I have a long rehearsal tonight and so, no recap.

Melinama, thanks for taking the time to post the header in spite of your long rehearsal.

Well I'd say Pancho's "Welcome to Mexico" party was a huge success. I missed the last few minutes due to DVR cutoff. Did they sign?? Probably not, they need to drag out the suspense until Friday.

Candy was impressive. Funny how Rebe was so concerned (and rightfully so) that the Arabs would be insulted by an amateur's attempt at their art form. Not to worry lady, Candy's gyrations once again mesmerized the house. Maybe her ultra-shiny bangles hypnotized the men.

Did I get that right? Did the main Sheik offer to marry Chela or was he merely inquiring about her status? He said he has five wives, right? I think I see where this is headed.

Thank you so much for the header. My Spanish is not that good yet, but the Arab did say that he wanted to make Chela his sixth wife. The advances said he would sign the contract if Chela became his sixth wife, I think.

Madelaine

Thanks Madelaine. I suspected something like that might have happened. I can't wait to see how Rebe handles that one.

They could say Chela belongs to Pancho & therefore not available.

I'm surprised he didn't want Candy for a wife.

My Spanish is the not best, but I also heard that part of the deal would be Chela. I think the Arab liked her cooking.

Rosemary

I think in the avances he asked for TWO women. I assume the second would have been Candy, but maybe it was Rebeca.

I think it would be problematic enough to add possessive Chela to a group of five wives, but if he throws in Rebeca too there's no telling what would happen.

(Not that I think it would go that far... but it would have all the makings of a horrible sitcom.)

Regarding the food, I believe they offered carnitas (among other things). Carnitas is a very yummy pork dish. However, I guess no harm done since they offered other things too.

I do recall her listing off what she cooked for the translator: a little mole, barbacoa, pipian, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. I also thought it was funny when the translator asked if Chela had a man and Chela asked "Am I hungry or do I have a man?" (Tengo hambre or tengo hombre?) As a non-Spanish speaker and having made that very mistake I couldn't help but laugh.

Julie, TWO women? The second must be Candy. I don't think the Sheik even noticed Rebe.

By the way, due to the futbol game Friday night this show will air at a different time. In my area (west coast) it is scheduled to air 1.25 hours after the regular time. On the East coast it might air earlier. Check your schedues.

Julie, just missed your second comment. Carnitas is definitely porky. All the other things that I mentioned could be non-pork. Did you notice that the tortillas were dark? Maybe they were blue corn tortillas? I was surprised by that.

Yes, looked like blue corn tortillas or some other exotic grain was added... they definitely weren't plain white corn or white flour tortillas.

Thanks for the heads-up about futbol on Friday. It appears that on the east coast, the show will be on at its usual time and then the live game begins at 9ET, so other time zones will have to check.

ALSO... there is no episode tonight due to Latin Grammy Awards, I just found out a few minutes ago. So we'll have to wait till Friday to find out how many wives El Jeque wants and if he's aware that it's not legal to buy or sell people in business deals.

Come to think of it, does ENZO realize that it's not nice to marry off one's female relatives (against their will) for business purposes?

Apparently not since he is doing it with his own daughter. He's not doing her any favors that's for sure. I was very annoyed that the lovely Ana was writing a love song about the odious Freddy. Actually, the relationship between Freddy and Monica is kind of interesting. Since it is more or less an arranged marriage it probably feels like a business agreement to him rather than a serious love relationship. Maybe that's why he thinks it's fine to kiss Monica one moment and then go sniffing after Elena the next. I wonder, will he be the same cad if/when he actually falls for someone? Is he capable of falling in love or is he so entitled that he thinks he can have whomever he wants whenever he wants? So far I don't like him but I'm curious how his character will develop.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't sure. Is it just me or does Pina dance like Elaine in Seinfeld?
She has no grace when it comes to dancing. Vince was much better on the pole than she was lol.

Funny episode and the fallout tomorrow will be amusing. Vicente made a bigger fool of himself than he said Pancho would when Candy was dancing.

Belly dancing isn't that difficult as long as you have a decent sense of rhythm and you aren't too thin. I did it years ago when I was in the SCA and there are no mandatories. You don't need to do floor work or elaborate back bends if you can't, or even play zills. The hardest thing I was able to do was to shimmy and walk at the same time.

Hi everybody. Fun episode last night.

I think in the previews the sheik said he'd sign if Pancho would fork over both Chela and Candy. The "anorexic" Rebeca wasn't even in the running.

This was a fun episode. I also heard the sheik request Chela and Candy. Can't wait to see Pancho's reply.

Rebeca was really laying into Pancho about the evening being a failure, although it was a hit. Just because they refused to sign the contract right then and there had nothing to do with the evening they had. If she had any people skills, she would have seen how much they were clearly enjoying themselves. But instead she made Pancho feel bad by saying had SHE been left in charge, she would have taken them to some fancy restaurant with champaign and caviar, and then they would have surely signed. Oh please!

Urban, shimmy and walk at the same time? I'm impressed!

I think they had champagne at the meeting that Vince was "leading". I don't think the Arabs were impressed.

In the real world, who ever signs anything based on a day of sightseeing and a good meal? Even if there's caviar? (Yeah, yeah, I'm sure there are plenty of gullible people who would!)

Remind me again where Rebeca got her PhD, because I am wondering what the heck they taught her about business if she thinks it's a good idea for anyone to sign a contract on the spot.

Maybe Fernanda should have Enzo threaten the sheik with eviction/foreclosure. I hear that's a good way to get people to sign things!

Another thing that bothered me...a good Muslim would not drink alcohol anyway. So offering champagne would be a no-no. And as I understand it, Muhammed allowed four wives, so that sheik was already over the limit. But oh well, why worry about cultural accuracy!

Although I think the Arabs would have enjoyed the local fare, I am sure they are pleased that the gente want to make them feel at home & especially like the attributes of Candy.
