Una Familia Con Suerte #77-78 Thu 1/12/12 Everyone wants to get the truth or get lucky; no one succeeds.

Tomcat and Peppy chat about their love lives or lack thereof on the Avon steps. The police arrive and arrest Pep for kidnapping Moni. Celeste runs in to alert her.
Meanwhile, in the office, Moany asks Enzo why he lied to her about her mother. Before he can answer, Sandra interrupts with news of the arrest. Moany yells at her dad and says he’s selfish and she hates him.
Moany tries to explain things to the poli, to no avail. She yells at Enzo some more and demands the truth, but again is interrupted when Pancho shows up. Pancho and Enz practice their martial arts on each other. Despite Enzo’s six-pack abs and all, Pancho seems to be the victor. Samson effect?
Over at ChachoNet, Lupita thinks Elena should be more worried about Tom el Tomado’s drinking. Alex drives up, somehow having forgotten to wear his swell new shirt, and smooches Loopy. Hellena is muy celosa and thought-bubbles that Loopy is two-faced.
Candy got the deal to do a pilot for a show. Ana will help her produce it.
Down at the station, Moany tries to explain things to the uncooperative desk officer. Enzo says he’s going to charge Pancho with assault, too. They start to brawl again. The officer reminds them he’s jailed them for this behavior before. Moany gives her ID to the officer and says she went away with Peppy willingly and let the record show that it was MARVELOUS.
Chela arrives and goes all Mama Bear on Enzo and slaps him. He just stands there impassively regarding her. Chilly says he doesn’t love his daughter; he doesn’t even know what love is and he will end up alone. Moany agrees and tears run down Enzo’s face. She says she doesn’t want to see her heartless lying father ever again.
Doc Cuckoo tells Vice it is imperative to his recovery that he get intimate with Pina TODAY.
Peppy, Moany, and the others are back at the big house. Pancho asks her what she meant about the lies. Moany explains she just found out her mother is alive, and she doesn’t know why her dad lied about it.
Pina asks herself why she’s wasted so much time with Vice when she could have been someone like Margaret Thatcher or Angela Merkel; she has the abilities. Not the role models I would have expected for Pina. She is full of surprises. Vice arrives with a bag from some fancy place and a bottle of champagne. Pina’s political ambitions will have to wait. Vice carries her to bed and they both awkwardly try to act seductive. It is hilarious.
Not much later, Pina lounges on the bed in red marabou while Vice directs Adoración to set a romantic table. Ado is confused. Vice asks if he needs to repeat everything like a parrot. Pina confides to Abejita that she may be getting a new little sibling. Vice and Pina drink champagne and dance to jazz music. They almost kiss, but Ado arrives with matches for the candles.
Later, too much later for Pina’s liking, she is trying to get things moving a little faster. Vice unbuttons his shirt…the candles burn down…and FF to Vice in bed with the sheets pulled up to his chin, insisting that this has never happened to him before; it must have atrophied. The candle goes out; no nooky for Pina yet again.
Enzo drinks and cries and replays Chilly’s yelling. Moany arrives and says she wants the whole truth. He won’t tell her, so she says she’ll find out for herself and starts packing a suitcase. Monica cries and leaves; Enzo cries and says he can never let her know the truth.
Pancho tells Rebe what went down. She’s cold, so he turns on the fire to heat her up. They roast sausages over the flames and things start getting heated in general, but the doorbell rings. It’s Moany. Pancho tells Peppy to take her to a guest room.
Pina tries to discuss the problemito and thinks Vice should get the little blue pills, but he refuses. He says SHE must be the problem, because this has never happened to him with anyone else. Say WHAT?!
Adoración tries to comfort Pina and asks what she can do. Pina says not Flores de Bach, nor those de Beethoven nor even Mozart, can help her. Vice is a cheater cheater pumpkin eater. Or Candy. Or something. Ado says that isn’t exactly news. Pina erupts. She KNEW?! And didn’t say anything? The betrayal!!! Tell the truth! Ado swills champagne for courage…then leaves Pina alone with her suffering and no information.
Chilla washes and massages Pancho’s feet, as everyone does for their brothers-in-law. Except those who aren’t pathetic weirdo stalkers. He’s worried he’ll screw up at work and lose everything. She says he will never ever lose HER. Punchy tells her he feels guilty that she’s spent so much of her life taking care of his kids instead of forming her own family. He wants her to try to find someone. She says she’s never leaving him and will lurve him 4eva. Then she lip-assaults him. Pinchy looks pained.
Next day: Pancho and Rebe spend their office time flirting as usual, until Pancho mentions playing footsie with Chela and Rebe gets irritated and asks how he’d like it if she did that with some guy who lived in her house. Pancho says he doesn’t think she should be upset, then in practically the same breath mentions that Chela says she’ll always be in love with him and will never leave. Surprisingly, this does not help.
Back at the house, Moany tells Peppy she thought about her mother all night. Peppy thinks it’s good news that her mom is alive, but Moany isn’t convinced, because that means she abandoned her. Peppy agrees to help her find her mom. She asks him to join her new Avon car-racing promotion thing. He’ll do it under an alias, Sirenito. Later they work on designing the graphics for his car.
Rebe meets with Fernanda about the award thing, zzzzzz.
Pancho has a new speech coach who stutters. Later he and Rebe work on his biography and she offers up a lot of flattering descriptions of him, zzzzzzz.
The three Pesketeers bicker. Enzo tells them Moany left but he can’t tell her the truth because it would make her suffer. He’s not sure what she can find out; the matrilineal surname he gave Moni is fake. Vins points out that she is already suffering a great deal. Sandra comes in fully clothed in black from neck to wrist to ankle and announces she is fed up with being treated as a sexual object.
Arnoldo visits Ana at the house and asks her to be the face of the new Avon product. I hope it’s an anti-wrinkle cream. Ana doesn’t want to do it. “Doble. Whats. Por. Qué?!” is Arni’s response. Then he tries to find out what is up with the program she and Candy are working on.
Evening. Pina, Vice, and Arnoldo are at the freshly-plumbed casa with a tuxedoed waiter helping out since Ado isn’t feeling well. Inés arrives and calls the place a pigsty. Hey, do pigsties have new pipes?! Pina compliments her appearance, and Inés says she can’t return the sentiment. Ado runs in with some wine. Inés tells her to get lost, so she runs off to puke.
Inés says she would spend everything she has to ruin Fernanda. She says if Vins is voted businessman of the year, he can become president of Avon (how?) and then they can merge it with Belle Corpo and buh-bye Fernanda. Meanwhile, Arni tells Pina he will try to find out what Candy is up to.
Loopy tells Ana if she is on billboards and posters maybe Frauddie will pay attention to her. Yep, paper-thin is probably about the amount of depth Frauddie looks for in a dame.
At Avon, Can-do Candy’s show is being set up. Ana asks who’s paying for it and producer Ortíz says he is, because he loves Can-do. She gently tells him they can only be professional friends. Ana powders Candy’s cleavage. The show starts, and her first guest is some wrestler, Cibernético. She feels him up and flirts a lot. Yes, this is a groundbreaking program. He says he used to be monogamous but he converted to Islam and now needs seven wives or some such. The program seems to be a success.
Ana gets permission from Pancho to do the ad campaign. He doesn’t trust Arnoldo, owing to the company he keeps, so he will keep an eye on things.
Ado is very sick. Pina sends her to bed and says she’ll call the doctor. Later, Pina freaks out because she needs to go to Vice’s coronation, but Ado is sick so there is no one to take care of Abejita. Oh, well, no one will notice if she isn’t there. Frauddie offers to stay with her and starts to say with actual concern that she’s seemed kind of down lately, but Vins rushes him out the door to the big event.
The López clan is also all dressed up. Chacho is wowed by Chela but she only has googly eyes for Pancho.
Fernando goes to Rebe’s apartment and tells her that Inés has bought off one of the voters who is bankrupt. She wants Rebe to go to him and offer double.
Abeja is having issues, and Pina thinks she’s in labor. She calls the doc and rushes to get the kit and panics because she’s all alone. Time to call in Tomcat el plomero?
Tomorrow: The big awards, and then Rebeca see Chela smooch Pancho.

Would someone get Chela a life.!!

She lusted after her brother-in-law while her sister was alive, played martyr and saint for years after her sister's death, and now a sexual stalker out for same former brother-in-law. What a lazy cowardly woman. Afraid to live her own life.

No doubt, Pancho will turn out like most men--unwilling to grow up and out of his comfort zone and will go into fall back position with Chela.

Poor Rebe. Broken heart over an immature man.

Thanks for the recap! I was on the edge of my chair for that first hour, so much happened it was dizzying. Vince was funny and then cruel. Pina was silly, non-seductive, and then crushed. So sad.

Thank you Julia for the fun recap. Loved your Three Pesketeers line. That fits the three so well. Poor Pina, ITA with you Melinama she is so sad and abandoned. I couldn't beleive Vins told her it is all her fault. He just should have said he was having a headache, lol.
Frauddie did look sincere when he asked if Pina was ok.

Anon 3:27 ITA with you about Chela she is never letting Pancho go. Why Pancho didn't stop her from kissing him is beyond me. He has told her over and over he is not into her. She really needs to find a novio of her own. However, I don't think Pancho will ever love Chela the way she loves him. He has told her over and over again that she is like a sister to him.

Enzzo is such a putz. What he hoped to accomplish by having Pepe arrested is beyond me. I like how Pancho duked it out with Enzzo and knocked him down. It looked like a move from my women's defense class years ago. lol. I liked Chela getting in his face. Served him right.

Enzzo should tell Moni the truth. At least she would know what happened between he and her mother. He shouldn't have lied to her in the first place. Now the poor thing feels abandoned. What hurt her the worst was Enzzo telling the other Pesketeers the truth about her mother.

I don't like that Rebe and Fernanda are going behind Pancho's back with the vote for Business Man of the Year. When Pancho finds out, he is going to be mad. I can't stand Ines either. Her and Vins are so greedy. I wonder too if Pancho could be Fernanda and Ines' husband's son. Ines sure wants vengence.

I liked Candy in her new job. She will do well. Now if she would just forget about Vins.

I like Chela. I guess it's a holdover from enjoying her in QE and as the wonderfully over the top Vickie, Vickie, Vickie on Dinero. I sure liked the way she got all up in Enzo's face. It's a long way to episode 232 I've been figuring that after much kanoodling with others one day Pancho & Chela were going to have changed and matured so much that they will rediscover one another.

On the other hand, Rebe is sweet -- even if she has been drawn in to this scheme to keep the truth from Pancho. Maybe SHE is the one who will lose Pancho and get him back in the end. Who Know? Too soon to tell.

" three Pesketeers" -- great one Julia. Also liked "paper-thin is probably about the amount of depth Frauddie looks for in a dame"

I agree with you Julia Pina is full of surprises. I had the same thought when she started talking about how she could have been Margaret Thatcher or Angela Merckel if it were not for her years of waiting around for Vince. She is turning out to be a very interesting character.

And what's up with Elena? What a self centered dog in the manger chick.

Julia- You did an amazing job capturing what happened in two hours in your snappy recap. Loved all your nicknames for folks-- Moany, Peppy, Tomcat, Chilly, Punchy, Can-do...

I agree that the scene between Pina and Vince was so sad. Time for her to leave him/kick him out already.

What was the point of all that planning if Candy's show is just going to be an exact replica of Pina's show, with more flirting?

I howled when Enzo started in with his kung fu moves, and Pancho laid him out with women's defense class moves. Enzo is being an idiot. He's driving Moni away further with each bonehead move. And how cruel of him to hav even changed her maternal last name, so if she goes looking for her mom with that last name, she'll find nothing.

I can't even talk about Chela's desperate moves last night. See! This is exactly why I am on Rebe's side when it comes to this. Chela is after her man, and should NOT be allowed to live in the same house if she's going to keep this up. And Pancho is to blame for letting her do it. The foor massage and the kiss were way over the line. I notice that he did not notice glammed up Chela when the family all came downstairs to head to the awards.

I do feel a break-up coming with Rebe and Pancho though. It will be a combination of her seeing Chela kissing him, and him finding out Rebe hid all the background intrigues about the award from him. But I think they will be together by the end of this tn.

Julia, thanks for your recap. ITA w/your observation on Pina and her role models. I hope she kicks Vins to the curb soon.

ITA Anon @ 3:27am w/your assessment of Chela and you too Vivi about getting her out of the house if she is going to sexually stalker her former BIL.

Thanks Melinama and Ezra for your recaps yesterday.

Julia, I loved all the names too - especially "Moany" and "Three Pesketeers." And "Chilla washes and massages Pancho’s feet, as everyone does for their brothers-in-law." lol

I thought the candles signifying sex-fracaso was well done. I can't see Fernanda and Rebe as the good guys if they bribe to win Pancho the contest. They're just as bad as Vince and Ines. And after all the lectures Rebe's given Pancho on proper business behavior.

I wasn't terribly opposed to Chela staying in the house before, but if this is how she is going to act after he's told her over and over that he isn't interested and he's with Rebe, then he needs to throw her out. Kissing him was crossing a line. His Besos Paralysis didn't help. Chela has absolutely no imagination. She fixates on the one man who has always happened to be right in front of her. Trying to pursue that relationship is like walking into a brick wall, but she WILL NOT turn and walk a different direction, she just keeps butting her head against it.

Poor Pina. I hope that was finally the last straw and she is realizing she'd be better off without her horrid non-husbandly housemate.

Enzo is an idiot...keeps doing the same things despite getting terrible results. Refuses to change his strategies. Once again I am thinking he and Chela are perfect for each other.

Vocabs:

echar una canita al aire - to have a fling

lodo - mud

enajenada - deranged

menguar - to diminish or wane

anquilosarse - to stagnate or stiffen

palangana - washbasin

guijarros - pebble

escudería - motor-racing team

Does Moni know that Enzo changed his name? I wonder if she knows any of her extended family at all, or even who they were.

Get the truth or get lucky...yep, sounds like the plot of most of our telenovelas Julia. Great title. And of course "Three Pesketeers" is a keeper.

I didn't see this but from the description of the jail scene, I'm sure Enzo and Chela will end up with each other. At last, a galan for our sweet whiner. Of course it will take months and months for it to happen but so what.

Thanks for the vocabulary as well. "Echar una canita en el aire" is one of my favorites...especially since I have canitas all over the place.

Julia, thank you! This was a terrific recap of a very lively and action-packed episode.

Heh, did Vince say to Candy "Give me some sugar" in English? It sure sounded liked it (their scene after he had just arrived home from Doc Cuckoo).

Aha! Enzo finally looked at Chela in a different light, like he was actually noticing her for the first time.

Güera, I like your description of Elena being the dog in the manger. It's very apt.

Vivi, with so many episodes I imagine we will have numerous break-ups and make-ups between most of our love couples.

Add me to the list of "Pesketeers" admirers. I think that term is a keeper.

As usual, I've got a lotta catching up to do, but Three Pesketeers is definitely a Caray Hall-of-Famer.

Was it just my imagination, or was tonight's episode exhausting? Perfect for Friday the 13th. Recap tomorrow if I'm lucky, more likely Sunday.

232 episodes!! Get away. Depending on whether they are 1 or 2 hours/per night, hat's sure to take at least 6 more months!! I don't think I can last that long.

Thanks for all the vocabulario. Much appreciated.

Yes, Julie, Friday's was exhausting. I had to FF>> through some of Pancho's caterwauling. Take your time and as many fortifying substances as you need, and by all means feel free to skim over or skip the less interesting stuff. Suerte.
