Cuando Me Enamoro #177 Friday 12/30/11 The end is near but our villains refuse to give up without a fight.

They pulled a fast one on us, queridos! This seems like a sleepy little episode but then they pulled the rug right out from under us. Vámonos!

Reviewing from yesterday, Lazaro and Carlos find Jero at Sabina's home. They waste no time in getting on the phone with Nata. Jero rouses at the sound of her voice and he thinks of all the good times they've shared together. Nata cries that Jero has to survive for her sake and for the sake of their baby. "I love you and all I want is to be near you," Jero mutters.

Melesio the foreman/bearded hitman hides in the bushes as the police grill hacienda workers at Cruz de Desamor. The feds eventually question Mel and warn him about withholding information.

Augie sits on a boat and sharpens his swords. Overcompensating for something, Augie? He muses that no one can accuse him of any crime while in international waters. Then he slices a watermelon in half to prove how manly he is.

Jero stirs and opens his eyes. Nata is overcome with tears of joy as she promises to fly out immediately so she can stay by his side. Gonzo, Regina, and Adriana get a little teary-eyed themselves at the good news and there's hugs all around. Nata thanks the Virgin for sparing Jero's life.

Jero sits up in confusion. He has no memory of how he ended up bleedy in the bottom of a riverbank. Carlos prods Jero to try harder and suddenly the memories come flooding back. Jero met with Saul at a restaurant in the pueblo. Saul tricked Jero into going with him to the church, where Melesio and a gang of thugs jumped Jero. They chloroformed him, drove him out to the country, and beat him senseless.

Lazaro thinks that the workers at Augie's hacienda must believe that Jero is dead. He suggests they keep it a secret that Jero is still alive just in case they might try to finish the job.

Back in La Ciudad, Honorio and Matias have a conference call with Gonzo. Fina keeps slipping through their fingers but they still have hope of catching her. Gonzo and Regina are prepared to go to the bank so that they can finalize the inheritance but she is far too anxious to worry about that now. Jero is her priority. They work it out that Adriana and Nata will catch the first plane available and Regina and Gonzo will leave the next morning. "This nightmare is almost over and soon the sun will shine on all of us." Gonzo promises. ("Esta pesadilla está a punto de terminar, pronto el sol brillará para todos").

Matilde and Manuela are overjoyed to hear that Jero was found alive. It's a miracle! Karina rushes in to tell the ladies about another miracle: she's pregnant! Qué milagro! A baby in the hacienda that isn't Jero's!

Alfonsina pours the charm on for Melesio and wheedles information out of him. He admits to having dumped Jero's body down the riverbank.

Nata and Adriana pack their bags and Regina runs back upstairs to grab some paperwork Nata forgot. Berta strolls in and the ladies keep mum about where they're going. Nata and Berta exchange some tense words but Nata wins this round. "I believe in destiny and I believe everyone receives what they deserve." ("Creo en el destino y yo creo que cada quien recibe lo que se merece"). Adriana chimes in and calls Berta trashy (Esa basura apesta - That garbage stinks).

Regina runs into Berta and asks her to come to the bank with Gonzo so they can finalize the inheritance. Berta can't wait to sign on the dotted line so she can get outta there.

Gonzo, Honorio, and Matias plot how to bring about Fina's downfall. If their plan fails, Berta and Fina will have won the game. Hopefully the chips will fall in their favor. (La moneda está en el aire y ojalá caiga a nuestro favor).

Berta warns Augie about Nata suddenly leaving the house. Plus, Nata knows that she and he were lovers. Augie juts his jaw about it.

Nata calls Marina, who was assisting with a surgery despite her high-risk pregnancy. Nata passes along the news that Jero is alive. Marina cries tears of relief but she probably cries when they get her order right at Burger King.

Jero's looking a bit better now that he's sitting up and eating soup. He swears he will go to the police and describe the guys who jumped him. Unfortunately, his thoughts are all muddled. He keeps thinking that Nata is the one expecting twins and not Marina. Carlos explains that Marina is expecting twins but Nata is pregnant too. Jero gets teary eyed at the happy news.

Carlos says that Nata knew about her pregnancy on the day of the wedding but when Jero didn't show up, she thought he had run off with Marina. Jero is horrified. "No! She thought I abandoned her? Why would she think that?!" Carlos explains with flashbacks that Saul told everyone at the hacienda that Jero and Marina got on a flight together. Then they found Jero's car at the airport and the passenger list on the plane confirmed that Jero was on the flight.

Augie sits restlessly on his boat and creepily sighs about how much he desires Nata.

At the only bank in Mexico, Luciana officiates the paperwork that certifies that Berta is actually Regina Junior. Berta falls right into Gonzo and Regi's trap. She can barely hide her greed over the check. "Wow! I'm a millionaire!" Berta beams. She wants to buy an apartment and lots of other things. Too bad Berta can't touch the money until after her next birthday. "You weren't in a hurry to have it were you?" Regi asks. Berta squirms and gives an insincere "No".

Fina meets a guy in a darkly lit hallway and he gives her a gun. "Now is your time," Fina thinks. "Now is my final revenge."

Alfonsina tells the hacienda ladies what Melesio told her. She has to do what she has to do to find out the truth about Ezequiel's death.

Anibal and Allison chat as they drive to the airport. She doesn't want him to leave. Ani promises he will stay to be with her. D'aww, they're adorable.

Padre and Antonio get the good news about Jero. Padre isn't thrilled to hear that Nata's returning. She's pregnant by Jero too and this is all too "modern" for his sensibilities.

Berta and Fina congregate in a public restroom. Berta shows off the check and cackles about rolling in the dough. They plan to go to Europe together but Berta warns Fina that their relationship is going to change. Berta will not allow her mother to run her life anymore. "That money has given you such security." Fina smirks. "I learned it from you." Oh, touche, Berta.

Anibal and Allison greet Nata and Adriana at the airport. A nearby car watches as Nata and Adri get in Ani's truck. Meanwhile, Jero asks Lazaro and Carlos to help him clean up before Nata arrives.

Augie gets his evil laugh on as he vows to make Jero insane from jealousy.

Carlos calls Nata while she's on the road and he hands the phone over to Jero. They have nothing but lovely, mushy things to say to each other. Jero gets choked up as he asks Nata if they're going to be parents together. Nata confirms that it's true just in time for a black pick-up truck to swerve in front of Anibal. Everyone screams as Anibal is forced to pull the truck off the road.

Chaos erupts. Thugs start shooting at Anibal's truck. They pull Nata out at gunpoint, chloroform her, and throw her in their truck. A thug drags Anibal out of the driver's seat and knocks him to the ground. Adriana and Allison cower in the backseat as the thug shoots toward where Anibal fell to the ground. The kidnappers take off in the truck with Nata, leaving Adri, Allison, and (hopefully) Anibal behind.

Jero desperately tries to call Nata back. He heard a woman screaming and then the call dropped. Oh, no. We have to wait until Monday to find out what happens next.

Avances for the Gran Final on Friday Jan 6th: "You are not my daughter," Regina says to Berta. "You have no idea how much I hate her!" Berta cries. Nata pleads with Augie to let her go. Nata cries by Marina's bedside in a hospital (uh oh), Fina wears a purple wig and points a gun at Nata. Get ready for this one, amigos!

Amy, wow you got this up quickly! I think all of us are rarin' to go these days, no? You are so right about the writers pulling a fast on us tonight. The ending shocked the heck out of me.

Hee, I love your comment about Augie overcompensating. True!!

Also liked: "she probably cries when they get her order right at Burger King." Oh what happened to our sensible Marina? She's going to do something stupid.

But my favorite line: "Qué milagro! A baby in the hacienda that isn't Jero's!" Hahahaha!!! Amy you're killing me. That is so funny.

I think Melesio also admitted to Alfonsina that Augustin is on a boat. Did she agree to meet him later? If so, does she really thing he will tell her what he did to Ezequiel? That's kind of a stretch.

Anyway, our episode skipped along happily until POW! Right in the kisser. The previews were all over the map too.

Amy thank you for your terrific recap and for posting so quickly.

Feliz año nuevo a todos!

Amy thanks for your great recap. My goodness the villains just keep coming. Augie's delusion is amazing - Jero being jealous of him would imply Renata cared for Augie (NOT). As Roberta would say Estupido.

ITA w/Sylvia - your best line (one of many) was a baby at LaB what wasn't Jero's!

The previews do seem to range; if they are all in one episode we'd be in for quite a night.

Happy New Year everyone!

Great opening paragraph to resume the action last night, Amy. I bet you write excellent term papers.

Sylvia and I (Karen too!) picked out the same gems.... Augie overcompensating, que milagro!, a baby in the hacienda that isn't Jero's and the speculation that Marina even cries when they get her order right at Burger King.

Alas, the refound nobility of Marina and the great way she and Renata are cooperating seems to be foreshadowing a saintly death and triplets for Renata and Jero. Good thing they have a lot of help at the hacienda!; normally triplets would take the bloom off a young marriage real fast.

Happy New Year to one and all...good health and prosperity to everyone.

Fabulous Amy!! I second Sylvia's sentiments on some of the hysterical liners. That Burger King line was a killer.

I missed a chunk of the beginning, but doesn't seem like I missed too much last night. The calm before the storm apparently. They sort of ruined the surprise of the ending by showing it in the previews the other day. In fact they are doing that with next week too...but hey, it's still fun and we don't know how our fearsome twosome of Fina and Auggie will meet their end.

I have my suspicions on Berta's end after that preview. And I think we got it right on Marina too...too bad. (Watch, she'll be early and the babies will be big chubby cuties.)

Oh, and is anyone else hugging their "I heart Anibal" tees and hoping that gunman was a poor shot? Dang, they can't kill off our little hero in training!!

Try to check in later, but want to make sure to wish a very Happy New Year's to everyone!!!!

Amy - this was such a delightful read! Thank you!

Your zingers were awesome! Not only is Augie overcompensating for something, but so is whoever bought that HUGE white truck that Anibal was driving.

The Burger King comment was so funny and probably true.

And a baby in the hacienda that isn't Jero's. lol. Yay for Laz and Kari. Can I be the one to tell Dr.IrrelevantNow?

Jero's face looks so painful. That eye!

Cheryl - do you have any pulled pork or chopped liver comments you'd like to make?

I am not liking what I'm seeing for Marina's future. I was a little irked at her for wanting to return to La Bonita, although I think she and Renata would be great co-parents now, but how sad if she dies (taking the 8th and 9th wonders of the world with her) leaving Renata and Jero with 3 babies (and Anibal). Good thing Allison (Nanny of the Year who is so good at finding others to watch Luz) is staying put.

Daisy - a lot of what you missed in the beginning were just flashbacks and music. If you saw the second half, you didn't miss much at all.

I am confused about:
---Augie knows Jero is alive?
---the plan to trap Rob & Fina
---Is Roberta going to ask Renata for forgiveness? And she gives it?

I love to watch Adri's face in all the Roberta scenes. She is thoroughly amused and always has a good comeback like "esa basura apesta".

Thanks, Amy, for all the translations. The basura one should come in handly one day.

Amy:

This recap is so much fun.Thank you very much. I love this comment, "Augie sits on a boat and sharpens his swords. Overcompensating for something, Augie?"LOL!
and;
"He muses that no one can accuse him of any crime while in international waters".

OK,amigos, we have not suffered through a lot of stupid plot lines in this show, but GEEZ! Is Augustine planning on kidnapping Renata and becoming a man without a country trolling around offshore for the rest of his life—on a SHRIMP boat????!!! With his money, wouldn't he at least want a yacht of some sort? Where will he get an endless supply of new coats? Sylvia—how do you think fine wine would fare on a bouncy shrimp boat on the high seas? I don't see the smell of shrimp-past putting Renata in the mood for love, even in Augustin's wildest fantasies. I cannot stop laughing at this development...ROTFL

EJ

Thought I saw Anibal on the boat during the previews after Thurs ep.

Robey

Amy, thank you soooo much! You are right, they pulled the rug out from under us! My daughter and I were so shocked at the end. Now, I haven't read comments so forgive me for repeating or sounding like a copycat but MY GOSH have they killed Anibal? I can't see that thug missing, poor Anibal was lying right there on the ground! And I think they're going to kill off Marina. In my previews they show Marina in a hospital bed and Jero sobbing hysterically and being comforted by Renata. Many of us speculated about that, but when are they going to have time to do that? Hopefully, they'll kill Auggie off Monday. And is that a funeral where Renata is hugging Berta and Fina shoots -- who? I am tired of this demon, off her already!!

Thanks Amy! See you folks later to get your angle on this exciting and troubling finish!

Lila

Wow, It comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lion. What a fun recap, thanks so much AmyAzul. You did a wonderful job as usual. It must be nice to not have to juggle studies and high tone emotions on CME at the same time?

I am still enjoying watching the wick burn down on that bomb sitting on Roberta's lap. Her greed and ugliness were so icky in this. Even loves-everybody-Regina was making ugh face. Funny how they are drawing out the unmasking though. How has Empresas Monterubbio survived with this bunch of ineffective boobs all these years. At least Adriana is enjoying all the willcomeuppance.

RosemaryLA, I am sticking with the pre-cooked spiral cut ham slices for my sandwich (hero, hee hee) of choice.

Amy- Thanks so much for this fun recap. Ditto all the best lines everyone pulled out.

RlaO- Augie does NOT know Jero is alove. What he said is that Jero is rolling over in his grave with jealousy. Man, he has certainly lost ALL his marbles now with this kidnapping plot. Traveling around on a boat to other countries does make sense since he knows the cops in Mex are after him for Jero's disappearance, and there is no way that he'll allow himself to be put in prison. And if he's going, so is Nata! That was a crazy last few minutes to the episode.

Adri's faces and comments were great last night. Anyone catch the shocked look that came on her face when Nata told Marina to come on down to La Bonita to see Jero too. I think she's just as surprised by this "modern" arrangement as Padre Sev is. LOL! Too bad the previews make it look like Marina is not long for this world. I wish they would stop showing previews at this point. It ruins the surprise.

Happy 2012 everyone!!!

Thanks for the great recap Amy and for getting it up so soon. Talk about surprises at the end of this novela! I'm thinking the guys who hijacked Renata didn't really shoot Anibal unless it was in the leg because he is jefe's son. But then again, maybe they didn't know that. If he survives, will there be wedding bells for him and Alison?

Makes me sick that Marina might die. Is Marina having pregnancy complications because she wasn't showing at all when she went to Vegas with Nata? If the twins are preemies, that will be a drag for Jero and Nata to deal with.

I keep salivating over the demise of Roberta and can't imagine what that will be. And of course, I hope Augie suffocates from the smell of his unwashed windbreaker. Hopefully, Fina's newly purchased pistol will backfire into her brain and take her out.

Does anyone know yet if the cast will appear the following week on Don Francisco or some other talk show?

Augustin's comment that he can't be accused (or arrested) if he is in International Waters has been bugging me. I don't think he did his homework. I checked The Straight Dope and this is what I found:

Regarding sailing in International Waters: Every ship is subject to the jurisdiction of the country whose flag it flies. So are its occupants. And you can't just pick the flag of a country whose laws are most favorable to you, either. The LOSC says there must be a "genuine link" between the ship and the state [aka nation]. If you want to fly a country's flag, you have to ask the country's permission and provide it with your ship's "name and particulars."

Furthermore: Universal Jurisdiction. According to Henry Kissinger, "the doctrine of universal jurisdiction asserts that some crimes are so heinous that their perpetrators should not escape justice by invoking doctrines of sovereign immunity or the sacrosanct nature of national frontiers." Under the relevant treaties, any State [aka Nation] can board a ship on the high seas if the ship is suspected of piracy, transporting slaves, or broadcasting illegally.

We are such a smart study group we are quoting Henry Kissinger now? Yay us! Thanks Sylvia!

Robey - I saw what you saw in the previews. Whew.

I don't think I'm going to look at the previews any more. Vivi's right, they are giving too much away.

I'm off for a couple of days of being offline so I'll check in with you folks when I can.

Cheers!!!

R la O: not completely breathing a sigh of relief re: Anibal. Saw something else in those previews. Hoping it's just creative editing.

Highly anticipating the famous Laz yell when he finds out about Kari being pregnant!

Think I might skip the previews, too.

Robey

Amy, once again your wit sparkles. I love all the lines already mentioned and I especially liked this very vivid yet simple description of one of the scenes:

"Augie sits restlessly on his boat and creepily sighs about how much he desires Nata."

You captured it perfectly. It sent shivers up my spine.

About Alfonsina and Melesio... for fairly obvious reasons I watched this scene closely... Melesio didn't actually admit to doing anything to Jerry, but as Sylvia pointed out, he did admit that Augie was off at sea and he didn't think that he'd be coming back.

Alfie whined that if that where the case, she wouldn't be getting Zeke's salary as promised. Mel offered to remind Augie if he should happen to talk with him (Yeah, good luck with that, Alfie) and she did agree to join him for a drink later this evening, "¿Por qué no?" (I'm looking forward to that).

I'm not real clear on the inheritance. Robi received a check but she can't use the money until the day after her birthday? Did she get a post-dated check? I'm not clear on the details of what she can and cannot do with the money right now.

Gonzo did say that if they lost contact with Robi and Fina that the money would be lost. Things said like that usually turn out to be accurate predictions.

Augie seems to be getting a little unhinged. You ladies are more expert in such matters than I am, but I would not imagine that a cruise on a shrimp boat is every girl's romantic dream.

Carlos

Amy, another A+++ recap, thank you so much. There were so many great lines, but the "Burger King" was my favorite.

Cheryl, I will always picture Roberta with a bomb in her lap after your comment.

Augie did not impress me with his watermelon cutting skills. Heck, I can do that with my good kitchen knife. Poor thing, he is going to die of a heart attack when he sees Jero! If I were Natie, I would be insulted if someone kidnapped me and then took me to a shrimp boat for a lifetime cruise. Morning sickness is bad enough without the smell of dead shrimp. I have decided he must have some sort of physical defect since he always wears those cheap jacket. But lets face it, he is just cheap.

Adriana is a joy to watch, the faces and quips she makes are priceless.

I want Roberta to die a very painful death after all of the harm she has done. I think I would like to see Fina live the rest of her days in a manicomio after she goes loco when she realizes she has lost everything. Of course, no visitors allowed.

I want Carlos to go to Sabina's house for a 'salad treatment" for that limp that he still has.

I want everyone else to live happily ever after.

I want the entire Caray, Caray community to have a very Happy New Year!

Rosemary #1

I will join the group with boycotting the Avances. TMI!

For all the LFdD watchers- At least a shrimp boat is better than the chicken coop. I think. A yacht still would be more convincingly romantic. Jeronimo would've gotten a yacht.

Happy new year to a great bunch of people. Being snarky at home by myself wouldn't be nearly as much fun.

Kelly

Heard of a good way for Augie to meet his end- My Living Reef. He could help restore reefs and fish populations. Usually people are already dead and cremated before being made into, but I sure an exception could be made in this case.

Kelly

Alas, how dreary is New Year's Eve without Guy Lombardo and the Royal Canadian Orchestra on the TV set...

Amy, thanks - I really like your gift for wrapping it all up so neatly and completely.

- Agustin clearly has a wardrobe of swords and probably dreams of things like, oh I don't know, dirigibles and powerful red sports cars and steam locomotives entering tunnels. (What did I omit, Elna Jung?) Goofy ssaul (thanks, Cheryl, using "ssaul" as a common noun today) that Agustin is, sitting there sharpening the edge to hack a watermelon?? Give me a break. Hey, Gallagher was at least entertaining with his watermelon smashing.

- Marina "cries when they get her order right at Burger King." Brilliant, Amy.

-Roberta's check. Carlos, I didn't understand that scene well, either. Maybe Cheryl or DaisynJay can shed some light on that bit of high finance.

-Cap'n Sharkbait, thank you kindly for the info on law enforcement on the high seas. Very interesting.

-Melesio also deserves a painful and violent demise. Maybe not one rising to the level of what karma owes Agustin, Fina and Roberta but at least to the level of whatever comes to SSaul.

Happy New Year to all of you! We're supposed to be unseasonably warm (64) here tomorrow so I just might be able to get out the motorcycle. Great way to start the year.

Mike, I think the fingerprints that Berta so willingly provided will prove her undoing. There was a very smug look between Regina and Gonzo when she agreed to provide them. I hope they get confirmation quickly that Berta is not Regina's daughter. I think the bank is aware of the problem and will not cash the check when presented for payment. The bank probably also has a hold on the funds until after the birthday.

The thing I don't understand is why Regina and Gonzo didn't confront Berta without all of above. Hopefully, the ploy will help catch Fina.

Did Ssaul get stuck in the duct work at the airport? We haven't heard anything about him lately.

Rosemary #1

Mike: was flipping channels after midnight and found one the PBS stations playing clips of Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians. I also remember watching him on New Year Eve.

Robey

Robey- They already have Berta's prints and the confirmation that she is not Gina Jr. It was her prints that set this ball rolling in the first place. I don't think they have revealed to the audience exactly what the plan is, just like they didn't reveal what Laz planned with Alfie regarding Melesio. But it has something to do with luring Fina into the open and catching Berta red handed with her. But really what they should be doing is having someone following her now.

Sorry. That last comment was for Rosemary, not Robey. Happy New Year ladies!

Happy New Year, Everyone!

If the plan for giving Roberta the check was to draw out Fina, once again the police fail as Fina is able to bewilder everyone with a gaudy neon purple wig and blend in whatever gathering they are having and fire off a shot while huggin Roberta. Of course the hug and the shot don't have to be happening at the same time as they try to creatively edit the previews (which I agree STILL give too much away!). But maybe someone will recognize what is happening, knock Renata out of the way and Fina will shoot and kill Roberta thus beginning part one of an earthly infierno.

Maybe the scene at the bank was to get Roberta to show the intent to defraud... I dunno, not an abogado.

Happy 2012! I had the grocery store to myself this morning, so it's starting off on a nice foot.

About the Roberta shakedown:

I wonder if they (Gonzo, Regina, etc.) know that Roberta knows that she is not Regina's daughter. Or have they considered that perhaps Fina has duped her too?

I wonder if when Regina tells Roberta "tu no eres mi hija" like we saw in the previews, if she says it trying to feign disappointment or if she says it accusingly.

I also wonder at this point how much Regina realizes that Berta is playing her for a fool.

R la O

Hey R la O! Love me a nearly empty grocery store! I think Gonzo and Regina know Roberta knows she is not Regina's daughter and is Fina's accomplice but I don't think they know the depths of her betrayal nor how long she has been lying to them all. Like when Regina was told Roberta had been lovers with Uuggie Regina was really shocked and I don't think anybody has realized she continues to work with Uuggie, keeping him informed right up to the minute of all the goings on in the MR household and is actually an accomplice to Renata's kidnapping. I don't think anybody realizes that she hates Renata enough to wish her dead and cooperate with Fina (wittingly or unwittingly) to bring about her death. It looks for all the world like Roberta is holding Renata in place while Fina takes aim but even Roberta's not stupid enough to embrace someone who's in the cross hairs of a pistol. One thing's for sure. We'll find out next week!

Re: Berta and Nata hugging in previews. Looked to me like they were beginning to turn. I was thinking Fina gets her shot off as Berta has her back to her and she shoots her daughter. Maybe at the last minute Berta redeems herself and takes a bullet for Nata? Naaaaah!

Robey

Happy New Year's everyone!!

Loving all the great comments and speculations on how some of our "fav" characters will meet their end.

Robey, I have to agree with you on the Berta/Nata scene. It looks to me like they turn just as the Wonder in Purple fires. I don't think Berta would ever take a bullet for Nata, in fact she could be setting up her sister, but the irony would be she winds up getting bumped off...by her mother yet? Methinks it's a real possibility.

Augie-still convinved he dies by the sword. That's just been too symbolic with him thru this whole TN. I think to really tick him off in eternal damnation, bury him in a tee shirt and burn all his jackets. Should be a nice bonfire for a good weenie roast.

Fina--anyone have any good ideas?Usually an evil character has a
flaw or fear that goes with their downfall. Kind of stumped on Fina--she hates being poor but condemning her to a life in poverty--so not good enough. She likes to push people thru or over things--so maybe that's her demise too?

Oh, and Mike, as for that check, I think that's a total ruse to trap Berta and Fina. Banks, or corporations for the most part, will not post date checks with the premise of "don't cash until...".Our friendly bank manager probably agreed to it since she was aware of the whole Fina stealing money fiasco.
The idea is you write the check, you have the funds. In some cases I've heard lately, the bank cashed the check even when dated a day or two ahead.

Off for a day of football and watching the winds blow and snow to fall later today. (Storm warning in NE Ohio--oh joy.)

OK. Just watched my recording of Thursday's mom-daughter reveal. Wow! I couldn't fully appreciate it when I watched it at first because I was explaining to my fam what was going on in the scene. This time, I cried. Great acting from both women in that scene. I can't even really remember the equivalent mom-daughter reveal after 20+ years from TDA. I know there as a doll involved. But this slow realization, followed by uncontrollable sobbing and then happy tears, hugs and kisses (and a Gonzo sandwich) was so much more impactful and fun to watch.

Ok. Still watching Thurs episode. Just want to point out that although they really haven't given sufficient time to the anorexia story, when Manuela said something about curing Alison, Ani jumped in to say she will never be cured but can learn to control it with professional help. So the writers didn't completely go with a love cures all storyline for this.

Vivi: favorite parts of Thurs (possibly Fri) ep:

Nata calling Gina "Mama" for the first time and my all tlme fav, Nata hopping mad and telling Gina that Auggie was behind Jero's kidnapping and calls her "Mama" without even thinking and as if she'd done it all her life.

One of those eps Nata calls Fina "Fina". That must have been so satisfying for her.

Robey

I meant the Nata/Gina convo re: Auggie could have been in Friday's ep.

Robey

Good point Vivi...I too was happy when I heard that statement about anorexia not being "cured". Someone can be a recovered anorexic, just like a recovered alcoholic, but complacency is never indicated.

Daisy and Robey, I agree, I think Fina's going to accidentally shoot and kill Roberta, thus the beginning of an earthly infierno for Fina. Life in a Mexican prison cleaning disgusting toilets with a toothbrush knowing she killed her own daughter and that Regina Sr. and Jr. are living happily ever after in riches and love. . .but the rest of the world would not be safe since this "clever" demon can fool everybody with a simple wig or hat! Fina must die!!

It's gonna be a great week. I wish they would just hold the previews for the rest of the week, let us enjoy this wild ride though the speculating is fun!

Vivi - Don't miss Roberta's "Estupida" shout from the top of the stairs. lol. Priceless.

I loved this episode and have not deleted it yet. I replayed my favorite parts last night while fevered out with a rotten cold. Happy New Years Eve, no?

IF, and it is only an IF, Fina was capable of love, then her one love would be her daughter and stewing in a prison, toothbrush scrubbing toilets while her daughter is either dead or living happily with Regina would be a huge punishment. However, I don't think Fina loves anyone but Fina, so a nice roll down a cliff, a la Jero, after being bucked from Gitano would suffice.

How do you think she'll go out?

R la O

Just back from dinner with a good friend in town from Egypt for a few days. She's convinced me to go to Egypt in Feb instead of India! I was supposed to go last April, but then a little revolution happened. Must figure out a way to break it to my parents so that they won't worry too much. :)

RlaO- I would like to see Fina take a fall down those MR stairs and crack her be-wigged head open on one of those big stone balls. I would like to see Augie skewered on one of his many swords. I just don't want any of our good guys to do it.

I did catch that estupido that Berta let out at the top of the stairs. I think it's hilarious every time she says it, but that was one of the best. I am sure you guys are right that it became an inside joke on set. I'll have to look up the bloopers someone mentioned, just hope there are no spoilers (although I don't see how there could be more spoilers than in those TMI previews!).

Feel better RlaO!

Hmmm, let's see, how bout that chick Fina got into with -- the alpha b***ch in the hoosegow, remember? She'll shaft Fina with a rusty spoon or something and she'll slowly rot from the inside out: physiology matching psychology but she won't die: she'll just fester in her own pus year after year. . .

Vivi - How cool to be planning a trip to Egypt! "Little revolution" indeed. I wouldn't even know how to start planning a trip to Egypt. You go, Girl!

Vivi: my dream to go to India someday.

Robey

Word verification: farea. India and Egypt are farea away.

Robey and RlaO- I was in India a few years ago, and I have a ton of friends there. (I travelled around with a a Bollywood film crew. My friend's brother is a Bollywood director.) I had an amazing time. But my friend living in Egypt will only be there through June. That's why I've decided to go there now and likely will go to India to see friends in the fall or next winter. I just bought my ticket. Eeek! Fingers crossed that things remain relatively stable.

Well, I believe they are having their elections the month of February (it doesn't happen in just one day, like here), but I don't know if that would mean more chaos or more stability. Hopefully Tahrir Square will be calm enough to visit, especially after the Arab Spring. Were you there before? It would be interesting to see what the differences are now.

I am so excited for you!

R la O

RlaO- This will be my first Egypt trip and my first North Africa/Middle East trip. (Well, aside from Turkey, which is kind of in between Asia, Europe and the Middel East.) I'm so excited! I have been in southern, east and west Africa, all over Europe (east and west), India (but no other south or east Asian countries), New Zealand/Australia, and all over Latin Am/Carib. Have you been to Egypt? Other Caraymates? Any suggestions?

Wow Vivi, have a great trip to Egypt!

Vivi: I'm a big Bollywood fan. What is the name of your friend's director brother? I might know his work.

Rewatching scenes from Thurs ep and have a correction on one of my fav Nata moments: it was the revelation that Roberta and Auggie were lovers not that Auggie was responsible for Jero's disappearance when Nata called Gina "mama" so naturally.

This message is for Bollywood fangirl Robey:
Robey- My friend Leila’s brother is Samir Karnik. He is a young director, but has been the screenwriter, producer, and assistant director on a lot of films. Because he has worked with so many big name, older directors, and therefore so many big name stars, in his directorial debut he was able to get some major stars. This was the movie he was directing when I went to visit my friend Leila for a month in India some years back. Prepare to have your mind blown. The movie was called “Kyun! Ho Gaya Na” and it starred Aishwarya Rai, Vivek Oberoi, and Amitabh Bachchan!

When I landed in Mumbai, after 24 hours of travelling and layovers, I was met at the airport by someone from the movie studio who picked me up in the studio van. I was taken directly to the set in one of those huge hangers. After a whole day of travel, with no sleep, after having gone from winter in the U.S. to heat and humidity in Mumbai, I walked into a surreal world of a winter wonderland on the set. I thought I was hallucinating. All the extras and Vivek were dressed for winter, and the set was made to look like a Swiss ski chalet for a big song and dance fantasy sequence. There was no air conditioning, just giant fans that could only be turned on during the breaks in filming the high energy dance sequence. Vivek, although handsome, grows hair like a bear. His five o’clock shadow was more like an 11am, 2pm, 5pm shadow. They had to shave him every couple of hours to maintain consistency in his look. “Cut!!! Someone SHAVE Vivek!” LOL!

GOSSIP: The movie was filmed just after Ash had her huge public break-up with Salman Khan. It was big news at the time because Salman had basically gotten Ash thrown off her last film by coming on set and having a violent jealousy fit. While filming our movie, Ash and Vivek started having a fling. I and all the film crew were sworn to secrecy to protect Ash’s reputation and to keep the news from getting to crazy jealous Salman. Unfortunately, when we had to have half the hotel in Goa looking for Vivek early one morning because he had to be on set, and he was found in Ash’s room, well, even threats and bribes to the hotel workers did not keep the news of their hookup out of the press for much longer. It was yet another scandal for Ash and quite a lot of fun for me to be in the middle of. Just like a telenovela! (I swear I was not the leak!) :-)

About the number of episodes, I just looked at my tv schedule for week and it shows the finale on Friday being only an hour. It was a 2 hour finale in Mexico, so it looks like they are splitting Capitulo 181 into two 1-hour parts to stretch it out the whole week.

Ay yi yi Vivi..I'm sure your trip to Egypt will go well. But I'll be sending you good vibes)))))) por si acaso. Acquaintance of mine went last year just after the worst of it, visitingsome adventurous friends who were teaching in the American School there. No problems. They visited the street bazaars in the back alleys and she was amazed at the modestly shrouded ladies buying hot pink bras from street vendors. Be sure and go shopping in the back streets mi vida.

Vivi - Now I know who I can live vicariously through - YOU!

Your adventures are only dreams for most people. Good for you for going for it.

I have never been to Egypt, but we were getting our geneology done and I found out my great grandfather was born there. We thought he was Russian as that is where my grandfather was born, so I was thrilled to see the Egyptian connection.

Also, my son is the spitting image of the drawings you see of what King Tut probably looked like. One of his history teachers pointed it out to us. So, maybe you'll be hob-nobbing with some of my unknown cousins.

When I was on the phone for over an hour getting my XM radio re-activated, I was on with a sweet young man in Egypt. He was telling me one can live over there for one month on $300 American dollars. How long will you stay?

Good luck with telling the parents! Even at age 52 I still haven't told my mom that myfamily is going to Mazatlan over MLK Holiday. I know my mom will go on and on about beheadings. If you find a good way to drop it to your parents, let me know.

R la O

Vivi: short note since I'm sending this by my phone. Saw that VO/AR movie you mentioned. The movie she got thrown off of was Chalte Chalte with my fav male actor Shah Rukh Khan. Rani Mukerji replaced her. Not a big Ash fan, and I liked the movie, but I do think it would have been better with her. The feud between SRK and Salman Khan lasted for years. They made up not too long ago but then had another falling out. Lots of drama off the sets in that biz.

Robey

Oh My Gads, I don't know any of these people you are talking about. I did, however, vote for Anoop on American Idol. Does that count?

I better get googling Bollywood actors.

R la O: Bollywood movies are amazing, but an acquired taste for people used to Hollywood type movies. They're usually 2 1/2 to 3+ hours long with dancing and singing. The actors themselves don't usually sing. There are famous singers in the industry who dub for them.

Robey

Another piece of Bolly trivia. If you take the entire global movie viewing public, Shah Rukh Khan is the most popular star in the world.

Robey

RlaO- I'll have to tell you about my time in South Africa, and hanging out with Nelson Mandela and in Steve Biko's house sometime. I'm not kidding. I'll be in Egypt for 2 weeks.

Robey- I used to watch a lot of Bollywood films because so many of my friends are from India. But most of them have now returned to India, so I have not kept up with the Bollywood world or the movies in a long time.

Oh Vivi! Seriously? I used to wear my Stephen Biko shirt in college, and who doesn't love Nelson Mandela? He must top so many people's lists of "Who Would You Most Want to Meet?" And YOU have!

I really would love to hear/read about it. You can email me, but I bet everyone else is also anxious to savor your experience.

Is Biko's house a museum now or something?

What about pictures?

R la O

RlaO- One of my friends married Biko's youngest son. I went to the wedding, which took place in Biko's ancestral hometown. Mandela and his current wife were guests at the wedding, so I got to meet them. Since I'm a close friend, I was also invited to the naming ceremony (the bride is given a new name by the groom's family) which takes place with just the family at the groom's father's family's home-- the house that was Steve Biko's. I met and hung out with Biko's siblings and cousins, neices and nephews and did a road trip across the cape with his other sons with some of our friends. It was a fantastic trip!

Vivi: what amazing experiences you've had. I'm with R la O and would love to hear about them. I've also been off the Bollys for awhile. But I'm always thinking about them, Bolly soundtracks are practically the only music I listen to.

Re: CME. I've decided that baby of Nata's is as gutsy and stubborn as she is and plans to stay put.

Robey

RlaO- I didn't upload a ton of pics from that trip, but I did put a few up on my photo site:

Wow Vivi, I am in awe. Lucky you! The pictures are great. I wish we were at a PowerPoint presentation where you could explain it all to us.

What a world traveler. Soak it all in.

R la O

I was thinking your friend's husband, Biko's youngest son, must have been just a baby when his daddy died, right?

Yes. Basically a newborn. He never knew his dad. Very sad. His older brothers were also very little. But they are committed to his legacy.

RlaO- I'll e-mail you an explanation of what's happening in the pics later.

Thanks Vivi!
