Teresa Mon 7/11/11 #94 Aida Sticks Her Size 6 Shoe Into Her Size 10 Mouth; Teresa Warms Up and Wises Up
Capítulo 94
In Spain—where the rain falls mainly on the plane—Teresa and Arturo (of las nalgas extraordinarias) continue touring Madrid. He warms her up with a hug and a hot cup of coffee at a nearby cafe. (That smile and the memory of those jammie bottoms is all it takes to warm me up!)
Meanwhile, back in the barrio, Johnny talks Gema into backing up his story that he got the loan from her instead of bad-boy Fito, whose money source is always questionable, and that he’s not got to pay her any interest. Gawd knows why, but she agrees to go along with it.
Tere thanks Art for making her dream to see Europe a reality. He gets a call from Luisa telling him that she’s moving in with Fernando. Later in their hotel room, while Tere’s checking through all her bling, Art grumbles about Luisa’s jumping into things with Nando. Teresa reminds him Lu’s a big girl now and can manage well enough on her own. It’s his BFF after all. That’s what makes Art so antsy, though. Luisa’s getting carried away; all of a sudden now moving in with him! That’s what love is, tho’, he says. He turns to Tere and asks if she’s happy. She’s content and they are having a nice time. She thinks back to her mother suggesting that when she’s in Europe that she should try starting over from scratch with Arturo again. It would seem from the look on Ter’s face that she’s ready to take Mama up on it.
Art asks Tere why she’s so pensive. She tells him that being happy is rather a question of a personal decision, i.e. a choice one makes. He looks over at her. “--Then choose to be happy with me, Teresa.” (Viewerville notes that for a second time there’s no secret crinkling up of Tere’s nose.
Back in Mexico, Aurora and Mariano are in a heavy duty discussion about Aida and her obnoxious attitude concerning the life of her would-be little half-brother. Aurora suggests that if things were reversed and it was his mother instead of her father, he might feel the same as Aeeeda. (Wow, is it me or has Mar decided not only to stop channeling Lyle Lovett but dumped Francois Marcel as well!) Yeah, he will try he groans.
Luisa and Fernando make it back to his apartment. She tells him that she called and told Art what they were doing. Just then she gets a picture of Art and Tere smiling in front of that statue. Fer gets a bit pensive and says well it looks like they’re off to a good start. and doesn’t let on that he’s also pretty darned bummed about it, too. Nando and Luisa start the smoochies.
Back in Spain, Art tries to nuzzle, but Teresa tells him not to get ahead of things just yet and goes to bed.
At the hospital again, Aurora wonders why Mar seems so lost in thought [ensimismado]. He says he was thinking about her. She’s such a good person, defending Tere and Aeeeda repeatedly through the years, and Martin saw this. It’s a shame, he says, that he couldn’t see this so clearly or things might have been different between them. She and he stare into each others’ eyes for a few seconds and almost look as if they might kiss--but Blonde Doctora shows up to see a patient who’s got a specific disease Aurora was asking about earlier.
At Casa de los Cáceres, Genoveva and Maira are gossiping about Esperanza. Maira can’t believe how easily she got another respectable man to defend her. She won’t be able to forget the woman as long as she’s pregnant because there’s always the possibility that that baby really is the hubby’s. Gen says ehh! It’s unlikely the baby will get born, so why worry about it. Despite everything, Maira says she wouldn’t wish losing a baby on anybody, not even Espe. (Too bad Aeeeda never got the decency genes from Mama.) Gen says, yeah, she’d actually like to see the baby born also.
Speaking of Espe, Juana’s visiting her and putting in a good word for Hernan and how much he loves not only Espe, but her baby as well. He comes in to check on her just at that point.
That night, Pati and Johnny discuss the do’s and don’ts of happy married couples that Refugio and Juana have mentioned. (Ugh! This is so moronic.) Mariano comes by. (Note: He just walks right on in to Refugio’s sans knock.) Pati leaves the two of them to talk.
Hector the Director brings Juana home. He professes his love for her. The two kiss on the lips just as Cutberto barges on in uninvited. (Again without knocking? What a jerk!) He gives Juana grief for being a holier-than-thou hypocrite by going out with a married man. Hec gives Buttberto heck and says FYI, he’s now divorced and Juana’s seen the paperwork. Not only that, but they’re formally engaged. Buttberto assumes the bedraggled puppy-dog position while Juana looks at the dirty spot on her high-heeled huaraches.
Mariano can’t believe Johnny got a loan from Gema and didn’t get even an I.O.U. from her, not to mention she’s not charging interest. Something’s not right. Hell hadn’t frozen over and pigs weren’t flying outside the vecindad’s windows the last time he checked. Johnny says he can ask her himself. Mar decides to do just that.
Back at Juana’s apartment, Buttberto can’t believe “hope is dead”, but Hector says yep, for for the butthead it is. He knows they’ve been neighbors, but now she’s engaged to him and if Buttberto can’t respect that, then he doesn’t want him anywhere near Juana.
The next day Pati runs into Grumps on the street. He gives her grief for carrying a shopping bag full of groceries. She’s sweet to him and tells him she’s happy and doing fine, then walks on. He’s grumpier than ever after that. FF>>
Aida enters into Esperanza’s hospital room spoiling for a fight. The two of them argue. Aida pushes her around and demands to know who the baby-daddy really is. Is it a mini-bigote or not??!! Espe eventually caves under the bullying and tells Aeeeda that Rubigote knocked her up, so to put that in her pipe and smoke it!
Outside the vecindad, Johnny and Pati are yapping when they notice Buttberto coming out with his bag packed. Buttberto says he’s leaving for his hometown, Zacatecas, because Juana is marrying somebody else. They try to talk him out of it, but can’t. He’s got letters he wrote to folks and asks Johnny to pass them out for him. He walks off into the sunset.
Back in Espe’s hospital room, Aeeeeeda is shut-my-mouth impactaco. (Naw, Espe and the rest of us should only be so lucky!) Aeeeda goes on an even bigger tirade and starts accusing Espe of wanting to take advantage of her family with the baby. Espe tries using logic (a waste of time, of course) and says she doesn’t need or want anything from the Cáceres’s. If she were trying to take advantage of her and her family she’d have gone to her mother a long time ago, but maybe she should now and tell her what a creep her husband really is once and for all, because not only did he cheat on her but--. Aeeeda starts shaking Espe really violently and then threatens her not to come near her mother. Before Espe can tell her that Rubigote is also screwing around with Gen, her stomach starts to cramp up. (Where are all the nurses during this commotion? Hospital rooms can’t be all that soundproof.) Aeeeda knows she just screwed up big time and goes running for a doctor. Aurora’s there and runs into see about Espe while Aeeeda races for her Ob and the nurse.
In Spain, Art is still worried about his little sis. Teresa says he’s overprotective, but she understands considering what he went through with Paloma. Even though she’s not supposed to mention her name again, it’s a part of his past and she understands how that makes him worry that others will do the same to him. Art admits he is overprotective and that’s why he overreacted with her, too. He’s so afraid that everyone he loves will abandon him like PatPal did. He appreciates that she realizes that about him now. “--Teresa, I want you to stay with me always, my whole life.” She smiles--almost sincerely--and caresses his face wistfully.
Back at the hospital, Hernan is worried but the Ob says if Espe is able to rest completely, they can possibly still save the baby. The pregnancy is hanging on a thread and Aeeeda is at her wits end with worry—probably more about herself and what Mar will think than for Espe and her baby.
It’s snowing in Madrid. Tere thanks Art again for making her dream come true. Arturo answers that his only dream in life is to make her happy. They look into each other’s eyes and as the beautiful flake flutter down, he kisses her. Tere is not opposed, it seems. (Score a few more for Team Arturo.)
In Mexico again, Juana and Refugio are visiting with Espe. Espe can’t relax like she should, because she’s worried she’s going to lose her baby. FF>>
Nando and Lu profess how happy they are with each other. Playing house is great preparation for the real thing. They get busy again..... FF>>
Later on, Hernan comes in to chat with Espe and get her mind off her worries by telling him all about herself and her life. FF>>
Meanwhile, Mariano accuses Aeeeda of trying to provoke an abortion by going into Espe’s room and arguing with her when he told her quite clearly Espe was off limits and why. Mar makes it crystal clear to her that if Espe loses her baby now she’s going to be the one blamed for it. (Whoa, that is a horse of a different color now, isn’t it, Aeeeeeda, you bad-mouthing, barrio-bating, abogada de quinta. Our fifth-rate lady lawyer must have been playing post-office with Paulo the day they brought that up in law school.) She stands there crying and denying she meant any harm. (She actually seems to believe it. Viewerville thinks it’s more likely she’s finally realized she might actually have to face up to the trouble she’s caused for once in her pampered life!) She stands there gnawing at her nails and hyperventilating.
Fito stops by the Barerra manse and gets friendly with Reina. Fito stops by the Barerra manse and gets friendly with Reina. He thanks her for helping him out in trying to speak to Tere and gives her a “gift” of some cookies as a thank you. She’s thrilled, and while she ooh’s and ahhh’s over them he gets this totally demonic grin on his face.
Aeeeda refuses to take the blame for what happened to Espe. (Excuse me? Seems she conveniently omitted the part about her violently shaking and pushing Espe around, and we know Espe wouldn’t ever give her away.) Mariano wants to know why Aeeeeda was in Espe’s room. She tells him that she couldn’t handle the terrible anxiety any longer over not knowing whose baby it was. He gets hoppin’ mad, and says he knows she can’t stand the thought of somebody else in the world having the same blood in their veins as precious Papa’s, but she should have discussed it with Papa and not Espe!
Aeeeda tells him not to be angry because she had to know if that baby is her papi’s or not! It’s Espe and his fault for not telling her before! Anyway, Espe’s already told her now that it’s her daddy’s. She wants to know if her father knows it’s his. Mariano tells her to ask him for herself. She says she doesn’t need to. Mar’s non-answer tells her all she needed to know. She tries apologizing again, but he’s not interested. She got what she wanted and he hopes she’s happy now! He makes it plain he doesn’t want anything more to do with her, ever and walks out the door.
Later that day, Mar confronts Gema about Johnny’s loan. She backs up Johnny’s story and leaves Mar scratching his head. FF>>
Back in Spain, Art and Teresa return to their hotel room. It’s late and time for bed. Art reminds Teresa that they passed a major milestone and he wants to take the relationship farther now but won’t unless she asks him to. She says she’s still not ready. She can’t get passed what happened. He tells her she should try and that she should consider this the honeymoon they couldn’t take before. He gently caresses her cheek and leaves the room.
Aeeeda has gone to Gen’s place to tell her what happened with Espe. Gen is ticked that Aeeeda just couldn’t let sleeping dogs lie. Now the baby might be lost. Gen loses it when she hears. Aeeeda can’t understand the sudden concern. Gen catches herself in time and tells her it’s only because there’ll be a real scandal if they accuse her and her daddy of causing the baby’s death. (Good catch Gen!) Aeeeda doesn’t need any reminding about that. “--If that happens Mariano will never want to have anything more to do with me ever!” (Girl, he doesn’t now! Or did you miss that part of the argument?)
Bedtime again in Spain. Teresa’s in bed. Art comes out of the shower in his towel. (OMG!) She tells him not to be angry with her. She is the first to want to fall in love with him. “--Say what?” She corrects herself. “--Well, yeah. To fall in love with you again, to feel those butterflies you get in your stomach and all that.” (Teresa! Accept being pampered, take a good look at those pecs of his, and then get with the program already!!!! What in tarnation are you waiting for??? Sheesh!) Art says she has nothing to lose but the both of them have everything to gain. In the end tho’, it’s up to her. She needs to decide. He heads to the living room to sleep again on the couch.
Back in Mexico, Pati tells Juana and Refusio that Buttberto left for his hometown since Juana’s gotten engaged to somebody else. Juana breaks down in tears. FF>>
Mariano tells Aurora that what Aeeeda did was almost criminal. (Hey, if you’d seen what we saw, you’d realize it was criminal, no almost about it.) He’s frustrated by Espe’s condition and disappointed in Aeeeda. Aurora does what she does best, gives him another consoling hug.
On the other side of the world, Teresa stands in the little hallway in her skimpy baby-doll’s and sexy robe staring at the sleeping hunk o’ hubby on the couch. She crawls onto the couch and wakes him up. “--What’s up? What’s wrong? Can’t sleep? Wanna talk?” “--No. What I want is to fall in love with you.” She leans over and kisses him passionately. Arturo kisses back just as passionately as the theme song swells.

I am going to be looking forward to Rube being reamed now. Darn, I wish Espe had told her about Geno, but too soon for the story.

Great stuff Jardinera! You never disappoint and you had some "fun" stuff to deal with last night. (well I can do without the Johnny/Grumps/Pati stuff).

Well that first scene where it is bedtime in Madrid, and Teresa turns Art away, Art looked frustrated as heck, like he was about to cry, and I thought that was very true to life. For a guy, in a moment like that, it feels like you’re about to die.
I thought another true to life moment was when Fernando was reluctant to talk to Arturo about Luisa moving into his bachelor pad. Then he finally talks to him, while he's in bed with Art's sister, then he’s soooooo relived when he hangs up the phone and the conversation is finally over. I don’t know if anyone caught on to it, but it was basically a “bro code” scene. I can't explain it without sounding crude, so I apologize for that in advance, but the “bro code” translation of what transpired was:
Fernando: So dude, about your sister...
Arturo: Yeah dude, my sister...WTF?
Fernando: Well, I just wanted to tell you, as a bro, that I’m going to be doing certain...uh...”things” – on a regular basis – and your sister is going to be there
Arturo: Gross dude, that’s my SISTER... geesh!
Fernando: Hey man, I love her; I’ll be good to her.
Arturo: And if you don’t, I will HUNT YOU DOWN and –
Fernando: Got it.
Fernando: So we’re cool then?
Arturo: yeah man, whatever
Fernando to Luisa: Ok we can do it now.
Regarding Mariano and Aurora, I never thought I’d see the day when those two would appear to be headed towards getting together. I’m still skeptical though, and will believe it only when I see it.
I didn’t understand the storyline about Gema and Johnny and why it is such a big deal that she has to say she loaned money to Johnny interest free. I wonder why Mariano cares?

Jardinera- I loved this recap, and the commentary on those jammie bottoms and the towel scene. How could Teresa resist?! Well, it seems that her resistance is starting to break down. The melt moment for me was when Art started gently caressing Ter's bare leg, asking if she wanted to talk (yeah, right) when she came to him on the couch.
I don't think what Teresa is starting to feel is love (yet), but I think she is starting to feel affection and starting looking at Art as a person (not just a target) and know him better. However, with a better understanding of him, she'll be better able to manipulate him too...

Aida needs to face the consequences of her actions. I give her NO pass this time. I was more undersatnding when she threw the amonia at Ter after Paulo's death. There is no way that Mar would start a relationship back up with her now.
Once again I am amazed that someone from the vecinidad would prefer to borrow money from Genma (sky high interest and no mercy) or Fito (known dirty money) over one of the many rich, kind friends they have. Aurora, Hernan, Hector, Luisa, Martin (if he were in town). They have known all these people for a while now. They are true friends. They would expect nothing in return, not even gratitude. I noticed Hernan tried to be serious and professional with Espe at first because of what Johnny said (Espe not wanting to be beholden to another man), but that flew out the window with this latest scare. I'm glad, because Espe needs all the love and support she can get right now. So Johnny would rather be beholden to shady Fito than to upright Hernan? Makes sense...in an alternate universe.

For some reason I think Aida has a kernel of goodness within her being, but it is hidden under of the feelings of social privilege; I hope she is redeemed in the end, but presently she has a very hard climb up that road. I was glad that she seemed genuinely afraid for Espe when she fell over in pain, at least she went for help at that point. I don't know, in real life the Aida's of the world seldom change.....but this is a NOVELA, there is hope!!!!
The only thing about worries me about Mar and Aurora is that is just too soon novela time for them to get together. Oh dear, how much more "unrequited love" will our saintly Aurora have to endure.....

Gema has caused so much trouble in the neighborhood, she even repossessed Armando and Refugio's furniture at one point. Everyone KNOWS that with her, there is no free lunch. I'm not entirely sure what she is up to, but surely it is a big trap for our "Teresa" mensa representative, Johnny.
The Reina/ Fito scene was funny, he had her at hello.....and a bag of cookies!!!!! Whatever Fito is up to it can't be good. The actor playing that part is doing such a super fun/hammy/realistic job with it....sorta like the cutie-pie, scary drug dealer.
"Aida needs to face the consequences of her actions. I give her NO pass this time." I agree Vivi, she was all but trying to harm the baby. For some reason I think Aida has a kernel of goodness within her being, but it is hidden under of the feelings of social privilege; I hope she is redeemed in the end, but presently she has a very hard climb up that road. I was glad that she seemed genuinely afraid for Espe when she fell over in pain, at least she went for help at that point. I don't know, in real life the Aida's of the world seldom change.....but this is a NOVELA, there is hope!!!!
The only thing about worries me about Mar and Aurora is that is just too soon novela time for them to get together. Oh dear, how much more "unrequited love" will our saintly Aurora have to endure.....

Gema has caused so much trouble in the neighborhood, she even repossessed Armando and Refugio's furniture at one point. Everyone KNOWS that with her, there is no free lunch. I love this recap Jardinera. Teresa is falling for hottie Arturo. What the hell is she waiting for. Here he is standing there in all his hawtness ready to take it to the next level and she needs to think about it. If it was me, I would've jumped him right then and there. That kiss at the end though. Yowza. I think that's the first time she really kissed him and liked it. Can't wait to see what happens tonight.

(I must stop, or I will need CPR) Did you all catch Teresa's face as he walked out of the room? She had her own OMG moment, and a "what the h*ll am I passing on" look. I think the towel thing is what pushed her over to Art's side and prompted the visit to the sofa.
Well, nothing else to comment on, the Art & Teresa Spain scenes were all that interested me last night. Too many FF of everything else for me. Can not wait for tonight. But Univision will probably chop out good parts of a Ter/Art love scene!

It looks like Teresa is really trying to make her marriage work and not for what she can get out of it. I agree she is now seeing Arturo as a good man and one who really does love and care for her. So i believe she is trying not saying she is falling in love with him but she is a woman who is being moved by his actions and he is endearing himself more and more to her. Also it seems she is appreciating how handsome he looks in his jammies and nothing but a towel hanging off his hips in just the right suggestive manner way. I mean what woman in her right mind wouldn't?
Fito could he be drugging Reina with his cookies offerings?

Without a doubt self centered Aeeeeeeeda did that on purpose to harm Espe and her child she after all has already said she wished the baby would die. I so want this to be the end for her with Mariano but like with Teresa the writers had Mariano forgive her even after she got engaged to Arturo he still wanted to be with her.
While i hope this is the end for their relationship bring on Aurora as the two look like they are ready to give into their true feelings for each other. These writers might surprise us again but i hope not.

Fun stuff, Jardinera, and a great title. Sharkbyte, fun stuff, too, and I am looking forward to Wed.
Well, I have had my complete fill of Aeeeeda so I can imagine what life has been like for Tere. She had to put up with Aeeeda's vicious mouth and actions for over 8 years or so (highschool and college.) I can see how she warped Teresa's personality toward wanting to up herself one better than Aeeeda. Of course, Tere could have chosen the honest way through her hard work as she has but without the screwing over people part. Actually, Aeeeda's lucky no one has pressed charges against her for bodily harm. Oh, I'd love to see her share a cell in jail with some lowlifes.
I wish that if Johnny can't disappear like Buttberto (haha) that he would just stop scratching his head.
Tonight should be good. It looks like Art may be melting Tere's cold little heart. I hope so. How can she resist this beautiful devoted hunk!

Just one more thing. As Sandy mentions, it was just plain funny/sad how excited Reina was over receiving those cookies from Fito...saying a lot about her life. As mentioned, this guy is pretty astute and has something planned and maybe Reina will be part of Tere's eventual downfall which is what I assume will happen to Tere. Love how Fito plays his part so cool but menacing.

I think Teresa has been having feelings for Arturo for a while. Lets remember how she felt when he kissed her a few episodes ago and how hurt she was that he had slept with Paloma. She may not love him, but she is finally waking up to the fact that she can be happy in the life she chose because those feelings will allow her to be and instead of hurting from not being with Mariano she can just enjoy what she has with Arturo.
As for Johnny, I think he is a little stupid. What I understand is that he feels more comfortable with Fito because he knows him, or at least he thinks he does.
