La Que No Podía Amar #29 Friday 2/3/12 Getting Out of Their Comfort Zone, Or On the Brink and Into the Drink

Cap. 29 (or so)

Redux: Elsie La Vaca and bull-headed Vanesa agree that Mama will hand over control of her 30% of the actionable shares of Daddy’s company to vengeance-seeking Vainie; she’ll return to Esteban, and together she and Mama’ll make Rogelio the sorriest sodbuster this side of España for having dumped Vainie on her’ vixeny backside so venally.
                                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It’s the morning after the wedding and Michael is in hangover Hell.  Tía Rosaura tells him not to get too comfortable because RoHell will no doubt kick him back to Tuxtla just like he’s done her.  Why?  AP’s being a pain.  Why?  Because Ana Paula refused to spend the night with RoHell.  Mikey says he can’t blame her.  Why should she?  Rosie says, hey, it’s expected, and if she’d only listened to me she’d know how to control--make that manage--the ogre!  Just then David and Cinthia show up.
Sin haughtily tells Mikey and Rosie the show’s over.  They can skedaddle back to whatever crack or hole they crawled out of.  Big Dave snidely remarks on how unexpectedly nice it is that Mikey’s out of jail.  “—No thanks to you, considering I was hauling crap for your company!”   Big Dave plays ignorant and says all he knows is he was driving the truck without permission.  Mikey starts to haul off and hit him but Rosie stops him as Dave hides behind Sin’s would-be skirts.  “—That’s not true and you know it!”  “—Well, prove it!  Cuz the company books say different and so do my people!”  Sin says she thought he should remember he’s still nothing more than a chauffeur.  Isn’t he going to help his sis and her bro to the helicopter for the honeymoon?  Rosie has to admit that the honeymoon’s been cancelled. Sin makes a big yuck with Big Dave about Pau’s being stood up for really reals [novia de pueblo] and start off to Bro-Hell’s study for Dave to formally say bye.
Meanwhile, in Boca del Cielo, Fermin shoos away Carmen, his D-I-L, so he can have a man-to-man with Gustavo.  He tells Gus that if he is ever able to forget AP and decides to get serious with Carmen, he wouldn’t exactly be opposed to the idea.
After Dave heads back to Boca del Cielo, Cinthia tells her brother that she is happy to hear that Bro-Hell and Ana Paula are not going on a honey-moon after all.  She asks him if that means he’s planning to divorce her.  Rog exclaims to sister Sin no way!  Where’d she ever get such a silly idea?  (A girl can always hope?)   He’s never going to divorce Paula!  Well then give me the use of your tickets?  No reason to waste them!  “—Nothing doin’.  It’s only being postponed due to my work schedule.  Now, let me get back to work.”  Sin mumbles and grumbles her way back towards the stables.
Pau is teaching Margarito math in the kitchen.  Rog rolls into the hallway and observes.  It warms the cockles of his heavy-handed heart to see her this way.  He overhears her tell Maria she can’t stand staying idle.  Again, Rog is pleased as punch to see how industrious his new bride is.  He barges in and wants a word with her.  Pau thinks he’s there to gripe at her for trying to teach the boy.  He tells her not to start accusing him before he has a chance to speak.  As far as he’s concerned, she’s the owner’s wife, La Dueña, and can do whatever she wants now.  Well, then, she wants her aunt to stay.  “--Fine!  Oh, and you look mighty fine in that dress!”  He rolls back out the way he came.  Pau mulls what he’s said over and ends up smiling and rather pleased with herself as well.
Later that morning, Sin gives a box with trinkets from the wedding to Maria to pitch out or whatever.  Maria is shocked she’d throw out the bouquet she caught at the wedding.  Well, first off, she can’t marry who she’d like to and is only dating Dave for the obvious reasons.  2ndly, she’s sure that because it’s Pau’s bouquet it will only bring her bad luck if she keeps them.  So give ‘em to Consuela who’s dying to get married (meowwww!!!), she says.  “--Or, throw ‘em out.  I’m not keeping them!”
AP comes to tell Rosie she’s allowed to stay if she wants.  Rosie is upset with Rog who’s always in such a rotten mood, but she’s anxious to…er… help her niece get over the rough spots in her marriage.  Elena says bye and Rosie takes her off to the waiting car/helicopter, or whatever.  Dany whimpers over the breakup with Mikey.  (Viewerville yells back at the screen that she doesn’t know how lucky she really is!  Dump that fool’s ass!)
Nessa, meanwhile, calls Sin and demands to know whose side she’s going to be on.  Hers, of course, says Sin—provided she helps her get back her part of the hacienda.  Of course, says Nessa.  Just make sure to get a copy of her parents’ will for the company’s lawyers to look over.  Ok.  So how’s Nessa getting on now?  Fine.  Esteban came looking to get back together according to her mama, so she’s going to consider it.  Gawd no, says Sin.  You’re not in love with him!  Yeah, agrees Nessa, but that was the stipulation she had to agree to get mama’s part of the company and have majority control.  And what’s that do for her, asks Sin.  “--It gives us the means to get even with RoHell for all the crap he’s pulled on both of us, that’s what!”  Nessa’s willing to do whatever it takes, including getting back with Esteban!
Out on the lawn of the Hacienda del Fuerte, Pau sees hubby sitting, whip in hand, and looking over the grounds with pride.  She smiles and says he was right that the beauty of the place is unique and profound.  He agrees and says perhaps the place is like him: secluded and distant.  They discuss getting familiar with the place.  It’s just like people, he says. Rogelio wants do-overs.  “--You have to take the opportunity to get to know them.  Like you.  And, I’m sure that behind that angry little girl, so spirited and determined to fight foreverything, that there’s a romantic and tender woman.”  Perhaps, he offers, they can use the coming year to get to know each other better.  Yep, just as if they’d only just met.  Forget everything else she knows about him.
Pau melts a bit and says Rog’s much more charmer than ogre.  She’d like to know that charming Rogelio Montero.  “—Are you ready to do that?”  Pau stands up and gently takes the whip out of his hands.  She smiles down at him and says she’d at least like to try—but she’ll need his help or she wouldn’t be able to manage it otherwise.  “--Count on it!”  (Viewerville isn’t quite sure what she’s thinking, tho’ we all know exactly what Rog thinks!) They share a long and meaningful look. He agrees and kisses her hand in a way only Latin lovers can.  (Sigh!)  They continue to stare into each other’s’ eyes.
Back of the stables, Rosie is sauntering along and taking in all of what she—er—Paula is now owner of.  She spies Conned running out of the place and shoos her back up to the house.  Out strolls Efrain.  She starts flirting.  Sin comes along.  He proceeds to take Rosaura out for a stroll through the fields just to get Sin’s goat.
Back in Tuxtla, Mercedes stops in for a chat with Esteban.  They goof around about being novios and kiss just as Vainessa enters the doorway.  She sees them together this way and backs out immediately, thinking the two really are dating.  She heads back down the hallway, frustrated that plan A is a no-go.  Plan B will take some thought.
RoHell suggests that he and Pau start first by traveling through the whole of Hacienda Hell-Fuerte’s domains.  He will take her to the Lakes of Mirabella.  “How does that sound?  Would you like to see them?”  Sure!  Then, that where they’ll start, he says.  Dimples and sparkling eyes fill the whole of our tv screens as Uni breaks to pay a bit more of its hellacious production costs.
As we return from making our various pit stops, RoHell asks if Pau isn’t a tad scared to go there alone with him.  She says actually, she is.  He says that her sincerity, which he really likes about her, is a dual edged sword actually.  Not to worry, though, cuz he likes that about her and henever wants her to stop being honest with him.  (Ok.  Looks like they’re off to a good start--so far as it goes.)
Back in Boca del Cielo, Big Dave has a meet with Troublemaker Peone.  (Juan?)  Big Dave wants to continue the construction at night.  (Not sure what they’re really arguing about.)  Troublemaker Guy says he’ll help agitate but he wants his palms greased beforehand--not after like Big Tricky Dave wants to do.  Dave gives in and opens his wallet.
That night, Juan shows up at Fermin’s.  Gus leaves to do something with Carmen and Melina.  Juan tells Fermin a pack of lies about how Gus has tricked them all and he’ll prove it.  The hotel’s construction was supposed to be stopped, but they’re working on the hotel at night all the same.  Must be that Gus is in cahoots with Big Dave and is getting paid under the table to allow them to build secretly at night.  (Wouldn’t it be obvious after a while that the building is getting built since you’d notice the added construction at least every few days or so?)  He tells Fermin to come with him and see what’s up with his own eyes.
Back at Hell-Fuerte, BroHell rolls into the kitchen all excited and tells Maria he wants the best picnic food packed cuz he and his wife are going for a few days to Mirabella Lakes.  Sin is speechless.  He asks if she’d like to come too.  Sin says not on your life!  I wouldn’t go with her to the corner!   Rog ignores her tantrum.  Maria says give Sin time to get used to the idea that there’s another lady of the house on the place now.  He says of course, cuz there is!  My wife!  He continues gabbing with Maria about wanting to impress Pau with all of it.
Juan takes the fishermen to the worksite where they hear construction going on.  He lies to Fermin about hearing Gus himself planning with somebody on his cel to allow the work to continue at night.  Fermin says he can’t believe Gus would be double-dealing like that and plans to find out more.
Back at Hell-Fuerte, Pau reminds Rosie to be respectful towards Maria since she’s like a second mother to Rog.  They discuss the trip to the lake country and Pau mentions she’s not eager to be alone with him there.  Rosie offers to keep her company and she accepts.
Dave comes out and starts yelling at the fishermen.  He’s paid too much money to Gus for them to be allowed to harass him like this, he yells.  Go gripe at Gus if they don’t like the hotel being built!!
Vainessa storms back to Mama’s and complains to Elsie that Esteban wasn’t honest with her.  He’s got a girlfriend and doesn’t appear to be heartbroken at all!  Elsie calls Stevie and says they need to talk face to face and pronto!  He has to send Mercedes home and cancel their movie/video? Date so he can meet with La Vaca.
Fermin, meanwhile, wakes his houseguest out of a deep sleep to accuse him of betraying their trust cuz the hotel is still being constructed and they have proof!  Don Fermin tells Gus there are a number of things the others are accusing him of that just don’t add up.  He no longer trusts Gus and wants him gone!  Gus is fine with that.  He swears that he hasn’t lied to them at all and will prove it.
Maria and Pau talk about finally getting a chance to see ol Rog’s good side.  Doesn’t happen very often, says Pau.  Maria, tho’, excitedly says it’s been happening more and more since he met Paula.  Maria expects only good things to come of it from here on out!   She adds that the place he’s taking her is a special place and to expect the best.  Pau says she’s afraid that Maria’s expecting too much of her, trying to change RoHell into another man.  No, assures Maria, he’s been changing ever since she showed up.  He’d have never allowed therapy before, and the wedding and reception was one major blow-out!  Can’t she see that?  He really wants to impress her.
Rog rolls up a second or two later and wants to speak to Pau.  Maria scurries out of the way.  He sees the religious print Pau’s started framing for herself.  He objects.  Obviously, says Pau, from the communion pictures she’s seen at the house, he had a religious upbringing.  Yeah, but he lost faith a long time ago, he says.  Maria prayed her lungs out and still he’s seen no deliverance from this wheelchair.  “I cannot walk. --Your god, Nana, didn’t listen to you.”
Back at Fermin’s place, Carmen comes out and starts defending Gus to him.  Gus insists he has nothing to hide or to lie about.  He’s packed up to go.  He doesn’t want them fighting on his account and says he’ll leave his house, but he’s not leaving town till he can prove his innocence!
Back in Hell’s Kitchen, Pau continues to gently chide Rog for his lack of faith.  “--Dios gives us all challenges.  Besides Maria, there’s you.  You can pray!  In the meantime, if this is really my home, then I should be allowed to have pictures of the god I do believe in.”  Rog sort of nods cuz he can’t argue  with that logic.
Sin, meanwhile, is still down and the stables, and sees Effer and Rosie chatting under the moonlight.  She says something snitty.  Effer tells her not to talk to AP’s aunt that way.  Sin snaps back that no peon’s going to tell her what to do! --Peone? Rosie, negatively impactada, starts checking for cooties and puts distance between her and Effer immediately. He reintroduces himself to her as the ranch’s foreman.  Sin giggles at the coup she just pulled on Effer.  He is just a simple employee of the Monteros’, she snickers. “--Nobody gets spared here!” [no deja titere con cabeza= lit., he doesn’t leave a puppet with a head].   She walks away chuckling, and, muy pleased with herself.
Back in Hell’s kitchen again, Pau offers to make Rog’s favorite cake and Conned comes in with some kind of special beef for some dish.  Connie asks again for permission to date Effer.  Rog is in a good mood and says yes, sure.  M-grito wants to go with them on the trip. Again, Rog is feelin’ good and says why not?  Pau asks if her aunt can come, too.  Wow!  They’re all high on excitement.  Sure, he says.  Let her come, too!  Happy, happy!  Joy, joy!
Out back again, Rosie gripes at Effer for supposedly leading her on and letting her think he was a cattlerancher friend of RoHell’s.  Effer wants to know when he told her that?  Never mind, it’s enough to get his motor humming.  He makes a pass at her. (What?  Is he on auto-pilot or what?  Rosaura??  Puhleeese!)  Rosie scoots out of his way.  He repositions his hat on his cocky head--obviously pleased with the image of himself she’s left him with, and struts off.  (Aye, ¡Fabian!  What.  A. Clown!  Such a honey!  If we only could see you without that continual 5-day grizzle-growth and a bit more hair.   Hmmmmm.)
Sin is waiting for Effer at the stables and lights into him for flirting with Rosaura as well as Con.  He says what’s the problem?  He has to be faithful but she can have a boyfriend? Let him have a life if that’s the way it is.  She swears Dave’s not a boyfriend, not really.  It’s not like that.  What’s she doing with that jerk anyway if he isn’t her boyfriend, he wants to know.  She explains that Bro-Hell’s forcing her to go out with him because David’s his business partner.  Uh, yeah.  Right, he says.  Sin reminds him that nobody can know what there is between her and Effer.  No duh, he says.  “--Whether because of your brother or whatever else, the truth is your going out with him!”  Just then Conned runs up and says she’s excited because RoHell just gave her and Effer permission to date.  Effer puts his arms around Connie’s shoulder and walks off with her.  “--Excuse us, Srita!  This is something I’d like to celebrate over with my girlfriend.”
The next morning, the gang arrives at Montebello Lakes.  Pau remembers her first meeting with Gus which sort of clouds the mood for her, especially while Rog is trying to be so chivalrous.  He tells her this is his favorite place and he’s glad to have the chance to share it with her.   She pulls away a bit and says she can understand why he loves the place so much.  He remembers the bonfires and picnics during the overnights he’d spend there.  He tells her how happy he is she’s there with him.  She wants him to enjoy it.  He says that’s exactly what he’s doing now.
M-grito wants to go swimming.  Rosie reminds him to put his trunks on and then drags him off with her.
At the same time, Sin is on the phone with Vainessa who is enraged to hear that Rog has taken the nurse to their favorite place!  Sin assures her it won’t be the same as before (romantic?)  since her brother can’t walk, you know?  Doesn’t matter to Nessie.  She’s pissed!  How dare he?!!  Sorry, says Sin, but come to think of it, he really seems to be in love with AP.  Just what Vainessa wanted to hear—not!!  “—Don’t put me into a worse humor than I am already!”  Click!
Back at lakeside, Pau tells Rosie that she’s feeling bad cuz everything there reminds her of Gus.  She can’t seem to get him out of her head.  He’s there with her always!
Nessa is still in a snit over RoHell.  She tells Mama she’s going to the office and will learn as much as she can so she’ll know just exactly what their business relationship with RoHell is all about.
Pau and RoHell decide to go out in the canoe.  (M-grito still is in his skivvies.)  Pau brings a picnic basket along.  (OMG!  I can’t believe she’s getting into that canoe and she’s wearing 6 inch high espadrilles, and with ankle high laces, no less!!  She’s asking for trouble for sure!)  Ok.  Rog wants to row on his own.  Hugo stays on the shore with the others.  They head off into the center of the lake.  She’s up and about the wobbling canoe, trying to steady herself, and looking at her surroundings.  How deep is it?  (Who cares unless you can’t swim?)  She stands up to look around.  He sneaks a longing look up at her.  She has her clunky espadrilles in her hand and tries adjusting her stance or something.  All of a sudden it’s whoops-a-daisy and she’s overboard and under the surface.  Oh, hell!!  Rog starts screaming for her.  He knows he can’t do much else….
What a good recap Jardinera. Did it not occur to Rog to tell Ana to sit her cupcake ass down?
I'll praise you more fully when I am actually at a computer. iPhone's and chubby fingers don't make a great pair.
Thanks, J. Great job as always.
There was something about the way that AP went ass over elbow into the water that made me giggle. Don't want anything to happen to our girl, but gee that didn't look like a natural fall or even a very good stunt one.
Am I wrong, or is Tia occasionally nice to Margarito? And a peon, no less. (Loving the scenes between her and Efraim.)
Great recap Jardinera. I loved the part where you say he kisses her hand in a way only Latin lovers can. So true. I do think that since he's in a chair, he can't reach her face so he's left with the hand, but he does it so nicely.
This episode is a complete 180 degrees from yesterdays. I really am glad that it was pleasant. They must have heard me complain about it yesterday, lol.
Thanks, Jardinera. So...no honeymoon but day trips. I love those. Staycations ! Yay. Gee, that canoe on the lake took me right back in time to Bunny Hollow at Camp Moseywood in the Poconos. Ah, Girl Scout Camp....good, weird times. I can't believe that RoHell took the kid and Tia along. He must be mellowing ...just like the Beast. Beauty will surely start to warm up to him soon.
Thank you so much Jardinera for this great snarky recap. Loved your title. Yes, Tia is occasionally nice to Margarito, but only recently. I love how the Tia was flirty flirty with Effer, lol. I am glad Sin set her straight. That Tia thought she had hooked the big one.
So Rohell seems to be letting loose a little. Hopefully we see more of that and less of the whip.I am glad the Cupcake took it away from him again.
Dave is so smarmy. And to pay Juan to lie about Gus. I can't believe Fermin beleives Dave over Gus. Hope Gus can prove that he is not dealing with Dave.
What did Vainy think, that Esteban would wait for her forever? Even though he is not really dating Mersnotty, I think he should. Vainy is not worth the time or the trouble for hot Esteban to be mooning over.
And Miguel needs to straighten out, before he totally ruins his life. And you are so right, Dany can do so much better than whining Miguel.
Jardinera, great recap, thanks.
I loved all of the "v" words describing Vainy.
Has Tia ever been married? Why does she think she can give Cupcake advice?
Rosemary
Gracias, Jardinera.
I can't stand those clunky, wedge-soled shoes that novela actresses wear all too frequently. And who is crazy enough to wear shoes like that while in a rowboat?
Vainessa truly is delusional. Does she really think she can get Esteban back so easily when she went to all that trouble to dump him?
Excellent recap Jardinera. Yes, AP and Rog made nice with each other practically the whole episode. How refreshing. He did go a bit overboard with the whole "no religion in my house!" thing. Jeez! Take a chill pill Rogelio.
I burst out laughing and didn't stop for a long while when AP did her awkward cannon ball into the lake. LOL! Let's hope she's better saving herself in still lake water than she is in raging river water, cause Gus is nowhere around.
Speaking of Gus, it was totally out of character for Fermin to believe the troublemaker fisherman over Gus. Fermin himself has badmouthed that guy. Glad Carmen stuck up for Gus. If things don't work out for him and AP in the end, she will be a good partner for him.
That actress is so pretty, but I've only ever seen her in two other tns. In Querida Enemiga, she divorced her horrible husband to raise her two kids on her own, and at the end became the girlfriend of the galan when the heroine chose galan #2 (Chef Hawt). Looks like a similar situation might happen here. The other tn I've seen her in is MEPS, where she played a character in flashback/the past-- the young maid seduced and impregnanted by the parton, and driven off by the patrona, who later gives birth to the main villain.
I don't think Tia is nice to Margarito. She's only nice for show because AP loves him so much, and because she's trying to sweet talk him to get him out of the way while Rog romances AP.
Thanks, Jardinera, for another primo recap with a super title.
Glad to hear Cin set Tia R. straight about Effer. He and his smirky smile is one of the highlights for me.
Can't believe AP was standing up in the boat?! One would hope for more common sense.
La Paloma
I forgot to add in my last post, just because Rohell's legs don't work he may be able to swim. Your body is weightess in the water and as long as your arms work, you are ok. I know vets from the Iraq and Afghanistan war who are able to swim and do water therapy even though they are paralyzed from the waist down.Being a vet myself, I volunteer at the VA Hospital here and learned about the therapy. I didn't know that could be done.
All right! Thanks Jardinera!
I love seeing Tia get her cougar on with Efraín. Too bad Sin had to go and spoil it for them!
The cupcake name is so perfect! Especially in that rose dress with cream frosting LOL!
So it's actually sinking in to Sin that Rogelio might be in love? I never thought she'd get it.
Yep, Tia seemed to take on a bit of a mothering role with Margarito - pretty amazing. Everyone having such good time at the lakes? Seems ominous to me!
Go check out Lagunas de Montebello National Park in Google Earth. There are some amazing 360 degree views of several of the lakes. It's right on the Guatemalan border.
Audrey
Jardinera, enjoyed the recap. Thanks for the laughs.
Ana Paula has already been saved once from drowning. You'd think she'd be extra careful in the boat. But, no, she stands up not once, but twice. I guess Rogelio will throw her an oar.
Efrain is so funny. Don't remember his exact words when Tia got snitty, but it sounded something like I'm way too sexy to be some boring bigshot.
I hope Sin thinks before throwing in with Vainessa. No way should she give Vain a copy of her parents' will. Her brother may be a tyrant, but he's family.
I'm still pulling for Miguel, but Dany needs to take a break from him. He's so afraid of being a loser that he's acting like a loser. The main cause of that accident was the oncoming car in the wrong lane, but that fact never came out.
Time change was announced? LQNPA to move to 10 pm eastern time?
I think I'll be watching in bed!
Audrey
Rogelio may very well be able to swim. But if he has to use his arms to rescue AP, and his legs don't work, I don't see how he'd manage very well.
I also don't think that Sin should be making any plans with Vain against her brother, but I do think that she should hire her own lawyer to look into the inheritance issue and fight Rogelio for it if she has to. It's just not right that as a grown woman, she has to depend on her big brother and can't access her own money.
Awesome recap Jardinera. So Rog is trying to make an effort to get to know AP but her sulking over her week long love Gus put a damper to the romantic atmosphere.
LOL at Efrain bursting Rosaura's bubble. That scene was so funny.
I have to say that M-grito was for sure shouting his lines. I had to adjust the sound on my TV a couple of times. I laughed at the scene when he went to hug Rog but stopped when Rog looked at him peculiarly.
Now AP is the woman who can't stay in a canoe. What will Rog do?
Hi, all! A rather boring episodio, at least till the end. I was hoping for more spark in the sparkin' between this couple, if ya know what I mean. Oh well. The one bright spot was Fabian Robles again.
=============
TV Guide shows Familia running two hours mghtly through the first half of the month. Ugh! Poor recappers! I thought the narrator said the time change was through Feb. and I got the impression it would only be temporary.
Why the heck is Uni moving the show to 10 pm? What's up with that.
Someone needs to keep this girl AWAY from water... it's La Que No Podia Nadar (my favorite recap quote, was that yours Sara?), the sequel!
At least we've seen the last of the Pepto dress (please, God). I'm no fashionista, but that was horrible to look at...
AnotherAmy
Great recap Jardinera, I share with you the love for Fabián Robles! That man can do no wrong.
I was also laughing when I saw Ana Paula falling into the lake the first time. This girl has a knack for getting almost killed by drowning.
Too bad for the recappers of Familia that they will face double duty for the next month. I wonder if Univision is trying to rush that novela because it's so long.
I imagine they might want to go faster to get to "Por Ella Soy Eva" sooner. Eva is going to start very soon in México but, even with double episodes, Univision will have to wait a few months to air it there. And I don't know how Familia is doing ratings wise but I imagine Jaime Camil and Lucero in a comedy might be in theory a draw for audiences so Uni must be wanting to cash in.
Jarocha
Thanks for the recap Jardinera. Glad it was more pleasant than Thursday though a bit dull.
It seems like its just a matter of time before Cupcake actually likes Rog and then finds out all the horrible things to did to pressure her into marriage. And then Gus will show up (all speculation).
Remember when Telemundo started La Casa de a Lado? Each of Univision's novelas did a two-hour episode run for a while during the early weeks of that series.
We can expect this to happen every time TM has a new 10PM series. This is about Univision maintaining its ratings lead.
AP's pink dress: I am no serious fashionista, but bell sleeves like that don't belong on a short dress. Not to mention that I despise the color pink.
As to Sinthia's legal issue about her inheritance, she wouldn't have this problem in the US. It is illegal here to make an inheritance conditional in any way on marital status although -- quite frankly -- if she manages money like she manages her sex life it's a good thing she doesn't control major sums of money.
Thanks all, for dropping by to cast the appropriate catcalls at your favorite celluloid characters once again..
=============
Sara:
IMO Uni needs to return to the 90 min episodes in order to keep the pace up for this one. If they don't get to the core of this love story soon, it'll be La Que No Se Podía Fumar!
=======
Cathyx: The hand approach must be the result of being wheelbound. That he does it at all shows his deep-seated desire to be Da Man for AP.
=======
Ooohh! Good theory, Karen!
======
Susanlynn: I went to girlscout camp in the boonies of MO in somebody's cow pasture near a creek. Not quite the same ambiance......
==========
Jarocha: If Familia is as much a hit down there as it is up here, then why race through it?
==========
Madelein/ViviDC: I'm hoping RoHell jumps in to save her myself. I was thinking the same thing about the water and all. I should have laughed at her cannonballing, but I actually felt RoHell's panic and fear of being useless to save Pau. This may be the jolt he needs to put that returning feeling in his legs to good use.
I am very much of the opinion that his paralysis is psychological. He does have feeling in his legs, but something in his mind is keeping him from being able to walk.
Without spoilers we know this will end before the last chapter of the series.
Karen~~~I think you're schedule seems right. That is exactly what transpired in Amor Real. The heroine was so in love with her Onetruelove. Then, her mother made him disappear and married her off in a hurry to a newly rich guy . She hated her hubby, but slowly started to warm to him. Then, the Onetruelove showed up. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The Pepto Bismo dress reminds me of when I first started dating Hub , and I told his mother that I liked pink. Big mistake. For years, I received pink slippers, pink bathrobes, pink nighties. Luckily, I never received a dress as bad as that one. It really set me off pink for a looong time.
Urban A: ITSA re: Sin and her wastrel ways. I wonder how old she's supposed to be in this show. Early 20's like Paula?
=====
Niecie in MD: Effer is a hoot! Too sexy for his sombrero!
=========
Pirate Babe: ITA! Ha! Week-long love with Gus. Yep.
=========
La Paloma/Trav. Lady: She was being such a wet blanket once she got there, I sort of figure she deserved the dunking. He's there pulling out all the stops trying to really impress her and thinking he's getting a fair chance at starting from scratch with her while she's secretly "woe is me"-ing over a supposed dead guy that she barely knew. She wasn't playing fair and I was ready to slap her and knock her into that lake myse'f.
Vain and Sin and that whole group are older than AP. Seven years ago AP was a child. Seven years ago Sin was out dating, partying, and practically engaged to Bruno.
It doesn't matter if Sin would waste her money. (We actually haven't seen any evidence of her being a big spender, so I'm not convinced of that.) She should have the right to choose what she does or doesn't so with it. She's an adult. Just like folks say that Rogelio won't have the motivation to be nice if everyone says he won't change. Well Sin can't become a responsible person if she's not given responsibility.
ViviDC: Well said, amiga!
Recap great as usual, Jardinera. Love your apt descriptions, like," It warms the cockles of his heavy-handed heart to see her this way." about Rohell.
My favorite is probably about Dani, "Viewerville yells back at the screen that she doesn’t know how lucky she really is! Dump that fool’s ass!" That is so true, I was thinking the same thing.
The pink dress is hideous. They keep dressing her in inappropriate for age clothing. Except I can't think what age that dress is appropriate for.
If they put the show on at 10pm I will have to watch it the next day, why are they doing this? Is it because El Talizman is having trouble in the ratings and 9pm is primo time? Any thoughts?
Thanks so much for the recap! My DVR cut off before AP fell out of the boat, so hopefully they will replay that scene on Monday.
I kinda like the pink outfit. It reminds me of a dress my mother sewed for me way back in 1978 ... except mine was red and white gingham with blue trim.
If Ro-heel can swim and he saves her, will that make him equal to Gus? I'm betting on Margarito, though. He's already got his trunks on.
Aleta
I think I would be kinder to Sin if she weren't such a mean bitch. I see girls like this every day and they do emotional damage to people. Luckily Ana Pau is strong. But believe me when I tell you girls like Vainy and Sin make people's lives a living hell. I think this is a personality flaw which pre-dates her being trapped on the hacienda. And seriously, if Rohell gives Tia a pass because Ana Pau loves her (poor deluded child), then Sin should be making nice with Ana Pau. But noooooo, Sin doesn't want to have anything to do with a subhuman sirvienta/gata.
Yeah, maybe I still have some issues from middle school.
Jardinera, I agree Dani should "dump his fool's ass."
And I forgot to ask-- I really don't remember Cupcake throwing the bouquet and Sin catching it.
Welcome, Aleta! I'm sure we'll see the tumble many times between now and El FIN. More than likely it will begin the episodio on Monday.
===========
EMarie: I may start Z-zzzing myself half-way through it and have to rely on recording it. Since it's sweeps month, maybe they figure 2 hrs. of Familia nightly will lock in an American audience. Dunno.
==============
Sara: I can totally relate to the middle school bitch bullies. I often wonder if they ever get their just deserts, get wise, redeem themselves or just continue as a blight upon the earth.
--
I don't remember the bouquet being thrown, either, but then I was possibly on a bio break at the time. ; > /
BTW, Aleta, that dress reminds me of a strawberry dream cupcake with french vanilla cream frosting. LOL! I had the same "70's Show" flashback when I saw Paula wearing it.
Rogelio is quite the high school bully himself. Remember the scene when he, David, Sin and Vain enjoyed rubbing in Bruno's face that he's not one of the cool kids (meaning rich) anymore, and therefor can't sit at the cool kid table...uh, restaurant table.
I really don't see much of a difference between bratty, bully Rogelio, and bratty, bully Cynthia, except that Rogelio has all the power. Perhaps Maria should have doled out a few more spankings to both of them when she was raising them, instead of being so kind and understanding all the time. :)
They never showed the bouquet toss. The didn't show us much more of the wedding after the Federico fiasco.
I had the exact same feelings about that scene Vivi! I guess I'm having a hard time separating the character Rohell from the actor Jorge cause the actor Jorge uses those puppy dog eyes to perfection and I completely forget his character is a mean douche. I guess I just made myself sound like a nutcase.
Thanks for the clarification about the bouquet. I was pretty sure I had watched every episode and I had no recollection of a bouquet being thrown.
I really hope Rog is the one to save cupcake. She will warm to him more if it is.
As far as Rosaura/Margarito go, I think they will be providing the necessary comic relief when other scenes get too serious. Maybe he reminds her of Miguel when he was a boy. I also loved that scene when Margarito was told that he could come to the lake and he went to hug Rogelio but then realized that wouldn't be a good idea and just pats him on the shoulder.
Thanks so much for the recap, Jardinera! Very clever writing as usual!
This was a nice episode; kind of snoozy, but at least they were trying to move forward instead of sniping at each other.
I feel Rohell's dispair at the end of the episode when Paula falls in, and I agree, her fall was so odd! Let's see how it all pans out tomorrow.
As for Sinthia, I don't feel as sorry for her as I should, because she is so relentlessly, stupidly, bitchy. Doesn't she see that Paula is her ticket outta there? Rohell is very disposed to do a lot of things he wouldn't EVER do before, all to impress Paula. (Like put away his whip.) Sinthia could exploit that, but no. Instead she's just mean.
As for Sinthia's inheritance, I agree with everyone else, Rohell had no business withholding it. If he is concerned about her squandering it or somehow negatively impacting his half of the fortune through her mismanagement or stupidity, he should have been prepping her years ago on how and what to do. Or at the very least, given her some hope. "If you do this and this (concrete, specific tasks to show she has a clue of what to do) then you can have your half." But he just taunts her and tells her she's not ready but does NOTHING to push her along. I'm sure she's not ready, but just telling her she's no good at it or not ready isn't enough. He needs to sh*t or get off the pot with her.
As far as Rohell being mean to Bruno (in particular that one scene where they were at dinner and Bruno was not invited), I get the feeling that there is a long, bitter history there that we aren't supposed to know yet. (No spoilers, this is just my feeling.) And also, Bruno gives it back--his barbs about Rohell never again being "up to the task" (if you know what I mean) to making a woman happy were cruel as well. (But then again, Rohell whipped him . . . ) But I think these guys are always doing and saying douchebag things to each other. The dynamic is very different between Bruno and Rohell and AP and Sinthia. AP has done nothing to Sinthia other than be a "gata" and to have caught Rohell's eye. That's her great sin. Sinthia is a total b*tch to her for that.
Wonderful insights Elvira!
Thanks for the stupendous recap Jardinera. I enjoyed the show immensely (well maybe the fishermen rabble-rousing scenes dragged a little) and your writing is always the frosting on the cupcake!
For some reason, this struck me as particularly funny:
"Out on the lawn of the Hacienda del Fuerte, Pau sees hubby sitting, whip in hand, and looking over the grounds with pride. "
And I absolutely loved:
"Dimples and sparkling eyes fill the whole of our tv screens "
So true! And it really makes me smile and mist up a little when it happens. LOL at myself......
I don't think Cinthia is a mean bitch. I think she's a somewhat of a lost soul (like her brother) that acts that way. We see Maria giving Rogelio all this good advice, I'd like to see her give a little to Cinthia. And, I wish Maria would talk to Rogelio about how to treat Cinthia as well as Ana Paula.
Ana Paula's dress was a little over the top but I enjoyed it. It was very retro. Aleta, I also had a dress that was similar in style many, many years ago. I loved that dress. And Ana Paula's dress is perfect for a cupcake!
"Effer is a hoot! Too sexy for his sombrero!" Agree 100%! When Effen walked away hand in hand with Tia and then shrugged his shoulders at Cinthia, I really giggled.
"I actually felt RoHell's panic and fear of being useless to save Pau". So true, Jardinera! This is what makes this scene so riveting. I'm trying hard not to look ahead at next week, I was so affected. LOL at myself x 2!
Jardinera, I don't believe there was a bouquet toss. I didn't leave the TV for one second and I swear it didn't happen. Not only that, why would Cindy have even participated? She has been so disdainful, I would imagine she would have stayed way in the background to avoid catching the darn thing.
Cracks me up when you say, "Back in Hell’s Kitchen, ..." My sister lives over there and that's all I can think. "Oh, West 44th St."
If Rog can manage to save the Cupcake, then that puts him on equal footing with Gus. (did somebody say this already?) After the initial panic of la idiota standing up in a boat (who does this, anyway?) and pitching overboard, I remembered that old Rog actually did stand up on his pins when he got good and mad at Rosaura one day. So, maybe the adrenaline will perform a miracle. Or, as someone else, more practical than I, already mentioned, he could shove her an oar.
Elvira: AP will have to de-male-chauvinize Rog before he'll prep his sis for anything but being his security blanket IMHO.
============
Barb: I sort of think that Maria might have tried to be a life coach to ol' Sin, but Sin never has taken it. On the other hand, there's a special bond between Maria and Rog which also sometimes happens IMHO between a mother figure and a son, surrogate or otherwise. Leastwise, that's the idea I got. ; ? )
=============
LXV: Agness -- Ha! You're on my wavelength! Exactly what I was thinking - and I was remembering the rough neighborhood that was supposed to have been decades ago--kind o' where all the slumming takes place--or the commingling amongst the hired help.
Hell's Kitchen is valiantly gentrifying although my sister's apt is rent-controlled (and she needs it). Ever since the Disney-fication of Times Square, things have never quite been the same. It's still an interesting neighborhood though, despite all the new money.
Great recap, Jardinera.
Funny about all the pink dress comments. I laughed when Rohell's eyes lit up when he saw her in it and told her how pretty she looked in it when it looks like a dress for a 10 year old. But it's interesting that Rohell is drawn to the complexity of her personality --that she is both sweet and sassy, tender and tough, a nurse and a cupcake--which is what he expressed in his letter.
I've become hooked on LQNPA after watching LA CASA DE AL LADO, which started off well and then turned into a ridiculous cartoon. I'm hoping for the reverse for this --that it will only get better since the central issue of their relationship is an interesting one. Plus I love Jorge's acting in this part.
It's interesting that Rohell calls her Paula, while Gustavo calls her Ana.
This is in true romance novel fashion where the hero has his special name for the heroine. As for her only knowing Gustavo for a week,it's definitely a case of "love at first sight" -especially for an inexperienced and viginial young girl. (Another romance novel convention).
I agree with the comments that Paula and Rohell will wind up together while Gustavo will end up with Carmen. I'm also betting that Cinthia winds up with David. I dont think she has the courage to wind up with Efrain.
Everyone is forgetting that we do not know what is in the Will. For all we know, Sin gets nothing, or there is some other stipulation. There must be a reason to keep that mean spirited Sin around.
Rosemary #1
I think that is a very good point Rosemary #1. That the will was mentioned is important. I had actually sort of forgotten it. Yeah... I have swiss cheese memory. I am very interested to see what Vaca e Hija Inc. and Sin come up with for revenge.
That's why I love this place so much. We nitpick which makes everything twice as fun. I hope I'm making sense.
I would love to see AP end up with Rohell (they need to save each other!), but I don't think it can happen because of the predictable TN math: (just speculating)
Girl and boy meet+ fall in love at first sight + a few happy scenes of them together-then persons in their circles torment boy and girl and try to keep them apart-and someone or both gets married to the wrong person in civil ceremonies of course= then after great tribulation boy and girl separate from their wrong partners and marry in the end. So she will have to end up with Gus.
(Teresa seemed to be a departure but if you examine it closely you'll see it wasn't. She married Art in a church and stayed with him, and the Ana Brenda character Aurora ends up with Mariano whom she fell in love with at first site, so in reality it wasn't a departure).
Sin and Efrain are the star crossed lovers-something bad may happen to him, especially since he is a rascal. I don't think Sin is an evil person that will end up unredeemed in the end. David is evil, he will come to a bad end, so he can't end up with Sin.
So the math in summary:
Church weddings stay together; love at first site ends up together.
I totally agree with your TN assessment. But I am hoping that this time it will be different. This writer seems to have a bit of a dark side, maybe she wants to explore different themes and outcomes this time.
I know it's bucking TN convention, but honestly, Gus just isn't enough of a character to get the girl. He's done absolutely nothing for her besides jump in the river and knit his eyebrows together. He's too much of a lame victim.
And speaking of eyebrows, I predict the Miguel character will be completely rehabilitated as the good brother and this transformation will be signaled by the elimination of that annoying unibrow. They often do this for the heroine when her life situation changes, why not for the gents?
Jardinera I always love your recaps. You know that from my feedback from previous novelas.
Apparently on the rancho, they've never heard of life jackets. Moral of the story: If you're paraplegic, don't get in a boat without one, and if you're not, don't wear dumb ass shoes or stand up in a row boat while you're in dreamland and with a guy who is incapable of saving your ass when you do a cannon ball.
Yes, Miguel is due for the supporting actress makeover.
Lmao at LXVs comment about jumping in the river and knitting his brows. Lmao at Dona Gringuitas take on the entire boat scene.
I am one who is hoping they don't go with TN convention.
Tks Jardinera, a good one.
I think AP should really take swimming lessons. And I guess she hasn't heard that the only one that can stand up in a boat is Geo. Washington. I think it will be Rogelio that saves her with the help of the oar & hanging on to the side of the boat, his arms are very strong.
Cinthia doesn't know where the trash is? throw your own damn flowers away.
I'm looking forward to Maria putting Tia in her place.
Efrán is really funny, toying with all the ladies, even Tia. He's enjoying himself immensely.
Hand kissing, the Latins have it down pat, but remember JFK Jr kissing Carolyn's leaving the church? So romantic.
Regarding whether Cupcake will end up with Rohell or Gustavo: I think it's Rohell, but of course nobody will know until the last Capitulo airs:
This story follows the romance novel model in many ways, and going with that, it's Rohell all the way. She met him first, locked horns with him first. They had "chemistry" right off. So much of our air time has been devoted to Rohell and Ana Paula and what's going to happen with them. I don't expect that to change. With all that time invested in the Rohell/Ana Paula relationship (its ups and downs) makes me think it's inevitable, but they will torture us for another 100+ episodes until we get the true happy ending.
The "Amor Real" model (girl has "true love," a sweet decent—but poor—guy, must marry some rich guy she doesn't like, eventually falls for the rich guy with sweet poor guy eventually appearing to muck up the works) seems to be working here too. But who knows?
Plus, let's be honest, it's Jorge Salinas vs. José Ron, and I think José Ron is adorable and I'm a fan of his, but he isn't the big name that Salinas is. I think the audience has certain expectations due to Salinas's name (and his show-stealing), and so far the writing in this TN has done nothing to disabuse us of these expectations.
But who knows? LOL
Emarie- In at least two tns many of us have seen in recent years, they did not stick with this convention of the love at first sight guy being the ultimate guy the heroine marries/stays with- Amor Real and Querida Enemiga. So I really don't know what to expect. The mere fact that they are giving SO much time to Rogelio & AP, vs Gus & AP, says to me that in the end it will be Rogelio and AP walking/rolling down the isle. Not a spoiler, just an educated.
I don't see how Gus is a wimp. He's stood up to David and the powers that be, and never gives up. I like him. He may not be as sexy and magnetic as Rogelio, but he's cute, kind, hard working, and determined.
I agree with the Amor Real ending & there will be a church ceremony in the last chapter. AP will probably get pregnant at the 1st congress of the dimpled ones.
Vivi, I agree with you, and I agree with you about Gus. I like the actor and there are a lot of things to like about Gustavo too. As I've mentioned before, I am showing this show to one of my sisters (who doesn't know Spanish) and while we are both enjoying Rohellio a lot, we comment frequently about how Gustavo just keeps on getting cuter and cuter.
But, Rohellio is more complex, and therefore more interesting.
Thanks, Vivi, I was going to mention AR and Teresa (IMHO) as well. Also, this invalided galan has been written differently than the earlier versions, so anything goes this time around. I'm personally glad when we can keep guessing outcomes. Ron is a definite good guy here, but he doesn't have the on-screen presence to carry off the lead. If he and AC were supporting characters, then sure, it could be considered, but I'd personally choose Esteban/Marco Mendez for her opposite. He'd have more chemistry and presence. I don't know why they don't give him a really romantic role in these things.
You all have seen more TN's than I have, and this one sounds like it is a remake. It will likely keep me guessing until the end. I thought Teresa would end up with Mariano, and I was wrong about that. It's nice to be surprised!
I find the weddings at the end of many of the TNs anticlimactic and awkward, I'm not sure why.
I think that the topbilled actor always gets the girl. Biggest paycheck always turns into the hero in the end and always wins the topbilled actress . Just like high schooll...head cheerleader dates the quarterback , and they're named prom king and queen. Asi es, asa sera.
hmmmm,,,except in Querida Enimiga...but Soto played the lead sooo dull and slowwww as Alonso [Alonslow, as we called him in the recaps and comments] in that one. [Word ID :''wanit'']. As in I ''wanit'' to be Gus who gets that cute Cupcake but, I don't think it will be.
I'm seriously hoping Rogelio will save her using his smarts, daring and upper body strength. He would face death to save her so no doubt he will try. She may end up saving him, or better yet they will save each other. This telenovela reminds me a bit of Jane Eyre. Rogelio, like Mr. Rochester, seems to be a brutal, self-centered beast, but is merely a deeply wounded man who can be healed. Interesting that Paula like Jane lovingly tutors a child during the story showing how nuturing and kind she is and what a healer she can be. The harsh protagonista of Soy Tu Duena pales in comparison to the brutal Rogelio, but like her, I think he will be transformed by love, and we'll all think he deserves Paula in the end. Gustavo doesn't need Paula the way Rogelio does. Glad we're already seeing who could possibly become Gustavo's plan B as I won't be happy unless he's happy in the end as well.
I want Gustavo with Maripaz. I think they would be good together. She's young enough to go to school and get a degree in something environmentalish. They can work together to save the world.
The character description provided by Televisa (which I used for the Elenco post) says Sin will fall in love with GusGus (hope that isn't considered a spoiler.) I really don't want *them* to end up together.
I like GusGus. I really do. I just didnt fall for the love at first rescue they fed me. I don't see any chemistry with those two. Maybe I'm just too demanding. Sometimes I perceive instant chemistry and those end up being the characters I want together. To wit: Marco Mendez's character (what was his name?) and Nati in TdA. This also means I want Mersnotty and Esteban together.
I'm not going to lie. I think Effer really likes Sin. Fabian Robles does "puppy dog eyes" pretty well himself and in episode 2 he truly looked upset when Sin told him he was just a fling. And recently he seemed very sincere when he said to Sin that she loved him as much as he loved her (granted he used "querer" which has that whole "want" connotation, but his facial expression was not lusty when he said it.)
I hope in this case they don't go with the TN convention. Gus is too boring and lame. Rog is fiery and complex. I want the Beauty and the Beast love story LOL.
I think Efrán really loves Cinthia, but knowing that peon y dueña shouldn't mix, pretends to toy with her, as she does him. Tia didn't think he was a common peon, so he must show some finesse. Maybe he is going to inherit sth to show his worth.
I think they will end up together.
other pairings
Gus & the beach girl
Rogelio y AP
Dani y Miguel, I don't think so
Esteban y Mercedes
Tia, who cares
Vanesa, who cares
Abeja y Popeye, oops, otra novela.
Thanks for the giggle Vario. FWIW I think you are right about popeye and abeja.
Though Jorge S is the top billed star here, when I think of all the horrid things Rog has done, I can't want him to get the girl in the end. If Rog wasn't JS, he would be a straight up villain though he hasn't killed anyone yet.
I also don't find Gus as dull as others do. It will be interesting to see how he complicates things when AP discovers he's alive (and Tia knew).
nj sue, I hadn't take note of the fact that Gus always calls Ana Paula, Ana while Rogelio calls her Paula. It is interesting....
Emarie, I agree that David is not a good person and they are not setting him up to be redeemable. Cinthia will grow up and see the light though it's pretty likely she'll be involved in something nasty with Vainey first. Whether she ends up with Effen (who would have to grow up a lot on his own as well) or more likely as an adult independent woman with her own future to be made remains to be seen.
I think Gus is a pretty strong character in his own right. We just haven't seen much of him. He lost his job over his principles. He continues to fight for what he thinks is right. He went right out and got another job. He hasn't descended into bitterness over Ana Paula's apparent desertion; he wants to at least talk with her. He's great with Carmen's little girl. He's good looking. He's Ana Paula's age. I think this guy is excellent husband material.
Emarie - I don't think so with the the math. i watched the novela with Fernando C about a year or so ago and the female star was ready to get married, she is kidnapped by pirates and taken away. She spends the novela trying to get back to her true love, meanwhile her true love is being pushed into marrying his true love's sister. In the end, He did not get back with his true love. His true love married Fernanda, whom she met along the way when the pirates kidnapped her. So It can happen that Cupcake will wind up with Rog. She may see Gus again and maybe even split with rog after the year, BUT only to realize she loves him? your thoughts on this.
La Esposa Virgen is another novela where the bigger star didn't get the girl. The credits sequences for that series led you to believe he would and he was her first love, but the writers -- for reasons best known to themselves -- gave Adele Noriega to Sergio Sendel instead of Jorge Salinas.
So I don't see Jorge losing the girl this time. He wasn't happy about the ending of LEV. Also, Televisa had an online survey about it and 72% of those who voted didn't like this either.
That ran contrary to the norm for Caridad Bravo Adams' work. She had a thing for doctors and soldiers and it was previously always the doctor who got the girl. This time it was the opposite, so we know what her book or story actually did.
Loved your recap Jardinera, great job as always!
Barbara I sooo agree with you, Gus seems like great husband/boyfriend material. Especially being closer in age to Cupcake. We don't see him enough to know what he's like.
Its strange to me how everyone talks about how much Rogelio "needs" Paula, how she is changing him, how she should give him a chance, give him time..blah blah blah..Maria always defending him, making excuses for him like he was an 8 year old boy...Im over it! .what about Paula? She is only about 22, No one seems to care what she needs. It's definitely not him, she needs an HONEST, kind , loving, sensitive NON-violent man who does not play chess with peoples lives. One that doesn't have a dump truck full personal issues.
He really forced her to marry him, then is surprised that she's not in love with him and wants to share his bed? WHAT? she told him 100 times she wasn't into him or the deal. Until she agreed because of her brother. I have very little sympathy for Rog, this story reminds me of PHANTOM OF THE OPERA,, phantom kidnaps Christine at the end and is surprised she isn't in love with him. So I am hoping Rogelio becomes Phantom of the Hacienda and to show his real love for Cupcake he sets her free to be with her sweet young love Gus. That is the only thing in my mind that would redeem him for me.
I get a real laugh when Tia walks around the Hacienda with her arms out stretched like she was a Miss America contestant. So funny to me
Didn't the Beast release Belle to be with her Father and in the end that sealed her love for him?
My 22 yo daughter has dated a man 13 years older than she. It didn't work out, but I don't subscribe to the "have to be the same age" school of thought. There was a 16 year age difference between my grandparents. Really the age difference in this case no me importa un comino compared to the shenanigans leading to the forced marriage.
Jane Eyre has stood the test of time as has Beauty and the Beast. I am curious that we (myself included) accept those plots as romantic but have such a hard time with Rohell. I'm willing to bet the Beast in Disney's version was very clean compared to the original.
Dona Gringuita: Forgot to say you had me LOL with your mini-rant!
============
Barbara/Elle/NJ Sue: All good and valid points;
==============
Emarie: not to worry, you've only seen one style of telenovela format. You'll catch up, amiga! ; ? ))
===
Vario: we really don't know if Cupcake knows how to swim, do we? Maybe she'll surprise us and save herself.
================
Rosemary: I'm wondering about that will myself.
=============
Pirate Babe/Karen: I weighed in on the Gus question but forgot to address those remarks to y'all.
Sara: Where could I find the original Beauty and the Beast? Is there a film out there somewhere?
Actually they made a big point in one of the early episodes when AP first became acquainted with the denizens of the hacienda that her name was Ana Paula. And Roho, in what I assumed was an attitude of sullen disrespect, refused to call her that. So, if he does become rehabilitated, I predict (speculation only, here) that the sign of his transformation will be that he softens and starts calling her Ana.
Amen Elle!!!
Jardinera-- I was thinking of the original Charles Perrault story. I'm reading it right now. Alas, my conjecture may be false. The Beast does not seem as heinous as I thought he would be. (I was extrapolating based on the original Cinderella-chopping off toes to fit the shoes- vs the Disney version.
Here's the Perrault version of B and B:
http://nkdinamoforever.bloger.hr/post/charles-perrault--beauty-and-the-beast/1052169.aspx
I haven't read the entire thing. Just perused it.
Elle- continuing on what you said, I thought it was odd that everyone, except for AP and Miguel, thought it was strange that AP refused to sleep in the same bed as her employer (because that's what he is at this point). Like, what were they all smoking?! The only person in that house who should be surprised is Cynthia, who doesn't know about the contract and sham marriage.
Sara and Jardinera~~~I just bought the Disney Beauty and the Beast dvd for my 4 year-old grandgirl Jane , and I watch it EVERY DAY with her while I babysit. There's interesting background on the dvd about how the artists decided to portray the beast. They sketched a lot of animals at the zoo, so The Beast turned into a composite of several animals..buffalo, bear, wolf[long tail], etc. I also have several fairytale books from my own 2 daughters , and I've read several versions of the tale to Jane. They are all slightly different [like all fairytales...Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, etc.] One illustrates the Beast with the head of a lion [kind of sexy] and another a warthog [gross]. In all of the versions, Beauty takes her father's place as The Beast's prisoner. Do you remember the TV series ? In the Disney version, there is a magic mirror, and when Beauty gazes into it and sees her father lying in the woods hurt, The Beast releases her even though it means the curse will not be broken . He makes the ultimate sacrifice for her condemning him to live the rest of his life as a beast. There is a magic rose , and The Beast must love someone and have that person return his love before the last petal falls. I like the story. Jane and I talk about the importance of being pretty on the inside.
Re: the age difference. Older men can be great and muy sexy as Rohell proves here. But given the fact that statistically men die at a younger age than women, marrying a guy significantly older puts another check in Rohell's minus column.
If AP stays with Rohell, I hope the writers are realistic and keep Rohell paraplegic. It's just too contrived and unrealistic that he could walk after all these years. (and telenovelas never are contrived or unrealistic!).
BTW, I keep forgetting to mention, I love your title Jardinera.
UA, aw man, so Salinas doesn't end up with the girl in Esposa Virgen? I have downloaded a few episodes of that but wasn't ready to watch them. You're right, the title credits do make it look like Salinas would end up with the girl. How disappointing.
Don't go to YouTube or Facebook or actually do any Google searches for info on LQNPA because you're at risk of seeing fan videos, etc that give away spoilers, but let's just say that the fan support for AP-Rohell is very, very strong.
Couple that with the fact that Salinas was not happy how things ended in Esposa Virgen, I'm even more inclined than ever to think that Rog is going to end up with the girl. That, and the fact that the writers are focusing so much on Rohell and AP. To devote so much time to getting the audience to "understand" Rohell, to even root for him (as many of us are) and then if they were to pull the rug from underneath us--I think many of the audience would be extremely unhappy if they did that.
But who knows? They might do that, nobody knows. But to me, it just doesn't add up. The "signs" (as many of us have noticed) are there for Rohell and AP. Gus is younger and more flexible and would be happy with another girl. Rog, old turd that he is, not so much. So they have about 100+ episodes to make it all work out.
I wrote earlier that the first couple of episodes aren't that engaging, but now LQNPA really starts its engines and having seen all the episodes so far, minus those when I got fed up with it (yeah, I did went on a strike), I can tell you that this part of the story is one of the most interesting ones.
Sorry Ana Paula, but I just can't buy your magnificent love story with Gustavo. Of course, she suffers because she thinks he's dead yadda yadda, but every time she acts like she lost her soul mate, I can't help but think that she just spent three days with that fella. THREE DAYS! She barely even knew him, they just kissed and hugged a few times and she fell asleep on his shoulder. End of the story. I am wondering whether or not she just idealizes his image, putting him on a pedestal, simply because he's "dead" and she didn't actually get to spend enough time with him to learn of his flaws, which he surely has. I don't really believe in love at first sight - love goes beyond that; it takes time to develop and it comes with cohabitation. She lived more things with Rogelio than with Gus, which isn't a compelling love interest at all. He bores me to death; in the first episodes, every time he was just standing there, smiling without a reason or a purpose, I wanted to smack him. Mean. I know. They try to paint him as the ultimate hero without a black spot, but for me, he doesn't have screen presence.
Rogelio on the other hand, steals the show. He has progressed a lot these days, although I don't know if he'll change the way Ana Paula wants to. After all, we have to somewhat accept our partners the way they are, since there are things that can't be changed and Ana Paula is pushing it a bit. Luckily, Rogelio doesn't seem to be a lost case - he just waited for someone to pull THAT trigger, to go back to what he was before. I don't think he'll ever change completely, but probably he'll be polished. His nature is good - he wasn't bad all along, but he became so due to the circumstances. This is definitely not a case of bad seed.
I wish Rogelio's rival could match him. If I were Ana Paula, my choice would be very simple, because the other one just doesn't do it for me. I just hope she'll leave Gus behind, Rogelio deserves to be loved. At the wedding he looked heartbroken when he told her that it's the best day of his life and that she finally is his wife and she reminds him that it's only for a year. I know I didn't comment when I should have done it, but I thought it was funny when he proposed to her and told her that of course there won't be any intimacy between them and she has that look like: NO WAY, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? only to refuse to stay in the same room with him afterwards. Yeah, she was pissed off because he apparently married her to get even with Vanesa, but I sincerely doubt this was the case. Every time AP speaks of Vanesa, she just comes off as jealous and Rogelio looks at her with too much love, so unless he sees Vanesa in her, I think he has genuine feelings for AP, even though he shows us more than he tells her.
Seems like La que no podia nadar strikes again, but maybe she did learn to swim in the meantime. Too bad this isn't a proper honeymoon, with auntie, Margaro and Hugo around. Ok, I don't mind Hugo, since he's a stud and me needs some eye-candy, but AP and Rog could have used some time of their own. Interesting to see what will happen on Monday, Rogelio looked desperate to save her and he'll probably be frustrated that he won't really be able to, poor thing. Oh and he DID tell her to be careful, when she stood up in the canoe, but of course she didn't listen to him, just like she didn't listen to Bruno when she fell off that horse.
I've got one word for you Elvira: Osvaldo.
I'm still peeved about that one.
And the whole story with the fishermen also bores me to death. This is the problem I have with the telenovela, that apart from auntie and Rogelio, there are no other interesting characters, not to mentions stories. I watched the telenovela as it aired in Mexico and I wished I could have fast forwarded every time the Hacienda disappeared from the frame. La que no Podia Amar started this week in my country also, 7 episodes per week and Rogelio is even more wonderful in glorious HD lol.
Jardinera - the Beauty and the Beast fairytale is French and dates from 1740 or 1756. You can find the essentials on Wikipedia.
The Beast was never an ogre or mean at all, only ugly/frightening to look at. This tale does not correspond very closely. It's closer to the gothic tales of a mean or rude misunderstood "hurt hero" like Edward Rochester or even Mr. Darcey, one who has to get past his character defects/learn humility to "get the girl".
I agree that everyone coddles Rogelio - I guess that's what keeps him such a spoiled brat! Good point elle!
And the reason I can't respect Cinthia, or feel much sympathy for how she keeps getting herself in hot water, is that she is so stuck on social status (and a super-inflated concept of her own inherited status) that she is really nasty to most of the people around her. I agree Vivi - she is also a brat! [But I love the actress!]
Audrey
Sara, do you mean Osvaldo in TdA? I wasn't really rooting for him, but was a bit surprised how things ended. (I didn't follow the story all that faithfully after a while, but my recollection was that I didn't feel as assured that he would end up with the girl, as I do at this point with Rog and AP.) Plus I think the storyline is sufficiently different here from TdA, and with this story, the fan support for Rog/AP is muy, but MUY strong.
Alexandra I totally agree. I don't give a rat's patooty about the fishermen story line.
Well I certainly rooted for him... Well as much as one could with that piece o crap. It really bothered me the writers wouldn't even let him attend his son's wedding.
Yeah. I'm still bitter lol
Audrey wrote: "It's closer to the gothic tales of a mean or rude misunderstood "hurt hero" like Edward Rochester or even Mr. Darcey, one who has to get past his character defects/learn humility to "get the girl".
YES this. I think it's got a lot of that (also the classic romance novel, which overlaps the Gothic novel). Add to that the old classic novel "North & South" (written in 1855 and set in Industrial England) where the heroine really doesn't like the hero at all at first. In the BBC dramatization, they had the heroine's first encounter with the hero be when he was beating an employee! (We learn later he was freaking out because the worker was smoking in an extremely risky/flammable area and putting everyone's lives at risk.) Anyway, while the hero of "North & South" is a much nicer person than Rohellio, he does have an angry temper, which puts off the heroine.
I see a lot of similarities in LQNPA and old romance novels--a lot!
Sara, aw man, I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed with Osvaldo's storyline. Maybe I would have felt the way you did had I followed it closer. After a while I was mainly in it just to sneak admiring looks at Padre Hottie and to see what was going on with the Singing Gardner's (as I called him) storyline.
I think LQNPA is different from TdA, and let's face it, we all need a special merit badge for our beanies for having suffered through TdA. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure LQNPA will have its ups and downs too, but TdA takes the cake for idiocy.
As for someone else's comment about whether Rog will walk or not--I think it's extremely important that he be loved and accepted as he is in the chair. (And that he reconcile himself to be in that chair and realize that he could still find happiness even though he's stuck in it.) If he can do all that, and then walk, then I'm all for it. (No spoilers, just my feelings.)
I have never felt that much sympathy for Rogelio just because he's paralyzed. If he were paralyzed AND poor, and was struggling to support his family because of it, then I would have really felt for him. But the guy is firthy rich and has people to cater to his every whim and desire. I bet he could probably hire someone to build him a special seat so that he can ride a horse. I'm not saying that it's not terrible to lose the use of your legs, but otherwise, his life is pretty damn good! I have a friend who is losing her sight. She young and has to face the fact that in a few years she will be totally blind. I have never even heard half the whining from her in years, as from Rogelio in a few episodes. And she's having to figure out how she will make her livelihood as she goes blind! Rogelio didn't have that problem. I just hate whiners so much, and he's a HUGE whinere.
Alexandra, why don't you let us know what you really think about Gus? LOL. : )
"Gus is younger and more flexible and would be happy with another girl. Rog, old turd that he is, not so much."
Elvira, you make me laugh.
I was thinking that if Rogelio is like Don Corleone, then Miguel is more like Fredo. ( the non so bright brother)
In Gothic novels didnt the price/princess or couples always have their OWN seperate bedrooms and hubbie only paid a rare visit just to "shag'? Then was outta there like in 10 minutes ????
I understand now what Cinthia sees in Efrain. He was hysterical last night. I mean she might not think so, but I was laughing. Forgot he was poor dumb Vladimir in MEPS because he's way more fun here. I'm sure he's the reason she wore a red bra with her teensy white shirt.
Thank you Mexican Board of Tourism for adding one more place to my list of things to see someday. Those lakes looked gorgeous.
On another lake note, why exactly does AP NEED rescuing? It's a lake. The water's not going anywhere. And didn't Rogelio say it was only a meter and a half deep? In those heels she could just stand up. No rescue needed. Sheesh.
Kelly
Elvira I felt the same about the singing gardener and Fer storyline. Dear heavens I can't remember the character's name! Anyhow I was glad he married Fer while she was still paralyzed. She walked later.
If this were real life, it would be Gus all the way. But this is a telenovela and Rog is played by Jorge Salinas. That is all. LOL.
In a way this whole "Should it be Gus or Rohell?" debate reminds me of a few years ago, when the BBC show "Robin Hood" was on TV. The hero, Robin, was played by a cute, cheeky guy who was appealing, but sometimes a doofus. His rival for the affections of Maid Marian was the brooding, very hot Guy of Gisborne, always in black. Now, in that story, we knew that the much-hotter Guy would not get the girl, because Guy had done some irredeemable things. But still, the actor playing him was a show-stealer and had more screen presence and that couldn't be overlooked.
But, with Rohell, while we realize that Rohell would be a bad bet in the relationship dept if this were real life (at least until he gets his crap sorted out), a lot of us can root for him, because the guy playing him has a lot of screen presence, and, he's not been written to be hopelessly irredeemable. The writers have many episodes to work on him sorting his crap out.
Vivi, I agree, Rohell is constantly playing the "cripple card" and it's getting old. Granted, part of the reason he is the way he is is not just the paralysis, but the simultaneous, heartless dumping by Vainessa due to the paralysis. But still, he needs to learn to reconcile himself with how he is and find happiness the way he is now.
The AP and Rog fanbase even have their own special name. They call themselves the Rogelianas. I really hope Rog gets the girl. I'm all for it.
I noticed that Rog calls AP 'Paula' whereas Gus calls her 'Ana.' I think Gus should end up with the fisherman's niece or daughter. It's apparent that they like each other.
I'm only commenting because I want to be the 100th comment.
Let's compare Jane Eyre and LQNPA:
Jane's parents are killed, she is adopted by an uncle who dies and she is raised by a selfish narcissistic aunt who resents her and sends her away to school
Ana's mother died and she is raised by a selfish narcissistic aunt that resents her and pushes her to go away with Rogelio
Jane goes to work for Mr. Rochester tutoring a child
Ana goes to work for Mr. Rogelio and also tutors a child
Mr. Rochester is strong domineering character with a wounded spirit
Sr. Rohelio is a strong domineering character with a wounded spirit
Mr. Rochester used a woman he was dating to make Jane jealous.
Sr. Rogelio used Ana to humiliate his ex fiancee
Mr. Rochester has a crazy wife locked in a room no one knows about.
Sr. Rogelio has a crazy wanna-be wife no one wants to know about that he once locked in a room.
Jane turns out to have a rich uncle that leaves her a lot of money.
Ana's real father is rich we don't know if he'll leave her money.
Good for you Cathyx!
I love the word Rogelianas!
Thanks for the comparison Emarie!
I know that was really childish, but I couldn't help myself.
Hmmm. I would say Rog is clinically depressed, and with good reason. He's been needing psychiatric counseling and therapy all these years and never gotten it. The whining might have stopped after a while and the whip might never have been used. Until he can prove to himself that he can have a normal marital relationship (as part of this storyline), he won't change.
Not childish at all Cathyx. I find myself wanting to leave a gratuitous comment just to bump it up to 14. I don't like 13.
Jardinera, I agree that Rohell is very depressed.
Also, I forgot to mention before, not only is Rohell paralyzed, dumped by the "love of his life" (he thought) for being paralyzed, but he's also got people snickering behind his back because of the paralysis. (Bruno does it to his face too. But then again, Rohell whipped Bruno.) Macaria (or however you spell it) from the store was sort of tittering about how Rohell had to buy a wife for company, because he's obviously such a lonely, pathetic loser, what with being a cripple and all. And I wouldn't say that Macaria is a horrible person (just insensitive). No doubt a lot of people are less than sympathetic to Rohell. Now again, probably it's harder to be sympathetic when he's a douchebag, but yet I also think that when a guy's a millionaire Alpha Male, there would be a lot of jealousy about him and a lot of people would enjoy now feeling "superior" to the pathetic cripple. And Rohell knows that. Hence the cripple card. It's annoying when he does it, but yet not without some reason behind it.
Rogelio should have gone to a mail order bride website...
Pirate Babe,what are fans of Cupcake & Gus called?
To add another aspect that makes the ending of this show hard to figure out (besides the noticeable changes in the storyline): the two earlier versions had different finales.
In Monte Calvario: Ana Rosa ends up with Gustavo.
In Te Sigo Amando: Yulissa "chooses herself" and ends up alone.
Jarocha
@ Elle. I think the Gus/AP fans call themselves Gustavanas. I may have spelled it wrong. I've even seen the nickname Gusbobos.
Love it!!! Sounds like the name of an expensive Cuban cigar..Gustavana
I'm laughing at all this Rogeliana vs. Gustavana talk. I feel like a teenager: Team Edward/Team Jacob Harry and Luna or Harry and Hermione?
I used to roll my eyes at Offspring when she got so involved in Twilight/HP boards and debating the relationships. *Sigh* I understand a little better now.
Have a great day everyone! Until 10/9! :-/
Jardinera: Oh my, this was spectacular! "the sorriest sodbuster this side of España for having dumped Vainie on her’ vixeny backside so venally" definitely side bar woththy. My other favorite line(among many) was "(Aye, ¡Fabian! What. A. Clown! Such a honey! If we only could see you without that continual 5-day grizzle-growth and a bit more hair. Hmmmmm.)" ITA!
Along with Sin, Tia continues to be one of the more interesting characters here. Shashaying imperiously, I also see a bit of softening. But, it cannot obliterate her dastardly complicity regarding Gus.
I cannot believe this is moving to 10:00. I am taking hope that it is only for February, based on the buzz here.
Jardinera, thank you! A wonderful way to start Monday.
Diana
Ha! Diana! That would be a first for me! LOL!
=======
Thanks again, folks! Appreciate the wonderful discussion threads --113+ already!! This TN is really making us think this time around.
REMEMBER TO SET YOUR DVR/VCR'S FOR 10PM EASTERN/9PM CENTRAL FOR THE REST OF FEBRUARY.
Rogelio as wounded lion... exactly right, particularly since Jorge Salinas is a Leo.
I wonder whether we will get a flashback to Rogelio and Sinthia's father. I have the idea that their mother died when they were children and Maria was their mother by default. Perhaps their father was controlling and very rigid, so Rogelio had to work harder to prove himself after the accident. One can imagine his reaction when Vainessa bailed two weeks before the wedding date.
Let's see... Eric del Castillo or Enrique Rocha?
ISTA Jardinera. I love all the discussion too. Watching TN is just not the same without Caray Caray.
I don't think Rogelio is whining that much because he can't walk, but rather because he feels that because of his condition, he can't be a complete man worthy of love. I am sure that if Vanesa wouldn't have dumped him right afterwards, making him feel like a piece of crap, he would have accepted by now his impairment. I mean...if the woman of his life who loved him and wanted to marry him couldn't cope with something like that, how could he make another woman fall in love with him, while he is in that wheelchair? This arrogance and roughness is simply a mask hiding his underestimation and the poor opinion he has of himself - at least this is how I see it. I know that look of pity, when people stare at you thinking: Ohhh poor thing or even worse: Ohh that person looks terrible, so I definitely understand why he hates it so much. Of course it also hurts him not being able to ride horses like he did before, since it was his biggest passion, but he would be able to deal with his problem if there would be a woman to accept him and love him the way he is. I hope he won't have to miraculously start walking in order for AP to fall in love with him. Unfortunately, it's very common in telenovelas that the blind people can suddenly see or the impaired can suddenly walk. This would send a wrong message - I'd rather wish he would form a happy family despite the difficulties; after all, many men facing this problem live a healthy and happy life. So if AP will fall in love with him after all, I hope it will be before he walks.
And yes, Team Rogelio is ruled by the Rogelianas (and I'm a proud Rogeliana :D) and Team Gustavo is ruled by the Gustavianas. We tease Gustavo a lot, calling him Gusbobo (Gusdumb), Gustarado (Gusidiot), Gusano (worm) hahaha or simply Bobo. He even has his own song, sung by none other than Dj BOBO, the Chihuahua one. We dedicated the song to him because on one occasion we thought he looked like an angry Chihuahua. Of course, we have nothing against the actor portraying the character, but the character is simply plain.
Jadinera, what fun. Sorry to be so late in commenting. I read this yesterday but my daughter and her family came over and I never got around to commenting or even reading the comments until this morning.
Also thanks to Kat. Your recap was great fun as well.
Most everything has been said, but one thing I found strange was the people leisurely strolling behind Rog and AP as they were together on the lawn. Rog strikes me as a "Hey, get off my lawn!" kind of guy.
Carlos
Jardinera your recap was so awesome. I look forward to these recaps on Monday Morning, while sipping my coffee and eating my donut at 7:15 a.m. Food for thought. Many say that it would be nice for AP to fall in love with Rog before he walks, if he does. What about this. He slying works on walking. No one knows and when she decides to say she loves him, or they decide to redo the marriage in the church, that when they say "Do you take AP for your wife, he actually stands up, faces her and says "I do". That would be awesome.
I'm sure Ana Paula will fall in love with Rogelio before he walks; remember Cruz and Fernanda in TdA?
Ana Paula is not like her nasty half-sister.
Carlos- Isn't this the same lawn the cows are always walking on? Why should they get priority over the servants? Oh right, it's a novela.
Kelly
word ver. ablych. Vanessa is not done being ablych.
I agree; I think that it's no coincidence that RP is a nurse. That's part of her appeal to Rohell. On one hand, he may tell himself that she pays attention to him and cares for him because "it's her job," but on the other hand, she's far less likely to believe in misinformation and myths about what his condition is. She's far less likely to view him as a pathetic cripple or half a man. Nurses aren't going to think that way about anyone!
Alexandra, I think you are right that a large part of Rohell's problem is that he no longer feels worthy of love. I recall now an episode I recapped where he kept on pressing AP (who was his nurse) for her opinion on whether he was "worthy" of love. He really seemed to want to know, and because he'd been such a douchebag to her previously, she wasn't wanting to give him a direct answer. When she wouldn't, he cursed and threw his glass of drops against the wall.
He's obviously got issues in that department. That's what the writers are trying to tell us, loud and clear! LOL.
I should say, "AP (early in the show when she was working as his nurse at the hacienda)". Whatever. You guys get what I mean, right?
Dear Jardinera,
Please help me. My name is
Alice and I was aregular member of Caray. caray, until I fell and broke my femor in 2010. My leg never healed and I had another operation before
Thanksgiving and a new knee put in.
My problem is i'm going
crazy wondering what happened to Fernando Colunga. Do you have any news. I miss your wonderful recapping, and hope to get back again.
Love,
Alice
Alice: I can't provide any Colunga updates but am so glad you posted. I'm very sorry to hear about your knee! I hope you are well on your way to recovery.
Welcome back and hope you can post regularly. Jardinera is an amazing recapper I totally agree. She and the other recappers on Caray are marvelous.
Diana
Hi Alice, I hope you are on the final road to recovery now. I hope Jardinera won't mind me butting in, but I just had to say I know exactly what TBLMOE is doing because he was in my hometown of Chicago this weekend.
He was here in the production of a play called Manos Quietas. He is traveling across the United States doing this play. I toyed with the idea of trying to get tickets but in the end I just didn't. But OMG, he was within a few miles of my home. Be still my heart.
What FC HAS planned next as far as telenovelas --don't know. Maybe someone else knows?
Dear Diana and Barbara:
Thank you both very much for your info on Fernando.
I am getting better slowly and I can't tell you how wonderful it is to connect with Caray, Caray again. I've been fascinated with the man since Albarado.
Thanks again, dear friends.
Alice
Alice~~~Welcome back. I, too, love and miss Fernando. I am sending out good vibrations for your speedy recovery. ))))))))))
My TV listing says that tonight's show will be on at 9:00pm. I guess I'll record til 11:00pm just to be safe.
Alice: Hello! Of course we all remember you! Sorry to hear about your knee and the long convalescence. I think LXV/Agnes N.J. had knee surgery and began back with us the same way, to keep her mind active while she exercised or some such. LOL! So glad you've come back to us, amiga! The others here can give you more background on FC than I can. The last thing he starred in this past year --and won a premio for-- was Soy Tu Dueña.
Dear dear Alice, I'm so sorry to hear about your leg. I hope your surgery was successful because it really changes your life for the worse when you can no longer walk. I was in a wheelchair and had to get a hip replaced just over a year ago. The recovery was smooth, but much longer than I expected. So I wish you the best. All of us who have been disabled in this way can really feel for Rogelio. Glad you've joined us again. And Jardinera is right, I get on my exercise bike for an hour every night and use the telenovela as a distraction. Welcome back.
