La Que No Podía Amar #40 Tuesday 2/21/12 Idiocy, Rage, Despair, and No Puede Sers.

LQNPA - La que no podía amar for Feb 21, 2012, Capitulo 40: Idiocy, Rage, Despair, and No Puede Sers.

This was another painful, soul-crushing episode, so I'm going to do a semi-brief (well, what passes for "brief" with me) bulleted-style recap, with some dialogs or scenes expanded, and with, of course, ample screenshots.

A few screenshots to get us rolling.

Por qué? Rogelio looks at both necklaces (Gustavo's and the ugly necklace he gave Cupcake) and wonders what the heck is going on.

At the same time, Cupcake is looking at the rings that Rogelio gave her and also wondering por qué, because she was starting to fall in love with him.

An unsuspecting Rogelio tells Bruno that he is determined to get to the bottom of this whole murder accusation nonsense. Bruno gulps nervously, realizing that his deviousness may be eventually uncovered by Rohell, who at the moment does have a few functioning brain cells.

Tia drops the bombshell (after lots of hemming and hawing) to Fed. His long-lost hija is Ana Paula. No puede ser!

After overhearing Cupcake say for the jillionth time that he's a douchebag and she wants to get outta there, Rohell rolls in and brandishes his whip in a threatening manner, as Maria restrains him. EVERYONE IS FREAKING  OUT AND IT NEEDS TO STOP!!! But no, they won't listen to me, will they?

Cupcake goads Rohell by telling him to hit her, but at the same time she looks horrified.

After the commercial break, Rohell seems to have calmed down and tries to reason with Cupcake, but she's not having any of it. The look of despair on his face is heart-breaking.

After a few obligatory No Puede Sers at hearing the news about his other daughter, Fed smiles and recalls that he felt the "call of the blood" when first meeting Cupcake.

Gus doesn't realize that he's one corner of Sinthia's love triangle. AWKWARD.

Rohell gives Cupcake an ultimatum about her brother. Will Rohell still help with Miguel's legal troubles, or not?

An overview of this episode. NOTE: Some events are listed out of order but you should be able to follow along and figure out what belongs where:

* Cupcake goes on a steady "Rohell is a douchebag" campaign throughout this episode. No let-up. No calming down. No listening to reason. No desire to answer questions like where does she get the idea he killed her novio, what evidence does she have, where did she find this evidence. OH NOOOOO . . . she's right and she's gonna stay right by not listening to one other person! No matter what! Don't change her mind with the facts, no siree!

* Rohell fluctuates between freakin' out to sad puppydog eyes, trying to make her see reason. But since she is Miss Self-Righteous at the moment, it does no good. He waves his whip at her (I think this was mostly for effect) but of course this does nothing to help dissuade her of the notion that he is a violent douchebag. Well, let's be fair, he is a douchebag at the moment—just not one capable of murder.

From the beginning of the episode: Rohell sits at the edge of his bed and despairs over recent, crazy events.

* Sinthia keeps on working on Gustavo. Smoochy, smoochy. He isn't as enthusiastic as she is, but he likes her and is sticking around. Sinthia invites Gus to the Hacienda.

Sinthia invites Gus and his sister to the hacienda.

She views him as a MUCH better alternative to that Shady David.

Gratuitous eyelash shot: Gus and Sinthia talk about his visiting the hacienda. Her brother is "special," she says (she keeps on saying that). Gus doesn't want to be the cause of trouble between Sin and her "special" brother. Not to worry, she says. They talk about their relationship and how it's still in the developing stages.

* Sinthia tells Vainessa that David hasn't stopped bothering her and isn't taking the hint that he's been DUMPED.

* Poor Maria is in the middle of this ridiculous nightmare, because she loves both Rohell and Cupcake. She tries, repeatedly, to reason with Cupcake but as usual, Cupcake is in Hyper-Self-Righteous Don't-Confuse-Me-With-the-Facts mode and is unreachable. Rohell is more receptive and looks to Maria for comfort, calling her the only woman he can trust.

Maria reminds Cupcake that she brought out the "old" Rogelio, and that he has a good heart and could never murder anyone. She also tells Cupcake that she was starting to fall in love with him. Cupcake is too full of bitterness and self-righteousness to pay attention.

Maria urges Cupcake to bend a little. Listen to Rohell. Don't provoke him more than she has to—don't wear the shell necklace and maybe wear some of the clothes that Rohell gave her? Cupcake won't budge a bit, and says that not only does the necklace remind her of her lost love, but also of the "evilness of Rogelio Montero." She's being insufferably sure of herself.

* Mersnotty wants to distance herself from Ernesto while he is going through all his stuff with his wife suddenly and conveniently dying, so she's going to take a few vacation days and stay with Sinthia at the Hacienda, along with Gustavo.

* Rohell is very paranoid about Cupcake and doesn't want anyone to see her. When Bruno visits, bringing some children's books for Cupcake to use with Margarito, Rohell intercepts him and has the books delivered by Consuelo. Then he has a conversation with Bruno where he says he's going to get to the bottom of all this idiocy. Bruno looks a bit uncomfortable by this, because Rohell has a few functioning brain cells.

Bruno has brought some fairy tale books for Cupcake to read with Margarito. But Rohell won't let Bruno deliver them to her directly, he asks for them and then instructs Consuelo to give them to Cupcake.

Bruno feigns incredulity when Rohell fills him in with Cupcake's theory that Rohell's a murderer. When Rohell mentions the boyfriend and asks Bruno if he knows who he is, Bruno says that he heard him mentioned, but "forgot" what the guy's name was.

Rohell vows to get to the bottom of this whole sorry mess!

* Some talk with Esteban and his love life. Mersnotty apologizes because when Vainessa found out that he was supposedly her "novio" (remember, this was a ruse set up to get Ernesto off her back), Vainessa dumped him. Esteban is resigned and not too upset. Things weren't all that settled yet between him and Vainessa, and none of this is Mersnotty's fault. FF>>

Gratuitous shot of Esteban (Marco Mendez) and his flashing white teeth.

* Mersnotty wrote a letter to Ernesto (about how she has to stay away during this difficult time, for his daughter's sake or whatever) and had Sinthia deliver it. Later, Mersnotty has an opportunity to clear things up with Ernesto about her supposed "novio" Esteban. She used Esteban so that Ernesto would stop sniffing around. She didn't think she'd have the strength to resist him otherwise. FF >>

Ernesto reads Mersnotty's letter.

* Gus visits Esteban in his office as they talk about needing paperwork (topographical maps?) for his upcoming work trip to San Gabriel.

Gus and Esteban talking about stuff in the office. Gus talks with Fermin on his phone and has an opportunity to out Juan as the traitor who was conspiring with David.

* Juan of the fishermen is outed as a traitor by Gus. Juan argues with Fermin and even insults Fermin's deceased son, which does not help. Fermin tells him to get lost.

* Cupcake tells little Margarito that Rohell has turned bad again, or rather, that he was never good to begin with. She wants to take Margarito away with her when she makes her escape. Margarito thinks this is for the best, even though he'll miss the cows and Maria, but he doesn't want to be hit by Rohell. Aw man, talk about poisoning the child against a man who was willing to adopt him, and, if many of the speculations of Viewerville are correct, may prove to be a blood relation.

Cupcake tells Margarito that Rohell is all bad.

* Sinthia tells Rohell that David is crooked and not to trust him. When David calls Rohell, trying to whine about his unjust treatment at the hands of Sinthia, Rohell pretty much gives him the cold shoulder and says that if David has been slacking off on keeping to regulations with the construction, Rohell will pull his money out of the project. He also tells David to say away from Sinthia.

David is doubly-dumped. Sinthia doesn't want anything to do with him and now Rohell is telling him to not count on Rohell's money, since David is Sir ShadyDeal (thank you UA for that!).

* In one of the several heated, miserable exchanges between Cupcake and Rohell, he is angered that she is wearing the shell necklace again. She defiantly says she won't do anything to please him. It just goes downhill from there. She "Usteds" him and calls him señor with contempt in her voice. (She's really good at the contempt.) He reminds her that he still is entitled to her nursing at least, and demands that she give him physical therapy. She at first snippily says that he should hire a new nurse for that—perhaps then he'll develop a crush (or fancy) on this nurse and leave Cupcake alone. BRUJA! The look on Rohell's face was heartbreaking.

Rohell comes to Cupcake's room, trying to get her to see reason for the hundredth time. He reminds her that he's paying for her aunt's support. He at least expects her to be his nurse and continue is physical therapy. Cupcake couldn't be more snotty or contemptuous of him. Now ordinarily I'd not feel that sorry for him, since so often he's been a douchebag, but since this time he's been punished for something he didn't do, I feel for the poor guy.

She dismisses his love for her as a whim or fancy, and contemptuously says that if he hires a new nurse, perhaps he can direct his affections towards her and leave Cupcake alone.  Man, that is COLD.

* Tia, after some lengthy delays and hemming and hawing, finally tells Fed that Ana Paula is his long-lost daughter. Obligatory No Puede Sers are uttered. But Fed seems happy for the most part, but now wonders how he's going to approach AP, since he was so rude to her at her wedding to Rohell. He also marvels that both his daughters have gotten involved with that douchebag, Rohell. Later, Tia shows Fed a bit of Cupcake's hair, which could be used for DNA testing. Fed says that a blood sample is best for DNA.

* Tia gloats to her friend Elena about how she's got two sources of money (Fed and Rohell) to try to milk.

* Elsa la Vaca and Vainessa gnash their teeth over this bastarda daughter that Fed insists on acknowledging. Vainessa is not told the identity of her sister, with the explanation that it's really better that way. Vainessa vows to never accept her sister and rants and raves for a bit. But she also admits that she's curious of the girl's identity.

Vainessa doesn't want to acknowledge that she has a sister, but is still curious about who she is.

* Elsa la Vaca and Fed have a dysfunctional conversation where La Vaca admits that she resents how much Vainessa has always looked up to her dad. Fed says that if Vainessa doesn't get along with him now it's because La Vaca keeps on fueling the fire of resentment. He then says he has to go off to work, despite it being against doctor's orders. Vainessa is showing no interest in work and heaven forbid La Vaca lift a finger to help.

La Vaca and Fed converse while Vainessa chats with Sinthia in the background.

* In another painful exchange between Rohell and Cupcake, Rohell rolls in, furious, and brandishing his whip. He warns her that she doesn't know what he is capable of and he smacks the edge of a trunk or something. She taunts him and challenges him to go ahead and beat her! He looks almost on the verge of doing it (but like I say above, I think this is mostly for show, because he doesn't have a history of whipping women. Even douchebags like him have their limits). Maria, who is in the room, restrains him and screams that he can't hit the woman he loves! But then he calms down and says that he won't, because he's not the monster that she thinks he is. He thinks that in time things can get back to normal and hopefully it won't be too late for them. (He clings to the hope that she can love him, poor guy.) Of course she tells him no way, no how, she KNOWS he's guilty (again, don't confuse her with the facts!). He's all thinking about the love and feelings that were developing between them and he pleads with her, with those puppydog eyes, to reconsider. But nope, no, no way, nada, no no no. She will not budge but keeps on with her infuriating all-fired assuredness that he's a murderer. The poor guy eventually gives up and rolls out of the room in defeat.

He won't live up to her low expectations. Of course he won't hit her. (But it sure didn't look good that you rolled in there with your eyes ablazing and waving that thing around. Dude! Anger management. Look into it.)

She's too full of smug self-righteousness to realize that the poor guy's world is falling down all around him and he just wants her to give him a chance to clear his name with her. But nope, no way, she knows all. No need for further fact-finding or actually, you know, listening to his side for a change.

He pleads with her, tears filling his eyes, to listen to him. He's innocent! Don't throw away what was developing between us, he begs.

NOT INTERESTED. Do not ask her to listen to the other side. She needs no further information because her mind is made up!

Defeated and heartbroken, he sees there is no use and no reasoning with her.

* Cupcake, Dani, and Miguel plot their escape from the hacienda. Miguel is not too keen to go off half-cocked (again, he seems to be the brighter of the two siblings at the moment, which is frightening, really). Cupcake castigates him for this. Cupcake vows to take little Margarito with them, as she refuses to leave him behind with that monster Rogelio Montero.

* Rogelio summons Dani to his office and asks her to give him some details of this supposed "murder" that he committed, so he can get to the bottom of things. Dani can't say much as she hasn't been given many details herself. She pointedly asks him if he did it. He swears by his love for Cupcake (the only woman he's ever loved, he says) that he is innocent. Dani seems moved by this and perhaps inclined to believe him.

He swears to Dani that he is innocent.

* Dani relays to Cupcake what she discussed with Rohell. She starts to question Cupcake's all-fired determination to believe the worst of Rohell. She even brings up that Cupcake was starting to fall for Rohell and that her feelings for him may not be so clearly all hate. Cupcake argues irrationally with Dani and will not budge an inch. You can tell that Dani is starting to see this for the bullsh*t that it is.

A fruitless attempt to reason with Miss Self-Righteous I-Know-it-All.

* Some idiocy in town between Miguel, Dani and Maripaz. Miguel introduces Dani as "the best friend of my sister." AWKWARD. Miguel, you are such a dipsh*t.

* Later on Cupcake is called to do Rohell's therapy. She "Usteds" him. He says he doesn't like it, but she replies that she wants to keep her distance. He's all puppydog eyes and again reminds her that it doesn't change what he—they—feel for each other. But she's rolling her eyes like a little snot. He lays back passively as she does the therapy. She looks so sullen and unhappy during the therapy that I'm surprised that she doesn't drop big wet tears all over his legs as she is flexing them. He shakes his head slightly as if this is the most insane thing ever.

Petulant schoolgirl eyeroll.

Oh he with the pleading puppydog eyes.

* The last scenes have Fed coming to visit the Hacienda, saying he's got lots of stuff to do. Then Bruno is consulting Rohell in his office, talking about Miguel's legal case. Things could still go against Miguel, especially if Rohell doesn't intervene with his big bucks.  Rohell, with a look of some triumph on his face, has Cupcake summoned to his office, and drops this bombshell on her: Is he to continue to help Miguel, as was agreed to in their marriage contract, or not? Cupcake looks impactada.

She hears about how things could go bad for Miguel without Rohell's big bucks. Rohell does not have a puppydog expression on his face now, does he?

The Cupcake pouts prettily.

Avances: Mal. Muy mal. But we see Gus at the Hacienda. Should be interesting.

SOMETHING FUN TO END THIS MISERABLE RECAP: Look at this video. Some of you may not have seen this already. Watch it all the way through. You will see someone recognizable there. I confess that I have this video (bought from iTunes) and have watched it more than a few times and it'll be going on my iPod. It makes me smile.

Thank you so much Elvira for this wonderful fast recap. Ah, this whole episode of more sturm und drang. Loved your title too. Perfect. The whole thing was so sad. Especially Rohell I hate that he is regressing to his old mean ways. I really thought he was going to hit the Cupcake. Why won't she at least listen? Or explain for that matter. He really has no idea where she found this evidence or what it is exactly. I know she threw it at him, but she scooped it up so quick he never saw it.

I hope Bruno is sweating bullets. I know eventually Rohell will find out and woe to him.

That Tia is so horrible. I wonder what kind of money she thinks she will get from Fed? I know Rohell is paying for her living arrangements and money for her living expenses. Maybe she thinks she can get the same from Fed. I am glad Fed knows about Cupcake finally. I am hoping he gets to talk to her at least before she tries to leave Hell Fuerte. I hope Vainy and La Vaca don't find out who she is for a while.

Won't that be something when the Guscake and Sin come to the hacienda? I can't wait for that. What will the Cupcake do then? Effer is too funny. He is not liking the Guscake.

Now Rohell is using emotional blackmail to keep the Cupcake at Hell Fuerte. I guess he feels he has no other recourse.

I really wish that the Cupcake had confided in Maria. Maria really knows which people are good, and which are bad. She could have set the Cupcake straight.

Glad that Juan the fisherman was outed. He has caused enough problems.

Surprisingly, Miguel tried to make sense of it all to the Cupcake. He is being reasonable at least where she isn't. As far as his personal life goes he is still a dipsh*t.

Thanks for taking one for the team in recapping and screencapping this awful episode. Alexandra was right. I'm at the point of wanting to jump off the ship. I don't know if I can take another week of this. I hope it gets resolved soon and I can't wait for Ms. Self Righteous AP to eat all the mean and spiteful words she's been saying to Rog.

I wonder if Gus and AP will actually see each other or if it will be a hit and miss case. Rog needs to have some vindication and soon.

Glad Dani is starting to see that AP is acting half cocked and not thinking this through rationally. At least someone is using their brains.

I also wonder if Fed will have AP submit to a DNA test to see if he is really her father or just stick with the call of the blood sensation.

I take it back, I know Rohell saw the Guscake's necklace but that was about it.

I got scared that Rog was going to hit AP with the whip. What a tense moment.

Oh, Elvira I forgot to thank you for the screen caps and that video. Was that video with Jorge Salinas, Pablo Montero and Eduardo Yanez done during FELS?

Thanks for the video too. It was a great pick me up after this downer of an episode.

Hmm. Maybe I'm not so sorry the tape broke! You didn't need the extra script IMHO, LOL! You captured all the basics I need, I guess as depressing as this cap. was. No way is RoHell going to abandon her kid brother. He's got to be hedging his bets or something to make her react and give him time to soften up a bit. Maybe Dani there will give her a kick in the backside.

P.S. thanks, Elvira! The screen shots really helped me out!

Loved your recap, Elvira. I agree, the plot is very frustrating, but your recap helps make it bearable. I have a feeling they won't let AP and Gus run into each other yet. But we'll see. It looks like Fed and AP will meet soon.

Thank you so much Elvira. Scheduling got the better of me last night and I was snoozing by bed by 8:30.

I'm not sure I need to watch this episode. You've covered it all very well with tons of detail and screencaps. I don't want to hear all the screaming and irrational behavior.

I hope Skeletor is given the most vile punishment that can be imagined. Surely part of that would be to find out that his hacienda was indeed lost because Rohell was trying to help and not because Rohell was a douche. (I know it doesn't sound that awful, but most of Skeletor's raison d'etre has been to get his hacienda/lands back.)

PS: Thanks for the pick me up video.
Jorge, I love you, but dancing is not for you.

Elvira: I must admit I fell asleep (after waiting up to watch this) but your recap made me feel as though I didn't miss a thing.

Your descriptive phrases are wonderful: "Rohell rolls in, furious, and brandishing his whip" and "He isn't as enthusiastic as she is, but he likes her and is sticking around". Your writing is edgy and on point. A spectacular recap and of course the pictures? Marvelous. My favorite was of Esteban. Sigh...

I'm going out on a limb here but I can't totally blame Ana for her angry, confused state. The evidence was damning, I must admit. I mean, finding every one of Gus' personal effects in Rogelio's drawer must have been mind blowing. She was still grieving for Gus and this opened a fresh wound. She needs to get all her anger and hurt out. Once she has, reason will start to seep in. As difficult as it is, if Rogelio would just try and stay calm rather than flying off the handle with that damn whip, cooler heads might prevail.

So when is the big visit coming??

Thanks again Elvira.

Diana

Gracias, Elvira. This was a difficult episode indeed.

The one bright spot in this episode was Fed. Considering that he wasn't feeling too good about AP on her wedding day his easy acceptance of her as his daughter and his willingness to protect her from Vainessa by not revealing this to her or Elsa is admirable. His concern about AP's reaction is intelligent and realistic.

However, I'm wondering whether he will tell Rogelio or whether he will refrain from telling anyone until the DNA test has been done.

I'm convinced that all hell will break loose when Mercedes and Gustavo get to the hacienda.

Skelator should be shaking in his boots, but for him to be found out now is too soon.

I do sort of feel for Cupcake. She's going to be dealing with a lot of crap in the next few weeks and she is surrounded by some vipers.

Thanks much, Elvira, for the recap. Great screencaps and I loved the captions!

Well, there does seem to be a tantalizing shot of AP seeing Guscake at a lake with some fishing poles in the avances. But other than that I would assume they have them keep missing each other. Who knows? Maybe it's a distant glimpse and she convinces herself she's just seeing things.

Audrey

Thanks Elvira for your recapping of last evening's events. Believe me, I truly appreciate the effort that goes into putting up a recap and I am aware of the extra time it takes to add these wonderful photos.

I'm relieved to see that Rog has come up with a fair and workable plan to bring AP to her senses. Hold her prisoner and use the implied threat that things could go very badly for her brother if she refuses to comply. The gentle but firm symbolism of his little whip is a nice touch.

All in all... very noble and elegant.

Carlos

Well, I just posted this to the Una Familia site, so here goes again. Re: Fed...Was it really ''the call of the blood'' or did he get a whiff of cupcakes baking ? Grumble grumble...time for COFFEEEEEE.

I also don't like the fact that the Cupcake is filling poor Margarito with fear. She is just so full of rage and the poor boy is so scared. She should have thought about it before she said anything to Margarito.

I also think when Skelator came with those books for Margarito, he was hoping for some time with the Cupcake, so he could reinforce her doubt against Rohell, yeah like she really needs to be goaded some more. On this I am glad Rohell kept him away from the Cupcake.

Love Esteban, hope him and Mersnotty actually get together. I don't think Ernesto's daughter will ever accept Mersnotty.

Agreed, Carlos. Rogelio is using such a brilliant strategy with AP. "If she thinks I'm such a mean old coot then I'll really show her what an ogre I can be." Yeah, right, Rogelio - that' should work out really well for you.

Rohell could solve this Guscake problem himself. With all his money he could hire a PI,independent of Bruno of course, and find out what happened to Guscake. The first thing a good PI does is check hospitals, morgues and police blotters. This way Rohell would finally know that the Guscake is alive. Of course Rohell would still look guilty, being as the wallet was found in his credenza, but if the PI found out who did beat Guscake, do you think Skelator's henchman would ever admit he did it? Besides people have seen Skelator with his henchman, Ulisses being one, so Skelator wouldn't have an out. Just a theory. Or if Rohell found out that Guscake is alive he could bring him to Hell Fuerte himself, but the Cupcake still would think Rohell hired someone to kill the Guscake.

Unfortunately, private I's are often just as useless as the police in novelas. In Salome back in 2000 the hero's controlling mother hired one to find the title character when she disappeared with her baby. He came up with nothing. Phone calls or visits to the DMV could have found her; she had a driver's license and had not changed her name. Five years later when he became a widower the hero hired another PI who failed the same way, even with a clue as to where she was.

The only successful and intelligent PI I can remember was the hero of En Carne Propia and he was investigating a cold case!

If Cupcake and Gustavo keep missing each other at the hacienda like that hospital scene I will scream loud enough to be heard at Televisa HQ.

We have to remember that when Guscake meets Cupcake that he is under the belief that she two-timed him and he doesn't like her. And now that she is married, it will be all the more difficult for him to believe her.

Oh, sorry I forgot to thank Elvira for the recap. I just can't bear to watch it until things are cleared up.

Elvira, I thought to myself, "Today is Wednesday, lots of great photos from Elvira!" Thanks so much for all the work and you picked some really good shots of Rohell and Cupcake.

Diana, I'll sit out on that limb with you. Though AP is being frustratingly stubborn in not telling Rohell about any of her "proof", I don't think her reaction is unexpected. We are talking about murder.

"Gus doesn't realize that he's one corner of Sinthia's love triangle. AWKWARD. " This was one of the best scenes in the show. I loved Effen breaking up the Gus-Sin kiss.

Hola a todos,

I am not watching this; just checking in occasionally to look at the terrific acting by El Guapo, Jorge Salinas. Enjoy seeing all the familiar names of recappers and commenters. Something I really need to know:
what is the origin of the name Cupcake? Many thanks.

Love, love, love the "triangle" screencap! Heeheeeee!

I don't see Rohell as regressing at all. I think under the circumstances that he is showing amazing restraint!

Elvira: Great recap and thanks for the video link. I smiled, too.

These people are making me sad, so I'm going to comment on the stripes running through the hacienda. What's with those? The hsllway or one room, fine. But the whole entire house? Maybe Miguel can be put to work painting, once he's done being the smartest person in the room.

Kelly

" "Gus doesn't realize that he's one corner of Sinthia's love triangle. AWKWARD. " This was one of the best scenes in the show. I loved Effen breaking up the Gus-Sin kiss."

That was my favorite shot and caption too. Excellent caption!

Audrey

Floridia- I think Jardinera came up with that name for Ana Paula.

Elvira:

Thank you for this visual and verbal recap. Such dreadful episodes you recappers drew this week. You have all my condolences.

Rogelio raising his whip like that is enough to make me never trust him. Why is that OK???

AP is irrational. How is she going to plan an escape from the remote hacienda?

I need this part of the story to be done. It is just awful and not entertaining for me.

EJ

Diana and Sara:

If I were AP I would be angry and confused, too. She certainly is irrational but I agree with Carlos—Rogelio's two options are, "Believe me." or "Prison, whip and chains".

How about he makes his case in a letter, as someone suggested yesterday, and gives it to Dani and Miguel to read, digest, and discuss with AP?

Just a small conflict-resolving suggestion.

EJ

Yes, elna, I agree that Rog is not handling this in the best way possible. Of course he's not exactly Mr. Stability, but the waving of the whip around pretty much undid any puppydog eyes he gave throughout. She's still in her "will not budge" mode, so his best bet is to get someone she will listen to to intervene. Well, even the people she will listen to (Dani, Maria, Miguel) she's not listening to. He just needs to wait it out.

I feel sorry for him because his world's gone to crap, and right after it finally wasn't crap for the first time in a long, long, time. But I also realize that she is being manipulated by Bruno and is going to think the worst. What is aggravating is that everyone else (even Dani and Miguel) are starting to smell BS here, but she just.won't.listen.

I will warn you all, this "dark" period does last for as long as it lasts. Longer than any of us would like (that is no spoiler, since we don't want this to last for any time at all!). You do have to suffer through! It's difficult! One upside is that Jorge Salinas really is awesome here. When I watch these episodes again I'm just going to sit back and appreciate some of the excellent performances.

We've got a lot of episodes to go through before the end and it's been firmly established that Rohell has ISSUES that have never been resolved or dealt with before now. Two steps forward, one step back. I have faith that he will get better, but it's not going to happen overnight, especially with people like Bruno stirring the pot and hoping to bring out the worst in him.

Elvira, thanks for the recap and photos and for the extra "treat" with the video.

The tres hermanos Reyes brings to mind the endless misunderstandings between the couples in FELS. We survived those, we can survive this one. It might not be pretty, it might not be fun, but between the puppy dog eyes and the eyelashes, there's something to look at.
La Paloma

Interesting that Rog is trying to pump Squeeky for information, but then when Maria tried to talk with him, he was too busy. I suspect that she could find out everything he wants to know and then some.

I'm sure that we're all happy that things seem to be working out at Boca de Cielo.

On a fashion note, I thought that Cinthia looked stunning in that simple red dress.

Carlos

Elvira:

Thanks for your encouragement. LQNPA seems so dark now I am tempted to hop off the bus, but Salinas is a fine actor and I probably should just clam-up and watch to see what unfolds.

I truly appreciate your recaps—both the words and screencaps. Thanks again for doing fine recaps.

EJ

La Paloma, yes, I suspect that this will be similar to Fuego en la Sangre, with annoying idiotic misunderstandings, that we must suffer through and shake our heads with wonderment at the stupidity. (I have just started watching that show. I call it the show with "The Three Dipsh*t Brothers and Their HUGE Sombreros.")

This "dark" period lasts. And lasts. It's almost best to revel in the "darkness." The performances are great, especially by Salinas. Man, he is good at doing miserable.

Elna, thanks! Yeah, it is what it is. What else can I say? They didn't ask Viewerville for their opinion when they wrote the script for this!

It gets better, it really does, but there's a lot of ridiculous up-down-up-down that we are used to with telenovelas.

I forgot to thank you properly Elvira. My apologies. I was so upset with this episode I was ready to jump off the plank. I love Jorge's acting too much to abandon ship so I'll hang in there while we course through these rough waters. Sheesh.

Carlos- I am also enjoying the improved costuming for Cinthia. She is looking more and more elegant. I am more and more interested in the Cin storyline. I want to watch her grow and come into her own. I feel more sympathy for her.

Jorge Salinas definitely is the reason to ride out any dark periods in any novela he's in. This man is probably the best actor on Televisa's payroll.

When he cried at the death of his daughter in La Esposa Virgen he killed me. This was the scene Clark Gable refused to do in GWTW back in 1939. (Alas, although both were nominated as Best Actor at their respective awards venues, neither won.)

With regard to the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul that is threatening to bog down this story I hope that Rogelio and the Cupcake don't hurt each other too much before the end. I don't want this to end up feeling like a Rosemary Rogers novel.

Elvira thank you for this exellent recap. Right now i can't wastch the novela. It is makig my blood pressure go up to high. I get so upset over lies/deceits and AP that I cant waatch until I hear something good about ap and rog. I know it is a novela and not real life but when i see things like this it is as if it is real (ie. knowing ap will meet up with Guz and her reaction and probaly like all the other novelas, they will hook up somewhere along the way to tease us and in the end she will be back to rog. And if she kisses guz, it is like cheating? It is too hard for me to watch this.

"Jorge Salinas definitely is the reason to ride out any dark periods in any novela he's in. This man is probably the best actor on Televisa's payroll."

I agree with this. He is the only reason I am sticking with this novela. I wonder if he ever tried to cross over into Hollywood. He's certainly got the acting chops to make it for sure.

Does he speak English? If so, can he act in English? Some Televisa actors can/could, but I don't know this about him.

I could easily see him in a trenchcoat and fedora as a film noir private eye.

Just think of this as doing our obligatory exercise in order to lose pounds and get into shape. It's just as hard to make it through these parts of a telenovela, yet how could we appreciate what follows? Yeah, it's hard as heck, but no reason to get off the careening train cuz we know it will right itself before the crash happens and we'll all be sooooo relieved and excited for the happy couple--whoever that might be in this one...je, je, je.

I just sat down and sped through the episode, making judicious use of the FF. Wow. It must have been draining to actually watch it without benefit of FF.

Thank you again, Elvira. Talk about taking one for the team.

Carlos--finally saw the red dress. Guau! And I loved the necklace they put with it.

That necklace -- if it is made of actual turquoise -- must weigh a ton.

Sure was gorgeous though!

Jardinera-
Thank you for that. I'm going to tell that to myself as I FF through the next few episodes, lol.

Long dark period. Really? [That really is a bit of a spoiler though - it's probably better not to tell people whether a phase is long or short - let us experience it as new without knowing or expecting.]

I already started sitting back and enoying all the crazy stuff, so I'm all settled in.

Audrey

Well, I'll let you decide how long "long" is. Since we all hate this phase, it could be said that any time at all is too long. Just sit back and enjoy the good acting! :)

What a downer episode, but the Video...hot and I forgot I use to be in love with Edwardo Yanez now I'm into Jorge Salinas! I am a galan hopper!
