Cuando Me Enamoro #42 Friday 6/17/11 "Revenge is a poison meant for others that we swallow ourselves."

Hola, queridos! I was a a baseball game until the wee hours of the morning, so this one is a day late. The title came from a quote I read years ago that always stuck with me. It's definitely true in this case. Jero is poisoning his own relationship with Renata out of a revenge that will only hurt him in the end. Anyway, on with the show!

We begin with Jero unceremoniously dictating that Lazaro should take Renata's luggage to the guest bedroom. Everyone stares at Jero in disbelief. Nata asks for a minute alone with Jero and the guys oblige.

R: What's wrong with you? First, I have to choose between consoling my best friend at her mother's funeral or coming with you to the hacienda because you have too many things to do. Now you're saying we are not even going to sleep in the same bedroom?!
J: I wanted to respect your space.
R: Why did you send your groundskeeper to pick me up at the airport instead of coming to get me yourself?
J: I couldn't make it.
R: What could be more important than picking up your wife who has only been married to you for two days?!
J: What's the problem? You're here now.
R: There is a problem! On top of all that, you put me in the guest bedroom like I'm a stranger. I am your wife, Jeronimo! This is our honeymoon, I love you and I want us to be together always.
J: We will be. But I like to sleep alone. I am used to it.

Renata doesn't understand Jero at all. Why didn't he tell her about this beforehand? Jero has no excuse. It's just the way things are now. Bleh.

Agustin and Dr. Nesme walk through the fields and chat about the arrival of Jero's wife. Augie is most interested in meeting her.

Honorio hands over some paperwork to Matias. He wants Adriana to go over it before they finish because Hon wants Adri to feel more important within the company. Matias tells his Tio that he and Adriana have a thing for each other. Honorio has no problem with it, though he does tell Mat that he needs to move on from Renata. Mat still loves Nata but promises not to play games with Adri.

Gonzo visits Constanza to talk to her about Adriana. No matter what decision Coni makes, Gonzo will support her. "Just think it through, first. Honorio is a great guy; don't leave him and then regret it later."

Daniel, rather unprofessionally, pours his heart out to Blanca about the huge crush he has on Adriana. Too bad she has a thing for Honorio. Blanca tells him to cool it. Honorio could be Adri's father; there's nothing to worry about there. Adri must be feeling lonely at the moment, which would make this the perfect opportunity for Danny to get close to her. Blanca will happily give Danny Boy lessons on office-seductrism if he really wants to charm Adri.

Adriana steps into Matias's office. She had to come to work because she is so alone in the house without her madre. Mat gives her a hug. Too bad a sweet moment in this episode doesn't last long. Mat suddenly gets snappy and sends Adri to work with Blanca and Daniel.

Jero introduces Renata to all the employees at the hacienda. Everyone receives her very well, except Matilde, who gives Nata the stink eye and leaves the introduction early. Nata asks Manuela to make whatever she would like for dinner; once they get to know each other better, Nata would love to cook with her. Nata thinks the entire staff is fabulous but she could tell that Mati was in a funk. "Mati has a moody disposition; she'll come around soon." Carlos says.

Nata is thrilled when Carlos offers to show her the vineyard and the grape fields. Jero declines to go with them. Nata, visibly hurt, goes off to the guest room to change. Carlos accosts Jero for being such a prig. "You're not only neglecting your wife, you're being very rude."

Jero's thoughts brew once he is alone. "To have her here is going to be very difficult. The hacienda you thought was for her, Rafael. The place where she would be happy by your side. I swear that she will never be happy here or in any other place." Vete al diablo, Jeronimo. You are the most odious galan I have ever seen.

Manuela and Lazaro warn Matilde to cut out the theatrics. The new Patrona could have her fired for behaving so childishly. Mati is sure Jero wouldn't fire her. He is her boss, not Renata. Nata and Jero are a couple but Mati can tell there's trouble in paradise. Plus, Mati has a feeling she has seen Nata somewhere before. Manuela tells her to stop being such a spoilsport by ruining Jero's honeymoon.

Gonzo and Regi's love theme plays as Gonzo opens an invitation to the upcoming gala at Regi's center. He makes a call to confirm that the Monterrubios will certainly be in attendance.

Renata unpacks her suitcase in the guest room. She holds up a silky orange nighty and tosses it in a pile. It seems like she will have no use for it, as far as Jero is concerned. Meanwhile Fina presents Roberta with a bunch of new maternity clothes. Robi complains about getting fat but Fina tells her to shut it. She is excited to be an abuela and tells Robi that babies are perfect for pressuring men.

Regina and Constanza have a heart-to-heart about Adriana. If Regi were in Coni's shoes, she would offer Adriana the chance to live in her home. It would be a gesture of love; if for no other reason than that Coni loves Honorio. He would be so grateful if Coni accepted Adriana into the family. Coni is still conflicted, even though everyone has given her the same advise. Regi takes that as a sign. If they all agree, then it must be for a reason. Regi tells Coni to take advantage of the opportunity to have a daughter in her life.

Honorio asks Adriana if she really wants to be back at work so soon. "It keeps me busy." Adri says. Honorio can't ignore the elephant in the room and wants to have a serious talk.

A dour Coni arrives for work at the centro. She tells Chema about Regi's advice. Chema respects Regi but disagrees. These things take time and having Adri move in might be a little hasty. Coni is happy to have someone understand how she feels but doesn't look as though she's made a decision yet.

Adriana cries as she explains to Honorio that she has always liked him as a boss and appreciates all that he has done for her. But she still can't think of him as a father. It doesn't matter to Honorio. He just wants to be able to help her, protect her, and share his life with her. Honorio wants to give Adri all that he never had the opportunity to in the past. Adri sobs that she misses her mother so much. No one can ever take her place but she does want to be close to her padre. Adriana places a hand on his face as they both cry.

Selene and Robi gossip as they play cards in Robi's room. Selene is still set on snagging Chema, even though he only has eyes for Constanza. Robi's antenna goes up. "What would Tio Honorio say if he knew that Coni had another man? How fun would it be to watch the ideal couple start to break up." Selene doesn't care about that. It would only hurt her quest for Chema if Coni were divorced from Honorio. Robi says forget it, her Tios would never split anyway. They move on to more important topics like how much Robi hates Nata. FFWD...

Dr. Nesme meets with Jero. He wants to buy the doctor's land but it isn't the doctor's to sell anymore. Augie comes out of the shadows to reveal that he is Jero's new partner.

Carlos walks Renata around the fields. She is positively in love with the place. They munch on grapes and Carlos introduces Nata to Alfonsina. Nata asks Alfi how the hacienda got it's name and Alfi has no qualms about telling the truth. "The former owner Rafael named it La Bonita after his girlfriend." Nata asks what La Bonita's real name was but Alfi tells her that no one knows.

Augie will only sell the land when he feels like it. Right now, it isn't for sale. Jero seethes as Augie waltzes out victorious. Conveniently, Renata and Carlos arrive from a horseback ride just in time for Nata to run into Augie. They hug and Nata explains that the hacienda is her new house; she married Jero!

Dr. Show-Me-The-Money compliments Fina on her swindling Gonzo. He totally bought the tumor story. Fina says now is the time for phase two. She cuts him a check so he will tell Gonzo that her cancer has gotten worse and she is meant for the grave. Viewerville can only hope.

Augie recovers from the shock long enough to share a laugh with Nata. She explains to Carlos that she met Augie because Gonzo's company exports Augie's wine. Augie introduces Dr. Nesme, who is probably leaving to soak himself in a bottle of tequila. Carlos excuses himself to speak with Jero. Augie tells Nata that Jero and his employees hate him for business reasons. He had heard about Nata getting married and can't believe he lost his chance. Nata asks what he meant by that and Augie clarifies he "missed the chance to attend the wedding". Uh-huh, sure. Augie invites Nata to visit him at his hacienda any time.

Jero has reached a boiling point after Augie's business deal. Carlos has news that will only make Jero even more angry. Augie and Nata are amigos; they're outside talking this very second.

Renata tells Augie that she fell in love with Jero the moment she saw him. The second Nata tells Augie she will stay friends with him despite his disagreements with Jero, el Jerko himself storms into the yard. He calls Augie an enemy of La Bonita and tells him to get out. Jero gruffly tells Nata that he does not want her near Augie. Renata scoffs at Jero for telling her who she can be friends with.

Jerko follows Nata into the house where their argument can be overheard by practically everyone. Nata does not like it when anyone tells her what she should do or how she should feel. The Augie she knows is an educated gentleman. Jerko says Augie is only playing games with her to irritate him. Nata calls Jero out. "And what exactly is it that you're doing? We've been married two days and I have seen a whole new Jero that I do not like." Jerko drops the attitude and pulls Nata into a hug.

Mati revels in the fight between Nata and Jero. For some silly reason, she takes Jero's side. "The woman should always take her husband's side." Somehow I doubt Mati practices what she preaches.

Dr. Lecherous T. Pervert gropes Alfonsina and forces a few kisses on her. Alfi tells him to get lost. He heads straight for the bar and vows to make Alfi his. Ezequiel chats with Karina at the market. Zeke has no idea how Kari handles the doctor's temper. Kari defends her marriage; she hopes she can get pregnant soon and then things will get better. Zeke and I both agree that a baby won't solve any of their problems.

Jero huffs and puffs in his office while Renata showers. She can't get their wedding night out of her head. "Where is that man I fell in love with?"

Regina looks longingly at the newest picture of her daughter, thinking her usual thoughts. Ines tells Regi to reserve 4 places at the gala for the Monterrubios. Regi thinks it would be too painful for her to have Gonzo present but there's nothing they can do about it now. Regi hopes she can keep her compromiso with Antonio.

Jero and Nata meet near a grape-stomping pit. I would have to guess it's the famous one from the entrada. Renata thinks the vineyard is beautiful. Jero admits that he is happy to have Renata there. He asks how Adriana is doing. Nata fills him in on how difficult it has been for her amiga but the good news is Adri found out that Honorio is her father. Nata can't believe the surprises life has had in store. Jero comments that their love was certainly a surprise. They went through a lot to find each other. Jero and Nata kiss in front of a breath-taking landscape.

Spare-girl-Arely bounds into Augie's office. She asks what he's going to do with the lands now that he's taken them from Jero. Augie says she will find out in time. Arely questions Augie about Jero's new wife and Augie's good mood fades. He calls it a shame that Renata, such an intelligent and beautiful woman, should have married Jero. Arely is offended that Augie seems to think Nata's only flaw is that she's with Jero.

Adriana tries to get Matias to talk about what has him so down in the dumps. He agrees to meet with her later to chat.

Renata tells Jero about Matias striking up a relationship with Adriana. She approves since she loves the both of them so much. Jero hopes that Nata doesn't regret having stayed with him. "Prove it to me that I did make the right decision." Nata says. She admits that her family did not support her but what matters most is that the two of them are happy. Jero stops listening and starts inner-monologuing. "You are so beautiful. How difficult it is to have you close."

Gonzo asks Matias to help him find out who is the father of Robi's baby. Mat lets slip that Robi told him the jerk's identity. Gonzo presses Mat to spill it.

Avances: Renata tries to seduce Jero but ends up sobbing on the floor. Do you really want to know anything else?

Vocab:
arrepentir - to regret (Gonzo to Constanza, and Jero to Nata)
mal humorado/a - moody, bad-tempered.
grosero - rude, nasty, unpleasant. (Jero. That is all.)
aguafiestas - spoilsport, killjoy. (Manuela to Matilde)

OK I will!!

1) Luckily we didn't have to wait long for Renata to start defending herself. You go girl. It's Jero's fault that the warmest welcome she received was by his nemesis Augustin. I like the way she told Jero he can't give her orders.

2) We also didn't have to wait long for someone to reveal to Renata that Jero's brother's name is Rafael. Alfonsina spilled the beans right off the bat. However Renata still doesn't know it's the Rafa she knew and was looking for.

Amy, hope you had fun at the game.

Yah, Sylvia! That was grrreat! You know, Jerko's attempt at humiliating Renata in front of the house staff and his closest friend, Carlos, will actually work to Renata's advantage by earning her some sympathic allies. Everybody was left boca abierta impactada when he ordered her things put in the guest room. Everyone with sense (minus the stupid Mati) will be on her side.

The scene in the preview of him telling her to rest as he left the room after she had gotten all dolled up for a night of passion rekindles my contempt for him. Oh how she crumpled, broken and shocked to the floor. I hope she maintains her friendship with Auggie! I wonder if Auggie (having seen the carving tree) will figure out why Jerko is being an a.h. and keep it to himself in hopes of eventually winning Renata forever?

Okay, for ease of typing and because I think maybe somebody referred to me as "Kelly" yesterday (could be wrong, maybe there's a Kelly on the board) and for ease of typing I'm going to henceforth and forever more all myself "Lila", short for Khalilah (Kha-lee-lah). I have been called "Aunt Lila" so what the heck. I'm fond of the folks on this board and if I keep watching this I'm going to need to do a lot of therapeutic posting (and might get up the nerve to cap one day!) and this makes it easier.

Lila

Lila, thanks for the nickname. I like Aunt Lila too. We did have a Kelly post yesterday. I don't think any of us would mix you up with anyone else! I'm certain you would be an excellent recapper.

ITA that Jerko's rudeness to Renata will definitely get all his staff on her side. I'll bet even Mati will be Renata's pal before too long. She (Mati) seems to have a pretty well-developed sense of what is right and what is wrong, and Jero's behavior is WRONG.

Oooh, interesting idea regarding Auggie figuring out the mystery of the tree carving. I wouldn't put it past him nor, at this point, would I blame him.

The previews of Renata were painful.

One more thing I forgot to say in my original post, I am some kind of sap because the scene with Adriana and Honorio made me cry. Yes I had to get a tissue! I guess this telenovela is affecting me more than I cared to admit.

Not a sap at all! One is left looking for tenderness what with Fina and Roberta constantly spewing bile and now Jerko as well. I have seen interactions between actors that were so real and emotionaly evocative that I looked forward to the show for a kind of respite and release from the cares of the day -- yeah, these are fine actors and I'm not saying the storyline is poor but the relationship which I usually look to for fantasy fulfillment I fear is going to be acutely painful til the last week! I hope the writers if they don't give us some fun and occasional lust, that they at least "try a little tenderness."

Lila

Yeah, I was relieved that Renata gave good back yesterday. It made me feel much better. Jerko just thinks he can order her around? I'm so glad she set him straight.

They keep stomping on the previews here, so I never get the tease for what happens next. Oh right, I'm recapping Monday - I better pay attention. Hee, hee! A great chance for me to add a few choice words!

Love Adriana and Honorio together too!

Did I mention that I use Adriana when I go to a Mexican restaurant? Down here they just can't handle an old English name like Audrey.

Audrey

Love the nickname - had a wonderful co-worker named Lila once.
I'm with you both, not a sap getting a little teary over the Hon-Ad scene. It was so well-down. I love when neither actor much cares of how they look, they just get into the moment. Forgot I was watching a TN for awhile.

I really enjoyed Nata's show of strength, and I think Jeers may be stunned at how she's going to throw his cruelty right back in his face. Or I hope. He may not realize that she is not someone that can be "broken" easily. He may wind up being the one going bonkers - GOOD :)

Interesting idea about Augie and the tree - or that sweet little chick - she needs to have a purpose, and she loves that spot - maybe she'll be the one to point it out to someone besides Augie.

Nata is falling hard for the hacienda it seems, which will totally go against what the "Bonita" had told Rafa -Maybe he's seeing that already with the few brain cells he has firing right now?

I just want someone to bring her dear stallion to the hacienda - why is noone thinking of that? Argh!

Audrey, that's a cute story about Adriana being your alternate name.

Daisy, not that they care about such things in telenovelas, but I'll bet the logistics to transport a horse from the DF to Ensenada would be a big deal. I'm not sure anyone would want to do it in a trailer, it's around 3,000 miles. I guess horses can travel by air but it would likely take a special plane of some sort. Of course since the Monterrubios are wealthy anything is possible.

Maybe sweet spare girl will point the heart out to Carlos? Nah, too easy!

If Jero is Jeers then Renata should be Cheers.

¡Hola Amigos!

It’s such a privilege and pleasure to share with all you nice people thoughts about this TN.

And you recappers, are so super to devote so much of your time to help those of us whose Spanish falls short of the mark to catch the meaning of so many things said too rapidly or in phrases difficult to decipher.

Then when you throw in the too-often flawed CC, things can be nightmarish for comprehension.

Back to the ranch: I agree with Audrey, Vivi (?), Carlos, and los otros. The writers here deserve a great big fat “F. ” Jero’s post-marital character change pulled on us is off the wall. Only alcohol, drugs, or illness can bring about that kind of personalty change. Jero is suddenly 180 from Señor Perfecto he was pre-marriage. He’s now an SOB.

Sure, all Tns to varying degrees are implausible, but this script is for the birds. Imagine any red-blooded male, who before tying the knot was as enthralled, enamored with a gorgeous, adorable woman, and then in their second night of marital bliss sentencing her to a separate bedroom. No way, José.

Writers, you insult our intelligence. And as some of you have opined, it makes some of us less interested in watching. I guess we don’t want to see sweet Renata abused and fall into the snares of Augie, the villian.

And we want our galán ser honrado, bueno, galante, not a wife-abuser.

Farmer

Hi all/Lila. Kelly here. Maybe Renata could find a friend in Augustin's girlfriend (what is here name again?, which would irritate both the men. The girlfriend has to serve a purpose, and she doesn't seem all bad. She kept Alfonsina's secret, after all. Pretty sure Matilde will come around. Totally unreasonable love expectations, but otherwise a fun character. She may be the only one who speaks her mind and lord knows a telenovela needs at least one like that.

And they'd better come up with some deep, psychological problem to explain Jero. He still has the theme song going for him, but that's about it.

Now Carlos, on the other hand...total babe even without Enrique in the background.

Sorry for my tardiness this week! It was a beautiful night for a baseball game. The only bad thing about the Indians winning was traffic afterwards. Dios mio, it seemed like the entire city was out and about last night.

I have to say I felt a "You go, girl!" coming on when Renata refused to let Jero control her. I'm thrilled that we have a female protagonist who won't take this nonsense lying down. It's too bad that the avances for Monday look so disheartening.

No saps here, just appreciation for a good scene! I got a little misty during Adri and Honorio's scene too. I'm hoping the Hon/Coni/Adri part of the story stays relatively peaceful until we get over this "el Jerko" phase. I'm not sure I can take all these characters in misery at the same time, though it always seems to happen that way.

Farmer, we recappers appreciate commenters (and lurkers!) so much. If it weren't for you, our recaps would float around in cyberspace without any readers. Muchas gracias! Agreed that the writers have taken a strange left-turn with Jero's character. It's a bold move, so let's hope they have a good reason for it.

Amy

Amy, your recap was certainly worth waiting. What an amazingly appropriate title. I will remember it forever just like you did. It sounds like a perfect dicho but I don't recall ever seeing something like it.

When Renata asked Alfonsina who is the real La Bonita couldn't Carlos figure tell that Renata knows nothing about any La Bonita, the ranch or the person?

"Somehow I doubt Mati practices what she preaches." Well said Amy! I doubt Mati would put up with any crap from Jero or anyone else.

Kelly, I'm glad you checked back in with us. I like your idea about Renata and Arely (Spare Girl) making friends. They are both rather lonely right now and could use a good friend.

Carlos is a complete hottie. I remember in Destilando Amor he would occasionally hoe the fields shirtless. What a treat that was. I'm hoping for something similar in this one.

Amy, thanks again for your dedication. I'm glad that you were rewarded with the victory of your team.

Kelly! You do exist! LOL! Khalilah here,I'm sorry, I had never seen your name and sometimes people have called me Kelly or K because Khalilah is so different. . Anywho, I hope that Spare Girl will be a friend to Renata as well AND she does know the secret of the carving tree and maybe she will innocently show Renata this cool, serene place to chill out with this awesome old gnarled tree. . . !

Can't wait to read the cap!

Lila

Wait a minute! Alfi told Dr. Yuck to get lost?!? Seems like last week she was so hot for him she was melting. I totally can't figure out what is going on between these two!

Thanks so much for the recap Amy. It was well worth the wait. Great commentary.

FWIW - the is a huge ferry to Baja California from the mainland. But the departure is still very far from Mexico City and the arrival in La Paz which is WAY south of Ensenada. Yep - the horse transport thing does seem like a major deal.

Yep - I am totally appreciating Carlos2 too. What an amazing contrast to Jerko.

One thing I can't figure out is what is Renata going to do with herself now that she is at the winery? She's used to working. Jerko doesn't want to spend any time with her. She'll have to find something to keep herself busy.

Audrey

Great recap, thank you! I sometimes miss a day or two here and there of this TN, so I appreciate the recaps very much!

El Jerko is basically throwing Renata into Augie's arms! Now I know that Renata won't really fall into Augie's arms, but Jerko is being a Jerk and Augie is being nice, so who would you want to hang out with?

Too bad that Augie is a bad guy, he's quite lovely to look at. And I like Carlos too. He's really growing on me.

I'm glad that Renata is not going to be a doormat. You go girl!

Well, I am greatly relieved that Renata is taking this strong womanly stance to being mistreated. Nothing is wrong with this woman's basic sefl-esteem. When they were being friendly and flirty at the wine stomping pit, I distinctly enjoyed hearing her say that Jerko should NOT make her sorry that she married him. He shows us he is capable of changing his behavior when he sees a glimpse of what he will lose and then there is Augie who is at the ready to help Renata out if she should suffer.

I like Lila, Kahlilah, and I too had a wonderful friend back in my Boston days named that. Audry, I like Adriana too. My alias when I need one is Carla since many Spanish speakers don't take to Cheryl easily and it is a diminutive of Charles so it works in explanations too.

I teared up at the Adriana/Honorio scene too. So many other characters are being dreadful to each other that the tenderness really grabbed me. Constanza, you are an idiot! Even those smoking baby blues of Chema's are not going to equal the deep character and kindness in Honorio.

As I have said, I love all these clues the writers have spread out for us to see and the idiot characters to find out. I can't wait to see who gets the trees message first that understands what it means. Augie will hide it but I have hopes for Arely who has no real flaws except a little doormattiness. Otherwise, she seems to have a sense of justice and compassion. She could make a better mix with Carlos since Mati may stay stupid too long. I think she is adorable but way too bratty. I did enjoy the other housekeeper telling her she has not experience in marriage to be spouting off like she is about standing by your man blindly.

Yikes...for those of us who have had marital issues, this is VERY painful to watch. Will hope the final outcome is therapeutic. But ugh and double ugh for right now.

So you're a Cleveland Indians fan Amy. So was I back in '48 when they won the pennant. My daughter however is true blue to the Reds, and attends their games or the Columbus Clippers games whenever possible. Anyway, hope both teams do well...Ohio could use something to celebrate, sports-wise right now.

Thanks for the heartfelt recap and nice vocabulary. Like everyone else, I was relieved that Renata would fire back and bring Jeronimo up short. Doesn't take away from the pain and hurt she feels, but shows she does have self-esteem, in spite of her wretched treatment from Fina. And anger feels better than despair.

Khalilah....love the new Lila moniker. Since I'm challenged spelling-wise, it took me forever to be able to type your name without double-checking. And you always made such interesting posts, I usually wanted to reply. So "Lila" really works for me.

Audrey..I love that name too (Audrey Hepburn...one of my faves) but Adriana is beautiful as well. "Judith" doesn't work well in French or Spanish. I've had people tell me it's not a nice name! Anyone want to give me a suggestion?

Your title/dicho Amy reminds me of a Chinese saying...."He who seeks revenge, digs two graves." Same concept. When we judge, condemn, hurt and fail to forgive, we damage ourselves even more than the person we're trying to hurt. Another life lesson from our "frivolous telenovelas".

All- Yesterday I spent all day with our wonderful guest commenter Jarocha. We also took a short break at my house and watched my recording of Teresa. What fun to be able to discuss with one of our Caraymates in real time! Unfortunately, I have not yet had the chance to see this CME episode, but Jarocha shared her thoughts on Jero. Boy, does she hate him!

Jarocha is a sweet, intelligent young woman (as if we couldn't already tell this about her from her comments). She's also very good natured as she let me drag her all over the city (mainly walking) for 12 and a half hours, with no complaint, and tried Ethiopian food and enjoyed it (many don't). My new profile picture is of the two of us. Click on it to see it in larger view.

Sylvia - Love the Cheers and Jeers! Not sure what made me start thinking of Jero as Jeers, but it just seemed to fit since I was daily getting frustrated with him.

Personally, I would love to see Nata just throw herself into the day to day operations of the vineyard. I was also thinking, if the writers want to play up the Augie relationship, since he owns the harvest and is using to create a line of wines, he could ask her to do all the marketing. That would send Jeers off the deep end too.

And I love the idea of doormat and Cheers becoming friends. Girl power to stick it to their cretin male counterparts. I have hopes for Mati to start maturing and notice the hunk right under her nose. ( and yes, I would appreciate some Carlos-working-in-the-vineyard-shirtless scenes as well.)

By the way, wonderful recap. I am glad to see that I was right, and that our girl Renata is not taking Jero's crap with no complaint. If he keeps this up, the only thing I see keeping Renata at La Bonita is her pride-- not wanting to admit to her family that they were right about not trusting Jero and that she made a bad choice.

Oh, Vivi you must have posted as I was typing - love your pic of you and Jarocha. Sounds like you both had such fun!

Vivi, what a great pic of you and Jarocha! It sounds like you two had a fabulous day. I'm glad that you were absolutely correct about Renata fighting back.

I think Renata's pride will keep her at La Bonita plus she seems to love it right off the bat. Another "love at first sight" moment for her. Jero will need her marketing skills if he wants to put La Bonita on the map.

Amy, thank you so much for your recap!

I am trying to follow three (which seems like a tad too much for me!) TN including CME, TdA, and Teresa. Unfortunately, my professional work has taken up so much time that I am catching a few capitulos on DailyMotion and only getting to read the wonderful recaps on a hit or miss basis.

I had a full day yesterday to unwind and catch up on things (sort of). I watched CME during its gran estreno, but the scene when the ugly Fina cut off Renata's braids was powerfully upsetting to me. The naked hatred that Fina had for Renata, the child, was too much. I could not watch any more of CME after that.

The wonderful recappers have reeled me in again! However, I am absolutely stunned that a TN would have the galan behave in this manner. I must be missing the boat on this one.

Have any of you TN experts seen this 'device' used before? If so, could you list some of the TN? Were these galans redeemed in the end?

I have always liked Juan Soler and having him in this role (and that he would accept it) is more than a bit puzzling to me.

That wretched doctor is so tainted that it is hard to even look at his face. What in the world was Alfonsina thinking?!

...and where was everyone and their brains when Renata so genuinely asked why the hacienda was named 'La Bonita'?! Did anyone even stop and think here? I didn't see the capitulo, so am wondering what the facial 'responses' were.

I am just SO relieved that our heroine is strong. Pretty amazing given how she has been treated most, if not all of her life. Augie is not the most altruistic of men, but I'm glad he will be there to give Jero a run for his money.

I have to wonder what the writers have in store for Jero to make him likeable in the end. I think it is a long way from here to there.

I have seen that self centered, delusional brat known as Matilde. Oh my...how childish and boring. I think it will be a cold day in hell before she sees Renata in a kindly light. The child (not even a girl) is just too self centered for her own good. Someone needs to bring her down a notch or two.

It is hard to watch the actress playing 'Fina'. I find her to be absolutely repulsive. The hateful character she plays makes her even uglier to me. I can't imagine this actriz in anything but roles that portray her as a shrew.

Do we really think that Alfonsina is going to continue with that scumbucket of a doctor? If so, what ever for?!

Thank you again, Amy and all of the recappers. For those of us who cannot watch the TN or read the recaps on a regular basis, your work is MOST appreciated!

Susanita

@Susanita...the first time I saw the actress playing Fina it was as a kindly, warm mother ( in Pasión.) So I try and think back to that when she is operating in Monster Mode. Or I try and appreciate what a great job she'd doing in portraying an absolutely repellent human being. Still...watching this is more pain than pleasure right now.

JudyB: Agree. If the actriz is making me feel this way about her character, then she has accomplished her goal, but my oh my...she is one repulsive character both physically and in her inner soul. Bernarda in TdA is almost 'camp' to me, but this Fina person...she could be someone IRL.

Susanita

Oh and Vivi/Jarocha...how wonderful that you could tromp around the city for 12 and a half hours. Once upon a time I could do that too...in spike heels...but now my feet hurt just thinking about it.

It's always wonderful with CarayCaray mates can meet in person. 'Cause we already know we like them!

Such a good recap, love the title, flores and all the comments.

Sylvia--it looks like only you and I entered the guess who/when pool. We were both wrong--happily. However, Renata didn't make the connection, drat. I wonder how long it will take for the light bulb to turn on.

I'm relieved, as is everyone else that we still have a strong, spunky heroine. Unfortunately, constant abuse will wear anyone down.

I wonder if Jero will realize that when he responds to Renata affectionately, he can "control" her better than when he's dissing her. That's going to make his situation worse if he knows that having her near will make him weak as to his decision to make her life miserable. The bedroom avances are not good.

I thought Carlos standing behind Renata in the vineyard maddly waving to Alfonsina to shut her mouth about the previous owner was funny. He's going to be on Renata's side, soon, or at least dishing it out to Jeero at what a Jerko he's being.

The Jero-Auggie-Doctor land deal may become important later. Apparently, those tierras are land-locked by LaBonita and Auggie has made it clear he's going to have access to his new lands. Jerko, meanwhile says you'll have to cross my lands and that I won't permit. If he can't use a trebuchet or helicopter to get across, we're in for trouble.

Susanita--Alfonsina has had a change of heart (we hope is permanent). She went to the padre to pour her heart out, realizing she was sinning in her heart, but when he pressed her to name the object of her sin, she caved and named a fictitous TV doctor. I think that made her rethink what she was doing and that included the effect on their son (who we haven't seen).

Spare-Girl Arely is definitely not the bimbo we thought she was at the beginning. I'm hoping she becomes an ally to Renata, too--she's good at finding out secrets.

Judy- Both Jarocha and I were wearing sensible shoes for our twelve hour tour. We were BOTH wearing Converse-- I in my favorite color of blue, she in her favorite color of pink. Cool/quirky footwear-- yet another thing we found we had in common. :)

Newbie: I am relieved to hear that Alfonsina has had a change of heart. I just cannot see her with this slimy man...he is so weak..so very weak.

Susanita

Vivi in DC and Jarocha — you guys looked like you had a grand time! I love the photo of you!

Relieved to hear about those quirky Converse shoes Vivi...yep, another sign you were meant to be friends.

Oh Vivi, Thanks for sharing a description of your wonderful 12 hour day, the blue and pink pairs of Converse and the photo is so fun.

Susanita, I have been trying to think of any galan who has been as awful as Jerko but can't come up with one. Colunga was supposedly a paid night time seducer in Alborada as Don Luis, but he was always kind and it didn't seem violent at all. His cousin Diego is certainly violent and awful but he never pretends to be anything else and is not a protagonist but rather an antagonist.

I can't wait until Renata forms her cadre of champions and protectors out there in the Baja and where is her horse! She needs a dog too, this gal needs friends completely surrounding her and now!

Great recap as always. Thank you.

Seriously, Jercreepino is really stupid. How does he expect this to end? Even though you are nothing like I imagined a conniving, ruthless, golddiger would be, I took the word of a mean old witch who treats you like crap and my own stupidity, to justify my awful treatment of you. But now I realize that I was wrong and i'm so glad because I think you're really beautiful and you know what I really love you. Whew! I feel so much better; lets have dinner. His redemption strategy better be beyond good!

Loved the recap, and the title. I had always heard "Revenge is a dish best served cold." But yours has a different and much better meaning. Thanks!

Vivi and Jarocha, great photo. Glad, and a little celoso that y'all had so much time to get to know each other. Mike and I had about an hour with Sylvia a couple of years ago. It was so nice to meet in person. We all took to each other instantly and could have talked all night.

Love those Converse, by the way...
A few years ago, when I was getting over ankle surgery, I had to wear two different sizes of shoes (to accommodate the ankle brace). I bought the wildest Converse I could find. When my foot recovered, I gave both pairs to friends who are still wearing them - and loving them!

And, Judy, we'll come up with a good Spanish name for you... My great-aunt was Maria Josefa, but she was called Pepa. Ummm... no! Thinking... thinking...

Cheryl: I so agree! Our dear Renata needs a dog and she most definitely needs her horse.

In this day and age when horses routinely make transatlantic flights without batting an eye, it should not be that much of an issue from the D.F. to Baja...especially when one has the pesos to cover the costs. She needs good and honest friends. I doubt that Augie would fall into that category.

Thank you for trying to think of examples where other galans have behaved in this fashion. If you think of any, please let us kmow.

I doubt that Renata would end up with anyone but Jerky Jero in the end, but I hope she gives him what for the entire time.

Susanita

Emilia, I am still waiting for you and Mike to come back out this way, we had such a fun chat when we met. It definitely felt way too short and was "too be continued".

Judy, when I was in Guanajuato I met a young woman there, a local, and her name was Judy. Everybody pronounced it "Hoodie" which always made me giggle.

The thought of Vivi and Jarocha bopping around DC in their pink and blue Converses makes me smile.

I loved your title. I posted it on Facebook today as a quote for today, hope you don't mind.
For those wondering about a jerk of a galan, I vote for Max in TdA. He' a huge jerk who is pimping out his " love of his life" .
Chuchi

Amy, this is great once again. I'm just now getting back to Caray Caray after a basically computer free weekend. Had a wonderful evening out with the Lovely Linda on Sat. and then the Princesa Consentida came by Yesterday to spend Father's Day with us.A hot dry but wonderful weekend. Rain predicted for tomorrow.

Hurrah for Renata.

How about Matias for Mr. I for his chilly treatment of Adriana ("¿Qué haces aquí?") so soon after her mom's death.

If Augie hadn't sicced his goons on Carlos (my favorite guy in this) I'd be saying dump Jerry and go with this guy.

Hi Susanita, I'm betting that before long you'll be a Matilde fan. She really is a sweetie. She is almost identical to Guardina (here playing Alfonsina) in MEPS, who by the way, had a few detractors as well.

Vivi, what fun you and Jarocha must have had. I'm a little surprised that the two of you didn't wear Maria D (TdA) on your wanderings about DC.

Carlos

OK, I'm going to plunge back in. Jeronimo doesn't really WANT to be a Jerk.

Jero the Jeero didn't start being the Jerko until the second visit by Fina. I had some free time and "reviewed" the best parts I kept.

During the romantic dinner-dance he's still clearly besotted with Renata.

In the episode with Fina, she filled his head with garbage and slime about Renata's behavior with Rafael and how she had a relationship with Rafa and was merely playing around with him and is certain that is what she's doing with Jero. She came to warn him to break up with her before it's too late.

That's when Jero stews in the juices of what she said and has been trying to give Nata every opportunity to get her to confess her relationship with Rafa.

Through all that contemplation, he keeps admitting to himself how much he loves her, but the old vengeance theme raises its ugly head again. Those happen to be pretty strong feelings--added to what Fina told him.

Then we see Jero talking to Gina about her upcoming marriage to Tonio as an opportunity to get to know his/her partner better. He then transfers that consejo to his own situation. He proposes marriage to Nata. In the same breath he tells her he's broke.

He absolutely expects her to turn him down, because of what Fina told him about Nata's love of money and the good life. When she doesn't, he pleads with her to reveal to him her one big secret.

She looks at him very strangely, not understanding the question. She doesn't have one--oh, yes, she does--he seems hopeful--then she says (and I didn't catch it all since I don't use CC's) something to the effect that she loves him and wants to marry him.

So, we agree that he's acting like a jerk, but with faulty information. He's got a 500-piece jigsaw puzzle with most of the pieces missing and the ones he has aren't forming the picture on the box (of his mind). I feel for him.

His behavior at the ranch was in extremis. I think we are shown that side of him so that the contrast to sunny, smiley, full-of-pep Nata is very clear. She, of course, will win over all the staff.

Jero will be redeemed eventually. His estupidez is going to require that he grovel in the gravel at Renata's feet.

Flores--I think your title says it all.

How fun to meet a fellow caraymate in person, Vivi! The shoes say it all - you're kindred spirits for sure!

Chuchi, I love that quote so much that I had to share it. I'm glad it made someone else feel the same way!

NOK, that's an interesting analysis of Jero. I keep getting caught up in Jero's jerkiness without considering his motivations much. But even if he were tormenting Roberta this way, I still wouldn't like it much. Hopefully el Jerko will give it a rest soon.

Amy

Thanks Amy! These caps are such fun and great release. . .looks like the week is going to be more action and, unfortunately, frustration.

Judy B. from Sunday. Wait a minute: I watched Pasion. Whose mother was Fina? I can't believe it! Kudos to the actress, then, because she has totally made me forget that role! I think I vaguely see her with an apron and maybe a bonnet? Whoa!

Thanks for the feedback on my blog handle guys!

Lila

Right Lila...apron and bonnet. I think she was Wm Levy's mom. But not sure, because I only watched a few episodes of Pasión. Anyway, she was a nice, bosomy warm motherly type.
