The bad news: It makes it impossible for this recapper to
- Sin begs Rohell to let her stay a few days “to comfort Vanessa and look for another nurse.” Riiight. When she mentions canceling the wedding stuff, Rohell interrupts and tells her no. He’ll take care of that.
- Tia is so pleased to know Rohell broke his engagement with Nessie. Bruno is surprised to find out Tia is coming to the hacienda, too. Rohell shows up and tells Bruno he’ll be staying in Tuxtla to make sure Fede pays the contractual penalty. He tells VanBruno Sin is staying a couple of days and the two of them need to be back by the 27th (They rarely say actual dates on a TN…this must be important.) Rohell rubs VanBrunos nose in the fact that Sinthia never even accepted VanBruno’s proposal.
- Tia hurries Cupcake along. Cupcake bids bro a final adiós topped off with a cuídate. Tia reminds everyone to shut up about the boda. Cupcake reminds him to get his sorry ass well so all this sacrifice of hers will be worth it (loose translation.) Tia lays on a little more guilt. Thanks to Cupcake, he’ll never have to go back to that prison where they might have killed him.
- Sin goes to visit Nessie and gets an earful from Elsie. Mama may never wants to see Rohell’s sister ever again, but Nessie does. Sin feels just awful. Nessie doesn’t want Sin’s pity or help. If Rohell or anyone thinks she’s destroyed because he left her they are wrong!
- Rohell gives Tia a tour. She says it was worth the long trip (I swear I heard a faint “ka-ching”.) Greetings from Maria who has prepared a Cocido Chiapaneco to welcome everyone home…but they ate on the road. Cupcake introduces Tia. Maria mentions that it’s too bad M-grito is sleeping. He would have loved to see Ana.
- Rohell confronts Effer about Paloma. Why did he let the horse die? Effer starts the “the vet came late” song and dance and Rohell starts the “crack the whip menacingly” song and dance. Cupcake intervenes and adds the “don’t beat on people” two-step. Rohell reminds Ana not contradict him or undermine his authority in front of the employees. She won’t allow him to behave like a savage. Rohell asks her how does she know he’s not. Because when he was in Tuxtla he didn’t need to use force at all! She wants to know why he went back to his old self as soon as he got back to the hacienda. What's so he afraid of that he can't stop brandishing his fuete (whip)?
- Effer tells Maria about being rescued by Cupcake. He’s pretty pleased with himself. Good for you but bad for her Maria says. Rohell is capable of anything.
- Rehash of episode 2 convo: People respond to kindness. Life sucks, but don’t let it make you bitter and want to get revenge on everyone (desquitarse.) Sure, not being able to walk after being so robust (recio) did affect him, but he needs to try to enjoy what he has. Rohell interprets that to mean “resign himself.” That’s not what she means. She means accept his condition and stop being a douchebag (Ioose translation.) He asks her about the attitude she'll be bringing to the marriage.
- Squeaky D, Unibrow and his new play toy Pelota. They blabbity blah about Cupcake’s upcoming nuptials and Bruno conveniently eavesdrops. All he’s missing is an evil black mustache to menacingly twirl while Mwhahahah-ing.
- Cupcake fights with Rohell. She's gonna be his wife, not slave. She's gonna call him out on his crap. She's not going to stop calling him Usted, either. Who knows when he'll whip out his (literal) whip (no double entendre.)
- Sin and Nessie check out the headlines in the local gossip rags. Sin reminds Nessie how much the first break up hurt Rohell and she is convinced that really she is the one that has suffered the most (I don’t get her logic.) Some lines. Sin has to be back at the hacienda by the 26th to sign some papers. The “pow” sound affect alerts Viewerville to remember that date.
- Tia has made herself very comfortable. M-grito runs in. Big hugs and loud-ass “te extraños”. Tia meets M-grito. He offers to show her around. She sashays out to get ready.
- GusGus talks to Newb and is about to suggest he not continue to work on the project when David sneaks up.
- Tia gets the hacienda tour…in heels. She’s an idiot. She thinks M-grito will know how many hectares there are. M-grito tells her to talk to Effer. Tia dreams of becoming a dueña no matter what.
- David dismisses Newb and I tune out. We know this. David is a lying, cost-cutting ass and GusGus is all about protecting the fisherman. Fill in if I missed anything.
- Maria and Cupcake talk about the latest confrontation. Maria is worried about Rohell's reaction. Conned tells Cupcake that Rohell wants to see her in her room. Scandalous!! As Cupcake leaves Effer comes in and asks Maria about Sin. Conned hears and asks why. Effer blows some blabbity blab that neither lady believes.
- Rohell bought Cupcake some new duds. She uses to the familiar form of address and chooses a blue form of a dress.
- VanBruno calls Tia and he’s pretty annoyed. Tia pretends that she only just found out and almost had a heart attack herself. What.evs. She still tries to keep the VanBruno end of the candle lit. But what can she say? Rohell won.
- Rohell cow eyes Cupcake in her new dress. He wants the necklace she’s wearing. But it’s an memento that she loves!! It doesn’t go with her dress, though. He wantssss the preciousssss. He says to put it in a box with the rest of her past. She agrees… if agrees to put away the whip. Score one for Cupcake.
- Rohell hands over the whip. Folks will still obey him...even Cupcake. Cupcake takes off the necklace. Cupcake hides them away in a drawer.
- Tia thinks the hacienda is a dream. Ana hopes it doesn't become a nightmare. Tia encourages Cupcake to be a tough cookie with the employees and not a cream puff. Cupcake refuses.
- Fermin talks about the fishing. GusGus talks about the project and winning over the fishermen. FF>>
- Ana does the physical therapy things. She hopes when they are married, Rohell will continue with the therapy and won't be a douchebag (loose translation.)
- Maria finds out the marriage is one of convenience and only for a year. Wow. Hugo had lines! (He tells Cupcake Rohell has a surprise for her.)
- Nessie cries. Fede explains the contractual penalty. Nessie is impactada.
- Ana gets her wedding gift: A dim-witted brother!!! She's thrilled and kisses Rohell on the cheek. Rohell pulls a Marsha Brady just got kissed by Davy Jones.
- Nessie and Fede talk penalties. Fede is more than willing to pay it. She knows Daddy loves her more than anybody (until he finds out the truth about Cupcake), but she refuses to give Rohell that money.
- Unibrow thanks Rohell. Hugo has more lines. Ana and Rohell take a ride on the helicopter. She's happy. Jorge Salinas' eyes melt my heart.
- Sin tells Maria about Rohell publicly dumping Nessie. Maria is relieved, but tells Sin there are impending nuptials, but Rohell asked her not to say to whom. Effer arrives with an envelope for Rohell. Sin crosses the privacy boundaries and opens the envelope to discover plane tickets with Rohell and Ana Pau's names.
- Nessie wants revenge on Rohell. Fede clutches his chest. Rohell really makes him mad. Nessie presses her revenge case. She wants Rohell to be the one to pay. Fede asks what she suggests. I'm sure Viewerville will learn the answer in the coming weeks.
- Sin accuses Tia of setting Cupcake on Rohell. Tia denies it (*eyeroll*) Sin can't quite understand how Rohell got so interested. Tia insists it's because her niece is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious and understands Rohell. And for him that's enough. Tia makes a grand exit.
- Helicopter ride. Pretty sites and hand holding. FF>>
- Sin tells Nessie about the wedding with Cupcake.
- Miguel is on parole and won't have to go back to jail. He and Tia argue about Cupcake marrying without love. Tia is convinced Rohell is a sheep in wolf's clothing (I'm not saying I think Rohell redemption is impossible, but an endorsement from Tia is not necessarily a good thing.) Tia reminds him Cyclops will kill him if he returns to jail.
- Nessie thinks surely Rohell's marriage to Cupcake is a joke. Sin says everyone is saying he will marry tomorrow and she has plane tickets with both names on them! Nessie finally seems to get how far Rohell will go to hurt her. She needs Daddy's support for her plan o' vengance.
- Rohell wants Cupcake to comport herself like the dueña she'll be. She's thought about his earlier question about what attitude she'll bring to the marriage. She wants the year they are married to be the best they can make of it. Rohell wants that too.
- Fermin and GusGus. Same spit different scene. Juan is a rabble-rouser (Where the hell have I seen that actor before?) They have to nip it in the bud. FF>>
- Rohell wants Miguel to stay on after the wedding.
- Sin confronts Rohell about the wedding. She feels hoodwinked into planning the wedding for "esa tipa." He's ruining Nessies life and hers! Sin can't believe he's her brother. Rohell insists she'll be one of his witnesses'and she'll keep her trap shut or kiss seeing David goodbye. She hopes he enjoys himself on his honeymoon with that ... gata! Tia gloats from her hiding place.
- David and GusGus pissing contest. GusGus is going to get papers to shut down the project. Juan tells David anything to do with the construction is Juan's business. FF>>
- VanBruno arrives. He is sad Cupcake didn't tell him about the wedding. She can count on him. She knows her heart belongs to GusGus, but he'll contine to wait for her. Bruno haz a Slimy. He better not cut off an ear.
- Tia wants to know if there is a beauty parlor nearby. Tia is a be-yotch to Maria. Social standing bologna.
- Miguel's freedom cost a buttload. Rohell tells VanBruno to keep his distance form Cupcake.
- Maria thinks Rohell "querer"s Cupcake...in the "cherish" sense. She's never seen him like this. Maria asks if Ana Pau could grow to love him. That's a negatory, but she will make him as happy as possible given the situation. Maria thinks deep down he's not a ratfink (I trust her endorsement more than Tía's.)
- VanBruno congratulates Rohell. Ana arrives to remind Rohell about his therapy. He's glad she's occupying herself with seeing to what he needs. He gives her the tickets for the honeymoon. she looks happy. Rohell leaves.
- Sin talks to Cupcake. She tells her all aout the humillación de Nessie. The only reason Rohell wanted to marry was to get his revenge on Nessie. Cupacke cries.
- Maria is glad Rohell is marrying Cupcake. Sweet scene with Maria and Rohell. Maria is pretty sure Rohell is feeling more for Cupcake than he cares to admit. She advises Rohell to try to be happy (or to make Cupcake happy...I didn't catch it.)
- Sin tells Cupcake Rohell never stopped loving Nessie. Cupcake can't believe he would plan something so cold. Sin insists Rohell is using Cupcake.
- GusGus mopes. He can't stop thinking about Ana. Tomorrow is his birthday. FF>>
- Cupcake confrontation. She can't marry Rohell. She thought he wanted her company because he was alone. (Ah, methinks the lady's ego doth smart.) But he reminds her she signed a contract.
- Sin tells David that he has to get to the hacienda tomorrow. Rohell is going to marry Cupcake the oportunista and that Sin might lose her inheritance. David says she can't let that happen. Wuv. Twu Wuv. (*snort*)
- Rohell reminds Cupcake if she doesn't carry out her part Miguel is going back to jail. She lets him know she will fake being his wife to perfection.
- Cupcake whines to Tia about it all. Tia thinks it's no biggie. Tia says she still has to marry him. He used her and vice versa. She has to help her family, right? Tame the beast, ok? Tia says to rest and tomorrow Cupcake will see things differently. Tomorrow is another day (yeah, she really said that.)
Wedding day!!!!
- Rohell pouts. He's already regretting it all. Ana Pau doesn't value what he's offering. Maria tells him to behave with her and take advantage of what life is giving him.
- Ana Pau pouts
- Tia encourages her. It's not for the rest of Cupcakes life and she's getting a lot out of it!
- Maria tells Rohell to forget about revenge. Do right by Ana Pau. Tell her everything is over with Nessie and he wants things to be different with her. Maria is a romantic!
- Squeaky and Miguel share a big smoochie.
- Cupcake will marry Rohell, but he shouldn't expect respect or affection. She thought he was changing, but he's not. All Rohell cares about is her complying with the wedding and wearing the necklace he bought her. She doesn't want to wear his dog collar! He reminds her she is her property while she's under contract to him. Dude. Not cool. Were you even listening to Maria? Asshat.

Sara, wonderful recap, loved the hilarious snark! In particular "(loose translation)." You got that right!!
Also loved the "Rohell does a Marcia Brady just got kissed by Davy Jones." That is EXACTLY what that was like! I don't know how Rohell can still be in denial, when he's giving off cow eyes and puppy-dog looks right and left.
I couldn't hear the part where Rohell is talking to Bruno about how to deal with Fed and the penalty fee when I was watching this episode sans CCs. It seems like I got it pretty much right with what I was thinking after yesterday's episode--Rohell figures that if he had to suck it up and deal with Fed after being dumped by Vainessa, that Fed can deal with him now. Of course Rohell is more vindictive and douchebaggy about it. But he's Rohell. What do we expect?
I love Maria and think it's going to be fun seeing her interact with Tia and call Tia on her bullsh*t.
It was also nice that Rohell is being so nice to Miguel, letting him stay on at the Hacienda and recover. The LEAST you can do, dude! But of course he has to ruin it by being a douchebag about the necklace with AP. Maria needs to knock some sense into him!

This is what real life feels like and he hasn't had that in a long time, since he's been so busy being a bitter douchebag. If only he could hang onto that feeling, he might actually be a tolerable person for a change.
It looks like this episode started about 5 minutes early and ended 15 minutes late, and you did about 1-1/2 episodes (since you got to the end of episode 25). So my guess is that tomorrow I'll be doing all of episode 26 and part of 27. Some fangirly screencaps are planned! Should be fun, with the pending catfight and everything!

Also, I thought that Sin-thia calls Ana Paula a "gata." I keep on hearing that word used as a slur against Ana Paula. But this is just me hearing it. I am often wrong in what I hear. I did get closed captions during that scene and the English CCs just did a "..." there, like either there was no translation or it was a profanity? Don't get it.
Loved the recap Sara. Rog just had to mess it up when he said that chauvinist crap at the end. Ugh. Right when we were having some progress and AP was warming to him. It will be a long time before Rog changes if he changes at all. That's going to be one heck of a wedding.

Vario--Tia was a piece of work all night. She is just full of herself and delusional (as Monday's episode showed.)
Madelaine--I am glad we've gotten rid of the whip. I would say it's progress but with these two it always seems to be one step forward and two steps back. The scenery was gorgeous. That turquoise lake was "wow!" There's no way the wedding will be stopped. Vainy is going to look like an idiot.
Elvira--I sent you an e-mail. I am green with envy that you get to do the wedding, but it's a good thing it's you and not me. You are going to do it justice. Screenshots are definitively needed for weddings. My CCs were actually on at that point and all I got was "..." as well. However "asshole" flashed up as bold as could be during UFCS. Whisky.Tango.Foxtrot. Just checked Wordreference (which I was too lazy to do last night) and it says that "gata" in Mexico can mean "servant" or "maid." I'll go fix the recap. Can anyone confirm?

That's hilarious, Emarie!!! I almost wonder if he'll stumble onto the wedding itself. There was a mini-production made of letting us know that Cupcake's wedding day was also GusGus' birthday.

Thanks, Sara, for another great recap. The actresses playing Maria and Tia the Terrible had a similar relationship in Amor Real. Tia's niece was married to Maria's son, but Maria was also a servant in that novela. The characters in Amor Real eventually accepted each other, but I don't see that happening in this show because Terrible Tia is such a hot, nasty mess in this one.

Super recap, Sara! Appreciated all the laughs, and found recap so useful because my subtitles mostly flaked out. Had to guess at some dialog.
Loved seeing Maria and Tia go up against each other. Hated to see AP and Rog flare into misunderstanding after all the sweet moments together.

Can't we get a little sympathy for Cinthia here? Sure, she's a spoiled brat, but look at her life for a sec. Her brother tells her who she can date and insisting he approve of the guy to make sure he's "good enough" for the family, and controlling every aspect of her life, whether she gets to go shopping, etc. Meanwhile he throws over her best (only?) friend, who granted is a total brat too but would've been someone at the ranch Cinthia could talk to (I don't count Efrain since I doubt they do much talking), and all to marry someone of the lower classes that he would never allow HER to associate with.
Hopefully she finds an ally eventually in AP, but right now I think she's right to be bitter. (Partly I'm just impressed with this actress and her and Rogelio's scenes are some of the best).
But I'm also enjoyng Maria putting Tia in her place.

I strongly suspect that Rogelio will never allow Sinthia to marry until Ana Paula influences him otherwise. While she knows nothing about running a ranch beyond taking care of her pet horse (which she barely does herself) she might marry someone who does or who is willing to learn. That would challenge Rogelio's control of the property and its finances.
If she never marries he retains total control.

Sara, I laughed a lot on your recap. I like the nicknames for this TN, and VanBruno is another good one.
I got mad that Cupcake got mad about the reason Rog is marrying her. First of all, did she think he was marrying her for love? Where does she come off being upset when she has her own reasons for marrying him. At least he does have some kind of feeling for her. That's more than what she has for him.
I want to take bets on who accidentally discovers Sin and Effer. Miguel, Tia, Cupcake, or Bruno? And then what will they hold over her with the knowledge.
I thought that Cupcake's new blue dress was a vast improvement over her others. I actually liked it. I can't wait to see the rest of the new wardrobe.

I still don't see Rogelio having to do business all these years with a man who was kind and respectful to him (Fed), regardless of what his daughter had done, being the same as Fed now having to do biz with a guy who humilated his daughter and family on purpose. Fed was NOT the one who did wrong (it was his daughter), but Rohell DID do wrong. I'm not going to accept that the situations are the same, because they're not.

No, I don't think Fed having to do business with Rohell is the same as Rohell doing business with Fed. Nothing can be completely comparable. But I do see why Rohell just can't muster up a whole lot of pity. (In part because he's a douchebag!)
Where was Fed's sensitivity to Rohell all these years? True, Fed didn't dump Rohell while he was in his hospital bed, while simultaneously dropping the bomb that oh yeah, you're a cripple too, BTW. Fed didn't put the engagement ring on his chest and say, "Sorry, you're paralyzed, here's your ring back." Fed's spoiled daughter did that. Obviously Rohell was profoundly hurt by that--he forbade Vain (and I think the whole family) from even trying to contact him at the hacienda or anything. That should have been a clue that things were not right. Didn't it ever occur to Fed that this all was rather painful for Rohell? Couldn't he have thought to alleviate some of that pain? Seven years of that for Rohell. Before the accident Rohell wasn't a douchebag, so Fed perhaps should have had some consideration for the undeserving victim of his daughter's extreme selfishness. But he went on with business as usual and expected the same from Rohell, even though for Rohell it obviously wasn't business as usual. That Rohell wanted to not renew the contract should have been evidence enough of that.
In a better world, with a better man would have let it go. But Rohell isn't that man!
And while Rohell was a complete d*ckhead for setting up Vainessa like he did, she did contribute to her own humiliation with her extreme vanity. (Not that this excuses Rohell's douchebaggery one bit, of course.) Few of us feel sorry for her suffering, because she's been such a bruja all this time. But one can't help but feel sorry for the "before" Rohell (back when he was a non-douchebag) because there's no way he deserved to get kicked while he was down (dumped in his hospital bed) like that.
I do feel sorry for Fed, because Rohell is a bitter, vindictive douchebag, and was capable of this, but at the same time, I can understand why Rohell's sympathy meter is set so low in this case at least. Ironically, I don't cut Rohell as much slack for making the whole dumping Vainessa scene public. He didn't choose it that way, he seemed actually concerned about not making it public, but he goes ahead and does it anyway just because Vainessa makes the big announcement that he has something to say? Rohell is resourceful enough that he could have wiggled out of making that announcement that way if he had really wanted to.
(Sheesh! I talk about these people as if they are real! LOL)
As for the necklace he wants AP to wear and the "I own you" line, he is SUCH A DOUCHE but in this case I think he blurted that out partly because he's already feeling insecure about AP's lost love, and suspects/senses that the shell necklace is tied to those feelings. His necklace (which I think is kind of meh-looking) symbolizes his hopes for their relationship (hopes he doesn't even admit to himself) and when she gets all snippy about wearing it (because he's acting like a DOUCHE as usual) he lashes out. Like a douche.

Fed did not sign the original contract with Rohell, he signed it with his father, who died sometime after Rohell's accident. So, for at least a time, the biz had nothing to do with Rohell. He inherited the contract. It seems that Fed respected his wishes to keep distance and only have their biz be done through intermediaries-- I'm guessing Bruno. Fed also in his conversations with Rohell very much expressed how much he knew Vain dumping Rohell hurt. I did not get an insensitive vibe from him. But he's realistic. He saw that obviously Vain couldn't handle it, so it was actually better for the two of them that she ended it.
If Fed has a heart attack and dies because of money woes caused by this business, what then? Will Rohell once again deny any blame since he didn't "force" Fed into the contract? It seems he eases his conscience a lot by using excuses like that. Eventually he has to take some responsibility to the crap he contributes to.

Sara, I agree, I think they're setting Rohell up to be redeemable. There are many lines they haven't had him cross.
I'm revving up for tonight's episode, getting a head start on the recap by reviewing a downloaded copy, etc. etc. I may make video clips (one or two) if I feel up to it. Bring on the boda! LOL.
Regarding Fed vs. Rohell, well if Fed considered keeping his distance from Rohell to be sufficient in alleviating Rohell's pain after the accident, then that can work the other way too. Fed can continue working through intermediaries. It was a good enough solution when it was the other way around.
And while I understand that Fed's a nice guy who felt bad about Rohell's betrayal, at the same time, he didn't feel so bad that he was willing to let the contract expire, because obviously Rohell didn't want anything more to do with his family or his company. Fed's sensitivity has a definite limit, and that seems to be his business. I don't think anyone in that family truly understood the toll that Vainessa's betrayal took on Rohell.
But of course, I agree, Rohell's a douchebag for not letting it go. He should have never set up Vainessa in the first place. That kind of vindictiveness is going to bite him in the butt sooner or later.
As for the possibility of Fed having a heart attack, and that heart attack being directly attributed to Rohell, well, I think Rohell's going to have to wait in a loooong line of possible culprits for any health woes Fed may suffer. Fed's got a selfish witch of a wife and a selfish witch of a daughter. And he is in contact with them every day. Unless Fed expires right in the middle of a heated argument with Rohell, I think it'll be difficult to pin the blame on Rohell.

(That way she can watch each ep. and have some idea of what's going on.) But I told her to not bother watching tonight's episode when it airs, that I'll show it to her later and give her a play-by-play translation as we watch. The Boda Episode is TOO important to watch with just a "precap" to go by!

I absolutely love all LQNPA recappers!! I watch the TN live every day but read the recaps anyway for the snarks and nicknames (Cupcake is the best!)
I've been watching TNs continually since 2003. It started out as a Spanish class exercise but turned into an obsession that actually greatly improved my Spanish.
