Cuando Me Enamoro #126 Friday 10/14/11 In Which Everyone is Having Babies, Making Babies, or Acting Like Babies.

*Last part of the title in reference to Augie and Berta. Everyone else was pleasantly well-behaved tonight.

Feliz Viernes, amigos! I had to drop off the radar this week because la vida real kept getting in the way of my Caray time. Just as well, since it's only made me even more pumped for tonight's episode. Vámonos!

Jero crawls out from under the leaden weight of the latest anvil. He can hardly believe that Marina is pregnant but Nata assures him that Maritata confirmed it herself.

Marina scolds Agustin for gossiping about her personal life to Nata. Augie offers to help Mari get back together with Jero but she wants nothing to do with him (Augie). Just outside the office, a fieldworker flags Ezequiel down because Alfonsina just went into labor. Marina accompanies Zeke to help with the birth.

Gonzo talks Regina into moving into Misery Manor. He hopes that Regi's presence will turn the place into Contentment Casa. Gonzo plans to leave the house to Nata instead of Fina and Regi approves. Honorio and Detective Manriquez interrupt to debrief them on Fina. She's eluded them so far but the feds have a hunch that Fina has stayed close to town so she can keep in contact with Berta. Everyone agrees to stay alert for any signs of Fina.

Augie stews in his office. If he had a mustache, he'd be twirling it right now. He thinks Marina is a fool for not using her baby to steal Jero back. Augie decides that if Mari won't pressure Jero, Augie himself will make sure that this baby tears Nata away from Jero. He flashes back to creepily macking on Nata while she was unconscious. Yuck, spare me.

Nata and Jero sit by the fountain and have a surprisingly civil discussion. Jero vows that he will support his child but he does not want it to interfere in his relationship with Nata. He gives Nata his word that he will not abandon his child the way Nata's father abandoned her. They embrace and process their emotions.

Over at the hacienda, Alfonsina is in heavy labor. Karina coaches her through it while Lazaro watches uncomfortably. He is all too glad for the excuse to run off for the doctor.

Jero promises to Nata that they will work through this new phase of their lives together. Nata admits she didn't bring luggage with her because she thought she would be returning to Mexico that night. Jero kisses Nata and convinces her to send for her stuff so she can stay at the hacienda. He agrees to talk to Marina as soon as possible.

Alfi is having a tough time of it and there's still no sign of the doctor. Lazaro is volun-told to help the nurse deliver the baby. After a few more pushes, a miraculously clean baby girl is born. Felicidades!

We cut away to Adriana and Matias riding a four wheeler in the desert and taking breaks to make out amongst the cacti.

Mariana arrives (just in time to be useless) with Ezequiel in tow. He positively melts while holding his new daughter. Alfonsina decides to name the baby Luz María because she is the light of her parents' lives. Karina and Lazaro are both honored to be Baby Luz's godparents. D'aww.

A be-wigged Fina stands in front of a church while accompanied by ominous music. As though we needed more evidence that she's the devil.

Berta has lunch with Regina and Gonzo. They tell her about the plan to give the Monterrubio Manse to Nata. Berta scoffs that Nata is hardly getting left out since Jero is a millionaire. Gonzo wants Nata to have some independence and piece of mind. Plus, Gonzo and Regi are going to move into the Manse after the wedding. Berta is clearly unhappy at the news about their living conditions but is saved by the ringtone. Nata asks Berta to her send a suitcase and wants Berta to pack the emerald necklace that Augie gave her. Nata wants to return it.

Alone in her room, Berta vows Nata's happiness will be short-lived. She calls Augie to call him an idiot for not separating Nata and Jero sooner. Augie gets all jaw-jutty when Berta tells him that Jero and Nata are getting lovey dovey over at La Bonita.

Adriana and Matias take a boat ride, smooch, stand on the deck, smooch some more, go fishing, smooch again. You get the idea.

Jero visits Alfonsina's room and congratulates Zeke and Alfi. He asks for a moment in private with Marina. She knows what he wants to talk about but Mari can't have that conversation yet. She promises to call.

Nata runs into Karina in town and the two catch up. Later, Jero meets up with Nata to tell her about his (lack of) conversation with Marina. Nata is uneasy and can't stand to lose Jero again. Jero will never let that happen. Augie rattles a fence in anger nearby.

Adriana and Matias's day on the beach hits a bump when their boat breaks down. They have to stay in a bungalow overnight until the boat can be fixed. Adri and Mat curl up near the fireplace, exchange sweet nothings, and let the clothes come off.

Lazaro makes Manuela swear not to tell Kari that Reanimated Man is still walking amongst the living. Manuela tells Laz to stop overprotecting Kari; it will only cause more pain. Let Kari decide for herself! Matilde agrees with Manuela and they threaten to tell Kari if he doesn't. Lazaro says that he should be the only one to tell Kari the truth.

Honorio arrives home with Adriana's birth certificate, which now lists him as her father. She is now legally recognized as his daughter. Both he and Constanza are thrilled but decide to wait to tell Adriana in person.

Carlos is happy hear that Jero is back together with Nata. Though the situation with Marina isn't exactly ideal, Jero is excited about becoming a father.

Alfonsina and Baby Luz are resting comfortably in bed and Zeke steps out for a minute to find Ponchito. Alfi questions Marina about her relationship with Jero and Mari bursts into tears. She tells Kari and Alfi about her pregnancy but asks them not to mention it to anyone.

That night, Nata admits to Jero that it was Augie who told her about Marina, who later confirmed it herself. Jero is sure that Augie told her to try to break them up. Nata doesn't want to believe that Augie is a bad person. She and Jero canoodle on the bed. When Jero steps out to take a shower, Nata prays that everything will go well and that she will have the strength to handle the future.

Avances: Fina and Berta talk over the phone and Augie beats on his chest while shouting "Your place is with me!" (if you missed it, this clip is hysterical).

Vocab:

dar a luz - to give birth
estuche - case
arrancar - to tear, to pull (in context, "to start" a boat)
sobreproteger - to overprotect

Amy Azul, What a marvelous recap and hysterically true title. I appreciate seeing this recap up so quickly. I am leaving for the Bisti Badlands with a troop of photographers to photograph this bad place.

Speaking of bad place, how does Fina shop for new wigs and not get seen. And how is she paying for them? We haven't seen her get back to the bank. Maybe an ATM or a credit card, but she sure does have a lot of clothes and different looks. It's a bit disconcerting that the comandante is sure she is near and keeping in touch with Berta but no one seems to watch Berta closely.

I am still hoping for Constanza to get her tongue back so she can spill Roberta's secret.

However I am loving all the lovely loving scenes. Adriana so happy is a treat and Matias has returned to his sweet nature as someone noticed yesterday.

The baby delivery was really neat and I think good old Laz has been shamed or scared into telling Kari the truth before his sister and godmother do it for him. I loved their rational that he has no right to treat Kari as though she is stupid but should let her make up her own mind. Looks like DrNotQuiteDirt is going to scare her half to death with his reappearance. I hope her heart is pretty strong.

Have a great weekend all, I know I will. I'll check in Sunday night to see what clever things you have all cooked up. Ciao.

I'm also going to guess that Dr Death is going to bust out and go after Kari before anyone has a chance to tell her the truth at this point.

I can't imagine why she ever thought she had to stay married to this abusive creep.

Augustin is just as bad -- or worse because he's more intelligent and less delusional. Which makes him more dangerous in the overall. As far as I'm concerned the way he treats Renata he's marinating her for a barbecue. And who wants to bet me she will be pregnant within another three episodes?

Awesome Amy. Thanks for getting the recap up so early. With one of the kiddies home for the weekend, this is my only down time until later today. Great way to enjoy an early coffee.

Fun episode last night and hurray, the baby is healthy. So loved how the little one just stared at Laz and was so mesmerized. Yes,order little Luz Maria a "I Heart Laz" tee in extra extra small pronto.

Knew Berta would be ticked about the house. But wait until she tells Mama. And if they suspect that Fina is trying to stay in touch with Berta, why aren;t they looking into Berta's cell, etc? Ok, I guess they are all convinced she's a sweet innocent right now. Lovely.

Loving the mature way that Nata is handling the pregnancy and how she and Jero are working together to deal with the issue.(And I'm watching for the dual pregnancy plot now too). Locals might be tough on both of them feeling bad for the Doc, but they'll be mild compared to Auggie.

I'm with you, that preview of his Alpha Male Gorilla imitation was absolutely hysterical. Now we know this guy has a few screws loose and is totally coming unhinged. Nata thinking Auggie couldn't be bad gives me a bad feeling he is going to do something that convinces her otherwise, and it won't be pretty.

Everyone have a great weekend. Dodging the wind warnings and heading out with the kid. Check in later!!

@UA....Oh no! are you predicting another dual pregnancy and babies of one father born on the same day...just like Renata and Roberta?! Ay yi yi...perish the thought.

@Amy...rollicking good title and you always kick off the first paragraph with such energy. I love it. Other favorites:

Jero crawl out from under the leaden weight of the latest anvil.

Augie stews in his office. If he had a mustache, he'd be twirling it right now.

Just a fun read altogether. Beats the dreary morning news by a mile. Thanks Amy and have a great weekend...and maybe even study a little. Nah...I take that back. Just relax.

Amy- I loved the title and all the wonderful lines Judy mentioned. Wonderful recap!

And, yes, that flash of Augie going apesh!t in his hacienda ws hilarious, as was seeing him angrily rattling that gate behind a kissing Nata and Jero. He looks more and more like an angry ape each episode. But when he's in front of Nata he has to keep it all under control.

Daisynjay- Yes, I am sure that before this thing wraps up, Nata will be on the receiving end of Augie's full rage, and it won't be pretty. I do love how he's foiled at every turn when he thinks people will react in the way typical tn characters do, and they don't. LOL! Nata refuses to get ticked off and leave Jero over the pregnancy thing, and Marina refuses to become his ally in using her baby to separate Jero and Nata.

As I am a total believer that the writers will continue with the parallels between the older generation and the younger (specifically Jero and Nata), I am also certain that Nata will end up pregnant soon. The Nata-Jero-Marina story will be a combination of Pepa-Roberto-Gina and Agatha-Hon-Con.

So far our main couple is handling a difficult situation well. They are even arguing better-- in a loving, non-abusive, non-angry way. That whole scene on the bed was them arguing, but they kept it light and loving and basically agreed to disagree on some things.

NOK- I think you pointed out yesterday that Nata didn't put her bag down in the house. I think her admission that she didn't pack a suitcase because she thought she was likely going to be going right back to D.F. supports your theory about the purse. She did not expect to stay. I think she is doubting whether or not she'll be able to handle the situation (although she is). I found her prayer for peace and strength to be very touching and it rang very true.

Amy, gracias como siempre. Loved the title. I too am still laughing at Agustin's chest thumping "your place is with ME! from the previews. But I'm not liking the preview shot of an up and shaved and set-of-jaw Nesme. He is about to cause big problemos, I fear. Even with Jero & Nata. The big thing with her is that the new basis of their love is total honesty -- that and her total blindness when it comes to Agustin. That secrecy-in-order-to-skewer-Auggie-on-his-misdeeds combo may drive another wedge between Jero & Nata.

Chery, I liked your new addition to the Nesme name list- DrNotQuiteDirt as well as your reference Amy -- Reanimated Man

Other favorite lines -- Misery Manor to Contentment Casa -- and --Lazaro is volun-told to help the nurse deliver the baby.

Boyo! For a premature baby that was one large, clean girl -- and with no umbilical cord. I always get frustrated by these birth scenes. They did a realistic job with Alfonsina's labor, Kari's coaching Laz & the nurse catching -- then they go all fairy tale on us with the impossibly huge preemie.

Anyway -- nice episode wonderfully recapped. I will savor how our couple (as you said Amy) embrace and process their emotions" and the (for now) comic evil outbursts of Auggie. Thanks again

Güera

@Gúera...you're right about the unrealistic baby but I'm actually glad that Televisa isn't about to grab somebody's premature infant, slather them all over with goo and then film them.

I was always very disturbed by the endless photos of a supposedly ill baby in an isolette crying his lungs out during Teresa. I wanted to jump right through the screen, pick him up and say stop doing this to the poor child!

Amy, wow wow WOW! What a recap. It is clever, snappy, and moves along at a clip. My favorite lines have already been mentioned but I'll second the motion on "from Misery Manor to Contentment Casa". That one had me rolling on the floor.

The baby is adorable. I'm thinking Alfonsina might have gotten pregnant earlier than she realized so maybe the baby is not such a preemie after all. Hopefully the baby will be fine.

Regarding Fina's money situation, remember she opened her own bank account under her maiden name with all the ransom money. Unless this is discovered she's got plenty of money that she can withdraw as cash. Speaking of frustrating investigators, why aren't they interviewing the staff of the only bank in the DF? If they discover Fina's secret account surely they can freeze it and return the money to Regina, right?

Amy, thanks again. I simply adore your recap and will have to watch a couple of scenes over again to re-enjoy them.

Dearest AmyAzul - I loved your re-cap! Funny, funny title that I read before watching the show, so I was so happy you made a sidenote that the ones acting like babies were Roberta and Augie. My heart stopped for a sec thinking it was Renata and Jero acting bad. Again.

Thanks for the vocab words. I really try to memorize those.
Loved the image of Augie twirling a mustache, and loved "as if we needed more evidence that Fina is the devil".

Looks like Fina has lost some weight, giving me just another reason to despise her.

Alfonsina's pregnancy was sure a quick one. When she passed out in the fields 2 weeks ago she was still wearing her tight fitting bosom busting camiseta with nary a baby bump. And yet the baby looked like an 8 pounder.

Adri standing up in the boat made me very uncomfortable. Anyone who remembers who unathletic running after Blanca (pre hit-and-run) would encourage her to sientese before she goes overboard in that pretty dress.

Which bedroom was Renata in? Hers that she was brandished to before, or back in Jero's?

The avances of Augie were so funny! Since this show is so good on montage flashbacks, maybe they can do one highlighting his many jutjaw moments. But what song for the background music?

Guys... I may have been on to something yesterday when I mentioned Antonio having an opportunity to spill the true beans to Regina (but I'm still not sure if Fina ever told him that Renata is the one she kidnapped). There was a brief shot of him in the avances.

I wonder what is making Inez and Coni say "Que?" / "Como?" with such intensity?

Thanks again, AmyAzul. You always give us such a great re-cap to hash over all weekend long!

Rosemary la Otra

Rosemary - I hadn't caught the quick glimpse of He-Who-Has-No-Expression (aka Antonio). Figured he may make a comeback at some point. Thanks for pointing that out. Interesting turn.

Also forgot to mention this morning: Did anyone else find it sort of a chuckle moment watching Adri and Matias start to get down and...well you know, the very next day after the rather long PSA conversation on waiting for said you-know-what. Beanie got a little tight on that one.

Oh...also forgot. In the U.S., on network TV or film sets, you cannot use children under 3 months old for filming. (Reality TV does not apply, but the parents have to sign waivers). Had a friend i the business who explained that one to me. Also very serious restrictions on time on set - why you see twins used so much. Would Mexico possibly have the same restrictions? Might explain all these chubby, healthy premmies we keep seeing.

Yes, Daisy, I did wonder if the PSA was "Wait 12 hours" before getting to it. I am hoping it was just a nice necking session. If it is like Jero and Maritata we may never see evidence of the deed until she has a happy healthy baby 18 episodes later.

I always wondered why we have to see an actual baby at all. On stage they just ooh and aah over a bundle of blankets & no one sees what's inside.

I know, I know I'm obsessing but this has always bothered me.

Regarding Adri and Matias- Well, it IS a woman's prerogative to change her mind, and a day of canoodling, a warm fire, and an isolated cabin seem to have tipped the scales. Anyway, it's not like she and Matias are strangers. They've known each other for years. She was just uncertain that he really loved her or just saw her as a consolation prize. A night of cuddling seems to have opened her eyes to his love. :)

When Alfi was just put on bedrest, Kari mentioned how it was just like when Alfi was pregnant with her son Poncho the first time. She didn't show at all the many months till almost the end of her pregnancy, and then, poof, she started showing all of a sudden. I think that was the day they finally made the actress wear the fake belly in bed. I thought it was funny at the time. But there is a strange accelerated soap opera time happening here. When this tn first started it in the present time, it was just at Nata and Berta's 24th b-day. Now they are saying we are just a few months away from their 25th. So almost a year has gone by.

Sorry for the duplicated posts. Blogger went a little crazy on me.

They didn't slather goo on this baby, but they did show an umbilical cord which Kari cut. That was good enough for me and that baby is very cute.

I didn't hear (interpret) that their 25th birthdays were coming up. Oh, how I love telenovela parties! I was fortunate enough to turn in to CME for the very first time the night of Matias' party where Diego dropped the pics out of a helicopter. How's that for a first glimpse of the show. Of course I was hooked right away!

It said in my Spanish People mag that Sylvia N is actually 33. Good for her playing 24! She credits her youthfulness to hydration, exercise and, of course, Garnier.

That's the great thing about being an actor/actress R la O. Getiing to play many ages.

It's funny that no one has ever mentioned the big age difference between Nata and Jero. Jero is a man in his mid-late 30s. (They mentioned the age diff between Art and Teresea all the time in Teresa.) He was Matia's professor and mentor in Spain. And here he is getting involved with and marrying a young woman in her early 20s. Sure, she's not a child, but you would have thought someone would have mentioned it, like Gonzo or Matias.

Well, see Vivi, it's only a big deal if the sexes are reversed, like Chema and Coni.

Jarocha mentioned some time ago that Silvia N. was a guest on a Mexican sex talk show earlier in the year. Her candor earned her some problems in the press. The show is called Miembros al Aire and is a popular guys’ sex talk show, hosted by famous actors, musicians, etc. The guest is always a female star and the guys do their best to cause the women to blush with their double entendres and openness on taboo subjects. I’ve watched a few of the other episodes and even the ladies that hold their own with these guys never succeed in making one of the hosts blush like Silvia does. She’s totally one of the guys. It’s hilarious watching her flirt with newly single host/singer Leonardo. She is egged on by the other hosts, including our favorite Raul Araiza (Beto from Gancho), aka Negro. They talk a bit about the play she was in at that time, All My Sons. The only other single host, aside from Leo, is the big guy they call El Burro. The nicknames they call Silvia are Chiva/Chivis/Silvita. A lot of the jokes will go right over us non-Spanish speakers' heads, but it’s still funny all the same. Part 3 is the best.

Part 1: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WmZNezyH-c&feature=related
Part 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbPnylZAHlU&feature=related
Part 3: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3332cHI3rc&feature=related
For some reason Part 3 leaves out the lead up to the surprise kiss Silvia gives Leo, so watch Part 4 (which overlaps with 3) starting at Minute 4 to see how the other hosts convince Silvia to steal a kiss from Leo. Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sge5m4A2aAk

How fun, Vivi! Thank you for sharing. I watched #4 (for the kiss). I really couldn't understand much, but did pick up "con penetracion", so evidently Sylvia is more comfortable than I talking with a group of men, on TV, about sex.

Does anyone else suspect Matias set up that stranding on purpose? It was a little toooo convenient, especially with the bungalow (I love how they pronounce that) nearby and his "well, since we're here" eyebrow-waggling response. Oh, well, at least Adri's into it. If it were Renata stranded with Augie, things would be very grim.

I thought it was hysterical when the dudhound gang was talking about how clever Fina has been in evading capture. No, idiots, actually she sucks at being sneaky, but fortunately for her, your crew sucks even more at noticing when she's right in front of them or freezing her bank accounts.

Thanks for a great recap. Perfect title, too. Augie and Berta really do have the mindset of a two-year-old.

Hey Julia...just took a look at your Good,Bad or Ugly blog. Very interesting. You are a multi-talented lady.

Amy, sorry I'm late but allow me to heap a bit more praise for your excellent recap and perfect title. What a fantastic job.

Glad to see that Adri took her time in yielding to temptation... what self-control... wouldn't want to rush into anything.

Must have been something in the air Friday... on Hija del Mariachi, Rosita and Emiliano finally took the the big step shortly after she got drunk and sang to him Rata de Dos Patas with sincerity.

Looks like things are going to liven up with the return of the living dead. Maybe prison's mellowed the Doc.

I'm hoping that he has vengeance in mind but I'm afraid that it's lustful obsession instead.

I'll skip commenting on the premature delivery but I'm glad Alfonsina's baby arrived safely.

Carlos

Amy thanks for your recap. Yes Roberta and Augie were acting like babies which is par for the course for them.

Like others I do want our police to get a clue and realize Berta and Fina are still in cahoots. Of course, it's too soon and it seems the writers are building up to a crazy wedding with Fina and her gun.

It looks like I'm the only one who found Auggie going ballistic in the previews kind of frightening.

Great recap Amy.

Robey

Robey- Oh, Augie scares me too (although I find his tantrums funny). I am totally worried for Nata and Jero. This is the man who arranged to have Doc Nasty and Arely bumped off, simply because they annoyed him. The fact that Nata refuses to be his woman and refuses to leave Jero is driving him nuts, and he WILL do something horrible to one or both of them.

Vivi: That's what I was thinking. I hope his outburst was while he was alone. He looked like he could murder someone, even Nata, at that point.

Robey

Something that I'm having a difficult time understanding is why the only bank in Mexico hasn't blown the whistle on Fina.

Regina was loaned a zillion dollars by Jerry (apparently one of the owners and directors of the bank) which she promptly withdrew in cash that was placed in a distinctive bag.

That same money is brought in by Fina on the same (or maybe following) day in the same bag and she opens up an account in the same bank with the same bank officer... hmmm...

business as usual in Mexico?

Carlos

Carlos, that very thing has been driving me crazy too. Why did the only bank manager in the DF go all bug-eyed at the bag and then not follow up?

Cheryl: OT. Re: article on best places to retire in US for certain things: "Best place for recreation and culture: Santa Fe, N.M."

Robey

Vivi - I don't like your capitalized WILL, as in "he WILL do something horrible to one or both of them".

I'm scared.

It's only a matter of time R la O. The guy's a ticking bomb.
