La Pola - July 15, 2011 - Discussion Page

In Thursday's episode, Sámano gets a new escort. Alejo will probably get in trouble for returning to Guaduas and putting Delgado in charge.

Alejo takes a giant step by announcing that Pola is not a sinner, that she is exceptional and that he wants to marry her.

The mayor continues his family counseling with Domingo.

Nicolasa gives birth, but the baby is stillborn.

Go to mai tai's guide to la Pola for a list of characters.

ugh... that entire birthing scene was hard to watch. did they have to show the stillborn baby? and Nicolasa running away right after giving birth?

totally loved Alejo standing up for Pola; her face just lit up... so beautiful.

Shallowgal: Both Alejo and Leandro are beginning to become men with their own opinions. They are now both at odds with their father.

I just wonder what will happen if: Francisco arrives in Santa Fé; Pola and Cata arrive in Santa Fé; and Alejo arrives in Santa Fé. And, they are all there at the same time.

Yes, the birthing scene was awful.

Thanks so much for posting this, Pasofino.

Shallowgal, I also loved seeing Alejo standing up for La Pola -- before God and everyone -- and vouching for her virtue. And I loved the way he refused to back down, insisting that the priest give her communion. Just a fabulous scene.

The birth scene was absolutely wrenching, but I admire this production for not averting its eyes from the tragedy. And not only is the baby stillborn but his mother is certainly doomed to die after that self-inflicted emergency c-section. (I can't believe anything will save her even if she is persuaded not to jump.)

On the other hand -- waaaaaay on the other hand -- the Domingo/Alcalde Andrés scene was a hoot. With each detail that Domingo reveals about the apparently not so fría Catarina, the alcalde gets more excited. And now that the foolish Gertrudis has planted the seed in his mind that he, Andrés, is the object of her passion, things should get even more interesting...

But the best thing of all in this episode -- Magdalena's plea to the junta has been heard and honored and in Cartagena, Nariño is finally released from prison.

BTW, Pasofino, on the Telemundo page we've dealt with the issue of a small but enthusiastic group of commenters by posting a page weekly but commenting daily, using a heading so people know what day's episode you are referring to. People often choose to write a mini-recap, a few hundred words perhaps, but not always.

Anyway, I'm grateful you've decided to put up a page daily. It's just that it's a lot for one person to take on. And when there are only a handful of daily comments, it can feel unrewarding. But a week's worth of comments is a different story.

Whatever you decide to do, I'm happy you are doing it. We Pola fans need an outlet!

hola a los dos!

ADM (ay Dios mio)!! how could I almost forget 'the Domingo/Alcalde Andrés scene'? the Alcalde's facial expression was hilarious. you could tell he was getting hot and bothered. whew.

NovelaMaven: I'm still going to post the full recap on Saturday. I know it's a lot to do. This is the best Spanish-language program I've ever watched. I love it, and I'll do it for as long as I can last.

you are a saint, Pasofino. bless you!

Thanks Pasofino. I continue being amazed at how good this show is. I agree with shallowgal that you are a saint.

Carlos

Pasofino:

Do not think your efforts are going unnoticed or under appreciated. Regardless of the number of comments, there are a lot more viewers out there who are discovering and tuning in to this novela and enjoying your recap and associated discussions. Although it may be a lengthy production, I think that is good as it will allow for more fans to join us in this adventurous and well-scripted novela. I hope it wins a lot of Columbian novela awards as it really seems to set a very high standard for overall excellence...And, yes since we all agree you are an angel/saint, I'm sending you a virtual halo to wear while doing the recaps...
