Cuando Me Enamoro #165 Monday 12/12/11 It’s Just Not Nice to Fool the Virgin of Guadalupe, Especially on Her Special Day of Las Mañanitas

Catch up: White gowns cheer the jailing of Constanza at the asylum and suffering for being such a sentimental idiot (cursi tonta). Constanza is dragged into the police station in cuffs as she swears her innocence. Pre-wedding jitters get to Renata, Jero, Augie, Roberta. Renata is pregnant. Jero is lured off to a meeting with Marina. The clues are everywhere for Anibal, Lazaro and Matias. Roberta smirks a lot, Augie smirks with his eyes. The wedding is another disaster and Renata begs the bedroom ceiling to reveal where Jero has gone. I’m going in!!

The judge is ready for the ceremony so the hunt for the missing bridegroom begins. Honorio comments dryly that Constanza deserves to await his call as he again ignores his cell. For Roberta and Augie, the night will be so diverting. The facts, less what Anibal knows, are thrown together. The guys saw Jero and Marina together while they waited for Adri to go to the pharmacy in the square. We see Saul smirking that his part of Augie's plan is going as planned, whatever that is. But who is Marina they all ask. The mother of Jero’s children Renata says to a que? que? From Matias and Gonzo. And these are the two that have fallen in and out of love with Jero several times already.

Gee whiz, I thought we all knew already. All the guys but Honorio leave the patio with Augie slipping in among the crowd to slip away with his smug grin still keeping his jaws from jutting.

At the jail German learns from a lawyer that they probably cannot take Constanza out of the jail so easily because kidnapping has severe penalties and could carry a prison sentence of 50 years. Renata says Jero commited errors when they were separated but they are now agreed to work everything out in together. So where, oh where can our Jero be.

Finally Honorio gets a call on his cell phone from the EM receptionist telling him finally they have reached him so he can know that Constanza has been arrested by the police for stealing an infant. He goes to Adriana. He plans to get to Tijuana to the airport without telling the others what the real problem is, since they are already so worried. She should wait until the last moment to tell them about Constanza. We know that will make it all go so much better and give Adriana another chance to act totally against character. She tells her Pa to at least keep her advised of all developments.

Consta swears to the authorities that she did not steal the baby. The officer tells her, but the baby was stolen 2 weeks ago. This baby is not named Amparo but Sandra and the mother is not Corina but Senora Garcia. Since the woman, Corina, cannot be found the whole responsibility and blame lies with Constanza. The real mother comes in with the father. Upon finding out that Consta is the robber found red handed holding baby Sandra., she tries to attack Consta screaming she has no idea what she has suffered, she will prosecute and Consta will receive no pardon from God for her theft. Consta continues to swear her innocence and the police official tries to restore calm while the father tries to keep the young mother from tearing Consta’s face off.

Renata has to explain to her puzzled father who asks if he wasn’t kidnapped what does she think happened to Jero and he has the idea Renata knows more about what was between Jero and this woman... No, no let me rephrase that, this woman is expecting twins. Regina knows that this Marina is threatening to move away and Jero was very upset at the idea that he would not be close to his children while they are developing or when they are born. Regina spills the news that she’s pregnant too. For a moment, Gonzo kisses his favorite daughter who is expecting his first grandchild and the world is happy. Adri and Regina chime in on the good news.

The kitchen jury discusses that something very serious must have happended to keep pretty boy boss man away from his wedding.

Anibal and Alison walk in the garden puzzling the situation when Anibal remembers Augie on the phone swearing his plans better be carried out and this wedding cannot take place. He then catches Anibal outside the office door but Anibal feigns innocence saying he just arrived and only wanted to know if Augie wanted to eat.

Augie has a little time to drink and dish with Roberta in his livingroom and when she congratulates him on his masterful plan, he kisses her saying and you are my prize (premio).

The lawyer talks to Constanza about the gravity of this kidnapping charge if they cannot get proof of this Corina and her part in this, while she insists that Corina is real but is nowhere to be found. German tells Isidro and Inez that Honorio has finally been reached and is on his way to DF.

Antonio fills in Padre Sev that Laz and Carlos saw Jero approach Marina. Padre can’t believe that Jero would be involved in something dishonest like this.

Manuela comes with a teapot to offer some refreshment for all. They refuse but what about uncle Honorio and sister Roberta, she asks. Adri says who knows where Roberta went but Hon is making calls or attending to something. Gonzo goes to make some calls of his own in Jero’s office and to see what is going on with his sister. He can’t reach Consta’s cell phone. Finally Regina gets Inez on her phone and is told that Consta was detained in jail for stealing the baby. The family of the baby are going to press charges against Consta.

She is also learns that charges have been brought against her and the Center which they have seized and closed. She puts Gonzo on the phone and Inez passes her phone to Isidro who will explain what is known so far.

The guys come back to tell everyone that neither Jero nor his truck are to be found at the plaza where they last saw him and there was no sighting of Marina at her office or the hospital and she had left the church. Roberta and Augie come in as though they have been looking for Jero too. Roberta says she is Sooo sorry and Renata snaps at her that sorry doesn’t get it because she is sure nothing is wrong with Jeronimo.

After Gonzo tells Isidro to thank German for his help and thanks for staying near Consta until Honorio can get there, Inez and Isidro and German discuss the situation. Isidro assures German that Gonzo’s family is the center of his universe and the principal thing that matters to him. Isidro thanks him for Gonzo and German says what are friends for. Gonzo consoles Regina since all these things are a mess at the center but they support each other.

Roberta with a slight grin brings up that it is a possibility that Jero ran off with the mother of his children and they all know it is true. Maybe he was kidnapped, Adri adds after all he is a super rich man. Renata wants to file a missing person report right away but Augie, says oh, no, here you can’t file one until someone has been missing for at least 48 hours. Gonzo says but there are federal laws that permit a search to begin immediately. Slicker than snot on a doorknob, Augie insists that the laws are different in different states. So they all stop to thlnk for the moment.

At the young things questioning her in the kitchen, Manuela tells Anibal and Alison that the woman who looks like Renata is her sister Roberta. Anibal has another more recent memory flash of Augie kissing Roberta. Meanwhile heartbroken and confused, Renata cries in the bedroom. Augie says grandly, we all ought to continue looking for him ourselves. Carlos says he and Lazaro are already doing that and leaves. Augie leaves saying to Gonzo, you can count on me for anything then on kissing Regina’s hand, he is winking across the room at Roberta as he exits. Finally Roberta is having fun at a wedding. Oh my!

Regina brings tea into Renata’s room saying she needs tea and she needs to think of her baby. Renata says this was supposed to be the happiest day of my life. Regina soothes her, we should know soon, he will appear, and this will seem like a bad dream. But, I don’t know here he is, where is he, why isn’t he with me, she sobs. You thlnk he has gone with Marina don’t you? No, Regina tries to assure her, I know he loves you deeply. Renata says she knows in her heart that he loves her but he isn’t here and she doesn’t know what to make of it. Regina comforts her rocking her like a mother would comfort her heartbroken child.

Gonzo sums up that Hon has gone and he will return with Roberta to the city too but wants Matias to stay with Renata and Regina. Adriana agrees to stay too. Gonzo doesn’t want Renata upset because of the baby. What Babyl Roberta suddenly comes alive. She is told and sneers well if Jero knew of this baby maybe he wouldn’t have escaped. Gonzo says keep your silence! (shut your pie hole) and Roberta puts finger to pouty, venomous mouth in mock obedience.

Anibal returns to hear more venom from Augie that he was just putting on a show for Renata’s sake but he has no desire to find Jero. He assures Anibal that he has no idea what a base cad Jero really is. He is capable of betraying the lovely Renata with no heart. He is sure he has gone off with this Marina. He says he is tired and will go rest. Anibal suddenly has another revelation as he picks up one of the wine glasses on the coffee table that has lipstick on the glass rim.

Gonzo thanks Regina again for her tender motherly treatment of Renata. Regina assures him she feels like Renata is her own daughter. The Not-daughter Roberta stands once more outside the door and says well she is your daughter but you will never find it out and you won’t know you are a grandmother.

Hon shows up in record time at the jail and goes into see Consta who is so sorry that she never knew that the real mother of Amparo/Sandra was suffering. Hon and she discuss that Corina lied about everything and they have no information, paperwork or even a photo to prove who she really is or where she came from when she appeared with her baby. He will start his search for the truth and thinks maybe they can use the camera system at the house to capture a picture of her coming in with the baby. Consta is properly repentant that she didn’t listen to Hon’s warnings (or anyone else’s for that matter) but was blinded by her love of this child. He doesn’t chastise her further but just wants to get her out of jail. They kiss through the bars.

The white gowned witches kiss their wine glasses, salute their night passes with wine and snacks in the directors office. (I‘ve had worse jobs that this!) Fina doesn’t know what they are going to do when they get out to live well if there isn’t more money because all of it went to dirty director. But Blanca smugly reveals that of all the money she filched from Fina’s husband, the sums in banks were found and returned but not the part that she had in cash: in dollars and pesos and euros in a safety deposit box and it will be returned by the sainted Virgin of Remedios. We flash to Blanca entering a chapel for the Virgin of Remedios and taking a key out of her pocket putting it into a little pouch on a string and draping it on the Virgin statue like all the other rosaries and amulets. Blanca is so proud and Fina feeds her ego, how brilliant and resourceful she is and what an indestructible team they are. The future is rosy. While she clinks wine glasses again, she thinks how she will trick Blanca out of the hidden treasure once they are free.

Back at La Bonita, Renata awakens sad to see Regina in a chair guarding her for the night. Did Jeronimo return? Regina pops up saying, I don’t think so because I explained to them to come advise me as soon as there was news no matter what the hour.

Roberta calls Augie from the airport putting him apoplectic by announcing that Renata is pregnant. In the kitchen, Manuela, Kari, Laz and Matilde and Carlos are discussing Jero’s disappearance and how boyfriends ought to act ensues with Matilde making thinly veiled snarky remarks to Carlos while Manuela, Laz and Kari look on. Lazaro observes that he can’t believe that Jero seems to have been swallowed up by the earth. Pris walks or saunters in and pets “mi Charlie”, stroking his cheek to the disgust of all. And the boob doesn’t stop her. Matilde’s eyes look stunned.

Renata’s room is filled with Adriana, Matias and Regina discussing what to do when the maid comes in to tell Renata that someone has come and is asking for her, but she doesn’t now who. Renata stomps out asking why she didn’t get his name. We see sad sack Saul telling her that she and he are companions of the same pain that they were both left by the pair. Saul is quite drunk, reeling and insisting that Jero took off with Marina when he was supposed to go away with her and marry her in spite of her having Renata’s husband’s children. But they abandoned both you and me. Matias can barely keep Saul from falling into Renata.

Next: The horrified looks continue with this new batch of woes but Anibal our young hero puts the puzzle together with all he knows of Augies tricks he has been planning on the phone and paying sums to various smarmy visitors to ruin some wedding. We see him confiding all to Padre Severino. Please don’t let it be a private confession that Padre can’t act on…

Wow, Cheryl, that was fast. I'm so glad you were there to the end. The show must have run over. I had the VCR set to run until 3 minutes after and it still cut off just as Saúl arrived. I figured that that was what he was going to claim. I wonder what really happened to Jero and his vehicle.

I loved your title and your first paragraph. A very satisfying recap all around. I loved your description of Auggie as he tried to --"slip away with his smug grin still keeping his jaws from jutting. Lots of smug winks and sneers from Auggie & Berta tonight.

I'm really needing my beanie to keep hoping for a turn around for Roberta. It's ultimas capitulas and she is nasty as ever. She loves putting it to everbody, doesn't she. She was loving giving that baby news to Auggie.

I don't think that Saúl was there when the guys saw Jero waiting by his truck and Marina getting out of the taxi with her suitcase.

All the way throgh I kept willing Anibal to spill what he knows. I hope that the previews aren't a tease and that he really does share his insights.

Thanks again, Cheryl, great recap.

Thanks for this great recap, Cheryl. A lot of pain and suffering tonight but it was fun watching Anibal as our Mexican Zen (great detective series on PBS that the dumb BBC did not renew). Like you I'm hoping his conversation isn't a confession but this padre is the biggest blabber mouth in my days of watching TNs. He spills private conversations and gives some of the worst advice ever at the drop of a hat.

So I wonder if Renata's pregnancy will alter Augie's plan. It seemed to put a damper on his plans - ha. And Roberta still only enjoying life when others are in misery.

I hope we get to see where poor Jero and Marina are. Do you think she too got kidnapped? We already know that Augie is crazy but stressing out a pregnant woman is even low for him.

Cheryl, this was a terrific recap and you posted so quickly. Gracias amiga! I love how you tied the Virgin theme in with today, her special day of celebration. I laughed out loud when you said "I'm going in!" Too funny.

Honestly, I can't imagine what would be enough to get Jero out of Ensenada without him even calling Renata or Carlos or Laz or anyone? It's crazy. I kept expecting a scene where he was waking up drugged or something. But no, now we have to wait until tomorrow (I hope) to find out. Gah!

Oh man I loved Augustin's face when Roberta told him Renata is pregnant. He is purely obsessed and has no love for her at all because he wouldn't have put her through the night of torture if he really loved her.

Oh dear, Anibal spills his guts to the padre? Bad choice there. As Karen says, Padre S is a blabbermouth and gives rotten advice.

Karen, BBC did not renew Zen? Crap. I loved Rufus Sewell in that. What terrible news!

OT - yes Sylvia they did not renew Zen and Rufus was great in that role; the entire cast was excellent. The controller should have been honest and said it was b/c the series was too expensive to produce. Instead he tried to say there were too many male detective shows being produced. While it is true (there aren't a lot of female detective programs), its not like the BBC will now try to produce more. And if they didn't recognize that the series was one of the best in recent years, they are idiots.

Another OT - Carlos, are Baylor fans still on Cloud 9 with their new Heisman winner?

Thanks Cheryl! I kept tring to hurry through writing my LFDD recap so that I could get to yours to see your take on the episode tonight. It was a treat!

No one actually saw Jero speak to Saul or Marina. Matias and Laz first saw Jero standing outside. Then they saw him enter the building. Then they saw Marina exit a cab in front of the building. Then the audience saw Saul watching it all. Laz and Matias probably didn't even notice Saul and if they didn't they wouldn't register him because they didn't know hwo he was at the time. So what we have is a bonafide muystery on our hands!

I had to laugh at the shocked expressions of Matias, Hon and Gonzo when they heard this Marina woman is having Jero's babies. "And you went back to him?!" But Nata defended her right to choose to be with Jero, as much as Marina did her right to be with Saul, if she so chose. And Nata was big enough to admit both she and Jero made mistakes while they were apart. Granted, his mistake was HUGE! Like tiwns huge! But I like that she didn't back down.

Did you see Manuela's face during that scene? She's been Jero's biggest cheerleader to Nata through all his crap, and for the first time she was actually seeing how this all looked from an outsider's point of view. I mean, everyone at the hacienda has always been on Jero's side. They were on his side all the times he was a jerk to Nata, and they were on his side when he tried to win her back. Now they see how messed up this all looks to people for whom Nata is their first priority, and it doesn't look pretty. LOL!

More tomorrow.

Sorry for the typos. It's late and I'm tired from recapping.

Karen, thanks for the 411. My sister and I loved watching the Zen series on our Sister's Night. I'll have to tell her the sad news. Bummer! And how annoying.

Back on topic: I missed the puppy tonight. I wonder where it is?

Vivi, I also enjoyed watching Manuela's face during that whole interaction. What a wonderful actress to convey so much meaning with mere facial expressions. I admit to cheering Matias and Gonzo with their incredulity that Nata would take Jero back. It seemed very real for a dad and brother-type (who is also an ex) to behave like that.

Good evening, friends. It is so nice to having people check in so early, but then I was unusually early too! I really appreciate the support and kind comments. Ha, I never know how long it will really take. I will try to correct the sighting of Jero and then Marina. You are all correct, Saul was shown only to us hapless viewers. He is a piece of work though, isn't he.

Manuela was terrific tonight with her thoughtful looks. Actually lots of great acting in this episode.

Cheryl:

Terrific recap, amiga. Really loved how you said, "I'm going in", after the summary.

Anibal holds the key to this mystery, now doesn't he? Where could Jero possibly be that he cannot call anyone to tell them he is OK? I guess the henchman took his phone...Also, someone call Marina. That will show Saul to be a lying dog.

Guera, you need an extra-strength beanie to still believe in Roberta. The only redemption I can imagine is as follows:

Augustin and Jero have a sword fight in the wine cellar of La Cruz. Renata, Roberta and Anibal are all there watching in horror as Augie lunges and accidentally slips, sending his sabre straight toward his beloved Renata. Roberta, in a fit of belated affection for her sister, jumps in front of Renata and takes a sword for her sister—in the head! Oh, my.

Renata and Baby Linares are saved and Roberta survives, but with such a devastating head-injury Berta has a complete change of character and personality. She becomes deeply religious and devotes herself to working in the Church with Antonio, taking the Fingerprint project all over Mexico, thus helping keep thousands of little children safe.

Plausible? Not hardly.

EJ

EJ, What a fun alternate reality! It ties up all the loose ends so nicely.

Cheryl: This was fantastic. First, thank you for what I know will be one of my favorite phrases "cursi tonta". Pure pleasure beginning to end. "...Augie slipping in among the crowd to slip away with his smug grin still keeping his jaws from jutting" was great, (ITA with you Guera) but " Roberta puts finger to pouty, venomous mouth in mock obedience" was genius.

Manuela was the highlight of last night but unfortunately, there were simply too many lows to count.

I breathed a sigh of relief seeing Anibal talking with Padre. It never occurred to me he would tell the Padre the conversation was priviliged, but maybe he is afraid of Augie's retribution not only against himself but others.

Let's hope Jero and Marina turn up safe and sound - quickly.

Diana

EJ- I love your ending! I really don't know what the writers will do with Berta. They have shown us brief flashes of humanity in her. We know she was twisted by her mother. And she hasn't personally killed/ordered killed someone. But she has beeen an accomplice to murderers. And I don't care how much she cries about things afterwards. How can she not know that Fina and Augie are capable or resorting to murder when they say they are going to "take care of" someone or get them out of the way? What does she think they are planning? To send Gonzo, Gina, Connie, Zeke, Nata, and Jero on a little vacation? She knows they are planning MURDER.

I had to laugh when Nata woke up looking like a wreck (understandable), but Gina rose from her sitting sleeping position looking perfect and fresh. The woman never has a hair out of place!

The previews also showed Nata having that heart attack/fainting spell(?) they flashed us two weeks ago. I'm worried for this baby. Remember all the heart incidents Berta had before she miscarried.

EJ, I love your alternate redeption ending.
Güera

Another funny little moment. Anyone else notice how the judge quickly packed up his stuff and got ready to go when it looked like the groom had done a runner? Almost like he has seen this plenty of times before and knows the deal.

Vivi, I got a kick out of the judge too. It's not alike he has such a jam packed schedule. Funny!

The redemption potential of Roberta is registering down near zero or snowballs in hell on my meter.

And the Matilde/Carlos misery is making me disgusted. Carlos must be having second thoughts, that is if he is capable of first thoughts these days.

Cheryl! Thank you Amiga! UUUUuuuuf! I am so mad I could just spit! I could snatch that skank Roberta by a hank of her hair and beat the living $h*t out of her!!! Oh she was particularly disgusting this episode --- oh, what punishment for her! She definitely cannot die! I want her live and suffer and everyone to know what a multiple-faced, trecherous, pass around pack of a whore she is! How about, to start, a cell shared with Blanca and Fina and a rough, gray, burlap shift to wear day in and day out while her unwashed hair splinters into strings of slime.

And MiCharlie. My recording goofed up so I didn't see that scene with Prissyass but your description makes me mad, too. You mean he let her stroke his cheek and purr "MiCharlie" and he did nothing to stop it? No wonder poor Mati's eyes were stunned! What a spineless idiot! I'm totally losing respect for this estupido!

Ok, y'all have a lovely day. . .off to work!

Lila

What a great recap, Cheryl. My favorite moment was Roberta's eagerness to share with Augie the news of Nata's pregnancy. She seems to be at her happiest when someone else is unhappy whether it's someone she abhors or someone she's fond of.

I guess that Pris has decided to launch a full frontal assault on mi Charlie. I'm ready for Mati to dump his sorry butt.

Aníbal needs to goose his little hamster. the wheel seems to be turning awfully slowly.

When Blanca was communing with the Virgin, she gave us quite a glimpse of one of her assets... was I the only one who noticed?

Karen, I don't think anyone can imagine how thrilled we are about RG3. He is much much more than a great athlete.

"I’m going in!!"

Too funny, Cheryl.

Carlos

Thanks for dropping in Lila. We are thinking a like here on the disgust-o-meter. Roberta at least looks like she is really enjoying herself basking in her sister's misery and cheering Augie's dastardly deeds. I wonder how close she is to the line, the murder is the next step line, I mean.

Lila, aren't you on tonight? I hope you get a few happy moments but all the disasters are still building, so I am not feeling much optimism here. I think Anibal has all the hope riding on him. May he have the courage to bring Augie to account.

Hi Carlos, I did feel like I was being air-dropped into the battle field. What a mess of messes we have to sort out in the next three weeks. HA!

Also, as a footnote: The photo of the Virgin of Guadelupe used today is part of a collection I am working on. This one was on a side wall at the Cathedral in Taxco.

I think the last 1-2 weeks of happy, happy Nata and Jero was meant to steel us for the bad times we are now in. I hope those like me who love the happy romantic scenes got our fill, because it looks like we're in for a flood of tears and a drought of happiness. Meanwhile, those of you who were sick of the sweetness got your wish. Let the bitter times roll! :)

Yah, Cheryl, I'm on tonight. That's one reason why I wanted to get my cussin' done now. Don't want my recap to be one long screaming rant but yah, Roberta seems like she's just thumbing her nose at all her faithful, long-suffering supporters. She is SO bad I think she could participate in murder in more than a "passive" way. She has contempt for everybody. I want her to get a big time hurtin' put on her.

Hmmmm, Carlos, guess that catch of baring of assets was a man thang. . .I totally missed it. . .one of her boobs almost fall out? ;D

Lila

Not only did Roberta act nasty in this episode but she looked nasty. Her look was not at all fetching -- but that didn't seem to bother Auggie. He's so high on himself he probably didn't care as long as he got his premio.

It looked to me as though Carlos started to push Pris away as she caressed his cheek then looked at Mati and decided to let he continue her Mi Charlie seduction. It used to look like cluelessness. this looked vindictive. Anybody else see it that way?

Güera

(Guau -- my word verification is "blest" -- just how I feel in he company of all of you on this site.)

Yeah, Guera, I get that vibe from Carlos now. He did hesitate and shirk just a twitch then stay for the end of the carress. I hope it is a desire to bug Matilde and not an indecision about Prisspants.

EJ, I think we need to put and Vivi in a room and let you two brainstorm some great plot lines and possible alternate endings.

I was very annoyed at Micharlie last night. He should have pushed Prissy's hand away and coldly instructed "Have some professionalism; you are here to work." Sigh. No wonder Mati's in a tizzy.

Hee, word verification is amessnab, which is what Jero is in.

Cheryl, it's a beautiful photo and seems even more lovely now that we know it is in our current favorite town of Taxco.

Ah mi Cheryl...love your play on words to the old "it's not nice to fool Mother Nature". We know Blanca will come to a very bad end...messing with the Virgen is even worse than disrespecting your mama. Her goose is cooked.

I was utterly miserable last night watching this. In spite of her plucky courage and upbeat "he WILL be found" attitude, Renata's anguish when she was all alone was hard to watch (and listen to). Too too real. The woman's a great actress but oh my...I DO want this stage to be over quickly.

The hairdressers did a wonderful job of making Roberta look as ugly as her insides. And Regina remains the ever-beautiful benevolent mama, watching over her chick by night. Love how their bond gets closer and deeper, without knowing they are actually mother and daughter.

"I'm going in" and "slicker than snot on a doorknob"....hmmm...you were in a wild mood Cheryl. Thanks. Awesome as always.

Hi Cheryl! Thanks for sharing the image of the Virgen of Guadalupe on her feast day. And thanks for an awesome recap!

I missed any subtleties of Carlos hesitating before letting Prissbutt do her thing. All I saw was Prissbutt waltzing in and exhibiting outrageous behavior in public. I couldn't believe Carlos let her do that. But if that is part of his "strategy" - well he is still a boob!

Yeah, poor Roberta! She can only experience joy when she thinks she is screwing someone else over! Boy, she just couldn't wait to drop the bomb on Augie! And poor, dumb Augie - he never considered such an obvious outcome!?! He doesn't begin to fathom Renata's feelings for Jero. But then he never did get Renata. She was just "different" from the other women, and thus became a desired trophy.

Audrey

Didn't watch again last night--except my usual last 10 minutes to see if I wanted to risk it. I'm so bummed about this Nata/Jero storyline that I'm only going to read the recap and comments for now.
Oh and I swear if I have to hear that skank say "mi Charlie!!!" one more time, I'm going completely LOSE IT!!!!!!

Now on to the always excellent recap and comments, mi Caray, Caray! Gang.

Robey

"Slicker than snot on a doorknob"...EWWWWWW. That made my skin crawl nearly as much as Augie does. Well done.

Carlos is an idiot. The nasty case of Besos Paralysis was bad enough. But letting Pris grope him on purpose to make Mati jealous? Moron. That isn't going to make her jealous, it's just going to prove that her suspicions were right. Plus, don't his hands seem pretty well recovered? It looks like he has full use of his fingers. Why is Pris even still there?

Oh God help me - it was such a stressful episode last night - I got just as stressed out as poor Nata.

Lila, if you want we can go find Roberta and I'll beat the living sh*t out of her with you. She will never change, and I hope she doesn't die either. I want her to get leprosy and her nose falls off. Then I hope she gives it to Augesfiend (leprosy, not her nose that is) and his you-know-what falls off.

I can't take it - it's too stressful. And when are those stupid fingerprints getting to what's his name. What's his name? Can never think of his name, but you know who I mean. Anibal DO SOMETHING!!!

Ok.

Love, Mary :(

Yah, let's get her Mary: I've got to recap tonight, the most stressful episode in my looong recapping career of 2 episodes. We might all have to give each other group hugs!

And yah, when is Isidro going to get the fingerprints? I know Connie's problem has him preoccupied but now that Hon is back with Con maybe he can get back on the case and get the evidence to the proper authorities. Renata needs to know at this horrific time that the love she feels from Regina is the REAL thing! This piece of news, however, is the real biggie and I don't think our semi-sadistic writers are ready for this to be revealed yet. Drat!

Lila

Group hug? I need a group view - I don't think I can do this alone again. :( I have to watch with one eye closed - thank God I don't speak Spanish (not really, but) I don't even get most of the stuff that's going on - but just watching Renata's face - then Roberta's face - I go from anguish to rage and back again.

Oh poor Lila - doing the recap tonight - know that I'm sending strength to you tonight.

Oh yeah, Isidro, come on Isi, get it together. Screw Coni - she brought this crapola on herself - big dummy - what was she thinking? She'll be fine - a couple of days in the can will do her some good.

If only I could do the writing for the next few days.

Mary :(

Guera and Cheryl:

RE: MiCharlie. First let me say by way of disclaimer that I love Carlos de la Mota. I think he is a fine actor and is playing the character of Carlos MiCharlie to a "T". And this TN has constantly surprised me with the excellent and consistent character development and writing—Big Thanks to the scribes.

However, as a viewer MiCharlie is driving me to distraction. Again, I note that the writers have done a superb job here, giving us a sweet hearted, loyal, book-smart mama's boy who hasn't got a single vertebrae in his spine. He is so conflict avoidant that he creates more conflict by his inaction!

The writers have given us a picture of a real personality here, and it has a dark side. MiCharlie's passivity means that in his own mind he is always being 'done to', no? He was just standing there, right? It wasn't HIS fault that Prissybutt kissed him, was it? Carlos is always the innocent in his own mind, he always plays the victim and neatly escapes responsibility for his own actions. As to the sub-text in his behavior—his "kinda-come-hither" deal with Prissy—well, he can always raise his bandaged hands and we will see he has left no fingerprints on the interaction.

Watching this on a TN we can see how hostile and manipulative this behavior is. Last night the mask slipped and Carlos' passive aggression with Matilde was very obvious. In real life folks like Carlos can sometimes get away with an enormous amount of hostility because they choose histrionic partners who end up acting out and looking like the bad guys. It is easy to blame Matilde for being an immature shrew or Prissy for being predatory but Carlos was cruel to Matilde last night and it wasn't pretty.

Nice work de la Mota!

I have known a few MiCharlie's in my time.

JudyB:

I, too, hated watching Renata suffer last night. Her, "Why isn't he here with me?" broke my heart.

Cheryl: I love that photo of la Virgen de G—you are so talented. Do you a web site where you sell your work? It is so beautiful and you are very generous to share it with us at Caray. Thank you.

Ooh! Nice analysis of MiCharlie EJ. All of our characters in this tn have a good side (except Fina, Augie and Berta) and a bad side. They all have moments when they shine and exceed our expectations, and we love them. But they all also have moments when their basest flaws and instincts take over, and in those moments we want to slap them silly. Carlos is currently going through one of those phases. Unlike real life, by the end of this, everyone, except the villains who have met their appropriate ends, will have firmly embraced their "good" sides and made penance for their idiotic actions.

Brilliant EJ! That's what that almost kiss was for sure! Doh! Between him, Prissy, Auggie, Berta, Fina and Blaaanca I'm feeling ACTIVELY aggressive. Thanks for the positive vibes, Mary, I send them to all of you and appreciate getting them as well cause tonight's going to be torturous! (Word ver "sodysist" sounds kinda mean and obscene, good descriptor for Berta!)

There really was some great acting last night. SN continues to be an amazing crier (in addition to an amazing actress). I am always moved to tears when she has these moments of anguish. While I was just annoyed by Doc Weepy. I know the situations were different, but I think if SN had the Doc Weepy role, I would have been more moved. No slight to Marta Julia, who really has a thankless role as Marina.

I was also really touched by how Nata and Gina continue to bond. Berta is so stupid. Just because they don't know they are related by blood, will not stop the growing love between Nata and Gina, and will not stop Gina from considering Nata's children her grandchildren. She's already been friends with Jero and his family for years, so she already has a bond with any children that are his.

Great analysis EJ! I've known a few Micharlie's in my day and you are so right. I never quite followed through trying to figure them out, just somehow sensed that their passivity was their version of bullying and thus was repelled by it.

Telenovela Carlos is not really a bad guy and I'm sure he will see the light (I hope).

Roberta is a complex character because we have seen what made her the way she is. However as an adult she consistently makes the wrong decisions and that will be her downfall. In comparison, Renata, with the similar upbringing, has consistently made the right decisions about how to approach life.

We never really saw what made Pepa such a witch. Yes, she was dumped in a horrible manner by her boyfriend, but that has happened to all or most of us and we did not turn into kidnappers and murderers. Regina had her child stolen and she did not turn evil. She created a center and oasis for mothers and children in difficult situations.

We don't know Augustin's background, just that he is a controlling rat bastard with a murderous streak. Both he and Jero are control freaks but Jero has some awareness now of how destructive that can be while Augustin has gleefully given himself over to the dark side.

I like how this telenovela shows those sorts of parallels.

Lila:

You'll do great tonight—I have complete faith in you—but I think it is hard to recap these dark episodes. Knock 'em dead, m'dear!

EJ

Sylvia:

As to how Josefina got to be sorotten—good question. I think we have to put this one down to nature; she seems a born sociopath. Rocio B. plays her with such melodramatic abandon that I feel like she is twirling an invisible mustache and winking at the audience every time we see her on camera. Such an INTERESTING and perfectly depraved serial killer, our Pepa. That LAUGH!

I've gotta go with "Born that way".

EJ

EJ...oh my, loved your analysis of the passive-aggressive character and how it plays out. Believe me, if you're married to someone like that, you BECOME histrionic even if you weren't before. And real easy for those guys to sit back, once you blow, roll their eyes and say "see what I have to put up with?" Alcoholics can be masters at this.

However, since this is a script with a happy ending, we can trust that Carlos will see the light and finally bust Miss Prissy.

With Augustin, we haven't been told much, but I thought it was intimated that he was a much indulged only child of rich snobby parents.

With Roberta and Renata, heredity seems to be a big factor. Same father but markedly different mothers. Not that genetics is a one to one influence but it sure does seem to factor in.

My antenna was fizzing out last night, so thanks for a great recap. I'm sorry I missed Manuela's reactions, but not sorry I missed Carlos and Pris. Maybe Mati should put that headband to use and strangle the girl.

No way would Anibal tell the padre things under confession. He's too smart to keep all this a secret. Carlos is an idiot. Anibal is not. He needs to pack up his stuff and sneak out of Cruz before it's too late. I worry for him, going up against Augie. Do we think Augie will try to hurt the pregnancy? That would for sure mark him for death. No one would mourn, except maybe Roberta. He really is missing out on a good thing there since she's the only one who gets him.

Kelly

I'm curious as to how Jerry was abducted. He was lured to a very public place. Were threats to harm Marina and the twins used? Are Jerry and Marina being held in the same place? Will the rats make another appearance? I would think at this point Jerry and Marina will both be marked for murder. Yikes! I don't dislike either one that much.

Judy, I meant to comment on how much I liked Roberta's hairdo. Maybe a bit severe for her angular face, but I thought that she looked very attractive. Like Güera, I'm still holding out hope for Robi.

Carlos

Kelly: "No one would mourn, except maybe Roberta." Roberta would just mourn the loss of a butt buddy -- remember what she said about Zeke?! I truly hope they don't drag Jero's absence out past tonight!

Lila

Wow Carlos...you liked that look!? Okay, and you're holding out for redemption...you've surprised us before. Maybe Roberta has a chance if you're in her corner (and still like the way she looks). Go for it, amigo...You're the Tim Tebow of Bad Girls. Never give up.

I hope you're right, Lila, but I fear that the missing Jero is going to go on for quite a while. I've been worrying about that screen shot of Jero in black jacket weeping which is included in the new opening. I've been afraid that maybe (briefly) Auggie will get what he wants. If Nata believes Saúl tonight could she acatually give up on Jero and turn to Auggie since in her mind he's always been a rock, at her side and supportive????

Sorry Carlos. I thought that hairdo on Berta was frightful -- the dress too.

EJ great analysis of MiCharlie.

You are so right Vivi. Nata's crying is always believable and never grating like weepers so often are. She's a great actress.

Lila-- Knock em dead tonight. It'll be a brutal episode but I'm sure that you'll keep us rapt.

Güera

Hi everybody, back to business after lots of fun last week. All caught up with CME.

Everyone deserves a group hug, even if it's virtual--and a few pats on the back.

Mike and Emilia--life will be different, but there will always be a place in your lives for the wonderful memories of a mother.

Vivi--I just read your Pear Robe Research Project. It is wonderful. Now I wish we could find someone to do the glassware with the blue rims--they seem to span the centuries (in Amor Real and Sortilegio). They seem to be absent in CME.

As you all know, I'm always on the alert for Nesme sightings. We might just as well have forgotten him, but then we got the brief (and head-scratching) moment where he's groping the bars of his cell (and yes, I think I saw one hand drop down below the camera angle). WHY did we have to be reminded of him....SURELY the writers have plans for him.

Maybe Augie WILL end up in jail and Mexican Jesus Man will be on Nesme's side and start peeling Augie alive, bit by bit, starting with groin and butt skin.

Saul showing up at the Not-Wedding was a shocker. Augie really knows how to twist the knife once it is in. How on earth does he think Renata will turn to him. If Jero conceivably were to be gone for good, Nata would go back to DF and try to start over--there's NO WAY she would move over to CruzSinAmor and have her baby and start a happy family with JutJaw.

Go Ani. I think you have enough to go to Nata with your suspicions. I sure hope PS urges you to do so.

For my next project, I'm collecting all the CME Items for sale, including Lazaro Saved Me and I heart Chema tees. If you call me CME obsessed, I'd have to confess to it.

So far, though, I haven't run across any white linen jackets in ladies' sizes only with a 'Jero is My Hero' trademark, tastefully stitched over the left breast.

Mary...would you buy one? I will, if you will.
NOK

JudyB: O how right you are about alcoholics and passive aggression (in my experience)! And again, ITA about what happens to people in relationship with passive-aggressives—they go aggro and become histrionic themselves. As an old mentor of mine once said, "It's the only job left to do".

What shocks me is how often folks fall for the "poor MiCharlie" routine and hold the partner completely to blame. Women can be so susceptible to this little drama, blaming the mean-bad-bitchy wife for poor Charlie's sad life.

So, back to the TN, there are three people dancing this dance and Matilde is only the smallest piece of the problem, IMHO.

EJ

MiCheryl, another homerun. I loved your "I'm going in!" I could just see you, quill in hand, beanie askew, camera at the ready, dashing into the fray - ok, you were a little weighted down, sorry.

Our children never 'blessed' us with snot covered doorknobs (a few chocolate doorknobs, but that's not so bad.) I did, however step on a slug, a big, big slug, barefoot - me, not the slug - so YUK! Better the sole of the foot than the palm of the hand.

Carlos, I agree that Anibal needs to goose his hamster. But Mi Charlie needs a brand new hamster since his obviously has retired to Happy Cedar Chips, and the wheel rusted. Ah Charlie, let us hope that you really are a noncompoop rather than passive/aggressive.

Thanks for the kind words, NOK. We are doing very well...

Lila, your rant today was coffee out the nose good. Thanks. And, we are all cheering for you tonight. It ain't gonna be purty but we know you will give us your inimitable slant on things - can't wait.

I think Nata's crying isn't grating because she doesn't do it in every freakin' scene! (Kari, Marina, are you paying attention?!)

To be fair, now that our Kari is happily married to Laz she's turned off the waterworks.

Robey

Totally agree with everyone: loved the MiCharlie analysis EJ. Great insight!

I think what bugged me most about Marina's crying was how her hair kept getting bigger the more pathetic her character became LOL! By the end there she looked like she was wearing 10 pounds of hair and it even made her ears stick out. They do go crazy with those hair extensions don't they? Not sure what the point was, but between the wide mouth, ears and the big hair, it just got so bizarre. So far I seen this actress play two characters and they were both pathetic, needy ones.

Audrey

Interesting about Marina's hair, Audrey. I think it was Sylvia who pointed out that as Blanca descended into madness her curls got tighter and tighter. Of course, now that she's in the nuthouse her hair is poker straight, go figure...

Audrey, you really gave me a giggle with your blooming hair observation. Those hair extensions (or wig) are kind of weird looking on Marina.

Emilia, I had forgotten about Blanca's tightening locks. I wonder if they will get curly again once she escapes and starts wreaking havoc? Hard to believe they'd let the ladies play hair-salon with a real straightening iron.
