Cuando Me Enamoro #115 Thursday 9/29/11 I would not give you false hope on this strange on mournful day...

...because the mother and child reunion is way more than a motion away. Months in fact.

Last night Marta noted that several men were keeping secrets while the women were paying the consequences. Let’s see who is keeping secrets tonight, shall we?

As Coni lies in bed playing The Brain That Couldn’t Speak, Gina erroneously surmises that Berta is her own daughter. In the house Eulalia the maid, not properly trained in first aid or common sense, takes the time to run to Coni’s house to report to the paralyzed and mute Constanza that Berta is having a heart attack. Luckily, since Renata and Regina are there, they follow the maid to Roberta.

The Brain That Wouldn't Die (1962)
Look familiar?

Luciana, the bank manager who knows everyone’s secrets, helps Fina open a private account in her name only, Josephina Alvarez. Luciana is bug-eyed impactada to note that Fina’s big ol’ bag of money is the very same one that Regina withdrew that morning.

At Empresas Monterrubio, Mopías tells Hons he wants to move out. Hons reveals that Adri told him what was up between them. They agree that a Mopías apartment is probably best for everyone. I’m sure Adri would love a mope-free environment for a change.

Cut to Adri mooning and sighing over her laptop. She calls Chema to say they need to talk. He suggests she come to his place for a cappuccino, chai, yummy empanadas, whatever. Because of his headaches he doesn’t want to drive anywhere. She’s concerned about his headaches but he says don’t worry, he’s taking some medicine and he looks forward to seeing her.

Regina, Nata and useless maid arrive just as Roberta wakes up clutching her chest. Nata sends the maid off to get Berta’s heart pills. Gina is all concerned about her ‘daughter’ and Berta looks at her sideways wondering how to play this.

Back at EM Gonzo tells Hons he’s worried about Regina. She spent all afternoon in the church and told him she wants to be alone. He found out Pepa contacted Gina and she didn’t even let him know. They agree that this Pepa is very dangerous. Hons suggests maybe Regina wants to protect Gonzo. Gonzo is afraid Pepa might be setting a trap (tendiendo una trampa). Gosh Gonzo, ya think?

Oh my goodness, Adri shows up at Chema’s and he’s got a sideboard loaded with pastries. Dang I’m hungry. There is a bottle of wine on the table but all she wants is a capucchino.
He acts like a goofball but she remains pensive, thinking about the pie cart she’s about to push over his heart. OK let’s step back for a minute here. On one hand there is Mr. Sulk in Shiny Silver suits. On the other there is the upbeat cook who excels at kissing and making delectable treats. Whom to choose, whom to choose...

Berta is resting while Gina clumsily attempts to skulk. Under Berta’s sly glance Gina steals Renata’s brush from Roberta’s purse and hides it in her own. While Nata fusses over her sis Regina thought bubbles that Berta suffers from the same affliction as her father. She must somehow prove (comprobar) which of the two is her daughter, and all indications point to Roberta, not Renata as she had thought (and likely hoped).

Hons provides Gonzo with some novel and never-before-attempted advice, why doesn’t Gonzo just talk to Regina? Gonzo exclaims it to be a wonderful idea. He’ll talk to Gina and tell her that she can count on him. Hons is on a brain roll today. He thought bubbles that Pepa and Fina might be the same person as Coni suggested, so he asks Gonzo about Fina. Nope, Gonzo hasn’t heard a thing from her since the day Coni was attacked and he was talking to Fina at the house. He even tries to call her but no answer.

Carlos is happily reviewing with Jero some La Bonita plans, pointing out where the vines and new cellar will eventually be, when Lazaro escorts Ezequiel into the office. Ez nervously provides an info dump, revealing that Augustin has given Ez an assignment (encargo ), to steal a vine shoot (brota de sarmiento) from the mother plant for the Cruz de Amor vineyard because the one he had is dying from the plague. Laz confirms it was one of theirs. Jero sighs and said he knew about it, Karma’s a bitch, no?

Meanwhile Augustin, back in his sporty white windbreaker, is pitching a fit at the poor brota babysitter because his sprout is, dare I say it, dying on the vine. He calls the guy useless but this nanny’s got a pair of nalgas. He puffs his expansive chest at Augi, tells him it’s not his fault and besides, he knows a few things. Augi guffaws that the guy had better not become his enemy lest something happen to his family. Oops, I think that caused our vine tender just a wee bit of shrinkage.

Jero tells Ez they’ll give him a shoot, but I think he says it will be a sham shoot. Anyone??
Jero tells Ez from now on Ez can count on Jero’s full support, he’s not alone in this. Ez says he’s been a faithful worker but he’s done things he’s not proud of. Jero says this is a good time for Ez to start making amends (rectificar) and start over.

In the kitchen Kari seems to be coming out of her shell, or maybe it just those enthusiastic puppies popping out of her bodice. Whatever, the look is better than Beaten Down Frump. She and the other ladies are cooking dinner for Alfonsina (Caldo de Camarón) and Manuela wants to know if she has decided to take Padre’s monumentally stupid advice (that she wait a year to get married). Bummer, the answer is yes and Mati just shakes her head.

Yuck, now we visit Doc MakesMeHurl who slimily pumps the real Doc for info about his new identity. He gripes about starting over with no money, no woman, nada, boo frickin’ hoo. The real doc tells him at least he’s alive and maybe he’ll get out sooner than he thinks. Uh oh, cue the anvil.

Regina finally returns to the abandoned Coni to tell her Roberta is better after her serious tachycardia attack. She says they were both wrong about Renata, she’s now sure that Berta is her daughter. While Coni makes frustrated noises Regina blathers on about stealing Berta’s brush to get DNA proof. She weeps that if Berta is hers she doesn’t know what she’ll do because Roberta hates her. That makes two of us Ms. Banana-Curls-For-Brains (thanks daisynjay). Why don’t you shut your pie-hole and pay attention to someone besides yourself for once?

Berta tells Nata she’s glad “that woman” left. Sorry if she’s ungrateful but she’s not a hypocrite. (Uh, yes you are.) Nata’s amazed at Berta’s coldness but Berta thanks Nata for coming in spite of the hate Nata feels for her. Nata won’t deny there are some bad feelings but Berta is her sister and in spite of everything she loves her. Berta admits she feels very alone. “Well, duh what did you expect after betraying and lying to all of us?” Nata comments. Berta takes her engagement ring out of her jewelry box and tells Nata she was such an idiot. She notes what a coincidence that both half-brothers were in love with two sisters. Nata observes how sad that none of them succeeded in their love.

Hons, walking with Gonzo, gets a call from security telling him that the attack on his wife was generated from within (adentro) . It must have been a worker or someone with access to the property because nobody strange was seen going in or out.

Gonzo sees Regina and she apologizes about earlier. That’s nice but has she apologized to Inez yet? We’re still waiting for that one. She tells him she doesn’t feel like talking now and he tells her that the most difficult times to talk are times when one should talk.

Hons urges Eulalia, the poor Monterrubio maid, to think back on that day. Did she see Coni before the attack? Yes, she came to the house to get some things from the office. No, Fina wasn’t there but Berta was. Later she heard someone (females) arguing and they were the only ones in the house.

Berta takes Nata’s hand and cries into it, but Nata pulls away and rushes out of the room, leaving Berta to cry to herself alone, once again.

Berta pulls herself together and calls Fina to report that Regina was there. Both Gina and Nata came when Berta had a tachycardia attack and she watched Regina sneak Nata’s brush out of her own purse. Fina cackles that luck is on their side, bwahahahahaha!!! Mom, we’re waiting for you to ask your daughter how she’s doing after her tachycardia attack. Mom? Mom?

The maid continues that when the police came Fina had already gone. They haven’t seen her since but Roberta probably knows where she is. Nata shows up and Hons says he was just wondering if Fina had seen anything strange on the day of the attack.

Chema and Adri are stuffing their faces with all his pastries and chocolate covered strawberries. His dream is to go to France and study with the great great pasty chefs (reposteros). Sinister music plays as he get a headache attack.

Happier music at La Bonita. Doc Tata tells Jero over the phone that she has something important to tell him. He gets a text from Luciana that she gave the money to Regina. He calls Regina and she thanks him for the money and apologizes for not getting back to him. She’s been so dazed (tan atarantada). He makes her promise that when she’s ready to make the drop she’ll call him and he’ll come to Mexico. After they hang up she apologizes to him for lying to him but she couldn’t tell him the truth.

Carlos enters the office and gravely brings Jero the handwriting results. Fina Monterrubio DID write the La Bonita letter!!! Jero paces and howls That Woman is to blame for everything. Carlos suggests Jero calm down while they gather more proof. He knows Jero is thinking that Renata’s mother is Rafa’s killer. Carlos says while they start the investigation and gather proof they’d better not say anything to anyone. They agree this will be hardest on Renata.

Chema’s got a nasty ringing in his ears and a wringing in his brain. He tells Adri they’ll have to talk another day. She should leave, he’ll be fine. She’s not so sure.

Oh please, I don’t think I can take anymore of Coni’s moaning and groaning. Now Gonzo is tormenting her, saying he doesn’t know what she’s trying to tell him. She sees a pic of Fina on the nightstand and writhes with renewed fervor. Gonzo picks it up and says “You want to see her? You want me to bring her here?” Oh dude you are an incredible ass. It sounds like Coni is trying to say “ladrón” (thief).

Jero calls the comandante and instructs him to move forward with the investigation as quickly as possible. He gasps to Carlos that Fina could be the cause of all the evil to Rafa, Renata, Roberta, all of them. She killed her daughter’s boyfriend! Carlos says it’s hard to believe, is this woman Lucifer personified? Yep, pretty much. Jero won’t rest until he puts Fina in jail to pay for what she’s done. He is very sorry for himself and for Renata.

Now Gonzo, Hons and Regina are at Coni’s bed driving her crazy. Gonzo insists she was trying to say something about Fina and a baby. Coni thought bubbles “Honorio pay attention!” Gonzo tells her to conserve her strength and Gina suggests she stay there alone with Coni. Regina proceeds to torture Coni by telling her all the terrible things she knows about Fina but cannot reveal. Idiota.

Nata talks to Augi on the phone; he brags to her that he’s about to sample the best wine in the valley, el Vino Renacer, named after her. As she excitedly gushes he draws a barrel (barrica) tasting using his wine “thief”. He is about to taste his bodacious blend (mezcla). She wants him to describe everything to her. He swirls and gazes at it adoringly, sniffs, looks alarmed, and tastes. No puede ser!! He throws the glass on the ground, goes from tank to tank in a rage and really truly gets bright red in the face. Yikes, I think his wine is crap.

Kari dishes up Alfonsina’s Shrimp Soup and tells the others she’ll go by herself. She doesn’t want to bother Lazaro. Mati asks her what’s up with Kari and Laz? Is she sad because they’re not going to marry at the same time as she and Carlos? Kari says Laz just doesn’t seem into it. Kari and Manuela thing it’s all just too weird.

Augi bellows to Ez that the tanks have been tampered with. Ez insists that Augi is the only one who touches the tanks. Augi says they will pay very dearly for this. But who? wonders Ezequiel, who would do such a thing? Augi squacks obviously it’s someone who wants to hurt him and knows how to adjust the tank valves. Of course! Jero Linares or one of his people are responsible!

Doc Tata finally makes an appearance tonight. She tells Jero she’s decided to get a little house in town. She needs her freedom and at least Padre will be a bit happier. Jero agrees it’s a good idea and they can still be a pair. Kissy face.

Nata tells Adri and Hon that Augi’s harvest is ruined. Hons doesn’t even hear because he’s so worried about Coni. He wants to stay with her so she’s not alone. Nata and Adri decide to stay there instead of moving into Adri’s apartment. Good call team Girl Power.

Mopias brings home a guest, spare girl Julieta, and he announces he’s moving out. Nata wonders who the girl is and Adri mocks that she’s Hit-N-Run Spare Girl. Hon smiles at her jealousy.

Augi blasts into Jero’s love nest and accuses him of ruining his wine in vengeance. Jero swears he didn’t do anything. Augi plays dirty, insisting he has the only treasure that really matters to Jeronimo...Renata. Augi lies that she is no longer his girlfriend, she is his woman (implying sex). Doc Tata fidgets uncomfortably. Jero can barely speak and orders Augi to shut up and leave his house. Augi says Jero is a loser and an imbecile for rejecting a woman like Renata. That’s why he indulged himself by giving Nata the hot love that Jero couldn’t.

Jero hauls off and punches Augi in the face. That lower jaw juts and Augi hisses he’ll not return the favor, just like he’ll never return Renata to Jero, no matter what Jero does!

Poor Doc Tata doesn’t know what to make of these rutting rams as tonight's final scene closes with a whimper.

I didn't keep score but I think tonight the women might win the secret-keeping contest.

Avances: Hons tell Gonzo that Fina is the woman who tried to kill Coni.

Vocab:
adentro = within, inside
barrica = barrel
brota de sarmiento = vine shoots
comprobar = to prove
encargo = assignment
mezcla = blend
rectificar = amend, rectify
repostero = pastry chef
tan atarantada = so dazed
tender una trampa = to set a trap

Cap'n my Cap'n!!! Bravo!! Loved this line: 'novel and never before attempted advice'!!! I could NOT...absolutely could not stop laughing!!! Thank you, amiga!!

I was in luck this evening as Justin.tv carried Univision Pacifico!!!

Those goodies that Chema had on the sideboard were making me hungry. Weren't they simply beautiful?!

Mopias and Spare Girl #2 can both go take a hike.

The best scene of all: Malafina presenting Luciana, Banker Lady, with the briefcase loaded with the payola!! I LOVED it!!!

Second best scene of all: The puzzled look on Tatariffic's face! Ha! Figure this one out, Tatariffic!!!

Tonight...I did not feel so badly about the turn of events, but the Laz/Kari business is going to drag on and on, I'm afraid.

Gracias, dear Cap'n for another warp speed recap!!

Susanita

...oh...and one more thing! Thank you for the vocab!!! Really appreciated the list, Cap'n!!

Susanita

Jero tells Ez they’ll give him a shoot, but I think he says it will be a sham shoot. Anyone??
Indeed, they will let him think it is what he wants it to be, but it'll be a long time before Auggie figures he has been had.

Poor Berta, Fina didn't even bother asking Berta how she was after her well timed attack.

Great find on the Coni-like pic. Gina should at least help Coni with some sort of therapy while she sits there and whines.

Will Luciana the bank lady put her brain to work and say something about the money Fina just brought in....

Ruby: I agree that Jero made it sound like they would give Augie a vine shoot, but definitely not the one that Augie wants.

Susanita

Thanks for checking in tonight Susanita and Ruby. I was hoping to get the recap up before we all went to bed. Also, thanks for the confirmation on the vine shoot plot.

Now I wonder, if Jero didn't sabotage Augi's tanks, and I don't think he did, who is the culprit? I think Augi's employees are likely too frightened to do such a thing. I have a crazy idea but I'd like to hear what others think.

Oh my Cap'n Sylvia, You are so wonderful. This was the wacky irony and snark to pull us all out of te depression that Jules, Martaivett and I had to swim through all week. I agree that there is still a lot that is sorrowful but Sylvia sure made us grin and bear it.

I observed that both Kari and Maritata want to grin and bare it.

Poor Chema seems really sick but poor Matias is going to whine when he realizes he has angered the smartest woman he will likely ever meet in exchange for the most boring one he will ever meet.

Luciana's expression on seeing the black bag come back to her desk was priceless. I have two thoughts, will her greater friendship for Jero make her spill to him and did Fina and Roberta spill very much out when they were flinging it around on the bed. That little maid better clean well and soon, might be a tip under there with the dust bunnies.

So what are we to think about the spoiled wine vat. Could a shovel or two full of horse maniure ruin a big mighty vat? Let's see, could be Zeke? Carlos or Lazaro? Could Alfonsina have done it before she got sick? We don't really know how long it has been ruined. The guy he threatened in the field was mighty urked even though Augie threatened his family or because he threatened his family maybe it pushed him over the edge.Think I'll sleep on it. I did like that Jero offered support and even a job if Zeke wants to jump ship now or later. He left the door open for him. and He already promised Alfonsina that she would get her salary in sick pay for however long it takes even until the baby is born. I just hope Augie doesn't kill him.

Dr.Manynastynamesnesme is planning a jail break, is anyone else aware of that? He even knows now how long he has to escape before they transfer him to a new jail.

Last thought for the night: Doctora de las tatas better get used to being a spare girl no matter how much she thinks she can get Jero to start a new life. He said several times that Renata was the love of his life and always would be. when he talked to Carlos.

Loved your title Cap'n Silvia , also speedy & excellent recap! I too am angry at the idiots around Coni, everyone talk & talks at her instead of figuring out some sort of morse code!. Blink once for yes , twice for no! Haven't they heard of the game charades in Mexico? Yikes! Knucklehead Regina talks & doesn't even look at poor Connie for a reaction. It's always about her, and what a selfish as$ she was for telling Coni she knows all the bad Fina has done including hurting Coni but they can't say anything! Gee thanks for your concern at my being a near vegetable...
I honestly don't care a flying grape about her now, no wonder she & Jero are friends...dumb & dumber. Now her long lost beloved daughter Roberta will walk all over her and will be calling her stupida!

Does anyone remember if spare girl Julietta was also spare girl friend of Paloma in Nombre de amor? Think she like
The Chema actor?

Cheryl, "grin and bare it", LOL! That would make a great title. Wish I'd thought of it. Hey, maybe Luciana will spill the beans to Jero. I'm still mad at him but...1) he looks GREAT in suits and 2) he seems to have a skill for getting women to reveal confidential info.

Oh dear, your observance about Doc Icky is a good one. Darn him!! Why do people keep telling him things?

Elle, dumb and dumber, hee. I was SO mad at Regina for blathering non-stop and not even watching for Coni's reaction. Why does everyone keep talking AT her? Sheesh!

I felt very sorry for Doc Tata last night. Her expression at the end was perfectly cringe-inducing.

Sylvia, this was sensational. You were in top form (as always), but your extra touches, including amazing vocabulary (embedded as well!), propelled this recap to a higher plane.

I laughed out with delight at: "On one hand there is Mr. Sulk in Shiny Silver suits. On the other there is the upbeat cook who excels at kissing and making delectable treats. Whom to choose, whom to choose...". YES! I kept telling Adri, pick Chema, pick Chema! Sadly, she not only failed to heed my advice, but unfathomably, chose to ignore Chema's contorted facial expressions that begged transport to the nearest emergency room pronto.

Other favorites were "Doc MakesMeHurl" and "Oops, I think that caused our vine tender just a wee bit of shrinkage". Wonderful!

An increasingly smaller part of me continues to hope for Roberta's redemption but it seems to be slipping away. On the other hand, I will be interested to see what justice is meted out to Fina. Hopefully, harsh. She deserves no less.

Sylvia, thank you for your marvelous wit and superb writing. You've made my Friday even happier.

Oh, and the episode was good as well!

Diana

Sylvia, I loved the title. And I agree with all the comments. You were on your game tonight. You had a lot of fashion comments
--Mr. Sulk in Shiny Silver suits
-- back in his sporty white windbreaker,
--coming out of her shell, or maybe it just those
enthusiastic puppies popping out of her bodice.

I have a couple of way out theories about who sabotged the wine. And neither is a person who actually knows that much about the controls. One could have been seeking revenge before she disappeared and the other may have just been playing around with something interesting not knowing what he was doing. ideas anyone?

Güera

Hmmm..Sylvia...I'm experiencing a Culture Gap. Your title sounds like it comes from some famous bit of literature...what is it amiga?

Loved your sassy recap, "shrinkage jokes"...always funny, and like Diana, also loved Doc MakesMeHurl...in fact that's my favorite nom de plume of all.

Terrific vocab and good Lord! between Alfonsina, Kari and Marina I feel like we're under a Boob Attack. Thank goodness Renata and Roberta appear to be normal non-surgically enhanced women.

Happy Friday and weekend to everyone.

I salute you Sylvia. Priceless recap. You sure had me laughing this morning!

Testerone flying last night. I was absolutely disgusted by Auggie's implication and treating Nata like a possession he has contol over. I was ready to slug him too.

Dr. Tata should take that punch by Jero to know where she really stands. For all her talk, there's something rather sadly desperate in her hanging on to Jero. She knows she's the consolation prize.

But,the way Jero was sitting with Tata was too funny in there conversation though. She too was displaying the girls last night. Juan had some nice view there. I don't think her NOT moving to La Bonita will stop these too, but kinda like not having her in "Nata's house".

As for Auggie - yahoo! He's about to get shammed on the vine, and his current wine is crap. I would think those vats have limited access by staff. I do remember Spare Girl #1 going in that area - could she have spoilt the batch as a final "up yours" to Auggie. Now that would put her high on my list of Atta Girl awards. Most likely though one of our current gang...

I'm worried about Zeke too. Had that thought last night that he may be our resident candidate for good guy who gets sacrificed. TN law. Double agents usually don't fare well in these things.

Now, I need to head to the bakery because I've been salivating for something sweet since watching that Chema scene last night. LOVED your "which to choose" Sylvia. I mean really Adri...

Berta was sad to watch for a few seconds there, but I was happy that Nata did not cave easily. Girl has some redeeming and apologizing to do.

Love the action is just moving right along...who is going to start spilling some secrets??? This TN doesn't make us wait to the end, just a questions of when and who first. Love it!!

Sylvia- I enjoyed this episode, but I was laughing all the way through your recap and I love that pic. So like our lovely Connie, who is being TORTURED by the people who claim to love her. I could have slapped Regina. She knows perfectly well what Connie is desperately trying to communicate, and yet tortures her by saying they have to keep it a secret. I am glad Connie is ignoring her and still trying to communicate to the dolts around her. Seems like tonight Hon will get a clue.

I am sure Luciana knows perfectly well that the money Fina just brought in is the same that she gave to Gina. It's just a matter of WHO she will tell (Gonzo or Jero). Is there a professional ethics thing with bankers about not sharing their client's info? If so, I hope she tosses them aside like Dr. Marina did.

I am also glad Nata stayed firm in the face of Berta crying because she is alone. She made her bed, so... Nata was gracious enough to tell her that she loves her, which is more than I would have done for such a treacherous sister.

As for the ruined vats, yes, it could have been Arely. It might have also been Doc Alvaro too. It might have been Berta right before she took off to D.F. I can't imagine anyone at LA Bonita doing it. They're all too honest. Who else has Augie ticked off?

That spread Chema had for Adri had me drooling! Uhm, I know which guy I'd choose. Now, someone please make that boy go to a doctor.

Elle- Yes, the Julieta actress played Liliana in ENDA. She also played young Fedra in Llena de Amor. She didn't end up with the guy (the Chema actor) in the end, but was very helpful to the heroine. Perhaps in this one, they'll give her the consolation prize of Chema. Although I don't think he's long for this world.

Ahoy Cap'n! You nailed it once again Girl! What a fun a joyous cap of another drive-me-kerazy episode. Oh. My. Freakin'. Gosh! What a bunch of IDIOTS!! Poor Connie should thought bubble, "boy, you don't know your friends and family are as dumb as hammers til you find yourself unable to talk sense into their heads. . .!" Not one of the idiots has thought to get some communication aid and Gonzo, boy, you're going down a whole bunch of notches, suggesting that you bring Fina to see Connie!! Holy Mother of. . .it was so much like an episode of Carol Burnett's "As the Stomach Turns" or "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" that after a few seconds I was laughing instead of enraged!

You also kept me laughing: "this nanny’s got a pair of nalgas" and "boo frickin’ hoo" and many others. Oh, you have to keep from screaming at these dummies! Thanks, Cap'n. Haven't read comments yet, it's going to be a fun read after a 4-hour meeting I have here at work. Thank you, amiga for a fun start to the morning!

Lila

Great recap Sylvia. Super funny stuff. My fave:

"On one hand there is Mr. Sulk in Shiny Silver suits. On the other there is the upbeat cook who excels at kissing and making delectable treats. Whom to choose, whom to choose..."

Chema does have his redeeming qualities. I felt so sorry for both of them. Adri was trying to drop a bomb and all the while he was deliriously oblivious. You could almost see her little hamster whispering,

"Hey this stuff looks good. It'd be a shame to let all this go to waste. Couldn't we break the bad news another day?"

Chema convinced me that there is something bad going on in his head. That squinting grimace was very realistic... I'd say... brain tumor. Sorry, Chema.

Augie does wonderful tantrums.

I like Panchito as the wine saboteur. I think that Güera may as well:

...and the other may have just been playing around with something interesting not knowing what he was doing."

Jules and Marta, your recaps were great. Sorry I didn't get a chance to comment. We've had an incredibly busy week.

Carlos

Cap'n: I am just DYING laughing at that foto of 'The Brain That Would Not Die'. MY WORD!!! Could this be our Cons?!

I am LAUGHING!!!

Susanita

Yes Carlos exactly what I was thinking. When he was hiding and met Renata that day. He could have easily fiddled with knobs and switches without having any idea what he was doing.

I'm not so sure that Adri was there to dump Chema. A couple of days ago she ran a couple of scenes through her head -- flour flirting with Chema and Mopias' kisses -- then she said yes. I know I want to spend my life with you -- was it Mathias because of his kiss or Chema because of the way it compared unfavorablay with Chema's kiss? just askin'

Güera

Diana, I suspect you and I are both of the "hopelessly optimistic" variety in that a teeny part of us still hopes for Roberta's redemption. Last night was the strongest inkling I'd had in a while. Her apathetic phone report to Fina, while still crying and experiencing chest pains, was just too sad. Especially since mom didn't seem to care about her daughter's health in the least. I want to see her turn her back on the dark side and seek redemption in Ensenada.

Judy, Mother An Child Reunion is an old Paul Simon song. "Boob attack", hee, most definitely.

Güera, I was thinking the saboteur was more along the lines of one who was seeking revenge. However your other idea about someone just playing around is also very interesting. Knowing these writers they won't make us wait long.

daisynjay, I'm hoping we get to give Arely an Atta Girl award for Augi's crap vintage. She was pretty PO'd but I do hope she is FAR away from Ensenada if she is found out.

Vivi, Oooh, Doc Alvaro as the saboteur. And Augi thinks he's dead so that would have been a good parting shot.

Carlos, if it is Panchito who accidentally did the deed he will need a savior. This makes me worry for Ezequiel all the more.

Carlos I know you are not a Chema fan but his acting did seem excruciatingly accurate. Your nod of approval is always appreciated. Güera, hmmmmm...you're right. Adri did not tell us exactly what her intentions were. And now her news is delayed further.

Lila, oh yes indeed, "As he Stomach Turns" is a perfect comparison! I love it when an episode reminds us of Carol Burnett skits.

Susanita and others, I'm glad you enjoyed the photo. Honestly, ever since I saw Coni in her head bandage that's all I could think of. I had to get it out of my system!

Panchito as the culprit...I love it!

Me too. I've been thinking of all sorts of scenarios that make Augi look like an ogre if he were to find out. If Renata was watching he would be forced to be civil, make his jaw jut and his face turn red. That guy does anger better than most.

OMG! Sylvia! That picture is hysterical!!! It looks just like Coni! Yes, we are all laughing a good one at that.

Ditto, ditto, ditto to what everyone else has said. So many funny lines. My favorite was -Dare I Say It, Dying on The Vine -
Who knew we'd ever use that phrase literally?

Marta, I loved your re-cap too. I don't have computer access during the days on Tues / Thurs, so I can't really make the comments I want, but know that you are always appreciated. I am actually considering upgrading my phone just so I can read/comment on this blog during those days. Yes, I've caught the sickness.

From Marta's re-cap and the dream interpretation, I am worried that the death could be Dr. Tatas. Is that how Jero and Renata get back together? Now I am more concerned about her life than her getting dumped. She is so sweet and her face when the guys were fighting over Renata was sad.

I think that when Roberta was showing the ring to Renata she was going to say about 2 half-brothers loving 2 half-sisters, but Renata finished her sentence for her (as Renata tends to do), so that moment of weakness when the truth could have spilled out didn't happen.

Cheryl - ew...horse manure in the vats! That would teach him! I think it was Roberta messing with the dials as a going away gift.

Sylvia, your title was brilliant and the vocab so helpful. Thank you!

Sylvia, you are in top form as always. I can't even pick which bit was my favorite. Thanks for giving us a good laugh this morning.

Jan in the Pan from The Brain That Wouldn't Die!! (I saw the movie featured on Mystery Science Theater 3000; it's a classic episode). The resemblance to Connie is hilarious! Poor Connie has a body but no voice and Jan in the Pan had no body and wouldn't shut up. That sounds like a plot of an amusingly terrible sitcom.

Speaking of amusing, these scenes of people talking at Connie rather than communicating with her are lapsing into comedy now. I agree that Gonzo's assumption about Connie wanting to see Fina was something straight out of a Carol Burnett sketch. And Regina constantly torturing her is starting to become comedic too. Especially since we really want someone to bop her on the head to knock some sense into her.

Of course it would come in handy that Luciana works at the only bank in the DF. I wonder how long it'll take before some kind of investigation is started.

Chema's headaches have been going on far too long to be something curable. It seems like the TN Gods are setting him up for the kill...I sure hope they won't go through with it.

Amy

Although poor Connie being unable to communicate her vital info is really frustrating, I have to say it's way more interesting and exciting than if she had ended up in a coma or with amnesia as we originally thougth.

"I think that when Roberta was showing the ring to Renata she was going to say about 2 half-brothers loving 2 half-sisters, but Renata finished her sentence for her (as Renata tends to do), so that moment of weakness when the truth could have spilled out didn't happen." Rosemary LaO! I thought the same thing, that Berta was trying to say something, not just get mushy with Renata! I think you've got something there!

Lila

Re: Vinegar instead of wine, I love it. It must have been Karma because she is a bitch or of course there is always Bacchus. I Don't think Bacchus approves of Augie's evil ways.

I want my very own Chema, what a guy! I am surprised someone has not taken him home to meet the family long ago.

I do not like, cannot like and will not like Dr. Tatas. I have never seen someone so obsessed with someone. She is hanging on to Jero like a leech.

This TN makes me crazy with the really stupid women, can't there be just one smart, savy one. They are giving us all a bad name.

The Shrimp Soup sounds good. Maybe I will make some this weekend.

sylvia, you had me coughing all during my lunch hr with this great recap... Right on the money! and so funny for an ep that had its moments of WTH...
and yes, the sham vine spurt is meant to not let Augie find out he did not get the 'gold mine' for a long time. Remember Augie bought three years worth of crop from Rafa so he would have long enough time to grow the stolen vine into his land, then he would destroy the vines from La Bonita and keep the only good vines for himself. And that was since he could not buy La Bonita itself. He wants to be the only owner of the 'good wine'. So Jero wants Ezeq to take a sham shoot to Augie so he will think he got it done and will be the winner in the end. By then Jero plans on being able to prove what Augie did and meant to do from the get go with the help of Alvaro.
aw phewy... Panchito being the culprit of Augie's latest hissy fit (great that Renata heard it all over the phone, how easily he loses control over stuff like that) sends shivers down my spine too for either Pachito or Ezeq.

So,things are picking up again. Thanks to you, Sylvia and the writers. I love it when men fight over a woman. It reminds me of earlier eons.

I only got as far as Ruby's comments to know mine are superfluous. Yep, Luciana and the money bag. I wonder if she'll call Jero with her suspicions.

Coni needs a speech therapist ASAP. Surely there are some in DF and surely the Hons and Gonz of that social and economic strata can find a good one to come to the house--these folks are NOT trained in non-verbal communication and are NOT helping the situation. They also need a round-the-clock nurses aide there, but we won't go into the details of why.

And who saw the ruin of the wine coming. Shouldn't Augie have been checking the temperature and whatever else those gizmos read, on a daily or semi-daily basis? Especially since he was the only one who was allowed to touch the dials.

Sooo glad DrTatasinYourFace is not moving to La Bonita. Yes, hmmm it gives Jero and the lady privacy, but our AH is now so riled up by getting Fina into jail he's not going to have time to make love.

Hilarious and of course clever recap Cap'n Sly.

COULD SOMEONE PLEASE GET CONI A LAPIZ Y PAPEL!!!!!

Everytime I see her I scream at the TV. When my mom had a stroke a few years ago and couldn't talk above whisper (she is much better now), she used pen and paper to communicate. That being said the stroke had affected her writing for a bit, but it got better as well. They could at least TRY that with Coni.--I guess my working with children and adults with speech and comunication problems in a past life doesn't help me much here either. LOL

I will TRY to contain myself for tonights episode, but I tend to flip over to 2.5 Men reruns when Coni is on the screen.

Valeena

I'll agree on the lack of therapy for Coni. Heck, Adri got more for her arm and leg than Coni is getting. Maybe Gina could make herself useful when she's blabbering AT Coni and help her like she did Adri. There's no excuse that poor women is just sitting there, and getting regular therapy, speech and on her muscles, is important. One of the few plot lines that I think has really mnissed the mark...

Carlos, would there be any reason NOT to be starting the therapy already?

I so don't want the little guy to be found to have messed with the wine. Hate when they use kids like that - and Auggie wouldn't care if it was a child or not if he found out and wanted vengeance.

i wonder if the lapiz y papel idea would work if they put the pencil in her mouth and the paper at her reach since her arms seem to be affected by the injury as well. WHATEVER but AT LEAST TRY ANYTHING that will let her communicate, like telling her to blink once/twice and start mentioning names to her to see if she can tell you at least who hit her!!. then work your way, Hono to see what she found out before the attack regarding Gina and Fina...

CAP'N SYLVIA - Great recap;
very detailed. Thanks for all of your dedicated work on this.

I don't know why I watch this; I mostly fast forward. Like many others, I want to scream at most of the characters. I agree with all those who think some kind of therapy should be done for Coni. We too did the pencil and paper thing with a family member a while back. Perhaps she could not write coherently, but if she got out "Ladron," she's getting there.

I am very disappointed in AH.
He's really going at it with Dr. T
in spite of his professed love for Renata whom he brutally tortured.

Whatever happened to his plan of pursuing her at all costs -
especially after Renata has been
rather attentive to him lately?

Does anyone know about the telenovela upcoming with Sabine M.
in her first role as a protagonist?
I think it's at 6 pm eastern.
The actors look interesting, and I read that the plot may be a bit sophisticated. This would be a welcome change from many others.

I must admit my Spanish is improving from watching, so I guess that's my excuse and my reason although I crave far better.
I think there are many talented actors, but the writers just do not bother to give us the best.

Always enjoy the writing and the comments.

Wonderful recap. I missed the scene with Fina taking her booty to the bank. Sounds like it was worth watching!

I have nothing new to add to the discussion; I am just sharing everyone's frustrations. Regina is the worst! And everyone else is not helping, either.

Why does Regina think she has to do what Fina says? They've got enough evidence to lock Fina up for a long, long time. They can afford bodyguards and such. Why not send the police after Fina? Does Regina think Fina has some secret army on her side?

The brightest spots in the episode were Augie's rage over his ruined wine, and Augie getting punched by Jero. I hope Renata heard how out-of-control ragey he was.

I was thinking it was Arely who messed up the wine, but Roberta would be my second choice. OR, Augie just screwed up and isn't quite the expert he thinks he is.

NOK,

"...these folks are NOT trained in non-verbal communication and are NOT helping the situation."

Heck, these folks aren't all that great at verbal communication.

daisynjay,

"...would there be any reason NOT to be starting the therapy already?"

Yes... this is a telenovela.

At our hospital, her nurse's aide would already have learned Coni's life story, including the details of her recent problems with Honario and Chema without Coni having to utter a word.

Carlos

Julia--Gina is at Fina's mercy for the time being. Fina has threatened to do away with her daughter and others she cares about if she doesn't keep her mouth shut.

Bag 'o Bills--Mexico must not have the same law we do about having to report any cash deposit over a certain amount (what is it $1,000). This would nail her a$$, especially if the bank has a record of the serial numbers of the bills Gina was given turn out to be the same ones Fina wants now to deposit.

I don't think Berta ruined the wine. She's never considered herself a stay at home girl for anyone, so her romp in the hacienda with Augie was just that and they were still at it back in the city. She's not that mad at him, despite knowing she'll never be Senora Augie and is AGAIN getting Renata's leftovers.

Wouldn't it take some time to ruin large vats like that? I don't think its Laz or Carlos. Their desprecio is too recent. Furthermore, Carlos would have let Jero in on it.

Of the other likely suspects who had access, Arely was definitely mad enough at Augie. But, since that was before her reformation through Laz's help, I would discount her, too.

Even though I love the premise of Ponchito being the innocent culprit, I don't think the writers will have Ponchito take the blame. That day, I think he was looking for his mother.

Augie only has himself to blame for not paying enough attention to what was going on in the tanks. Instead he's was busy boinking his novia's sister, buying emeralds for someone that isn't behaving like a loving novia should and fist fighting with his novia's ex whenever se le da la gana. And don't forget, he had the plaga to contend with and protecting his precious stolen sarmiento.

After all this speculation, it'll be fun when we get the revelation.
NOK

its not like Augie would have bothered to install cameras so he could tell someone 'smile! you got on candid camera! BANG BANG!!! (I know, he doesnt do the dirty work himself)'

When was NastyNesme last at Augie's winery? Could he be the culprit? I really doubt it was Carlos or Lazaro. They don't like Augie and he's competition, but they don't play dirty.

The valves or whatever would have had to be messed up for awhile to ruin the wine, I would think, and hasn't Augie been checking things? I still like to think he's just incompetent, or maybe the special grapes just aren't all they're cracked up to be. Or some critter found its way into the vat and died.

Thanks for a great recap. I wasn't sure that was Chema's apartment. There were so many pastries, I thought it could be some anti-Starbucks place. This is why Chema can't die! Pastries! They've killed off enough people. Save him for Julieta.

And I'm a little worried about Ponchito too. Hopefully he doesn't get found out until Renata is back in Baja and can see how Augie reacts. He's definatly capable of beating a child. It'll give Ezeke a chance to step up. But this is why children shouldn't be allowed around good wine.

Amy, I can't believe you saw Jan in the Pan from MST 3000. The Brain that Wouldn't Die was my favorite schlock "horror" film until someone turned me onto "The Manster". That's all I'll say about it.

Rosemary LO, indeed I agree with you and Lila. Berta was about to spill the half-sister beans until Nata finished her sentence. Arghhhh!

Rosemary #1, I looked for a good shrimp soup recipe but didn't find one I liked. If you hit on a winner please share, willya?

Marta, thank you for filling in the big gaps. I kind of got the gist of Jero's plan but was missing some of the details.

NOK, of course a real vintner would have been checking the vats. Maybe Augi has been, ahem, preoccupied?

Valeena, you need to get yourself to Ensenada pronto. With your expertise you'll have Coni communicating in no time. Hey, aren't you going to move to Baja anyway?

Floridia, great to hear from you! I don't blame you for fast forwarding, but listening will definitely improve your comprehension. Especially for all those very useful stock telenovela phrases.

Julia, wouldn't it be a hoot if Augie screwed up his own wine? I would love that.

Hooray! Tonight's episode just started here...

Adriana chooses Matias, I'm convinced... but I smell a "sympathy noviazgo" coming on--Adriana finding out about Chema's diagnosis just before she dumps him and not being able to do it. Sheesh. Just my prediction, as annoyed as it would make me...

Was anyone else amazed at how quickly he whipped up the fancy pastry buffet?? Buzzing on the side effects of the migraine meds, maybe?
