Teresa Wed 8/3/11 #108 Johnny Attacked; Shark Harpooned; Film at 11

REPRISE
Outside Fernando's penthouse, Johnny is in the hallway and catches Teresa kissing Fernando goodbye outside his door.

At the hospital, Martin and Aurora are about to go out to dinner. Martin created a new dessert in her honor. Martin tells her that Hector and Juana are joining them. Martin says he wants to include one of Juana’s recipes at his restaurant. Juana jokes that she will allow it if the restaurant follows the recipe to the letter.

Juana asks Aurora if she has talked to Teresa lately and hints that life has taken a bad twist for her.

Back in the hallway by Fernando’s penthouse, Teresa explains that Fernando is her sister-in-law’s boyfriend and they were just planning a wedding surprise for her. Just then Arturo arrives. Teresa pretends she just got their also, and makes some small talk with Arturo about Johnny staying with Mariano and confirms someone from their office will help Johnny with his case. Arturo is glad Johnny reported that crook, Fito. Arturo is there to tell Luisa what happened [with the Saenz case]. Teresa pretends she wants to “be there” for Arturo in this difficult time and they go on to Fernando’s penthouse. Fernando is surprised to see them; Teresa for the second time. Johnny thinks this whole scene is weird, but appears to mind his own business.

ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Esperanza feels her baby Rodrigo kicking and wishes Hernan was there to feel it too.
Just then, Hernan is at the door, carrying a single white rose. Hernan read her letter, and asks Esperanza if she really meant it when she said she loved him. She says it’s true. Hernan says he loves her too, and the baby.

Esperanza is very happy to be with Hernan and she felt really bad when he left. Hernan says he jumped to conclusions. Esperanza is glad that he is giving her another chance, and Hernan agrees that if he hadn’t, he would have regretted it forever.

FERNANDO'S PENTHOUSE
Arturo tells Fernando that he is totally bankrupt. Fernando says that Arturo has his support. Oriana and Luisa enter and right away Oriana spots Teresa and gives her the super-evil stink-eye with a cherry on top. Oriana suspiciously asks Fernando if he invited Teresa over to talk. Teresa, exacerbated, chimes in “please do not say anything Oriana, I am here for another matter; I came to accompany my husband.”

Arturo recounts how he originally asked for a prenuptial agreement, and Oriana said it wasn’t necessary. Well now, Arturo explains, his circumstances have changed. He’s broke.

Fernando offers a loan but Arturo declines and says he already declined a similar offer from Martin. Arturo will use his own capital and sell his house. Oriana snarls and asks Teresa what she thinks about that. Teresa is surprised, but says she will stand by her man. Arturo informs them he already put the house up for sale.

Fernando and Luisa take Arturo aside to try to convince him to take a loan, leaving Oriana and Teresa to spar. Oriana jabs at Teresa about all of this, but Teresa says she already told her husband her love is unconditional; if things are bad, they’ll just start again. Oriana says that’s the least she can do you, as the reason Arturo won’t take a loan from her or Fernando is that Arturo had a fight with her about Teresa and it’s such a shame to lose the house. Teresa says, “Not that I want to blame everything on me, but Arthur is right to be dignified and not accept money from someone who offended [his wife].”

Oriana then rubs her class distinction nonsense in Teresa’s face by saying that if Arthur had married someone like Aida he would not be suffering because Mayra would support him, but Teresa’s parents can’t lend him a penny. She snarls that our little Shark Princess will be just an ordinary Cinderella (cenicienta).

MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Johnny and Patty are in Mariano’s apartment doing a little cleaning when our favorite Mariachi buffoon, Crapberto, who is supposed to be substituting for Johnny at the vecindad, walks in and explains that the residents at the vecindad don’t have running water and he may have forgot to take out the trash. Johnny is appalled. Curdberto scratches himself as if to prove the old adage about men: if it itches, we scratch it, no matter the timing or how weird/gross the scratch.

ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Johnny shows up at Esperanza’s house and she asks him what he’s doing there; did the police catch Fito? Johnny says no, but that Esperanza wasn’t straight with him and he knows Dumberto is doing everything wrong.

Johnny says he has to take care of things or he may lose his job and the owner may run him out of his apartment. Esperanza worries that Johnny will be in danger, but he assures her he’ll be fine.
Elsewhere, Fito receives a call from an informant that Johnny has been spotted at the vecindad. Fito tells him to stay there and keep an eye on him.

GENOVEVA'S HOUSE
Aida screeches into Geno’s house. Geno says she’s got some hot gossip she just had to tell her in person: Arturo is having big money problems and asked Geno to help sell his house! Aida is beside herself with glee and laughing maniacally says, “So Teresa is a pauper AGAIN!!!

BARERRA HOUSE
Teresa and Arturo are arriving and Teresa asks Arturo if it is true that if he had not had a fight with Oriana about Teresa, that he would have accepted a loan from her. Arturo says that’s probably true. So Teresa concludes that Arturo is losing the house because of her. Arturo says he doesn’t care about that because Teresa means more to him than any fortune. Teresa proclaims her love for him as Arturo promises he will bounce back from this and give her everything she deserves.

GENOVEVA'S HOUSE
Geno and Aida continue to revel in Teresa’s bad fortune. They talk about how Arturo hoped to sell his Turquoise Moon condominiums but since that’s not possible, he had to find another way to deal with his debts. They feel bad for Arturo because he is a good person, but are glad that Teresa is having a bad time as she only married Arturo for his money. They point out the irony that Teresa had such contempt for poor people, such as when Mariano was poor, but now Mariano’s star is rising and Arturo’s is falling.

FERNANDO'S PENTHOUSE
Luisa tells Oriana she appreciates the affection and acceptance that she has given her, especially in light of how things went the last time her brother and Teresa were there. She assures Oriana that even though she doesn’t have as much money as before, she will still be a good wife. Oriana says she can separate one thing from another and she still likes Luisa, and the good news is that the scandal is about Saenz and not Arturo. He just had the misfortune of the financial guarantee but Arturo did nothing wrong. Oriana reiterates her support of Luisa and thinks she will be a great daughter-in-law. Oriana is also glad she is around Fernando because if she weren’t some social climber would probably come along and try to conquer him. She obviously is referring to Teresa.

BARERRA HOUSE
Juana sympathizes with Teresa about the news of Arturo’s bankruptcy and says she already told Aurora and Hector. She points out that maybe Teresa won’t be a millionaire traveling to Paris every year, but she’ll have everything she needs and even a few luxuries. Teresa thinks it’s horrible and she didn’t want anyone to know, but now pretty much everyone knows.

Aurora then enters and offers her condolences. Teresa says Aurora doesn’t know what it is like being poor. Aurora tries to point out the silver lining about Arturo being able to overcome this and how they have each other. She then asks if Teresa is thinking about giving up on her marriage since, well, lots of people think she just married for money. Teresa says (with a straight face no less) that for the thousandth time, she married for love not for money; as her nose starts to grow.

Aurora tells her that Mariano took an x-ray of Armando and that he didn’t have a fracture, just a painful wound, but he’ll recover. She said the real problem is that Armando is very depressed, feels guilty, and feels he made her look bad in front of her husband. Teresa said she hasn’t talked to him because his cell phone was also stolen, but she’ll stop by and see him today.

MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Mariano comes in and Patty says she is worried that Johnny hasn’t come back yet. Mariano says not to worry; Johnny is probably just helping a neighbor. Patty says she hopes that’s all it is because Johnny was concerned about the lousy job Dumberto El Mariachi Buffoon was doing and hopefully he didn’t wander out to the vecindad.

ESPERANZA’S APARTMENT
Johnny is useful for once and makes a delicious snack of quesadillas, and lots of them since Esperanza is eating for two. Johnny then excuses himself and says he needs to get back since he didn’t tell Patty where he was going.

As Johnny walks out, Fito and an accomplice put on cheap ski masks and confront Johnny. Fito’s accomplice grabs Johnny from behind and applies the old “Full Nelson” (a cheesy wrestling hold that a 9 year old could get out of). As Fito pulls out his gun, he says that Johnny betrayed him, then whacks him across the head. They proceed to drag him off camera and beat Johnny’s semi-functional brains out.

GENO’s HOUSE
Geno and Aida take their maniacal glee to the next level and break out the champagne to celebrate Teresa’s misfortune. Geno comments that she knows Teresa had something to do with Paulo’s death. Aida picks up a picture of Paulo and says to his image that what happened to Teresa is partial justice for what happened to him and they clink their glasses in a toast to Teresa’s suffering. Just then Mayra joins the party and says she just got back from the therapist. She’s starting to realize that she needs to forgive Ruben. Of course Geno the duplicitous gata approves, and Aida also agrees with forgiving Ruben. However, Mayra says she is still moving forward with the divorce.

CHAVES HOUSE
Refugio greets Teresa at her house and says Armando’s x-ray came out ok, but Armando left to go to the Barrera home. Refugio asks if they were able to settle the matter of the papers that were lost. Teresa snarls and says no, Arturo will lose all of his money for that. Refugio says she is sure that Arturo, a lawyer, is not really going to be out of money and that he is very intelligent, good at business and will bounce back. Teresa doesn’t really want to discuss it. Refugio reminds her that she has to stay with Arturo during this rough time because she “swore before God to be together in good times and bad, wealth and poverty.” To which Teresa quips, “I’d rather be dead than go back to being poor.” Refugio replies, “What did you say?” Teresa says, “Nothing, I’m leaving” as she scurries off like a RRRRRRata.

BARRERA HOUSE
Back at the Barrera home, Armando hands over his resignation and his keys to Arturo. Arturo asks him not to quit, but Armando insists, as he is mortified and embarrassed by what happened and asks Arturo for his forgiveness.

VECINDAD
Too-Hot Patty and Mariano arrive at the vecindad looking for Johnny. They spot Johnny who is badly hurt, bleeding, and can’t walk. They rush over to help him and Patty has a conniption fit. They ask Johnny what happened, but he is badly beaten and can't respond intelligibly (even more than usual).

Elsewhere at the vecindad, as Teresa is going back to her car, Aida spots her and asks if she is returning to the vecindad because Arturo is ruined. Teresa tells her to shutup; it’s a temporary situation and they will recover. Aida says Teresa really brought bad luck to her husband, and she sees that her house is for sale. Aida says maybe she’ll buy her house and live there with Mariano. Teresa replies, “For starters, Mariano would not accept to move into a house that you have purchased and anyway you wouldn’t be as happy there as Arturo and me.” Aida says she still may buy her house anyway just to demonstrate who is left standing in the end.

JOHNNY'S APARTMENT
Johnny is back at his apartment and in pain. Mariano is bandaging his wounds and Magda is assisting. Johnny doesn’t want anyone telling Esperanza about his injuries. Patty says this is why she wanted dumbass Johnny to stay at Mariano’s apartment; not because they are freeloading, but because they really were in danger.

BARRERA HOUSE
Teresa sits on her stairwell in the dark, thinking about the bad times that have befallen her. Her cellphone rings and it’s Fito calling. Teresa tells him that he does not even know how much she hates him. Fito asks if she wants the other half of the papers he got from her dad. She replies, “Idiot. Because of you Arturo lost an important trial and now we’re broke.” Fito thinks she is making up a story and asks for more money. Teresa angrily says she has no more money to give and doesn’t want to know him and abruptly hangs up. Fito laughs it off; just another day at the office for the Fito Bandito.

FERNANDO'S PENTHOUSE
Luisa is sleeping on the couch. Fernando leans over and tells her it’s time to go to bed. Just then he flashes back to the time Teresa slept on his couch. Yes Fernando, her body looked mighty fine in that shirt, mighty fine indeed.

BARRERA HOUSE
Back at the Barrera house, Arturo and Teresa are in bed asleep, when Teresa starts having a shark nightmare. Teresa dreams she is back in the vecindad, poor. She is walking down the sidewalk when her mom gives her a sweater, but Teresa grimaces and doesn’t like it; it isn’t Kashmir after all.
Arturo is washing a taxi and stops to tell her not to worry; someday they’ll leave the poor neighborhood and pay back her parents.

Tiburoncita is horrified and wakes up with her shark teeth snapping, “I can’t go back to being poor. I can’t, I can’t.”

NEXT DAY AT CHAVES HOUSE
Armando laments about the need to find another job, and that it will be difficult because no one wants to hire an old man. He continues to blame himself for losing the papers and Refugio points out he was mugged which was different, and no one could have avoided that.

BARRERA HOUSE
As Teresa opens a box containing jewelry her phone rings and it’s Fito Bandito. He says what happened to Johnny was just a warning. He says to take a good look at her best friend’s brother, and give him more money. Teresa says she was serious; Arturo has no more money and they have to sell their house, all because of Fito. Of course Fito says he is not to blame for her husband losing the trial because he would not have assaulted Armando if she had given him money when he asked for it before. Anyway, he says he doesn’t believe they are out of money.

MARIANO'S APARTMENT
Aida, still basking in the glow of Teresa’s misfortune, tells Mariano all about it. Even though Teresa was in Mariano’s past, he is not amused that Aida is making fun of what happened to Teresa. Aida can’t believe he is still defending her. Mariano tells her to calm down and reminds her they are trying to make their relationship work. Aida tells him not to be angry with her and starts getting kissy-kissy and that seems to put Mariano in a better mood.

BARRERA HOUSE
Arturo walks in solemnly, crying, and sits on the stairs. Teresa walks in and asks what’s wrong. Arturo says the stress of losing the case caused Saenz to lose his mind. Saenz committed suicide. Through his uncontrolled crying he gasps, “Teresa, Saenz is dead!”
Arturo is grief stricken and blames himself for losing the case. He laments for Saenz’s wife that she lost her husband and that his children will now grow up without their father. Teresa tries to console him and Arturo says that Teresa is the stabilizing force in his life and that she alone sustains him.

JUANA’S APARTMENT
Creepberto walks in and starts talking about Johnny getting hurt by Fito, but Juana hits him and tells him to be quiet so Esperanza doesn’t overhear. She says she told Esperanza that Johnny got home ok; and Johnny only got hurt because Curdberto has crap for brains and did a lousy job filling in for Johnny. Scumberto then shares buffoonish banter and stares at Juana’s cleavage.

BARRERA HOME
Teresa tells Arturo he’s got to be strong and they profess their love for each other. Teresa suggests they have some coffee and get to work.

Arturo is sitting on the couch when the maid tells him that Saenz’s wife is there to see him. As Margaret Saenz enters, Arturo walks toward her saying he’s sorry about her husband. She starts screaming at Arturo, blaming him for Saenz’s death. She rhetorically asks what is she going to tell her children. Teresa comes in and tells her to calm down.

Margaret says “No I will not calm down, I will not calm down!” She then pulls out a revolver, Teresa runs behind Arturo, Margaret says that she has lost everything, and that Arturo will not continue to live. Teresa then gets between Arturo and Margaret and struggles to take the gun away from her. She says, “No, please understand that my husband went to great lengths to win the case, lady!” Margaret says, “If you had stayed in Europe he would not have lost the case, he would be alive!”

Two gunshots ring out, but just who shot who? Has our shark been harpooned? Tune in next time, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

...and now you know what happened in episode 108.

Sharkbyte...BIEN HECHO!!! Wonderful and most appropriate fotos, too! Gracias!! Muchas gracias. :))

Who would have seen this coming?! Who?! When Art stumbled in the door in such utter distress, I absolutely had no idea what had transpired. I was completely caught by surprise with this revelation and even more surprised when Wife Saenz stormed in the door!

Vaya! I am stunned, but the suspense is getting good. Who took that bullet? WHO?!

Odiosa Oriana was really odiosa with her words last night. She is a piece of work, but Tiny Terror didn't blink an eye in that stare down.

I can't decide whether or not Teresa is finally feeling something for dear Art. Is she telling the truth when she says she will stick with him through think and thin? I honestly don't know.

Aida is going to lose Mariano. She is pushing it too far. Who is going to have the last laugh when Mayra and Aida find out what their dear friend Flash Back to the 80s Geno has done to them? Who will be laughing then?

Aida's hatred (I really do think it is hatred, not just dislike) of Teresa is an illness now. With her comments last night to Mariano, she has just widened the gap between them. She still thinks she will change Mariano to what she wants him to be not once realising he is his own man.

I feel such sadness for Art. Sebastian has done a fab job...just fab. I wish he had won the Premio instead of 'my' Colunga. I really think Sebastian earned it in this role.

Gracias, Sharkbyte!!

Susanita

Woo! What an ending! I'm voting, by looking at all the expressions a couple times that our little vixen took the shots. What a game changer that would be. Thanks Sharkbyte for a great recap (as always).

Yeah, I agree that Aida is really pushing it with Mari. Sure the little kisses work now, but if she doesn't can it, he's going to implode. I mean how many times does he have to tell her to lay off? and he always feeds her that line about "getting to know each other". "Warning, warning Will Robinson!!!!!"

I wish Cutjerko would go back to whatever pueblo he had been at. His antics and buffoonery are just becoming a joke. How in the world could the writers ever think it makes sense to put this nin-com-poop with Juana?

Can't watch tonight, argh!, but I"ll be checking in with our recappers and watching the episode over the weekend. Can't wait to read what happens!

Sharkbye- Another winner of a recap. And great photos too.

Yes, I think Teresa started to feel something for Art in Europe, and that has continued since they returned home. Is it love? I don't think so. But it is affection, which she did not feel before Europe. But the person Teresa loves far above anyone else is Teresa. And she is always looking out for #1. And if Teresa wants to live the life of a queen, then Teresa will do anything to provide that.

She now has two problems. The first being that she does now feel something for Art. The second problem is that she really cares about what people say and think of her. Now everyone is coming at her saying this is the time to prove that she really married Art for love and not money. How can she possibly leave Art and go after someone else without looking like a cold hearted gold digger?

Well, I think her taking a bullet for Art will forever silence a lot of people about that. Art, Luisa, Aurora and others will have no doubt of her love for Art after that act. She will find some way to use this to her advantage, just wait and see. I don't think she took the bullet on prupose. I think she impulsively jumped in to defend Art. And that's wonderful. But I know she will use this for all it's worth.

I really wish Cutberto would mature to at least make him a viable candidate for Juana. As cute and fun as he is sometimes, if I were Juana, the bloom would have been off that rose a long time ago. I mean, how much older than Johnny is he? And he can't even manage to manage the vecinidad correctly for a week? Even when his friend's livelihood and LIFE depended on it?!

Sharkbyte, great recap. As usual you have picked the best shots. Love your creative use of Goofberto nicknames. Loved your wrestling information, "even a child could get out of" LOL!

Those were quesadillas??

I really thought that a glimmer of light was entering Johnny's brain when he saw Tere kissing Fer, and that he suspected she was up to no good no matter what her lame explanation was. She had a "yikes that was close" look on her face, so she must think Johnny just fell off the turnip truck.

As far as Tere now caring for Art, the scene with Fer is exhibit A against that theory, so I agree with Vivi, Tere is currently #1 with Tere.

Can't wait to see if she actually got grazed with the bullet or this is a complete miss in tonight's episode. She will totally milk this.

Sharkbyte you were ona roll hilarious roll with this recap thank you.

I love what you said about Johnny once Super Mariano and your hot Paty saw him him not being able to speak intelligibly even more than he normally does.Haha good one:)

MFB is another dumba$$ he's going to realize that the well has dried up.

Why do we have to put up with overgrown doofus frat boy in Goofberto. What in the world is so attractive about him to Juana? So he may look younger but he as stupid as Johnny is. he's worst because he is way older than Johnny and should know better how to act.

I believe Teresa does love Arturo in her own special way but not on the level like she loved Mariano.I wouldn't call throwing oneself in front of person holding a gun and struggling to take it away from them impulsive. I really didn't expect this type of action from Teresa knowing how she is so this threw me for a loop. But deep down it does to me show that she cares deeply for Arturo so of course she's going to milk it for what it's worth.

Three things are going to cause Teresa to betray Arturo. First one being Teresa like others have said it's all about her so she is number one and that's the person she loves the most herself.

Number two poverty Teresa vow to never return to poverty will be her incentive to make her move on Fernando. Along with Number three.

Number three once again Odiosa Oriana was pushing Teresa buttons last night and was i the only one who saw the steam coming out of Teresa's ears.Revenge will be her third motivation for Odiosa Oriana's continued insults.

Vivi you're right Teresa does care what others think about her but those other three reasons. Herself, poverty and revenge are going to make her not care what others say or think as she makes her move.

Loved the recap and the pictures!
I know Teresa is not a murderer but she's going to have to silence Fito somehow and now she can't do it with money. I doubt she would sleep with him, so that leaves murder. Does anyone else think that is a possibility? Unless she hooks up with Fer first and uses his money.
I feel sorry for Fer. He's in LUST with his BFF's wife and it' s driving him nuts.
And poor Arturo, Ter has brought him terrible luck!
Mariano has to dump Aeeeeeeda. She's just too obnoxious. Although I prefer Martin for Aurora. He is fun,
nice, level headed, cooks, and let's not forget RICH, which never hurts. Mariano will always yearn for Ter, I wouldn't want to be married to someone always thinking about what could have been with his X.

I got a lot off my chest today.
Chuchi

Susanita i have been saying this about Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeda for awhile she is sick and twisted. That is truly hatred when someone is so consumed by another person that are so watchful and need to know the latest update about that person. Then gloat chortled about their ruin as if telling a little joke.

What's sad is that all three men who have been the most important in Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeda's life have all told her the same thing give it a rest and leave her alone.

Ruben her father, Paulo her now deceased fiance and now current boyfriend Mariano. All three have at one time got to the point where Mariano did with her last night and she still does not get it.

I'm so over this relationship and i am now counting the episodes to when Mariano is going to dump her.I hope its' either tonight or Friday but i at least hope by the end of next week this relationship is over.

I can't wait for the final shoe to drop on Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeda learning that Geno her almost mother in law is her father's other lover.

Emarie, yes I think those were quesadillas of the fried variety. I've made fried quesadillas before (although I don't usually fold them over, I leave them flat), and I also had them once in Mexico. They are quite delicious.

ITA that Johnny fell off the turnip truck - and probably bounced on his head several times. That would explain a lot :^)

Ladies, as I was adding the pictures to the recap for this week (and by the way, you're welcome for the picture of Art in the tight tank top in Tere's dream sequence), I noticed a lot of the guys in this novela have a persistent 5 o'clock shadow. In my opinion, they should shave or grow an actual beard.

I know some guys think the fuzzy "almost beard" look is cool, but I think it's a little juvenile and very 1990's. I've had it myself a few times and usually got complaints from lady friends that it was itchy against their skin. I'm curious to hear what the ladies on this blog think about it.

Also, it seems like Mariano's hair is really greasy. I could never bring myself to put that much hair product in my hair, especially on a daily basis, no way. Do ladies these days really like that sort of thing?

Surely the TN writers would not kill off Arturo! He’s too good looking. But if they do, it opens the door for Teresa to make a bigger move on Fernando. She’ll need his money to maintain her lifestyle.

Didn’t someone say a while back, that in TN world, if a couple marries in church, they will not divorce? But Tere might become a widow, and that would open up all sorts of interesting possibilities.

The business about throwing herself in front of Arturo to get the gun … I think she loves him in her way … she’s not a truly bad person … but she’s the type of woman who thrives on getting attention from men … she like an addict getting a hit … I had a friend like that … it was a game for her … and it didn’t really matter whether the man was attractive or was seeing someone else.

Loved Mariano’s expressions when Aida was trying to cuddle up to him. She’s on the way out.

ITA with you, Chuchi, that Fer is in trouble-he lusts after Tere, and cares about Luisa, but she doesn't do it to him anywhere near as much, and the guilt is just eating him up.

ITA, Sharkbyte, the fuzzy face look is out. Especially Martin who is actually good looking except for the fuzz on his face that is a different color than his hair which makes him look like Barney Rubble.

I am a little puzzled at the continued conviction and investment in the concept that Tere actually loves Art deep inside...? I think if she does care about him it is only an occasional twinge for her. She ranted and raved the night before about "I gave up my only love for this?" Clearly talking about Mariano. And, she threw the big Teddy Bear to the ground...Exhibit B.

Aleta, I have known women like that too...

Fuzz on the face - one of the worst fads that's out there. There's not that many guys that pull it off without looking like they forgot to wash, and you're correct on the other supposition. With most, it can be almost to rub against that shadow.

Don't see it as much in the young Hollywood studs, but in fashion mags it's still prevalent with some designers. And it seems to run rampant in the the TN's with the younger galans.

Getting tired it.

Meant to say, it can be painful to run against. Something along the lines of rug-burn for us gals!

Sharkbyte no and definitely big no. I don't liek the five 0'clock look got very annoyed that all of the good looking guys on TDA had this look. So Miami Vice been there don't feel like going back there. Greasy hair products overload oh boy is he Mr. Oil slick i for one don't feel like running my fingers through that mess.

If i want greasy fingers it better be from some darn good fried chicken. But hair heck no not into that look. I don't know why the stylist insisted upon this look for Aaron but it doesn't do it for me. What he does have a killer body and knows how to kiss.

Oh by the way thanks for the Arturo in his tank top picture it was needed to ahem explain the crucial plot point in that scene. Really really necessary.

I vote NO for hairy faces and greasy hair. I would not touch that hair either.

Awesome recap Sharkbyte. It did seem that our shark was harpooned and during Shark Week no less. Boy when it rains it pours. Aida was beside herself with glee at the turn of events. I'm thinking Mariano is getting fed up with her.

Teresa seemed to be genuine when she told Arturo that she loved him. I saw no shark grin or scheming looks on her face. Of course, she doesn't want to go back to poverty either so...

Fito still doesn't seem to get that because of him stealing the papers is why Teresa has no more money to give. That train has left the station.

Waiting with bated breath to see the outcome of who was shot.

I believe this is the cap where Ter realizes she does love Art. Plenty of concern for him, not just the money, was evident. First time we heard her say "Te amo" was in this cap. She never had a sharky look on her face each time she was with Art.
And throwing herself between Art and the gun means she was not thinking about herself. Otherwise she would have cowered behind Art as a shield. She was protecting him from harm. That came spontaneously so I feel she does love Art.

Diann

Sharkbyte, loved your recap and photos. The last photo sure looks like Tere took the shot.

I'm glad most seem not to like the five o'clock shadow. I feel like scrubbing them clean.

Is it true that Aaron Diaz and Kate del Castillo are getting a divorce??

Ann-NYC

Sharkbyte, great recap with many funny bits including the title...." Also with my so-so Spanish I had missed some important info, so thanks for the help: why Arturo would not accept a loan from Fer (because Ori had bad mouthed Teresa,) that Dumberto was subbing for Johnny in the vencidad (Crudberto is actually as clueless and incompetent as Johnny though Johnny is a harder worker,) and that somewhat foretelling response from Tere to Ma," I'd rather be dead than poor." Now it looks like Tere might have received a serious gunshot wound.

Lightening should strike Geno's casa and the three witches as they were gleefully toasting to Tere's misfortune with champagne. Aida jealousy and hatred of Tere leads her to saying terribly cruel things (buying Art's house to humiliate her) and she is cluelessly driving Mariano away with her neverending obsession with revenge against Tere.

Love Espe and Hernan, a happy couple.

It seems Sharkette has really developed feelings and empathy for Artie. She seemed to say all the right comforting words to poor devastated Art after he learned of Saenz's suicide. Of course, we doubt she'll be true to her words.

Can't wait to see who bought the bullet tonight.

Thanks, Paquita, for Tuesday's terrific recap...had a busy day so sorry I didn't have time to say thanks earlier.

GinCA

Sharkbyte, great recap! Love the photos, especially Arturo in a tank. Ay Papi. I also really liked how you caught Aeeeeda in full shriek mode! Jajajaja!

I guess I'm in the minority with reference to the scruffy look. I really like the 5 o'clock shadow and mussed up hair. Yum. However, I don't like how Arturo's beard is meticulously outlined. It would be better if it was left natural.

Definite no, no, no, to the greasy kid stuff. The thought of running your hands through that, yuk.

Sharkita better not be hurt! What a shocker of an ending! I know she's mala but she's our mala and no one better mess with her! Whether she's hurt or not, she will milk this big time.

I agree that she definitely has grown to love Arturo. Now whether she'll remain faithful to that love in the face of poverty, who knows?

meant...".shark harpooned." LOL. Losing track of thoughts.....

GinCA

Love my word verf: bless
Have a blessed day everyone.

Forgot to mention,

Pirate Babe, loved the reference to Shark Week. LOL!

Sharkbyte: Fantastic recap and pictures, wow! And THANK YOU for including Arturo in that shirt.

On the five o'clock shadow, it depends on the shape of the face for me to like it. For example, I like it on Arturo because he has a square jaw, I also liked it on Mark Tacher for the same reason. I don't like it in guys with more oval faces like Aarón or William Levy. That's just in looks, the feel of that five o'clock shadow is not that nice however. Our tiny Terror seems to like it though, not just because both of her guys have it but because she seemed to be petting Arturo's last night.

And I don't like the gelled hair either but I'm not sure it is all the hair and wardrobe people's fault for Aarón's do. He's had his hair like that for years in his free time.

Funny but, in Veracruz and Oaxaca (the states I grew up in) those are known as empanadas, but I know in some places they are called quesadillas too (like in Coyoacán in Mexico City) although for me quesadillas are different and fried quesadillas are crunchier looking.

Here's a recipe on how to make empanadas/quesadillas. I personally like them better with cream, cheese and sauce on top. The ones in Teresa looked to be only made with cheese but you need to use Oaxaca-style string cheese.

I can't wait to see the outcome of today.

And I'm with all of you on Cutberto: If he can't do a job that even JOHNNY can do, then he is absolutely useless.

Sharkbyte..wonderful recap, I especially liked the nose growing reference and your explanation of the Full Nelson. Your screen caps are delightful......thanks. At the beginning of the novela we talked a lot about Mariano's "Brill Cream" look, most here don't like it at all. Early in the novela he had his hair combed in a high top knot, so his look has actually improved. Yes, that's hard to believe.

Put me in the camp of those who believe that Teresa does have the capability to love on some level. I think she loves her parents even though they annoy her to death, she loves/loved Mariano and she is beginning to love Arturo......She is very selfish, but many selfish people are able to love others. Just because she is extremely materialistic doesn't mean that she doesn't have the capability to experience the feelings of attachment and love. If I'm wrong I'll issue a blanket apology to everyone on this blog!

Agree with Blu, yes, three different men have told Aeeeda to get over her hatred of Teresa, still she is unable to let go of her poisonous feelings. Mariano will NOT put up with her rants much longer, he is saint-man......a bit of a sour puss, but nonetheless a saint!

Sharkbyte: Your pictures were amazing and the recap spectacular. Loved the title!

Wonderful comments today as well. My heart went out to Teresa - I agree with those of you saying she has developed feelings for Art. She was clearly in pain - and I thought as much for him as for her. I can't blame her for not wanting to go back to poverty, but I don't want her to leave Art either.

As much as Oriana is despicable, I think Aida is the devil incarnate. She is cruel beyond belief and certainly does not deserve Mariano. I wish she would just go away.

The shooting is a surprising twist, I'm wondering if indeed it was Teresa who was shot. Could have been the shooter.

Diana

Dianne,

I watched the capitulo on YouTube and Teresa is clearly shot, she has a tiny wound on her mid-drift with blood seeping on her blouse.

If this is a DERN dream sequence....I'm going to be super MAD!

The thing is that if she stays with Art, Teresa WON'T be going back to poverty. Aurora even said it to her. They would still be able to live a good life (a middle class life) with some luxuries. It just won't be anywhere near the level she has become accustomed to. But, with dedication (to each other) hard work and TIME (something Teresa has never had the patience for), she and Art would be able to build a nice nest egg for themselves. Teresa doesn't want to put in the work or time to build wealth. Remember, this was her and Mar's problem all along. He's slow and steady, and she wants it all NOW. If she couldn't be slow and steady with Mar (the love of her life), what makes us think she'll be that way with Art?

Woops.....Diana.

It is interesting Vivi, early on Teresa worked very hard to be a success. Also, it seemed to me that she was the one who discovered the "magic bullet" document that was in the VIPs stolen by Fito. She has worked and has the capability to work, but she seems to hit the panic button too soon. She is playing homage to work when she talks to Arturo..."We'll work," etc. but she wants to have her sure thing in place, Fernando, first.

In my interpretation of the Mar/Teresa early relationship, Mar gave NO indication that he wanted to do anything else but live in the vecindad and help the needy. I never heard him say anything about trying to do what he is doing now, work hard and give back. I don't blame Teresa for her early decision to look for an option out of that neighborhood! Mariano has changed......

Vivi, Im not sure if Teresa didnt want to put in the time required to get Mar career going but that at that point Mar was not willing to push for a better life. Teresa had to push him to go back to school and even at the grad reception he was content with just family and friends while Teresa was trying to get him to invite people that would help his career. So, teresa went to plan b,(Art). Even now Aida has been pushing him. 1st with doing the powerpoint for him then suggesting he move to a better place and everything else seems to have just falling in his lap for one reason or another.

What is the difference between teresa being with Art for money and Aida being with Mar for revenge or spite?

word verf: right

Woops again.....paying, not playing homage! Back to typing/proofing class for me!

What is the difference between teresa being with Art for money and Aida being with Mar for revenge or spite?

Aida has admitted to everyone, including Mariano, that when she first started going with him it was to bug Ter, but then she developed real feelings for him. Teresa has never admitted to Art that it was all about the pesos at first.

I guess I'm not remembering Mariano as some lazy slacker like you guys are. After he went back to med school, Teresa started dating him again, while still working Art. She kept this up for years. It was when she saw that Mar wasn't willing to do anything and everything to get ahead fast, that she dumped him and went with Art. She toyed with him and dumped him once again, even after his star had started to rise. Art could offer her now, what Mar could only offer her later. It was now versus later. Teresa always chooses now.

Vivi, slacker isn't the right word, naive is better. Mar couldn't see the value in financial success, a superb medical reputation and knowing the "movers and shakers" in furthering his goals of helping his people from the neighborhood. You are completely right, Teresa, like with Fernando, had her "ace in the hole," Arturo, but that has nothing to do with Mariano who had to grow, mature, and change into a completely different person, methods wise, from what he was then to who he is now. The Club? A-list Building? Hot Wheels? That isn't the old Mariano.

I agree Sandy. I think young Mariano was only seeing a future for himself doing what he loved and staying at the vecindad with his dad an friends, where he was comfortable as that was all he knew of life.

Teresa however had high ambitions even when she was very young and she expected him to follow the path he is now but she couldn't wait for him to figure it out while he was still studying. He did it when he started living in the "real world". The problem was also that he couldn't wait for Teresa to be with him when he was already working, he asked her to marry him when they were both studying and said they would figure it out from there. That's what prompt Teresa to go for Arturo (her back up card) because she saw that as a signal that Mariano would never change.

Jarocha - good points about empanadas/quesadillas. Now that I take a closer look at the photo, they do look more like what I would call an empanada. I recall, though, that Esperanza referred to them as quesadillas.

The whole concept of savory-type fillings in an "empanada" was something I had never heard of until a few years ago.

For me growing up, empanadas were always filled with sweet fillings like pumpkin or sweet potato and we had them pretty much only with breakfast.

Quesadillas were for lunch/dinner, savory, filled with cheese, fajitas, or whatever, occasionally folded over, but usually more of a sandwich with the filling between two tortillas.

Thanks for the recipe, it looks good; maybe I'll try it out this weekend.

Jarocha, I agree.....as in the real world, patience, timing and good old luck have a lot to do with relationships. It's the "only if" of it all........

SharkByte, loved the title. Thanks for a fun read.

If Teresa is the one shot, this could provoke a hospital bed heart-to-heart talk between Teresa and Mar.

"Mariano will always yearn for Ter, I wouldn't want to be married to someone always thinking about what could have been with his X." Cuchi, I agree. As much as I wanted Aurora with Mar, he's held on to the torch too long for me.

Art was so cute in his T-shirt in Teresa's nightmare, until I saw his patch pockets. What a hoot.

Sharkbyte! A man after my own heart. The 5 o'clock shadow is nice 'sometimes', but not all the time. There are times I find it absolutely irresistible! Just not every day.

I think Fer needs to get rid of that 'do with the part in the middle. It just looks too goofy and not befitting a man who is the so called catch of the century.

For me, the biggest difference between Teresa and Aida is that Teresa is capable of loving even if it is only self love. She has had varying degrees of love for others, but Aida is consumed by hatred.

I'm still not sure that she even loved her 'Bebe'. She does not improve at all in her hatred of Teresa. It is now becoming close to an obsession (Blusam...agree with all of your points re Aida).

I was actually surprised to see Teresa jump in front of Art when The Widow Saenz pulled that gun. I would have NEVER expected that of her early in the game.

While this might turn out to be an unconscious act of redemption, I would agree that she will use this to advantage. She is a smart woman and knows all about self preservation.

Now...this Saenz story has me confused a bit (after thinking I had understood the original story). Do I understand correctly that Saenz did Art a favour when Art's parents were unjustly accused of something (what did they do, actually?)

Then, Saenz himself got in trouble and Art became his attorney. What did Saenz do, exactly and why did Art have to put up his entire fortune to 'save' him.

I was hoping we'd get a gander at Saenz, but it was not to be.

In any event, I'd appreciate someone clarifying the Saenz story one more time.

As for that Maldito Fito...what in the world is Teresa going to do with him now?!

Susanita

Teresa chooses now and it's her way or no way.

Mariano wasn't a slacker at all, but a he wasn't in a hurry either. He may have needed more confidence.

We have 44 more episodes. If there are three different endings for this series I wonder which one we'll get.

Susanita- Art's parents were murdered and then everyone started to say they were murdered because they were linked to illegal/underground/shady business. Almost everyone abandoned young Art (and Luisa) because of the scandal, except Oriana and Saenz (and probably a few others). Saenz not only gave Art moral support, but also financial support and helped Art in his quest to clear his parents' name and take down their murderers. After that, Art started to invest in Saenz' business ventures with him. He trusted Saenz completely and served as a financial backer of much of Saenz' business ventures. It doesn't seem that Saenz was shady. He just got duped by the people he was working with. But as the main financial backer of Saenz, Art was left holding the bag to his debt when all these people started suing Saenz.

I am guessing the widow is ticked, and Art feels guilty, because when the case was at its most crucial stage, Art was frolicking in Europe, and then he tried to distance himself from Saenz and say he was deceived too, but the VIPs making the case for this never arrived. And then of course the case was lost and Saenz lost it.

Vivi: Really appreciate that clarification. I found myself in the middle of the gun shot scene trying to remember what it was that Saenz actually did or did not do.

I also didn't realise that Art had backed off in terms of his support for Saenz. Somehow, I missed that point. I assume it was during the extended Luna de Miel.

Poor Art was between a rock and a hard place on that one as Teresa was not making life easy for him. She made it feel like it was going to be either her or Saenz.

What choice did Art really have if he truly wanted to be with Teresa?

Again...thank you. The Widow Saenz momentarily confused things again.

Gracias.

Susanita

It was Teresa's idea to file the paperwork saying basically that Art had been swindled by Saenz too. They got Saenz to agree to it, since it would have taken the fiancial pressure off Art. Teresa's reasoning was that if they lost the case, at least Art would have the financial means to help Saenz after the loss. Art was resistant at first, because he is so loyal. But it did make sense, and Saenz seems to have agreed to it. But Art's paperwork claiming this had to be in to the judge by a certain point/time, and that's where Madito Fito Bandito came in to mess it all up.

The funny thing is that Saenz's case was already getting worse back when Arturo and Teresa got married. If Arturo had left then with Teresa to Europe then probably the same would have happened: Saenz losing the case, killing himself and his wife looking to kill Arturo. But Arturo went back that time and mantained things steady for a while, then he went to Europe with Teresa and things got bad again. I know now the VIP's had more to do with it but this reminds me of that movie final destination where a group of kids escape death but death comes looking for them later as they were supposed to die before. Not that Teresa is going to die, we have 40 something episodes to go. But destiny was definitely looking for her.

Sharkbyte: You'll love them. The empanadas I tend to eat with sweet fillings are usually made with pastry, the ones with corn dough are more savory. But I have eaten some sweet tamales made with strawberries or coconut, those are delicious, so I know corn dough tastes good with sweet flavors too.

Jarocha

Vivi: Yes, I did understand that Teresa had uncovered some key points for Art, but did not understand it to the extend that you explained it above. Really do appreciate that. Up until your description of things, I did not realise that Saenz was a swindler.

Gracias!

Susanita

Aida definitely has mental problems. She seems to define her self-worth by how she's doing compared to Teresa and what she can do to hurt her, in addition to just plain being jealous of her.

When Aida embarrased Teresa at that graduation party (I think it was a grad party), that took an abnormal level of vindictive impulse to go through with something like that. I could understand if Aida gossiped about Teresa's situation or called her out on it whenever Teresa specifically made it a point to carry-out her charade. However, to setup a slideshow at a big event and publicly berate and humiliate Teresa the way she did revealed a lot about Aida. Her behaviour today is consistent with what we have seen from the start.

Maybe Aida takes after Ruben. Both seem to possess a blatant lack of concern for the feelings or rights of others and have fits of uncontrolled cruelty. In other words, they have anti-social tendancies not unlike someone with a personality disorder. In my experience, people like that don't often get better without professional help. Mariano should dump her and change the locks to his apartment.

Jarocha - definitely the sweet filled empanadas I've had have a pastry-type of dough. Savory quesadillas I've had are made with tortillas de maiz or de harina.

I don't think Saenz swindled his clients on purpose. He was swindled, which caused him to swindle his clients.

I think what happened had something to do with the fall of the house market. But I can't remember the details well. This issue was more complicated than the usual telenovela legal dealings.

Sharkbyte: I love the pastry empanadas too. The quesadillas with tortilla de harina are good too. For those I tend to use the name sincronizada, and the ones that use carne al pastor are called gringas lol. I know, there are different names for everything depending on where you grew up. The quesadillas are also called quecas but that's only used for the usual ones.

So, in other words, Saenz repaid like with like.

Not unheard of in this day and age.

Susanita

Sharkbyte, re: Aida and Ruben, and antisocial tendencies-In my experience most antisocials do not get better WITH professional help.
