Cuando Me Enamoro #155 Monday 11/28/11 Into a Sea of Trouble & Tears Sails a Bothersome Boatload of “The Others”

First, related to nothing but our pleasure in the joy of our amigo David in IN’s at the triumphal return of his son from Iraq. We celebrate this great news and your well-justified pride in the return of your beloved son. Welcome home and thank you to him. Here is a portrait of two members of a wonderful family who has found refuge in Abq. NM after fleeing persecution in Iraq.

So on with our story review. For greater detail go back to FlordeAzul’s recap from Friday in #154:
Inez has smeared the fingerprints on the glass as Isidro tells her idea was brilliant but she should have worn gloves and put the glass in a plastic bag. Clearly she needs more time watching forensic pathology shows. But she is sure Renata is the real daughter and Roberta is the other, Renata alone in her bedroom at home is sad that Jero lied when she only wants to help him. Augie invites Anibal to stay longer so they can get to know each other better even though he still denies being his father he doesn’t want to be thought an ogre. Really? But, he thinks to himself he really wants a spy at La Bonita so he can track his prey better. Back in his bedroom, Anibal reveals a letter in his blue backpack. He tenderly opens and rereads it as he swears the only thing he wants is to confirm that Augie is his father. The mystery of his past continues.

When she calls him, Augie disappoints his Renata saying he can’t get involved with saving Jero. His lawyer has advised that he can’t act to prejudice himself in the eyes of the law in the case of Dr. Alvaro McNasty. He is SOOOOO sorry.

Constanza and Honorio come home. She makes excuses to go to the kitchen to make tea, he will await his yummy wife in the bedroom. She of course goes straight to the servant’s room to see the sleeping nasty little mommy and the cooing baby. She is way too glamorous to wear baby vomit well. What is she thinking?

Chema finally comes home. He is so distraught from being tricked and betrayed. They need to talk, his Dad tells him. He knows what happened to him at casa Monterrubio. Chema pitches a well earned fit. He feels betrayed and humiliated that they all tricked him. His dad assures him that it was done by all of them as an act of love. He is mostly feeling betrayed because he thought Adriana was his love. He thought he was about to be engaged to her but it turns out that she has been engaged to Matias for some time.

Meanwhile Adriana, Julieta and Matias still in their wedding clothes try to figure out how to find him. Adri is ready to go out searching, but where? Just in time, Adri gets a call from Chema’s Dad that he has returned to his apartment. Adri is all ready to dash off to save Chema from himself again but Matias insists with a cooler head that it is not up to them but rather to his Dad to deliver the truth to Chema.

Dad says it all started when Adriana had him come to her house to tell him they were not to be together. The stress apparently caused him to faint in Adri’s house. He suddenly remembers waking up on the floor wondering what he is doing there. She asks him what does he mean and tells him of how he came in and what happened through his various symptoms. He tells his dad he remembers coming in and talking to Adriana. Then, he fainted but he remembers nothing. His dad starts to list the fainting and the headaches, the dizzy spells. Chema says, then does this have to do with why you are here too? Yes, Adri called me that I needed to come. It was a chance to mend the distance that had grown between us. You mean the restaurant was also because of this. Yes I wanted to help you realize your fondest dream. Chema says but this fainting and migraines and all. Am I condemned to death? The tragic face of papa says it all as Chema pleads, tell me papa. They hug and Dad says what you have is a brain tumor. I didn’t want you to know so I convinced your young friends to hide the truth from you. Why all this drama? Dad has to say because the tumor is inoperable. So what do I have to do. What treatments must I take? Dad has to tell him that there is nothing that will work. You mean that I have to die? And thus sadly, the end is near for our favorite “Other” who never deserved to be so, well, inconvenient. However, in this telenovela, that is a condition that nearly always results in death.

Augie introduces himself by phone to his next accomplice. He knows this person used to love Marina and he can help and Augie will solve his problems. This will provide so many benefits to him, like paying his debts. He needs to come.

Anibal calls Alison and wants her to visit Cruz but she says, my grandmother doesn’t want me to be near your father. So what to do, they need to see each other. Hold on to this cute scene with a warning. It ‘s the only cuteness you’re going to see for a bit. And too bad Manuela has never shared her dislike of Augie with Renata but I digress.

Carlos and Matilde exit from the Padres’ talking and planning their wedding. which for his fault has been postponed too long. Matilde makes a stupid country girl slip and says because of his influencia (influence) while Carlos corrects her by saying influenza. So, when can he do it? . How soon do you want it to be? As soon as possible, beams Matilde. Carlos says, as soon as Jeronimo is out of jail. Renata and Jeronimo are supposed to be the padrinos of the wedding. They are all happy. Too happy for this to work out well, me thinks.

Jero in jail is brought a blanket and a little paper bag of goodies, as Marina on wheels has cleaned up with careful hairdo and make up as though she is going on a date with her favorite jailbird. She further woos him with the pictures of his unborn children. She assures him they are perfectly okay. But, she couldn’t sleep last night because he is in jail. She takes his hand and says she would do anything for him to get him out of jail. (even on top of a desk?) Just as Renata shows up to say good morning and the look on her face at the handholding from behind the “other”, is priceless. I half expected her to do a wheelie for Tatas and push her chair fast down the hall to get her away from her husband.

Jero is surprised that she is there, but Renata assures him that as soon as she heard she took the earliest flight to be with him. Tata puts away her tearjerking pictures and says she better go. No one argues with that super truth. Renata is mad too that she was the last to know as she is the wife. She could have had a chance to bring him things like Marina did.

The “other” aka Tatas rolls herself to the waiting room with more tears and cries to the sympathetic nurse who thinks she shouldn’t have come to this awful place. Marina whines that it isn’t the place but the situation and that SHE came. She? His wife she chokes out. She is rolled to the side while the wife takes his heart and she can’t believe that she is not the one at his side but the wife is, in spite of her being the mother of his children. OUR place isn’t at your side she snivels to her belly. She seems like it is news that she didn’t get the big prize of winning Jeronimo after her great desk performance.

Jero and Renata have a cute make up and kissing through the bars scene of promising not to lie to each other ever again. She has been so worried and he wanted to avoid any hurt and worry. They laugh and tease and quickly get back to the romantic way they are together. She says, I wanted to bring you food and comfort because who is your wife? Renata! Not Tata of the twins. He raises his hand in boy scout’s promise that he won’t lie again. They kiss and he asks how was the wedding? Lovely but, Roberta was a problem as usual. “Others” tend to do that. Jero acts like that was to be expected. And what about her Ezequiel story? She is continuing to make the same claim. He explains that he is now being held responsible for the whole pretense of the death of Nesme. She promises she will devote herself to doing everything to get him out of jail because she wants him with her and ask for a hug.

Adri shows up at Chema’s apartment to ask his Dad, does Chema know that she didn’t intend to hurt him. His dad says yes, but he wants to be left alone she wants to go back to his room but Dad says he has gone to see his doctor to learn more of the truth. His dad says he now knows that he has little time left. She feels so bad about tricking him. Dad, soothes her saying he knows very well that you were trying to be noble and kind to him.

Chema is at the doctor’s office asking, what has happened? I am feeling better with the medications. I’m not having such pain or fainting. Doctor says, this is just the medicine. Chema says but my dad says the tumor is inoperable. Isn’t there something else that can be done? No. So I just sit and wait to die? No just the opposite, when death is near, my counsel is to live with intention in the time you have left. What matters is the quality of life not the quantity. Live fully and with intensity, do everything you can in this short time, before you pass over to the Other Side.

Renata rolls her bag into the Bonita livingroom as the maid has a fit what are you doing here? Manuela nervously tells her the patron is not here right now. Renata tells them all to quit lying to her she knows he is in jail and she just got back from seeing him. I know, so stop lying. Stop lying. Lazaro comes in and gets scolded too. Then she urges him to go with her so they can work on getting Jero out of jail.

Regina calls Antonio to tell him as her old “other” that she is going on her long postponed honey moon but she wants him to be aware that Renata and Jero may need help and he is to call her back her honeymoon so she and Gonzolo can run to help. We hardly remember that they were once involved. Perhaps Antonio has found his proper calling as a counselor and comforter. He knows more than most about being the “other”

The nasty Mommy comes into the livingroom after Honorio leaves to take the honeymooners to he airport so Constanza can bring her out of her hiding place. The young woman eats hungrily as they plan and she asks if Constanza could please keep the baby for a very little time. She needs to leave the baby so she can go get other clothes and it will be much easier to do it if she can leave the infant with Constanza so she can go and return quickly. Consta coos and babytalks, not aware of the sneers on the not angelic face of the little mommy dearest.

Matias shows up in an unbelievably ugly shirt. Is that some team’s colors? He sits at the breakfast table while the maid tells him she will take care of him while the parents are away on the honeymoon. Roberta shows up to share a coffee. He is glad since he wants to tell her about German. Tell me? He surprises her by telling about German’s penchant for being a Don Juan and has been known for office romances in prior jobs, seducing lovely young women in the office and he tricked one in particular saying that he would divorce his wife but he didn’t and he never will. Roberta says, she would never go after a married man and besides German is such a good friend of her father’s. Why would Matias think this has anything to do with her? Our ultimate “other” seems to forget what Matias knows about her.

In parallel breakfast scenes, Gemma is saying I didn’t know you were working with so many beautiful and young women. He innocently counters that every office has lots of young people. But I saw how beautiful Adriana, Roberta and Renata are and I saw you oogling Renata . If you get into trouble again like that last adventure, I won’t give you the money to invest in the Empressas Monterrubio. Not missing a beat, German insists, but it is such a good investment. Guess who holds not only the purse strings but the purse as well.

Chema comes back. HIs dad asks him what he wants to do, postpone the opening of the restaurant? No I want to go one as planned but I want you to talk to Adriana Matias and Julieta, Inez and Consta. I can’t talk to them now but I want them all to be at the inauguration of the restaurant..

Back at the jailhouse Carlos brings more food and blankets to Jero behind bars and they talk about how Jero doesn’t trust that Augie, his “other”, won’t take advantage of Renata while he can and use Jero’s jail time as an excuse to get closer to her again, to drive a wedge between them. He begs Carlos to keep close track of Renata so this won’t happen. Carlos says you know how independent your wife is, this won’t be easy. The laugh at the fact that this is certainly true but Jero begs, try to keep her safe while I am stuck in here.

The rolling “other” comes in and cries to Antonio (Regina’s old “other”.) and he tells her as if she doesn’t know, she felt put out by Renata’s arrival. It is logical he says, she is his wife. She can’t, she can’t she keeps sobbing about this situation. I know you are friends with Renata. And don’t you know how I feel? If Renata had gone, I could have been in a happy relationship with Jeronimo by now. Kindly and knowingly, Antonio says, but things are NOT like that. Yes and I know that he is in love with his wife. For this reason she knows she needs to leave at least for the time being because she is acknowledging that she is the OTHER. No kidding. She needs to go but he says the fact that Jero is the father of her children and nothing can change this fact. I can’t go on this way. She disolves in tears which leaves us thinking that she deeply thinks she could be with him based on that afternoon romp on the desk but then she needs to leave because no one else is into her delusion.

Augie greets the new accomplice who he takes into his office. Accomplice says, you seem to know so much about me it is like an investigation. Augie smugly says I know that you could get Marina back. Why do you want to this? Why would I reconquer Marina? That is my business but, I am offering you so much money that it will solve your debts and doubts and concerns and give you money to start anew. Will this result in hurting Marina? No, it won’t at all, but I want her to have a safe, calm pregnancy and stay out of the way. Marina is pregnant? Yes, but not by me. I would never leave a pregnant woman all alone. Good thing he isn’t talking in front of Anibal. He suggests they drink some good wine then talk about what has happened to Marina since she came to the valley.

In the lawyer’s office with Matilde, Kari gets the official divorce papers laughing in her joy with Matilde and the lawyer. Now finally she is free to marry her beloved Lazaro. Matilde calls her sister-in-law and they all laugh in a happy moment.

In a not too happy moment, Renata goes to see Dr. Nasty Nesme in his big boy jail. She asks him can’t he come forward to tell the truth about Jero not being the one who wanted to fake Nesme’s death. She want him to aid her to get Jero freed from jail. He knows Jero was not to blame. Our unchanged Dr. Nesme’s slimey reply is and what is in it for me? What will you do for me if I go to the authorities and tell them that Jero isn’t at fault.

Next scenes: Renata’s relentless quest to free Jero proceeds, Augie makes the payoff to Marina’s “other” so he will help Augie the trickster, Isidor tells the bank manager who the real daughter is. It looks like Renata will faint in front of all of her girl friends. OMG what could THAT mean? Her heart or… ;> D

So it’s over to you Lila for Tuesday’s exciting revelations.

Cheryl:

Thank you for this recap. I loved your theme of "the Others". What a way to name the outsiders in this TN. Really, it was right on.

I think Marina has had a psychotic break. What else would explain her utterly stupid comments and behavior? Her manipulation is so lame...Arghh.

Renata and Jero have real chemistry, no? It looks like the two actors are having a great time with one another in these roles. They are so playful and Jero's eyes really light up when he sees Renata.

I loved Renata giving everyone a hard time at La Bonita about all the lying. For Renata and Co "No more lies" could be considered a sub-theme of this capitulo.

Too bad Gemma is on the wrong track about German and Renata. It may take her a while to notice that Roberta is really German's quarry. I love that she has all the money. A happy ending for her might be to kick German to the curb and start over with a nice man who appreciates her.

Finally, Chema learns the truth. Let's hope he doesn't forget it before he passes to the Other Side.
Boy, I'll miss those green eyes and black caterpillar lashes of his.

EJ

I so love your picture Cheryl!! That young man with such an awesome smile...great start to my morning.

"I half expected her to do a wheelie for Tatas and push her chair fast down the hall to get her away from her husband." Not that I want anything to happen to the bambinos, but boy...isn't it tempting to push her SOMEWHERE out of the picture? I almost wanted Antonio to slap her out of this pity-party she keeps having with herself. No wonder her former beau didn't work out - first he's a rat apparently, and second, she's a nutjob(not of the Fina variety, but just as annoying.)

Loved the jailhouse scene with Nata and Jero once hell on wheels departed. Those writers like to panic us, but they restored my faith in them having the two make up and move on. Yeah...keep those "others" ( how do I love this---let me count the ways) frustrated.

Chema...I'm not holding out hope, but since Zeke got it, I was hoping he would get a miracle cure. Why two good guys meeting the pearly gates? But doesn't seem that way.I'm having a bad feeling about that restaurant opening....

Off to deal with the cold and rain. Hope the sun is shining for everyone else!

Cheryl: Another intelligent, perceptive and enjoyable summary. Rich in details with "the Others" theme deftly interwoven into your recap.

"Clearly she needs more time watching forensic pathology shows", "She is way too glamorous to wear baby vomit well", "She further woos him with the pictures of his unborn children" and
"big boy jail" were only a few of my favorite lines.

I wish I could be optimistic but turbulent events are lurking. I don't feel comfort or satisfaction in any of our beloved characters' predicaments as they stand on the precipice of danger. For now, I will take comfort in Jero and Nata's devotion and love. That will have to sustain us for now.

EJ "Boy "I'll miss those green eyes and black caterpillar lashes of his" - me too amiga, me too.

Diana

Cheryl, thank you for your thoughtful comments regarding David's son and for expressing our unending gratitude to him for his (and David and family's) sacrifices.

David, my hope for you today is that, as our telenovela says, "se detiene el tiempo" = "time stops" as you enjoy your brief time with your son. And that time will have wings for the next 10 days until he is returned to you.

Beautiful picture Cheryl. As many troubles as our country has, it does say something that we are still regarded as one of the places to come for those seeking freedom from persecution.

Off to read the recap and more comments later...

That is such a beautiful picture Cheryl! Thank you for sharing it with us and David (who I know is having a fabulous day today). Also, thank you for this worderful recap with the brilliant theme of "the Others."

Maritata was at her worst this episode. She needs to get over it. Accept that she made a mistake (getting involved with a married man) and now needs to live with the consequences-- being forever tied to her baby-daddy and HIS WIFE.

I loved the scenes with Nata and Jero scolding, kissing, and canoodling through the bars. I agree that they have a great playful chemistry and really exhude love. Tata never stood a chance. I would hate to see her bite the dust like so many other Others, but she's really starting to make herself inconvenient, given that she can't get over Jero and all.

Saul was Saimon from La Fea!! He has such a beautiful face. It will be interesting to see him in a completely different role. I suppose in his current role as a rat (no offense to our pudgy animal extras) we'll not get any of his suave dance moves, frenetic doggerel lyrics and infamous pratfalls. Sigh.

Cheryl, your theme of "The Others" is brilliant. Yes, it is a thread that is woven deeply into this telenovela and has been since episode one. It is The Other (Fina) who started the granite balls rolling in the first place. By the way, is there no way to get those balls off the stairs in Casa MR? They are harbingers of doom to me and yes, I know I obsess about them.

MariTata, I was your advocate for ever so long, now I just want you to shut up with the sniveling already. EJ is the expert so listen up, you need help of the professional variety!

ITA that her manipulation (i.e. attempt at) is lame, so lame that nobody even noticed it except Renata who quickly swept it aside like so much detritus.

But now I am very curious as to her past, how she is linked to Saul and why Augustin wants Saul to win her back. Wouldn't he want MariTatas and Jero to connect, leaving Renata free for him? As has been mentioned, they are introducing more plot twists at this late date and leaving more loose ends to tie up.

Thanks Cheryl! What a terrific recap and stunning picture of mother and son seeking refuge in our country.

Aye, good morning Cheryl and mis amigos! Love the theme of the "others" it is so on point. The others can cause a lot of problems, can't they? Ok. I can't take Saimon from La Fea seriously as a semi-villian. And goodness, he looks younger! Anywho, can't say too much, I'm at work and I await deeper novela noggins than mine to figure how Saimon re-winning over Marina helps Auggie? I know it helps us if he can get her whinnin' behind outta town.

Thanks for the set up Cheryl, looks like I get a doozie tomorrow!!

Lila (sorry if this posts twice, Blogger being weird)

Very nicely done, Cheryl. I too, like the way you identified The Others. Time to start weeding them out and casting them aside. I've never been a big fan of Chema, but can we move weepy Marina to the front of that line?

As much as the rest of you seem to have enjoyed the jail scene between Renata and Jerry, it put me off in a big way. Jerry is such a weak immature boob. He is doing nothing to discourage Marina's static cling as he insists that Renata understand.

I thought Renata was too quick to give him a pass. He wrinkles his nose, flashes that insipid smile, tells her that he's nuts for her freckles, then POOF!, they're nuzzling again. Cute maybe once or twice, but I for one am fed up.

I like the looks of Saul (loved Saimon)... I say let's make a one for one even swap. Of course it sounds like he may have a bit of luggage.

Right now, I say thank goodness for Fina, Blanca, Augie, Alvaro, and Roberta, because the others at this point, are dull, dull, dull.

Carlos

Oh Carlos, you are never going to forgive Jero for being Jerko during the fist half of this tn. :) That's ok. We ladies, and Nata, have enough kindness in our hearts to forgive him when he flashes that smile and wears one of those smashing suits. ;-)

Good moring all, yes "STatic Cling" may be Marina's new name! HA what a howl. Vivi yu are right that Carlos isn't swayed by that flashing smile and wonderful look in suits while we hard core CME women and apparently Renata have risen above his former bratty behavior. Jero has certainly had a wide range of characteristics and traits but at least he isn't deeply mean nor has he offed anyone yet. Hopefully he will be useful in keeping the Roberta/Augie link and placing in Renata's face.

Thanks for the appreciation of the portrait. It will be hung in an all NM photographers show at the end of the week.

Elna June I think Marina should be urged to get some good psychological counseling.

Diana and EJ, I think a lot of us will miss those dreamy eyes of chema's but it is lookng like the restaurant opeining will be a sad event. I wish he would take refuge in Julieta's offer of friendship. She has turned out to be a good influence.

And now Saul, I really like this actor too but he looks like he has been bought and delivered without a blink except for checking to be sure that Augie's skulduggery doesn't include hurting her. Looks like he will be a spineless wonder but at leas not evil liek Melecio.

Daisyinjay, I hope you find a cozy spot from the cold and rain. Wouldn't it be fun if Antonio suddenly developed a spine and slapped Marina. That was a funny image which I am going to roll around my mind for a bit. Marina was truly annoying. I thik we are lucky she is in a wheelchair to save the babies. She could continue to do damage at La Bonita.

Lila and Sylvia, I think you are going to have some really fun scenes to work on this week. Amazing that they are still introducing new characters when we are near the 3 week marker of ultimos capitulos.

Thanks, Cheryl. Repeating "others", your "Other" theme is marvelous! What a deliciously thorough "re-rant" for those of us with limited Spanish skills. My favorite line: "She is rolled to the side while the wife takes his heart".

David - What a wonderful day! Please know that your joy is our joy and we are thinking of you and smiling.

Quick comments:
Anibal holding that letter tenderly. That makes me think Blanca can't be his mom. Would he think of her tenderly?

If the Wicked Witch of the West is looking for the other crystal ball from the matched set, it is on Augie's desk. So many weapons on that desk... the letter opener, the bronze bronco, the crystal ball. From the game of Clue: Augie will be murdered
- in his office
- with the ?
- by ?
They've shown us lots of possibilities.

That baby sure is hiccupy. Second episode in a row it's been doing that.

El tumor es inoperable. Sniff. Sniff.

Renata's blindness is wearing thin. She really thinks Augie will help Jero? She really thinks Roberta's Chema "slip" at the wedding was an accident of ignorance, not malice? Get a clue, girl!

Antonio really knows how Marina feels, given he felt like that just recently with Regina. Tell her it gets better! Help her work it through! Shut her up! Por favor!

Well, since Jero didn't say it, it's up to us. Here goes the final draft of

THIRD RATE ROMP

Marina,
As the moment of our union drew nigh,
on your desktop we dedided to lie,
you pulled up your skirt,
I unbuttoned my shirt,
But I didn't even loosen my tie.
It was once,
after a kiss,
in your office with the door ajar,
on your desk,
after hours with the lights on,
I didn't even mess up my hair
Nor did we knock any files off the desk,
and the whole time I was just mentally composing my shopping list for the ranch supply store,
while blogging
and crocheting beanies,
and I was still wearing my socks.
My car was running
and the radio was playing
Third Rate Romance.
I know that I've made a mistake,
I'm sorry our coupling did take,
But you know I love Nata,
So shouldn't you oughta
Move on with your life,
For Chrissakes.

Good work, Amigos!

Rosemary la Otra

What a great recap, Cheryl. Add me to the chorus of..loved your theme of "the Others."

I was going to suggest lining up all the "Others" and make them wear an "O" on their chests, but then, I'd have to add Fina, Blanca, Alfonsina, Lazaro, Matias...and pretty soon we'd have the whole cast up there. So scrap that.

I need to find out what hair care products Maritatas uses. I could certainly make use of them. Her old pony tail was kinda short and straight. However did she grow those long curly locks overnight.

Frankly, I'm tired of new characters being introduced so close to the end. Whatever could it be that Augie has in mind. Does he think that by separating (culling?) Maritata from the herd it is going to help him conquer Renata? If anything, it gets a problem out of Renata's life.

They could just as easily have had a weepy Doctora retreat back to the DF where all alone, boohoo, she can wallow in her misery until the babies are born. She's making everyone else in Ensenada uncomfortable with her weepiness.

I'll be back later. Oh, Cheryl, thank you for adding one more new Nesmeism. It would have been funny also as Dr. Alvaro T. McNasty...

Carlos, you may be correct in your assessment of wimpy Jero, but it's very hard not to fall for such a handsome guy with the winning smile, good wardrobe sense, great hair, excellent wine connaisseur with terrific come-on lines, even if he leaves his sock on.

Cheryl -- yes, what a lovely picture and it deserves to be in the all NM show. Your expression of concern for David & family was lovely -- and I wish to add my thoughts to yours.

The title is wonderful and the way you wove the "others" theme throughout the recap is masterful.

I loved the "too glamorous to wear baby vomit well" line, also the wish for Nata to "do a wheelie for Tatas and push her chair fast down the hall" Then there is "She takes his hand and says she would do anything for him to get him out of jail. (even on top of a desk?)" Your asides are priceless.

I'm worried about where the Chema story may be going. I fear something bad will happen at the opening to which he pointedly invited Matt, Adri, Julieta, Ines & Cons. I must say the scene where his papa had to fess up was very touching -- the look on the actor's face as he had to admit that Chema is dying was wrenching.

It's a good thing that I was watching this episode on tape because I totally lost the dialogue as I stared at Saúl and tried to place the actor. Once I finally made the connection I couldn't believe the difference in the presentation of Saúl vs our fun loving Saimon from Fea. luckily I could rewind after I recovered.

Speaking of Fea, Carlos, is some of your antipathy for Jero holdover from Soler's role in Fea -- where I was a fan but you sure weren't? Jero acted badly toward Nata early on -- but through it all he was really conflicted. He always loved her even when he thought she was the one responsible for Rafa's death. I've long since forgiven him -- as has Renata. They really are cute together and a real affection shines from the screen.

But Oh, Carrlos, your static cling line is hilarious -- and it may stick.

Sylvia -- I like your take on the "others" theme--that It is The Other (Fina) who started the granite balls rolling in the first place.

Güera

Cheryl--I may be wrong, but I think Manuela did have that little "talk" about Augie with Renata. They were in the kitchen. She didn't go into details, so Renata probably took it at face value that the staff was taking up the Patron's feelings towards Augie.
NOK

SAIMON!!! Er, I mean Saul. I was so thrilled to see him. I don't think he's been in any show I've watched other than LFMB. So far it's a little hard to see him as a dark character; he's so guapo and not in a hard-edged way.

Cheryl, clever theme and excellent recap. Your commentary is so on-point, as usual. I love the visual of Renata taking Dr. Delusional for a wheely spin out of the way.

Rosemary la Otra, I forgot to say how much I enjoyed your new ballad of the encounter o the desk. I keep wondering if the writers intend for us to feel badly for Marina. Is she supposed to be a sympathetic character? Well they've overplayed the whiing and she is NOT.

Güera

R la O, love the ballad of the third rate romance. If Jero could sing that to her, maybe she'd back off til the babes' birthday!

Lila

Cheryl: Count me in as loving the “Others” theme. And the pic of that lovely family.

David in IN: Son home safe. We all are ecstatic.

Marina and her “I’m the mother of his children” spiel makes me really dislike her. Like she’s going to be the only one. Like Nata will never give him children. It was a ONE NIGHT FREAKIN’ STAND. Well, not quite, but pretty much.

“she deeply thinks she could be with him based on that afternoon romp on the desk but then she needs to leave because no one else is into her delusion. “ Exactly!!!

I’m also hoping for a Chema miracle. I know it’s impossible, but . . . .

I have to say that I understand what Coni is doing. We know it’s a mistake because we see the evil people behind it. But I can believe that Coni doesn’t think she’s doing anything too terribly wrong.

Auggie wanting Saul to steal Marina from Jero is confusing. Maybe because taking her away, possibly without Jero knowing where they’ve gone, will cause him grief because of the babies. He’d move heaven and earth to find them and leave Nata alone and “vulnerable”?

Hmmm. Dr. Carlos likes (and defends) the flawed female characters and dislikes the flawed male characters. Verrrrrrry interesting ☺ OK. A lot of the women like (and defend) the flawed male characters and dislike the flawed female characters. Now that IS interesting.

I asked this before. Why do you think Alison has been introduced so late in the game? I figure Anibal was introduced to help bring Auggie down. But why Alison?

Avances: I thought Nata fainted because she found out she was Regina’s daughter. But could it be she’s pregnant? (I didn’t think of that until my friend at work mentioned it and now I think I get the little wink wink in the recap (I so miss the obvious, sometimes). Hopefully, it’s not a heart episode.

I’d like to ask the TN vets which one of the new TNs would be a good bet (actors, writers, producers, creators, director-wise). I thought I might keeping watching instead of waiting for Lu, FC (if they have any coming up) and/or SNs new one. I can only commit to one at a time (which is why I was majorly bummed when Alborada started right after CME, I was so looking forward to seeing that one). Maybe there’s an old one starting up on one of the other stations that you guys could recommend.

Güera- I think we're supposed to feel about Marina the same way Nata does-- annoyed! We don't wish her harm (well, maybe a good slap), and we don't want her dead because we know she's a good person at heart. But how we wish she would just disappear or at least shut up and stop making moon eyes at Jero.

I don't blame Jero for not being more harsh with her. She is pregnant and in a very delicate physical and emotional state. He wants his babies to be born healthy and he doesn't want to hurt Marina any more than he has already. He feels supremely guilty about it all. He has already made it clear how he feels (or doesn't) about her and how he feels about Nata. What else can he do without being really mean to her?

I for one am glad that Nata is taking the high road and not dwelling on finding Marina there, but instead dealing with the important stuff- getting her husband out of jail. I am so tired of tn characters that let jealousy rule their common sense (I'm talking to you Camilo over on LFDD). I also don't blame her for first trying to convince Augie to drop the defamation charges against Jero to see if that would help. Why not try everything? She moved right on to Plan B-- get Nesme to testify. Never close off any possibilities or give up. That's our Nata.

Guera:

What a good question! Do the writers intend us to feel sympathy for Marina?

I don't know. Marina is simmering—and suffering—in a soup of her own making. It is hard for me to see anyone suffer, even a TN character. But Marina is acting as though she believes she is a victim, instead of the creator and perpetuator of her own difficulties. The character has gone from playing a competent professional woman to acting like a blubbering puddle who will corral anyone, even a stranger in a jail, to tell them her sad story.

The storyline is hard to watch and Marina does not seem to be getting more grounded as time goes by. I find her anti-sympathetic and it is not hard to draw the parallel to Pepa/Fina's position 25 years ago.

More importantly, from the TN point of view, I do not see how the writers are going to redeem this character. She is so self absorbed and delusional I can't see her making a good mother to Jero's kids. Is she destined to be Renata's béte noir for ever?

EJ

It seems to me that whatever plan Augie has hatched is going to involve the fact that EVERYONE knows Marina is having a hard time "sharing" Jero and dealing with the situation. So this might be why the writers are harping on this particular point. I still don't know what he has planned with wanting Saul to seduce Marina away, but we didn't know his full plans for Zeke either until we saw the horrific result in flashbacks. I am not underestimating Augie's capacity to plan and execute clever and horrific ends for his enemies after that.

If some of us can still hope for redemption for Berta at this late stage in the game, certainly we can see Marina pulling herself together and getting back in the right track after some hard life lessons in the final weeks of the tn. I think Saul will have a lot to do with that.

As for why Alison. Why not? Anyway, Anibal needs someone his age to confide in, and living in Augie's house will certainly cause him lots of emotional turmoil, I'm sure.

What a fun recap Cheryl! Loved the wheelie bit!

Can you all believe that Maritatas persists in her poor little me cry fest? And OMG! The new big hair!

I've been wondering if there is a bit of a cultural divide here. Those of us brought up in the US culture aren't very tolerant of adult crybabies - at least not after the first time. We expect the person to get over it. Is it more culturally acceptable in Mexico to try to garner public support that way? At least two different nurses seemed to express heartfelt sympathy.

Plus there does seem to be some special social status associated with being the mother. How you can "dar el lugar" to the mother of your children when you are happily married to someone else - I have no idea.

Anyway, I'd love to get Jarocha's insight on this.

Cheryl, what a beautiful picture. I don't know how you can sleep with all of that happiness of blessed reunions. This news has also made my day.---"The Others" reference is too funny but oh so true.

Renata's face when she sees 'the other' in the wheelchair with her paw holding Jero's paw, priceless.

@Emilia. Sadly no we are still in NC. The sale of the house fell through this time. So we go back to square one. I read an article that said to bury a statue of San Jose on his head near the for sale sign and to say the listed prayer. I did that about a month or so now. While not being Catholic, Miguel (my husband)is and thought I was nuts for doing so.- I also have a San Jose santeria candle buring in front of a picture of the house on the mantle with a huge SOLD FOR $33K written across it.

At this point I'll be anyone's religion, burn anything and or cast a spell to get this property sold. LOL!

Valeena

After reading everyone's comments about Marina and Augustin, I wonder if Augie plans to somehow get rid of MariTata for Renata's sake? Or maybe he thinks Jero will follow, further driving a wedge between Jero and Nata? It's kind of a leap to think Nata would remain with him in the wine country but the guy is clearly delusional.

EJ, there seem to be a number of mirror or similar story lines, and it's interesting the different ways they develop. I'm hoping that Marina will cope with her "La Otra" status very differently than Fina did. I think young Pepa was worried about supporting herself and her child; Marina should have no such worries.

Valeena, I'm so sorry to hear the sale of your house did not go through. Bummer! But I'm laughing thinking of the poor upside-down statue buried in your front yard.

Valeena: Lord Ganesh is the Hindu god who is the Remover of Obstacles.

Valeena, if you do hit on the magic spell that gets a house sold, please let me know! My parents have been trying to sell their house for ages and can't even get anyone to look at it, the market is so bad.

I am absolutely baffled as to Augie's latest scheme, but I've no doubt the writers have something clever and dastardly coming down the pike. I hope Aníbal comes out of it unscathed.

Valeena:

I am so sorry your home sale fell through. You have my heartfelt empathy. My husband and I moved back into, remodeled, and sold our family house in less than a year (Summer 2010-Spring 2011), hence my long absence from TN-land.

It was so hard. The market had really tanked here in California and since we REALLY wanted the house to be sold we tried all the pujas and prayers we could find. We buried San Jose and Ganesha. We had Native American and Buddhist blessings said over the property. We also
1. Remodeled the kitchen and master bath to a very high standard with the help of my beloved bro-in-law;
2. Staged and super-cleaned the house ourselves;
3. Put more than half of our stuff in storage;
4. Decided to take a big financial hit up front just to get it sold. The house value had already dropped to less than half what it was worth in 2008. We priced it about 20% below what our broker said it should sell for and we had multiple offers within a week.

Valeena I'll think kindest thoughts that your house will now sell. It is so stressful living with an unsold house hanging over your head. Julia, I wish your parents luck on their home sale as well.

EJ

Güera, guilty as charged. I could not stand Aldo (LFMB) I also didn't care much for him as a galan in Apuesta por un Amor. On the other hand, I adore the letters for Juan commercials.

There were so many compelling reasons for him to be honest with her over this jail thing.

His recruitment of the hired help in his deception was probably the worst part. He could charm his way back into her good graces,,, what are Manuela, Lazaro, Herminia, Matilde, and even Carlos to do?

We can all guess what Alvaro wants... so is Renata going to insist that Kari go and visit Alvaro?

Surely not.

Carlos

Valeena--Hope you can hang in there until San Jose or Lord Ganesh comes through for you. Just don't burn the candle at both ends. Around here, $133K is a bargain!!

As long as we're off topic--if anyone out there needs an FC-TBLMOE fix, here's one that is nothing short of a hoot. Listen for FC's English. The clip is from Maria Mercedes 62.1. Start at minute 3.45 on the dot.

PUMP THIS!!!

What a wonderful blogger family I have. Thank you all so much for your concern, ideas and support.
--Clearing up one thing, the property I'm selling is my mom's home and property. Miguel and I moved in with her 5 years ago when she took ill.

Cap'n Sylivia, you have no idea how funny I looked digging the hole to put poor San Jose and the reading of the prayer with cars (although its rural) going by. LOL

Robey, Ah yes, Lord Ganesh, I'll add him to my Vision Dream Board.

Julia, Oh yes, I will most certainly let everyone know when the sale has gone through. Thanks.

EJ, Unfortunately the home is a 35 year old double wide mobile home. Miguel was did some wheelchair accessible upgrades to it when he had to leave two years ago. It either needs fixing up or just moved. The FSBO sign says "PROPERTY FOR SALE WITH FREE HOUSE" LOL

NOK, thank you and I won't burn the candles at both ends. Hee! (correction its 1.5 acres for $33K and a house..shhh, I'm off topic
:0))

I am sorry to have gone off topic, but am greatful to all of your comments and again support. I have a FSBO ad online, but will not post here as its not appropriate. If anyone would like to see it and pass it on, I can share it with you off blog.

Again, Muchissimas Gracias.

Word Verification is: BUYER. Now how cool is that? Whoo hoo!

Cheryl, home run, as usual. I loved the recap, from your title right on down. Thanks! I had missed a lot of dialog. Gotta, just gotta learn Spanish...

R la O, the Third Rate Romance ballad rocks. I may have to print it out!

And, Carlos, I agree with you about Jero in the hoosegow. I was humming, "If you can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with!" Yep, he loves Renata, but certainly doesn't mind a little hand holding and longing looks with Marina. Jero, oh Jero, it was that slap-and-tickle that got you into this mess...

Well, the wonderful thing about arriving late (again) is getting to enjoy all the superb comments and newsy sharings.

Cheryl, the recap was clever and witty as always. BUT THE PHOTOGRAPH WAS ABSOLUTELY SUPERB. UNFORGETTABLE. RIVETING. AWESOME. I could go on and on but you get the idea...you rock! And was your tribute to David and his son and all the sons and daughters who served with him and will go on serving. We are indeed blessed.

Since the conundrum of Maritatas has been extensively discussed, I can't help but add that as annoying as she is, surely we have to cut her some emotional slack. The woman is expecting twins! The result of a romantic delusion and bad decision yes...but the consequences are enormous. Having nursed some romantic delusions and made some bad decisions myself, I've got to sympathize with anyone who landed herself with twins. That can blow a tranquil life and medical career right out of the water. For the first year or so anyway.

Yes, Maritatas is annoying. But aren't we all are when things aren't going well for us? And eventually we get the ship righted, but this is a very unwieldy ship. I'm not surprised it's taking her a while.

I'm sure the writers want us to love Renata (and we do!) and root for the Jeronimo/Renata romance (which we all do...sans Carlos) but I still think we're supposed to feel a smidgen of sympathy for Dr. Tatas and hope she finds a gallant partner somewhere who'll share the joys and pitfalls of parenthood with her.

And Antonio (whom I loathed as a Grecian formula torero) is much more likable as a spiritual counselor. I can actually stomach him now.

Valeena..hope that double-wide sells. Sending you prayers and good vibes))))))))

No matter how annoyng, Marina is very present in our discussions and therefore in our thoughts when ever she advances her personal plot line. Judy, I agree that she derserves some sympanty and a lot of compassion for the difficulty of her positin. It doesn't matter that she was fluff headed and delusional from the get-go about Jeronimo but now she has a very non-delusional situation about to embracer her life forever. She is a huge PSA message with many aspects to consider. And to think, she is ott like many women especially in a place like Mexico in that she is highly educated and has a very employable skill that will both support her financially and give her deep spiritual satisfaction and intellectual stimulation. Many women any where in the world would give anything to have half of her gifts. Let's hope she wakes up in time to appreciate all that she really does have.

Thank you for all of the kind words for my portrait of Iptasam and Elia. I was just talking his older isster, Elas, on the phone today to urge them to attend the opening afternoon of the exhibition. Iptasam speaks intermediate English, but has trouble on the telephone, but the children are both completely bilingual in Arabic and English. What an advantage for them to have two important languages mastered already. It made me think about how the last thing I became comfortable with is speaking Spanish on the phone. When you don't have facial expression and other gestures to aid in understanding forces you to listen so hard.

At let us think kindly of Mike and Emilia who are facing tending his very ill Mother. Come laugh with us when you can get a break. We will all hope for peace and comfort for her.

Cheryl--I don't know how many people check into the column after CME has come and gone tonight, but please post again on tomorrow's recap about Emilia and Mike. I'm sure our community wants to know and our best deseos go out to them.
