Cuando Me Enamoro #148 Wednesday 11/16/11 Run, Ezeq! Run!! Tantrum man is at it again and Nata makes Jero host Tantrum man's son at LaB

Recap by Marta Ivett...

Previews:
Hono and Gonzo welcome German Ibarrola(?) to company as associate.
Augie threatens Ezeq about opening his mouth and Jero appologizes to him for giving his name. Ezeq tells Jero why he is nervous, he does not want to go because he has history with law…
Augie’s son arrives… talk about the past coming to catch up with someone! payback is a B...

Tonight:
Ezeq explains to Jero he does not want to go because he has history with the law… previous crime issues. He is afraid the whole town will find out he used to be in jail. Jero appologizes. Ezeq hopes noone will find out about his past…

The shop man tells Nata the motor bike will be fixed in a couple days. Anibal is anxious to open the compartment of the bike but the shop guy says won’t be able to open it until the dent is fixed.
Nata offers to pay the fix bill since she feels she caused the incident.

Nata asks Anibal if he is here looking for Augie… everyone knows him, he is the owner of CdA!! Boy gets a bit ansy saying he was looking for Augie but was not sure he was the owner of CdeA. Nata offers to take him there.

At CdeA Augie is SOOO happy to see Nata, but she brings Anibal Cuevas (boy) to see him. Anibal drops the bomb on Augie right away, he is the son of Hortensia Cuevas… and Augie abandoned her in Aguas Calientes… He came to meet his dad, HIM, Agustin Dunant… Impactada faces all over.
After Alfo/Marina scene, Augie is in high defcon tantrum mode. Augie denies everything… Surely you found out I had a relationship with your mother and now came to try to take advantage of me.
Anibal tells Augie that it was not his mom but his grandma who told him Augie was his dad before she died. Augie questions why did grandma not tell him until now? Because mom asked her not to. Mom never wanted him to go meet with his dad. (and you should have listened to your mom, kid!)

Alfo is visiting with Marina and brought baby Luz. Alfo is thankful to Marina… Alfo is worried about Marina’s spirits… IT is real hard to be on bedrest 24/7. Alfo asks about Jero but Marina is not going to talk about that. Alfo brought yarn to teach Marina to knit. (Alfonsina, you should know better than mess with a triangle between two married people and someone in love with one of you, its none of your business, girl! let them be!)

At La Bonita Jero is getting ansy about Nata taking long to take Antonio to the church and getting back. Jero tries calling Nata’s cell but Nata left her cell there. They both agree that bad news travel fast… Jero calls church, Marina answers. She tells him Nata and Antonio have not arrived but she is not willing to extend the call so she basically hangs up on him. She is not happy with the call asking for Nata. Alfo wonders how Marina can handle that situation…

Augie is still ticked about Anibal’s appearance… Anibal calls him a wretch.. leaving and won’t ever come back! Augie is on high defcon tantrum again. Anibal is mad too, says he met him and have nothing else to do here.. Anibal leaves. And now it is Nata’s turn to rat at Augie. She is not in agreement on how he took the news or how he handled the situation. All she knows is this boy came to find his roots.. Then she puts herself in his shoes. She just found out who was her father. She understands Anibal. She just learned who was her dad and she is at peace with it now. Augie insists the boy is wrong. Nata gives him unsolicited advice… think about it, change your demeanor, find out the truth, and maybe you will realize this kid COULD be yours… She leaves and Augie kicks the candles on his coffee table… tantrum still at defcon one… poor candles. (Augie needs to take some serious anger management training and not drive anywhere until he gets some help, otherwise everyone for himself out there!!)

Karina happy that Jero lent Lazaro the money to build his house… Lazaro is aaawed by Jero’s generosity and at same time he wonders why Ezeq is still working at CdeA… maybe they treat him right there… NOT!... what kind of house do you want? How big a kitchen? How many kids/rooms? … they talk about four.. Lazaro is wondering how they will support them.

Mati and Carlos are also talking… he is talking about this woman coming to help him mix the wine. She is not going to to sub him, she is just going to help him. Mati says after all it was good that Carlos’ mother came and trained her a bit. Carlos insists he loves her how she is. Mati keeps changing the subject when he brings up the enologa visit again… Obviously Mati is jealous even before this woman gets to town… He says he knows her well… Mati changes subject back to the wedding… she wants to get married already… Carlos stops insisting in talking about the woman.
Mati gets smoochy with him now…

Nata catches up with Anibal and it takes some convincing but she gets him to come to La Bonita to stay the couple days, she has to offer him a job taking care of Gitana (even though he says he has never cared for animals). Anibal reminds Nata she is friends with Augie and he wants nothing to do with Augie. Nata says her husband and Augie don’t get along. Anibal says her husband is a smart man. She gets on her own story telling again about not knowing her dad and her mom not loving her, so she knows the pain of having the people who gave you life not loving you. Finally Anibal is convinced to stay, since there is no other option. As he is getting in her SUV, she says all he has to know is how to brush… you do brush your hair every day, don’t you? (he has a rather spiky haircut LOL)

Berta is making friends with German, the new MR associate. The guy she spilled her coffee on. She builds the story that her marriage with Matias only lasted a few months because of Adri…
She would love to tell him the story but not at the company, noone is fond of her there. SO he invites her to dinner sometime. She accepts.

At MR manor the maids are taking Fina’s things out of the house… Gonzo wants Gina to remodel/redeco the house but she says will have time for that later, after the company is stabilized for good. Gonzo tells her about the new associate. Again he offers to buy another house for her, but she says without Fina’s things the air is cleaner (no, woman, no matter what you do you should burn that house down to the ground as if Fina were a vampire)… we are together, Berta away from Fina’s influence, the virgin granted me the miracle. (don't say i did not warn you)

At MR offices, Adri and Matt are working on setting aside Berta’s salary… Adri mentions that Berta seemed too casual with the new associate. Matt felt the same thing but he would rather not interfere. Adri reminds him that she does not like Berta at all to begin with..

At CdeA, Augie is taking it on the poor desk with the letter opener pick… ‘Darn escuincle! You came to mess things even more.. everything is getting more complicated. My image with Renata is getting worse. I can’t allow that! Even though I don’t want to, I have to change strategy with that intruder. And maybe it will be him, my supposed child, who will bring Nata and me together…’

At La Bonita Nata has told Jero the story… Jero is not thrilled at all with Anibal staying at LaB… he is rather strongly saying no… after thinking Nata was kidding. Nata offered Anibal pay and food and a room while he takes care of Gitana. Jero is not in agreement with Anibal staying. Because he is Dunant’s son… Jero is finally finding to live at peace and happy in his hacienda and with his wife… Nata reminds Jero that he had swore that this was HER hacienda and she could order as the owner. Jero insists that he doesn’t want Anibal to stay. So Nata pulls another card, she reminds him she let Marina stay here even though it was a really uncomfortable situation. Jero is still not sold on it at all. Nata turns on the charm…

Lazaro finds a very concerned Ezeq and talks to him. Lazaro tells him he looks as if he was carrying the whole world’s weight. Ezeq says Augie’s attitude is concerning him. He has the feeling Augie is suspecting Ezeq opened his mouth about Areli and maybe even about the grape spurt. Lazaro brushes it off as Ezeq mind…. Ezeq insists he is getting a really ugly gut feeling. He can’t stop working at CdeA and he can’t turn his back on Augie… He feels he will always have to work for Augie. Lazaro is concerned for Ezeq.

Back at MR manor, Ines came by to tell Gina about her concerns with Constanza and the baby… Gina agrees with Ines that Connie is getting too involved personally with the cases at the center. Gina is in disbelief about what Connie did and bought for this woman’s baby. Gina will talk to Connie, if necessary will ask her not to cooperate with the center anymore.

This girl is mad at the baby who is crying desperately. This woman is not only not the mother but gets a call from the doctor at the jail nuthouse… these are accomplices of Fina’s for sure. She talks about the money he offered her. (sorry but this scene gives me the creeps and I want to reach out throught the screen and strangle this girl).

At LaB, Anibal seems to have gone through three plates full of whatever Manuela cooked. He says since his grandma died he had not eaten so delicious. Manuela asks if he has space for dessert. Nata says she will also have dessert.
Augien waltzes or rather charges in on high defcon tantrum yelling asking for Nata. Jero comes out to confront him saying didn’t you get it that I don’t want you at my hacienda?
Augie asks to speak to Anibal
Ani: I don’t want to talk to you!
Augie: It is supposed to be why you came.
Ani: Yes, but I am not intersted in doing it anymore. It was a mistake to come meet you. If you didn’t want me to be born, then now you must not care about me at all. … my grandma told me that this man gave money to my mom to get rid of me when I was in her womb. Both Jero and Nata impactados with that new piece of info.
Augie insists it is all a lie. Claims that Anibal’s grandma could not stand him. She could not stand the idea of having him take her daughter away, charged Anibal’s grandma as a controlling person. Augie wants to call Hortensia to clear things up but Anibal won’t let him.
Jero steps in… tries to calm everyone…
Anibal: I am the one that wanted to meet you! They don’t want to hear from you. And if you are not interested in me, then why did you come (to LaB) looking for me??
Jero tells Augie that is a very good question. Augie claims Nata made him think it over. The least he can do is to listen to Anibal and then explain things to him the way he lived them. Nata agrees that there are always two sides to each story.
Jero suggests everyone take a seat.
But Augie is still rough and impersonal with Anibal calling him ‘muchacho’… Jero says ok, if you are not interested in getting to know your dad, and You are not intersted in clearing things up with the person who claims to be your son, then why don’t you take your exit from my hacienda? Nata insists with Anibal to give it a try to talk to Augie. Maybe they can meet tomorrow after they all get some rest and calm down.
Augie claims he has his conscience clean and begins to leave. But Jero asks him if he really believes his conscience is clean when he just treated so roughly someone who could be his son.

Antonio and Padre Severino talk about whether they should cancel the request to get a new priest. They agree that between Antonio and Padre S they can handle the church. Antonio asks how long Marina will stay at the church. Padre S is sure once the babies are born she will want to move away and start over somewhere. Antonio gets approval over phone to stay with Padre S.

As Augie heads out of LaB, Mati, for a change.. NOT, has her mouth open and is telling Carlos that Ezeq talked to them about what happened to Alvaro and Areli.. SO Augie finds out that Areli is alive and that Ezeq betrayed him. Now he is sure of what he suspected.

Anibal is appologizing to Jero for the trouble. Jero blames Augie… Nata protests slightly. But she behaves very nice to Anibal. Anibal thanks both Nata and Jero for everything.

Marina is happy with the settlement with Antonio and Padre Severino. In her current spirits, their company will be very good for her.

Nata is settling Anibal in his room. He thanks her again… she says welcome again…

At the jail, Fina, Blanca, the doc and the woman are meeting… the story/plan is working perfectly with Connie. The girl tells them Connie bought it hook like and sinker… Fina and Blanca are surprised to learn that the Doc gave the girl the baby girl… Fina asks Doc if he stole it… Fina and Blanca are smiling…

Gina is visiting with Hono and Connie to explain to her that she got too involved. Gina asks Connie not to come work at the center and not to get involved with the women, it is center policy.
Connie seems startled, but is not willing to not go to the center at all. When Gina leaves, Hono tells Connie he agrees with Gina. Connie suggests they adopt a baby, but Hono says he is too old for going through those rides…

Ezeq and Alfo are taking care of the baby. He is very startled, anxious. She worries about him.

Augie is arranging something bad for Ezeq with this tall guy who looks very rude, nothing good will come from that.

Previews show that something bad happens probably to Ezeq at the hands of this guy.
Berta is teaming up with German the new associate.

Comments:
Slowed down the avances to better see what was going on and saw something very disturbing. I hope I'm wrong and don't want to say what it was. It's not really a spoiler, but not everyone has the luxury of slowing the previews.

Off to bed. Looking forward to reading the recap tomorrow.

Robey

Marta, I'm so glad you had tonight's episode since you are the very best amongst us at translating and making sense of all that darn conversation. You had your hands full tonight.

Favorite quote: "Augie is in high defcon tantrum mode", oh man was he ever. Defcon 1 for sure. His candle kick was pretty impressive though; great foot-eye coordination. When he was stabbing his desk I was hoping he would accidentally impale his hand.

Poor little baby Amparo! I wanted to strangle that horrible girl too, and push her face down into her glass of milk.

Speaking of strangling, I also wanted to wring Matilde's little neck. What a blabbermouth!

How dare Augustin barge into La Bonita? That guy is not thinking at all. Doesn't he know his rudeness is the fastest way to irritate Nata. Yet she didn't seem that bothered by it. Open your eyes girl!!

Oh dear, it looks like there might be some bad stuff coming down tomorrow night. Darn!

Marta, thank you for getting your post up so quickly tonight. You were on warp speed. Your title is perfect and I hope Ezeq listens to you! Thank you.

By the way, I noticed on tonight's introduction they included a shot of Anibal gazing affectionately at a lovely dark-haired lass.

Thanks Marta. Love all your asides, as if you're right there in the scene, trying to talk sense into the characters! Alas, no one was listening to your wise advice last night.

I had to leave the room during the hateful crying neglected baby. Yes, no wonder the little one is wailing, taken away from her real mother and now in the hands of that wretched girl.

Robey...I can slow the previews, but I think I saw what you did...and I am VERY DISTURBED. Don't like the way this plot line is going at all.

It will be fun though to watch Augustin try and fake being a nice dad. That will really be a stretch.

Thanks for the super fast well-detailed recap Marta.

The title was perfect, Marta. What is it going to take you wonder for Nata to fully comprehend Aug's penchant for dangerous anger and what that could lead to. You just know Aug is going to use that kid for evil purposes and the fact his new job is to take care of Gitano - yeah, maybe I'll just have the remote ready to switch channels tonight...

Speaking of switching channels, could not stomach the scenes with that stupid braud who is faking the baby mama role. And the baby crying in the background. HATE this plot line. Wish the ghastly duo had thought of something else for their dastardly deed.

Mati - lesson to learn girl. When your "hubby" or partner is trying to tell you something, SHUT UP and listen. I agree with wanting to reach through that TV screen - there are just times when she needs a switch-off button.

Can I now add Alfi to my list of aggravating people who need to find something to do? Why is she suddenly Dr. Depressing's BFF? The two of them together is always a play with kitty moment.Boring! Did think bringing the yarn was funny - like this woman can't think of anything to do while sitting around? Beanie shaking.

So tonight looks to end some of the smiles we've been enjoying the last few days and Berta will probably be throwing the family under the bus to win over her new dude. Fun stuff.

Thank you Marta for another great detailed recap.

I was also disturbed by that baby crying scene, because the baby was really crying. It also reminded me of those early episodes after Pepa stole Regina Jr./Renata and would ignore her cries, yell at her, and hold Berta on the bed feeding her formula, while she left Nata on the floor feeding herself WATER from her bottle. It's a wonder Nata made it past toddler stage. This Corina is a chip off the old Pepa/Fina block. Hopefully this baby will be back in her real mother's arms soon. But of course, not before causing Connie a ton of grief.

I don't think Augie will be able to use Ani as easily as he thinks. This kid has his own mind. He's the only person who speaks to Augie that way, other than Jero. And we know how Augie feels about Jero.

I had hoped Augie would be so distracted by this son thing that he would put the "hurt Zeke" plans on the backburner, but hearing the confirmation of Zeke's betrayal from Mati has pushed him to multi-task. Things do NOT look good for Zeke in the previews.

Yes, noticed Ani, a cute girl (likely Alison), and Marina added to the opening sequence.

When the scene with Anibal finishing his three plates of food opened, Nata and Manuela were holding hands across the table. It seemed like there was a conversation they didn't show us-- likely Manuela and Nata making peace over Manuela taking care of Marina. It was an unspoken moment that I thought said a lot.

Marta, thank you for the excellent recap - I struggle more than most with the dialog and you never fail to make the events crystal clear. Like Sylvia, my favorite line was "high defcon tantrum mode" - on point and witty.

Your "no, woman, no matter what you do you should burn that house down to the ground as if Fina were a vampire)" had me smiling and I've been mulling this over. While I agree with you, I have to give Gina credit for standing her ground. She is eliminating Fina's filth and stench, and is exhibiting tremendous strength and courage to proclaim it as her own.

I wish Ezeq and Alfo had been able to re-establish the loving relationship they once had. I'm really hoping for some divine intervention and that he is somehow spared.

I agree with everyone who's commented on the nightmarish scene with that poor baby. Judy, I also wanted to leave the room - it was so disturbing.

Vivi, thank you for pointing out that Manuela and Nata had quietly made peace. I don't think any detail ever escapes your notice.

Daisy, I hope Augie won't try and involve Anibal in any schemes although it's likely as he never seems to want to dirty his own hands. Why should he? He can always bully others to do his bidding. Blech.

Yes, this is moving from the light into the abyss rather quickly. Let's hope it doesn't last too long.

Diana

Marta, thank you! Oh my gosh what a gut-wrenching episode. That dispicable wench that's working with docLooney, that poor baby crying, unloved and probably stolen like our Regina Jr./Renata. You know what? I don't think docLooney is a doc or any other kind of credentialed professional and this scam with Blanca and Fina is probably not his first. The four of them together made you want to go shower pronto!

Two other gut-wrenches: That enabling heffa, Alfonsina. Man! She hasn't learned anything from her adulterous tryst with docNasty? She's supporting Maritata's home-wrecking delusions! Uuuuuf!

The next one is seeing Zeke finally realize that Auggie's put an expiration date on his head. Darn that Matilde! I know she didn't know Auggie was there but...double uuuuuf! Zeke is surely going to die: somehow in the novela valuation scheme he is tainted, not sainted as his wife thought (criminal past) and Alfo kind of "deserves" to lose her husband, unrepentant jezebel that she is. I'm not sayin' I agree with this, but I think these things really have dug Zeke's grave.

On a sort of lighter note, Auggie and Anibal are kinda funny together: Anibal matches Auggie jaw jut for jaw jut and can explode in rage just as quickly. . .that's his pup all right!

Thanks, Marta, this is a pivotal capitulo!

Lila

Thanks Marta, a wonderful recap, plus excellent advice for many of our exasperating characters. If only they'd listen to you.

Looks like the market for locks and dogs in Mexico is still wide open. Wasn't it Julia who during LldA was contemplating setting up a lock franchise in Mexico?

Good luck tonight Sylvia. I'd recommend a couple of shots of mezcal before even turning on your TV if those previews are any indication of what we have in store for tonight.

For Lila, to do bold simply type <b>your word or words</b> and you get your word or words when you publish.

I had to laugh at Jerry last night. He doesn't want Aníbal staying at La Bonita, he's annoyed that Augie just seems able to waltz in unannounced whenever... suddenly he's the mediator between the two. Where's his resolve?

I'm really disappointed in Corina. Fina and Blanca showed more concern for the imagined Amparito.

Carlos

Thanks Carlos!

;D

Lila

Hi Marta - you have made it very hard for me to go to work today. I only got through the first bit of the recap and show and don't want to turn it off! I will literally be counting the hours til I can get home tonight and finish reading/watching.

I did get to the part where Augie kicked the candles in SLOW MOTION. "Poor candles" indeed.

And what is wrong with Alphi? I could forgive her busting out shirts, her flat belly up until the week before she delivered, her roll in the dirt with Dr.Dread, but her trying to egg on Marina is unforgivable. That isn't how you help someone, girl!

Thanks for your work. Only 10 more hours til I can snuggle up and savor it again.

Rosemary la Otra

Marta, Thanks for the marvelous recap and I echo Sylvia that you shed light on the rapid fire conversations. What does Defcon mean? I feel I have missed out on some movie or TV show since Sylvia definitely knows what it is. I get the tantrum part. It made me wonder if Augie ever played soccer(futbal). That was indeed a masterful kick that made those candlesticks fly like pins at a bowling alley. I wish Renata had seen it. She is still slow to see the danger in this guy although she got eyes and ears saturated with his anger and paranoia and most of all stinginess toward this probable offspring.

I don;t like the mean girl neglects crying baby scene one bit nor the Ezequiel plot line. Vivi, I also liked the Renata-Manuela moment of bonding over being good care takers. They both have noble motives and they now see it in each other. It was really touching.

Vivi,

I agree the Ani seems to be a strong-willed young man, and won't fall into Aug's schemes. Aug definitely can hide behind the "I didn't do anything" he keeps claiming with Nata because he gets others to do the nasty deeds, but he sure can manipulate events to his liking and this poor kid is perfect front again for him.My worry for this kid, Aug may turn the corner into doing something himself and making it look like Ani did it. And if it involves Gitano along with framing his own child, may Aug's end of TN be especially painful and severe.

My first thought this morning was that Augustin was already so ticked off about Renata and Anibal that when he overheard Miss Can'tShutIt he is going to go right out and direct his anger at Ezequiel. He basically did the same thing when he ordered the hit on Arely. My stomach is already churning over tonight's episode. (Isn't it pathetic that this was my first thought when I woke up?)

Carlos, I have a nice big bottle of aged, smoky Mezcal so I think I'm good to go.

I was incredibly irritated with Alfonsina last night. She is not helping Doc Tata one bit and only seemed to make her sadder. Estupida! (To quote Roberta.)

Lila, the father/son jaw jut contest was hilarious.

Cheryl, DEFCON stands for Defense Readiness Condition, with DEFCON 1 being the highest state of maximum readiness, i.e. nuclear war is imminent.

Diana, I loved the burn the house down to cleanse the vapire out of it too. This isn't a simple sage burning issue. This house has serious evil saturated in the walls. And adding to the evil is that Roberta is still living there. No simple paint job can take care of this. bulldozer time!

And Carlos, I love your advice to Sylvia to sip mezcal before her episode airs. Marti must have needed it afterwards at least. She is lucky she didn't see the previews like many of us did. Sylvia, I want to drink a little thimbleful of mezcal just thinking about what you are facing tonight. Maybe a cup is better than a thimble for what I am fearing.

One more vote for "high defcon tantrum mode" -- funny! And Daisy, I know what you mean about the "playing with kitty" moments...although tonight, I may be too tightly grasping my remote. That pet thug of Auggie's doesn't look as if he can be reasoned with, and all the LaB gals in the previews looked BEYOND impactadas. Tough times.

I wonder if the writers are reading minds. I know they wrote this without us but just when we worry most about Gitana's well being, Renata recruits Anibal/Hanibal to groom and care for her since she hasn't had enough attention lately, INDEED NOT!

And then as we were all speculating about Antonio's wrecked wife and daughter crawling out of the jungles, he tells Renata that the beauty of the Valle de Guadelupe make him think of them for the first time in a long while. I sure hope he has learned his lesson and will not be related to Blanca or have anything more to do with Fina but will dispel the stupidity of Alfonsina and let Marina know that unrequited love is just that, unrequited. Get on with plan B, Jero is not going to cave to your adolescent fantasies. But notice how he is offended by Augie's BadParenting mode with not accepting Hanibal and hearing that he tried to give money to abort Ani's life rather than man up to his reslponsibilities. With Augie it all comes down to money one way or another. Surely, Renata who is least impressed with material things will open her eyes better. But it may take a while because Augie really keeps his hands clean by hiring the dirty work projects to be carried out by others.

Marta thanks for the great recap.

Lila, what a talented hija you have. Hope her career is fulfilling and rewarding.

Diana, I can't imagine that anyone struggles with the dialogue more than I do. I understand maybe 10% and go on body language and facial expressions for the rest until the recap comes up. I come up with likely ideas, but I'm frequently like someone doing a crossword puzzle and getting all the wrong answers.

Judy, I hate scenes with mistreated babies too. Sends cold chills up my back.

Well, the knock 'em up and leave 'em scenario with Augie didn't get the kind of immediate traction that I had hoped for from Renata.

Silvia, we found out where Gitana is; how did that happen?

Renata is so attractive and fills out her costumes so well. Wish she'd ditch the SpongeBob SpuarePants outfits.

David in IN

Great recap, Marta. Let me echo those who have commented on how helpful your recaps are with your expert interpretation of dialog and your wonderful asides directed at the characters. Yes, if only they listened to you their lives would be so much easier -- but, alas, the TN would be over in no time.

I have no mezcal on hand so I need to find something to give me the heart to watch tonight's episode. Zeke doesn't deserve to die. He has always been a tainted character -- but only slightly. At first he seemed to be Auggie's henchman but we soon saw his reluctance to do the stuff he was asked to do and now we know what Auggie has been holding over his head all these years. He's just a flawed human like the rest of us. Oh please, Gods of the Telenovel, don't let him die.

Oh yes, and ditto on the general condemnation of Alfie. What the heck does she think she's doing encouraging Miss Dr. Whinypants?!?

Güera

Oh, and by the way, I love all the funny nicknames people are coming up with for the manicomio doc. We lost Nesme, but we didn't lose step!

David...Sponge Bob Square Pants outfits! Yikes. Good one.

As for tonight, no Mezcal on hand. York Mint Patties will have to do.

You know, everything is going to get darker but I feel like Anibal and Alison are meant to meet and learn some key life lessons that will help each of them deal with their demons and go on the next stage of their lives. Unfortunately these lessons will be supplied through the murder and machinations of Auggie, Fina, Blanca and yes, Berta which will impact everyone in thisclose-knit socially diverse group of people.

Cap'n Sylvia, no, it's not weird to wake up thinking about this! You're not alone (or, I'm weird, too!) A good story well told can really grab ya. . .that's why we're all here. If/when they kill Zeke we're going to need to have a virtual grief support group here!

Lila

Oh David, thank you for sharing! "I'm frequently like someone doing a crossword puzzle and getting all the wrong answers." Yes, that's it! Me too!

My comprehension may be slightly higher (15%? :)) but like you, have gleaned much from behavior, stance, facial expressions and tone.

I am so grateful for the marvelous recappers and commenters. Their words and insight have enabled and encouraged me to voice my opinions for quite a few years now.

I do think someone in the wardrobe department has taken an inexplicable dislike to Silvia Navarro. What else could explain her crimes against fashion?

Diana

Thanks, David! She is a blessing!

Lila

Marta:

Thank you for a wonderfully detailed recap. I missed several important things said during the rapid-fire dialog, and you cleared up each of my questions with your sparkling recap.

JudyB, Sylvia, Vivi and all who hated the crying baby scene, arghh! Do the producers have to let the real baby cry?

Daisynjay: This advice you gave to Mati was PERFECT. "Mati - lesson to learn girl. When your "hubby" or partner is trying to tell you something, SHUT UP and listen". I feel like Carlos, in his ineffectual way was trying to warn Mati about Ms. Wine Expert, but he didn't have the energy to push the point and she just wouldn't shut up.
That character bewilders me. We have seen other similar characters in TN plots; is the inappropriate never-shut-up Chatty Matti just a plot device? I have never known anyone remotely like her in real life

and while she is darling (without the headband) I, too, long for a Mati-mute button. Her uncensored remarks may really HARM Zeke. Ay yi yi.

EJ

Oh David, you do come up with memorable descriptions such as the new classic Renata in SpongeBob Square Pants costumes and crimes against fashion, thanks Diana too. Yes, she has angered the goddess of wardrobe somehow. Probably by being too perfectly beautiful, but then the bad wardrobe doesn't really take away from that beauty.

I am glad that Maritatas has taken on more modest bed clothes being in the priests home.

Lila:

I found your analysis of 'Zeke as a tainted (and therefore doomed) character to be very incisive. But if Zeke is tainted by his past and therefore telenovela-expendable then isn't Alfie in the same boat? Surely she is "tainted" by her very bad decision to have sex with Nesme, who turns out to be a homicidal maniac. As some have said, she doesn't seem appropriately repentant either. And now she is stirring up the pot with Marina. Perhaps Alfie has her own anvil comeuppance teetering precariously above her pretty head.

EJ

Diana and David:

LOL about the Renata wardrobe comments. Sponge Bob and "crimes against fashion'. Plus there were continuity issues with those leather gloves, first they are on, then they are off, and so forth.

I think Silvia Navarro is one of the most beautiful women in TV or film working today but the wardrobe choices seem almost perverse.

To enumerate:

1.Low heeled boots in the wine country, sure. Wool shorts and tights and vest and a pirate shirt, not so much.

2.The actress was herself about 30 when the TN was made playing a character of 25 años. Are these outfits supposed to make her look younger? Roberta and Adri (same age) would never make Mr. Blackwell's best-dressed list either but they don't look like a girl refugees from a pirate movie.

We already the wardrobe folks have taken a dislike to Matilde with the headband and all.

Go figure.

EJ

You said it, EJ! Her comeuppance may be losing the gem of a husband that Zeke is. Whatever mistake he made, he DID repent and is living the life of a good husband and father and loyal friend. Falling into Auggie's hands is probably a bigger flaw than whatever it is he was supposed to have done! He made a mistake but he is to be applauded for being discerning and principled, not going along with every dastardly deed Auggie came up with. Alfie, however, is way less principled (and bright) having gotten nasty with Nesme cause she thought he could give her the life of a Princess like she imagined Kari had. She claims to have learned what a real Prince Ezek was but she still has no respect for the sanctity of a loving, mutually respectful relationship between a husband and wife as she's counseling TaTa to try to violate that. It ain't fair but her punishment may be to be tragically widowed. Then we may get sobbing lamentations from her on how she didn't really appreciate Zeke for the good man he was! Hope I'm wrong!

When they burn down the house that Fina tainted, they should also salt the earth. Plant some garlic. Put row upon row of crosses.

Great recap Marta. I'm like Diana and my fellow Hoosier, David. I do not understand most of what is said and go by facial expressions, voice expressions and the music. The music has cued me in several times what kind of scene I'm watching. Marta: always your dialogues have helped me understand crucial scenes. Sometimes I'm completely off base of what I thought was going on and what actually went on. Thanks so much.

Vivi: I missed the Nata/Manuela moment, but am glad they made peace.

I know Auggie doesn't want to get his hands dirty and can honestly say he didn't do the things he's accused of, but if someone he trusted like Zeke betrayed him, I'm wondering why he's still trusting others to do his dirty work.

Lila: Agree with you re: Alfie. She needs to shut up. You'd think she hated Nata the way she's trying to break up that marriage.

JudyB: for me it will be Hershey's Kisses, tea, and a hanky.

Sylvia: I dreamt about CME all last night. It wasn't about the plot--I had a different one running in my head. The only thing I remember is Antonio featured in it almost exclusively.

EJ: Re: Alfie and her own anvils. Good point. But surely they wouldn't leave little Luz and the little boy, whose name I can't remember, without a mother and possibly orphans, if Zeke gets it.

Robey

Lila: Being widowed would be a big punishment for Alfie. I always seem to think the worst case scenario when we talk anvils over someone---their death. :) (what does that say about me?!)

Robey

Sorry. Forgot to say to JudyB. I hope we're wrong. I'm thinking it might not be quite what I thought, but still very bad.

Robey

Marta, what an enjoyable read. Like the others, I loved the defcon tantrum bits and the advice to burn down the Fina-tainted abode.

I am just loving this addition of Anibal. He definitely has his father's fire, but he isn't evil. Perfect for a showdown at the OK Corral. It was funny how at first Jero refused to let him stay, then when he actually met Anibal and saw his interaction with Augie, he reacted in exactly the same way Renata had at Augie's place, refereeing the fight and defending Anibal.

I was surprised when Renata was trying to convince Jero, she didn't just say, "he hates Augustin too; you'll probably get along very well."

Why has Padre been in the hospital for so long? He doesn't seem very sick. He doesn't even have an oxygen mask. Or did they just tell him he has pneumonia but really he's dying of a tumor imminently?

Martaivette--I'll be back to you later. Meanwhile, thank you.

THIS IS FOR LILA--
Sorry I couldn't post comments yesterday. I left the house early, early and didn't get back until almost midnight.

Brava! Brava! You merit all the accolades you received on Wednesday. Wow--you saved up or created many new phrases that just zeroed in on our characters. And for your hijita to chime in--proud of her mommy--OUT OF THE BALLPARK BUENO (or off the soccer field, football field, ice arena, insert preference).

I can't think of anyone better suited to prose w/a bit of bite than you. Congrats de nuevo.
NOK

My word verification this posting is -- furitoat--the sort of things Auggie, Renata and Gonzo have been wearing in hot, sunny Mexico lately.

Now, back to reading Marta's recap and all the comments.

Oh, and for whoever it was that asked--The Anvil in the 2007 Met Barber of Seville did indeed come down, smashed the pumpkins and the wagon they were in. A lovely mess, but the curtain came down immediately, so we didn't get to enjoy it for long.

Wow, Robey, you dreamed about Antonio? Something how these stories can get in our heads. Remember (those who watched) when Bonita was killed in, gosh, what was the novela with Lucero where she was such a beeyatch? Can't believe I can't remember. Anyway, Bonita (I think that's her name), beloved life-long Nanny and Household Manager, really, was murdered by Ivanna, the evil psycho-slut. Man! Even though I can't remember the name of the novela, that was traumatic when they killed her and she was NOT tainted in any way I can remember. I guess the writers have different telenovela gods and rules! Gonna be a doozie tonight!

Mah name is so nice, Ah say it twice!

Ahem. Thanks NOK, thank you soo much! ;D

Lila

There's often a good person who didn't deserve it who gets offed near the end. It was Soy Tu Dueña, Lila. That was gruesome.

Lila, it was Soy tu Duena

I still grumble that they killed off Benita in Soy tu Duena. BUT maybe there is a chance for Zeke. Afterall there have not been any murder sucesses since Fina's lucky strikes.
Thank you Marta. Your conversation translations are so appreciated.

Oh Benita. That really made me mad. She was pure motherly goodness & I couldn't believe it when the writer's sent her off that balcony.

Diana & David, hang in there. When I started watching Juan Querendon I only understood a bitt of what I heard. Then I discovered Caray Caray. This dear group of recappers and commenters helped me follow the action. Then I discovered close captions. It really helps me catch what I didn't hear. Little by little I'm coming along -- and you will too.

Güera

@Robey...you're right...Zeke might not get offed...but I say lay in a good supply of Hershey's kisses just in case. I lived in Indianapolis from '49 to '63 so that makes me somewhat of a Hoosier too.

1. Lila, I spent yesterday (and the day before) ((and the day before that)) communing w/ John Deere and the leaves in the yard, leaving me only w/ enough steam to read but not tell you what an absolutely fantastic recap you wrote for your inaugural effort. I'm very much looking forward to more of your work!

2. Marta, thank you! You're becoming the dialectician (is that a word?) among the recappers and I'm just amazed that you can follow these folks. The new bubba, whom we've been calling "Hernan" but the cc's refer to as "German", seems to have a staccato way of speaking.

"DEFCON"? Jeez, I've not heard that for years. Thought I'd retired from the Air Force... DEFCONs, FPCONs, Bent Spears, etc, Security Conditions Black, Yellow, Red, etc. (Sound familiar, David? I think the Army used some of those terms.)

Good to see the young guy playing Anibal again - he really was good in Tontas.

And agree w/ the point about Renata's wardrobe. I wonder is SN made a bet w/ someone that she could do a great job of acting even dressed like a doofus. I mean, jacket and gloves w/ shorts??? Oh, and we haven't had product placement from Garnier for a while, either.

How many times has Agustin barged his way into the living room at La Bonita now? Maybe that's well within customs of hacienda life. Seems rude, though.

Corina - what a skank of a character. The baby sounded like our daughter at that age. Difference is that our daughter had colic for her first six months. And, I assure you, was not ignored! I had plenty of spit up stained shirts to prove it. Though they're all long gone now.

Dreading tonight's episode.

Oh man, I remember I was so ticked off when Benita took the header out the window. Did Ivanna ever get found out for that?

Robey, glad to hear I'm not the only one to obsess about this crazy show. How funny that you dreamed of Antonio. Sounds like you haven't resolved whether to like him or not.

David, Sponge Bob Square Pants...perfect!! Just the description I was looking for.

You know what ticks me off (as I'm sitting here trying to finsih writing a student profile) about Marina's attitude with Jero on the phone? When Marina was ill, Nata was all about being supportive to make sure Marina was taken care of. Sure, not happy about it, but concerned. Here Jero calls up because something may have happened to his wife on the road (it happened before), and she can't even muster up a tiny polite word of concern. She could have said, "They haven't arrived yet, but when Antonio does, I'll have him call you." End of conversation. But she was so rude about it.

Don't know why my last brilliant comment was not posted. I thought I saw it then it disappeared.

One thing has me puzzled. I thought we knew that Laz and Ezeke had been buddies since they were chamacos and even pledged their undying loyalty to one another. If so, Laz would have known about Ezeke's run in with the law way back when--or maybe the writers forgot.

I guess I need to get in line for an I Miss Ezeke t-shirt (still in xtra large, drat)

Chatty Matti--LOL and spitting coffee.

David--SpongeBobSquarePants. Couldn't be a better description, I agree. A friend of mine who keeps up with fashion (amateurishly) told me that Nata's outfit is very popular with young people. Then she reminded me that we come from the Mini-Skirt era (well, I NEVER.....). Nevertheless, in my book it is not appropriate attire for the office, regardless of one's age or color of the tights.

Vivi--I thought there was something wrong with Marina's attitude on the phone. Who is she trying to fool, anyway...oh, it's herself.
NOK

Thanks Ebony and Judy and all who remember Benita. That was a shocker. Maybe we will be shocked the opposite way and Zeke won't kick it.

Thanks Mike (communing with John Deere. . .luuuv it!!)

Yah Vivi, it's excellent how likeable Marina started off and how they're ramping her up to full blown bitch status, man! What is she going to be like just before birth!

Lila

Judyb: You are an honorary Hoosier.

Lila and Sylvia: It was Antonio and it wasn't. You know how dreams are. Looked like Tony acted like Auggie--only an Auggie who is intense but not murderous. Weird.

Vivi: So with you on Marina's attitude. Really. For such an intelligent, bright woman she's acting like the worst, pouty, obnoxious child. Better grow up quick, missy. Or do you plan on being a baby raising babies? Jero and Nata are going to be in your life from now on. Get over it.

In STuD, I was so upset when Benita died. I couldn't believe it. Also, I actually stopped watching the eps from when Lumi got raped until she went back to work. Those were two of the most disturbing things for me about that TN (and I didn't like that they killed my fav Alejandro Ruiz so early--loved him as Jacinto in MEPS and going to be bummed if they off him here). But Ivana. What a trip of a villain.

Robey

The guy who plays German looks vaguely familiar - maybe as a police commandante or some such on another TN. Anyone? Anyone?

He was Damian in Guapos, and the slimy dad of the hero (can't remember the character's name) in Amar Sin Limites. I know he's played a lot of other roles as well but those come immediately to mind.

Yes, the Defcon reference i get from an earlier Mathew Broderick movie, Wargames. Although my husband was in military for many years, i never was, but the term stayed with me since i saw the movie.

Marta, that movie is exactly where I learned the term! Funny.
