Alborada, 8/15/2011. Cap. 54.

Today's episode is covered in Melinama's Recap #20, Tuesday segment, at this link.

On YouTube, haguilar78's clips for Cap 54 start at this link.

Thank you, Carlos, for today's picture. If we can't have a Luis/Hipo embrace, at least we get a Luis/Diego "embrace"!

Paula's caption: Don't make me tell you again! If we dance, I get to lead!

Great Paula y Carlos,
Why is Diego stupid enough to tangle with Luis, he is always on the losing end. One of the reasons he hates him, in addition to his & Juana's charade.

Thanks Paula and Carlos. Great image choice and I absolutely love the caption today. Yes Diego and Luis would tear each toehr to shreds if allowed. I love how they have Diego alway, always rise to the bait. It shows his insecurity both physically and with his pretended position. It reminds me of thei Eugene Fields poem The Duel from my childhoon.
"But the gingham dog and the calico cat
Wallowed this way and tumbled that,
Employing every tooth and claw
In the awfullest way you ever saw---
And, oh! how the gingham and calico flew!
(Don't fancy I exaggerate---
I got my news from the Chinese plate!)

Heck. I came home and settled in to watch today's episode and found an entire episode of Hasta que la Plata Nos Separe recorded instead. Did this happen to anyone else? The settings weren't changed and the TIVO page indicated Alborado. I've set my TIVO to record 5 extra minutes and Alborado came on after HqlPNS.

Oh well, I have some idea of what happened by my search for pictures.

Carlos

Carlos,
It came on the regular time here, 1PM EST.

Carlos, my dishnetwork schedule said the two programs were reversed but here in mountain time the appreared as usual. I don't know if it means they will be reversed tomorrow or the schedule for today was screwed up.

Carlos: It was on at noon in Houston (Comcast) as usual.

Did you get rain over the weekend?

Rosemary

Rosemary, We did get a little rain yesterday... very little... but lots of thunder and lightning. We use DirecTV and like I said, even though it was the other show, it indicated that it was Alborado.

I'm guessing that DirecTV somehow managed to screw things up. I'm setting the TIVO to record the following hour tomorrow just in case.

Carlos

Oh man, I was out of town since Friday morning, watched Friday's episode late last night and just sat down to watch Monday's this morning...instead of Hipolita there was some blonde with her neck in a brace! Bummer. I'm going to set my Tivo to extend an hour today just in case.

Well anyway, Friday's screen capture was excellent and I enjoyed the discussion that went along with it.

Today's is great too. I'll comment some more after I watch the episode thanks to Paula's links.

Carlos- How was the original HQLPNS compared to our HQEDNS from the bit you saw?

I can't believe that Antonio continues to throw his lot in with Diego after seeing how truly slimy and incompetent Diego is. Even his friend has backed off.

I LOL when Diego asked Antonio to come back to the palace for an "encounter"...knocking swords. After his encounter knocking boots with Perla, I am more confused than ever about Antonio's inclinations.

Vivi, I only watched a few minutes of HQLPNS but I can tell you that I liked our main pair much better. I also recorded la Hija del Mariachi yesterday and really enjoyed the first episode. The music was fantastic. I didn't recognize Alonzo (TdA) as Emiliano and thought,"wow, this guy can sing." but Pasofino says that it's not him singing.

Sylvia, I see that you had a similar experience. WTF happened?

Carlos

Carlos, I dunno. I'm sure Tivo recorded at the proper time so I think the station switched times. I'm working a temp job right now so I don't have the luxury of tuning in to see. I'm going to record Alborada at the regular time, as the station advertises, and extend it an hour.

There goes our Hipolita, looking for work again. That lady doesn't shy away from trying to fend for herself.

Vivi, I too am surprised that Antonio is still hanging out with Diego. Maybe he feels he has to because they are partners in the vanilla plantation?

Carlos or anyone, when does La hija del mariachi play? What station? I want to record it.

Picture and caption are perfect. It's a good thing I didn't have a mouthful of coffee. I'm still laughing.

From watching Diego do his mincing and prancing, I can't help but think that he is more efeminado than Antonio. And Antonio seems to be getting over it pretty well with Perla's ministrations. And, having Diego describe Toni's feelings for Hipolita as something one would have for a sister bugged him.

I agree with Sylvia re Antonio hanging out with Diego. The investment in the vanilla plantation is important. I think he has seen how volatile Diego can be with business affairs and he doesn't want to risk losing the investment.

Furthermore, there aren't too many eligible men (as in his social level) to fraternize with in Cuencas. His BBF Rodrigo left. He doesn't trust Luis after all the garbage he's been fed--and the fact that he boinked his wife (regardless of the circumstances)and it bugs him that Luis still wants Hipo. Don Francisco is too old and everyone else is either a servant or on Team Luis.
