Cuando Me Enamoro #176 Thursday 12/29/11 A man that studieth revenge keeps his own wounds green.*

*Francis Bacon

Big excitement last night as we were left with the huge revelation to Renata that she is the hija verdadera of Regina Soberon! Renata even has a mini memory of her first birthday with Mama Regina, Abuela Cata and Papa Roberto. How much can this little lady’s heart take? Well, quite a lot actually. You’ll see...

Tonight we get to relive one of telenoveladom’s sweetest scenes ever, culminating in the long-awaited hug between mother and daughter. OMG, this scene made me cry! Twice.

Adri is lunching with Sele for her fact-finding mission. Sele says heck all Adri had to do was ask, she is only too happy to spill the soup...Berta and Ughi are more than accomplices, they are lovers! They are birds of a feather, made for each other, two peas in a pod, whatever (son tal para cual). In fact there hasn’t been a man close to Renata whom Roberta has not taken to bed, the exception being Jeronimo (to Adri’s obvious relief). Sele says she already told this to Jeronimo which surprises Adri. Sele agrees to tell all of this to Renata to prove what an extreme cock...roach Augustin is.

Renata is still stunned as Regina explains how they proved her real identity. Nata loses it, gasping and crying while Gonzo soothes her. When she finally processes the truth we get to see our favorite heroine as happy as she deserves to be. “You are Mi Mama!” she cries, giving Regina one of her world-class hugs. They have a brief mutual love fest but it’s all good, they deserve it. Wow, what a scene, I can’t even describe it but let’s just say I totally believe these actors.

Renata is thrilled and jumps around happily smiling at her REAL mother and the only father she’s ever known. Gonzo thanks God that he has both these wonderful women in his life. Enjoy it now man, because anvils and evil are overhead and around every corner.

Speaking of evil, Malafina’s about to mack down a sandwich in Germy’s hideaway when who should arrive but the eponymous lothario himself. He’s all Who the heck are you and why are you here? Fina throws out “Uh, I’m Berta’s friend just staying at her apartment while she’s out of town.” Germy’s got news, it’s HIS apartment, not Berta’s. Germy says she’s cool for the moment but first thing manana she’s outta there. Fina forgets her glass of wine and goes for the hardstuff while spitting curses at Berta’s estupidez. Right, I always thinks whisky pairs well with a ham and queso sandwich.

Germy leaves but wonders where he’s seen Fina’s familiar face before. He calls Berta and rips her a new one. She’s snips “hey we were supposed to be boinking the weekend away elsewhere.” He announces they are over and she asks “Are you breaking up with me?” (No s**t Sherlock, what did the man just say?) He confirms it and guess what she calls him? “Viejo Estupido!” she hisses, rubbing her achy breaky heart.

Tony brings the handsome investigator over to La Bonita so Carlos can give him the 411 about everything they found on Augustin’s laptop. He says both Augustin and Saul are implicated in Jero’s disappearance and he’ll show them the proof.

Laz is over at Alfonsina’s instructing her to keep her boobies outta Melesio’s face. “He’s not a nice person,” understates Laz. He says he’s got a plan to out Mele and show that Augustin is behind all these pigster events (to use Marta’s perfect description).

The investigator reviews the documents and is surprised they have managed to get us much proof as they have. He’ll hold on to the copies and take care of next steps. At least I think that’s what went on in this scene. Frankly I barely understood a word he said. I wish these young actors would learn to enunciate like the old pros.

Berta, at Casa Monterrubio, calls Fina to tell her she’ll pick her up tomorrow at stupid Germy’s apartment. She’s at the top of the stairs and hears Nata come in talking to Carlos on the phone. They found Saul in Las Vegas who admitted that Augustin is behind Jero’s disappearance. She says that tomorrow they’ll file the complaint against both Augustin and Saul in Baja and she’ll see him then. And be sure to thank Anibal. Roberta scampers away from her hiding place, no doubt to call Ughi, so she doesn’t  hear Nata call Regina mama, heh heh. Gonzo reminds them not to tell Berta about their news so they can catch Berta in her lies. Ha, Nata teases him in her whispery chipmunk voice, agreeing to restrain herself.

We get another “I’m so glad you found me Mami” and “I love you SO MUCH daughter” and big ol’ hug. Those two are going to have to cut that crap out if they want to fool Berta. Aw heck, one more time can’t hurt.

Speaking of Miss SmileOfJaws (sorry Doctor Carlos) she’s on the phone ratting to the rat (not the cute kind) what she just heard. He goes jut-jaw and non-guapo, swearing that before they find him he and Renata will be far far away and nobody, but nobody, will ever find them. Yikes.

Sabina can’t find the phone number for La Bonita so she tells the young guy, I’ll call him Joven, that he’ll have to go to the hacienda personally right now to get Mati and Laz to identify Jero. Thank goodness she feels a sense of urgency. I could hug her.

Manuela is making tostadas for Ali and Ani and wants to know how her appointment went. Ani is chopping onions instead of squash; what happened to all the squash? Ali says she’ll be going to therapy twice a week and Anibal will take her. She’s admitted she has Anorexia which is a big step, but she doesn’t want to tell her parents yet. Apparently they work all day and they’re never home. I think this lack of parental presence is supposed to help explain her illness. She wants to stay at La B forever. Abue finally agrees.

Oh hey, it’s Luciana the only bank manager in MC. Gonzo and Isidro are coordinating with her and the police to set up the sting on Berta and Fina.

Regina calls Ines to tell her how happy she is to finally have her daughter and grandchild next to her.  Her soul is finally at peace but they still have to find Jero. She wants to give Nata all the happiness she deserves. Many words of hope and determination, blah blah blah.

Nata shares her news with Adri who is glad Nata has a true and loving mom after that nightmare of an evil stepmother...horrors! Sele arrives and surprise, she is there to see Renata not Roberta. Oh my, just then Roberta clacks down the stairs and thinks Sele is there to invite Berta to her wedding, LOL! “Actually, I’m here to tell Renata exactly what type of bitch you are,” smiles Sele. Berta commands her to shut up, like that would actually work. Sele tells Nata that after she was engaged to Ughie Berta lured him into her bed. “Shut up, stupid!” yells Berta. Hee, check out all their faces. That was good! Rewindx2.

Laz has told Carlos his plan but we didn’t get to hear it, darn. It involves Alfonsina and it’s risky. Come on, that’s all we get? In the midst of their man hug in walks Joven to tell them Sabina found a dying guy in a ravine and wonders if it’s the same guy they are seeking. He called for both Laz and Mati in his incoherent mutterings.

Berta admits that yes, she and Ughie were lovers and Sele pipes up that Berta tried the nasty with all Nata’s boyfriends and guys who liked her. Sele says she’s glad of the opportunity to tell the truth and unmask the Berta bitch. They tell her Jero also knew about this and Adri gets a little dig in that Jero tried to tell Renata what a creep Ughie is but Nata didn’t believe him. Berta tries to hit Sele but luckily Sele stops her hand, so Berta runs out and calls her guess what? Yep, Estupida!

Carlos shows Joven a foto of Jero and Joven says it could be but the guy’s face is pretty messed up. Sabina saw some guys beat him up and kick him into the ravine. Mati is going nuts right now and Carlos is right behind her. They decide they’d better check out the mystery guy first before calling Renata.

Marina calls Tio Padre to update him about Saul and Evil Ughie. He says he suspected as much based on someone’s confession. Mari has no idea what Ughie did with Jero but they’ve just got to find him.

Nata is driving herself crazy wondering what Ughie did with her husband when Regina comes in the room. Regi is shocked to hear that Berta was boinking Ughie.

Over at EM Germy apologizes to Hons and Matias and says he’ll clear out his office. One thing before he goes though, when he was over at the apartment he met a friend of Berta’s who looked familiar. He just remembered who she is, Fina the ex-mujer of Gonzo. Hons can’t believe it, the police thoroughly searched the apartment. “Even the servant’s room?” asks Germy. Hons asks is Germy completely sure? Yep, and now that he thinks of it he heard Berta on the phone talking to someone she called Mama but he knows it wasn’t Regina. The guys get ready to call the cops but Germy tells them not to bother, she left the apartment this morning. Darn!!! I must admit I’m surprised at Germy for manning up and sharing what he knows with the guys just fired his butt. Are you thinking of that reference letter Germy?

Berta and Fina are set up in a hotel that’s not quite up to Fina’s standards. Beggars can’t be choosers, they didn’t require a credit card deposit or ID. “It’s horrible!” gripes Fina. But enough about Fina, Berta wants to talk about herself, what’s horrible is what Sele did to her, blabbing to Nata that Berta was Ughie’s lover. Berta smugly smiles that at least Renata knows that while Ughie professed love for her he was actually in Berta’s arms. Fina points out Berta has only succeeded in alienating herself further. Nice job Estupida.

At Casa Monterrubio Gonzo, Regina, Nata and Adri talk about Roberta being a bad seed and making her own rotten choices. Gonzo tells them about the upcoming bank sting and he wants Nata to come with them and claim her inheritance. Nata kind of freaks out. She wants to spend 100% of her time and attention on finding Jero and she doesnt’ care about the money, it’s not important. Regina agrees, if it weren’t for the inheritance none of this would have happened. Gonzo calmly says it was her father Roberto’s desire. Renata relents and agrees to go with them that afternoon.

Down in Ensenada the investigator brings the proof against Saul and Ughie to the police station. The guy in charge says he will put an arrest warrant out on Augustin Dunant. Investigator gives him the name of the hotel where Ughie is staying in the DF.

The La B delegation arrives at Sabina’s. They are shocked at Jero’s hamburger face but thank God that Sabina saved him. She tells them some brutes tried to murder him and we get to see the kick-and-dump-the-body scene again. Ouch!

Carlos whispers to Jero, promising they’ll get to the bottom of this. Sabina says he’s still in bad shape because he doesn’t respond, however he occassionally calls for Renata in his delirium. Sabina says only a love as strong as what Jero feels for Renata can save his life. Super Laz has the great idea that maybe if Jero hears Renata’s voice he’ll respond. Ooooh oooh hoo..the theme song agrees that this is a brilliant plan.

A couple of plainclothes cops go to Ughi’s hotel in the DF only to find he’s flown the coop.

Carlos calls Renata and she thanks God and the woman who saved Jero as Carlos fills her in on Jero’s condition. He’s hoping if Jero hears her voice he’ll respond. Renata coos into the phone that she loves him and his child needs him very very much. She urges him to live and never give up. They are going to be parents, she’s expecting a child of their love. He has to fight for his life for her, for his child and all their future children. She reminds him how much they have overcome to be together. She sobs and begs him to wake up. Jero groans and says her name and asks where she is. His eyes are closed but he continues to tell her he loves her and only wants to be next to her. Hooray!!!

Avances: Renata gets kidnapped! Ughie has her trapped on a boat and he swears (again) that nobody will find them. Jero shows up in a wet suit. Looks like there is going to be a sword fight on the high seas. Cool!!! But probably not tomorrow.

Wow that was fast Sylvia. I haven't had time to read the recap -- which I know I will want to savor over my morning coffee. I just wanted to share some of my favorite scenes.

The slow way that Nata came to realize what Gina & Gonzo were telling her was heartbreakingly real.

I loved the confrontation with Selene and Berta’s parting “estupida” on the stairs. So typical of her.

I’m so glad that Nata & Jero were reunited even if only over the phone line -- nice touch.

BTW I forgot to brag on our #1 Syracuse Orangemen last night. I figure I'd better brag now -- cause those titles have a way of slipping away. But all of Syracuse is pumped right now.

Good night & thanks again Sylvia. See you all in the morning -- when Sylvia is likely to have us spitting coffee all over our keyboards with her wit.

Güera

Fabulous Sylvia... simply fabulous. So many great lines but far and away my favorite:

"Ooooh oooh hoo..the theme song agrees that this is a brilliant plan.

Watching Baylor play Washington in the Alamo bowl... we had tickets and had planned to go, but something came up. At the end of 3rd quarter Baylor is leading 53 to 49. A real nail-biter.

Be back with more tomorrow.

Carlos

Sylvia, you're a master as always. Ughie is a fantastic nickname. Let's hope he gets tossed overboard tomorrow. Maybe we'll get lucky and he'll take Berta with him. The high seas sound pretty awesome for revenge on the villains.

Nata finding out the truth about her mom was beautiful. I'm not ashamed to say I cried. No one in this novela deserves Regina's motherly love more than Nata does. I'm hoping we'll get some more happy family scenes to savor before the last anvil falls.

Jero finally knows he's doubly a daddy! I took his grunts as confirmation he understood what Nata told him. Three babies by two different women. It's a good thing Jero's a zillionaire or he'd be in deep trouble.

Amy

Güera, congratulations on your Orangemen! That's great news.

I'm on cloud 9 because I lucked into such a positive episode tonight. I continue to find it amazing and hilarious that Roberta always calls someone else stupid whenever she is acting her stupidest

Sylvia:

What a great recap title! Such a fine Francis Bacon quote—I am going to write it down. Thank you, thank you. What a great episode!

I loved how you described the scene between Selene and Berta. Selene's comment that Berta always slept with Nata's lovers or boyfriends (except Jero) made my stomach hurt.

Roberta seems to be a little short of disparaging vocabulary this evening. The only insult that came quickly to her lips was "estupido/a". I don't think either German of Selene was deeply hurt by this.

Sylvia, the following comment and your description of the scene just proceeding it were beautifully executed, "Wow, what a scene, I can’t even describe it but let’s just say I totally believe these actors."

Now a technical question for you, Cap'n? Just what kind of boat was that that Augustin was on in the avances? How in the world will Ughie get Renata on a BOAT when they are both in Mexico City???

TBD...Stay tuned. O my! this is exciting.

Thanks again Sylvia for the excellent recap completed and posted with impressive dispatch.

EJ

Sylvia! thanks for the warp speed recap! I could not wait to say how happy i was with the revelations to Nata tonight and the realistic slow reaction on her part... and the moving scenes with Gina and Gonzo.
Also with Adri, who could not be happier for her best friend.

Totally agree with Carlos, the line about the song agreeing with Lazaro was the best one.

totally agree that Roberta is now really making a fool of herself and its a good thing that everyone, including Germ-man is on her and Fina's case. Too bad they already moved to a motel... it will just take a bit longer to find them... but with the scheme in the works at the bank, it will be fun to watch.
The previews of the final eps are encouraging... all the 'good' men are involved in the 'rescue'. poor Jero, it certainly looks like he recovers (or barely sits up on the cot) to get wounded again by Ughie's sword... but Jero is a good swordsman too so dont call him gone yet...

I have to stand and applaud to SN on her acting in the final scenes tonight... boy what pouring of emotions in speaking to your husband to try to bring him back to life... and her reaction when she hears him speak to her... wow!

Carlos and Amy, I missed your comments while I was posting mine. Kudos to Baylor!

Amy, I'm sure you and I weren't the only ones to shed a tear tonight at those lovely scenes.

Props to Julia for the Ughie nickname. Julia is the queen of nicknames and dastardly demises.

EJ, Renata told Carlos on the phone that she was coming to Ensenada tomorrow. I think she will do the bank thing that afternoon then fly out first thing in the morning. I think Adri is going with her and from the previews it looks like Anibal picks her up in Tijuana then they have to drive down to Ensenada.

The boat is obviously a power boat. I'm not really an expert on those, but it looked like a working vessel and it appeared quite big. Renata was stuck in some sort of container, probably used to hold fish or shrimp in real life (poor Silvia!!). The stern looked open which would indicate a boat where one can work from the stern, another fishing boat indicator. I recall seeing some huge shrimp boats down in Ensenada that can hold tons and tons of shrimp. That might be what it is.

Marta, doesn't the rescue look awesome? I can't wait.

Thanks for the comments tonight everyone. Tonight's episode was so fantastic I wanted to post it ASAP.

Well hurray, hurray for our two Sylvias. Our own special Sylvia for posting such a delightful recap of a good news episode made me so happy. And Sylvia Navarro for her finest hour of acting in the restrained coming to accept that her nightmare mother was not her mother but rather this lovely angel Regina is her very own mother. It was an emotional scene mostly because it was so beautifully controlled. Yup, it made me cry all the way through it too. I watched the episode twice and cried both times at this heart-warming scene.

Martina seems to have her emotions under better control since she has gone on an excellent adventure with Renata. But our large jawed Roberta is going to be howling in disappointment that her estupido schemes have come to naught. Isn't it Selene who described it so well: Roberta will be left all alone in the end. I wished she had tripped on the big balls on her way up the stairs. Her down fall is going to be a
moment to moment pleasure.

Good night and thaks again. I too will enjoy this again in the morning.

EJ, look what I found! I'm so glad you asked about the boat.

Buenaventura VI

The article is very brief and doesn't seem to have any spoilers, but the details on the boat are briefly:
-The final scenes were performed on a real shrimp boat named Buenaventura VI in Ensenada, Baja California.
-She is valued at three and a half million pesos and is equipped with 4 huge nets that carry 45 tons of shrimp at sea.
-Measures 28 meters (98 feet!) in length and an output of 300 horsepower, the hull is wood.
-She has a huge freezer for storing shellfish.
-The bridge (control booth) is installed in the bow, to clear the stern for fishing and handling the product.

Check this out for info and update about Silvia Navarro upcoming novela, Lidia de Amor http://s1.zetaboards.com/formulaespectacular/topic/4278172/1/

Sylvia, thanks so much for your recap. I was only able to see the first few minutes so your work is really important to me (I'll be viewing this week when I return home next week). Your comment about Germy needing a reference letter as the reason for outing Fina as he left was my morning chuckle.

I also cried as Nata realized her real mother. It was so moving and looked exhausting. SN is quite the actress.

EJ - yes Roberta does seem to be limited in her insulting abilities but then again her acumen is most areas is sorely lacking.

You really captured it Sylvia. What a wonderful recap.

I noticed again that Berta was rubbing her heart at the confrontation scene with Selene. It looks pretty sure that it will be a heart attack that takes her out -- with maybe a deathbed conversion????????

So sorry that Berta overheard the part of the phone conversation where Nata told Carlos to thank Anibal. That spells trouble for him. Berta is sure to share that with Ughie (thanks for tha new name,)

Great lines tonight as usual:
-Sele agrees to tell all of this to Renata to prove what an extreme cock...roach Augustin is.
-- eponymous lothario
--Laz is over at Alfonsina’s instructing her to keep her boobies outta Melesio’s face.
--Miss SmileOfJaws
-- He goes jut-jaw and non-guapo,

German is an interesting character. He seems quite upright about business and loyalty to others -- except for Gema. He is a sleazy womanizer and yet it is as if that's is his one fatal flaw in an otherwise upright character. -- And he sure has been helpful as a plot-advancer.

Congrats, Carlos on the Baylor win.

I'm off in a few to Pennsylvania to spend New Year 's with my son & family.

Have a good New Year everyone.

Güera

One more thing before I hit I-81 South -- Let me once again thank the writers for wrapping up the two basic threads early. We now have a fast-paced adventure to watch for a week or so -- But we can watch knowing that Renata & Regina are together again and that Jeronimo & Renata are back together in spirit. No doubts just -- love which will have to out-wait a kidnapping and rescue to be consummated but which will sustain them both. So often at the end of a TN we the watchers know that the lovers are back in love -- but they don't know that about each other until the penultimate episode. Good show writers!

Bye til next week.

Güera

Fab recap Sylvia! I missed this one online and yesterday! :( But your recap really brought it to life with the details - like Roberta clacking down the stairs LOL! Too bad I missed that spicy confrontation; I would have rewindx2 as well!!

So, they are on to Roberta being the mole for Fina. But they have no idea she is also the mole for Augie. Aaaarrrrgh!

Audrey

Another original Sylvia brand recap! Mah-velous. Copyright Sharkbait Productions, Inc. 2011!

Sylvia, your title made me think we were going to revisit the discussion of the many benefits that maggots bring. Alas.

Almost scary how quickly the writers are gathering the loose ends, though. As long as we can savor the justice that shall surely be meted unto Agustin, Fina, Roberta, etc. And it almost looks like the final episode, for once, may not be all about a boda.

The boat scene and the previews of Agustin pulling a sword, Jeronimo in a wet suit and Renata enjoying some shrimp sushi suggest that derring will be done and buckles will be swashed.

Sylvia, great recap with all the wonderful Sharkbait insight and humor.

Wow, this thing is heating up faster than an Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn bag.

With the particulars becoming widely known about Ughie, he is becoming as well regarded as Adolf Eichmann in 1962. (I remember an article in Mad Magazine from that time with him pictured with his signature scowl, and under his picture they wrote, "Did you ever feel that the whole world is against you?")

Since Ughie has traded in his round edged, bent tip epee for a saber, it sure looks like there will be swordplay in his downfall. A suggestion: Ughie attacks Jero, who defends himself with a non-lethal rod he picks up. Nata, seeing the danger finds a skindiver's spear gun, cocks it, and skewers Ughie through the chest and impalls him on a wooden door where he swings back and forth. Nata and Jero embrace, and with the dying Ughie watching, Nata asks Jero what they should name their baby. Jero says "I don't care, anything but Sue. . .or Augustin."

David

Is it bad that I was looking at my watch and calculating in my head the latest we could leave the aquarium and downtown Atlanta in order to get back to the burbs in time, making it through rush hour traffic, to get back in time to watch the show?

I'm not ashamed and I'm not sorry I did it, because I love this episode and the recap. I will rewatch it when I get home this weekend for sure.

Amazing as always Sylvia! I'm getting all choked up again just reading the recap. What and episode.

"telenoveladom’s sweetest scenes ever". Wasn't it? Went through quite a few kleenex last night. I don't know how SN does it, but when she finally broke down and her reaction, holy smoke.

And on top of all her good news, the Ughie news just keeps piling up on what a cretin he really was. It's amazing this joker thinks he can just take Nata away ( ah, what happens to your business??) and she would still fall for him. He is beyond delusional.

I have to say, I thought Berta was absolutely hysterical last night. That "estupida" has to have become an inside joke on the set. When she stormed off after the Selene scene and threw out one more "estupida" from upstairs, I just cracked up. I think that was a total ad lib as it seemed to catch the others off guard too.

By those previews, seems Jero gets recovered pretty fast. Face is still messed up, but hair looked good and that wet suit was rather flattering. There will be a sword fight in there somewhere. What I do worry about still is Anibal--hopefully Ughie doesn't do anything to him before he hits the high seas.

Oh, and congrats Carlos. Couple of us have bowl wins so far (Purdue too).

Ray, thank you for the info about Lidia de Amor, however the link didn't seem to have anything to do with it. I guess we will just have to wait and see what comes around in 2012.

daisynjay, I've seen some outtakes from CME and Jessica Coch (Roberta) looked like quite the little jokester. I wouldn't be surprised if she throws out the occasional Estupida to see if she can crack the others up.

Vivi, you are too funny! However as I recall the Atlanta aquarium is wonderful.

David, I'd say Augustin is about as popular as Adolf Eichmann right now. And he should take a clue from that story, you can run but you can not hide. I like your version of the ending, very 007.

Mike, gross! I had forgotten about the maggots...until now. And don't write off the final boda just yet.

Audrey, it would be terrible if they never reveal that Berta is Augi's mole. Surely Renata will figure it out.

Güera, uh oh for Anibal. I totally missed that. Now I'm worried for him.

Karen, that reference letter is cynical HR background coming out I guess. As Güera points out, his mash-up of ethics and morals seems confusing, yet he has definitely advanced the plot.

David, my compliments. The swinging wooden door is exquisite.

Sylvia- it is a wonderful aquarium, but I had visited before and this time there were just way too many people and strollers to be able to properly appreciate the sea life.

Wow indeed Cap'n! I need to take some lessons from you about how to do a brilliantly funny and thorough recap at lightening speed! Yes, the Mother and Child Reunion was well worth waiting for. Sylvia played it just right with that prolonged period of numbing shock followed by emotion so strong it just fairly boiled over causing her to sob and gasp and then the screech and tears and hugs, pulling back to gaze in love and wonderment and hugging again. Oh, it was all warm and fuzzy and tear-jerky. Don't ya love it!

Do they have to do a kidnapping? I guess they figure we won't watch a couple of days of just love and hugs and flash forwards of cute cheruby babies being born to all our couples. I hope they don't take the eevil up to the last hour. . .but they probably will. Oh well. Great show, great recap! Thank you, Sylvia, your recaps ROCK!! Off to do stuff, will read comments later.

Lila

What an enjoyable read, and I love the title.

So many clever lines today...

"what an extreme cock...roach Augustin is"

"Ooooh oooh hoo..the theme song agrees that this is a brilliant plan."

"Wow, this thing is heating up faster than an Orville Redenbacher microwave popcorn bag."

"...derring will be done and buckles will be swashed."

I love it.

For people who are totally onto Roberta, the Good Guys Gang is still a little slow. Why aren't they GPS tracking her phone and car? Or having someone follow her?

I seem to recall that I dreamed up a shark demise for Ughie months ago. Do dreams come true?

Judy...Anon#1 is back and watching UFCS and has been asking about you on that thread. I'm not sure if you're reading that one so I thought I'd let you know here. WE aren't living in a telenovela; we can communicate and pass on messages!

OT, but does anyone know if cell phone connectivity is as good in Mexico as we're being led to believe in this show? Ditto the "internets"? Thinking about Jero Skypeing from Greater Downtown Ensenada.

J and JB, He's ba-a-a-a-ack.

But back to CME - Julia yes indeed you did recommend that Ughie (your nickname) should become a chum (pun intended) to the local shark population. I'm not sure what kind of sharks live around Ensenada but with all that fish life I'm sure there are hundreds of man, snake and ugly rat-eaters. I think your dream might very well come true.

Mike, I added a Mexico option to my phone and never had a problem phoning from Tijuana or Ensenada. I think in the populated areas the coverage is fine. I get the worst cell coverage of all time in Cupertino, California, home of Apple Computer. Weird.

Dear Lila, you don't need to take lessons from anyone. You are a natural.

Sylvia:

Thanks so much for the info on the boat (ship?)??? I wonder why they chose to film on a shrimp boat? The smell! Ay yi yi!

Vivi, I loved the heroic efforts you made to get home from the aquarium and see Cuando. Boy was it worth it, no?

One thing I savored last night was Gonzo being so angry with Roberta and not believing a word that she said. It was nice to see realization dawn in his sleepy brown eyes.

Berta has been lying and gloating for so long that the hubris anvil is now balancing very delicately above her head. Somehow I think Adriana/Matias or Hons/Cons will come along and pull the pin out so that it all comes crashing down on her little noggin. Guera, maybe the stress of the truth will cause La Estupida to have that long-awaited heart attack.

EJ

Sylvia - this was charming, as usual. Aside from all the great lines and laughs you gave us, the best gift in this and your other recaps is your exuberance.

You write like we feel! It was such an exciting night and your energy seemed to transport our study group to a local cantina where we were sharing pitchers of margaritas and whooping it up over all the great scenes in this episode. Thanks for the amistad.

Of course had we been in a group setting (off-line) there would have been high-decibeled laughter when Roberta did her "Estupida" from upstairs. That was hysterical.

Daisy - I think you are right that her tag line must be an inside joke and she ad-libbed that. Now, that's when Jessica's smile would have been beautiful! On Roberta, it's disgusting.

Also, Robey - I wonder if your episode/end date calculations are off because they could be counting the last two hours as one episode. That is how they are re-playing it on Saturday, according to our Daisy. So, maybe the Gran Finale is one show split into Thurs and Fri.

I guess we needn't have worried about a last minute rushed reunion between Regina y Regina Jr. That was so wonderful. Every bit as touching as we'd dreamed. BOTH women played it to the max. Regina looked down-right washed out from emotional exhaustion when she was on the phone with Ines.

We know the boat fight won't be until Jero's bruises are gone, so we've got a while on that. I bet our own Cap'n/Swashbuckler is going to dress up in her pirate outfit and eat her pirate cake that night! Looks exciting.

I think Jero is going to end up with 4 children at the end of this show: Marina's two, Renata's one, and Anibal.

Vivi - that is so funny. Of course we understand you getting antsy about leaving the aquarium, and it was very acceptable behavior to keep looking at your watch and clearing your throat, and tapping your toe. You can go to Atlanta again next Christmas, but there is only one fin semanas of CME. lol

Thanks again, Sylvia. Ahhhhhhhh good times.

Wow Sylvia...another fabulous quote. I think you've increased my IQ these past few weeks (or just mitigated the brain cell leakage that seems to come at my age). Anyway, appreciate the wisdom and the culture.

Of course you're still my naughty little Sylvia with your "cock...roach" quips. Don't ever change, amiga.

Also, appreciated your research and link to the boat used. You're a whiz on the internet, I must say.

Like everyone else, I was just blown away by the stellar writing and acting during the slow realization scene between Renata and her true mother. Simply fantastic. If this were a Hollywood film, Navarro would be up for an Oscar.

Julia...so Anonymous #1 is back, eh? Well, he was a big fan of the actress playing Rebeca so it makes sense.

Sylvia thank you so much for the fun recap and the info on the boat, it's no wonder you are the captain!

I thought the scene when Renata finds out the truth was excellent, as always, Silvia was perfect,

The make up on Jero on these episodes has been hard to see, I gotta give the production props on that.

And some info on Lidia de Amor:

-The production team of CME will be behind it (producer, writers and director).

-It was said that this was gonna be a remake of Pura Sangre, a very successful novela of Televisa of the 80's, but the writers will mix it with a Spanish telenovela called "Luna Negra".

-Silvia has the lead and Sebastián Rulli had been previously signaled as the galán but now the galán will be Cristian de la Fuente (Renato in CZ2009) and Rulli will stay in line for Carla Estrada's novela.

-Luis Roberto Guzmán (Diego in Alborada) will play the villain. If they follow Pura Sangre, he should be the husband of Silvia's character.

Fernanda Castillo (Luisa in Teresa) will play Silvia's best friend.

-Florencia de Saracho (second Adri in CME) will play a girl in love with de la Fuente, but her character is good, not evil(my guess is one of the workers in the Hacienda if we go by Pura Sangre).

-Adamari López and Lisset are both in the story, one will be a villain and the other will have a character for a small number of episodes (my guess is the other will play the sister of Silvia's character, no twins here).

- César Évora, Leticia Calderón, Olivia Bucio (Inés in CME), María Sorté (Yolanda in LVO) and Ricardo Guerra (Pepeto in Dinero) are also confirmed. I don't know about their characteres but one should be the mom, one should play the family's lawyer (my guess is Évora) and one should be the nana.

Jarocha

Jarocha, thank you for all that wonderful information. It's awesome. So it sounds like Silvia Navarro will likely not be in Carla Estrada's new telenovela. Any ideas who the female lead might be?

Silvia has said that she talked to Carla Estrada about the novela. She was being contemplated for the role in the present (the story is going to be divided in past and present) but she was older than what that character was supposed to be. So Carla was going to try younger actreses for the role and if she couldn't find a right fit she'd change the story to fit Silvia's age.

The main lead in the past, who will play the role of Antonieta Rivas Mercado, has always been for Cecilia Suárez. She is a famous and acclaimed movie actress over here and Estrada has been after her for this role since the begining because she would be a major draw for a different type of audience besides the one telenovelas usually have (and she is great) but they need to be conscientious of the time of filming because Suárez also has commitments in for a movie in Colombia and a show in HBO Latino.

Jarocha - Thanks for the info! I know a lot of you are old hat at this, but I am curious to see how our minds adapt to SN being someone other than our beloved Renata. It's a good thing we'll have a break between CME and Lidia. Do we have an approximate air date on that yet? Do they play first in Mexico, then the U.S.?

Taking advantage of my son before he left, took all the christmas decorations down and stored. Always makes me sad...and then I read your info Jarocha! Cheered me up immediately. Too bad about Sebastian, after Teresa, I would love to see him and Sylvia work together, but Cristian is a good sub. And Cesar...that voice always makes me happy. Definitely excited about this one.

Anyone have good scoop on the TN taking CME's place? Is it a ratings winner in Mexico, etc. I really prefer the 7:00 pm EST slot on TN's, so I'm hoping it's good.

Is El Talismán replacing CME? It's a Venevision/Univision production, not Televisa, so it hasn't already aired in México, I don't think. I'm looking forward to it.

I hate taking the Christmas decorations down. It makes January so bleak. I feel like we need a big festive holiday at the beginning of February to perk things back up. Something involving a big festival and dancing, or maybe a big winter carnival type thing.

I'm all for that Julia! We could use a cheery holiday about that time--NE Ohio can get rather bleak in early Feb. (And I admit to NOT being a fan of Valentine's day.)

The place looks so empty now and the poor kitty gets so upset when "her" tree is taken down. She sleeps under it all holiday. I'm not her favorite person right now....

Rosemary:

Julia is right: Televisa's productions are always shown first in Mexico, Univision's will be shown first in the US. Since Lidia has yet to start production and will start airing in Mexico in a couple of months the US will probably get it at the end of 2012 or start of 2013. Maybe that will be enough time to see Silvia in a new role :).

Does anyone remember what Renata said to Roberta during the Selene confrontation? It's when Roberta said "This is ridiculous" and then Renata said "No, what is ridiculous is jamas ???? nunca ???? mi hermana". Anyone catch that?

Word verification: recyc - I am hoping everyone will try to recycle more in 2010 as part of their New Year's Resolution.

Julia and DaisynJay: OT

Add a "me too" to the list of those hating to take down Holiday decorations. The house looks pretty bare.

It's not that cold here in No Cal, just grey and bleak. Oh, well, perhaps we'll see Jero perk up and lose some of those bruises tonight. That'll give my mood a lift.

Sylvia- Spot on. I almost cried again reading about the Regina-Renata scene. Much more realistic crying, which is never really pretty.

Loved Adri's little smile when Renata was saying she didn't care about the money, only finding her husband. So very different than Roberta as Adri was very aware of.

A sword? Augie's going to kidnap with a sword? A gun might be more practical, but you got to give him style points. Unless he actual gets Jero with it in which case throw him overboard. Let him feed the fishys, make them nice and fat, and serve them in some fish tacos. Um, eww. Nevermind.

Just stopping by.

Sylvia, I knew you lived in California, but ... Cupertino!!

You're just down the road from me. I live in Palo Alto. We also have rotten cell phone reception here. Is this a conspiracy to get us to give up on phones and buy iPads?

I miss all you Univisión regulars.

Elna June, nice to see you're doing recaps that get applause!

Jarocha, you mentioned a remake of Pura Sangre. I thought Mañana es Para Siempre was a remake of that. Are they doing another so quickly?

Novelera, Cupertino is where I grew up. I'm even closer to you now, I live in Mountain View! We are quite literally next door neighbors.

R la O, when the sisters were arguing Renata called Roberta shameless and self-serving. Then Roberta said something to the effect that at least she's not as goody-goody and ridiculous as Renata. Renata said maybe she is ridiculous but she would never have done that (what Berta did) to her own sister.

Kelly, I like how Adri is really taking the lead in sticking it to Roberta. But she would wouldn't she? First she is Renata's best friend, second Berta tricked Matias into marriage and he is the man Adri has been in love with. Adri has been very goal-oriented about taking Berta down.

OK, I'm of to watch tonight's episode. It should be good!!

Novelera: No, this is another telenovela made by Televisa in 1985. It's different from the Colombian novela.
