Cuando Me Enamoro #158 Thursday 12/1/11 So Here We Are In The Tijuana Jail*

*The Kingston Trio (anyone remember them?)

As always, if I missed something important or got a scene or detail wrong, please weigh in. Thank you. The finance stuff having to do with Roberta is still rather unclear to me.

Sadly, Chema died last night, and tonight the grieving Hons/Cons family arrives home and are surprised by the mewling of an infant. Hons is predictably irked and gets on Con’s case. Again. But wait, there is a note! Honorio angrily reads: “Please excuse me for imposing on you!! Please don’t be mad but I had an emergency!! I’ll be back in a few days!! I couldn’t think of anyone better than you to take care of Amaparito!! Thank you!!! Corinna!!!!” Hons pitches a fit and hurls the note down. Cons tells him to chill but he asks what was that woman thinking, leaving the baby there not knowing when they would return home? (Dude’s got a point.)  Cons tries to justify but Hons stands firm. How irresponsible!! Cons, firmly in denial, coos at the baby girl.

Berta is doing a laptop background search on Germy and wife. She reads that Gema is “one of the few women entrepreneurs and millionaires in the country. Heiress of a great empire, she married Germy despite his being 10 years her junior, turning both into hugely successful entrepreneurs.” Her face when she reads Germy is younger than Gema is priceless. She smirks and says she knew there was something fishy (un gato encerrado) going on with old Germy and he didn’t marry Gema for her pretty face. She bets he has no intention of divorcing...at least that’s what Germy thinks, bwahahahaha!

Over at La Bonita Lazaro and Kari are getting married by Padre Severino. I love how these two refuse to wait for anyone and anything. Our favorite romantic song plays in the background, everyone is all smiles, and Laz lets out a huge sigh of relief and of course his signature victory whoop of joy when Padre is done. Nata toasts to them, a beautiful example of perseverance, PATIENCE, and love. Nata grabs a bouquet of flowers out of a vase so Kari can toss it. Mati tells her cuñada, “Here I am!!” and ruh roh...Prissbutt catches the bouquet! A collective “drat” escapes the crowd but Nata, the perfect hostess, applauds the catch. Pay no attention to Pris, the crowd demands a beso and Kari and Laz comply with gusto. I’ll bet the temperature in the Valle de Guadalupe goes up a few degrees tonight, woohoo!! I’m getting warm just thinking about it.

Meanwhile Jero, white teeth gleaming in the dark, tries to keep warm by snuggling under his blankie and thinking of Renata.

Cut to another lonely soul alone with her thoughts. It’s Maritata of course, whining about the love she feels for Jero, so strong, so great. She thought Saul was the most important love of her life but compared to Jero it’s so tiny (meaning the love she feels, ahem). Oh why couldn’t she have met Jero earlier in her life, before Jero met HER, RENATA? Gah! Give it a rest girlie.

Let’s leave Doctora Dreary and get back to the party. Anibal and Alison flirt and talk about whom Ali might someday marry. Prince Charming (El Principe Azul) only exists in fairy tales so Ali just wants someone who will make her happy and make her laugh. They conclude by smearing each others' faces with cake; they almost forget they are not alone. Cute.

Laz and Kari thank Nata from the bottom of their hearts. Nata gets a bit over-excited and supposes they can’t wait to consummate the marriage, heh heh, then backpedals as Padre S feigns shock. Kari cracks up at Nata’s lusty glee and Laz says what Nata means to say is that they can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together. He quickly excuses them from the conversation so they can sneak off to...spend the rest of their lives together of course.

Padre sees the two young folk and Renata explains they are Manuela’s nieta and Augie’s kid, this latter piece of data shocks PS.

Antonio approaches and comments on the bitterness that must have led up to such a happy ending for Laz and Kari. PS says at least Alvaro is safely in jail and can no longer harm anyone else. Renata stuffs her face with cookies and rolls her eyes at such an anvil-laden comment. Dang, those must be some yummy props because she can’t seem to get enough. I wonder what they are?

Nata tells Tony that tomorrow she’s going to Tijuana to visit NastyN to give him money to tell the truth and get Jero out of jail. She asks Tony will he accompany her?  She asks him to keep it confidential. Only she, Jero, Carlos and now he know. He tells her Regina instructed him to keep an eye out for her and Nata basks in this, saying she can understand Gonzo and Jero caring for her, but Regina...well her love and care is more than she got from her real mother.

Anibal bids adieu to Manuela and wants to take Ali aside for a private goodbye. “Don’t leave the room”, Manuela sternly admonishes. He takes Ali’s hand, tells her she’s very pretty and gives her a pink rose. They plan to meet up tomorrow. Ani reveals to Ali that he doesn’t feel comfortable with Augustin, especially with the way he acts toward Renata. Augie is the one who told her Jero is in jail and he knew perfectly well Jero didn’t want her to know. Ani’s mother warned him about Augie and Ani doesn’t know if he can trust him. Alison doesn’t really seem to care much about Anibal’s problems, she just wants him to stick around so she doesn’t get bored. (I paraphrased a bit at the end.)

Wedding night at last!! Laz carries Kari over the threshold to their love nest filled with flowers and candles. He huskily whispers that he thinks this will be an unforgettable night.  He kisses her forehead, her nose, her lips, calls her his wife, and starts to undress her. Kari can’t wipe the teary smile off her face and frankly, neither can I. “Te amo,” she silently mouths to him. Let’s give these two the privacy for which they have waited a lifetime. Sigh. Rewind.

Tony tells Nata he would do anything for her. She says the same thing and actually he has a favor to ask her. He has this idea to fingerprint all the kids in the parish in case they get lost or stolen. Nata thinks it’s a great, great idea and can identify completely. She agrees to let herself get fingerprinted as an example to the children. Who knew Antonio could be so clever? Frankly I’m astounded.

Anibal is back at Cruz sin Amor and goes into Augi’s office. Daddy Dearest asks the kid did no one ever teach him to knock? (What a rude jerk.) Ani says not much to report from the party, Laz and Kari got married and Renata threw a dinner party, she’s very generous and the workers like her a lot. Augi doesn’t get why Nata would do this for workers. After Ani leaves Augustin juts his jaw and asks “Renata how is it possible you prefer to be with these people rather than with me?” Maybe because you are a snobby, controlling, devious wet blanket? Oh, and a sadistic murderer too. Oh, and that windbreaker.

Next day Nata and Tony are at the Tijuana jail. Dr. DreadfulShouldBeDeadful drools on the money that Nata passes to him and says he’s not turning back (echarse atrás) now. Nata tells him he’d better not or she’ll take the money back. “Are you threatening me?” he asks. Nope, not a threat just a warning she says. Tony councils NastyN that this is a good opportunity for him to help his fellow man (projimo) by just telling the truth. Nasty doesn't quite compute this and asks about Karina. Nata tells him the truth, Laz and Kari got married last night and Padre S gave them his blessing. No puede ser!! Yes puede ser, says Nata, Kari deserves happiness. Tony tells NastyN to learn from his own experience. He did bad things and hurt a woman he loved, but he has now found peace in the Lord’s service. Maybe Nesme could do the same. Good luck with than one Tony.

Carlos visits Jero to cheer him up with the Laz/Kari wedding and party chisme. They discuss that Nata and Tony are at that moment working on Nesme to get him to tell the truth and declare Jero innocent.

Prissbutt is at the pharmacy buying something special, saying with it they’ll see if Mati’s curse is really over. She’ll get Mati out of the way and Prissbutt will end up marrying her Charlie.

Saul arrives with gifts for the babies, cute little clothes. Mari whimpers it’s the first gifts her babies have gotten. He asks if she’s thought about his proposal and she says it’s still all so sudden (tan repentino). He explains it’s part of his rehab, to ask forgiveness of those he’s hurt. Maritata says “Dude, it’s your process, not mine.” Good answer! Are there still brains in there? He says true, but now his dream is for them to rebuild what they had together. Tata’s not looking quite on board with this plan.

Gonzo, still on his honeymoon, gets a call from Matias. Gonzo sadly relates to his bride that Chema passed away practically right at the opening of his restaurant. Lots of tears and crying about dying too young. I’m trying to feel bad but honestly, the view is fabulous and I can’t take my eyes off the vista. Good choice in honeymoon locations.

Oh dear, I spoke to soon, because now my view is of Chema’s memorial. They are all wearing white, nice touch. Papa Ben scatters his son’s ashes around their special tree, the sad song plays, and Adri, Matias and Julieta cry and reminisce. I guess Hons and Cons are stuck taking care of the baby.

Dr. StillWearingTheBadToupee gives his statement. He says he tried to operate on Rafael but he’d lost a lot of blood. Augustin Dunant told him to dispense with the autopsy to avoid having to deal with problems. He admits having drunk with Augustin earlier in the night. Then he admits to stealing the vine cutting and he explains why. Time passes. The Comandante is calm but his sergeant is having conniptions in the background. I think NastyN says only he and Dunant stole the cutting, Ezequiel had nothing to do with it. NastyN goes on to say Augustin put a hit out on him. The Comandante asks a bunch of questions about NastyN pretending to be dead. What was the prison director’s relationship, how much did they pay him, why did he do it? We don’t hear the answers.

Augustin is on the phone playing with his balls. The crystal ones on his desk that is. He yells at some guy at the jail that he’d better complicate matters so Jero doesn’t get out of there any time soon. The jail lackey says the only way is for some doctor (the prison doc?) not to change his statement but he thinks it’s too late. Augie hisses he’d better figure out a way because in addition to the charges they’ll accuse him of falsifying a statement which is a federal crime. He hisses that he doesn’t care who he has to bribe or how far he has to go, Jero is not getting out of jail!

Nata prays to the Virgencita that Jero gets out of jail soon. Take that Augustin.

Augi molests his Renacer En Ti poster and gleefully tells Jero he’s not going to win this time. He’ll leave no stone unturned and most assuredly this story is going to end with Renata and Augustin together. Too bad Jero won’t be around to see it.

Coni calls Ines at the center to say she’s not feeling well and can’t come to work. Liar. Ines whines she needs help what with Regina gone and all. Amparito cries and blows Coni's cover. Coni says it’s the TV but Ines doesn’t believe her for a minute.

Over at Empresas Monterubbio Hons is whinging to Matias about his little house guest. Worst of all, nobody at the center knows about Coni’s dealings with Corina and the baby. Because of her personal involvement she’s breaking the rules of the Regina Center. Oh man, that wall behind Matias is making me dizzy. Matias says he sure hopes this woman comes home and takes her baby before Gonza and Regina get back.

The three crazy people in white (yes I do think the doc is crazier than BSCBlanca and Malafina) pay Corina for a job well done. She assures them Coni loves the baby like her own and cranky old Hons doesn’t like sharing his wife. Corina, somehow managing to speak through the huge wad of gum in her mouth, promises to disguise herself, cut her hair the way she wants to, and go far away. Blanca and Fina cackle that there’s nothing better than vengeance. It’s marvelous, no? Yo witches, I'm thinking that the sizzling hot amor between Laz and Kari might be better than vengeance. Those cookies at the party?  Probably better than vengeance. A bottle of La Bonita wine? Yep, better than vengeance. But I digress.

Roberta calls the bank I guess, tells them she is Gonzo’s daughter working at EM, and her daddy who is on his honeymoon has requested she call and have her signature registered so she can be a proxy for him. I think that’s what she said, all this finance stuff confuses me.

At LaB Nata is inexplicably going through some photos in Jero’s office. I think they have to do with Regina. How odd, she finds a birth certificate but before she opens it Manuela enters to tell her the truck is ready. Manuela says she’ll straighten up so Renata can run off and help Antonio. Manuela reads the certificate, it is for Roberta Gamba Alvarez.

Jero’s still behind bars and now he’s driving himself crazy asking an invisible Roberta how she could supplant Renata with with proof of DNA? He should have known what she was capable of after accusing Renata of being with Rafael. He doesn’t think Roberta is intelligent enough to pull off a complex DNA switcheroo.

Back at LaB the Prissbutt doctors Mi Charlie’s thermos with her Love Potion Numero Nueve, smirking that it’s for his own good and hers too.

Roberta is somewhere, the bank maybe? And I’m still not sure exactly what’s going on, but Berta hands the nice girl a check and assures her it’s the same bank (as EM?). Nice girl says no problem then, the deposit remains firm and Roberta can have her money whenever she wants it. I’m kind of getting the idea that somehow the company will cover any checks she needs to write from the account. Anyway, Roberta grins and thought bubbles that was easier than she thought.

Avances: Marina gushes that Jero is free! Then she gets to see him run to Renata, hahaha!! Saul is all goggle-eyed when our lusty heroine Nata dips Jero and lays a big one on him. Augustin’s not happy.

echarse atrás = to back out, to turn back
El Principe Azul = Prince Charming (Lit. the blue prince)
Hay un gato encerrado - there is something fishy (lit. there is a locked-up cat)
no es una amenaza, es una advertencia
projimo = fellow man, neighbor
ramo = bouquet
repentino = sudden

THis is so fabulous, thank you. I am too sleepy to read the whole thing but got drawn into it again anyway. I;ll come back and enjoy the whole thing later but wanted to leave a note of my gratitude. It reads so beautifully.

I have an updated photo. It features Elna June (left) and me (right). We finally got to meet last night and we spent a delightful evening talking, laughing and enjoying the holiday decorations and people-watching in Union Square. As animated and intelligent as her comments are, they are nothing compared to the real package. She is now the fifth Caray Caray friend I have been lucky enough to actually meet. How nice that she is local so we can hook up again in the future.

Thank you Cheryl! You're a sweetheart for checking in tonight. It's always gratifying to get a comment before I hit the sack.

Oh Sylvia, as always it was a pleasure to read one of your recaps. But it was even more wonderful to see a picture of you AND of Elna June. What a wonderful photo! You ladies are so lovely and it looks like you had a great time. What a great community this is. :)

I'm glad that at least one person (Nata) understood that Kari and Laz might want some alone time considering they've waited at least 10 years to be together, and unlike so many of the other characters did not jump into the sack with each other until they were good and married. And what a lovely scene it was. Kari even let the girls loose, and Laz looked appreciative of that low cut dress.

I also liked Chema's all white small memorial service with the spreading of the ashes at the foot of the tree. Although with that wind, it looked like most of it went up the nostrils of his friends.

Doc Natsy not only told the truth about the fake death, but told the truth about everything-- all his dirty dealings with Augie! See what wonders some money amongst tortillas, and a chat from Antonio, can produce. Nata's plan wasn't so crazy after all.

I think the significance of the photos in the box is that they were photos of Roberta. That's why Nata was so confused because Gina had told her they were photos of Nata. And of course Berta's original birth certificate is significant for two reasons. 1)It will be exactly like the one Gina has for baby Regina because the girls were born in the same hospital, and it will also have baby Berta's fingerprints (which will match grown up Berta); and 2) It proves that Berta never had another name. That's the name she was born with. Who will look in the box next? Maybe Jero since it's in his office and he gets out of jail next episode.

Someone, please stuff one of those knitted baby sweaters in Marina's mouth. I can't believe we have to watch her whining about Jero happily greeting his WIFE tonight.

With the weekend looming can Fridays possibly get any better?? Absolutely - Sylvia, your outstanding recap is proof positive.

I so enjoy the heartfelt emotion you infuse into your summaries: "Honorio angrily reads" and "Hons pitches a fit" (with many exclamation points in between) had me smiling away as did "Meanwhile Jero, white teeth gleaming in the dark, tries to keep warm by snuggling under his blankie..." Excellent!

However, "Yo witches, I'm thinking that the sizzling hot amor between Laz and Kari might be better than vengeance. Those cookies at the party? Probably better than vengeance. A bottle of La Bonita wine? Yep, better than vengeance. But I digress" was priceless.

I reveled in the sheer joy of Laz and Kari's wedding. I thought they were so tender, I felt like shedding a tear myself. So glad they were finally able to: "..sneak off to spend the rest of their lives together of course." Yes, one fairy tale romance that did indeed come true.

Agree with you and Vivi that the white outfits at Chema's scattering of ashes was a lovely touch.

I DO remember the Kingston Trio! Loved the picture of you and EJ as well. Vocabulary was great.

Happy Friday all!

Diana

Sylvia, you are a wonder as always. "Love Potion Numero Nueve" made me smile this morning. How great that you go to meet another Caray-mate in person! That's a lovely picture to remember what I'm sure was a lovely time. :)

In other news, (I hate having to do this again) but I have to ask for one last bailout on recapping this week. Once I finally get done with these long term projects, I'll be free and clear. Any takers? Muchisimas gracias!

Amy

You never disappoint Sylvia. This was a gem.

I loved the wedding blessing. It had a golden look -- Laz & Kari dressed in coordinating gold tones and glowing. Lovely.

I also loved the scene with the spreading of the ashes -- everyone dressed in white. Such a contrast with the roomful of black clad attendees at Zeke's velorio.

Kudos for the new name for our irritating oenologist -- Prissbutt -- wonderful.

I almost snorted my coffee all over the computer at this one "Blanca and Fina cackle that there’s nothing better than vengeance. It’s marvelous, no? Yo witches, I'm thinking that the sizzling hot amor between Laz and Kari might be better than vengeance. Those cookies at the party?  Probably better than vengeance. A bottle of La Bonita wine? Yep, better than vengeance. But I digress."

Alnother favorite moment -Maritata says “Dude, it’s your process, not mine.” Good answer. Are there still some brains in there? --So much better than her moments of whinging that she didn't meet Jero before he met HER. That sneer at the thought of Renata really turned me off.

Oh yeah-- thanks for the Kingston Trio reference. I'll be singing them all morning.

Güera

Great recap Sylvia, great snark! And I love the new picture! How fun!

My fave was your rif on "nothing better than vengeance". Those two viejas amargadas are incapable of experiencing/appreciating the blessings of life, so vengeance is all they have left to "enjoy". Poor Roberta, she inherited the amargada disease.

Prissbutt - perfect!

I didn't follow that closely, but I thought in heard Roberta on the phone telling a customer to make the check for payment due out in her name. I thought this was the general (dumb) scam.

Audrey

Oh Sylvia..that picture of you and EJ is marvelous. You are both beautiful and radiant. So festive with the lights in the background. You look like a Christmas elf and EJ's face is so sweet and loving...just what you would want in a therapist,no? I will be smiling all day thinking of you two, (and humming the Kingston Trio song and feeling l8 again.

Great recap..Prissbutt. Hands down winner.
But also liked Doctora Dreary and DocDreadfulshouldbeDeadful.

I'm so weary of all this evil plotting, disease and death. Let's get to an all 'round Happy Ending soon.

I did enjoy getting to hear the Spanish version of 12-step talk..."hacer enmiendas"=make amends) Always a good thing to know....and to know how to do.

Ripping sassy recap as always...your "tiny" Saul and "playing with his balls" double entendres were pure Sylvia!

Beautiful picture and absolutely hysterical recap Sylvia. You never fail to delight.

"Augustin is on the phone playing with his balls. The crystal ones on his desk that is." Laptops are so resilent at times since a gush of coffee splayed all over the screen. Priceless....can't wait for tonight to see the jerks total reaction when he learns Jero is out of jail. And thankfully, Dr. IHaveSeenTheLight came through and then some. Like to see Auggie spend a few nights in the slammer now. He'll need a extra-heavy windbreaker.

I'm hating this whole Pris plot. So what is she going to do, poison "Charlie" and call it the curse. Now we know this chick belongs in one of those white gowns along with the other two witches. How Shakespearean - our three witches together.

Can I just say Mexico needs to look at their financial procedures for corporations? No way would Berta be able to pull that in the U.S. Embezzlers should be able to have a field day there if this is any way factual. Gees.

And I have to say, I loved Nata in this whole episode, but especially as she continued to chow down on those little pastries. (Had me salivating). There's been a couple instances in this TN where her love of food and her digging into it are shown, but just loved watching her REALLY eating those things and enjoying them...so realistic!

My guess--Dr. OneNote will accept Saul's proposal after she sees Jero/Nata's reunion.

Sylvia, such a funny recap. Loved every bit of it. Great picture of you and Elna June. You are indeed two lovely ladies!

I liked the whole wedding scene, and Nata's pushing for joy attitude through the whole thing.

I liked your new name "Prissbutt" up until she started using chemicals to get her way. I would like to see you now drop the "r."

David

Cap'n--still steady at the helm, I see. You have been so good being the Melinama of CME and still have enough left over to deliver great recaps. Pure enjoyment. Oh, and loved the pictures.

Note, the Padre did not perform a real wedding service last night. He gave the happy couple a very long blessing. Remember, they couldn't marry in the church because of Kari's divorce and the Ain'tDeadYetDoc.

They are only married by the civil--in the lady judge's office that afternoon. I have a strong feeling that if the Doc kicks the bucket, knowing Kari, she will want to be married by the church and will get her dream wedding--without the kidnapping.

Loved the avances better than anything--the apoplectic look on Augie's face when he learns Jero is out of jail is priceless.

Yep, Carlos and Mati are going to get sick, but not die???? I don't trust Prissybut, nor her concotion. OTOH, as an oneologist, she does know how to mix stuff. Would love to see it backfire on her.

What can we say about Marina....

Good morning everyone! Thank you for all your wonderful comments.

A little personal background, when I was growing up the worst insult my sister and I could call each other was Prissbutt. As adults, just saying the word makes us melt into giggles. You can imagine my joy at being able to use this insult in such an appropriate manner.

David, I will be happy to drop the "r" at your suggestion.

Upon reflection I realize we didn't see a sign of Laz and Kari after they decided to spend the rest of their lives together. They've been hunkered down in the love nest for a couple of days now. How delightful.

Vivi, I almost made a wisecrack of the wind and the ashes. I noted that Papa Ben was trying very hard to keep things low to the ground.

Thanks Vivi for some clarification. Yes, I think they must have been pics of Berta, evidence that Jeronimo must be compiling.

And Audrey, now that you mention it I do recall Berta saying an invoice was due. It totally does not make sense that she could get signature power for a major corporation, even if she is the daughter of the owner.

Audrey, school comes first so no problem. I'll be at a friend's soccer game tonight but if, when I get back, nobody has been able to do it I will at least post a header. If anyone is up for doing a guest recaplet feel free to jump in.

NOK, I forgot to say your list is delightful! We are an incredibly irreverent bunch. Woe to any character who annoys us.

Also, thank you for the clarification on the blessing that Padre S gave. Not a wedding, they did that down at the government office. I think for Kari the blessing was as, if not more, important. It was very sweet of Nata to throw the party. Augustin simply does not get her at all.

Capn'

A masterful recap by you, our capitan. Here is my first favorite 1/2 paragraph..

"She smirks and says she knew there was something fishy (un gato encerrado) going on with old Germy and he didn’t marry Gema for her pretty face".

A perfect sentence, perfectly capturing our dumb-as-a box-of-rocks anti heroine. Roberta is just hopeless. I can't see how to redeem her, Cap'n. She is sooo delighted at the success of her petty schemes (she can write a check) and all along, Mommy dearest is the puppetmaster, arranging everything to her satisfaction— behind the curtain. End of rant.

Altogether a beautifully written essay capturing the action in our ongoing teleplay. Some call that a recap.

Doffing my sailor's hat to the Cap'n,

EJ

Sylvia, thanks for your great recap and sharing your pic with EJ. You both look radiant and beautiful (and I might add a bit naughty but in a good way).

ITA w/you Sylvia about Tony's machination to get Renata's fingerprints; it was brilliant and I was shocked.

The funeral was beautiful but I'm with Vivi in that I was surprised the wind didn't make them all gray in addition to sneezy.

NOK, thanks for another great list!

Love the lists. Keep it up.

Sylvia, how do I see the picture that everyone is raving about? Is it the tiny one at the left when the comment box is open? Is there a way to see aversion large enough to distinguish the (so I hear) lovely faces?

Güera

Güera, some of us have uploaded photos or pictures onto our blogger profile. You should see Cheryl in her red hat in her comment, EJ and me in my comments, Karen and Vivi in Vivi's comments, JudyB in hers, etc. If you click onto the picture it will take you to my blogger profile, then click "View Full Size" under the photo and it will expand again. Let me know if you have a problem, some browsers have difficulty loading the pictures.

Vivi:

I so loved the Kari and Laz scenes. And I am not even a romantic! DH was sitting mesmerized int front of the TV as this fairytale played out. When the two got back to their place, as they began to undress, he gasped, "Do you suppose this is the first time they have made love"?

How refreshing it was to see the directors, writers and actors capture the intimate beauty of such a (rare, television) moment. It was just lovely; and as a middle aged broad, I love that neither Kari nor Laz are spring chickens.

JudyB, ITA about some happy endings. This one was a welcome relief.

Cap'n and David:
Still LOL about P(r)isbutt.
What did that wench put in the THERMOS????

Any ideas?

EJ

NOK:

Ab fab list. I can't stop laughing at the wonderfully wicked monikers.

EJ

EJ, I think she must have put something in that will make him violently ill for a short period of time, yet not cause lasting damage. Syrup of Ipecac comes to mind. I recall as a child there was that distinctive small brown bottle of the stuff stashed away in case one of accidentally swallowed poison. The ominous specter of that little brown bottle that guaranteed vomiting was enough to keep anything foreign out of our mouths. Anyway, that what I thought when P(r)issbutt made the purchase.

I'm not even sure you can still get Ipecac in any U.S. pharmacies these days. Not sure about Mexico.

Sylvia: Awesome recap!!! Here is a boatload of some of my fav lines:

“She thought Saul was the most important love of her life but compared to Jero it’s so tiny (meaning the love she feels, ahem).” (You wicked, wicked girl!)

“Laz says what Nata means to say is that they can’t wait to spend the rest of their lives together. He quickly excuses them from the conversation so they can sneak off to...spend the rest of their lives together of course.”

“Let’s give these two the privacy for which they have waited a lifetime. Sigh. Rewind.” (I was pleasantly surprised that they had such a long love scene with these supporting characters).

“Who knew Antonio could be so clever? Frankly I’m astounded.”

“Good answer! Are there still brains in there?”

“Augustin is on the phone playing with his balls. The crystal ones on his desk that is.” (WWG).

“Yo witches, I'm thinking that the sizzling hot amor between Laz and Kari might be better than vengeance. Those cookies at the party? Probably better than vengeance. A bottle of La Bonita wine? Yep, better than vengeance. But I digress.” (All I can say is that it’s a good thing my bosses haven’t come into the office yet.)

“Marina gushes that Jero is free! Then she gets to see him run to Renata, hahaha!!” (and I have to say I’m tired of this delusional woman. Bring back, competent, intelligent Marina, please.)

Love that Anibal is not being taken in my Auggie---so far.

I noticed in the background of the scenes where Antonio and Nata were talking that Mati was not too happy. Really, new spare girl, it would have been nice if you had left the bouquet toss to the locals.

If Hon is so adamant about the baby, then take her from Coni and deliver her to the center yourself.

So PrissWitch (with a capital “B”) is doing the standard TN/soap opera drugging thing. Well, at least it’s Ultimas Semanas and we don’t to endure months and months of the fallout.

Vivi: “I also liked Chema's all white small memorial service with the spreading of the ashes at the foot of the tree. Although with that wind, it looked like most of it went up the nostrils of his friends.” It thought so, too. Ewww!

Daisynjay: “My guess--Dr. OneNote will accept Saul's proposal after she sees Jero/Nata's reunion.” I was thinking the same thing. I’ve never seen someone lose their intelligence with such lightning quick speed. One minute she’s our favorite doctor, the next, she’s our least favorite whiny ass.

EJ: Essay is right.

Robey

Sylvia,

I certainly didn't mean to trample hallowed family traditions with my suggestion.

If "prissbutt" is the worst thing you and your sister could think of to call each other, and if she has half your wit and snark, then you must have grown up in a remarkable household.

David

I didn't even know that there are blogger profiles. Where do I find them?

Guera- For those of us who are bloggers, there's a little 'B' that appears infront of our name. If you click on our names, our profiles will pop up.

David, I'm sure we called each other worse, we bickered every day, but for some reason prissbutt became the ultimate insult. Sis and I are best friends now, and rarely call each other prissbutt.

Allow me a moment to catch up with a thank you to Marta. Poor Marta who drew the short straw and had to do the Chema Death re-cap. You did a great job on this sad episode.

And to top it all off with Vivi's FEET story!

Now back in the moment:

Thank you, Sylvia, for your hard work, unabashed humor and sharing the picture of you and EJ! What a highlight for you to meet in person!

You know you had us laughing through your whole re-cap, but I especially loved:
"white teeth gleaming in the dark"
"but compared to Jero it's so tiny" and
"Sigh. Rewind."

Renata really was going down on those cookies, wasn't she? Did you hear her even choke for a sec? lol I remember telling my WalMart-register-shutting-down- episode in which I came home and ate icecream out of the box and commented that Renata would not do that. Then EJ said that we never know what she does when the cameras are off. I dare say we just got a glimpse of that. She just kept eating and eating and several scenes later when Anibal was telling Alison goodbye, Renata was in the background still eating and washing it all down with wine. Loved it! She's human, like us!

Kari's dress was so cute. She actually did not look dowdy. Alfonsina was there looking pretty and happy in a purple dress, and she even got in line to catch the bouquet. When P(r)issybutt caught it there were so many facial expressions in that moment that I had to rewind to take in her's, Mati's, Laz's and Carlos'. That was a catty moment. Too bad Mati didn't get it, and Alfi was THIS CLOSE to catching it in her cleavage.

The additive could have been Syrup of Ipecac, or perhaps there is some medication that Carlos is allergic to that P(r)iss knows about.

Diana - yesterday you mentioned how unsympathetic and cold Hon is with this whole baby thing. I am hoping he will be left alone with her and bond and agree that they can adopt a baby. Then come to find out maybe Ampara wasn't kidnapped, but her mother actually sold her, so the courts award guardianship/adoption rights to Hon and Con.

How in the world Roberta got on the signature card is bizarre. I noticed they used the "other" banker (I guess there are now two in DF). They couldn't use the regular one as she would be suspicious. German must be the mole! Again... I hope Gema drops his arse.

NOK!! Your new list! It's amazing. When the names come out one at a time, they are funny, but putting them in a list, they border on vicious! Us? Sweet us? Like Sylvia says "Woe to any character who annoys us." lol

Rosemary la Otra

R la O, good idea about an allergic reaction for 'Charlie'. I know if someone put mango juice in something I drank my lips would puff up like daffy duck and I would NOT be happy. She got it at the drugstore so it could be some sort of extract.

Thanks for capturing the episode spectacularly. I won't quote all the best lines again, but I enjoyed them as much as everyone else did.

Definitely beanie time with Roberta's scheme. No legitimate company would make the check out to anyone other than the entity they actually owed the money to. ESPECIALLY without orders from someone official besides the person who wants the check in her name and says this is okay because she's the owner's daughter.

What a great wedding reception. Aside from Hissy Prissy's interference. Being me, though, when they went to the bedroom I was just worried about the fire danger and hoped they would move those candles away from the bed before the clothes dropped and the bedspread went sliding around. You don't want that kind of fire on your wedding night!

Hasn't poor Carlos suffered enough? I dread seeing what Pris is going to do to him and call "love."

I started reading this early this morning but only got about halfway through and haven't been able to get back to it until this afternoon. Of course it's another one of your masterpieces, Sylvia, as already noted by everyone else. I especially enjoyed the wry naughty bits.

That box that Regina gave Nata probably has enough clues for anyone who will take the time to sift through them to figure out the truth about the two girls.

Just that birth certificate should trigger strong suspicion. It says that Roberta (actually naming the name), not Renata, was born to Josefina Gamboa... at least that's what I recall Manuela reading out loud.

I don't see a lot of folks rushing to take over for Amy tonight, so if you guys can stand a Carlos 'cap this soon after the last, I'll be willing to do the honors again tonight. Might not get posted until tomorrow afternoon, though.

Carlos

Yay Carlos! Lookign forward to it.

Hooray!!! Thank you Carlos.

Yeah, Carlos! I am so glad you stepped up. Your recap will worth the wait.
Gracias, amigo.

EJ

Hey all- Kat (aka 5 Ft. Latina) posted a link to a music competition she was just in. She and her duet partner placed 4th. As many of you know, Kat has a lovely singing voice (like our other singing Caraymate Hombre de Misterio). She's in the red top: http://youtu.be/r-UZYQhmows

Hwllo everyone: Ok, this is my first time commenting but I am so, so grateful to have found this site. I don't speak Spanish but a few months ago someone at work was watching the Spanish version of Ugly Betty in the lunch room. I started watching and she would translate bits and pieces - well enough for me to catch on. Could not help it, I fell in love with Juan Solar and then she told me he was going to be in a new novela starting soon. I resisted - wondering how I would keep up since I would have no translator. So with unblinking eyeballs glued to the tv (could not afford to miss one expression or gesture) I bravely ventured into the land of novela - where I have heard others go before me who didn't speak the language either. I would beg anyone who might have watched the night before to tell me what happened in this or that scene - before long I knew that nasty Roberta or Fina were up to no good, even though I didn't know exactly what I knew I would find someone who I could bribe with half a sandwich to tell me all. In no time I began to recognize phrases and a word or two here and there and now I can 'no te procupes' with the best of them. And then, miracle of miracles, I found your site and I needed no one! My sandwiches were my own. Now granted I'm not even close to being ready to be a recapper, BUT how wonderful it has been to find this site and know at last, what's going and am no longer at the mercy of people who TEVOED the eposide and aren't going to watch until who knows when. I want to thank you all for your wonderful recaps. Thank you thank you thank you! You saved my life. WEll, you know what I mean.

Now if only I could tell MariTATAS that a one-desker does not a relationship make and put a sock in it!

Love you all,

Mary

Oh my gosh Mary! Welcome!!! You have stumbled onto a group of like-minded crazy people. Please comment more often. I am glad you get to keep your whole lunch now. In fact, you should just take that sandwich and plunck down in front of your laptop and comment each afternoon. :)

Mary, WELCOME amiga!!! How delightful that you have shared with us that you, too, are hooked on CME and have enjoyed the recaps and comments. I'm glad we could help you keep your sandwiches to yourself. You sound like you have a great sense of humor and I hope you comment again.

Vivi, thank you for sharing that link. OMG Kat and her friend are amazing!! I know she is a super talented actress but I didn't know she has such a lovely voice.

Welcome, Mary! How lovely that you have not only discovered the joys of telenovela addiction, but also of this site! When I first discovered Caray, Caray, I knew almost no Spanish, but I just HAD to learn. These shows suck you in fast!

Also, you are hilarious. Please chime in often!

@Vivi..you're right..Kat has a marvelous rich voice. Loved it that she got the giggles towards the end. That's pure Kat.

@Mary...Welcome to CarayCaray. Before long, you'll know more Spanish that you ever thought possible. Just put the Spanish closed captions on and you can read the words while you hear them. With a "diccionario" close by, you'll be well on your way.

Dear Mary - Welcome to our world of Oz or Narnia or Carayland... whatever we call this alternate universe. Please keep commenting! I hope you haven't been offended by some of the digs we've given to Juan Soler's character. Really, we all (or most of us) just love him too!

Wow! I really enjoyed Kat's YouTube! We should sell her C.D. (or "album" for Lila) in our Caray Store. She is so talented!

Carlos - I am looking forward to your re-cap tomorrow! Thanks for stepping up, Mr. Funny Guy.

R la O

Mary: Welcome. My experience was close to yours, only I luckily work with someone who watches the TNs on a regular basis so I didn't have to wait to discuss. One time he missed a crucial ep of a previous TN we were watchgin and I went websurfing to see if I could get a translation of a text message one character sent another and found this site--and the translation. It's the best!!!! This is my 3rd TN and the first one that my friend isn't also watching so having Caray Caray is especially crucial now for the translations and always crucial for the fun, irreverent, snarky, but always respectful, recaps and coments.

Robey

OMG - thank you everyone for being so welcoming - didn't expect it at all.

And yes, while many times I have been saddened by the not so nice remarks about Mi Jero - well not that he didn't deserve them - but I promise not to hold it against anyone because you are all so sweet and nice and funny and fun. So what are we going to watch next and what will I do when this one is over and I no longer get to see Mi Jero. :( I loved Chema too. Poor Chema - I cried like a baby when he died. Bye for now and I sincerely thank you all again for your lovely and warm welcome.

Love,

Mary

Dear Mary:
So happy you found us! Come by often. This a very sweet community and very funny as well. No haters but a lot of winking snark flies around, especially at characters whose behavior we find disturbing.

I am with Vivi—eat the whole sandwich but I have one word of caution...never, ever read a Caray recap or comments with a mouth full of coffee, tea or food. When you hang around Caray hilarity will ensue and we cannot be responsible for humor-caused damage to computers. Hahahaha

Again, welcome. I loved Chema too, sob.
Sending you a box of virtual Kleenex,

Elna June (EJ)

Mary: I followed actors here, too. My friend got me hooked on MEPS and I followed Lucero and Fernando Colunga to STuD and then Silvia Navarro from MEPS to CME. My favorite is the actor who played Ezekiel. He was in my first TN and I just loved his character. I don't know which TN to watch next. I may wait for SN's next.

Definitely follow EJ's advice re: food and drink. It's very good advice.

Robey

Sylvia, you are like Santa with your bag of gifts. Kingston Trio, rippin funny snark, Prisbutt for our growing vocabulary of snarky names and the picture of you and Elna June. What a wonderful recap.

Welcome to Mary. I was off hanging the photo show at the Fair Grounds. Tomorrow is the opening and Iptasam and Elia have promised to come see their picture hanging in a gallery. The holiday season has already begun here so I am glad when I can see the 5PM showing of Cuando then catch the recap either really late or the next morning.

I loved the white at the funeral, so clean and free feeling to send their dear Chema off to his ultimate freedom.

And I was wrong when I thought Roberta was getting her name on the checking account but in a way she did both: having the client put the check in her name and then tell the bank manager who can repeat this later that she will put the money in her name since it is practically the same as into the Empresa account. What an idiot but it makes me think the bank manager who is almost on to her duplicity isn't thinking clearly and I am going to pull my beautiful red beaded beanie right down tight on my head!

Hey Robey

I asked everyone what they were going to watch next and it seems like almost everyone will give whatever replaces CME a chance. Please stick around too! We need your funnybone in the mix!

I usually blow through commercials because I watch my recording of CME, but I did notice one for La Talisman. Have they been advertising that for long? Could that be our replacement?

Word verifiction: ducte - What Gonzalo should have done when the bullets were flying.

R la O

They've been promoting El Talismán for awhile...that and one other one, I can't recall the name, something about couldn't love. I assume one of them will replace CME, and the other LFdD.

I think El Talismán looks good. I may or may not be basing that 95% on those shots of Aaron Diaz shirtless on a horse.

In between all the Chia pet commercials and a cute little Pomeranian dressed like an elf (Abeja from Una Familia Con Suerte?), I've seen both Talisman and La Que No Podia Amar gearing up to start. It will be interesting to see which ends up at 7:00 and which ends up at 9:00. Aaron Diaz shirtless, that's one positive for El Talisman. On a horse, that would be two positives.

Aye Carumba! I just googled Aaron Diaz! (Insert the female version of a Lazaro scream here). I vote for a shirtless HIM on a horse. Although it will be interesting to see Matias with hair in the other one.

R la O

Here is the shirtless, horse shot from Talisman: http://bit.ly/ti576G

Hubba, hubba!

OMG, that picture made me gasp. Thank you Vivi.

Now we know what we can look at while we wait for Carlos' re-cap. Thank you, Vivi!

And he can sing!!
Telesa

Holy Charisma! Thanks, Rosemary LO Vivi, Sylvia I think I will be in a swoon al weekend. What a consolation prize for Juan Soler and Sylvia Navarro going away. WOW. Let's set out really big magnets so we can pull Talisman into the CME slot.

You all just made me laugh so hard. The other people at the bus stop think I'm loca.

Good evening, Sylvia and friends. Haven't read comments yet but just finished the recap. I know everybody else have quoted your many quips, let me just say it was smooth, funny and so conversational, I felt like I was watching with you!! I haven't watched Friday yet, gonna go back and hit the comments which are always a total treat. Thank you, Cap'n!

Lila

There. Just finished comments. Luuuuv the list, NOK!!!

Welcome, Mary! Your funny, heartfelt comment was like hearing somebody come forward to testify and get saved in church! I don't mean any disrespect but there was that same honesty and joyous welcome from the Caray "congregation." Welcome, sister!

Ahhh. Next I'll watch Friday and look forward to a cap from Doc Carlos!

Lila (hmmm word verification: rackwar. . .is that what's coming up between Prisbutt and Mati?)

Talisman: Well, I so look forward to seeing Rafael Novoa again. That man is hot! For me the sexiest TN galán with deep set dark eyes and wonderfully expressive eyebrows. I hope he does well in this. He's a very talented actor.

Audrey
