Cuando Me Enamoro #130 Thursday 10/20/11 Nun with a gun, nun on the run, the nun is done but there is fun for none.

Many thanks to all you clever commenters for tonight’s title.

I think we are all on Cloud 9 after Kari’s self affirmation announcement last night. I usually fast forward through the previous night’s repeat but I sure enjoyed watching this scene again. Let’s see how long our collective happiness holds out...

Lazaro treats us all with a victory cry for the ages. Rewind. Place another order for an XL I Heart Lazaro shirt to use as jammies. His yell scares the heck out of Manuela, (LOL, poor thing is always getting startled by the loud whippersnappers), and even Mati jumps. Lazaro hugs his way across the room, grabs Kari and passionately accepts her marriage proposal. Kisses and congratulations abound. We are still happy and in fact happier now than a few minutes ago.

Over in the DF Matias and Adri are ready for their announcement. He holds his princesa and announces to the adults that they are engaged. Adri flashes her boulder, the one on her finger I mean, and Matias tells Hons that they want to have a love like his and Cons, a love that lasts for all time. They make a toast (brindis) to love, “Por el amor!” Hons toasts to the women who have agreed to share their lives (existencia).

Kari makes Renata’s day by announcing it was Renata who opened her eyes, who convinced her that Kari was in control of her own happiness. She made a mistake marrying Doc Shouldbesharkchum and she has to forgive herself for that in order to have another chance. Nata agrees that one must forgive oneself in order to forgive others. Her wise daddy says forgiveness can’t get rid of the past but it can change the future. Jero brings out wine for toasting and Kari says Renata has been her inspiration. The way Nata has defended her own happiness in spite of everything has given Kari strength. Jero toasts to the happiness that has returned to La Bonita.

Gina and Berta are enjoying some mother/undaughter time. Gina gushes about the upcoming wedding and Berta skewers the mood by saying isn’t it curious how both Regina and Josephina fell in love with the same men? First her father Roberto and now her father Gonzalo. Gina was married to Roberto and now she’s going to be Gonzo’s THIRD wife. Oopsie, that last bit turned Regina’s smile upside down.

The doorbell rings and Regina comments it must be Inez coming to help her get ready. Berta, still basking in her successful role as wet-blanket-to-the-bride is not even annoyed. Yet. But here is a surprise. It is Jero and Renata come directly from the airport to help Renata get ready for the big day. Regina is thrilled that Nata and her sister will be helping her get ready and happiness once again bathes the room of smiles. However, one smile is merely sheep’s clothing and a bitter scowl peeps out out as Berta thought bubbles how sick she is that in spite of Regina believing Berta is her daughter, Gina continues to love Renata so much, grrr.

Taxi A-94-877 drives up and Fina, in yet another disguise, hops out. The taxista waits while Fina cheerfully saunters into the flower-filled church. She crosses herself, gives the Madonna and Child a backhanded wave, casually cases the joint, faces the M&C, gives them the “what the hell are you looking at?” face, and shrugs. Oooh, she’s bad.

Back at Regina’s, the happy crowd grows with the addition of Inez. Inez burbles about her foundation while Berta makes a sarcastic I-Hate-Goody-Goodies face in the background. Inez can’t resist sharing the info that Adri and Matias are engaged. Renata’s overexuberant glee startles Inez and pains Roberta dreadfully. Inez pronounces that maybe peace and happiness have finally arrived for them all. This really does bring a genuine smile to Roberta’s mug and she thought bubbles “If you only knew!”

A quick change of scenery brings us to the Ruta del Vino, Ensenada, B.C. Marina checks Uncle Padre’s health and he suggests she give up her house and move back in with him. She admits she’s been considering giving up the house but she’s thinking about returning to Mexico City because there’s nothing to keep her there. Padre is insulted, what is he? Chopped liver? He doesn’t like the idea of Marina and her child in the capital with nobody to help her out. She promises to return to the Valle de Guadalupe to have her baby. That way she can be near Uncle Padre and the baby’s father.

Carlos has his eyes closed and is waiting for his surprise. One - Two - Three - Open! Our little Mati is all dressed up in spike heels and a red power suit that would make Gloria Allred jealous. And no headband!! Carlos is in shock, “What did they do to you?” Mati tells him his mother did it to make her a deserving wife for Carlos. She totters and topples over to him and he begs “No, please, where is the Mati I fell in love with?” Mati reasons that Mama Mierda is in town for what, a day or a week? She can play the little game if it will make Mama M happy. Their background music is so loud I can’t hear what they’re saying but actions speak louder than words and Carlos lays a big lovely smooch on her, sigh. May I add an I Heart Carlos shirt to my order?

Regina’s attendants are, well, attending to her. Nata runs to the bathroom to get something while Inez comments she’s happy to see Regina with a man after all these years. She thought this moment would never arrive. (It sounded much nicer the way she said it, trust me.) Berta can’t believe it, all that time since her father died and no boyfriends? Regina says there was Antonio but otherwise all her time was spent looking for her daughter, finding her was the most important thing in Regina’s life. Roberta grins and thought bubbles “Ah Regina, you are so corny.” (cursi)

Inez sends Berta off to retrieve Nata who, at that moment, happens to stumble across the box holding the missing emerald necklace. Nata confronts her sister and Berta claims she only found it yesterday. “What, you don’t believe me? You think *I* would steal it?” Nata responds it just seems odd because Berta knew how important it was to her. Inez summons them in the background and Nata says they’ll talk later. “Gawd you annoy me!” gripes Roberta to the empty room. (Me chocas) She vows she’ll do something to end Renata’s stupid happiness.

Gonzo fusses with his boutonnière and deals with a case of wedding day jitters. Matias, looking extremely handsome in his tails, calms Pops and heads him out to the car.

Regina gazes sadly at Cata’s picture and wishes she could be there to give her blessing. She wishes Cata could have known the truth, that Antonio betrayed them all. Inez thinks Cata knows everything now that she is looking down from heaven, and that Gonzo is the perfect man for her. Inez says she’s not Regina’s mama, she’s more like a sister, but she’d love to give Regina the mother’s blessing. Inez gives the blessing and the two BFFs hug, cry and laugh.

It is a sunny day in the DF and the happy crowd gathers on the church steps. Renata and Jero congratulate Adri and Matias. Coni squeals that the bride is arriving. Regina steps out of the limo and looks beautiful even with those dopey feathery ribbon things in her hair.

Selena runs into Chema at a cafe and he actually recognizes her. He’s surprised to see her, shouldn’t she be at Gonzo’s wedding? Sele reminds him she and Berta stopped being friends ages ago, didn’t she tell him? He gets the thinking-too-hard headache, says he never knew, and promptly keels over with excruciating head pain. Sele screams for help.

Back at the church Regina walks down the aisle to her waiting groom. Oh wow, check out the backless wedding gown! She has an exquisite back; great choice by the wardrobe people. And there I was thinking the dress was just a bit puritanical. The camera pans to everyones happy faces...and Roberta’s bored yawns.

Let the ceremony begin. Say the vows, put on the rings, smile smile smile, Gonzo/Regi theme song, Thirteen Gold Coins, happy happy joy joy, communion, Ave Maria...STOP!! Back up! Gonzo looks slightly alarmed. Just who is singing Ave Maria? The camera scans the nuns and Oh. My. God. The voice of the angel is coming out of the mouth of Malafina. Not sure how Fina got the singing gig but you’ve got to admit it’s a nice touch. Gonzo is concerned, no doubt thinking “Nah”, but everyone else smiles and even comments on the loveliness of the song, so Gonzo shakes it off and relaxes his frown lines. As the song concludes, the dulcet tones are drowned out by the sound of a beating heart, and the singer’s angelic countenance is replaced by a satanic leer.

Back in Ensenada it appears that Augi has a chance encounter with Marina. After some informal niceties he gets to work. He says he thought Marina was a woman who liked to fight for her happiness, but the contrary seems to be true as she sent Renata right into Jero’s arms. She corrects him, what she wanted was Jero’s love, but it was not for her. He smirks that he thought she had more vision. “You thought I had more malice (malicia), like you,” she retorts. Augi says it seems Marina is a loser, while he on the other hand is a winner. She corrects him again, she’s not a loser but a realist, big difference. He says if she changes her mind and decides to go after what she wants she can look him up.

The ceremony concludes and Regina and Gonzalo are pronounced husband and wife. The full house applauds and gives a standing ovation. All except Boredberta of course.

A sweet nun tells Malafina that God has blessed her with such a voice. Fina slinks off to carry out the next phase of her nefarious plot.

The newlyweds succumb to peer pressure and make out on the church steps, surrounded by applause, “besos!” and happy family members. But the nun with the gun approaches. She pulls the weapon out of her disguise and shouts “This will be last time you kiss him, bitch!”

Everyone is frozen in shock. Fina takes aim. Nobody moves. She fires as Gonzo pushes Regina away. Did Gonzo get hit? But no, he stands up, horrified, and moves toward Fina. She shoots again and Gonzo falls. Roberta’s face says she didn’t sign up for this. People scream Papa! Papa! Regina is on the ground and Fina aims and shoots. More screams, this time for Regina. The camera pans back and we see both Gonzo and Regina are down. A perfect scarlet stain spreads out on Regina’s pure, white dress. She’s been shot in the stomach just above her right hip.

After being frozen for what seems forever the crowd jumps into action. They call the ambulance as Fina takes a few more wild shots in the air. There is much wailing and gnashing of teeth and every actor gets a turn at demonstrating grief. I think Matias might win.

Sister Malafina jumps into Taxi A-94-877. “Ocupado, ocupado!” yells the taxista, but Fina and the waving gun jump in. He was waiting for her anyway, he just didn’t know it.

Jero and Honorio jump into a car and they chase the taxi all over the DF. Fina keeps jabbing the taxist with her gun urging him to hurry! Hurry!

Back on the steps of death Adri calls for two ambulances, it’s serious! Right Away! Matias continues his award-winning performance. Oh my, even Roberta seems truly stricken by this turn of events.

I think the taxi gets trapped because it stops, Fina jumps out and starts firing at Jero and Honorio. She runs out of ammo and becomes the Nun on the run. Jero captures her and manages to hold her until the police arrive, cuff her and carry her off. No cops stay to interview Hons and Jero? Never mind, we have more important things to worry about now that the Nun is done.

Meanwhile, at the Only Hospital in the DF (OHDF), Chema has been admitted. It’s about time someone brought that poor boy in and who knew it would be Sele? She tells the doc she’s just a friend and she doesn’t know his family.

Back at the church Fina’s victims get loaded into the ambulances. The family members are hysterical and Nata keeps repeating “They’re not going to die. They’re not going to die.” Matias, Adri and Berta jump in with Gonzo and Renata goes with Regina.

Matias begs his father not to die, he must fight, they have a lot of things to do together. Please papa. Berta thought bubbles that this wasn’t part of the plan, she silently promises. “I love you papa. You were the first in my life to protect me, to really love me. Later I also found love with Rafael and she killed him too, blah blah blah. You’re my real father.”

Renata prays and cries over Regina. Gina opens her eyes and whispers “Renata, why? Why now when I’m finally happy?” She asks about Gonzo and Nata promises he is also on the way to the hospital. She tells Gina not to worry, weeps that she (Nata) is here with Regina and cries that she doesn’t want to lose Regina. Gina says she’s not going to die, she can’t die, she wants to be by their sides. Lots more crying and promises to be together.

Just when I think I can’t take anymore we get a blessed scene change back to the wine country. Kari and Laz excitedly make plans for their own wedding with a couple of pre-wedding PSAs thrown in. He can’t believe that someone like her could fall for an ugly swarthy guy like him. (He uses the word “negro”, not sure the exact intent but I’m guessing it means his dark hair and tanned skin?) Kari corrects him, he is the handsomest and best guy in the land and that’s why he’s held her heart for many years.

We rush back to the OHDF where the victims have arrived. Renata begs the staff for any sort of update on Regina’s condition. Seconds later Gonzo gets rushed through followed by her wailing siblings. She tries to comfort Roberta. They are sisters and that is much stronger than any of their differences. She grabs Matias and the three form a unit bound by Matias’s strong arms and Renata’s faith and will. They will face this together.

Jero calls Nata to give her the 411. Fina has been captured. (The police are taking Hons’s story in the background.) Nata says Gonzo and Regina are in the operating room but Gonzo is much worse off than Regina. Matias yells he has a bullet in the head. Jero tells her to keep calm and he and Hons will be there as soon as they can.

The siblings hug and cry, and what began as our happiest episode ends on this saddest of notes.

Wow. I hope you all enjoyed this episode as much as I did. I thought it was absolutely riveting.

One of the most moving scenes was when Renata jumped in Regina's ambulance and she was the first one Regina saw when she opened her eyes. I'm not ashamed to admit I got tears in my eyes during this scene and a couple of others too.

Having Rocio Banquells sing Ave Maria as Fina was pure brilliance.

Oh Sylvia, what a brilliant recap illustrating step by step the witty title. You enjoyed the madcap fun of this like I did. It helped us deal iwth the sad, cruel end to the wedding but I agree that Renata ending up in Regina's ambulance was heart wrenching. It also showed Roberta has some feelings. She was actually horrified that Gonzo was shot down. I'm not sure she cared much about Regina so I'm so glad the real mother and child reunion was a gift to Regina.

I guess I knew that Rocio could sing well but yes, it was a perfect touch to give that grizzly twist to the beautiful wedding ceremony. Wasn't it curious though that only Gonzo was thrown by the familiar voice during the Ave Maria-Holy Mackerel moment.

Gracias amiga for doing great justice to this fab. episode.

I forgot to mention how much I loved the outocme of the emerald necklace mystery. Renata will not have time to worry about the fake theft and now she has another substantial clue about Roberta's continuing rancor and jealousy.

Dr. Tata did well with spurning the obnoxious Augie. Can you remember how handsome we thought he was just a few months ago. My how ugliness can seep from inside to out. I can't stand looking at him now. Great characterization and acting on his part to make me flip from side to side.

Cheryl, Fina's beautiful singing was one of the few beanie moments from last night. A voice like that requires practice. In reality Fina would have likely practiced at home and her whole family would know her voice in an instant. I guess we'll just tell ourselves she is a natural and it's a skill that she kept a secret from her family.

Doc Tata is my hero. She maintained her integrity and didn't waffle at all with Augi. She sees right through him. I hope she shares some of this with Renata.

Awesome recap Cap'n! Of a very exciting episode! Yeah the double take bit on the Ave Maria was a brilliant bit of theater - especially Gonzo's consternation.

And you gave us a great vocal too! Wow!

Audrey

Oops! I meant vocab! How did that happen? Actually it was the iPad auto spelling correction which sometimes has very unintended consequences! Pretty funny in context this time.

Audrey

Thank You for a great recap. Wow! Just had to comment on such an action filled episode. Got to credit this TN for not keeping the secrets until the last capitulos, and for not sparing the gunpowder. Malafina sure does have the disguises--I think she looks better in the new wigs and clothes (except for the overalls) than she ever did in her usual black garb before she went on the lam. And her singing was super. Who knew they would let it her sing? That was truly unexpected.

Hurray, now she is caught. It would be just too much to see her, wearing the long habit, outrun Jero, a younger, athletic looking guy. Too bad he didn't use a couple of left jabs to subdue her.
Be interesting to see if she ends up escaping (like DrLivesOn)or meets up with BSC Blanca-- still quite a few episodes to go.

This TN really is a winner. And the comment blog is tops. Thanks to all, recappers and blog commenters. You all add so much.

Sylvia- Brilliant recap! Somehow you found the humor in the dark happenings. This was a great episode.

I loved the crazy irony of Fina singing the Ave Maria with such an angelic voice. And then the image of her as a nun on the run with a gun. These writers are having fun.

The shooting scene was done beautifully. I actually don't think the guests were slow to react. They slowed the scene down in the way your brain sees a tragedy as it's happening-- in slow motion. Even the music slowed down in those moments and at points even went silent, then would speed up again and get really loud as the scene went back into real time. The way they framed Gonzo's and Gina's bodies layed out on the ground in front of the church steps, with the one bright red stain on the front of Gina's white dress, was also quite beautiful.

Fab dress, by the way. Gina does have a beautiful back.

"She grabs Matias and the three form a unit bound by Matias’s strong arms and Renata’s faith and will." -- This was just a lovely sentence Sylvia. Just a perfect description of that emotional scene.

I also got teary during the Nata-Gina ambulance scene. It is wonderful that they are forming a strong mother-daughter bond, despite not knowing the truth, much to Berta's annoyance.

Speaking of Berta, I did not feel sorry for her one bit. Sorry. I was not moved. Surely she knew that Fina intended to kill Gina. If Berta loves Gonzo so much, why would she go along with a plan to kill the love of his life? And all to get her hands on Gina's money when she's already got Roberto's money. Plus, she knows that Fina hates Gonzo almost as much as she hates Gina. It was almost a guarantee that she would also take the opportunity to kill Gonzo too. So, I can't accept Berta acting like killing Gonzo was not part of the plan and that somehow she's not at fault here.

As for things in Ensenada, I was proud of Marina sticking to her principals too. I too hope she shares this info with Nata eventually. Padre Tio has also come around and seems to be past the "I told you so" stage, and ready to be a loving grand-uncle.

Cheryl- I also remember how attractive Augie looked at the beginning of this tale. Especially compared to Hot-Cold-Really Cold Jero. Now Jero has pulled ahead and Augie has fallen so low, he's fallen over the edge. At least it looks like he bathed and changed this episode. :)

Loved Laz's victory cheer! Also loved the fact that Mati is just humoring MeridaMakeoverMama until she leaves. Good!

Oh Audrey, I wish I cold blame all my typos on auto-correct -- but it's just my fumbling fingers.

Sylvia -- You are a master. The title, the snarky fun all the way through to the very sad end. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. (especially since I'm away & caught up in family activities & so haven't seen this yet.)

I am amazed by the turns these writers are taking. The Fina singing at the ceremony was pure genius and it sounds as though Gonzalo's reaction was perfect.

I'm glad that Roberta has at least an outer limit to her bitchiness. At least she has the capacity to love SOMEONE other than herself.

It sounds as though there were some great moments with Mati, Marina and Kari. Yea!

Sylvia you cracked me up once again with you wit

Pure genius, my dear, your writing is right up there with the clever and innovative writers of the show.

Love your Dr. Seuss title, Sylvia and everything else in this sparkling recap:

Drshouldbesharkchum

"red power suit that would make Gloria Allred jealous" and

"every actor gets a turn at demonstrating grief. I think Matias might win"

And how. Man was he wailing big-time.

My favorite moment of the show was how Renata kept gathering Roberta and Matias into a tripartite hug at the hospital. And each time they would split apart in individual grief, she would gather them back in again...to draw strength from each other.

Also want to thank you for the vocab...especially the one about forgiveness and the past. I tried to jot it down as she was saying it, in addition to the one about "en la medida que perdonamos...." but it all went by too fast. So thanks amiga.

One final note: Yowza...that backless wedding dress was a surprise. And agree...the actress has a stunning figure. Roberta's dress was pretty back-less as well. Surprised the priest didn't make them wear a shawl. Back in the sixties, they'd have a fit about sundresses...in Indiana anyway. Maybe they're a little less tight in Mexico. Oh yeah...and that was 50 years ago. Things change, eh

JudyB - How often I forget that something from the sixties was 50 years ago.

Güera

Great recap of a great episode.

Fina will go straight to hell for this one, we can be sure. However, since we're nowhere near the end she will escape at least once. She is as sociopathic as villana of El Fantasma de Elena and we'll see more escapes and hunts before we're done.

Augustin creeps me out even more than Alvaro does. He won't be satisfied until he's captured Renata and eaten her alive.

Oh right - Lazaro's victory cheer! Wasn't that something? I think he surprised his coworkers there - hilarious. What a great scene. Amazing.

And yes, Sylvia, I too loved your title!

Audrey

Sylvia, how you rocked this recap. So much happening and you got every detail (the taxi id!!) and also added your always wonderful comments.

There is some serious stoking going on in hell for Fina's upcoming arrival. Her sheer audacity of using a nun's outfit, singing the Ave Maria, and then shooting to kill...I had to adjust the beanie while she stood among the other nun's since she was not a member of the order and no one seemed to question her presence. But it was a fab scene by writers' to show her insanity. And the fact that Jero had the "honor" of grabbing her - perfect!

Speaking of which - I'm expecting out Fanatic Fina to plead insanity and we will finally see our two favorite nut jobs meeting up - Blanca and Fina.

No sympathy for Berta from me either-we keep expecting a wake-up call from this girl, but I'm not holding out hope. Her jealousy of Nata has to curb as well.

Mati - approve the loss of headband, hated everything else. I loved learning she was on to Mama and figured what the heck - go along with it. Lovely plot twist again!!

So,I will be hugging my Laz & Chema tees until tonight.( We might have to start a new line for Carlos, Jero (he's won me over big time) - maybe even go for a "thumbs down" Auggie shirt.

Major hospital moments tonight. (So who runs into Selene first and finds out about Chema?) Better not do in my Gonzo, plus don't think I could take Matias' wailing/screaming again. Sorry, it was a bit over the top for me.

Damn. Damn. That was intense! Thanks, Sylvia. What a tough episode to have. Any doubts now as to why this actress got the best baddie award (or whatever it was)? Regina, you want to know why this has happened to you? Because an incompetent police force can't recognize a woman once she puts on a wig, and apparently neither can any other citizen in the DF! I know Malafina is not done. She'll probably be declared insane, room with Blanca, they'll break out of the loony bin and wreak some awful, horrific mayhem sometime in late November. Stabbed, poisoned and now shot. And Roberta, you miserable, hypocritical, hell-born, dog-faced whore. How dare you. You knew Fina was on the loose, you've got the ransom money and you know you're not Regina's daughter. Please, I hope nobody's feeling sorry for her (once again) self-centered angst over "her Pappa's" attempted murder. Give. me. a. break! A fiery death to both these bitches!

Love the grito from Laz, hope she doesn't get kidnapped by you-know-who which seems likely the way things are going. Oh yeah, and we've got enough time for Maritata to go to the dark side and team up with Auggie.

Dramatic episode, nicely rendered more than tolerable Cap'n! Thanks!

Lila

Wow! What an episode and WHAT a recap. What a ton of fun with the nun on the run with a gun.

Fina singing Ave Maria... brilliance... improbable... but brilliance.

At first I was a little perplexed by the Church wedding but I guess because Gonzo's wife #1 was alive until recently, he couldn't marry Fina in the Church... so now it's OK.

Could Mati be any more perfect? Now put that headband back.

Did they give Regina's bodyguards the day off?

My favorite line refers to Chema:

"He gets the thinking-too-hard headache..."

daisynjay, I'm also looking forward to our 2 crazy ladies meeting and joining up. Now if they could capture Dr.9lives and give us a triumvirate.

Carlos

Lila,

"Roberta, you miserable, hypocritical, hell-born, dog-faced whore..."

Maybe I'll put a hold on production of my line of Redeem Robi! key chains.

Carlos

Carlos! ;-D

Lila

Good morning everyone. You folks sure are up-and-at-'em early today. Lila's scathingly brilliant rant was better than a double espresso.

Roberta - dang I am torn about her. I have really been rooting for her to turn her life around but after what she allowed to happen (yes ALLOWED) I fear she may be gone for good. Surely someone will wonder how Fina got the wedding info, unless maybe they published it in the society pages which I somehow doubt. I'm not holding my breath for the police to figure it out. They and the security guards are a bunch of wankers.

Carlos, good idea to put a hold on those key chains.

Vivi, thank you for mentioning the shooting scene. It really was beautifully and artistically done. I re-watched it this morning without my recapper's hat on and the camera speeds and angles, the choreography of the falls, the families crouched over the bodies, all of it was stunning. This is a talented crew; all of them.

JayGee, daisynjay, Lila, Carlos and others: I am now absolutely certain that Fina and BSCBlanca will hook up and go on some sort of reign of terror. The doc I'm not so sure of although it would be interesting to see how Fina might utilize him.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. This was a rockin' episode, no doubt about it. The writing, acting, directing, editing and everything else is simply awesome.

I have to say, this is the way to do a melodramatic tn right. I'm trying to put my finger on why something so over the top works in CME, but didn't in TDA. I was on the edge of my seat last night. I knew some of this stuff was crazy, but I also felt like the writers were winking at me, and not insulting my intelligence. I think the writers have done a nice job of blending the standard tn plot lines, with some unexpected and fresh story progressions and character development. The pacing of the revelation of secrets and major plot turns is also wonderful. When I saw how long this tn was, I really thought we would be deep in the doldrums by now. I didn't mind, since that's just to be expected. But, I have been pleasantly surprised by how they have kept things moving.

Those who watched La Mentira, surely this story must have veered way off that original storyline by now, right?

Sylvia, I have no words for your brilliant recap! Muchisimas gracias.

Rocio Banquelis is brilliant, and how perfect that she got the best actress in a novela award.

I keep being increasingly impressed by Silvia Navarro as well. Damn she's good.

And now may Roberta rot in hell.

Great recap Sylvia! I remember this episode, so crazy.

I loved the hugs between the three sibilings at the hospital even though Roberta had been in the know about what her mother would do to Regina.

I remember my sister (this was her favorite novela) cracking up when they showed Fina singing. We liked that touch even if it was kind of surreal (maybe that's the reason we liked it so much).

I also come bringing news. The Carlos Moreno team (ENDA, CME) has joined up again and they are pre-producing the remake of the 80's novela "De Pura Sangre" (not to be confused with the Colombian Pura Sangre which was remade as MEPS).

Moreno got once again Silvia Navarro for his leading lady and the galán is going to be Sebastián Rulli (he was supposed to star in the next Carla Estrada novela but it was postponed to 2013).

This means Silvia will join the club of the actresses who have played twins (but don't worry, there's no twin swap in that story).

Jarocha

Ooh Jarocha! The writers of ENDA and CME! Silvia and Sebastian together! Silvia playing twins! I am on board for that tn whenever it comes out. Thanks for the advanced info.

Jarocha - what news!!! I'll be waiting for that one. After seeing Rulli's work in Teresa and hooking him up with Silvia - pure brilliance.

Carlos - Had never thought of the Doc, Blanca and Fina togther. The idea boggles the mind and begs the warning "Lock the doors!". Talk about a Halloween nightmare.

Jarocha, I'm so glad you checked in. That's very interesting news about Silvia Navarro's next telenovela. I can't wait!!

Has anyone seen Labios Rojos yet? I was on my way to the theater yesterday but my radiator sprang a leak and I diverted myself to the car repair place. Darn!! Now it is only playing in two theaters and I'm afraid it will leave before I get a chance to see it.

Dona G, I was miffed when Rocio got her award because I thought it should have gone to Azela Robinson (Fedra in Llena de Amor). But after seeing Rocio's portrayal of Fina I have gotten over my snit. Rocio is doing a bang-up job. As Jarocha says, some of the scenes are surreal, but somehow they feel believable.

I really like the storyline of "De Pura Sangre", I saw a remake in the 90's called "La Jaula de Oro" (which was coincidentally produced by the producer of La Mentira) where Gonzo in CME (René Casados) played the villain.

I think the role is perfect for Rulli, he does a great "still waters run deep" type of character and he was excellent at displaying anger in Teresa.

I have no doubt Silvia will be perfect and I hope her main character will be more like the first version than the second, which means that (unless they change the story) they are going to need an extremely charming villain.

Sylvia: I haven't had the time to see Labios Rojos but I've seen lots of interviews Silvia has done about the film and I feel as if I've watched it already. I'd have to go to the movies when I have the chance. It got a C rating here (over 18), nudity is not enough to get that rating so I'm expecting some colourful jokes.

Given the large Spanish speaking community in this region, I just can't believe I have not been able to find playing times for the movie. But, so it is. I will have to wait till it's on Netflix.

Sylvia thanks for a great recap and a fun title. I'm glad you had such a fun episode and we get to enjoy your work.

I'm with those who are down on Roberta. Even while Regina and Gonzo were being shot, she seemed more indifferent which I interpreted as compliance. She had to know her mother would do something drastic (Fina wouldn't tell her the surprise but Berta had to know it was on the murderous side of things).

The thought of Dr. Icky, Fina and Blanca on team crazyvillainsfromhell is too for my mind to comprehend. I hope we do not have a series of kidnappings (Kari, Nata, and anyone who gets in team crazy's way).

Sylvia: Great recap of a great ep. Love the title.

Glad to see our girl Mati is no fool.

Daisynjay: Also felt Matias was over the top. But his character does tend to do that.

Trivial fashion comment: Do not like the off to one side hair style. But noticed Gina and Nata were wearing it the same. Was Berta?
