Alborada, 8/31/2011. Cap. 66.

Today's episode is covered in Melinama's Recap #25, Thuresday segment, at this link.

On YouTube, haguilar78's clips for Cap 66 start at this link.

Thank you, Carlos, for today's picture. You picked a good way to capture the essence of Esperanza's death.

I hope things go well for Mirtha, she is a very devoted servant (slave). Maybe she & Vicente can get sth going.

Jessica Coch sighting! Perla's prostituta friend in Alborada, back-stabbing slutty sister in CME.

Such a sad picture. I get the feeling that Mirtha really cared for Esperanza at some level. I wish the best for her too.

I read Melinama's original recap and I love her last sentence: "[Juana] may have heart failure and cancer of the uterus, but she's not too sick to lie lie lie." Amen to that!

Thanks Paula and Carlos.

That scene was so sad, I can't even bring myself to suggest a caption for the picture. (A lot of silly ones come to mind, though.)

Say, does Antonio know that Perla used to be Luis's #1 girl?

It's just kind of funny that he keeps wanting Luis's leftovers.

Julie, I know what you mean. How sad was Esperanza? Well, the disgraces continued even past her death. The poor little loca was shunned from the consecrated cemetery.

Yes, she's mentioned to him a couple of times that Luis was her "protector". I even think she told him Luis gave her the house.

You're right, in fact she even mentions it again in today's episode (I hadn't finished watching it yet!).

Today's caption: "No puede ser!"

I really felt for Mirtha this episode. We've spoken about how much it sucked to be a woman in those days (e.g. Hip, Asuncion, Perla, Marina), and to be a servant (all of Diego's servants). Mirtha is at the very bottom of her world's totem pole- a woman, black, and a slave. Only Vicente seems to have any concern for what will happen to her. I usually pay no attention to what Francisco says, but on this score he is correct-- there are vastly different kinds of "punishment" for the rich and powerful for the same "crimes." When you look at it this way, you can't really blame the guy for trying to accumulate wealth and power.

Even today, justice is different for the rich & the poor.
All those people that have been cleared by DNA after spending years in prison, bet none of them are rich.

Francisco - no, I don't blame him for trying to accumulate wealth and power. But he's so stupid in how he goes about it. He has no interest in EARNING it. He's so openly crass about it, he's lucky people don't laugh in his face and tell him to get lost. (Which I assume they eventually will.)

Thanks for the posting and the photo. It reminded me that at least one person will really miss Esperanza even though she was often rotten to her. Esperanza was so deluded and so shallow she was hard to sympathize with. Mirtha did really try to help her and be a good companion and servant. I hope Luis does act kindly toward her.
