Oh Dear...sorry to hear both kids were sick. That DOES add up to a sleepless night.

I was out last night and was hoping for a recap to catch me up on what I missed. Anybody who saw it feel inspired to do a "mini"? Hope so.

So sorry Jules. I hope the kids get well soon. Let me see, here’s what I remember:

In Wine Country:
-Jero and Nata snottily wish each other well in their new relationships. Jero says that the difference is that 1) Marina never lied to him. (This ticks Nata off to no end as she once again tells him she never lied to him.) and 2) Marina is a good woman but Augie is a bad man. (Being that she is already ticked off and jealous, Nata refuses to listen to any slander against Augie who has been nothing but goof and honest with her._
-The Padre comes to invite Augie and Nata personally to his birthday bash which will also serve as a big celebration to cheer up the town and raise money for those affected by the storm. Nata immediately accepts and promised a big donation from her and Augie, totally unaware that Augie was about to refuse both. He then gives her an earful about how she doesn’t want him to make decisions for her, so she shouldn’t do it for him. She apologizes and says she will just go by herself and make her own donation once she gets access to cash, but Augie doesn’t want to lose face that way and says he’s on board. Berta is highly amused by this and goads Augie a bunch of times during the episode that Nata will never be controlled by him. He vows she will and he and Berta get busy.
-Nata blows off going to the beach with Berta and Augie in order to take Padre back to town and to pick out a typical Mexican regional ethnic costume for the fundraiser fashion show they will hold during the nig b-day bash.
-While there, she immediately picks the costume that Marina supposedly picked earlier. The Padre insists that she take it, and then pumps her for info about her religious annulment. Nata says she’s started the paperwork, but the decision is up to the Church.
-Matilde runs away and takes a bus out of town to avoid Carlos having to choose her over his parent. Because she’s an orphan, she knows how important it is to have that relationship. The whole Bonita gang, plus Marina, go looking for her in town and enlist the help of Padre. Since she’s there too, Nata offers to help, even though Jero rudely tells her to take a hike and they don’t need her.

Thanks Vivi. That was great. Love the storm brewing between Renata and Augie. Sounds like another potential storm between Marina and Renata. Too sad about Matilde but we knew that was coming. Carlos to the rescue no doubt.

I can’t remember the city stuff that well. Here’s my try:
-Fina talks to Berta, who tells her where she and Nata are. Fina wants Berta to come back to the city quick, so that she can put the next stage of her plan into action.
-Antonio’s breaking it off with Fina and is leaving town.
-Gonzo assures Gina that Cata would have eventually approved of their relationship. They are on track to get married soon.
-Both Chema and Adri are totally confused about what they feel for each other and that hot kiss. Chema thinks it’s because Connie has been distant lately.
-Connie and Hon see each other in the prison and declare their love and mutual forgiveness of each other.
-Matias and Adri are cute together, cuddling, tickling and kissing. She is still thinking about Chema’s hot kiss, but is still enjoying Matias’ kisses.
-Matias arranges for Adri to meet Hit & Run Girl and her big sister. The meeting goes well. The girls commiserate about having lost their mothers.
-The charges are brought against Blanca, and all her aliases, and she shouts and rants like the crazy person she is. She’s pulled this kind of fraud many times before and is wanted in a number of Mexican states.
-A psychiatrist examines Blanca to determine if she’s crazy. She does a pretty good job of faking (?) multiple personality disorder. Gonzo thinks she may be crazy, but not enough so to declare her too insane to stand trial. Everything she’s done is too calculated to have been done by an insane person.

*nothing but good and hinest with her...

Not goof. :)

Oh my God. I cannot type today!

Ah Jules - sorry for your long night. You are off to a good start, though, with the title. Captured it perfectly.

Judy - I could not improve on Vivi's mini re-cap as my language skills are still not there, BUT I was planning on commenting to you today anyway to thank you for that inspirational message you posted who-knows-when on the "Care and Feeding of Recappers" link. Going through CME withdrawals on Labor Day, I pulled that up and saw where you replied to an older lady who wasn't confident she could pick up the language. I, too, struggle and wonder why it is taking so long, but your kind, encouraging message got to me. I will plug along here and maybe one of the next times you need a mini-recap, it will come from me! Thank you!

I had a slightly different take than Vivi on Adri's kisses. She is still basking in the glow of Chema's kiss, but she kissed Matias with her big eyes open and darting around like she was watching a fly.

I like that Berta hung up on her mother.

Didn't realize Tony was blowing Fina off. Happy about that--if she lets it happen.

At least Jero isn't being over the top nasty to Nata. I'm trying to keep in mind how charming he was when he was wooing her not so long ago. That's the Jero I like.

And speaking of Jero. It seems so out of character for him to keep Dr. N's death a secret (as some of viewerville thinks). I would think he wouldn't be able to resiste charging right in and making a fuss. It IS in character for him to selfishly keep it a secret from Laz and Kari who it most closely concerns. It may be TN logic and I'll just have to go with it.

Robey

I like Chema and Adri together. Matias can have Hit and Run sister.

Robey

Not to worry Jules and thanks Vivi!

I am in the proverbial 'Hog Heaven'! I did get to see CME on Justintv last night by doing a search at that site for 'Univision'. I then found the Univision Pacifico carrying it in real time! I was thrilled!! Two in a row. I hope my luck does not give out.

Batty Blanca has the psychiatrist completely snowed. I fully believe she is faking that multiple personality disorder bit. The chica is a sicko. She's done this so many times it just comes naturally to her. it would be so wrong for her to get away with all she has done because of 'insanity'.

I keep thinking of Gonzo's lawyer...what's his name..Soto? What will happen when Gonzo and Matias find out that it was their very own attorney who helped Malafina trap Matias into that 10 year marriage with Big Mouth Berta? That brick surely has to fall sometime.

I'm feeling badly for Matias. First, he loses Renata, now that he has finally decided his feelings for Adri, she is in a quandry about her own feelings! Somehow, the Hit and Run sisters just seem too boring for him.

The sister who did hit Adri surely did not seem too repentant to me. Will be interesting to see where that goes.

Augie Doggie is showing his controlling ways more and more. I hope it comes to a head very soon.

Thank you again, Vivi.

@Rosemary la otra...thanks for reading the Care and Feeding of Recappers. And so glad what I wrote about learning at any age was encouraging.

Also, it's a wonderful reminder that whatever we say on this blog, kind or unkind, helpful or discouraging,is there forever. Words can build up or tear down.

What I did (and still do) is jot down phrases or just words from the Spanish CC's. If I don't know them, I look them up in my big Oxford dictionary or my Streetwise Spanish Survival book. That has really helped my understanding over the last few years.

Generating the language with Spanish speakers is harder (fear of making mistakes, slower memory retrieval), but slowly I'm getting a little better.

So go for it! Nothing to lose and wonderful things to gain.

Thanks all, and sorry about the sick little ones. They must come first and hope they are feeling so much better.

With not being able to watch, every little bit helps. Boy I would have loved to see BSC rant and rave.

As for Adri, hey, I can understand basking in the glow of that kiss...but I digress.

My five minutes of break are up, so back to the meetings. Thanks again all for your updates!

Jules, I'm sorry about the sick kids. I must admit that business is always good this time of year when the kids go back to school.

We had our share of excitement last night. My daughter and her family were forced to evacuate because of the wild fires in Magnolia and so she and their dogs and cats ended up at our house. She took 2 of her horses to a safe location and my son-in-law rode the remaining horse out himself and ended up being interviewed on the evening news. Everything is OK and their house is safe... for now.

I even felt sorry for Chema last night as he sent out a plaintive text to Connie... but not too sorry... he's going to end up with Adri. My heart goes out to Matias... hope he likes the hit-n-run girls.

I'm a little annoyed with Mati for running away, but it will serve the plot development.

My Mr. I is Gonzo for insisting on a wedding... RIGHT NOW!

Blanca does a great crazy... reminds me of an afternoon I spent in psychiatry clinic when I was in med school.

My favorite scene was in the avances with Renata and Augie shouting at each other... good.

Carlos

Dr. Carlos: I feel very badly for not having asked you sooner if you and yours were safe. I am relieved to hear that your daughter and her crew all got out safely.

I hope that you are doing well in your area and that the wretched fires are not anywhere near you. The state of Texas has, indeed, had a most miserable summer.

I hope it ends soon for all of you, my friend.

Susanita

Thanks for your concern Susanita. I'm so glad that you're getting to watch the episodes now.

I only took time to watch CME last night, so I'm behind on Hija del Mariachi, Alborada and la Pola. Maybe tomorrow I can catch up.

Poor Jerry just insists on showing his butt. I'm afraid he's off his meds again.

Carlos

Sick kids are part of motherhood. Motherhood before Novelarecapperhood. Hope the ninitos are better soon.

After being away for two weeks and trying to catch up reading recaps on the fly and having a marathon run of what I had taped before our hurricane-induced black-out last week, I have nothing but super commendations for all the recappers and commenters. It was easy to visualize all the action through your words.

So, here is my only comment (after losing power again today for just two hours this time)--about the theft of the vine from back in episode of 8-24 (I think), if anybody really cares.

Guera had it right. "Auggie & Dr. Nasty snuck into La Bonita and broke into the cage which had Rafa's special imported vinestock locked in. Auggie stole a cutting from the valuable vine which until then had been the exclusive property of Rafa."

I caught Dr. Jailbird using the word "sarmiento." I looked it up because it is the name of an important 19th C. Argentine journalist and 7th president of Argentina, Domingo Sarmiento (1868-74).

The root word must be sarment--
1. sarmentar, v.=to gather pruned vine-shoots
2. sarmentera, n.=place for pruned vine-shoots
3. sarmentillo, n.=slender vine-shoot
4. sarmentoso -sa, a.= full of vine-shoots
5. sarmiento, n.=vine-shoot or runner.

Not that there are many occasions to use them in a conversation...but, for WIW.

If anyone saw A Walk in the Clouds, the vineyard patriarch kept his original vine stock up on a hill in a protected place which didn't burn in the fire. He was able to give Keanu Reeves a cutting from the mother plant to start his own vineyard.

I can see why Rafael would want to keep his mother-stock under lock and key (competition was fierce), but since it needs water and sun, hence the cage.

Carlos- Tried to send you and the other Texans a note earlier when I was away from my laptop, but it wasn't going through from my phone. I'm glad to hear that you and the family are safe.

Carlos-- Glad your family and their animals got out safely. Love the image of the son-in-law riding his horse to shelter. Apparently the local news guys loved the image as well.

Jules -- I hope the kids are back in form today. Two sick kids is never fun.

Vivi -- thanks for stepping in. It was very complete.

I agree with Susanita that the younger sister -- the actual hit and runner looked very blase about the whole thing. I see why her father & sister are trying to get her to own up to her responsibilities. She doesn't seem too sorry. Even the small move of grabbing the first drink the moment Cons put it down showed a self centeed streak.

I agree that Adri & Chema are headed for more kisses. How will it play out? Will Mathias end up with the hit and run older sister? Will Adri & Mati explore those other partners and then end up together at the end? Will Adri & Chema become a hot item and then his deadly illness (predicted by some of us after his dizzy spell last week) take him from her and leave her bereft and only consoled by Mati so that they end up back together again? Or is that it? One kiss and - pfft -- all over???

Dr. Carlos: You are TOO funny, but you are SO right. Jero is off his meds. :))

NOK: I LOVE what you wrote about 'sarmiento'. Now, this will stay with me forever! Thank you so much. Honestly, my vocab grows by leaps and bounds on our Caray,Caray!!
I can almost understand all of the nightly news in Spanish!!!

Susanita

Jules, I hope the kiddos are much better. You are a terrific Mom and they will remember your loving kindness while we will be very very grown up and take care of ourselves. Besides, Vivi gave a most excellently succinct while thorough summary of the most important points.

Dr. Carlos I am happy for the successful excape of your daughter and family. Sounds like they had their heads together. After living with smoke from Arizona and New Mexico fires, I was almost shocked to find out the Texas fires have actually been burning longer and are still out of control. It is kind of hard to watch New England and the Atlantic coast suffer from way too much water. We should learn to share better. (If only we could). How about Audrey, is your area in any danger? I think you are still in the northwest? Be well all.

Jero needs meds, hit-and-run sisters need personalities, but I am glad that Adriana is getting a surplus of kisses, she is so deserving.

I only want for Renata to catch BMBerty and AngerManagementFlunkee in their reindeer games.

Rosemary, I actually found BSCBlanca's bad acting of bad acting really quite annoying. But it will be interesting to see if she seduces the young psychiatrist with her facesofEve workout.

Carlos - What a scare for you last night, but how fun to have your SIL on the news! Was he wearing a pair of those Matias riding pants?

I totally agree with Carlos that Gonzo was Mr. I last night. Why would he do that? She still had on her black dress!

The Sybil Blanca devil-voice scenes were goosebump worthy. A bit scary.

Please let Renata get away from Auggie sooner than later. Somehow until yesterday I'd missed his face during the opening song. The way he grabs Renata's arm and that awful mouth in a huge upside down U.

I thought the new break-away-to-commercial picture of Roberta was so sad. I do despise everything she does, but I pity her even more given the awful mom she's had. I wish she could just break away and re-evaluate her life. You know... kinda Eat, Pray, Love style.

Daisy - You MUST find a way to watch the Adri / Chema kiss. Ahhhh. We can wear our I Heart Chema tees with pride and longing.

RLO

Don't mind me, this is just a late evening check-in! Here's hoping your kids get well quickly, Jules.

Blanca was trying to pull a Sybil to plea insanity? Well, she's certainly loca just not *that* kind. I bet this psychologist is going to be another Doc who is easily bought. There's no way we've seen the last of Blanca's battiness.

I'm warming up to the idea of Adriana and Chema. They are pretty cute together. Agreed that, if Julieta gets more of a personality, she would be a nice fit with Matias. The writers have me curious where they're going with this one...

Also, how sweet that Connie and Hon made up somewhat. Hopefully we will be on the upswing to a reconciliation in a few weeks.

Amy

Thanks for thinking of me Cheryl! Right - no fires up here in the northwest, but I was a little worried after my brother told me about the fires near Austin. So I checked a Texas wildfire map today - http://ticc.tamu.edu/Response/FireActivity/

No fires in the Rio Grande Valley right now - thank goodness! But east of Austin and East Texas - wow! They have it bad!

Audrey

Hi Jules, no worry about the no recap. Gotta say your title is a hoot. Sorry to hear about the sick kiddies. I seem to recall my sis and I always used to get sick together. Poor moms!

Is it Thursday morning already? Where did yesterday go? Sorry to be so late for the party.

Vivi, you are a gem for posting your not-so-mini cap. I am impressed at your memory.

NOK, fascinating analysis of sarmiento. Thank you for your time and research and for sharing with us.

Carlos, Wow, that is some drama for your family. I wondered about you and all my other Texas friends when I read/heard about the fires. Please keep us posted and I hope things continue to be OK for your loved ones.
