El Mundo de Telemundo, week of February 6: Discuss among yourselves
Labels: flor-salvaje, maid, relaciones, telemundo
Luisa manages to smash the lock our sadistic Abel placed on the stable door and free Cat. Meanwhile, Arsenio deferentially tells Abel he and his boys would have been willing to spare him any risk and do the job for him. He replies that there are certain tasks he likes to do himself. Sacto somehow appears while the ranch hands are fighting the fire and saving Cat’s horses. She tells him what Abel said – that this was meant as a warning for him to stop meddling. Abel tells Arsenio he’ll establish an alibi by sneaking in the back door of the hotel and having his dear mother vouch for him being there all night.
Rocío has checked into the hospital to spend the night before her surgery. Mariano tries once more to talk her out of it, but is shut down by her insistence that she needs his support. José María shows up and Mariano notices how her face lights up at the sound of his voice. Later Mariano asks him if he’s an ophthalmologist or a general practitioner. Why does he need to be in the operating room?
José María shows up to check on Cat. He tells Sacto both she and the baby are fine. Whew! I never thought Cat would burn up, but I did think she was going to lose the baby. JM says it has to have been a person with a twisted mind to try to burn up a pregnant woman. Quesada shows up, and Sacto sarcastically reminds him of how he let Johnny go and dismissed Sacto’s warnings about drug criminals coming to town. Now doesn’t this retribution against Cat seem exactly like what the cartel would do? Q looks uncomfortable.
Zahra personally brings her demon child his dinner on a tray. The poor baby has a headache and that’s why he hasn’t gone to the 4P to stalk Flor.
Sacramento sleeps in Cat’s bed. She wakes up next to him very, very happy. When he wakes up she tells him she would have burned down the whole hacienda if it meant having him in her bed all night.
At the hospital, before the surgery, JM tells Mariano about Cat almost being burned up. Mariano goes to the Jefatura to castigate Quesada for not having let him know. Although Quesada actually is trying to separate himself from MG, per his conversation with the Governor, he innocently says that he thought, living at the hacienda, Mariano would be the first to know. Mariano says that now Sacramento looks like a king to Cat, and he’s like an old shoe.
Abel is having breakfast outside when Flor shows up. He asks if she missed him last night, and she curtly tells him she didn’t come there to see him. She has come to collect Zahra, and Piruetas is going to take them to Timotes to support Rocío in the hospital. Abel tries to offer to take them, but Flor is very short with him. Zahra assures him that Flor is just like that and she’s going to help him in his effort to win her.
The P’s are in the hospital waiting room, laughing and carrying on. Ines is there and rebukes them, telling them they’re not on a stage at the 4P. Ana asks how she knows there’s a stage there. Oh, of course, her boyfriend JM is a regular and must have told her. Maybe Ines should apply for a job there. Mina says that Rocío is more woman blind than Ines is with all her faculties.
Avelino is about to finally tell Manuela how he feels about her. He says that both his grandfather and his father began their courtship at this very spot by the river. Just then Manuela sees Dead Diego floating down the river.
Cat is glowing and she and Sacto are having breakfast on the porch when Mariano shows up. He sharply asks if Sacto spent the night. [This guy has brass cojones. He forced himself into her house under the pretense of needing to be closer to town for his “mayoral duties”, and now he acts like HE owns the place and can dictate who is on the premises.] Cat is strengthened by Sacto’s renewed affections and tells Mariano: “Of course he spent the night. He’s taking care of me.” Sacto asks why Mariano has taken an accusing tone with her since he’s nothing to her. Mariano asks why she didn’t call for him after the fire. Then he leans forward, asking how the baby is, as if he’s planning to pat her stomach. Sacramento stands up and tells him that his child is just fine. When Mariano says that he wasn’t asking Sacto, he was asking her, Cat says that Sacto can of course answer the question because, after all, it’s HIS baby. He has a father’s rights that no one can take away.
While waiting for Rocío’s surgery to be finished, the P’s decide to visit Rafael. There’s a rather sweet moment when they are glad he’s going to recover and he’s touched they came to see him. This is, of course, spoiled by Ana dripping venom about how well Abel and Flor are doing together.
Ines puts on surgical scrubs and peeks into the operating room. The ophthalmologist discovers an infection that could endanger the whole process. JM freaks out and says that he has to restore Rocío’s sight. “Rocío is the most important thing in my life!” Ines retreats crying.
Abel runs into Alicia and Enrique at the hotel. He tells them the record producer will be in town in about two weeks. Alicia is a bundle of nerves. After she goes off, Abel asks Enrique why she’s so nervous. He tells him that she didn’t sleep well the night before. I was expecting this nervousness would be bad news for Alicia. But Abel tells Arsenio that, while Alicia was obviously nervous about Diego, she managed to lie to Enrique, who was very calm. She’s very astute. Maybe it’s time for her to meet her new boss. And maybe she’s the one to replace Johnny.
Mariano is asking Manuela at the riverbank about how she noticed the body. Meanwhile, someone calls Enrique. He doesn’t really connect the dots and goes to the scene just doing his duty as a reporter. Mariano suggests he photograph the body and print a picture in the paper. The guy had no identification. When the body bag is unzipped, Enrique freezes in horror at the sight of Diego.
That was only a snag in the OR. Rocío’s surgery went well. Rafa asks about her, and the nurse tells it was a success. He then asks the nurse to get him out of there.
Zahra is becoming a broken record. In the hospital lobby she’s again telling Flor how perfect Abel would be for her. Rafa comes up behind her in a wheelchair and asks: “With whom would Flor be happy, Zahra?”
Relaciones Peligrosas: viernes, or
(Running and) Jumping to Conclusions
- Mauricio's plan to "control" Oliver isn't even a plan--Oliver is blackmailing him for $1000 to keep his mouth shut. Mau initially hits up his sister Sofia, but she's broke; he then goes to Yesenia, who's apparently a close friend of his--in both senses of the word, considering this show--and asks her for the cash. Yesi agrees to dip into her Free Whomever From Jail fund (Mau apparently is the only person who knows who Yesi's mystery guy is, since he says he knows she needs the money) and Mauricio gives it to a contact of Oliver's. Who remarks "See you next week." Uh oh.
Jumped conclusion #1 occurs when Miranda sees Yesi kissing on Mau in the school library, and she assumes that Mau is/was playing games with her by both leaving her the note and apparently macking on Yesi. Jumped conclusion #2 comes from Liz showing up at Yesi's trailer just in time to see another slightly more than friendly smooch between them. Since this is Liz of the "I'm going to hook up with this guy in my dad's ex-wife's living room" temperament (and while she initially turns down Gonzalo's offer early in this episode to finish what they started in Bob's tow truck she later reconsiders the idea while tuning out her dad), it's not like she has room to talk...
- Jumped conclusion #3 already happened--Alejandro thinking Sebastian was gay--but it comes to a head here, when he admits to Sebastian before a scrimmage with the Cervantes football team that he's falling for him. Sebastian lets him down gently, saying that he considers him a little brother, and finally clarifies that he was talking about Nora as his forbidden attraction. Alejandro later gets creamed in the scrimmage, quits the football team, and ends up venting to Nora about it all--so Nora now knows how Sebastian feels about her too. Aww...
- Operation Stalk Juan Pablo gets derailed when JP gets lucky and catches his stalker leaving a note on his SUV. He ends up getting his daily workout by chasing the guy, who happens to have an artificial arm, to the abandoned railyard where Mabel Mora bought it in La casa de al lado and corners him. JP gets his evil "Tell me or I'll kill you!" on (with just a hint of crazy-eye to boot) and that forces the stalker to reveal that he's just a middleman--the real stalker-by-proxy is a man in Mexico named Jaime Oliveras, who hired him by phone. JP's response to that bombshell is a hint at a bigger bombshell: "My ex-father-in-law?"
- Mauricio's lie to JP about the "new club" at Cervantes does lead JP to confront Max about blabbing about the anonymous calls he'd been receiving, with a veiled threat to watch his varsity back. He could always get kicked off the football team, after all. Max in turn goes to the usual suspects and apparently decides to institute a JP-themed "challenge" of his own...
- And it's just not a good day to be Cassius Dupont. Team Douchebag already went after him once for charming their women, and they go after him again to force him to report a charge of racism against Ana Conde, the history teacher, for an innocuous remark she makes during a talk about the Civil War. (Reporting her means that she can't give the class a test that Team Douchebag expects to fail.) So Cassius goes to Principal Teresa and reports Ana, and Teresa calls a staff meeting and gets the whole thing out in the open. Ana is understandably pissed, with a side of "Screw all of you!"
"Screw all of you" is apparently her default side, since she lays down the law to Violeta (who's staying with her and her milquetoast hubby Gilberto by request of her mother) about what she expects from her while also ragging on her eating habits over lunch.
Bill, I love the clever recap. I watch this while flipping between channels, so I missed most of it last night. I did see JP get crazy-eyed with the kid that's been hired to stalk him. That's an interesting mystery that's being built up. I also saw Alej tell Nora about Sebas. So, Sebas feels guilty because Nora was his brother's girl? Is that it?
For a smart kid, Mau sure is stupid. Oliver can't prove anything about him and Miranda, unless Mau keeps stalking and harrassing Miranda.
So the new kid is not afraid to make a false accusation about a teacher to the principal, but is too scared to rat out the kids who are bullying him and race baiting?! OK, whatever.
Great recap, Bill, you certainly know how to summarize and put everything together, in a very entertaining way.
Vivi, yes, Sebastian feels that a relationship with the girlfriend of his dead brother is somehow forbidden. Alejo thought the forbidden relationship was with HIM.
As for Cassius, we have to remember that many of the kids did think what Ana Conde (nickname Anaconda) said was racist. She said something like, "Thanks to Abraham Lincoln's actions in the Civil War, we are able to have a black person in our class today." She sort of pointed to Cassius. But the word she used was negro, which of course means black in Spanish. The kids sort of thought (wrongly, I believe) that this was akin to using the n word. So Cassius's decision to turn in Ana is not as risky as getting beaten up by Max and Gonzo. Max had gotten an F on his paper, and wants to use the accusation to force Ana to give him a better grade, so he can stay on the football team.
Liz has now decided she and Gonzo can have sex in Yesi's trailer (Yesi apparently lives alone). Bill, thanks for clarifying the other choice was Bob's tow truck. They used the word "grúa", which I translated as "crane", but tow truck seems correct in this instance.
JP, being the gym teacher, is an athlete, and of course he was able to catch the one-armed kid. The kid was going to get money for a new prosthesis from JP's ex-suegro (I'm guessing his suegro's daughter died, and he blames JP).
Also, Patty agreed to live with Miranda and pay rent, not just stay for a few days, which should lead to some interesting developments.
All these first year young teachers sure are living in nice, big apartments! And none of them have roommates. In expensive Miami. Oh please! I agree that with Miranda and Paty living together, it should make for some fun and interesting situations.
This show is definitely living up to its name, as there are plenty of dangerous relationships going on. There's also quite a bit of sex and partial nudity (no complaints here).
Yesenia and Liz are in Yesi's trailer as Yesi changes, prompting Liz to remark about Yesi's bounteous assets. Liz is upset that Yesi and Mau might be a thing. Yesi reassures her, although she was with Mau in the past, nothing's going on now. But I thought you broke up with Mau? Oh, right, says Liz, I did, and BTW, can I use your trailer for sex with Gonzalo? My trailer is your trailer, says Yesi, and leaves.
Liz calls Gonzo over for sex in the trailer. Gonzo says if he had money, he'd buy a cool trailer like this. Should I lend you money? asks Liz. Nah, Gonzo's got too much pride. So much that after they strip and do the deed, when Liz goes to shower, Gonzo steals ALL of Yesi's money, which was in a knocked over coffee can!
JP isn't letting the one-armed kid go until his phone rings. It does, and it's Olivares, JP's suegro, saying 1) JP killed Olivares's daughter, and 2) JP is really Daniel Arambula. But I didn't kill her! says JP. Yeah, then why did you change your name and flee to the US? Turns out Olivares is right outside(!), and JP has 10 hours to confess to the cops, or else!
We meet Bertrand, Cassius's father, who owns a laundry, where Cassius works. He warns Cassius not to get involved with white or Latino girls (just when Sofia was being nice to him), or it's back to Haiti!
Ana Conde's car is marked "racist" and the windows are smashed. Thanks to Leo, Gonzalo and Diego.
At Mauricio's house, Manuel the strict father meets Leo Max, who says he's Sofia's boyfriend. Sofia makes a face. The father is happy that Leo is white, heaven forbid his daughter should have a black boyfriend! Sofia complains that Manuel urges Mau to get a girlfriend, but discourages her, when they're the same age.
Sebastian, Nora and Alejandro are horsing around in a swimming pool. Nora kisses Sebastian. Then she kisses Alejo. The she tries to get the two BOYS to kiss! They almost do, but Alejo pulls away, embarrassed he was getting aroused, and Sebastian says he would have kissed him, it's no big thing. These kids are asking for trouble!
We finally find out who Yesi visits in jail. It's her brother Joaquin, who has a few months left on his sentence. He's actually in jail for something he didn't do (I think he took the rap for Yesi). He also tells Yesi about Oliver, who seems to have lots of money. They realize that Oliver is getting his money from Mau, who got it from Yesi!
The boys (Diego, Max, Gonzalo and Mau) now have turned Mau's made up idea of a club where you bet into reality. The latest idea is a nude photo of a teacher. They flip a coin between Patty and Miranda, and Miranda wins. Diego is supposed to seduce her. If he sleeps with her, it's $2000! But Mau sort of buys into the bet for himself, contributing some of his electronic gear as collateral or something. Later, we see him looking a his computer. When he slept with Miranda, he had taken a photo of her nude, sleeping form (certain parts hidden by pillows, of course). Should he give that photo to the group, to get money, to pay Oliver? Don't do it!
Rafael and Flor Salvaje talk past each other and exchange bitter words in the hospital lobby. Rafa tells them that he’s going to be free. He tells Flor she should go to her new victim, Abel. He says her other victims are Sacramento, Pablo, and him.
Abel has the briefcase full of money that Diego brought for the drug buy. He smirks about Diego’s death costing him so much money.
Enrique is momentarily stunned by Diego being in the body bag. Mariano notices and asks if he knew him. Enrique recovers, and just said he’s shocked by the sight. Mariano still thinks it’s odd that a seasoned reporter would be so impacted by the sight of a dead body.
Mariano shows up at Abel’s drug lab and says to himself that this is where drugs are made. When Abel shows up, Mariano tells him he doesn’t see any drugs. Mariano gets nervous when Abel starts to admit everything. He says that a person who knows about a drug lab is probably a dead man. Then Abel pulls a gun on him. It’s all one of Abel’s twisted jokes. He gives the briefcase full of money to a delighted Mariano, telling him he’ll get the same thing every month.
Zahra is worried that Rafa knows about her demon kid pursuing Flor Salvaje. She and Flor talk about Rafa’s crimes and Flor again is bitter that he fooled her about Pablo’s body. Later Rafa, now very bitter, tells Rufino not to bother telling Flor it was really Rufino who moved the body to protect him. But he says Rufino should get some weapons and guys together. There’s going to be war.
Enrique puts a bag over Johnny’s head and beats the tar out of him, hoping to get the name of his boss.
The Gov comes to see Rafa again and tells him about the body in the river. Rafa says that of course there’s no doubt there’s a drug gang around. The Gov says he’s putting Quesada in charge of investigating. Rafa scoffs, saying Q is Mariano’s faithful dog, but the Gov disagrees, saying Q is now his man.
José María tells Rocío everything looks good after her surgery. He can’t resist and kisses her. She gets and angry, asking if he wants her for a mistress after he marries Ines.
Cat has gone to the hospital with Mariano to see Rocío, but also goes to tell Rafa that she believes him when he says he meant for Pablo’s body to be discovered to show Flor he was a changed man. She also tells him that someone tried to burn her up in the stable. Rafa immediately says it was Abel Torres. Cat says Mariano says it wasn’t him. Rafa tells her what a rat Mariano is – that he confessed to him that he killed Silvia, one of the P’s. He’s pretty sure Lourdes died the same way. He tells Cat she needs to be careful. Cat comes out of Rafa’s room rather shaken up and Mariano picks up on how nervous she is.
Two weeks pass. Ines has on her wedding dress and looks miserable. She asks her mother to go ahead to the church. Meanwhile José María has gone to the clinic in his morning coat, dressed for the wedding. The operation is a success. After the clichéd first blurry look, she sees. But she doesn’t feel happy because she recognizes his clothing and cries on Piruetas shoulder.
Abel comes to pick up Flor for some date they’ve arranged. He asks her to keep her eyes closed and takes her to Rafa’s woodsy lair. I would think the bedding would be pretty moldy by now, but oh well. He tells her he just happened to find this spot and thought she’d enjoy it. She looks on in horror.
Hombre and Bill- I went to bed, so didn't watch last night. Seriously? Mau is contemplating selling a photo of naked Miranda? I am convinced that he WANTS her to go to jail. Idiot!
Will there be one episode of this with no sex or almost sex? The writers have sex on the brain. Are we sure the writers aren't horny teenagers themselves? ;-)
Rafa tells the reporters on the way out of jail that he’s going to face the people causing the bad things that are happening in NE.
Flor tells Abel they need to leave. She doesn’t want to be here. Abel’s mask falls a bit. He asks where she’s going. He’s been trying for weeks to be alone with her and this is what happens. He grabs her and tells her that her playing with him is over.
Cat tells Sacto at the church that Mariano is her escort today. Mariano has the guts to cross himself before going further into the church! No bolt of lightning wipes him out.
Frigida is a bundle of nerves. The groom is late, and so is the bride. Ines tells Dudi to put her bags in the car.
Abel apologizes for his attitude, but he’s still not happy. Flor tells him that she only accepted to spend some time with him, not that he’d put his hands on her or expect anything. She asks “Why this place?” He says “Why not?” When she says she wishes she could forget this place, he gets it. He whines that she should have told him that she had been here with Urrieta; the last thing he wants to do is repeat anything that idiot did. She looks closely at him. “Who are you? Now I see another face. Is it that you’re going to be different with me than you are with others, cara de angel?
The first thing Rafa does is bring his lawyer to get Lucía released. She doesn’t appreciate it at all. Unclear if they really let her go.
Abel sings his same song: RU traumatized you and that’s why you can’t trust anyone. Flor tells him that at least he showed his true face. He said he wanted my services at the 4P. Abel says that he did the same and was refused. She says “And for that you invented all this farce of being a gentlemen? If you would have told me you only wanted my services, you could have saved yourself a lot of time because the answer is still no.” Flor refuses to ride back to town with him. He asks why she doesn’t trust him; he’s not Rafael Urrieta. She tells him to stop talking about RU. He’s obsessed with him, bringing him up every second. She sets off on foot.
Mariano compliments Cat for the way she got Sacto to back off. She tells him he knows that she really wanted to be with Sacto. He tells her she needs to stay right where she is, or does she want the baby born behind bars. He tells her she’s Lourdes’ accomplice in the kidnapping and blinding.
Cousin Jacinto arrives for the wedding. This is the guy Frigida told José María and Sacramento she sold Raimundo’s land to help out. It would be great if this came out.
Rocío comes to see the P’s and there’s lots of joy that she’s got her vision back.
Ines arrives at the church and stands at the altar with José María. When the priest asks if she takes this man, she says no. She says she can’t marry him because he doesn’t love her. And she doesn’t want to build her life on a lie. After she runs out Frigida turns on Caridad and says her daughter is a nutcase.
After talking with Dudi about the bags being in his car, José María takes off after Ines and finds her getting into the boat for Timotes. He tries to convince her to marry him. She tells him she doesn’t want to be like Frigida, compelling a man to stay with her. He says it’s important to try for the baby’s sake. She tells him she’s not pregnant. It was all a lie that was Frigida’s idea.
Rafael comes to the hotel to confront Abel. When the receptionist says he’s not in, he moves as if he’s going toward his room. Arsenio stops him, and says he’s not going anywhere. Rafa looks at him with murder in his eye and says to get out of his way or he’ll be eating the dust off his boots. He then draws his gun. Zahra shows up saying she’ll call the police if he doesn’t leave.
JM comes back to the church and practically yanks Frigida off her feet dragging her out of the church. Back at the house, she says she’s not feeling well and is going to her room. JM follows. He asks how she could play games with something as precious as a child. He tells her she knew perfectly well Ines wasn’t pregnant. When she comes up with the “watch how you talk to me”, he tells her to sit down because he isn’t finished. He says she has destroyed his life. Who is she to decide whom he spends his life with? Doesn’t she have feelings at all? Does she want to finish off his life like she did his father’s? I’m off the sofa clapping!
Rafa and Zahra confront each other. He says he has some business to settle with Abel. Zahra tells him that he’ll regret it for the rest of his life if he harms him. Rafa says he doesn’t know why she protects Abel so much, but he’s going to find out why.
Enrique tells Alicia that the police now know that Diego was a person who infiltrated cartels.
Abel comes looking for Flor yelling his head off. She’s gone to Rocío’s old casita to not have him find her. She finds out that Rocío can now see. Corre comes in with the news that the wedding didn’t happen. Rocío isn’t that excited, however, because it was Ines who made the decision, not JM.
Mariano is insufferable at Cat’s hacienda. Peter has come there after the aborted wedding. Mariano orders Luisa around and has her draw up his bubble bath. Peter asks why she puts up with this crap after MG leaves the room. Cat says it’s complicated.
Sacramento and JM talk about how Mariano tries to keep Rocío under his thumb, to the extent of trying to keep her from having the operation. JM wonders if he isn’t trying the same thing with Cat.
Abel is drinking in his room when Arsenio comes to tell him two things. One, that RU came to the hotel looking for him and the other is that Diego was undercover. A few years ago Diego brought down a cartel in the capital as an undercover. Abel says that Alicia brought the guy around. Either he fooled her too, or she was his accomplice.
Rafa shows up at the 4P. Mina, for one, is happy to see him. Flor tells him he can’t stay in any of the casitas. He tells her he knows very well what is hers; he was the one who gave it to her. He says he only came to thank the P’s for coming to see him in the hospital. It did him a lot of good.
Abel says to Zahra he wants RU to come after him; maybe he’ll kill him in self-defense.
Enrique tells Abel that Alicia had a bad night and that’s why she put off singing for the record promoter. When Abel keeps probing, Enrique tells him that Alicia knew Diego, the dead guy. So far this doesn’t reveal the whole thing. Abel already knew Alicia knew Diego.
Johnny then shows up to talk with Alicia. Where did you meet Diego? Your life is in the balance.
Rafael shows up at Hacienda Rojas to talk to Sacramento about working together to save Nueva Esperanza.
Thanks for the great recaps, Novelera.
So Ines goes off in her wedding dress - weird but JM's attack on Frigida was great. Frigida seems like she is teetering on the edge of sanity. I think it would be great if she ended up in a nuthouse.
I'm glad you mentioned that Mariano is blackmailing Catalina with her involvement in Lourdes' death and Rocio's blinding. I didn't catch that and couldn't quite figure out why she is letting Mariano squire her around.
Yeah, really, that bed out in the stream should have been really disgusting after at least two weeks in the weather. I guess the producers just wanted to get some more use out of it.
Thanks for the recp, Novelera. This show is so good, that even though I'm not watching it, I'm watching it! This was a satisfying episode, with Ines finally telling the truth. The shot of her in her wedding dress leaving in that little boat was very emotional.
Yes, Abel's facade is cracking a bit. But the big question is, will Rafael find out that Abel is his son before one of them kills the other?
I don't totally understand the whole thing with Enrique and Alicia, but I definitely like Alicia, and hope she is somehow able to turn the tables on the bad guys.
Since El Talisman didn't grab my attention, I may watch the end of Flor Salvaje, and then the next show, which also looks good.
I didn't like El Talisman, so I watched Una Maid last night. I've missed a week, but with these shows, that's not so bad. I see that Hugo did get deported. Of course, he's now in Mexico, paying someone to get hem back to across the border, to settle some scores. Uh oh! Meanwhile, Belinda and Gojo are enjoying their love.
No mention of Catalina, so I guess she's in jail and her story is over.
Tania has had it with Jerome, and leaves him. Calixta is still playing Stan, and wants 50/50 of his "dirty" businesses (drugs) where the real money is. Jerome will now answer to her.
Otherwise, we had a nice episode. Cris first has a talk with Marisa where he explains that although he spent some nights in Sara's room, nothing happened. Marisa isn't sure, but at least she listened.
Then Sara makes a big mistake. For Amelia's charity event, she forces the 4 maids to wear 1920's hooker outfits, with black stockings, revealing tops and headdresses. They gamely go along. But both Cris and Amelia are appalled. And they know it was Sara's doing.
Later, Cris takes Marisa to a warehouse he has redecorated with blankets, candles and flowers. Sure enough, after a little sweet words from Cris, love is rekindled, and the two of them luxuriate in a night they hope will never end.
No sex tonight, but lots of drama. Gonzalo has visions of his stepdad Bob's police friends checking his knapsack. He goes back to Yesi's trailer, says he lost his keys, and when she's in the bathroom, he replaces the money he stole. She later sees the box is crooked, and a little money is missing. She quizzes Liz, and I think they realize Gonzalo was the only one who could have done this.
JP pressures Max about the betting club. Max, thinking about his father Andres' demand that he be a man, be tough (as show by Andres' scar), admits they were betting to seduce Miranda. Now Mauricio is the one with the bet. Mauricio has just told Miranda he did NOT send the flowers (he didn't, it was Diego), but JP tells Miranda it was all a bet. Miranda is now destroyed, cries to her mother on the phone. Mom says your anger is hiding the fact that you really DO care for him.
When Mau approaches her and says he took the bet to protect her from the other guys, she's not convinced, she's mad and wants nothing further to do with him. He also says her anger means she really does love him.
Ana Conde has to take sensitivity training, and a substitute will take over her class. Nora, who is always into causes, leads a student march against her "racism". But Cassius confides in Santiago. Max and Gonzo forced him to file the complaint, or they'd beat him up. Santiago tells this to Ana, and they bring Max and Gonzo into the office. But M&G deny everything. When Ana says "lets see you say that face to face with Cassius", Santiago realizes Ana shouldn't have opened up her big (but beautiful, if you ask me) mouth, because now Cassius is in danger again.
JP rushes to Teresa's office to tell her the story before Olivares gets there. He says he was married to Laura, Olivares' daughter. Laura also had a sister. But Laura was mentally unstable, smashing things, screaming, etc. One day, on a balcony, she just leaned over backwards and killed herself (there's a lot of that going around in this show). JP was tried and found innocent. But Olivares hounded him so much he legally changed his name to get away from him.
Olivares comes in, calls JP a murderer. Teresa says JP should just get a restraining order, since he's been found innocent. Sounds good, right? But after they all leave, JP calls someone on the phone. It has to be either Laura or her sister, I'd say. He says something like "we have to be careful, they almost found out". What are you hiding, JP?
So both JP and Mau suspect each other of various things, and both are trying to trash the other's reputation with Marisa. What fun!
Good to hear from both of you, Hombre and Jean. I was starting to think everyone had stopped watching.
Yes, El Talismán is just awful. I lasted a week and one day and that was it for me.
The acting on Flor Salvaje is so good, and interesting things happen all the time. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that on this one the writers had a clear sense of how it would play out all through the novela. I thought for a while that Abel was tacked on. Now, I'm not so sure. It's working for me.
Hombre, the history of Enrique and Alicia is this:
Alicia was singing, dancing, and hooking at the 4P.
Enrique came to town to do a story on the effects of oil on this small town, corruption, etc.
He fell for her immediately and began painting portraits of her. They had an intense relationship, but then his uncle, Francisco Losada came to town to "save" him. He convinced Alicia that Enrique's family would never accept her. She told Enrique she'd taken money from Francisco to leave him alone and now she had a new guy. She starting drinking, moved to Timotes and fell into the clutches of Johnny, who got her hooked on drugs.
Amanda rescued her, she got clean and sober, and Enrique came back to town. Meanwhile he'd been pressured by his mother to marry Diana and did so.
All was well until Johnny showed back up. He'd been wounded in a gun battle in Timotes, but recovered. He got Abelardo involved in trying to sell drugs out of the 4P.
Alicia finally told Enrique what was going on. She said she couldn't just refuse; the cartel would kill her. So they decided to enlist Diego, an undercover guy, to trap the boss of bosses. Diego was killed by Abel as competition in the drug trade. He had no idea he was trying to infiltrate. Neither Alicia nor Enrique know that the big guy is Abel.
Welcome back, Hombre! :) You didn't miss much.
I agree, Sara made a huge mistake. Did she really think that forcing the maids to dress up like that would score her points with Amelia and Cris? I'm glad that despite her efforts to make Marisa look like a fool, Cris still left with Marisa. It's good to see Sara's plan backfire, but now she is more furious than ever...
I'm glad that Cris and Marisa are back together, but I wonder how long it will last. There has to be something that breaks them up again. I'm sure they'll go back and forth until the show ends.
I'm not watching this except for the part that goes over the hour and gets recorded on my Flor Salvaje recording. Was the candlelit place where Marisa and Cris were trysting supposed to be a bodega in Queens? I heard the evil rival tell her henchman to take her to 'el barrio de Queens,' and he said, 'at this time of night?' Pretty funny.
Great recap, novelera. Thanks for the detail about Cousin Jacinto, I had no idea who he was or how he’d figured previously in the plot. His introduction into the story hopefully means bad news for Frigida.
re Abel – I think he was kind of tacked on but I understand why they did it: they wanted another big baddie to go against Rafael & Sacramento in the ultimas semanas. They had Mariano, but he never had much interest in Flor, and with Abel and the drug angle, it becomes a battle for all of Nueva Esperanza. It also ties into Alicia's drug history and provides a nice suspense story for Enrique and Alicia for the final weeks. My major gripe would be they didn’t have enough time to establish Abel properly, so they had to do a rush job which resulted in him taking over the show, seeming to be in every scene for about two weeks’ worth of episodes. Lately, though, they’ve found their balance again and I think the last six episodes or so have been really good.
And I thought last night’s show was excellent. I was really glad they had Ines call off the wedding and admit everything. In that makeup and wedding dress, the actress was at her most attractive, and it was brilliant how the show had that correspond with the character finding self-respect and bailing on her wicked mother and wickeder would-be step-mother. And I loved that scene of her in her wedding dress, holding a white parasol, boarding the grimy little ferry. It was a great image.
And there are still proper, real obstacles between Rocio and Jose Maria to be resolved as the show is in its ultimas semanas: the fact that it was Ines who called off the wedding instead of Jose Maria; and the biggest, most dangerous obstacle, Mariano. And that was some clever writing, using Rocio’s eye surgery, to bring Jose Maria into Mariano’s orbit, or rather, crosshairs.
I’m watching EL TALISMAN because it’s in the “it’s so awful, it’s funny” category, but it is jarring going from FLOR SALVAJE, where the characterization is so rich and complex, to something where everybody is so one dimensional. I mean, Sergio Reynoso’s one note bluster on EL TALISMAN became tiresome after a couple episodes; compare that to a character like Mariano, who is utterly loathsome, obnoxious, depraved, frightening and perverted, but played by a charismatic actor like Gregorio Pernia who is constantly adding little touches, like that tiny moment of him crossing himself in church, that somehow make this awful person funny and entertaining, even, at times, charming. You want to see him get what's coming to him, but you're perfectly happy to wait until the last episodes for it to come because he's so interesting to watch in the meanwhile.
Hombre: Woo-hooooo! Welcome back! I think they were waiting for you to come back, now things will start moving again. I believe Cris said the storefront he set up as Seduction Central is the bodega he acquired for the neighborhood help center.
Nancy: I can't believe Sara is so clueless she didn't realize what a faux pas it would be to dress up the maids like streetwalkers. Amelia was not amused.
Jean: yep, I caught that...Bruno has some of the best throw-away lines. "Queens? At this time of night?"
Catalina is down but I'm predicting, she will be back. Otherwise, why the heavyhanded threats as they dragged her to her cell? ("I'll get even with you all if it's the last thing I do!", etc etc.)

argee--ITA re: Mariano--he's so despicable, but totally charming in some ways and he totally cracks me up with his little gestures and one-liners. It's ridiculous, I know, but I'm hoping for a miraculous redemption here. I know, I know... not gonna happen, I just hope his payback is more humiliation-based than painful-bloody-death based!

Getting kind of bored with all the intense storylines and not enough comic relief... sheesh! Bullying, racism, blackmail, etc... need more Patty/Santiago moments please!!
I really like Yesenia, but I have a feeling she's going to be causing some trouble soon with her obvious longing for some Mau...

Sacramento and Rafael agree to work together against Abel Torres. Rafa even asks if he can stay at Hacienda Rojas until he arranges a place to live. Sacto agrees, and it’s decided that José María will sleep at the medicatura for a couple of days. Sacto even offers to put some of Rafa’s gunslingers to work since Abel has stolen all his workers. These scenes with Sacramento and Rafael are great. I love the way Rafael is being now. He tells Sacto he admires him for his courage and he thinks he and Cat make a great pair! He also tells him that he has to take care of Cat and get Mariano Guerrero out of that hacienda yesterday!
Enrique gives me a scare talking to Abel. But, apparently accidentally, he manages to support the version that Alicia did not know Diego was trying to infiltrate a cartel. He says Alicia met him in Timotes when she was involved in drugs. Also, he’s pretty sure Diego was no longer undercover – that maybe he was trafficking himself.
Johnny threatens to kill Alicia, telling her that Diego was trying to get proof against them all so they’d end up in jail. He tells her he’s going to strengthen his position with the boss by killing her. Arsenio arrives in the nick of time to tell him that “the boss” has dictated that Alicia is to live.
Jacinto is in the process of calling Frigida a weird control freak when she tells him she loves him and starts to kiss him. Later on, they leave together, her with all her bags. Great!
Rocío and Cat are talking, Cat trying to convince Rocío to go see JM. They also discuss the problem of Mariano when Abel Torres shows up to see Mariano, a bit agitated. Cat tells Rocío that this makes her very suspicious of Abel. She’s sure there’s some evil business going on with the two of them. Abel wants Mariano to find out if what Enrique said about Diego no longer working for the Federal Police is true or not.
Zahra makes an annoying visit to Flor. Flor is not eager to have anything to do with Abel, so she doesn’t want to be in the middle of it when Zahra tells her Rafa plans to harm Abel. Zahra tells her that if Rafa kills Abel, it’s her fault. But when Flor confronts her, she won’t say why she’s so worried about the little creep.
Rafa shows up at the petrolero and appears not to have lost a step. He’s all business at the board meeting. He tells Peter he still wants Cat involved in the company. And, by the way, he’s dropping the court fight with Sacramento over the land. Tear up the agreement and give Sacto back the land.
Mariano and Quesada have an interesting conversation. They talk about Diego having brought down a cartel. Quesada asks him who told him this. Always intuitive, Mariano figures out Quesada knew this and didn’t tell him. Then Quesada tells him he’s pretty busy right now. Mariano figures out he’s lost his faithful sidekick.
Sacto shows up at Cat’s hacienda demanding an explanation of her behavior in the church. When Cat tries to make light of it, Rocío speaks right up and tells Sacto that Mariano is threatening Cat in order to keep living at her hacienda. She tells him Cat knew what Lourdes was going to do to Flor and to her. Mariano threatens her with jail as an accomplice. Cat runs out in tears. Rocío convinces Sacto that Cat was just manipulated by Lourdes. Finally, our judgmental Sacto sees shades of grey. He goes to Cat and tells her he’s there not because she’s the mother of his child, but because he loves her. A very sweet scene.
At the 4P, Alicia knocks the socks off the record producer, who is sitting with Abel. Zahra and Olga are there so she can watch out for her baby boy. The stage is set for the big showdown.
Thanks, Novelera, for another excellent recap. It definitely looks like some of the good (or maybe just "reformed") people are lining up against the new bad guys.
I'm also miffed at Zahra for being so protective of her "wonderful" little boy, who is really horrendous. I understand, it's her son, of course. One day, someone else will find out.
Good going, Rocio, for speaking up, and revealing Cat had been victimized by Mariano. And Sacto forgave her, too!
Oh course, Jose Maria is not ready to forgive himself, and get back to Rocio (he's now drinking), but it's just a matter of time.
Alicia sure has been through a lot. She was able to pull herself together and sing well, though. Novelera, yesterday you said Enrique is married to Diana. Where is she?
Rafa has changed his hairstyle to go with his newly noble ways.
Does Mauricio EVER tell the truth? He keeps getting threatening calls from Oliver. He needs $2000 more. He sells his $7000 motorcycle for $500. He goes to Yesi's. She says she's figured out Oliver is pressuring him, because her brother Joaquin is in jail and has contact with Oliver. Mau denies this, and gives Yesi her $1000 back. But of course he hasn't paid the bad guys. He gets a call that they're gonna hurt Miranda.
He rushes over to Miranda's, finds her place trashed, but she isn't there. Then she arrives, and thinks HE did it. He tries to get out some explanation, but then JP arrives. So Mau basically lets them think HE trashed Miranda's place over jealousy of JP.
He left Yesi's so fast, he forgot his computer. Yesi boots it up, with the thumb drive, and sees the nude picture of Miranda! Mau comes back, Yesi says, you're sleeping with her, right? Mau lies again, course not, that's a photoshop picture.
Thanks for the great recap, Novelera. Yup, folks are choosing teams.
I was relieved that Enrique didn't tell Abel the truth about Diego. I hope Enrique believes Rafa that Abel is the head honcho of the drug cartel.
Is Olga the only other person who knows that Abel is Zahra's son?
I missed Frigida leaving town. I hope that's permanent even though I'd rather see her forced to clean the bathrooms in a bordello. Didn't Frigida have some weird reaction when Jacinto was talking to her about their previous relationship that made me suspect that Jacinto was the father of either JM or Manuela.
Mau takes the computer back, now has the picture. He still needs money, and if you saw the previews, you can guess what happens to the picture of the sleeping Miranda.
Cassius is called to the principal's office to answer the question, was he forced or pressured to make up the complaint against Ana Conde? He swallows hard, and says yes. This vindicates Ana, but being the person she is, she now wants to oust Teresa for prejudging her, and Ana is going to "run" for principal in the "elections" coming up. Huh? Both Max and Gonzalo get two day suspensions. They immediately take it out on Cassius at his Dad's laundry, but putting him in the washer, and pressing spin! He almost used the gun in the cash drawer. In fact, his Dad says he should have (he doesn't tell Dad he knew the assailants).
Gonzo is in deep doodoo with Bob for getting suspended. Max would be too, except his doting Mommy agrees to hide it from his psycho Dad. Psycho Dad Andres does decide to give LeoMax control over the company's latest investment. $10 million! Is this a good idea?
JP is trying to get Miranda to give him a chance, and after all the unexplained stuff with Mauricio, she's considering it.
And, I almost forgot. Mauricio's day is so bad, what else could happen? A dog pees on his pants. So when he's back at Yesi's, she has to wash them, he has to strip and take a shower, and she likes what she sees! She definitely is going to somehow get involved with Mau, so that as JP tries to make it with Miranda, so will Yesi try to get it on with Mau (very symmetrical).
Hombre, here's the back story on Diana:
When Alicia broke it off with Enrique (telling herself it was for his own good - per Francisco's script) he went back to the capital to live with his mother. Also, Alicia was told by Francisco that Enrique was engaged to a woman in the city, part of the reason she wanted to let him go. They weren't actually engaged yet, but the odious Filomena (a candidate for crappiest telenovela mother ever) manipulated him into a half-ass proposal in public. Enrique tried to find Alicia, but she seemed to have disappeared completely.
He married Diana, the daughter of some high society family. Filo had been trying to land Diana for her family tree for years. The marriage was a bust. Enrique wasn't really into Diana at all. He painted a bunch of pictures of Alicia from memory and mounted a successful gallery show.
After the big narco shootout in Timotes (in which Alicia and Abelardo hid under furniture and Johnny was shot, but did not die) Enrique decided to come back to Nueva Esperanza in the capacity of reporter. Filomena told Diana she had to go along or risk losing her husband.
Then Alicia recovered, and she and Enrique were back together. Diana had been very snobby and critical of this town in the "jungle", but she turned fairly nice at the end. She had a spite one night stand with Sacramento and tried to get him for a while. The last we saw of her, she gave up and went back to the city.
J in Oregon - "Seduction Central" LOL! That's exactly what it was.
Did I understand correctly that Sara wants Victor to take Lalo away from Marisa? Why would he agree to that? He's drunk most of the time and hardly ever sees Lalo. He can't take care of him all the time. And how will that help Sara?
In case anyone missed their appearance on Monday morning, Litzy and Eugenio were interviewed on Levantate and they sang the theme song. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQAlL3o3x0I
Thanks for the link Nancy--I watched it at work.
Sara called Victor to her suite, and Bruno sees the writing on the wall. He's leaving and once he walks out the door, it's over. Then he changes his mind and comes back so he can hear what she has to say.
And yes, it sounded like Sara was telling Victor to get custody of Lalo. Just to be mean and make Marisa crazy, I think. And she tells Victor he can use the photo of Marisa kissing Cris to get custody of his son. Huh?

Wait, so what happened to the picture of Miranda Hombre? Did Yesi sell it? I haven't been watching, so I haven't seen the latest Misadventures of Mau.
Vivi, just wait til you hear what happened with that photo! Mau needs money, lots of it. Oliver, in jail has a talk with a high priced lawyer. He says if you let ME defend you, I can get you out in less than 5 years. If a public defender does it, you'll get 20-30 years. But I cost $25,000! After he leaves, Mau visits Oliver in jail. Oliver says he wants $30,000.00, now, or he'll have Miranda KILLED! He says that in full hearing of the prison guard. He says who cares if the guard hears, I have nothing to lose, but you DO!
Mau sold his $7000 moto for $500. The guy he sold it to is going to sell it to another guy for $100! But only if that guy starts running drugs for him. Gonzo was running the drugs, but tells the guy he's quitting, it's too risky. It looks to me as if Mau may end up running drugs, for $5000 a week, to save Miranda from being murdered. Of course he's not telling anyone. I think he has told his sister Sofia that he slept with Miranda, but he's lied to everyone else.
So, back to the photo. The bet is $2000 for a nude photo. He shows it to LeoMax, Gonzo and Diego. They swear never to show it to anyone. But Diego quickly grabs the phone and in one second, sends it to his own phone, unobserved by Mau. A few hours later, it's been printed out into a giant POSTER, and posted on the school bulletin board! Everyone gathers to see the picture of Miranda naked, including all the kids, Miranda, Patty, JP and Santiago. Teresa didn't see it. Miranda rips it down. Patty rips it up. Miranda wants to quit. Patty tells her to fight.
The only way out of this is if everyone believes it's photoshopped. At the end of the episode, Sofia approaches Cassius, the art genius, for a big favor. Maybe he'll do something artistic that will convince the kids that the picture of Miranda was photoshopped, although I can't figure out what.
Other little things: Mau beats up Diego for spreading the picture around. Cassius is a super fast runner, and may end up on the football team. LeoMax's father hits him in the side to show how tough he should be, and is now taking him to some big financial deal. Leo is not happy about this. I don't feel sorry for him one bit. When Sofia asked him to be nicer to Cassius, he said, okay, if you show me your boobs! (she was wearing a bathing suit) What a pig.
We also met Nora's family, who are Cuban, and proud of it. Sebastian and Alejo had a meal there.
Mauricio's father Manuel is worried that Mau "doesn't have a girlfriend". What if he's gay? Mom Carmen says we'll love him no what what. Dad doesn't agree, no gays in THIS family! her roars.
Gilberto, Ana's husband, is in the s*thouse with her because he thought she actually might be racist, and didn't support her. Violeta, the niece, observes.
The interesting thing is that many of the kids, while doing stupid or mean things, are actually typical (or stereotypical) reflections of real teenagers, who often act stupid or mean in the process of growing up. As bad as Leo and Gonzo are, they have good qualities, too. But the PARENTS on this show are generally horrendous!
Rafa talks to Enrique about Abel. He tells him he doesn’t expect him to automatically believe him. Wow, this new Rafa is a much humbler guy. He’s convinced Abel is behind Francisco’s death and that of Diego.
There’s a big Noche de Despecho planned for the 4P, and they expect a big crowd. This translates to something like the Night of Jilted Lovers or Disillusioned Lovers, and it’s in José María’s honor.
Sacramento is trying to get Cat to leave her hacienda (What? SHE is the owner of the place.) but she says she won’t go without Rocío. Rocío is determined to say to bring down Mariano. Cat thinks if she leaves her alone there with Mariano, he’ll take his spite out on her. She probably also smells something about his incestuous feelings for his sister. Cat tells Sacto that Abel came to see Mariano and she’s sure they’re up to some dark deeds.
Piruetas behaves like a complete jackass. When Manuela is almost late for their performance together because she was trying to deal with her brother’s drunken stupor, he tries to put some moves on her as a penance for being late. Their show confuses me. I thought Manuela and Piru were going to do an episode of the radionovela at the 4P. Instead Manu comes out in a schoolmarm dress with glasses. Piru comes on and rips off the dress. They do a very short dance, with Manuela in her underwear. Too bad Frigida left town. She would have stroked out if she heard about this! Later Avelino goes ballistic when he sees Piru putting some more moves on Manu in the dressing room. Big fight. Thank goodness Manuela makes the right choice and leaves with Avelino.
We get a scene right from a 1950’s Western movie. Sacramento, Rafael, Rufino, and some other gunslingers show up at the 4P. Arsenio tries to prevent their going inside. Rafa tells him he won’t go in if he tells his cowardly boss to come out. Abelardo sees what’s going on and scurries in to tell Flor. She comes out and tells them she won’t have this happening outside her club. Rafa again tells her that she needs to tell her boyfriend to stop hiding behind her skirts and come out like a man. Inside Mariano is all puckered up kissing Abel’s hindquarters about how much he’s doing for the town.
Flor goes back inside. Abel puts on the smirk when she says she needs to talk to him. She coldly tells him not to get excited. She only wants to tell him about what’s going on outside. Zahra hears about it and we get another tiresome scene of her telling everyone who will listen how afraid she is that big, bad Rafa will hurt her baby.
Rafa and Sacto make a good team. Rafa is ready to storm the place, when Sacto tells him just to wait a while. Mariano is doubtless inside, and don’t give him an excuse. But a bit later, Rafa DOES go in and fires a round into the ceiling. Sacto tells everyone to get down on the floor. Finally Abel and Rafa are face to face. When Abel calls him a criminal, Rafa responds that maybe he’s a delincuente but Abel is a lacra (a blot or blemish on society). They agree to meet alone by a riverbank. They don’t exactly go alone at first, each accompanied by a posse that searches the guys for weapons. When Arsenio worries about Abel’s safety, he tells him he has a secret that will guarantee that Rafael Urrieta won’t do anything to him.
Rafa insists that Sacto stay behind. He uses this time to insult Flor some more, saying she’s getting it on with Rafa and maybe even with the birds in Zahra’s cage. He tells her that she and Zahra have the same tastes (Rafa and Abel). I guess he thinks Zahra is sticking up for him because they’re involved. Flor tells him he has a woman who is expecting his child and a hacienda. He should go take care of that and leave her in peace. For once he seems to listen to her.
Also at the 4P, the record producer Rodolfo (another of the ranch hands from Doña Bárbara) has gone backstage to talk to Alicia. He promises her a record deal. Earlier on Abel, chest all puffed out, said he was going to pay for the recording. Enrique insisted he would pay for it. Abel sensed something a bit off about Enrique’s reactions. Enrique also asks Rodolfo some questions about how he knows Abel and what does he know about his businesses. Rodolfo isn’t happy about this, which makes me think he knows full well who Abel really is.
Alicia and Enrique have an argument when they are alone about Enrique being so suspicious, especially about Abel. She's worried he's going to sabotage her record deal. He tells her they can’t trust anyone, and that is why he told Abel that Diego had gone to the dark side and was really selling drugs instead of being undercover. This was an “Aha” moment for me because I thought Enrique was going to spill all when he talked to Abel. Enrique tells Alicia that anyone could be the capo of the cartel.
On the riverbank, Abel punches Rafa in the chest. Rafa grabs his arm, and Abel is unable to do anything at all. Then Rafa proceeds to beat the crap out of him. He tells Abel he thought he would put up a better fight, but it turns out he’s not really at his level. Abel tells him he basically let Rafa beat him up. He’s giving him a chance to finish what he didn’t do 20 years ago. “You took me to a hospital to have my mother abort me. Now you get a chance to kill me face to face. Look me in the eye, Papá!”
Now THAT was an impactado moment! Great recap, Novelera. This show really has some excitement.
I agree that Rodolfo is probably working for Abel, and Enrique is wise to be wary of him.
Is Mariano married? Girlfriend? He sure is bad, but it doesn't seem easy to keep the peace in a town where everybody has guns, and there are all these tough guys and gangs.
Well, now Zahra doesn't have to keep Abel's secret any more. But I wonder if Rafa will somehow make peace with Abel. As bad as Abel is, I'm not sure killing him would be a good move.
That's what's good about this show, you never know what's going to happen, and people keep shifting in how good or bad they are. And we really don't know what is going to happen with Flor, the main character, although maybe she could find happiness with Rafa. But he was so bad before!
I meant to say that Sacto accused Flor of getting it on with ABEL and even the birds in a cage. Not Rafa.
Hombre, Mariano was married to Lourdes. She owned a hacienda. It was pretty clear he married her for her money and her help in getting him elected mayor. Lourdes was a major b!tch. She came up with all kinds of dirty tricks to get him elected and couldn't stand the way he felt about his sister, Rocío.
Lourdes then got obsessed with trying to get the 4P shut down. She had some thugs kidnap Flor. They were supposed to beat her up and scare her into leaving town. Rocío saw something I don't remember clearly, but she followed the thugs. She saw their faces, so they put something in her eyes to blind her so she couldn't identify them.
Cat was beside herself and Mariano got it out of her what happened. Mariano made Lourdes arrange a late-night meeting to pay off the thugs. He went with her, both of them on horseback. He had one of the thugs shoot and kill Lourdes and then he himself shot and killed the thug.
It was pretty clear that Mariano had made a cost:benefit analysis of Lourdes vs Cat and was planning to make a change. He had already been coming on to Cat while Lourdes was alive. The fact that Lourdes was involved in the blinding of his precious sister tipped the scales.
So, Mariano is currently a widower.
About Manuela's show: they supposedly already perform the radio novela live at the 4P, that was one of the features Flor added when she re-opened the bar. They don't perform it on stage, but in a back room, and we've seen them perform it before and the effects Manuela's sexy voiced character in the radio novela had on Avelino. Then, a few episodes back, Manuela and Piro visited Flor, told her about the fanclub that's formed around Manuela with the fans calling her Manu-Manu and asking Flor if Manuela could perform one night on stage. Piro then detailed how he imagined the number, pretty much what we saw last night with the school theme. Flor agreed, but added if the show was a success, she'd set aside a night every week for Manuela to perform.
Things on the show are moving pretty fast now. They've done a good job resolving some of the secondary character's plotlines and shuffling them off the show; I imagine we've probably seen the last of Diana, Frigida, Ines, Ines's mother, and Lucia.
Thanks for the explanation, Novelera. I actually saw Lourdes get killed, but didn't know who she was at that point.
Per Sara's orders, Victor tries to talk Lalo into coming to live with him by saying it's making his mommy too tired to work AND take care of him.
Sara goes on an anti-Marisa rant in front of Amelia, who gently scolds her. Sara vows to get even for the humiliation and (I think) orders Yaya to seduce Ty.
Bruno goes to visit Catalina in jail, but warns her to tell no one that he is trying to help her.
Oh no! Hugo is on his way back to the US. Revenge is the game of the day...
