Cuando Me Enamoro #72 Thursday 7/28/11 Far From The Wedding Crowd (or Sisterhate is Powerful)

The big news from last night - Renata leaves with Augie for the DF and walks away from Jero at the airport. She tells Augie she will get a divorce and annulment from El Jerko. Augie is all over that news and advises her to do it ASAP. Big surprise.

Tonight: Jero runs right home and recalls begging Renata at the airport. Then he looks at his stupid self in the mirror. I’ll bet he smashes it.

Augie must be faking this, he says an annulment is a big deal, is she sure? Oh hell yeah because she married for love, for life, and Jerko married for vengeance. In fact she already checked with the padre and a vengeance marriage can definitely be annulled. Augie offers himself up as a witness (testigo). Such a helpful guy.

Jero doesn’t smash the mirror. He washes his face and calls himself a stupid. He’ll get no argument from us. He had no idea what he was losing, a love much bigger than his hate. Jero bites the towel, smells it and recalls his night of love in the shower, boo hoo. (I’m pretty sure with all the help in that house the towels have already been laundered, but whatever.)

Remember last night when Zeke overheard Alfonsina say she didn’t know who the baby daddy was? Well he’s right ticked off about it. She tries to tell him he heard wrong (oiste malo) but he’s not biting. He demands to know who the father is. She insists it’s his so he drags her in front of the altar and tells her to swear. Well she can’t do that of course. The padre wrings his hands ineffectually while Zeke blows his top and promises he’s going to kill the guy that Alf has been boinking, he doesn’t care if he spends his whole life in jail!

The padre tells Alf not to worry because Zeke is a basically a good guy who won’t follow through on his threats. Trust in God. She loudly makes him swear that Zeke must never know Doc Donor-with-a-b*n*r is the father.

Jero sits on the bathroom floor cradling his towel and recalling his jerkiest moments. That’s why Renata left him. “I hope it’s not too late. I hope your mother clarifies to you everything she told me, maybe then you’ll understand why I did what I did.” What? It’s back to the stupid mirror for you my friend.

Carlos finds Mati dusting his room and coyly hides something behind his back. He won’t reveal what it is so she leaves in a faux huff. Looks like he’s got some colored paper to make more cards for her. So childish, so silly, so amazingly hot. I want you Carlos. Right now.

Gina calls Ines for an update on Andresito, it’s slow going. Gina says the hacienda is a gem and team Jero is very nice but she feels desperate and anxious about Renata. Nata hates her; it’s a long story but now both Gonzo’s daughters hate her, sigh. She’s mostly sorry about Nata for whom she feels Something Special. She wants to come back to the DF to try to get Nata’s forgiveness.

Oh crap, it’s Doctor Demented and he’s petting poor, trussed up, whimpering Kari’s hair. He croaks that from first sight he knew she was the woman for him. Sure her dad resisted the idea at first, but she knew that if she didn’t marry him he wouldn’t cure daddy. He blathers on that even though everyone thought he was a loser (fracasado) thanks to him Kari’s dad lived three years longer than he would have. (God complex much?) For that Kari dumped (dejar - give up, forsake) that poor bastard (muerto de hambre) Lazaro. (Kari why are you crying? Head butt him in the nuts right now!!)

Doc Disgusting who can’t shut up goes on to say he provided the best that life could offer and he got to enjoy her sweets (tus mieles). That’s just gross. Gah, wash my eyes out with bleach, he zeroes in for some wide-mouth face licking (I swear I’m not making this up) but, thankfully, is interrupted by a pounding at the door.

It’s Zeke and he wants to talk to Kari NOW! He needs to find out who is the father of Alfonsina’s baby? With whom is she betraying him? Doc gets all nervous and Kari’s Tammy Faye eyes bug out even more than usual, but does she make any noise? No. She’s killing me.

The wedding crowd is gathering at casa Monterrubio. The string quartet sounds like they are playing a wedding dirge, Gonzo is Glum and Fina’s having fun dissing Renata. She says Berta deserves the most glamorous wedding in the world, especially since Gonzo threw the whole house out the window for Renata. (See vocab below for history of this saying.) Gonzo points out there is an expiration date (fecha de caducidad) on this marriage. She suggests they will learn to love and have a long and happy marriage like mom and dad. “Nope,” says Gonzo, pushing her hand away.

Gonzo tells Matias he’s not heard from Renata. As if talking to a man doomed for an execution, he tells Matias “It’s time.”

Coni shows up looking like a million bucks. Nevertheless Fina slithers up and starts giving her a hard time because Honorio is putting the horns on her. Too bad he’s cheating on her with someone younger. (Wrong!) Or someone more intelligent, or someone more lovely, or perhaps it’s someone who can give him children. (Wrong wrong wrong!!!) Fina advises that someone as cuckolded (tan cornuda) as Coni would look a thousand times better if she smiled, eh? Dang what an epic witch. Adri and Honorio arrive and Coni walks away in despair.

Nata and Augie have finally arrived in the DF and run to catch a taxi. Will they make it in time?

Matias is very happy to see Adri at the wedding. She admits she had to come but doesn’t give the real reason. She just wanted to congratulate Matias and Berta on their marriage and talk to the judge about her wedding date. Matias is truly confused, wedding date? Oh sure, says Adri, she thanks Matias who is demonstrating that one doesn’t need to be in love to get married. Heh, I like this extremely sarcastic side of Adri.

Oh boy, the quartet, oops no, it’s a trio, plays the wedding march and the sparse number of guests clap for the bride’s entrance. Matias looks like he’s about to throw a tantrum (thanks Robey!) or maybe like he’s a dead man walking.

Roberta looks fantastic, classy and elegant for once. Sele arrives, gives Berta a sour look and remarks that Berta looks dreadful (pésima) and pale. Must have had a night of pre-wedding jitters. They are seethingly civil to each other through gritted teeth and Berta suggests they make peace. Sele has a gift for her, some sort of bracelet only for Berta (just in case the wedding doesn’t last) and then a baby thing, diaper or onesie I couldn’t tell. A couple of ladies run up and gush is Berta expecting? Berta redirects the gossip mongers.

Sele demands an apology from Berta. “Perdoname,” Berta sighs. Sele, satisfied that Berta’s been humbled, asks about Berta’s desperate call last night. Berta tells her never mind, she handled it.

Nata and Augie pay a taxi driver to get them to La$ Loma$ ASAP. Of course they get stuck in a huge traffic jam. Augie has to bribe the driver to use his cellular. She calls Adri who pleads with Nata to hurry, the ceremony’s about to begin!

Meanwhile Fina entertains herself by reprimanding the wait staff. Her lawyer stoolie horndog pal pulls her into the study to tell her he can’t take any more (ya no puedo más) and he plants a big one on her. The guy has a serious lack of social skills, at her daughter’s wedding? What an idiot. They are interrupted by Gonzo calling for her which gives her an excuse to rush out.

Gonzo tells Fina he’s afraid Nata’s not going to make the wedding. She gleefully mentions she called the hacienda that morning but couldn’t reach Nata, instead she spoke to HIS friend Regina. He knew she was there, right? He doesn’t want to discuss it. Good move on his part. Fina gets all clingy and sighs she remembers when they signed their wedding papers. Poor Gonzo looks like he expects yet another onslaught of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

Adri approaches the Judge and asks for a huge favor, could he please postpone the ceremony for a half an hour or so? He doesn’t understand why but says he can do it. Fina overhears, shoves Adri out of the way and demands that the ceremony begin ASAP. She turns on Adri, grabs her arm and hisses for her to butt out of her ex-galan’s life.

Let the ceremony begin! Berta slowly rises and is the last one to arrive to the judge. Fina instructs her to walk and smile. The judge begins and our main players glance around triumphantly (Fina), dejectedly (Berta), heartburny (Matias) and nervously (everyone else).

Stuck in the traffic jam, our resourceful heroine sees a guy on a motorcycle. Seconds later Augie is left behind while Nata zooms off on the back of said bike.

The ceremony continues and Matias determinedly says “I do”. It’s Berta’s turn and she hesitates. Fina gives her the stink eye. Nata speeds up the street on the bike. “I do,” responds Berta. Fina breathes a sigh of relief, Berta signs the papers, the motorcycle zooms, Matias hesitates, Nata jumps off the bike, Matias looks at dad, Nata sprints, the violins crescendo, Nata bursts in, Matias signs, “I now pronounce you husband and wife” sentences the judge. The crowd claps, the couple reluctantly touch lips, Fina gloats and Nata is impactada.

Meanwhile Jero, looking dapper in a suit, tells Carlos to take good care of Regina. She hopes he and Nata will reconcile and that Nata will forgive her. Regina tells him it’s time to regain Nata’s love and confidence. (Good luck with that buster, as in marriage buster.)

Nata gives Adri a hard time about not stopping the wedding but Adri explains that Fina caught her. Just then Nata is yanked away by guess who? Yep, Malafina who tells Nata she told her not to set foot in her house. She pushes Nata toward the door and threatens Adri. But Adri’s a good friend and follows Nata into the inferno to stand up to Fina.

Outside, Nata insists she’s going to do what she has to do to keep Berta from fooling everyone. Fina shrieks that Roberta is pregnant. Nata doesn’t care, Berta destroyed her life and everyone is going to know it. Fina guffaws, don’t be stupid, Nata’s life is her own problem. Nata says she can prove it. Fina yells not in HER house, now get out! Fina calls after Adri but it’s too late, our clever friend has made a beeline for the reception.

She finds Gonzo and Matias and demands they follow her outside where Fina won’t allow Nata into the house.

Outside, Renata says she knows Fina hates her. Fina hisses that Nata is an encumbrance (Me estorbas), she’s a nightmare. Fina threatens, Nata gasps, and the men break it up. Fina insists Nata is crazy and Nata swears she came to unmask Renata. Matias and Gonzo want to know what Nata knows, what’s so important? Come into the house to talk. Fina shrieks “No Way!” Gonzo shuts her down and says they’ll talk later.

More tormenta y la tensión (Sturm und drang): At home Ezequiel is crying himself a river when his son approaches. Alfonsina bangs on the door and Zeke prohibits the kid from answering, mom’s not going to live with them anymore. She begs and cries outside the door, the kid cries that he wants his mami. Papa, papa! Zeke tells the kid he loves him and will never forget him. Mami’s in, Papi’s out, and mami begs the kid to forgive her, it’s all her fault. I’m thinking mom and dad could have picked a less traumatic way to break the news to their kid. I wonder if there is a child psychologist in town?

Oh crap, are we ready for more? Constanza tells Honorio she knows all about his woman’s pregnancy. QTH???? He swears Blanca’s not expecting any son of his. Tough, Coni’s got no doubt it’s true.

Sele and Berta gloat over Coni’s misfortune. Matias interrupts to pull Berta away for a little discussion.

Honorio’s in the den trying to call Blanca but for once she doesn’t answer her phone. “Why Blanca, why do want to destroy my life this way?” It’s the question we all want answered.

Elsewhere BatS**tCrazy Blanca, whose curls get tighter the crazier she becomes, sneers at her phone and vows she’ll make him beg.

Honorio continues to plead his case but Coni will hear none of it. He swears Blanca is lying and why won’t she believe him? Because he destroyed her confidence, she says.

Berta Monterrubio de Monterrubio joins the other Monterrubios and Matias announces Renata is inside a room waiting for them. Berta’s sad mouth transforms into the Giant Chops of Terror. “What’s Renata doing there? She’s only come to ruin my party!” Fina insists nothing Nata has to say is more important than Berta’s wedding.

Right on cue Berta’s heart condition kicks in. Even Nata comments on the convenience. Nata holds up the “R” necklace and asks do they know where she found it? Well she (Nata) has been blamed for Roberta’s romances. Nata says Jero found the necklace in his brother Rafa’s belongings. Rafa committed suicide over a woman who betrayed him and that woman is none other than Roberta, the owner of the necklace.

“IT’S NOT TRUE!!” thunder the Giant Chops of Rage. ”Yes it is,“ retorts Nata. It’s Berta’s fault that Jero thought Nata owned the necklace, that he thought Nata wrote the letter dumping Rafa. It was Berta in the photo given to Rafa and signed with an “eRRRRRRRRRe!” and she made sure Jero would blame Nata. Nata tells Matias that Roberta fooled them all. She was in a secret romance with Rafa and when he killed himself she made sure all the blame would fall on Roberta. Jero thought that the famous La Bonita was Renata and guess what, Jero married her for vengeance! To pay her back for his brother. Roberta clutches her chest and pants. Fina stands by watching Berta have her heart episode and the sisters rip each other apart.

Renata cries that she’s totally innocent and the one responsible for Jero’s hate is Roberta, only Roberta!

Brava Renata, what a performance. And you almost got it right.

Avances: The voice says “Renata couldn’t stop the wedding so now she’s going to unmask Roberta. ” Well we already knew that and there weren’t any previews.

Idiom of the day:

Echar (or tirar) la casa por la ventana = To spare no expense
Historical Explanation:
The Spanish idiom tirar la casa por la ventana (to throw the house out of the window) seems to have followed the same broadening process over time. The origin of the idiom goes back to the end of the XVIIIth and beginning of the XIXth centuries when it was traditional in Spain for people who won the lottery to throw their furniture and old possessions out of their windows so as to show off their wealth and indicate that they were about to commence a new life of luxury. Knowing this, we may assume that people living in Spain at that time must have used the expression “literally” to convey roughly the same implications. These might have included the implication that the people who throw their possessions out of their windows are wasting or losing money, that they would need to spend a great deal of money buying new things, that this expenditure of money is unnecessary, that they are not behaving in a very sensible or discriminating way, etc. Familiarity with the expression (in its literal sense) may have led native speakers to start using the expression loosely, to refer to situations in which someone is spending or losing large amounts of money somehow unreasonably.

Mil gracias, Sylvia! And to everyone else this week. My schedule has become a mess which is why I have to go AWOL for days at a time. I'm keeping up, though!

Felicidades, Renata! Wow, this girl knows how to pack a punch with words. I'm impressed at how well the writers have kept an integrity about her character. Too bad she was just late enough that the marital ax had to fall on Matias.

Ay, querida Constanza. Where oh where is her head? She must be so blinded by hurt and jealousy that she isn't thinking straight. No way is Blanca having *anyone's* baby, let alone Honorio's. That scene at the beauty parlor the other day was like Mean Girls: The Grown Woman Edition.

Whatever Blanca's end game is, it seems like Hon/Con are playing right into her hands. Here's hoping we get our level-headed Coni back so we can get rid of Blaaanca and her curls of craziness.

"So childish, so silly, so amazingly hot." Yes, yes, yes! I'm with you 100%. Carlos is a hottie with a tender heart - what more could a girl ask for? :)

Amy

Sylvia Sylvia...you were in rare form last night. Far from the Madding (er, Wedding) Crowd...your riff on Carlos (funny as hell), the recall of the towel munching scene (all I could think of was that old LVU? coach who used to chew on a towel during basketball games) and anyway...why are Jeronimo's anguish scenes always hilariously funny? Kneeling on the rug, bashing into the bathroom wall...I think I'd prefer a little quiet moroseness and self-flagellation (mental! mental!) for our constipated galan.

Nice call on Kari's Tammy Faye eyes. The heavy-handed makeup only emphasizes that rather Graves Disease bulging orb look of hers. Not attractive.

Giant Chops of Rage. Another gem. Yes, the actress playing Roberta does have quite a jaw line. Nice to see her looking pretty though, if only for a micro-second.

Fina is soooo dreadful and hateful...I try and watch a little of Pasión every day so I can see this actress playing the sweet motherly curandera and friend to one and all in the pueblo. (Oh alright, I watch a little every day to drool over Fernando Colunga...but still...)

Anyway, dreadful episode, wonderful recap. And the background information on the dicho (which I remember first hearing in Juan Querendon) AWESOME.

Love it Sylvia - so much stuff to feed the wittiest recapper and you got in some great zingers.

"He’ll get no argument from us." -I mean I'm still in the guys corner, but honestly, he may be a wiz at business, but he is, what my dear dad use to call "socially inept". Seems we are now at that turning point when Jero starts going through his redemption phase and has to earn Nata back. Maybe that's why this TN is so long - he's got a LOT of redeeeming to do.

And I have a feeling after what Nata's going to go thru with her family, and we know they will throw the "it's Jero's baby" at her yet, he's got his work cut out for him to win her back.

Disappointed the wedding actually took place (so much for the affair of the year - how small is their social circle?) but it makes sense from a TN standpoint. That stupid agreement was fixed for a reason, and now Matias is stuck with his "bride". Wait till the "bebe" doesn't make an appearance. Ouch.

Dr.Carlos needs to tell us where to find that magic ointment that clears up scars and scratches so quickly. Gees, Jero looked good considering he was a bruised and scratched up mess, what a day or two previously? Just sayin'...

Again, I cannot comment on Dr. Demented. Those scenes were horrid and this whole tie up thing better end soon.I also agree, Sylvia, Kari needs a lesson in How to Make Noise 101.

In what universe is Blanca considered young? The whole child-bearing thing---ok, I won't go there.

Revelation Part II tonight - not feeling too good for Nata.

Oh, and thanks Judy...just mentioning Pasion brings back wonderful memories...yeah mainly of Fernando in a black poet shirt opened ever so low.... yeah, good stuff to get me through the day!!

Sylvia- There was so much bad stuff going down in this episode last night, but you somehow made it funny AND informative!

Yeah, we knew the wedding had to happen to make the falsified pre-nup an issue later. So Matias is stuck with her for 10 years, no matter what?! Or will he need to give up a huge chunk of his inheritance to divorce her before the 10 years are up? No puede ser!

I cringed while Fina grabbed, shoved and shook Nata. You just know this is the kind of scene that has been repeated between these two Nata's whole life (as we remember from the braid cutting incident). Even though she stood firm, Nata looked like a scared little girl in that scene. And when Gonzo caught Fina right in the middle of this abuse and she immediately let go of Nata, like she had been busted, just showed that she had gotten used to doing this to Nata all these years when she knew Gonzo wouldn't be around to see.

A lot must be happening tonight because they didn't give us ANY previews. A ticked off and emotional Nata, a cornered/defensive Berta, and Fina in attack mode, all in the same room. It's not going to be pretty.

I don't think Fina knows anything about Blanca (and that she's older). She just slung a bunch of arrows at Connie (young, intelligent, pretty, can give him kids) until one hit its mark.

Good morning everyone. Last night's episode was kind of crazy in that the whole night felt like a flurry of activity, yet in the end not that much happened. There was just a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth (and towel biting).

One thing that last night's episode drove home is how Fina's subversive reign of terror has affected the family. She has managed to hide her overt cruelty pretty well but last night she slipped up a few times.

Adri has always heard what a witch Fina is but last night she saw first-hand. Now it's not just Renata's word any more. Like Vivi noted, Fina's physical abuse of Renata was viewed not only by Adri but also by Gonzo. How will she weasel out of this one? I'll bet Fina blames her mean behavior on her bogus brain tumor.

Amy, good call on the Mean Girls reference. Why is Coni falling for Blanca's bull? Think Coni, think!!

Judy, glad you caught the Far From The Madding Crowd reference. In fact last night's cheerful little episode was very Thomas Hardy-esque. ITA that Jero's tragic meltdowns are rather funny though. We'll take those moments of unintentional humor.

Daisy, I'm also not feeling too good about revelation Part II. Although Renata is on the right track her details are somewhat skewed. And Fina's still got a few bombs of her own she's been saving up.

Vivi, isn't Silvia Navarro a superb actress? In the midst of her justifiable rage her scared little girl side peeked out and it was completely believable. She and Rocio are a force of nature in their scenes together. What a pair of professionals.

Cap'n Sylvia! Madame...my hat is off to you! Fabulous...ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS. I am so appreciative of the time you took to give us the vocab and that excellent background on the dicho. This is how I continue to improve my Spanish! I have friends who don't believe me when I tell them about our wonderful blogsite and how much I learn here. Please, please know how much this reader appreciates this wonderful recap of yours!

Again, work prevented me from seeing last night's capitulo, but will try to catch up on Daily Motion.

Can you tell me...did Gonzo actually see Fina's manhandling of Nata and did the message get from his eyes to his brain? Please tell me this is the case. Please.

I should be able to see tonight's capitulo. What an incredible TN.

Thank you again, dear Cap'n!!!!

Susanita

Caaaap-TAIN! I salute you! And I'm not even done with the cap!

"So childish, so silly, so amazingly hot. I want you Carlos. Right now." LMArseOff!

Haven't been reading caps tho' I'm watching, my daughter is home for a week from med school: I think I'm getting her interested in Cuando! Anywho, luv, luv, luvin' the show and your take on this exciting episode!

Poor Zeke!! I think Alfie needs an estupida mirror too: Why in the heck would you loudly proclaim, with your back to the door, "I think the Doc is the father of my baby" And why in the heck would the Padre not stop her estupida proclamation seeing her husband approaching from behind! ESTUPIDOS TODOS!!! And Zeke is a healthy, virile man and there have been no indications that they weren't enjoying the carnal fruits of a good marriage. Why in the heck would she not assume it's Zeke's BAAABAAAAAAY!!!! Phew!

Anyway. My daughter has me watching another of her Brazilian novelas, Insensato Coração (Corazon Insensata or Foolish Heart) it started out with such a bang, I may get hooked on IT. Later, Cap'n and Amigos!

Lila

Susanita, yes Gonzo did see just a bit of the manhandling and he told Fina "We'll talk later", but did the message really get to his brain? I don't know, we'll see.

I was thinking that after Adri witnessed Fina's physical cruelty first hand (seeing her deal with Nata and also getting pushed and squeezed herself) that this is another thing that might help ally her with Matias. Surely he saw this sort of thing as a child which is why he hates Fina so much.

Oooo Kaaay. He only heard that HE wasn't baby daddy. Ok, but Padre and Alfie are still estupidos! I guess if he knew it was pusbucket he would have taken his slimy head off right at the door. I hadn't heard that clearly on the ep. Okay, back to the cap!

Lila

Thanks, Sylvia. Your recaps are always such treats and this is especially delightful. I'm really having a great time with this show.

Although I'm happy that Roberta is going to face the music, the timing could hardly be worse. Not because it's her wedding day but because she's just about to drop dead.

I was expecting her to conk out during the wedding ceremony... if she doesn't drop during the first 10 min. of tonight's show, then I need a remedial course in TN analysis.

I don't like Jerry. I didn't like his character in LFMB. He seems weak and unstable. I was embarrassed for him quivering and weeping in the bathroom. He really needs to butch up. I do, on the other hand, like his Cheerios commercial.

It seems strange to me that Fina and Blanca have not even crossed paths. It appears so unlikely that they are allied that they almost surely have to be.

Carlos

Sylvia, you have the best sense of humor in the world!! Thanks so much for sharing it with us. Far From the Wedding Crowd was so perfect. I hadn't noticed Blanca's curls getting tighter, but you're so right. Maybe they'll wrap around her head one night and finish her off! And, preggers?? I'm thinking THAT ship sailed a looooong time ago!

Doc Donor-with-a-b*n*r nearly made me spit my tea all over the keyboard. Pie cart time for him. Can we slip a little arsenic in the pies, please?

Sylvia--You made me relive a Madding episode.

That was the sorriest wedding I have ever attended. You got all the right labels on the right folks. The ONLY one smiling smuggly (and triumphantly) was our Malafina (good one).

I heard the juez tell Adri that he couldn't atrasar the wedding a half hour (which she was willing to pay for if he would name the price) because his time was scheduled. Malafina barged in before Adri could try another tactic to protect her investment. Adri was my heroine last night--she and the motorcyclist (could we see some more of him, please?)

Poor Renata, her moment of triumph is going to be short-lived with what Matias and Gonzo reveal. Silvia was super good last night.

Poor Jeronimo, he really thinks Malafina is going to 'fess up to the lies she told him about Renata in their one-on-one. It's going to be a he-said, she-said contest.

Loved all the comments--especially the towel parts. But why didn't I react with ick 'n euww when he does it, but do when Auggie does it....hmm.
NOK

Hola amigos, thank you everyone for your warm, funny and encouraging comments.

Carlos, it just goes to show that sometimes these telenovelas take a while to warm up. I really did NOT like this one at first, but now I'm truly hooked. I have always been a little tender-hearted toward Roberta, even when I hate her, but last night I truly felt sorry for her for many complex reasons. Yes, her own chickens are coming home to roost and she's (mostly) responsible for that, but she always seems so ill-equipped to deal with what's going on around her.

NOK, thanks for the correction on what the judge said. It makes a lot more sense. Those wedding judges are usually tightly scheduled for their events.

Emilia, I think our ad-hoc kitchen team can definitely throw some poison pies together. Manuela might even know some good home "remedies" that we can use.

Lila, isn't it too bad that Zeke didn't hear that Alfonsina thinks the Doc is the daddy? And why oh why would she assume the Doc is? And why oh why does she keep squealing her fears to the rafters? She's losing it because of all her guilt.

I'm hoping that Kari will start putting 2+2 together. She certainly was shocked to hear what Zeke said so surely she will now start wondering WHO the amante could be.

ITA that Jero is seriously deluded if he thinks Fina will somehow explain to Nata why she told Jero all those lies. He still can't possibly fathom such a level of evil in a mother. Good point about his towel-sniffing not having nearly the EWWWW factor as Augie's hair-sniffing.

Sylvia~~~Great, witty recap. I only surf in and out of this novela, but I will continue to read the recaps. I like SN , and I think she looks especially pretty with her hair up. I'm watching Alborada. [Lovely the second time around.] Plus, I'm becoming addicted to the quirky, improbable ''Dona Bella'' on Telefuturo at 8 pm with its prostituta [which is the name her married/father of 3 Onetruelove often calls her] and a May/December romance between a matron and her son's best friend . I recognize 3 guys from Heredos and Dona Barbara and the guy who plays Fernando in Teresa. Check it out. The prostituta's wardrobe is colorful and amazing.

Sorry for the double post. I got two messages telling me that I had typed in the wrong word ID. Que the hell is happening ?

Watching the Doc speak about enjoying Kari's 'mieles' was the biggest ick, ewwww moment for me last night. Although, I am happy to now know the equivalent of goodies in Spanish.

So this novel is 170+ episodes long. So we'll have around 75 episodes of the building and destruction of Renata and Jero's romance. I think then we'll have another 70 episodes or so of the rebuilding of their romance, and a final 30 episodes or so of them together fighting the forces of evil and all the usual big stuff the evil ones usually pull towards the end, until the happy fin. If the writers can accomplish what they did with the first 70+ episodes of build-up, with the next 70+ episodes of separation, groveling (on Jero's part), and reconciliation, then I will be happy. It's been very good so far.

awesome recap, sylvia!!
i especially liked...
What? It’s back to the stupid mirror for you my friend.

Gonzo tells Matias he’s not heard from Renata. As if talking to a man doomed for an execution, he tells Matias “It’s time.”

the quartet, oops no, it’s a trio, plays the wedding march and the sparse number of guests clap for the bride’s entrance

Matias looks like he’s … a dead man walking.

Let the ceremony begin! Berta slowly rises and is the last one to arrive to the judge. (actually when they are summoned Matias seemed to make a point of not helping Berta to her feet and leaving there all alone... she put a victim face and stood up and walked over all by herself...

Fina calls after Adri but it’s too late, our clever friend has made a beeline for the reception.

Berta’s sad mouth transforms into the Giant Chops of Terror.

have to go to part 2 of my meeting for the day. will read all comments and post some more in a few hrs.

Thank you all you recappers. I had no time to try to find the episodes while I was in China -- but now that I am back your vivid descriptions make me feel as if I saw each one. Back for two days & now I'm off again to the Adirondacks with no TV or internet. So I'll be catching up via recaps again in 10 days or so. You are all life savers!

As for this recap what can I say -- Sylvia you are in a class by yourself. So much wit! Thanks again

Sylvia, Re: your comment yesterday: You’re welcome! Anything for a fellow Caray buddy. Didn’t watch the ep last night but I’m reading the recap now.

Awesome recap. Tons of great lines. Here’s a few of my favs:

“He washes his face and calls himself a stupid. He’ll get no argument from us. “

“Looks like he’s got some colored paper to make more cards for her. So childish, so silly, so amazingly hot. I want you Carlos. Right now.”

“Gah, wash my eyes out with bleach, he zeroes in for some wide-mouth face licking (I swear I’m not making this up) but, thankfully, is interrupted by a pounding at the door.”

Looking forward to seeing last night’s ep and Jero’s cringe-worthy meltdown. Not looking forward to tonight’s when I’m sure Nata will be getting moded big time with the Jero’s the baby’s father bomb.

Oh Sylvia! We are so lucky you don't do a stand-up comedy routine in Vegas, choosing instead to use your comedic material on us. You really do make our lives brighter. Thank you.

I loved Adriana's dress with the jewels on the bodice. She looked like a daffodil running around. I think I prefer this Adriana. She seems to fit so well as Renata's friend. When I first started watching CME, there were all those hospital scenes with Adri's mom dying, and I could not figure out the relationship between Ren and Adri, thinking maybe she was Renata's niece. I was surprised to read they were friends. Of course, I must admit Adri #1 sure knew how to bawl. Who else's nose can turn red on command?

I feel bad for Ezekial. I had recently been admiring his No Drama approach compared to all the towel sniffers and then he runs out acting like he will never see his son again. Come back, Zeke!

Sylvia you truly are amazing and what a awesome recap thank you.

This episode was so good and yet hard to watch.

Ezeke finding out his wife cheated on him and he wants to know who?

The Dr. Drinks well past last call tying up Kari and planning to keep her with him forever.Funny how macho Dr. drunk got scared when a enraged Ezeke demanded to see and talk to Kari to find out who his wife's lover was? Yeah Dr. gin and tonic was gulping very scared telling Ezeke that Kari wasn't there.

Karia meanwhile looking like Tammy Faye Baker good one was tied up eyes a bulging muy impacto hearing this latest gossip. She might very well put two and two together from Alfosina's cryptic talks.

Jerko good lucvk with thinking you're going to convince Renata to comeback to you so easily. Alos that Malafina another great nickname will back you up on the big lie she told you about Renata. You'll be finding out real quick why Renata said she doesn't have the best relationship with her mother.

Coni surely you can't believe that old hag is having Hon's child? Please wake up girl.

Yeah i also caught that major disrespect of Matias not helping up his expectant bride from the sofa too. We all know if that was Renata he would have done that and even Adriana.

What a great amiga Adriana is first she tries to stall the wedding but can't because she got caught by Malafina. Then she watches Renata being verbally and physically abused by Malafina.

Vivi i agreed that Malafina has probably treated Renata like that for all of those years especially when she was a little girl. I kept wondering why she was letting her manhandle her like that.
Both Gonzo and Matias caught her in action of her abuse of Renata.I guess Renata reaction was how she acted as a child when Malafina was abusing her like that.

I don't know if Gonzo realizes the implications of what he just saw and overheard. But he definitely wasn't buying any of the B.S. Malafina was selling nor did he put up with the screaming banshee Roberta when she found out Renata was there.

What in the world was Malafina wearing at her own daughter's wedding? The shoes alone didn't look like something you should be wearing for a wedding.

I guess tonight will be the next lie by Malafina and telling Renata that Jerko is really the father of Roberta's baby.It will probably be a doozy since we got no previews for tonight's episode.

It is such a joy to watch great acting and Sylvia Navarro just brings it.

Vivi i'm also going to trust these writers and thank goodness it's not the same ones who had worked on TDA.

ITA about Jero and the mirror... mirror mirror on the wall who's teh stupidest of all?

ITA on the 'it' factor with David de la Mota (Carlos). I can't get myself to delete the La fea mas bella episodes where he visits Fernando and makes friends with Lety and the cuartel (all from his witty feedback to Fernando to his dancing the 'hare krishna' to his telling Paty that the ceremony she is making fun of is sacred for some folks)

Wow! And not even half way through! When did Renata get that R necklace??? I need to pay closer attention or get a better antenna. Hope she doesn't believe them when they blame the pregnancy on Jeronimo. (Because Lord knows they wouldn't consider a dna test on whatever poor kid Fina kidnaps this time to pass off as Roberta's). Still hoping that Roberta comes around, but she looked a little too happy mocking Constanza. But then I guess encouraging empathy didn't fit into mama's plans.

Great recap! And right on about Carlos. He'd be a great head galan, unlike this Jero guy. The putz.

Kelly--Adri had Renata's R necklace fixed and brought it to the vendimia.

When Jero showed her his "proofs" that she was LaBonita starting with the necklace. He had her R necklace (found among Rafa's things), so she ran back to her room (at the hacienda) and got her own.

Then she denied she had written the letter--it was not her handwriting.

Lastly, the photo with Roberta in the foreground had to be LaBonita--saying it was idiodic for him to think that the sister in the background (herself) would have been the one who signed the back of the photo--with all my love, etc.,etc.

Well, gotta go cue up the VCR (yea, I'm old school). My word verification is juision--something we all hope Malafina gets long before #170.

I don't think the revised prenup is legal even though Matias signed it without seeing the new revisions. The lawyer even said he would get in big legal trouble for doing that probably will get him disbarred. I think once the prove he did it on Malafina's orders and not Matias neither Roberta or her mother will enjoy the fruits of that deception.

Oh Sylvia, "Sisterhate is Powerful"! Doesn't that just say it all. Thanks for your work. Now I am going to go back and read your recap. I've been super busy but watching thie amazing and more amazing episodes. So much violence, abuse and hatred squeezed into a couple of hours, my oh my. I am relieved that Gonzo's love has clarified and he is the one true support Renata has.

Susanlynn, I've seen the ads fro Dona Bella during Alborada. It certainly looks interesting. No way I could add another TN to the lineup right now but maybe one or two episodes wouldn't hurt...

Vivi, isn't the "tus mieles" a scream? I instantly translated it to "honey pot" in my head. So, um, yes, now we know what it means.

Güera, you are back! I can't wait to hear about your trip to China when you get back from your next vacation, you little globetrotter you. Thanks for checking in.

Marta, your "mirror mirror on the wall" would have been a perfect title for this episode. How funny that you haven't erased the de la Mota scenes from La Fea. Carlos is certainly a hit with this group.

Blusam, I don't think the prenup is legal either, but it could cause problems for a while. Even longer if Fina decides to get rid of her inconvenient lawyer friend, which I predict she will.

Kelly, you made me laugh out loud when you called Jero a putz. Simple and to the point. Thanks to NOK for explaining about the necklace, you are always so great with the details.

Rosemary LO, I guess I like both Adris. I am fickle that way. They both have their good qualities. I very much liked the original but she got injured and I thought they did a good job on her replacement. She DID look like a daffodil! How funny.

Robey, it's all your fault that I kept thinking TANTRUM whenever poor Matias was on the screen, especially with his perpetual scowl. I don't expect that to change any time soon. Like for 70 episodes going by Vivi's estimate.

Wow, I totally missed that Matias didn't help Roberta up and escort her into the wedding. Duh, and it was so obvious. Not even Fina helped her. It sucks not being liked.

Cheryl, I hope you have time to relax just a little tonight. I just got home after a busy day and all I want to do is relax with a glass of wine (already poured so check off #1) and watch tonight's episode (#2 about to commence).

Commenters, thank you for all your witty statements. Did you know I keep a list of the funniest comments to use as potential titles and one-liners? I give credit if I remember to put the name to the comment. So you see, the recaps really are a group effort.

Well now I have read the recap and all the fine comments. Your humor is over the top on this, a pure joy to read and rethnk the episode. Yes, Carlos is silly hot, we all want him, and now.

I like Matias hesitations, and small slights to Roberta to show her the charade is still just a charade and he doesn't believe in her protestations of love for one moment either.

Oh yes, and I too loved the Thomas Hardy nod in the title. Good comparison to Far from the Madding Crown, so much ado about effete social pretenses.

Malafina worries me, she looks about ready to blow out windows with her next fit.

Amy already posted tonight's recap! I'm watching and reading right now.

I meant Madding CrowD not crowN,. I can't type so well this late.

I agree with you that the comments are worth savoring and saving from this group, Sylvia. We have a particularly witty bunch on ths TN don't you think? I am loving al lthe lively discussions. After tonights episode which I will wait to discuss when the recap is posted to be polite. But, just to say, I think I will bring a mop to the recap on Monday. What a fine bunch of messes to clean up... Nighty night, amigas y amigos.
