets her results back. I guess they were going to move out together. He suggests Matias get the apartment and Gonzo will join him later. Do it Matias!!! Run like a bunny!!

Lorea from Spain calls Jero. He sees her call but lets it go to voice mail. She sexily tells him she wants to talk see him right away. She heard he was coming back to Spain. Call her, she’ll be waiting. “Te amo.” Jero listens to the message and scowls. Or maybe it’s a smile. I can’t tell with him anymore.

Hooray, we’re in Ensenada. Oh yuck, it’s Dr. Dud and he’s chasing Alfonsina. She tells him to beat it, she’s got to get back to work, but he wants to talk about what happened between them. He wants to talk about The Kiss. He’ll wait for her in his office at 8:00 tonight so they can discuss it calmly. Uh, why can’t you talk about it now Mr. Slimeball?

Also in Ensenada, Lazaro sees Kari and runs the other way. She chases him and their song plays. (It’s Juan Luis Guerra’s Mi Bendición, “When you talk to me I hear a chorus of love for two.” I think we get the picture.) She’s excited for him because he’s going back to school and she’s proud of what a great brother he is to Matilde. She tells him she’s glad they’ll stay at the ranch and she’ll be remaining in town. He doesn’t get it, didn’t she want to live like a queen at La Bonita? She tells him that sort of thing doesn’t make her happy. Ah no? he says, then why did she marry the doctor? He remembers when she couldn’t stop blabbing about how important the doc was for their town so why doesn’t she just stop telling him stories. She cries that she made the wrong choice and her life has become hell.

Spare Girl, looking amazing in her bikini, and Augustin, overdressed, are hanging out on the beach. He rudely tells her she can stay or she can go, it doesn’t matter to him.

Carlos and the staff are cleaning up for Jero and Renata’s arrival. Matilde hates the name Renata. The other maid says Matilde is just jealous which prompts Mati to leave in a huff. Other maid explains to Carlos that when Mati first saw Jero’s picture she fancied herself to one day be the lady of the house. She might not like the new boss-lady but she’ll learn to respect her.

Renata tries on wedding dresses at what will likely be the only Bridal Store in the DF. Well lookee here, it’s Regina and Cata also shopping for una vestida de novia. Regina thinks Renata looks looooovely.

Honorio introduces Blaaaanca Ocaaaaampo around. She meets Matias and he fills her in on the staff and why Adri is out. She’s charmed by the way they treat their employees.

Chema and Coni are together at the Centro. Chema is on the phone trying to get Selene NOT to come over the centro. He says Regina’s not there right now. She hears Coni in the background, calls her a “ruca” (old hag) again and suggests they hook up later. Chema look Coni in the eyes and says Sele might like him but he doesn’t like her.

Meanwhile Sele plots with Roberta to get closer to Chema who always seems to be with Coni. Rob reassures her that Coni’s and old bag who is happily married and wouldn’t look at another guy, much less a kid like Chema. Sele wants Rob to go to the Centro with her and Rob is aghast. No way will she go where the woman who is stealing her dad works.

Adri explains to Regina and Cata that her mom is on the way out. Regina is typically sympathetic. When Renata joins them she finds out that Regina is there to get her own wedding dress. Cata blabs that she hopes this will erase any suspicions that Renata might have about Gonzo and Regina. Regina tells Renata she’s very glad that there are no secrets between Renata and Jero and that they’ve managed to open their hearts to love and forgiveness. Renata, slightly confused, nods politely.

Lazaro and Matilde visit the church where they are surprised by their Madrina! I’m sure the actress is somebody famous but I don’t know who she is and I refuse to check Wikipedia. Anyone know off hand? She says she’s returning to town, hoorays all around!

Gonzo visits Doc Paidinfull who tells Gonzo that Fina’s tumor is inoperable and likely malignant. There is a treatment that might dissolve it but it has side effects. Treatment options must be decided by Fina.

Regina looks fantastic in her wedding dress.

Carlos rides around the vineyards and runs into Spare Girl, now in a sexy off-the-shoulder peasant look. She asks if it’s OK to enjoy the property, she doesn’t want to get involved in the fight between Augi and Jero. Carlos says it’s no problem for him but it might be for Jero. Alfonsina lurks and listens.

Oh creep me out! Dr. Dud sits in his chair grinning like an idiot and recalling his kiss with Alfonsina. Naturally he grabs his flask, guzzles and pants some more. He drools that Alfonsina has awoken all his passions. Gag! Ha! Buzz kill, it’s Augustin to pay a surprise visit. He tells Dr. Dud that he’d better sell Augustin his property abutting La Bonita or he’ll tell Jeronima that doc operated on Rafa with a drunk hand. OK I’m confused, since when did the doc have land next to La Bonita?

Jero meets Renata for lunch. She’s deliriously happy from trying on wedding dresses and her thoughts of their future. Renata mentions she ran into Regina who said something weird about them not having secrets and that they are able to finally open their hearts to love. What was up with that?

Excelente trababjo as always Sylvia! Love the title. Selene is quite a piece of work but she's not dumb. She noticed right away that Chema is head-over-heels for sweet and beautiful Coni.

Speaking of sweet and beautiful, do we think this wedding of Regina's is actually going to happen? How sad that both madre and hija are headed for doomed marriages.

I recognized Lazaro and Mati's Madrina too; IMDb (a much less spoiler-y site than Wiki) says she's Yolanda Mérida. I remember her from Amor Real.

"...for his special woman? Jero shakes his head and declines, saying she doesn’t deserve them. (What? Dude! $#%*!!!!)" I am with you 100%. There are SO many dirty names I wanted to scream at Jero. Just what Renata needs, another person she loves treating her like she's worthless. Qué horror! The "Run like a bunny!!" advice for Matias goes tenfold for Renata.

Amy

Amy, thank you! I do recognize her from Amor Real. I love IMDB and should have checked it.

Should Renata's marriage happen? One half of me says no way, it would happen for all the wrong reasons. The other half that prescribes to the rules of telenovela wants them to because it will keep them together through the rough times. Doesn't that sound stupid? I would never actually say that to someone. Only in telenovelas!

Sylvia, you never disappoint! Just "tres magnifique". (Hey my French is better than my Spanish).

Some nice little tidbits of "Ta-Da" moments last night:
Kari admitted to Laz she's miserable. Flicker of a light-bulb going on over his hat.

Augie finds out Nata is getting hitched (man that guy has his mitts everywhere - the new ex-boss? Gees). Loved that clenched jaw reaction. Hate how he treats that girl (though she stupidly takes it). Please tell me that was not a glimmer of lust between her and Carlos?

Chema has his light bulb blazing, realizing Selene is bad news.Good. Now we know that chick is still going to be trouble - I can see her be the one who spreads Coni/Chema rumors - but who knows. In true TN fashion, may backfire and throw them together. Blanca has now joined the forces. It's still amazes me how much I loved her sweet character in Mi P, and despise her here. Versatile actress.

I think the wedding will go off. Even though we got the "
Jero shakes his head and declines, saying she doesn’t deserve them " last night ( For THAT statement alone - Jero is Mr. I. ), he does love her and deep down, REALLY deep down, there's something in him that believes she didn't drive his brother to suicide. I mean five minutes with the woman should have done that for anyone else, but hey, this is a TN. We just have to watch and waitfor that iota of sense to surface.

Trouble will be that we will have a long spell of Nata being miserable, most likely, before that something happens to bring them back to LALA land.

Gonzo - I mean honestly, he should listen to Honorio. Look at tests results, ask for x-rays...any self-respecting doctor with this kind of diagnosis...oh never mind. He isn't self-respecting. Love the "side-effects". What...she's already a self-serving beyotch with a slimy personality. Maybe the tumor will trigger her "decent human being" neurons?

Why isn't Fina jumping at the bit to just tell everyone Roberta has Rafa's bun in the oven? Rightful heir and all that? I think she's paranoid about the shooting and not thinking this out....her plan is too convoluted, but it will stretch out the TN more, so I guess go for it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Sylvia, I think what you heard here...
que lindan = abutting
was when Augie was telling Alvaro that he wanted to buy Alvaro's land that bordered (colinda) with Rafa's land. I guess he wants to be as close to La Bonita property as he can, maybe to spy on Jero or maybe to do something more harsh, like vandalize the crop (but the crop is his for 3 yrs so what gives). Does he want to vandalize his own purchase and then blame Jero to charge him some more money for it?

great job. I will read the commments and reread te recap later on. Have a great wknd everyone

Ayy, Sylvia, this recap read like a song! And the vocabulary, thank you so much! Let me see, what can I say without whining? Ah, Carlos is always cute and optimistic. . .uh. . .despite all the pain she's suffered Regina still has a heart of gold and sees the best in people. . . .OH, crap, that's boring! THAT FRICKIN' JERO!!! "She doesn't deserve them!" And marrying someone to become a terrorist in their bed. What is the stupid bastard going to do? Why can't we have a noble, principled, righteously hawt galan who battles the baddies for the woman he loves? Tonight is going to be another one of those eat your throat out "kisses" he's done at least three other times. . .what an AH!

Khalilah

Excellent, Syvia, and I really like the title, too.

My favorite line:

"Jero listens to the message and scowls. Or maybe it’s a smile. I can’t tell with him anymore."

Have I mentioned that Jerry creeps me out? He glowers. Renata is not worthy of those earrings? Oh, por favor, you pusillanimous puke. This crud's character flaws cry out for intensive inpatient rehabilitation. Somebody get a net. For me, hands down favorite again for Mr. Inappropriate for that crack about the earring (actually, at the moment just for taking up valuable space)... next!

How is it that arguably the smartest, best looking woman attracts only losers? I'm speaking, of course, of Alfonsina.

As much as I dislike Jerry, who appointed Matias as Renata's protector? So now he's back to being a vigilant brother? Excuse me if I gag.

I'm thinking that Roberta is salvageable. I look for her to turn that wrath on her mom when she finally learns the truth, and may come to see that her sister is not too bad after all.

Cheryl, I hope that you and Willa are OK. Those fires are very frightening. Take care.

Carlos

Good morning all!

Daisy, I fear it was a glimmer of interest indeed between Carlos and Spare Girl. Matilde's jealousy and the maid's explanation that she wanted to be Mrs. El Hermoso has set Carlos up for that. I'm guessing he will get his shot at Mr. Inappropriate before too long. Poor dumb guy, but that remains to be seen. I'm still baffled as to why Spare Girl is hanging around.

ITA that Jero is still firmly in first place for Mr. I. Marta's term Anti-Hero is very apt indeed. Doc Distorted seemed to have Mr. I for a moment but he was more creepy than anything else. I was quite tickled when Augie ruined his little fantasy.

Marta, I was trying to figure out what Augustin's plan is too. I thought that maybe water went through the doc's property and Augustin could dam it up somehow, but yeah, it would ruin the crop that is supposedly his. I don't get it. Maybe the penalty that Jero paid included not having to sell Augie the grapes?

Khalilah, "a terrorist in their bed", LOL! What a great way to put it.

Carlos, we baby boomers will get my title, not sure if anyone else will. I do hope Selene doesn't go all Jessica Walter on us. I enjoyed your rant on Jero. Let me just add, "What he said!"

As horrible as Roberta is, let us not forget that her greatest crime so far is a weak spirit. She has allowed herself to be beaten down and pushed around by her terrible mom while Renata has not. When we met her as an adult she was at a crossroads and about to strike out on her own. Instead she fell back into the snake pit of lies that Fina has concocted. Roberta has become so sick with envy she'll do anything to get back at Renata for all her perceived "crimes".

You're right Sylvia, the last time we saw anything like sympathy and sisterly love was when Fina cut Renata's braids off. . .Fina has radar for any noble, soft, emotion in Roberta and immediately swooped down upon Roberta screeching and stomping out any empathy she was feeling for her sister. It's always been that way. Hey. . .where's the pregnancy?

Khalilah

"pusillanimous puke"

Carlos, I adore your straight-forwardness! Not lovin; Jero much huh? Right now, don't think any of us are. He is getting up there with TDA's Max as the hero who's neck you'd like to wring. I still hold out a glimmer of hope for him since I love Renata too much to be stuck with a jerk at the end. (On TDA - Maria bugs the daylights out of me too - so don't care).

Sylvia - did get your reference on the title. Good one - I think Selene is on that path. ( but have to say - Chema is a bit hotter than Clint E. for this oldie. )

Oh, and I had forgotten that info he found out about Math hankering after the Boss. So Carlos will think she wouldn't be interested. Argh...oh well. Plot purpose. Tick off Augie to lose both women to Bonita men.

Daisy, maybe Spare Girl's not so dumb after all? She'll make Augie jealous to pique his interest? I suspect a day or so of hanging around La Bonita and she'll be ready to move in. We haven't seen Augie's digs yet but I for one LOVE the hacienda La Bonita with its expansive porch, big well-stocked kitchen and acres of vineyards, sigh.

Cheryl, as Carlos said I hope you and Willa (and poor Cisco) are doing OK. I can't believe the vast area that has been burned in Arizona! My heart goes out to all those who have been affected.

no, Jero still has to give the next 3 yrs crop to Augie... he already paid for that. But when he announced he would not sell, he told Augie, I will give you the first 3 yrs crop and THATS IT... you will NEVER own La Bonita or the vineyards.

Love the title, Sylvia. Yes Selene does seem to be tuning into quite the stalker. I've always liked this actress. I hope she turns back to the light & ends up ok.

Poor Roberta. I think we saw how much she did love Rafael. She might have been saved if she had run off with him -- though as I recall she had no interest in living in the hinterlands. Her reaction to life on the hacienda stands in sharp contrast to Renata's. Berta tried to talk Rafa out of life in the country but Nata says -- it's not what I planned for my life but to be with you, mi amor, I will go anywhere. Even so -- Roberta is only self centered & weak. She's not evil.I hope the happy smile in the intro scenes where she is stomping grapes means that she will end up well.

Gotta agree about Jero & the "she doesn't deserve them" remark. I'm glad he didn't buy them though -- those were the earrings Auggie designed & commissioned as an engagement gift or something for Renata.

(I wonder, did Roberta save the letter in her own mother’s handwriting allegedly written by Rafael?) ABSOLUTELY!!! And Jero gave Carlos the letter Fina wrote supposedly written by Roberta… that could be how the Fina plan gets unravelled but not before months and months of agony for Nata.

Gonzo and Gina sighing together about not being brave enough to do what Nata is doing … aaawwww… LOL!! Good one!

The grape bunch earrings… I too think they are fabulous!!! Jero you are a JERK!!!

back to Momma Mean and Mini-Mean…. LOL!! Too funny

I don’t know about you but Matt should have seen a LOTTA RED FLAGS with Jero’s responses here…

Dr Death, Dr Yuck and now Mr Slimeball…. I would not want to be him walking around…

In the Lazaro and Kari conversation when he asked her why she married Dr then? She said she thought the Dr was the best man she had ever met… but she was wrong. This froze Lazaro for a moment… Did I say I love that JLG song? Have to find the name and the album its in… I want it! Love his slow bachatas like that one the best… and his merengues too but he is a great pen for romantic verse for sure.

Regina tells Renata she’s very glad that there are no secrets between Renata and Jero and that they’ve managed to open their hearts to love and forgiveness. Renata, slightly confused, nods politely. Now its Renata who should see LOTTA RED FLAGS… Run, Renata !!! RUN!!!

absolutely! she was Dona Juana (Cata's aunt) from Amor Real. Wonderful character and her performance was masterful.

Marta, thank goodness you have an eye and an ear for detail. So Jero DOES have to give up the first three years crops to Augie. Hmmm...I wonder what Augie is up to then? I wonder if Spare Girl is just curious about La Bonita or doing undercover work for Augie? Probably not the latter because he was so rude to her.

And hooray both letters are saved! These will surely help implicate Fina at the end.

Thanks for that detail in the conversation between Kari and Lazaro. Just shows that good people can make bad mistakes. Yep, Kari pretty much left Lazaro speechless.

Güera, Augie designed those earrings? I assumed Rafa had but he probably didn't have the money. Also, Augie seems to be a bit of an artist so that makes sense. But ooooh, wouldn't it have been a slap in Augie's face for Renata to show up in his earrings but with Jero getting the credit? It's too delicious!

I know Roberta griped about moving to the country and told mom or Sele she didn't really love Rafa but I think she really really did. I hope to see her happily stomping grapes at the end too, with baby Rafa at her side and enjoying his/her daddy's legacy.

I'm going to speak for Judy since she is on her way to the grandkiddies for the weekend - we LOVE Juan Luis Guerra as well. He writes the hottest, most romantic lyrics evah!

I love watching Augie simmer and boil, it's my favorite part of the show (except maybe for any scene with Alfonsina). Just think of how it could be if she shows up in Hooterville on Jerry's arm wearing the earrings that Augie designed. The poor guy would have a stroke.

About Renata's horse, I thought when she introduced it to Jerry, he said, "So my competition is a caballo (horse)?" and she replied, actually she's a yegua (mare). I've been wrong before, however.

Carlos

sorry my prev post was about Yolanda Merida, here playing Lazaro and Mati's godmother.

Please tell me that was not a glimmer of lust between her and Carlos? I hope not but i am not holding my hopes high that it wont happen.

Jero is Mr. I., he does love her and deep down, REALLY deep down, there's something in him that believes she didn't drive his brother to suicide.

ROFLOL!!! ITA!!

Carlos,
I'm thinking that Roberta is salvageable. I look for her to turn that wrath on her mom when she finally learns the truth, and may come to see that her sister is not too bad after all. I want to see that too, which is probably the BIGGEST deviation from the 98 version, where Virginia was the hopeless EVIL one in the show… there was no Fina, Gonzo’s wife was a good woman who was just blinded by Virginia’s lies but she was ‘Matias’ mom and Virginia was an orphan child of a friend of theirs, I think, who they picked up and raised alongside Matias and Nata (who was also the child of a good friend and colleague of Gonzo’s) So its like reverse roles between Fina/Roberta and Sara/Virginia in the two versions… here the older one is the villain and the younger one is the ‘follower’… in the older version the older one was the follower and the younger one was the villain mastermind, Sara was the one she used to get her plans fulfilled … along with her ‘sidekick’ guy who did the hard labor (killing) for her. Here the same actor, Luis Gatica, plays Lazaro…

Oh Sylvia, I just knew it was you when the story line glides across the bay, your silver pen flowing (silver keyboard just doesn't sound as romantic) with humor and acute insights. Thanks for making my second cup of coffee such a pleasure this morning. Great title too!

Well, our Anti-Jero is quite a piece of work. It occurred to me that maybe the only jewelry store in town is where Rafa ordered those earrings and never came back to get them. Maybe too much of a stretch but after the wedding gown store scene, I am willing to believe any coincidence.

We could have a most meddling mother medal lately. Regina's Mom who is pushing an ill-fated marriage on her daughter is a distant second to Fina wo is being so cruel to her favorite Roberta. I feel Renata is lucky she is constantly rejected openly by Fina. It has helped give her a backbone to rely on herself. I too feel sorry for Roberta, she isn't being allowed to develop any natural life.

Spare Girl is so beautiful and seems to have a sweet side. I hope she is drawn to sweet and kind Carlos even though Matilde may miss out by pining for the two bossmen. SG so does not deserve Augie's disdain, sheesh, the poor girl can't even enjoy a good swim.

Hey Carlos, I think you are right about the yegua conversation. I just got carried away with the cheap jokes of dual stallion imagery, but we did find out about the white beauty in that early scene.

Thanks for the kind concern for Willa and me. This smoke is so tiresome but I am more concerned first about the people in Arizona who have been threatened or already lost their homes and special thoughts go out for all the wild life who may have not escaped. We need a redistribution of water in this country so everyone can get what they need.

OMG how beautiful!!
here is the lyrics of ‘Mi Bendicion’ (this is in his 'guerra' album from early this yr)

Tus ojos, tus ojos divinos

Agustin designed the gorgeous grape bunch earrings, that was part of the drawings his new girlfriend thought were about her. But he designed them personally and ordered them specifically for Nata.

to all those in AZ and the affected areas... hang in there, we are all here praying for you all.

Really, really cool recap!

Am flummoxed also. What will the writers do? There is so much going own and so many directions this all could take that I am just going to wait it out.

A in Baraboo.

Oh Guera, I just read your remark about Augie designing the grape earrings. I thought it could have been Rafa but he was pouring all his money into developing La Bonita.

Sad but strange how Roberta is now angry about La Bonita being named for her by her beloved Rafa now going to be the province of her hated sister Renata. Roberta is having some aha moments on what she really lost by spurning Rafa's proposals. He is the only person who loved her, though Renata is always trying to be loving and sisterly. Roberta is a sad victim who is so snotty it is hard to feel sorry for her.

Martaivett,

My profa's favorite is Burbujas de Amor. There's something about it that just makes me feel happy.

Carlos

Carlos, yes you are right about the yegua. I remember now.

Marta, thank you for the full lyrics.

Burbujas de Amor is my favorite too! I translated it once into English and it just wasn't as romantic. Best to leave it in Spanish.

A in B, I am wondering about so many things! There are a lot of side plots in this one. Will they all link together? They should somehow.

Cheryl, thank you for your kind words. Way back when I actually used to write out my recaps and then transcribe into blogger. Thankfully I got a laptop which improved the system a lot.

I felt so bad for Spare Girl. She's just being nice to a friend with benefits. Even if Augie wants her to leave he should be a gentleman about it. She has a very athletic physique. At the very least she could be a good workout partner. Oh. I guess she is, heh.

Sylvia, this sparkled and shone like the purest of gold. The vocabulary and dicho were wonderful and much appreciated. You speckled this with your marvelous sly humor "Rob is like a deranged terrier with a dirty sock" and of course, "Fina joins Jero at a restaurant so she can ruin his breakfast and his life". Indeed!

I completely agree with you - my heart went out to Roberta. Renata transcended her mother's vitriol but Roberta was poisoned with it. Her mother spoke her venom, debilitating her daughter from an early age. Wormtongue. Blech.

Carlos, your comments were bright and breezy - I'm still smiling.

Wish I could read the summaries and comments more often. So, for now will simply say thank you.

Happy Friday all.

Diana

Sylvia, thanks for the excellent recap and vocabulary. Great read.

One question, though...is the dicho missing at the end? I am curious as to how that is worded in Spanish. It's a good one.

I vote for the first wedding dress for Renata, the simpler one. I think it's way prettier than the gaudy fancier princess dress she was holding that Adriana was trying to talk her into.

I don't mind Spare Girl and hope she'll eventually turn on Augie, but don't like her connecting with Carlos. He's got to make a move on my girl Mati soon or I'll be mad. I need for someone to be happy!

Julia, how very odd. The Spanish dicho showed up when I went into blogger to edit, but did NOT show when I published. I believe it is there now. Let me know it it's not. (However I'm out the door until Sat. night so have a great weekend everyone!)

Sylvia,
Rob is like a deranged terrier with a dirty sock..

ROFLOL!!! i know exactly what that looks like, we had a terrier mutt when I had my first baby and he could jump to higher than our heads and when he got obsessed with something on the floor he would go beserk...so I remember that vision clearly... too funny.

Did anyone recognize Jose Ron in Muchachitas como tu in the weekend mornings/aft? I barely recognized him until saw a close up, saw his eyes and smile and heard him talk... Ariadne Diaz (Llena de Amor) is also there... i think they are a couple if not the lead c.
