Triunfo del Amor #160 7/6/11

Woo hoo! We get to relive Fer's miracle! It never gets old. I was back on the edge of my seat, silently cheering and begging the bus driver to open the door.

Fer and Cruz marvel that she is standing and walking. Fer says she did it for him. Smoochies and mi riqueza. The crowd applauds. Fer says she loves him. Please forgive her. Cruz says all that matters is their future. They will be together and no one will separate them. (Now if she will get preggers my happiness will be complete.) As they are leaving a bus station employee asks about the chair. Fer donates it for future passengers who may not be able to walk. She is praised for her generosity.

Maria walks into the hospital room and discovers Fer is gone. She makes like a tree and leaves.

Leo thanks Dr. Voice for confessing that he was once an alcoholic. He says the hardest thing about being an alcoholic is accepting that you are one. Leo starts to make excuses..."pero..." No no, says Voice. No buts. You won't be able to move forward until you admit it.

Maria informs Vic and Max that Fer is gone. Momentary panic and OMG Vic says "¿Dónde está mi hjia? I didn't think we'd hear that again. But all is well, Fer and Cruz walk in and everyone stares at each other happily. There are tears and happiness. Where the hell is Os? It's a miracle Vic proclaims. A miracle of love Fer confirms. Group hug.

Nati and Millie blah blah. Nati fills Millie in on the Cruz/Fer reconciliation and subsequent walking miracle. She also tells Millie that Cruz is giving up the gig as the next Ranchero Idol. Millie thanks former popes, the virgencita and all the saints.

Vic is yammering about Fer and Cruz coming back home and Fer lets her know that she'll be moving back to the vecindad. Max says mama has to cut the apron strings. Vic says she'll be lonely. Fer reminds her that papá is still there. Vic lets her know that Os left for reasons she doesn't want to discuss. Vic says Max is right. Fer has to live her own life.

Napo comes in search of an answer to his proposal. In the course of conversation, he and Millie discover the JuanJo/Cruz postal matchmaking plan (remember that?) FF>>

The random dude who conveniently recorded Linda's death on his phone is playing pool with a buddy when he sees Gui being interviewed on TV. He recognizes him as the dude that was with the lady with the wig. An aside: I am thoroughly confused. Last night this guy was saying he would recognize the chick who pushed Linda 'cause she looked like the blonde hailing a cab in front of him. I thought Xi was wearing that black wig at the time. Tonight this guy even says she was wearing a wig. Help please? So guy moves closer to the TV and at that moment Gui says his full name. It's the interview after the theater failure so he is saying that he, Guillermo Quintana will personally make sure blabbity blabbity. So random guy blabbity blahs and I don't catch it. I assume blackmail is afoot.

Napo is trying to get an answer out of Millie. Millie accepts, but Napo heard "no" and continues to yak. Nati has to shut him up to tell him Millie said yes. Napo channels Gomez Addams and sings a little Florecita.

Cruz and Fer go to the church and thank the Virgencita for Fer's being able to walk. Fer thanks her for her marvelous man. Marvelous man thanks her for Fer and says he doesn't need anything for himself.

Millie, Napo, Chente and Nati dine FF>> oh. Blockhead is home.

Pip spreads the good news about Fer and pushes Fab and Luci together.

Burnie is not happy with the designs that were done during her absences. Xi argues its the latest stuff. Burnie says Casa Bernarda creates the fashion, not follows it. Xi says she knows what she's doing and wants Burnie so trust her. The designs are fresh. She has been the top model in this house for a long time. She tells Burnie that the fashions she likes are a little de passé. They need to be more innovative. Xi reminds here that the best and brightest will be at the bienal. Burnie broods.

JuanJo and crew. Don Joel tonterías. JuanJo finds out Napo is gonna be his stepdaddy. Millie wants a Jalisco style wedding.

Burnie tells Xi she'll trust her, but Xi better not fail her.

Pip lets the crew know that Oscar is in New York taking care of business-y stuff. The crew decides they are going to kick arse and the fashion event and Burnie needs to watch it.

Ok....here it comes!!!!

Cruz and Fer have returned to the vecindad. Everyone is thrilled that they are back and that Fer is walking. Cruz tells them all he is giving up the singing career and continuing his studies in veterinary medicine. Don Tonto and his Jarochas do a dance for Fer but it is interrupted by Diana-ho. She knew he wasn't going to leave. Cruz wants to know what she's doing there. He told her he doesn't want to see her again. She tells him to think. Doesn't he realize he has a brilliant career ahead of him. How many people would love to be in his place. No. He would rather throw it all away for this woman who doesn't support him. That just brings him shame or was that Fer was ashamed of him (?) Fer jumps up: Basta! Oh, are you surprised I can walk? Fer says the only shame she feels is being in front of a HO like Diana. THWAAAP! (I wish we could have gotten an echo on that)  and then a back-handed THWAAAAP!  for good measure. Yeah!!!!

Fer throws Diana-ho out of the vecindad and everyone joins in with jeering. Cruz declares Fer the winner.

Vic reminisces about her big braid days, her labor, Padilla, getting hit by a car, Linda-ho, Fer's accident and cancer. She returns to the present. She is Victoria Sandoval. A strong woman, maybe a bit down but not beat. She's gonna get her life back and her position back in the fashion world.

Max and Fer talk bout the 'rents. We have to let them live their lives. Cruz brings dinner. Fer is sad about her parents, but Max is right. The kids can't interfere with the parents. Let them live their life.

Millie and the vecindad are talking about the money they collected for the ransom but I can't figure out what they decide. Max comes and thanks them all for their help and support.

Commercial break: no TdA on Friday. They are dragging this out.

Fer is eating dinner with Os. He is tickled pink that she can walk. She thanks him for supporting her. She is sad he's not at the house any more, but like Max says, they have to respect the decisions they made. Os says she knows he loves Vic with all his soul, but his heart can't control her. Life is like that.

Voice is paying a call on Victoria. They make small talk about Fer for a bit. Vic explains it was love that did it. Fer heard Cruz was leaving and she used all her might to walk so she could stop him. Voice says love is the strongest medicine. Voices excuses himself, sure that Os wouldn't be happy. Vic tells him Os doesn't live there anymore (hey, did I mention I'm team Os?)  Vic explains that she told Os herself about the smoochies. She tells Voice that Os left her free to decide. Dr. Voice wants to know what she decided, but right now she doesn't want to talk about her personal life. (When this convo started I thought it would be a little more important. It really isn't. ) Right now, Vic is all about the hijos and their stuffs. Dr. Voice takes a moment to advise Vic how to deal with Maria Desamparada. Give her space. Vic says she's decided to back off. Voice says Maria has always been alone and persevered alone. Vic's need to be forgiven could overwhelm her. Vic isn't going to pressure her. Dr. Voice says look at Fer, her passion for Cruz helped her walk. Maria needs to face a similar situation and that will bring a reaction.QTH? I'm not translating it well, but even in Spanish it makes no sense to me. Weren't they in a life threatening situation together? Didn't that soften Maria at all? Anyway. Voice leaves.

Max and Maria smooch and make lovin'. Why exactly are they not married yet?

No cliffhangers tonight.

Max in a kayak with his six-pack.

Comments:
I love this TN, btw. It's a train wreck for sure, but I just grin when the theme song starts up every night. Complete escapism I love you.

Thanks for the recap! I depend on you guys.

I have been watching this online. That way, I can fast-forward through the icky parts. I am getting tired of bedroom scenes. And I CANNOT stand Cruz' rendition of Ave Maria. My husband is musically talented and finds fault with many things that I fail to hear the mistakes. This song is like nails on a chalkboard for me. If I hear the mistakes, they are really bad.
I had it on tonight while I graded papers, so I muted that part and turned it over to HGTV during the love scenes.

Cindy

Sara, your enthusiasm is contagious. I haven't commented in about a week mainly because I couldn't think of anything clever to say though I've loved the recaps and the comments.

My favorite line tonight of course is:

"Ok....here it comes!!!!"

I doubt that there is a single person who didn't know what you are referring to. Very satisfying.

I kinda liked Victoria's resolve tonight... sort of "me against the world". I almost care... almost.

I'm sure the JuanJo fans are glad that he's back and safe.

I fast forwarded through:

"Max and Maria smooch and make lovin'."

I love the question:

"Why exactly are they not married yet?"

Yes, why indeed?

Carlos

Sara: "Why exactly are they not married yet?"

Carlos: "Yes, why indeed?"

Silly Billies -- it's not the last episode yet!

Thank you Sara for yet another fabulous job.

And the double thwack -- DOUBLE --
WOW! Then Dianita crawls back under the rock she came out of and Cruz raises the arm of the winner. So perfect.

BTW, re the random guy and his cellphone video of Xi pushing Linda under the car: I could be wrong (I often am, alas) but I thought the guy said (a few shows back) that he saw the same woman (ie Xi) come out of the hotel a while later. He recognized her although she had removed the wig and jacket. He also saw some guy with her. Then he recognized him on tv as Gui. I think he plans to hang out at the opening of Othello. (I didn't catch anything about blackmail but I wasn't listening all that closely.)

NM- I just assumed blackmail. I didn't listen so closely either.

Sara, thanks for another excellent recap. Loved the buildup to Fer's pimp slap on Diana. Can we nominate that for the best slap of the entire TN? I might have forgotten some good ones from earlier, but this was soooo satisfying.
When I heard the intro to Ave Maria in the chapel, I was afraid Cruz would sing it, so I switched channels for a minute.
La Paloma

Sara: Gracias otra vez! I actually got to see it on the telly and not Daily Motion for a change! Super job as always. :))

Dr. Carlos said: "I'm sure the JuanJo fans are glad he is back and safe" HA! Not on your life, mister! I was hoping the BLOCKHEAD was never going to return. What was even more sickening was watching the 'new' Nathi in her role as Wife of BLOCKHEAD.

Before I forget...what was the name of the woman that Oz spurned and Gui killed? What happened to that story line? Is no one wondering all this time why she just up and disappeared?! Or was she found and I just missed that part as well?

Susanita

Sara: Forgot to add that I love "Tres Palabras" and even more so now that I recently got to see and hear Luis Miguel sing it in person. It was a super lovely evening!

Susanita

I'm not a fan of Luis Miguel, but I love "Tres Palabras". There's a Frank Sinatra quality to it that made me buy the CD.

You want to hear someone butcher ranchera music, listen to LM's CD of it. He doesn't have either the earthiness or emotional expression this music needs. It's regrettable that the "Ave Maria" in this series isn't well done but I think that Mejia perversely uses the worst take or (I don't remember the first scene it appeared in FELS) that it was meant to sound as though Franco Reyes was crying during the song (it's the same take).

How is Cruz going to pay for veterinary college without the singing career? Maybe Osvaldo will have a talk with him about this. I can see, however, how it would be difficult to make time for both.

Fer must love him like mad to be looking at a future with him as a rural veterinarian. Considering his background I can't imagine him as a city vet tending to purse dogs.

Although it would be lovely if he could become another Kevin Richardson...

Victoria has another Scarlett O'Hara moment... and she's going to crush Bernarda in the next competition. She has all the motivation in the world. Maybe Fer will be walking well enough to go on the catwalk next to Maria by then and Bernarda will really have something to fume about.

Ofelia: There could be an assumption that she left D.F. to join her husband in Spain. That is, if they didn't have a huge public row before his departure (I watch too many novelas to remember back that far).

I can see the guys with the incriminating video turning up at Gui's opening night, but I'm hoping for a more spectacular ending for him and Xi than being arrested for this murder.

As for Diego Olivera, I'd love for him to star in my (still hypothetical) proposed Televisa production of Dark Shadows. Wouldn't he look great in fangs and a cape? ;)

Great recap, helping us to relive some long-awaited great moments! Fer is our woman of the hour(s).

So Victoria has her chicks taken care of (more or less and for the moment) so she can return triumphantly to her work. Lots of competition here in the final episodes.

I adore Cesar Evora yet find his know-it-all ways just too much. He's right about everything, of course, making it hard for his two main female fans (Leo and Vic) to escape him and his beautiful voice. Again, sticking with team Os, I suppose I like my wisdom with less preaching and more doing. I guess we'll soon know who gets the nod from Victoria.

Thank you again for the great English recaps. I've read a little about the ending of this story, but hope that it's a misprint in some regards.
Diego Oliveras as Barnabas Collins in "Dark Shadows" would surely be a treat since I was a great fan of this soap. He would surely be phenominal!
Thanks again. God Bless.
Anne S.

Sara - Thank you for yet another recrap. Double duty this week and well done! You are either a saint or a masochist. (wink/grin)

"(Dr. Voice) says the hardest thing about being an alcoholic is accepting that you are one. Leo starts to make excuses..."pero..." No no, says Voice. No buts. You won't be able to move forward until you admit it."
Wow,,, I have to give Mejía credit for this very accurate PSA. It's one of the few things he's done right in this circo.

Nope, I don't remember JuanJo's postal matchmaking plan and am grateful for that. ;-)

Woot!Woot! I can't wait to watch Fer and give the old heave-ho to DianaHo.

"Why exactly are they not married yet?"
Uuummmmm.... because, alas, El Gran Por Fin isn't for another couple of weeks.

It does seem odd that Ofelia's husband hasn't put out an APB on her. She's been missing ... how long???

Sara, thanks so much for the recap.

I loved the double THWAAAP, she so deserved it. Fer looked a little surprised that she had finally done it.

Whoever ends up with Vic is getting damaged goods. Sorry, but I think she still has long way to go for her redemption.

Maybe the neighbors will give the ransom money to Cruz for his education.

Rosemary

Hmm, Diego in fangs and a cape. I can imagine that quite easily! In fact, I like that better than fangs, cape and clothing!

Ofelia was pretty nasty to her husband and wanted out, so I'm not surprised he's not sounding the alarms for her. I think if he decides to look for her to get a divorce and can't find her, then he'll start to wonder.

Where were these two witnesses when Victoria was arrested for Linda's murder?

Sara wonderful job and thanks for doing double duty.

Susanita it's been mentioned that the woman who Os spurned and Gui had as his one time lover her name is ofelia. Gui killed her when she learned about his plans to steal the theater from Os. She unsuccessfully tried to blackmail him.

Now Ximena strongly suspects he killed her and so does Leonela from over hearing a conversation between Ximena and Gui.

As with Alonso know one seems so concerned to worry about where he is the same applies to Ofelia and she has been killed a long time ago.

Boy did i enjoy that slap from Fer not one but two that nasty skankho" deserved it now she needs to be fired fro her job.

Wow Fer is a chip off the old block with that double slap. Vic would have been proud. I loved seeing how carefully she was walking. That was good acting since most times as soon as she got up off the floor in the bus station she would have been walking normally not struggling as she was. Speaking of that bus station scene i thought it incredibly odd that when she got out of the chair and fell and was doing all that struggling to get up NOT ONE single person in a crowded station stepped forward to help her. I know, I know plot need but still it looked odd.

I agree that The Voice is a tad too know it all and controlling ergo Vic will go back to Os. She just simply isn't the kind of woman to take being directed as The Voice does. If she was still the timid braid girl from the beginning yes, but as the strong independent woman she is now - no. Looks like the perfect match for him is the needy Leo.

I love the idea of the two sisters strutting down the runway. That would drive Burnie over the wall and is in kind of nice F You gesture from Vic.

The cringe inducing Ave Maria drove me nuts. It is not a difficult song to sing but it is a difficult song to sing well which PM proves every time. There are a million versions out there that could be used but we consistently get the clinker and I'm will to bet we will be treated to it yet again at the fin wedding.

Still among the missing - Alonso and the two babies.

Blusam: Ah...I didn't realise that Leonela now suspects Gui as the one who murdered Ofelia (thanks to all for clearing this up...I could not remember her name). I, too, hope that Gui and X-Factor get punished rather severely for what they have done to others. Going to jail is not enough. There has to be some kind of emotional payback as well.

Speaking of Gui...what is that prominent blemish that one sees on his nose in High Definition?! LOL! Has that always been there.

UA: I am not surprised that ranchera music is not Luis Miguel's primary genre. Sinatra invited him to sign a duet with him on one of his duets albums and I can see why. While LM stated at the beginning of his concert that he was going to be singing boleros, I really felt he was singing in a modern style of jazz that one would hear on radio stations that specialise in jazz fusion and more progressive jazz styles. I was very impressed with his vocal range and vocalise. In fact, I think many in the audience could not 'understand' his musical style on this particular tour. He can sing for me any day.

Getting back to loose ends...so, if I understand correctly...Alonso just faded away into the clouds when he walked out of the church during the wedding that was not to be?

I suppose I prefer satisfactory endings for characters...they don't have to be good or bad endings...just satisfactory.

As for Diego in "Dark Shadows"...oh yes...that would be absolutely lovely!

Susanita

Yes, where are the two baby boys in the lasts few episodes?

The idea of genetically diluting Nati with JuanJo is indeed cringeworthy.

Max and Maria have to have the wedding of the year and I bet we're also waiting for Nati's baby to be born first.

Also betting that both Maria and Fer will be pregnant in the finale. Victoria would love that.

Did Diana not know that Fernanda was the daughter of Osvaldo Sandoval?

Why didn't Cruz or Fer tell Osvaldo? I'm sure Os could have had Diana working at the Televisa craft services table after he found out what she was doing.

Anon207: Diana does not strike me as the brightest bulb, but I would agree...how could she not know that Fer is Oz daughter? Diana claims to be in PR, but does not seem to know that Oz factoid? Odd, indeed.

UA: Great...baby BLOCKHEAD has to be born first before we have the wedding of the century. OY!

Susanita

Dani and Urban An

It's funny that you ask about the babies, If you ever watched american soaps when someone has a baby you dont even see the baby leaving the hospital sometimes the baby doesnt show up for months.
With Mejia's version we still seeing the babies often.
rosa

Thanks for the great recap.

I too am on team Oz. Victoria is unbelievably vain, and seems to learn nothing from life. She does what she wants and thinks she is invincible--much like a teenager. So she's probably going to end up with Daddy Know-it-all Voice, someone to help her grow up.

Oz, you deserve better. Run, don't walk from this selfish, immature Victoria.

My ears are still bleeding from that Ave Maria. I thought that wacko note from Florecita was bad (de mi amoooooor), but Ave Maria was absolutely atrocious the entire time. Does PM have no say in it or is he tone deaf?

Hahaha love the BLOCKHEAD nickname. That's exactly what we had been calling him here "cabeza de cubo" (cubehead).

Does anyone think there is a chance that Voice will fall out of love with Vic and end up with Loonie?

Anon 12:07

I have watched American soaps and you are right about the baby's. Some pregnancies go on long past nine months, baby's come home and in a couple of years are toddlers then BOOM full on teens. GH did it a couple of years ago. The cute little kiddies were suddenly angst ridden teens with drug problems, abusive boyfriends and none of the parents looked a day older and even the houses were the same. I quit at that point.

thanks x 2! My fav: "Why aren't these two married yet?" Exactly what I was thinking. Like what have they been waiting for?

BTW, has Alonso simply walked off into the sunset never to be heard from again? How will we know when he's finalloy made the trek to that big photo studio in the sky?

Dani As per avance last night I think we will see the babies tonight.

10 more capitulos for the BIG wedding!!I will be waiting.

rosa

BTW Sara I forgot to thank you for the great recap.

Thanks everyone! I awoke this morning thinking of the plots that went no where or were pointless:

*Maria Magdalena
*The lady carpenter
*The 40 year old orphan drug addict
*all the orphans really
*Linda-ho (I never felt satisfied with the way that went down and once Vic was exonerated, no one seemed to investigate further...though it appears they may going back to it.)
*The fashion line for real women with Millie as main model.
*Alonso dammit. They could have done something different with him. Just having him ride off into the desahuciado sunset? I cry foul!

I really hope they wrap up the Eva/Fausto/Burnie plot. There are plenty of sins for Burnie to pay for, but I especially want her to pay for what happened to Fausto.

Sara- Thank you for the wonderful recap and double duty this week! The dropped plot lines are also driving me batty with this tn. I don't think I've ever seen so many in one tn. I don't think even half of the ones you mentioned will be solved in the last few episodes we have.

I missed the episode last night, but will have to FF to the Fer slaps. Yes!

Babies growing overnight in US soaps was one of the things that made me stop watching them. At least in novelas there is usually some logical progression about the growth of kids.

Maria Magdelena was meant to be a red herring. She got away from El Alacran and it would be safe for her to return if she wanted to.

"Real women" fashion should have a conclusion, true. I don't think it was followed through in EPDA either.

As for Alonso I think we'll have an episode in which his lawyer contacts Maria and Max, either leaving all his money to them or their kids or making them executors of his estate with all his cash going to charity.

I just told my shrink how Karmageddon should get Xi and Gui; only another two weeks before I know if I got it right.

The thing with Maria M is that they were for sure going with the linking her to Lenora the Lady Carpenter. Their stories were matching up so well. This is a case where the writers dropped the ball. Just like where they were originally going with the Nathi/Fab hook-up, but then changed their minds. But these are minor compared to some of the other unresolved plot threads.

Hilda: I am dying laughing that you like my BLOCKHEAD name and that you had your own name for him, too! Super!

In fact, as a fan of the old Dr. Who with the marvelous Tom Baker, BLOCKHEAD reminds me of one of the evil characters on Dr. Who. I'd have to look it up, but I am almost sure they were called 'Centaurans'. They looked like they had cement heads. BLOCKHEAD is a chip off their blocks!

Sara: LOVE your list and ITA!! From the perspective of someone who has had to miss so much of this TN, it just seems that something changed with the writers in mid-stream. I don't like so many loose ends. Everything must have its proper denouement.

If anyone deserves a proper resolution to his many issues, it is Fausto.

Susanita

If I was the real-life BF of Maite Perroni, I'd be kinda tripped out about some of these make out scenes. I know they're actors, but those two seem to have more than just a little chemistry going.

That was a satisfying pair of slaps. And a satisfying recap...the episode on the other hand...wearing the print off my FF button!

What the song when cruz go away and ferr start walking. ?
