Teresa Thu 6/30/11 #89 It's a bad day for sharks in the DF

Teresa Thurs 6/30 Capitulo 89

We get a review of Teresa and Mariano outside the vecindad—he ain’t surprised that she has changed her mind about the divorce; she says it’s cuz he doesn’t want to seize the opportunity to be with her.

Now on to new stuff. Espe and Hernan at the hospital. She tells him that he is one of her best friends and she doesn’t want to lose him. As much as he tried, he just can’t get her out of his head (girl, your love is all he thinks about). He brought her back a present from his trip—another stupid maternity shirt; this one with potential names all over the belly. They are still gonna be friends, and Espe tells H that her baby missed him as much as she did. Aww. I hope these two get together already.

The FF gang is assembled chez Refugio. She is talking about how the godparents of the wedding (Juana and Cutberto) are there to help the newlyweds (Patti and Johnny) learn how to be good spouses. J and C use this as an opportunity to snipe at each other. The writers use this as an opportunity to remind us that Johnny is really slow.

Oh good, back to Hernan and Espe. Hernan thinks it’s great that Patti and Johnny are getting married. Espe doesn’t. H poignantly says that he wished they (E and H) would act impulsively as well, instead of thinking it over and getting scared and losing the opportunity.

Fito approaches Teresa outside casa de la barrera; he’s all dolled up in a suit for some reason. He says he can’t get out of town because the po-po are on his tail. He wants some cash from her, she tells him to beat it, and threatens to send him to jail. He doesn’t seem too bothered by that—that’s where all his pals (cuates) are anyway; just one of the hazards of his job (I think he says “biznee” for job here (no subtitles), possibly some slang?). He whips out the ring she gave him and says he’ll tell Arturo that she gave it to him as payment for “freeing” her of Paulo. He gives her one last chance to pay him off, which she refuses, so he rings to doorbell. Dun-dun!

Over at Fernando’s, Oriana and Luisa have some tea and discuss Teresa. Luisa hopes that O is coming around, and explains how she thought poorly of T at first, but T won her good opinion by being such a great amiga. O is sticking to her first impression and warns Luisa to be wary of T’s ambition (in O’s mind, being poor and pretty is proof enough). O correctly surmises that Luisa is totally naïve (apparently like her mom). Luisa explains that T is the one that helped her get with Fernando, whom she thought she couldn’t snag because he was such a….well, you know. “Mujeriego” says mom. She again says that she doesn’t like to beat around the bush and follows up that old dicho (andar con rodeos) with a new one “a mi me gusta llamarle al pan pan y al vino vino” (I like to call bread bread and wine wine). O acknowledges that T knows how to manage men well. She ends with another warning, since her son is indeed such a mujeriego; Luisa had better watch out.

Reina is ready to let Fito in, but Teresa runs her off. Fito sarcastically worries that T wants to fire her just because she might remember Fito from an earlier visit. I have to say, with this and his earlier ‘biznee’ and “you think you’re so smart, but I’m smarter”, our little drug dealer is kind of growing on me. I know he’s a baddie, but he’s got style, and he’s good at needling Tiburoncita. Now, where were we? Yes, T can’t ask Artie for moolah because they are separated. Funnily enough, Fito is not letting it go. He wants T to at least tell Paulo’s parents to stop harassing the police so they stop looking for him. Nothing doin, says T. Well, I guess it’s back to blackmail (chantajear) then, says Fito as he holds up Paulo’s schedule. After some back and forth, Teresa opens up the wallet and gives Fito some cash. He reaches in, though and helps himself to todo. He lets her know that this isn’t the last she’ll see of him, so she better get some more money, or Arturo will find out what kind of woman he married.

Genoveva tells Rubes that she wants to get the ball rolling on adopting Espe’s kid; it’s a long process, after all. Rubes doesn’t know if Espe is going to give up the kid so easily, but Geno is undaunted. She knows someone who is willing to do anything for money. Oh no! Run, Esperanza, run!!

Reina and Teresa join Arturo in his study. Reina mentions Fito coming to see A, and T is all bug eyed as A asks who this guy is. Then she starts spinning—a law school acquaintance who wanted a job, but isn’t worth A’s time to even see him. Bien hecho, tiburoncita. But, it’s not over yet---Arturo wants to put the euros he gave her into his safe. She’s up to the challenge, though—she says that she left the cash at her parents house because she didn’t want to walk around town with so much cash in her purse. She’ll go get it manana. Whew.

El Bigote does not like the idea of Geno staging a babysnatching with his hijo. Geno would of course prefer it didn’t come to that, she’s just covering all her bases. She explains how they can whitewash the whole adoption through the orphanage of Paloma’s foundation. (Pretty convenient that Rubes is the acting director, no?) The whitewash part sounds good to Bigote, but he doesn’t want to run any risks with his kid to get it into the orphanage. And here Geno starts referring to the kid as “nuestro hijo” and Rubes starts to look queasy. Kind of like how I feel.

Luisa joins Teresa and Arturo, the latter promptly leaves. T is bothered that Luisa’s future suegra has taken so poorly to her. Luisa thinks O just needs to get to know her better, and has set it up that they will all lunch together tomorrow at the club. Fun times to be sure.

Next day at the club. Fernando, Oriana, Luisa, and Arturo are sitting incredibly awkwardly in some lounge chairs. Fern, Luisa, and Oriana are going to go to Cancun to keep tabs on Luna Turquesa. F and L head off to the tennis court and O takes the opportunity to stick her nose in Arturo’s business. She thinks he should not get back with T (shocker, eh?). Arturo begs to differ. As a substitute parent, she advises him to use the European vacation to pay attention and see if he made the right decision in marrying a Tiburoncita. Now, we know that O is right and all, but her nasty attitude and presumption just undercuts everything that she says. She saw T as a gold digger from one glance (based on her own prejudices) rather than from an actual acquaintance with her, as, say, Aida or Refugio has. And in this conversation, O ends by telling Arturo that she would hate to seem him hurt once again, a needless twisting of the Paloma knife into his wound.

Teresa approaches the vecindad and sees Johnny washing Ramon’s new car. He tells her what it is and Mariano’s head pops up from behind the bumper. What? Doctors don’t take the shirt off to wash the car? Booo! A little verbal sparring between our lovers and Johnny. Johnny explains to a dubious Tiburoncita that he and Pati will have everything they need to get by---especially love. T takes the opportunity to give us a favorite TN dicho “cuando hambre entra por la puerta, amor sale por la ventana” (when hunger comes in the door, love goes out the window). She and Mari make eyes at each other.

Arturo thanks Oriana for her concern/advice, but he is sure of Teresa. She just tells him to think about it---everyone a good side and a bad side. When we’re in love, we only see someone’s virtues, but has he seen T’s bad side? Has she ever lied to him? Just think about it, she says. They move on to how awesome Luisa is for Fernando, a topic on which they agree.

Aida joins the car washers. She knows he has to go to Johnny’s wedding, but doesn’t want to hear about it because of the Espe connection. She’s gonna be soooo bored all by herself on the wedding day, but M points out the she can do something or other for the clinic that day. They have a cute back and forth about her clinic work where Mariano imitates Aida and then they smooch.

Teresa, Juana, and Refugio sit around and chat. T disparages Cutberto, who Juana says she will only be nice to for Patti and Johnny’s sake. T gets the euros back from her dad and it appears that he is back to working at the dispacho. He says that they even paid him for the days that he wasn’t working, and Refugio gives the stink eye. T says it’s just a benefit of being the duena’s dad, and she and R have battling stink eyes at each other.

We go back to Arturo and Oriana seemingly only to give late viewers a recap of A’s history with Paloma (whom he does point out came from a ‘good’ family, and look how that turned out): she left him at the alter, he never knew that it was her parents that insisted on separating them, she was expecting a baby of his and he didn’t know it, the baby was stillborn. Interestingly, O seems to have already known about the stillborn baby, but I guess she’s such a buttinsky that shouldn’t be surprising.

Aida and Mariano walk up and greet Arturo and Oriana. O knew Aida’s gramps well; they chat and Aida introduces Mariano to O. I wonder if she can tell that he’s pobre as well, or if her special powers only apply to the ladies.

Rubes is at the hospital to talk to Hector about the foundation business. El bigote wants to deal with el bigotone instead of Mariano, whom he can’t stand dating his daughter. Hector sticks up for Mariano, and even says that he would be happy for Aurora to marry Mari.

Back at the club, Fernando, Luisa, and Arturo talk smack re: tennis, then head off to play. Aida returns and she and O catch up. A tells O about Mariano’s dispensario project.

Teresa joins the tennis gang, and they head off to the court. Fernando beats Arturo, and although Luisa runs up for a victory smooch, he gives Teresa the eyes. Arturo says he wishes he had won, so that he would get a victory smooch, but then he steals one anyway. Ter gives him a playful look.

Genoveva and Mayra are also having lunch at the club. Geno tells M about her plans to adopt a child to fill the void left by Paulo’s death.

We see Oriana having difficulty climbing some stairs and collapsing. And it’s SuperMariano to the rescue (we haven’t seen him in a while). He gives O some pills they talk about the rigors of the high altitude of the DF. O owes M one.

Aurora thinks back over her times with Mariano and Martin. Looks like she just can’t decide.

The club has now moved on to lunch—Teresa, Arturo and Oriana. O has taken the liberty of inviting her new friends—Aida and Mariano!! Hola todos! Mariano clarifies for O that he and Art are not amigos. And Art agrees. Oriana insists that the boys will become friends. Who does this woman think she is? Anyway, the boys beg to differ, and Aida points out that O does not know the whole story here. Teresa curtly says that she and Mari used to be engaged, and excuses herself from the table. Mariano insists that he and Aida be the ones to leave, and Art and T sit back down. O says that ese muchacho seems like such a good guy*, what could be the big deal. Art doesn’t want to talk about it. Fern and Luisa show up and notice the cloud over the table. Fernando starts to get worked up over Mariano’s nerve, but Luisa changes the subject to the tennis match. Lots of double entendre action with the competition between F and A, clearly implying the competition over Teresa. Oriana wants them to always remember that they are like brothers and work out their differences for her sake.

Cutberto stops by Juana’s and they make an agreement to be nice to each other in front of Patti and Johnny to set a good example. But only POR ELLOS!

Patti and Refugio blah, blah, blah. Gramps shows up and can’t believe how much his beloved granddaughter looks like Cinderella. He gets weepy talking about the horror of her looking like a servant and begs her not to get married. She says she’s happy and she wishes that he would help her—he assumes she means monetarily, but she only means by coming to their wedding. He hopes that she will change her mind, because he doesn’t know if he will receive her when she comes crying to him after she realizes her mistake. And with that, he leaves.

Luisa quietly asks Teresa about Mariano, and T says that he had attended to Oriana. Upon hearing her name, O tries to butt into their conversation**, but Arturo intercepts by asking if O still rides (horses). O loves to ride, and asks T if she does. A classic upperclass activity to distinguish the haute from the plebes. So of course, Teresa does not, but she’d love to learn. Lunch is over and Art and Ter get up to leave. He’s headed to the office and tries to get a goodbye kiss, but has to settle for the cheek. Teresa tries to say goodbye to Oriana and O incredibly rudely turns away to ask Luisa is she wants to go riding. T soldiers on with her goodbye and O imperiously waves her away. What a beeyotch. As soon as T is out of earshot, O demands to know what is up with her and Mariano.

Cutberto comes to get Juana to help the kids paint their soon-to-be apartment. She agrees, but only POR ELLOS! We later see Espe show up at the apartment and take up a brush herself. She offers to talk to abuelo, but Patti thinks it’s not a good idea. J and C arrive to help with the painting.

Teresa goes to a bank and deposits the euros she got back from her dad into her (presumably secret) bank account. We then see her coming home. She fakes some tears and starts banging on the gate yelling for Reina. Inside, her dad is there with Amadeo, and she cries to him that someone just stole her purse. Almost as an afterthought, she realizes that all her euros were in there. Oh no! I think we all saw that one coming.

Post scripts:

*maybe it’s just me, but it really bugs me that Oriana’s assumption that a poor person is a gold digger only applies to pobres of the female persuasion

** the first time we met Oriana, I was struck by her similarity to Lady Catherine de Bourgh from Pride and Prejudice—in that she disguised her own rudeness by calling it straight talk. Her domineeringness, buttinsky nature, and now rude intrusions on other people’s conversations have totally verified the similarity.

Muy bien hecho, Kristoise.

"Rubes starts to look queasy. Kind of like how I feel." Yo también. Oh, those two had better really suffer in the end, for all the gross evil we've watched them do.

"What? Doctors don’t take the shirt off to wash the car? Booo!" Seriously.

"battling stink eyes" - that's hilarious.

Hmmm, so the buttinsky pitbull knew about Paloma's baby? I wonder if she had anything to do with its disappearance. Also, I find it curious that she'd stay friends with Arturo's parents while their reputations were dragged through the mud. You know, since "high class" (snort) people like herself can't associate with lowlifes. She's such a beyotch I'm now suspecting her of involvement in everything bad that happened in the backstory.

There was a character in Niña de Mi Corazón who was even thuggier than Fito. He said things like "biznee." Must be the thing amongst the Chilango dregs.

Kristoise, I remember when Lady Catherine had the gall to suggest if she had ever taken up the piano, she, of course, would have excelled at it. Oriana and she have such high unsubstantiated opinions of themselves due to their lineage and try to manipulative the love lives of Fer with Luis (especially not Teresa) as with Mr. Darcy with Lady Catherine's sickly daughter.

Really enjoyed the recap, Kristoise. Thanks so much. The F F gang (Fast Foreward gang)...a good one. Pati is not nearly as irritating since she escaped from her tower. She is the opposite of Teresa. I wonder how many times Tere helped Refugio around the house, let alone mop the floor.

The only way Tiburoncita will have her hands on Fer's money is if Tiburona is not around. And now we see that Oriana suffers from a heart condition. Better not let Tere know.

Kristoise- Loved this recap! Julia already highlighted my favorite lines.

I really hope that Rube's and Geno's plans for kidnapping and adopting Espe's baby don't come to fruition, but the plan really is starting to come together. I'm scared for Espe. I'm guessing that means we will get another jump in time soon to get to the end of her pregnancy.

Oriana is such a major beyotch! I love her! Terror needed someone to challenge her, who wasn't easily beaten like Aida. I am loving these little battles between her and Tere. I want to see just how much dirt Ori can gather on Ter and what she does with it. I also think she'll bite the dust, probably after/during some major fight with Terror, adding another death that Terror feels mildly guilty about, but is not quite at fault for. Not a spoiler, just a guess. Fern will be even richer as a result.

I thought Oriana's words to the boys were forshadowing. She knows that sometime down the road Art and Mariano will be united when they realize how Ter played them BOTH. And Art and Fer will be divided once Ter sinks her jaws into Fer. They should remember that their friendship/brotherhood comes first. Hopefully they'll remember her words when the crap hits the fan, although if I were Art, I would never forgive the betrayal Fer.

Pati equals Refugio (middle class girl leaves it all behind to marry poor vecinidad boy and become humble housewife and manual laborer). Pati is the exact opposite of Teresa. Meaning Teresa is the exact opposite of Refugio. Are we seeing the problem now?

Not the most exciting episode last night, and there's starting to be a little to much Oriana for my taste. Wonderful comparison to Lady Catherine, Kristoise! And just like Lady C, women got the worst end of her snobbery. O seems like any handsome guy that gives her attention and treats her like the queen she thinks she is, will be fine by her.
So we get that just maybe O has a medical condition that once again, our hero will be able to help with, etc. endearing him to the upper society once again, while Ter is till fighting to get accepted.

Anyone else think that Rube hearing that Hector would be fine with a Aur/Mar hook up just planted a seed for him to get Mar away from Aida? Gees, will I have to like this guy for helping Mar/Aur get together? (And can we just start getting Aurora to do something besides sulk and cry.)

And let's hope Rube also starts to trust his instincts and realize Miss Poor Highlights is bordering on looneyville. We should introduce her to Blanca on CME.

Happy 4rth!

i forgot to tag the post, but just fixed it.

vivi-great predictions for Oriana; maybe the collapse is foreshadowing? Teresa could easily push her into another one if they have an all out throwdown over Fer at some point.

Julia-thanks for the NdmC info :-) I never watched that, but did see enough in commercials and stuff to have seen the Fito types on that show. It looked like a fun show, actually.

Wonderfully done recap Kris! Yes, I hadn't thought of Lady Catherine de B, but an excellent comparison.

It is wonderful seeing someone in the novela who has true powers of observation and doesn't miss a trick, but too bad that person, Oriana, is in the form of a witch! It would be a far better story for Teresa to be taken down by good rather than "evil" if you wish. Fighting the "good" fight would send a positive, inspiring message and set a good example for all of us! But of course, it wouldn't be a novela or Pride and Prejudice then!

So Espe's baby will be stolen and then suddenly Miss Poor Highlights happens on and adopts an abandoned baby? No one will suspect anything will they???

Teresa made lots of mistakes when she connected Fito to herself with her double lies.   Now he has the Euros that were "stolen" plus her engagement ring. This is getting harder and harder to explain away when Fito is caught.

Daisy, I wish Aurora could perk up too! She has tried everything, kindness, supportiveness and honesty, plus she gave up Martin, but she still can't attract Mariano's attention...... drats!

My favorite lines from last night:

Ruben, after Hector tells him he has no choice but to work with Mariano on the foundation: "That guy's like humidity -- he's everywhere!"

And Mayra, after Geno tells her she plans to adopt a baby: "JAJAJAJAJA AT YOUR AGE???" (Geno was TICKED.)

I too find Fito perversely fascinating. He's such a smooth villain. He'll go down in the end, but I'll bet he keeps his cool while doing it.

Great recap Kristoise.

I do not watch this show at all (prefer Corazon Insiste). I was taping Teresa for sometime then I just could not stand Boyer anymore so I just stopped. But last night when I turned on the tv there was Teresa, I was in shock when I saw Oriana and it was Raquel Olmedo. I could not believe it. I simply love her, and can kick myself for missing any of the episodes she's in. I wish there were a way that I could just block out Boyer and substitute another actress. I think everyone else in this TN is marvelous except her.

Now I don't know how I'm going to work this, maybe watch this with one eye open? I am now catching up with all the recaps, thanks again for having this site.

We already have a good person in the tn who has discovered Teresa's true colors. It's Aurora. She's our moral center. She does not judge people by class and never has. She speaks the truth to Teresa, but because she's a good person, she's not trying to bring Teresa down and expose her. She'll let people discover the truth for themselves. That's nice and all, but it's no fun. In the end, she will walk off into the sunset with which ever man she chooses, happy forever more.

Only another beyotch, like Teresa herself, can bring Teresa down a notch or two. Sometimes Aida scores a few small point, but she's too emotionally volatile/involved and too screechy and harpy to be really effective. She ends up being more annoying, and hurting herself in the end. Paloma was just pathetic and needy and was no competition at all, and we saw her end. Oriana is just the right amount of cold beyotch to get the job done. Of course, in the end she will likely be dead and her son will have fallen into Teresa' trap anyway. That will be the moral lesson. But it will be an entertaining trip because of how she interacts with Teresa.

Vivi, most people like a game well fought and fairly, not a slime fest. Oriana has all the tools she needs to win battles and the war with Teresa. Our "heroine" is leaving a trail a mile wide of lies and deceptions, take your pick!  The ONLY thing Teresa should't be called on is her background, she had no control over that!

Oh Oriana is a snob for sure. And this is a HUGE flaw and makes her character unsavory. But I also think she is starting to do exactly what you suggest. She is gathering real intelligence on Teresa's deeds (not just her social class). However, no one really has any proof of the bad things she's done, and those who do aren't talking:

-Mariano- Too much of a gentleman to tell anyone that Teresa slept with him the night before her wedding, lied to him for years, and was more than willing to sleep with him AFTER she was married. He's a tomb.
- Mariano's dad- Also suffers from Gentleman Symdrome. Has the proof of Teresa's infidelity, but won't expose her for his son's sake.
-Aida- Would tell how Teresa lied about her origins in high school and dated Paulo. No big deal. Has no proof of any other wrongdoing other than Paulo saying Ter's name on his death dead.
-Auroa- Would never tell anyone, other than her dad, of her doubts about Teresa's honesty. Highly suspects Teresa only married Art for money while stringing Mar along, but would NEVER say that to anyone but Teresa herself.
-Teresa's family (including Juana)- Would never badmouth Teresa to outsiders.
-Art, Fer, Luisa (although she admitted to her initial bad impression) are totally fooled.
- Cutberto- Never liked her and knows she jerked Mar around, but has no real info beyond that.
- Fito- The only weak link. He could spill some dirt on Ter if he's caught and if the price is right.

I really don't see what Oriana could find out, other than gossip from Aida and the wedding crashing that everyone knows about, that could bring Ter down. All she has is her instinct about Ter and what she observes with her own eyes of Ter's interactions with Art, Fer, Mar and others.

Vivi, I agree, Oriana seems to have a sixth sense about the truth and mentally she is putting two and two together. She is the first to see and then ask why Teresa, a married woman, was at Fer's apartment. She'll dig out the truth slowly. Honestly, a lot of truths have been heard over Arturo's bannister, she needs to visit over there more! I have no idea what the writers are doing with Oriana, just for me a viewer, I would like to see a different type of opponent for Teresa! I have the patience for Oriana to gather her amo and then fight the GOOD fight, not start her war with low blows!

While I think Mariano is improving, I'm proud of him, his temper has led him to do stupid things, he might want to do the right thing, but he can be a loose cannon at times. He is just lucky that he has't accidentally told on Teresa. I hope that behavior is behind him though.

I can't feel sorry for Teresa being dissed by Oriana, when Teresa's been so nasty to so many people:

Refusio, Cutberto, Reina, the Choffer, Aida (with cause), Mariano, Aurora, Arturo, Martin etc.

She's just getting back what she put out into the universe.

Kristoise thank you for a wonderful recap.

Oriana is kind of hard to take and like i don't mind at all her exposing Teresa and even revealing her lies to Arturo. But she better be prepared for Teresa's retaliation attack. You could see a couple of times that Oriana's words hit the mark with her as her eyes glistened with tears. That was so rude how she dismissed her first by not acknowledging her then waving her little hand to tell her to leave. But Teresa has done something of the sort herself to others so now she knows how this feels.

It's always amusing to me how so many of these people who come from the greatest lineage and social position have no type of manners.

Teresa is not thinking clearly when it comes to Fito and the more she gives into his blackmail the more ammunition he has on her to bring her down.

Daisynjay we don't need to introduce Miss Poor Highlight's to CME 's fatal attraction Looney and Miss poor highlights isn't borderline she has landed squarely on insane. I guess we should have guessed this with the 80's type hairdo and her choices of a what was it fur vest? Yup totally certifiable for that choice alone.

Genoveva is like a special-edition Menopause Barbie. Although we're exactly the same age, so I like the thought that if I want to, I can move to Mexico and continue vamping it up until I either drop dead or run out of hairspray. ;}

"Genoveva is like a special-edition Menopause Barbie."

LOL!!!!!! Thanks for that laugh Blue Lass. :)

a couple of other things that stood out was the look Fernando gave Teresa after he trounced Arturo in his tennis match. That's the kind of look one guy will give trying to get the attention of the most popular girl in school. This is so not going to end well.

Yeah for sure Geno would be baby snatcher didn't like to be laughed at by Mayra and i was even surprised by Mayra's reaction myself.

Sandy you bought up the other day how the Mariano and Aeeeeeeeeeda relationship won't last and how she is trying to make him over into her ideal man. Did you see the way she treated Johnny? They are so not goi going to put up with so much from her. What she fails to understand just like Teresa didn't understand it either. Mariano is not ashamed of where he came from or the people he grew up with either. So as long as she keeps up i'm better than you and you're beneath me attitude this relationship will not last. Throw Ruben also into this mix he will not let Mariano have that type of relationship with his daughter.

Vivi you're right i believe Oriana's words are a foreshadowing Fer has already fallen for Teresa. No Arturo can never forgive him for this type of betrayal because it's not only involving his wife but what it will do to his beloved sister that he raised by himself when their parents were murdered he's almost like a parent to Luisa.

One would think if Oriana regarded Arturo as a son did she perhaps try to put in a good on his behalf to Paloma's parents?

I just wish they had made the Oriana character a little more likeable than what we are getting so far.

One would think if Oriana regarded Arturo as a son did she perhaps try to put in a good on his behalf to Paloma's parents?
----------------------------

Oriana might have thought Paloma and her parents were pieces of scum and not wanted to have anything to do with them.

Loved the recap Kristoise. And the Academy award for outstanding performance goes to....Teresa. I wonder will Teresa implicate Fito in saying that the euros were stolen. She put on a good act.

I agree that Oriana was incredibly rude to Teresa when she dismissed her with that hand gesture. Me thinks this will make Teresa even more determined to steal Fernando away from Luisa just to prove a point and to rub it in the buttinsky's face.

Oriana also noticed when Teresa turned her head when Arturo tried to kiss her lips. I'm thinking since she is such a busybody, she will find out all the story about Teresa and Mariano.

Another thing. Oriana dismissing Teresa reminded me of how Teresa started acting mean and bossy with Reina once she moved into Arturo's house. She turned on a dime so Teresa is being treated in the way she has treated others.

I think too that Oriana can see the writing on the wall that once all the smoke clears Arturo and Fernando's friendship will never be the same. Arturo will never forgive him and neither will Luisa. Not a spoiler just my opinion.

Thank you for the recap, very good imagery, I enjoyed it very much.
Also, good comment Blue Lass, menopause Barbie, a classic.
I wonder if Oriana would have instantly hated any impoverished young girl who had won Arturo, or if she is actually sensing how Tere is. She seems like she is not going to miss a move that Tere makes.

I think if Aurora had been poor, but otherwise the same, Oriana would have been wary of Aurora and her lack of lineage but wouldn't be as nasty to Aurora as she is to Teresa.

Oriana is the 2nd person to have a bad feeling about Teresa from the moment they met; the first was Luisa.

Oriana initially was taken aback at Teresa; she saw the age difference & Teresa's obvious beauty and knew something was up. Then she learns Teresa is from the hood and has no lineage, and that just convinced her more.

Now Oriana has more pieces to the puzzle:

Arturo & Teresa are on the brink of divorce;

Fernando is defending Teresa like she's his woman;

She caught Teresa alone in Fernando's apartment, sipping on some wine like she was Fer's girlfriend and not Luisa;

She sees Teresa & Arturo try to leave the scene when Mariano & Aida show up; she tries to make Mariano & Arturo be friends and both of them are like "hell to the naw" and finds out Teresa used to be Mariano's girlfriend*

So Oriana has a bad feeling about Teresa b/c of her obvious golddigging look and finds out all these information to boot.

*Mariano busting up in Arturo/Teresa's wedding was big tabloid news...it's a wonder Oriana hadn't heard about that.

PS--Fernando has mentioned several times to Luisa and/or Arturo about his mom's poor health.

Anon 207-you make some very good points.
Oriana's health-her "pression arteriale esta alta"
big deal, everyone at that age has high blood pressure. What else did they say? I missed some of that conversation she had with Mariano about her health. She really seemed to approve of him, I wonder if she realizes how humble his beginnings were.

Mariano told Oriana she would have to have the dosage of her blood pressure medicine adjusted for the altitude in Mexico City. Wonder if Teresa can mess with that...?

Emarie, I think Oriana told Mariano that the altitude in DF was different/higher than Spain and the doctor told her not to come, but she was going to do what she wanted to so there it was.

Mariano told her he needed to give her a different dosage of her pressure pills I guess b/c of the different altitude.

I think she has heart troubles. Fer has mentioned her health several times. Actually, when he came back from Spain and told Luisa he didn't bring his mom back because of her health issues, I thought he was lying and he never did say anything to his mom. But when she arrived, the first thing he asked about was whether the docs had given her permission to travel, and Oriana confirmed all the great things about his new girlfriend Fer had told her while in Spain. So I have to admit that I misjudged him because I thought he was totally fibbing to Luisa about all that.

I got the feeling the "girl of his dreams" that Fernando had mentioned to his mother was actually Teresa -- Oriana made the point that he never mentioned her name -- but once that was said in front of Luisa, he didn't have any choice but to say it was her.

thanks for those of you who filled in some of the convos i shortchanged. i started a new job today (!) so yesterday was a rush job.
blusamurai---how about last night's one-armed blouse? maybe geno should pair it with the fur vest!
blue lass-menopause barbie hahahaha!
to be fair to aeeeeeeeeda (maybe just because i love MM), i think she was snotty to Johnny bcz of the Espe connection, not the pobre (or menso) factor.
and i never thought about the similarity btwn the dismissive treatment of Oriana towards Ter and Ter towards so many others, until several of ya'll mentioned it. good point!
you know tonight's gonna be good since it's a friday!

Congratulations on the new job, Kristoise!

I agree with you. Aida is snobby, but she doesn't tend to treat people badly JUST because they're poor. They have to have wronged her or been deceitful in some way. She seems to genuinely like Mariano's father. She isn't mean to service people. But I might be too generous because I really like the actress.

Kristoise Geno aka Menopuase Barbie great one Blue Lass i have to do a double take sometimes on QTH is she wearing tonight? OMG did she look in the mirror? Or did the fashion designer even notice for this show?

No i don't have a problem with the way Oriana is treating Teresa what comes around goes around it's just that Oriana is sort of like a sledge hammer she could have been soften up a little and made more likeable. Teresa has been rude to others herself but i did find the way Oriana dismissed her beyond rude for goodness sake your at the a club and you're supposed to have better breeding than Teresa.

Teresa does need to be bought down and examine how she lived her life so far and the damage and pain she has caused others.

I just think what Oriana is doing is nothing more than egging Teresa on to go after Fernando even more not the opposite of what she wants is to leave him alone.

From the previews it looks like she is going to get the dirt from Aeeeeeeeeeeeda about Teresa and what she done so far and her relationship with Mariano.

I agree that Aida was rude to Johnny because he is Espe's brother, not because he is poor.

As for Oriana and Teresa- We know that when our Tiburoncita is pushed, she pushes back even harder. She never backs down. Once she set her sights on Fernando, she was going to have him, no matter what. Same with Arturo. The only time we've seen her back down was with Ruben way back when. She thought she could seduce him and play games with him, and he wasn't having it (player knows a player). But she still tries to get her digs at him when she can in other ways.

I think Fer was speaking about Luisa to his mom. Ter didn't start the real seduction until he got back from Spain. He was still pretty sure of his feelings for Luisa when he went to Spain.

We have been wondering how Tere thinks she can trap Fer in a marriage (it's not like he's Art who believes in marriage). I think it's because he will have to fight so hard to defy his mother to be with Teresa that he will be backed into doing something drastic, like marrying her.

Your comments nailed it Anon207. Oriana knew exactly what Teresa was and called her on it. Funny how there's not much slack for Oriana, but Teresa's got fans rooting for her cruel behavior. Oriana has been rude, but not maliciously destructive to everyone around her in order to have her way. At least not yet.

What i find funny is how Aida fans over look her viciousness and cruelty towards Teresa before Teresa really got bad.

To make light of how she threw what was it ammonia into her eyes? I kind of find that hard to take.

I don't think any of the Teresa fans are applauding most of her behavior nor or they condoning but i think people are drawn to Teresa because she is smart and intelligent and some of the best highlights have been her getting even with Aida and her family.

I think it's safe to say that those who like Teresa are going to keep rooting for her to get back at Aida and her family along with Geno because it's they who can't move on.

For those who like Aida you will keep harping on how she treats the help and is nasty to others which those who do like Teresa have pointed out time and time again. So we are at a stalemate.

Life imitates art. On the news, they reported a bride- to- be was dissed by her future mom-in-law about her bad manners on email sent to her. And said bride- to- then posts it on facebook or whatever and it goes viral. Bad behavior on both sides...the future bride with the bad manners and the future groom's mom who so rudely chewed her out by email. Shades of Teresa and Oriana it seems. Everything is news nowadays, even unknown people's personal lives. Well, Mrs. Bourne, the mother-in-law from hell, isn't unknown now.

Kristoise, thank you for your terrific recap. All my favorite lines have already been quoted so thanks y'all!

I love how you compare Oriana to Lady Catherine de Bourgh. They are similar in the way they attempt to mask their nasty behavior with a more agreeable label. Nevertheless I'm not averse to Oriana going after Teresa.

You're right, Fito has style. He's another one whom Teresa doesn't scare. I imagine he will meet an unpleasant end but I do enjoy him in the meantime.

GinCa, I read that article. Both the MIL and bride-to-be sound like complete A-holes. Kind of like Teresa and Oriana! If I were the groom I would take a long vacation solo.

I think the actress that is playing Oriana is awesome! She's totally convincing; very talented. When they were at the club and Teresa says she's leaving (retiring) and Oriana flicks her arm up like, "get outta here, low-life", I thought that was so beautifully done. I can't wait for more shark fights.

Paty is starting to grow on me. Her bubbly personality was a little too bubbly for me at first, but now, I kind of like her.

I wish Aurora would grow a spine and just go get Mariano, but I suppose it was not meant to be...sigh...
