Cuando Me Enamoro #156 Tuesday 11/29/11 Tales for Sale

Humbly submitted by Lila

From yesterday:

Maritata sniveling to Antonio, attentive but unmoved, insists that Tata gets real already.

We are introduced to Auggie’s latest purchase, Saul, the one that got away from Tata.  Auggie wants Saul to woo Tata away. . .far, far away.

Kari gets her divorce decree and is thus free to marry Super Laz. . .”dicen que las flores no dejaban de cantar tu nombre, tu nombre cariño” Juan Luis Guerra serenades us. . .

Nastynez crawls out from under his rock at The Rock to meet Renata who asks him to tell the truth about the feigned death plot.  What you gonna give me in return, he leers. . .

New stuff:

Renata doesn’t dignify his leer with a reaction.  All Renata has to offer him is the opportunity to clear his conscience.  Ah, that’s just cheap romanticism that doesn’t go far here in the pen sniffs Nastay.  Seems a cash cushion will make life easier. . .[gulp! Oh no, don’t do it Renata!]

The youngsters, Anibal and Alison stroll through the house at La Bonita.  He remarks that he is treated well here despite being Auggie’s son.  His motorcycle is still not out of the shop and it’s curious that at first Auggie wanted him to scram but now he wants him to stick around so they get to know each other.  Aye, this puts a light in Alison’s eyes, she’s like, cool, that means you’ll be around more?  Well, not cause I want to, but I need to Anibal looks away, pained.  Why, what’s up?  Anibal takes Alisons hands and vows to give her the whole truth but she has to swear not to tell a soul!

Back at The Cruz de Desamor Saul questions the logic of Auggie’s plan. . .Auggie quiets Saul’s qualms with a briefcase full of cash. . .is that enough for you to go to the parish and convince Marina to begin a new life with you.  You bet your sweet bippy it is grins Saul!  It’s a deal!

As we watch the sad, jaundice-toned replay, Anibal tells the story of his Mom dying of cancer about two months ago. . .there was always just him and his Mom, she never married.   It was her dying wish that he know of his roots. . . she instructed him to take out a box from the nightstand. . .within the box was the proof that Augustin Dunant is his Father.   Poor Hortensia had kept the letter in which Auggie told her to get an abortion and the check to pay for it.  How romantic. [What’s the male equivalent of a skank?]  Anibal doesn’t know what he’s going to do with the letter, he’s not sure what his next step will be.  Alison entreats Anibal to stay, maybe with time his Dad will accept him and even come to care for him.

Ahhhh, Hon enjoys a hot cup o’ joe while he cruises the news in the morning paper.  “Waaaah!” His comfy concentration is interrupted by the cute report of a baby’s cry.  Hon calls to Con as he gets up to investigate.  BUSTED!  What are YOU doing with this baby HERE.  Connie stammers she is taking care of her for Corina.  Hasn’t Regina warned you you cannot get involved with this woman.  She explains that Cornia has gone to her house to get more clothing and other things she needs.  Hon maintains that the baby cannot stay in their house.  No, it’s only for a couple of days pleads Connie.  Whoa!  Now it’s Hon’s turn to jut HIS jaw.

Awww, Chema of the dreamy eyes and cheek-sweeping lashes shares a subtle smile and ushers us to the next commercial break. . .and a lovely Adriana welcomes us back. . .

Isidro and Ines discuss Renata’s return to La Bonita:  this complicates Isidro’s efforts to confirm his suspicions.  Ines convinces Isidro to talk to Antonio and enlist his help in getting Renata’s finger prints.  After all, Antonio himself promised Regina that he would help her find her daughter:  we’ll help him keep his word!

Well, Hon is not making much headway with Connie, she’s got a serious baby buzz again!  You can’t get involved with a child that’s not yours, who sooner or later will have to go and it’s going to break your heart!  Well, I’ve thought about that, why don’t we adopt!  No! No! No!  Neither of us are of the age to start taking care of a baby!  Connie’s buzz dissolves into a pout.

Matias, Adriana and Julieta sit in a café discussing the Chema situation.  Julieta thinks it’s very strange that Chema doesn’t want to talk to them but has made a special point to have his Dad call them to ask them not to miss the grand opening.  Adri and Mati thinks he just needs to time to sort his feelings out and don’t think anything is amiss, Julieta is not convinced.

Oh, goody, things are about to pick up!  Here’s Fina and Berta who is informing malamama that the money is in the car and she’s not bringing her another peso!  Roberta tells Fina that Regina traced the ransom money and has recovered it from Fina’s accounts.  Maldita! spits Fina, but she’s not finished:  Inside Empresas Monterrubio is somebody who will tell Roberta exactly what she has to do to get the money Fina needs! “voy a buscar a nuestra asesora financiera.”  I’m going to get our financial manager chirps Fina with a bow.

Connie has regrouped and argues that plenty women her age have happily cared for newborns. . . .good for them but we don’t need it counters Hon.  I have emotional needs as well that caring for a baby can satisfy. . .well, when Adriana has children you can meet those needs as Abuela, not as Mother!  This is Hon’s last word and as soon as this bundle of (not) joy is well, she and her mother have to leave this house!  Hon cautions that he thinks Cornia is taking advantage of Connie.  Connie is like a pink record player with one broken disc and she just keeps going at Hon with her one tune but Hon stands firm:  you’re breaking the rules of Regina’s Hope and taking this too personal.

Holy loco-motion, it’s Blanca, the asesora financieraRoberta, working in the credit and collection section of EM is supposed to get clients making payments to make the checks out in her name and split the ill-gotten gains with Fina!? [Okay.  Anybody feel free to chime in here, I’m not sure how this is going to work even if Roberta was not unscrupulous, grasping and with zippo business saavy?!]

Okay.  Lovebirds back at Hoosegow Light.  Renata explains that NauseousNesme has agreed to “tell the truth” in exchange for dinero. . .Jero is as surprised as I was, this is like blackmail, no, don’t do it he says.  Renata sees this as a simple incentive or gratuity for doing what needs to be done.  [Once again, am I missing something here?  How is the purchased word of psycho-perverted-lush going to help Jero?]   Just for our Carlos, doubts are settled with kisses and sweet nothings from one side of the sun-drenched bars to the other! “Cuando me enamoro. . .”  Renata takes us to break with her sexy inhalation of the heady bouquet of a freshly-picked bunch of grapes. . .

A radiant Kari meets Super Laz at the Po-Po station, divorce decree in a green-means-go folder.  I feel Laz is restraining himself from one of his award-winning gritos when he simply picks Kari up off her feet in a joyous embrace.  Green does mean “go” as Kari proposes the get hitched right here and now!  Laz is way past ready.  Off they run hand in hand cute as can be to the Registro Civil. [I love the Kari song so much sometimes I don’t even hear what the two of them are saying but I got this loud and clear!]

Ho boy, here’s Ms. Ain’t got a professional bone in her body – Prissy – working amongst bubbling flasks and beakers questioning Charlie about Matilde, and marveling that he not only fell for such a country bumpkin but that his mother accepts her as well.  Charlie confesses that at first it was not so but she won her over.  Prissy calculates that she’s got a new card she’s gonna play in that Charlie never told Matilde they were novios.  [I thought Matilde found this out?]  Carlos attitude is “lo que no fue en tu año no te hace daño.  (If it’s not in your era, it shouldn’t scare ya).  We hear Prissy’s wheels-a turnin’ as Charlie hobbles off to look for Renata.

Uh oh, back in Sunnydale Hoozegow Jero is juro-ing to Renata that nothing is going to separate them.  [This is known as anvil whispering!]  Jero agrees that Nesme’s nasty palms may be greased [sickening metaphor, isn’t it?]  They discuss and then dismiss the lying Doctor Ezaguirre as an arse-covering, ethically-challenged wimp.  Anywho, Renata is to get cash from the safe at LB for Nas-T.  I don’t know if this is noble or stupid:  Renata doesn’t want Carlos to take the money to Nesme, she wants to do it herself!  At least she promises not to go alone and there’s more smooching between the bars. .

A smiling Saul pays TaTa and Padre a visit at the parsonage.  “Saul, que haces aqui?”  This is Saul, asks Tio Padre, the man that made you suffer so much?  [Oh Lord, there’s a pattern here].  Git yo’ ass outta here, snarls Padre, neither me nor my niece want anything to do with you!  Saul pleads that he’s come to ask her forgiveness, he’s looked for her everywhere, please listen.  Padre opens the door, Saul begs and Marina sits there, her usually quivering lips agape.

Speaking of lips, back to the Horny Hoozegow where Renata tries to kiss her way out of telling Jero that it was Auggie who told her he was in jail.  Jero is pissed.  Oh he was just trying to be helpful and offering his support.  Don’t be naïve, Renata Jero pleads, having backed out of kissing range.  Dunant’s a bad person.  Renata manages to drag him back to her lips, which Jero fights, trying to tell Renata about Auggie and Roberta’s shaggin’ behind her back while she was engaged to Auggie.  No importa, no importa she cries, chanelling Matilde as she swallows Jero’s protests in kisses. [Ok, Carlos, this time it was annoying!]

Meanwhile, Saul has taken a seat and Tata is listening.  Saul feigns surprise at her preganancy and use of a wheelchair.  How big of him, he still wants to talk to Tata even though she’s pregnant.  Padre, like us, shakes his head in disgust.

Laz and Kari in the Registro Civil explaining their crazy, mixed up courtship.  All the papers are in order and Laz gives a 2 on the Richter scale grito.  Okay, cool, do you each have two witnesses? Nooo. . .hang on you crazy kids, un momentito says to RC official and she leaves.  Well, who should be walking by the large internal windows of the RC office but Renata?  They anxiously beckon her in and pull her in on the happy plot.  Renata squeals, one witness down, three to go.

Tata and Saul talk in the courtyard, he’s gonna rebuild his life, blah, blah, blah, he knows his ADDICTION hurt her but he’s a new man and he continues to get his beg on, big time.

Padre seeks refuge in consultation with Antonio about this Saul who is the cause of Tata closing her heart to love, losing herself in her profession and low-cut cleavage-baring blouses. [emphasis mine]  Saul destroyed her past but Jeronimo represents the present and future Padre explains.  Padre is worried that Tata is vulnerable and may become reinvolved with Saul as a way out of her problems.  Donde hubo fuego, cenizas quedan.  Where there was fire, smoldering embers remain.

Our Darling Chema is at a travel agency and has called Selene on the phone, inviting her to the grand opening of his restaurant. . .where we find Julieta and Chema’s Dad.  The worry together about Chema’s state.  .

Hmmmm. Chema is buying tickets to Paris?  Yes.  Pah-ree.  It’s a dream of his, he always wanted to go there and study with the great Chefs.  Nunca dejes para mañana lo que puedes hacer hoy. [To prove this is also a learning space, those who don’t know the meaning of this saying, your assignment is to look it up].

Oh Boy!  Tony is talking to Isidro on the phone about helping him get Renata’s finger prints!  Isidro gets right to the point:  He thinks Fina and Roberta are breaking one off in everybody and he wants to extract the appendage as it were.  I want proof of what I suspect that Roberta IS NOT the daughter of Regina.  But there was a positive DNA test and Roberta has the same congenital heart defect as her Dad, Roberto.  Yeah, but fingerprints don’t change and Roberta’s do not match those on the birth certificate of the baby Roberto and Regina registered!  Isidro answers Tony that he’s not saying Roberta is faking the heart defect but that Renata could also have one.  Tony agrees to help get the prints!

And as the flowers sing her glorious name, Super Laz and Kari are pronounced Marido y Mujer in the company of Renata and three other witnesses the official gathered.! They share their first marital kiss as we are treated to a montage of the cheers, tears, trials and tribulations of our beloved and patient Novios!

Meanwhile, back at La Bonita Carlos startles Mati with one of his endearingly cute gestures:  the presentation of a paper flower [methinks thou shalt need more than that after Prissy filleth her ear]  Mati plays hard to melt,  declaring her annoyance over his friendship with Prissy.  Said Prissy has just thought-bubbled her skank application:  “No, he will not have eyes only for you.  Your eyes will return to me.  This “Matilde” will soon be a thing of the past.  I’m not going to permit you to continue with this foolish, absurd idea of marrying her.”

Now Saul is hauling Marina around in her chair continuing to put the beg on [her listening adds at least another couple of paragraphs to the excellent psych eval EJ gave her the other day] He offers to take care of her babies, to be their Father.  Oh, he’s going to give her a new life, be the couple they never could be before [hmmm, this is giving her pause, a decades-missing crack-head promising a new life. . .], he’s going to give her the family she always wanted. . .All Tata can offer is “don’t insist, Saul”.  With this half-assed protest he shifts it into high gear. . .Oh, you’re the love of my life, let me win you back. I don’t want to lose you again.   Thinking on this most attractive tale, Tata fades to grey. . .

[Aw shoot!  I thought I was going to get the outing of Roberta, had a title picked and everything.  So forgive my slightly lame title.  Oh well, it could be in no better hands than my friends who have capped and recapped this number from the beginning.]

Preview:   The Batty Bobsy Twins ramp their plan into the next level,  Auggie and Saul do the same and oh my goodness, did I see Chema slipping into darkness?

Thanks Lila! Thank you for a recapfull of hilarious perspectives.

Aha!! So BSCBlanca is not Anibal's mama. I'm glad because it gives me hope for him. Tough enough that Augustin is his dad. Poor kid. "Jaundiced-toned replay", hee, how true. And how clever of mom to keep the proof of paternity.

Oh my, I laughed when Hons heard the baby cry and he jumped up all in a dither and yelling for Cons.

"Serious baby buzz," LOL!! Our poor Hons and Cons have some stuff to work out.

I'm with you Lila. It's one thing for crafty Blanca to cheat the company. It's another thing entirely for clueless Berta to do it. Good luck, Estupida.

Yes yes yes, Laz WAS restraining himself! I'm so darn happy that these two crazy kids finally got hitched.

Favorite Lila-ism of the night: "Jero is juro-ing to Renata that nothing is going to separate them. [This is known as anvil whispering!]" Indeedy!!

"Horny Hoozegow", ha ha haha!!!! Girl, you're killing me.

Nunca dejes...yep my dear old gran used to say the same thing as ticket girl's abuelita. Gah, the restaurant grand opening looks tragic. I don't even want to speculate.

Lila, you are a treasure for filling in and we are the lucky ones who get to enjoy your clever wit. You were born to write.

Good work, Lila. This is a great one.

I dearly hope Renata doesn't cave and give NastyNesme a single centavo. He deserves prison justice for his sins.

Roberta will screw up very shortly and there will be an incredible showdown. And now that somebody has realized that Renata and not Roberta is Regina's daughter, how long is that revelation going to brew before it's served up?

"Anvil whispering"; sheer brilliance!

Word verification: vermi, which is only short one letter to describe Nesme and Augustin.

Thanks, Cap'n and UA! Before I comment on your comments, anybody know why there's a big square with an arrow in the middle as if there were a video to be played. Must be some hidden formatting in my word document? I guess we just ignore it, hunh?

Back later, eatin' breakfast, combing hair, make-in up all at la misma tiempo! See ya later, friends!

Lila

Lila- Muchas gracias!

Sylvia has pulled out many of my favorite lines from your recap, but anvil whispering was one of my favorites. Yes indeed. That's exactly what Jero is doing with all of these promises not to separate. We know that Augie has other plans.

Yay! Kari and Laz are finally hitched. Maybe the trick is to have a tiny wedding that hardly anyone knows about, like Gina-Gonzo Take 2. That way no one has a chance to get there gun beforehand.

I am so glad Ani is NOT related to Blanca. But I do feel sorry for the kid whose only relative is Augie. He also said his grandma died a few years back. I think he'll be a long-term resident of La Bonita by the time this all wraps up. Hey, maybe everyone will be living in La Bonita by the end!

Chema looked a happier this episode, pursuing his big dream of cooking in Paris. Last episode I was as worried as Julieta that he had bittter/vindictive plans for why he wanted everyone at the opening. But now I don't think he'll be bitter towards everyone, but forgiving and understanding.

I'm not sure how I feel about Nata paying Nasty. I was shocked she was ok with it. Usually our "good" tn characters get on their high horse about things like bribes. But Nata was like, "whatever, if that's what it takes, so be it." I have had to resort to bribery of officials at least twice in Latin American countries. Sometimes you have no choice.

Saul wasn't a drug addict, but a gabling addict (adicto al juego). Still, not a guy you want to jump back into a relationship with. Why is Augie so sure this guy can win Tata back, considering they had such a painful breakup?

I haven't time to read the recap before class but I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Laz & Kari last night. I loved it when he told her he wanted to ca-ar contigo hoy - mis- mo punctuated with kisses. adorable

It was also fun when Berta happily let Fina know that all the money was drained from the bank accounts so this was her last visit. That look of triumph faded fast -- and she sure caved to the manic duo's demands without blinking those over made up eyes.

See you all after class.

Güera

Guau...another whiz-bang recap, full of delicious Lila-isms. Loved "Nastynez", "serious baby buzz", "malamama" and the winner....

"Connie is like a pink record player stuck on the same disc"

Mind you, Honorio is too much like a blustering bossy take-charge guy when he rants to her for my taste. Still, I understand this is how most things go in a Latino marriage. The man calls the shots. Period. So she sulks like a child (having been treated like a naughty one) and plans to keep on keepin' on.

Also got a kick out of your juicy translation of "lo que no fue en tu año...". Very cute.

I agree with Sylvia, you were born to write, and now we all get to enjoy it!

Lila,I love reading your take on things as you recap.

Cracked up a "You bet your sweet bippy"...haven't heard that phrase in awhile. Still head-scratching how hooking up Saul and Tata gets Auggie what he wants. Is he thinking if Dr. WhyAren'tYouShowing takes off, Jero would follow? Or that he would get so upset that Nata then would go running to Auggie? Just not totally getting this convoluted plan.

Loved Laz and Kari. And having Nata as the witness from the group was perfect since she's as zany as they are. One couple down ( or I hope-give these kids a break. They've been thru enough).

Now, since I work in Finance at a major corporation, Blanca's instructions to Berta in the US wouldn't fly. First, for tax purposes, no vendor would address their payables to a person to pay for corporate items. Secondly, from the EM standpoint, internal and external audit on SOX rules would catch checks being sent to a person vs. the corporation in a second. There has to be a W-9 on file for the payments with the tax ID registered for the vendor. This is no small corporation, but I don't know the rules in Mexico.

And who out of the keystone gang though putting a spoiled, untrained brat into the Accounts Receivables dept. was a good idea? Beanie moment.

Poor Chema, will he ever really get to Paris? Really so sad.

Now for the let's pay off Dr.Dregs? WTH! I thought Nata was smarter than that. It's called a bribe in any court of law if that ever comes out -and this is a TN, so you know it will. So frustrated with this plot twist.

Hope Ultimate episodes doesn't translate that people get suddenly stupid.

Good morning! Sylvia, UA, Vivi, Guera, Judy and Daisy. Vivi thanks for the correction on Saul's addiction, so he's a gambling crackhead! Anywho, you guys make the show and discussing it SO much fun. As you see, I cannot believe Renata is buying a tale, even if true but hey, stand by your man, I guess. Please have at the EM fraud scheme and the wooing of Tata. I'm going to try to be a good girl and stay on task today. . . .see y'all later.

Absolutely delightful, Lila! Thank you! My favorites: "pink record player", "anvil whispering" and Marina's "usually quivering lips agape". AND you even gave us homework to look up the saying!

Judy - please don't be mad at me for saying this after your heartfelt defense of Dr. Tata yesterday, but I swear I heard a nationwide (Caray Nation) groan when the show started with her sniveling. First thing... that's what we see? She is so weak, I bet she'll fall for Sexy Saul and remember that HE is her eternal love. But, why, writers, why?

Chema is just so sweet. Telling his father he isn't in the mood to talk to his "friends", but still wants them to attend the opening. Calling Selene, booking a trip to Paris, looking to the future. How can we not hope for a miracle? Maybe just this once?

I am floored that Blanca is not Anibal's mom. I really thought that was the case. Seems our Emilia is cleverer than the writers cuz that would have been an amazing plotline! Maybe she's an aunt? I can't give this thread up yet.

I hope that Nata knows there is no good to come out of giving a prisoner any more money than he can buy cigarettes with. Does she want Dr.DyeTheTopOfMyHeadOnly to pay for an escape? Maybe it will be used for protection, but how can she know? Does she want Kari and Laz's blood on her hands just days after witnessing their marriage? Think this through, Renata, and go to your Plan B.

I also love the Carina song, Lila. I wish there were a soundtrack for this telenovela, or maybe I should once and for all learn how to download songs. I am still in the CD buying mode. Hmmmm... I am getting an idea for when my son asks me what I want for Christmas, since he is into downloading. I am assuming the songs are listed in the credits? I'll have to watch for that tonight. It will give me something to look forward to if Chema drops.

Rosemary la Otra

Lila, this recap is so very well-crafted and hilarious. You have such a smooth, clever style of writing. Of course my favorite lines are:

"Just for our Carlos, doubts are settled with kisses and sweet nothings from one side of the sun-drenched bars to the other!"

"[Ok, Carlos, this time it was annoying!]"

Thanks for understanding.

At first I was appalled by Renata's incredible lapse of judgement in agreeing to Alvaro's demand, but when she yielded to Jerry's insistence that she take someone with her... I saw a delicious opportunity open up. Who better for her to ask along on this fool's errand than ... tada!... Augie.

My heart truly went out to poor Chema last night. When he called Selene to invite her to the grand opening of his restaurant, he initially sounded cheery and hopeful until:

"Your novio? Yeah sure... bring him along."

Maybe he'll get lucky in Paris.

Carlos

Lila, thanks for your great recap. I am disappointed that Renata decided to bribe Dr. Icky. This is just a ploy to separate Renata from Jero.

Great idea Carlos! Nata might do that..she still won't entirely listen to anyone how what a slime the guy is.

My other hope is she, or someone who would show her, finds that letter of Ani's regarding his paternity. A Telenova "AHA!" moment in the making if I ever saw one.
And thinking, if the restaurant opens, but plans to take off...who will be the chef or run it? May be the shortest opening/closing of a restaurant ever. Or will Dad and spare girl decide to take it over?

Okay, I only said I'd try to stay on task at work; Daisy at 9 a.m. Thanks for that non-beanie analysis of the Fina/Blanca plot. .I knew it was screwey!

Thank you R la O! Girl I'm still into CDs too, AND I call them "albums" and I ain't a bit ashamed!

Gracias de verdad Carlos! Everytime Renata and Jero smooched, I thought of your exquisite rant yesterday. When she wouldn't let him tell her about Auggie going with Roberta I really felt ya!

Karen, what is Renata thinking? Do we even have time for this to backfire in their faces?

Hey daisy, what if Renata finds the "kill my kid" letter. That oughta knock Auggie off the pedestal!

Lila

Oh. Spanish students and friends. Extra credit for you. In the dicho: "Nunca dejes para manana lo que puedes hacer hoy." There is a diacritical mark missing in one of the words. Which word and what is the mark. Thank you.

;D Lila

Lila, what a delightful recap, thank you so much.

Do we now know how Batty Blanca embezzled money from EM? If so, no wonder she is in jail.

I hope Nata takes Antonio with her to see Dr. Nasty. Maybe he came talk some sense into him, after all he is making headway with Tatas.

If Augie bites the dust, will Anibal inherit from Augie? That would be justice.

Rosemary #1

I am really tired of Renata playing doormat to Baby Daddy Jero. If he can't tell Dr. Tatas to get out of his life, I think if I were Renata, I would. It is one thing to be a parent and a totally different thing to have a second family.

Rosemary #1

Lila:

This is a knock-em-dead recap. You may not have published before two weeks ago but let this be incentive for you to start now. Boy, can you WRITE!

Some of my favorites from the recap:

—“We are introduced to Auggie’s latest purchase, Saul”. What in heaven’s name is Augustin up to with this plot? The writers have sure got me going with this one.

“As we watch the sad, jaundice-toned replay, Anibal tells the story of his Mom dying of cancer about two months ago. . .there was always just him and his Mom, she never married”. So now we know, no Blanca-momma. I heave a sigh of relief for sweet Anibal.

“Well, Hon is not making much headway with Connie, she’s got a serious baby buzz again”! Wonderful encapsulation of this whole encounter!

On the Renata-Nesme interaction…”[Once again, am I missing something here? How is the purchased word of psycho-perverted-lush going to help Jero?” No, dear Lila, you are missing nothing; this transaction is out-of-character and morally repugnant.

Thank you, Lila, for giving me such an enjoyable romp through last night’s epi. Beautifully written and well observed, Brava! Brava!

EJ

Good morning all. So sorry about that weird box in the recap. I posted in Firefox and didn't see it at all! When I viewed it in IE lo and behold there was a giant box. Thanks Lila for letting me know. I removed it. I also added the tilde to the dicho, I didn't even notice it last night.

Rosemary #1 I LOVE the thought of Anibal inheriting Cruz de Desamor. There might finally be peace in the Valle and it looks like Anibal is interested in wine.

OK then, if Blanca is not related to Anibal then just who is she related to in the wine country? I'm not giving up yet. There's got to be a link, or maybe I am just grasping at straws. Maybe Fina is her only link. The previews make it look like those two are definitely up to no good.

R la O:

You did it again, you made me laugh out loud in the office, causing several folks to raise their eyebrows at me; what could be so funny as to make me laugh uproariously right before I facilitate a 'cancer patients and their families' support group?

This is what did it:
"Dr.DyeTheTopOfMyHeadOnly".

Still LOL

EJ

Lila, thanks for a verbally visual and superbly fun account of last night's episode. I didn't get to see it. It turns out that when the Army says "Your son will be on the ground at 2:15 PM and you can visit him for an hour," what they really mean is "You won't get to see him until after 4 PM." The twins wore their Emilia beanies and had the eye of the thousand or so people in attendance; my wife was repeatedly asked where one might aquire such cute hats. For some reason, many couples went from the chilly hanger out through the blowing sleet to sit in their freezing cars together, but then the windows would fog up, so I never figured out what that was all about.

The last episode I saw had Nata walking in on Tatas holding Jero's hand and trying to foist off an ultrasound image of the twinklets on him. I was so happy that they worked through that and were laughing and groping within seconds, and that later Nata firmly layed down the ground rules back at La Bonita to the house staff. Sounds like the Jero-Nata partnership is holding in this episode.

I agree with Vivi, quick quiet weddings are the most peaceful, but is it valid? Seems almost axiomatic that by (TN) Mexican law, a few rounds must be fired off.

David

David, good to hear that you were eventually able to connect with your son. Fogged up windows...that made me laugh, what a great visual.

EJ, it sounds like they could use your services in the DF. Maybe Ben wouldn't have insisted that everyone lie to Chema if he'd had some sensitive and professional guidance.

Thanks Lila for the great recap. And I have to say, I’m curious as to what your “Roberta reveal” ep title is. I hope you’ll recap a TN regularly in the near future.

Sylvia: “I'm with you Lila. It's one thing for crafty Blanca to cheat the company. It's another thing entirely for clueless Berta to do it. Good luck, Estupida.” Cracked me up.

Vivi: “Maybe the trick is to have a tiny wedding that hardly anyone knows about, like Gina-Gonzo Take 2. That way no one has a chance to get there gun beforehand.” So true. I think it would be nice if Laz and Kari had their religious portion of the ceremony as a double wedding with Carlos and Mati. But maybe because Kari is divorced, she can’t have a religious ceremony.

Daisynjay: “And who out of the keystone gang though putting a spoiled, untrained brat into the Accounts Receivables dept. was a good idea? Beanie moment.” I thought the same thing. But these people seem to be clueless when it comes to new hires.

Carlos: Nata taking Auggie along would be interesting. Though didn’t Jero tell her that Auggie tried to kill Dr. Death? She is Marinastyle delusional about Auggie and is in for a very rude awakening. If she takes Aug to the jail and sees Dr. D’s expression, she’ll have to realize what Jero is telling her is true. I get it that she considers Auggie a friend and he’s always treated her right, or so she thinks, but I would hope, considering how much it bothers Jero having Auggie around, that she would respect his wishes and not go out of her way to include Aug.

David: So happy your son arrived home safe.

Mike and Emilia: My thoughts are with you.

Robey

Mike and Emilia - I'm just getting caught up with all this, so just read about your situation. My thoughts are with you.

I have some advice for Prissy: Wanna be competative? Get a headband!

Oops, that last unsigned post was me.

Hey Rosemary la Otra...noooo, I'm not mad. Heartfelt defense or no, there's no arguing that Dr. Tatas is annoying. Alas, legitimately depressed people are also annoying. They even get on their therapist's nerves! So they certainly get on ours.

Now your favorite song (mine too) is Mi Bendición by Juan Luis Guerra. Have one of your adult children set you up with iTunes and then you can download these songs. It's a breeze (once you learn how) and it's great. And you can buy one song for $1.29 instead of a whole album where the result is (probably) crap. Then you can look up the lyrics on google and sing it all around the house as well.

JudyB:

You are right about Marina and her depression. Depressives are miserable to be around, esp. for their therapists. Hahahahaha.

Someone here on Caray, pls forgive me for the lack of attribution, mentioned recently that Americans have a particular aversion to self pity. My experience is that this is very true. There is still a lot of grin-and-bear-it, or stiff-upper-lip in our culture. I confess, I have a very hard time watching someone suffer, especially if the suffering is increased by their own actions. I sometimes want to meet extremes of self pity with a (metaphoric) slap up' the side of the head.

What a fine thing it is if our TN"hobby" helps us learn more about ourselves.

Lila, ADM, tu eres muy chistosa! I 'larfed my butt off with your "Horny Hoozegow", I'm still laughing and clearing droplets of coffee off my keyboard.--I was also happy that I figured out your assignment diciendo without an online translator. I 'don't talk good Spanglish neither';)

Sooo happy Kari and Super Laz are finally married. Yes Vivi, tiny and spur of moment weddings leave no time to get a gun. Priceless!

EJ! Thank you, thank you so much! Renata offering to payNesme was really shocking! Is this a little bit of Fina influence that seeped into her otherwise spotless character. I know she's only human but I sure hope this doesn't happen!

Thanks, Cap'n, that box was a shock, too. No prob! It was my fault: I have to check that there's no hidden code in my submissions! And yeah, where the hell (literally) did Blaaaaanca come from?

David! Argh, how agonizing the wait! how sweet the reunion! And what cute (unintentional) ads for Emilia's beanies your darling grandtwins must've been!! Yah, David, Renata and Jero ARE hangin' together and sure did as much groping as they could through those bars last night!

Thank you Robey! I was so proud of that title, but in case I end up getting to recap that episode, I'm keeping it under wrap! This is hard work but rewarding: if a novela I love came along it's nice work if you can get it! Dernit! I know Renata is thinking about how wrong a good person can be about the character of another whom they've misjudged. You're right, unfortunately it's going to take a RUDE awakening to open her eyes to Auggie! I hope the abortion "love letter" will be enough!

Ok, not sure what everyone is referring to but I send prayers and hugs to Mike and Emilia.((((((M&E))))))

Off to cook and stuff!

Lila

"Humbly submitted by Lila"...Lila, dear, there is NO need to be humble when you've got the goods to back up a giant ego! Your recaps are beyond delightful.

Honorio is being less than honorable at the moment. If he just doesn't want a baby, he has every right to say so, but telling Constanza that she's too old and daft to manage one is hardly a diplomatic way to put the kibosh on her dreams. Also, they are still fairly young and spry, and they can certainly afford to hire a nanny to help out. No reason he needs to lose sleep if he doesn't want to. Plus, they don't stay babies long, and I would think Honorio would enjoy having an older child. Why is he so dead set against it? What if they adopted an older kid? He really isn't even considering Constanza's very strong maternal feelings.

Also, WE know the plot with little Amparo is going to go badly for Coni, but with the information she has, I don't think she's done anything wrong (aside from pretending she's going to back off and hiding the situation from Honorio and Regina). Why wouldn't you help out a baby whose mother is doing a lousy job of keeping her healthy? Rules and regs seem irrelevant when you're looking at a sick, helpless child; compassion is not a bad thing.

So Aníbal has no place to go and no family left other than Augie. Poor kid. Yes, Renata needs to see that letter and check, and then she can adopt him. Even if he's only a few years younger than she is.

EM needs to revamp their hiring policies in a major way. None of them really wanted Roberta working there, so why didn't they tell her she needed to go to school for a few years first, rather than ushering her straight into the executive suite?

That was a beautiful wedding. Good thinking, Kari and Laz. I was of the opinion they should call the hacienda and have Mati, Carlos, and Manuela come straight to town to be their other witnesses, but probably in that much time something would have gone totally wrong, so better that they just rounded up the office staff.

All the best to Mike and Emilia in these challenging times with Mike's mamá. Virtual hugs: {} {}

I also missed what Mike & Emilia's situation is but I'm keeping healing thoughts for you both whatever the source of your trouble.

Lila this was a great recap -- no need for humility. I was laughing all the way through.

I loved the string of jailhouse terms hoosegow Light, Sunnydale Hoosegow and the best -- Horny Hoosegow.
Also love Crus de Desamor -- and the description of Honorio " Now it’s Hon’s turn to jut HIS jaw" and of course the pik record player.

The wedding scene was so cute and you described their mood with the"divorce decree in a green-means-go folder."

I don't understand what Auggie has in mind but I love your description of Saul - the cause of Tata closing her heart to love, losing herself in her profession and low-cut cleavage-baring blouses. [

You have a wonderful talent for writing. Thanks

Güera

Fabulous recap, Lila! I love all your clever turns of phrase and the translated dichos which are all useful ones this time. Sorry you didn't pull the outing of Roberta either but you go a lot of great plot twists to laugh about. crazy episdode with lots of set ups.

As an old financial consultant asesora financiera myself, my take on the task assigned to Roberta the Rube is thus: Blanca told her to get her name on the bank accounts signature list so she can be aware when accounts are received then she can turn around and write a check out. Anyone else catch the exact wording??

So many great new phrases, Lila. I am so glad you joined the team with fresh energy from you and from Elan June, we can laugh all the way to the finale.

Thanks for all the wonderful wishes, y'all. Mike's mom has pulled an 'Energizer Bunny' and perked up a lot yesterday evening. We know that this is only temporary and things will decline again soon. She's a stubborn lady and will go on her own terms! We really appreciate all of our Caray friends. Hugs to all.

Lila, I will try to post my appreciation for your most excellent recap. On my way to the nursing home.

My word verification is 'taxes'. Oh NO!!

Thank you for the great recap.
Is Chema going to be in Paris for the opening of his restaurant and leave all the guests wondering where he is? Maybe he'll leave a note. I suspect that's why he is insisting that everyone be there. One final tearjerker letter(maybe video) and Chema is never seen again.
The only thing I hope Renata gets out of Nesme is him telling her what Augustine has been up to. For someone who grew up with a mommy and sister who hate her and lied to her repeatedly, she sure is trusting.
I have to say that I can't stand the smoochy smoochy Jeronimo and Renata scenes. I confess to changing the channel. It's just too over the top for me. And I wish Isidro would hurry up about the fingerprints. I watch with bated breath for the time when the truth is known to all.
Cathy

Chema should take the cutie travel agent to Europe with him, find a doctor who will treat his tumor, and live happily ever after, leaving nothing but a note for everyone who lied to him.

Hola, amigos! A little more detail on my mother is that the nursing home sent her to the hospital for evaluation of low (80/40) blood pressure and "listlessness." Well, dehydration will do that, I guess. Couple of bags of saline seemed to do the trick and she was back at the nursing home the next (Monday) afternoon. She really looked awful in the hospital and I thought she would be gone within hours. Anyway, by yesterday, she was up and in her wheelchair. Still mad as a March Hare with the dementia, but physically better than she was Sunday.

So - all of you lovely recappers: Thank you so very much! As goofy as the TNs can be, Caray has become our island of sanity compared to the daily visits to the nursing home. We refer to it as the "manicomio."

The guy I'm feeling really bad for right now is Benjamin, Chema's dad. To finally reconnect w/ your kid after years away to find him dying is just awful. The actor's doing a good job.

The Sunnydale Hoosegow and all that canoodling... I had my last trip to Germany in '93 and still remember an ad on German TV for "Das Jailhouse F**k" (seriously and it was hilarious to hear a German announcer drop the "F" bomb) which was a genuine authentic iron bar cell door to prop up or lay flat or whatever gratifies your kink. Think it was the result of an entrepreneur answering the question of what to do with all these abandoned Stasi prisons once East Germany ceased to be. Yes, German TV is not like American TV. There was an implicit admonition to take turns shackling and being shackled.

What brilliant detective brought this Saul character to Augustin's attention? Weird. Maybe we'll get to watch a sleaze on sleaze contest between those two at some point.

A dummy like Roberta getting involved in corporate finance is a "no puede ser" in the first place, let alone towards a criminal end.

Thanks again, everyone, for the concern and good wishes.

OH, Julia, I wish there was a "Like" button here for your last comment!

Mike, I'm so glad your mother has been revitalized. What a relief.

Is that "Das Jailhouse F*%#" still available? Sounds like this year's must-have Christmas gift!

Didn't we see a preview of Chema collapsing at a gathering, I assumed was the restaurant? Maybe he changes his mind about going to Paris, or maybe he plans on going after the opening leaving Ben and Julieta to run it for him or not as they please.

Good news Mike and Emilia.

Robey

Julia, I'll bet Harrod's offers a Louis Vuitton version w/ Hermes scarfs for, say, 39,000 pounds. Plus shipping, of course.

A bargain at twice the price.

Lila--I was out all day. Wonderful, wonderful recap. I agree with everyone that you should be writing (for us, naturally)--we understand your pain and frustration better than anyone (along with the snarky stuff). Thank you for some more good Nesmeisms**.

Rosemary #1--I think you've got it--we've all been puzzled as to why Anibal was brought in to late. Of Course, a Major Antagonista must die. I wonder if he's made out his will. Without it, it would go to a next of kin (hopefully).

My word verification is "shysturr" definitely something that Blanca and Saul can relate to. Saul, if you recall is hungry for the moola because he's heavily in debt--as a result of his gambling addiction, I'm sure...so he's not a reformed man.

**Stay tuned after EL FIN, Cap'n Sylvia and I have a special treat for CME sufferers.
NOK

Oh, and Emilia and Mike--
My thoughts and wishes for the best are with you, too. Mike, I need a recharge every once in awhile, so I'd love to know where your mom plugs in. She sounds like someone I'd really love to know.
NOK

Well, given her present state of mind, I'd have loved to have known her when!
NOK

Mike--Your question re: What brilliant detective brought this Saul character to Augustin's attention? Weird

Augie was chest thumping to himself that he found this guy on the internet. How he found out that he was once Maritata's novio and that he is bankrupt is another thing (only in tnovelaland).

What Augie can't control is Marina's intense revulsion of this guy trying to get back into her life. There's no comparison between him and Jero. A bankrupt n'er do well who broke her heart or a rich, handsome guy who broke her heart. Hmmm. Methinks in the last scene Saul was glueing her heart back a bit.
NOK--again (where there's time, there's always something else to say)

Oh, I see Cap'n Sylvia already noted the missing tilde from the dicho.

Wow, Lila! No reason to be humble! That was an awesome recap, and so funny!

I looooooved the stuck pink record player ROTFLOL!

Audrey

Phew! Cooking and stuff turned into a 5-hour slog! Sheesh!

Hi, Valeena! You get an A! Thanks!

Thanks, Julia, for that well-reasoned, fair and compassionate defense of Coni's maternal yearnings. Good points!

Güera! Thank you so much, you are so kind. You guys putting up with my scattered brain is really heart warming!

Hi Cheryl. Thanks for that description of the Fina finagling. This being a novela, I'm sure Berta will get away with it for a while. Cheryl, how refreshing for ME to find someone other than my family to tolerate my brand of zaniness!

Emilia! Prayers for strength and healing grace to you all. . .my heart goes out to you!

Cathy, you are welcome, thanks for reading it. I don't know what Chema plans. Haven't looked at my recording yet but I think it's going to be sad. I agree Cathy, I want to truth to be known about Roberta and more than seeing her punished I want to witness Regina feeling and expressing the real love of her real daughter!

OMG Mike! Jailhouse ***k - oweeee, that's hot and fun-ny!

Thanks NOK! Hmmmm, a special treat hunh? Goody! Goody!

Audrey, thank you! This recappin' is fun and you guys make it well worth all the work!

Lila
