La Que No Podía Amar #63 Friday 3/23/12 Much Ado About Mgrito, or Don’t Cry For Me, Margarito!
Labels: no-podia
"the difference between his Cupcake Princess, Paula the Pink, and the brazen Boonies B!tch-witch of Rich raised in the wilds of Chiapas that he’s now chained himself to for spite. (I’ll drink to that! Bottoms up, Babycakes!)" —and that was just the beginning!
"...Like Nurse Daniela for instance? Hmmmm! Now that would be a winning combination!" —I could see that!
"(Ok, Hugo!! You’ve earned points, but Green Giants still aren’t my cuppa cuppa.)"— I liked Hugo better when he didn''t talk.
I worry that AP and Gus will find there way to be back together. From the avances, it looks like it could happen. And after Mersnooty asked him about his feelings for her and his lack of response, yikes.
I'm hoping that Margarito tells AP what Rosaura said to him. She needs to know the kind of person she is.
I was wondering that if AP does turn out to be pregnant, and she doesn't want to cause trouble with Rog, that maybe she'll pull a typical pregnant with another man's baby and sleep with Rog. Then tell him it's his and it's premature.
Now I think it's possible that Effer wants to know about the letter because he suspects who might be the parents and he wants to confirm it. Maybe for blackmail purposes.
Kelly
While AP was praying, Rog just stared blankly at her having lost his faith after his accident. I wonder will he eventually regain his faith or stay a non-believer.
Efrain has the letter. Will he open so we can finally find out who is Margarito's parents.
One minute Rog is saying he doesn't want to be separated from the boy and the next he's telling AP that after they divorce she can take the boy with him. Bad writing perhaps or I guess I need to adjust my beanie?
Wonderful recap. Hugo was a little wooden, no? Oh, well.
I loved your take on Cinthia as mentioned by LXV, "Brazen Boonies bitch-witch of Rich." Gawd that's good. I have taken a real dislike to Cinthia since she betrayed her brother and herself. Snooty, slutty and stupid is not an attractive combination. Plus she is uninterested in Margaro's fate, witch.
Thanks again for writing such a thorough and well-written recap.
EJ
AP doesn't strike me as the type of vindictive person who would do that. Rosaura, on the other hand, would have pulled a stunt like that if she was younger.
AP seems like a decent person and she wouldn't want to deceive Rog. If she does turn out to be pregnant she may just out and tell him and hope he doesn't blow a gasket. Just my own speculation.
Judging from the previews, she lets Gus read the contract and it looks like they may be getting closer as a result.
I loved Hugo the peon putting Miguel in his place! It's like, "even us supposed simple folk can see how screwed up you are."
Would it be possible for AP to pass off a pregnancy as by Rohell? I mean, that implies some things which have been implied to be impossible. Everybody freely comments on Rog's reproductive abilities, and the consensus is that he "no puede tener hijos."
New word for me in this TN - desaliñado: messy, unkempt, slovenly. Andar desaliñado - to have a slovenly appearance. In general this TN has been using andar (to go about; to hang out) in many different contexts. I don't think I've ever heard a TN use it so much. It's a very useful abstract word! My favorite is andar de rogona - to go about begging after someone (usually a novio/a); to be needy.
Audrey
Pau walks onto the balcony and Rog opens the door to the chapel which is now spotless and shining, fully lighted with candles, and filled with fragrant white roses. (Darn! I wonder how many little elves he had to have to get the place spruced up so fast.)
Fabulous mixed metaphor there!
Insulin Alert! Too much happy, happy, joy, joy for one person to swallow! My blood sugar runneth over. Blechhhh!!!)
Can you tell I hate Hallmark cards?
Let's agree on one thing: The idea that Rogelio can't do what it takes to have children is what every other character in the story is determined to believe. And believing it himself is all it would take to make that true. But if this is not the case I think it would probably take some time for him to get his groove back after seven years of being out of it. So if the Cupcake has a bun in the oven already she would have to fake a premature birth somehow. I don't see her being OK with doing that. She's not Carmina Orangina.
On the other issue: I know that AP believes that Margarito is a good kid (and we know he is) but it will take a lot more than his account of events to get her to realize what an evil bitch her aunt is.
Efrain said the letter would be useful to him. Maybe not as blackmail for money, but he desperately wants his job back at Del Fuerte and now that the way back is not through Sinsin, he'll try Rogelio directly.
He's sure that Rogelio has an interest since Margarito is under his protection. I think he knows that Paula and Rogelio are actively seeking his parents (or were before her escape). It'll be worth double if the father turns out to be someone in Rogelio's family.
At least we know the mother's name is Sandra--and we haven't actually seen her. She is probably dead. I still don't think the woman that brought Margarito was his mother--maybe it was a madrina or hermana who could no longer take care of him.
In the last scene Rogelio offers to let Pau take Margarito with her is she's still going to leave once the contract is up and get divorced. It seems like either a slick maneuver or something he made up on the spot in desperation.
With this promise he can persuade her to go through with the adoption, eliminating her one big objection--what happens to the boy when she leaves. To himself, Rogelio is hoping that it won't come to that. He's convinced he can keep Ana Paula with him, or at least in the rancho next door (too bad, that ship sailed, Rogelio).
Meanwhile, I don't think Maria would be too happy letting Margarito just go away with Ana Paula. The deciding moment is still a way off and more negotiations are probably in store.
Anita
I saw him with his jaw line clenched and firm. He could have been trying to keep his emotions in check to keep from crying. He could also have still been angry that this god of Paula's abandoned him and let this identical accident happen to a child.
Anita
I too wondered how the dusty, desolate, deserted chapel could be transformed literally overnight. Seeing this, I reached for the beanie tightener.
I'm still trying to figure out how the plot will deal with a pregnant Ana, if in fact she is. I'm still hoping that the writers are toying with us.
I saw him with his jaw line clenched and firm. He could have been trying to keep his emotions in check to keep from crying. He could also have still been angry that this god of Paula's abandoned him and let this identical accident happen to a child."
I hadn't thought of it that way Anita. I like your interpretation better than mine.
I also liked the background music in that scene too.
Sin and the draping is getting really old. And the mio thing. She acts as if the Guscakes is a piece of property meant only for her.
I think Effer is going to blackmail whoever the parents are of Mgrito. I really thought Macaria would succumb again, but she didn't. Still she was liking that kiss of Effers alot.
Loved the family chapel, and who would have thought Rohell would ever go there. That was a real surprise. I am glad he cleaned it up for the Cupcake.
I like Hugo. I am glad he lit into Miguel, who really deserved everything Hugo said.I'm glad Dani dissed Miguel he so deserved it.
That Tia is on my last nerve. So cold-hearted. I hope a big anvil drops on her in the end.
So now Lord Shadydeals is going to poison the cattle feed along with Bruno and Vainy, and no water to boot. I can't wait until they are found out.
Hugo is a nice guy, beautiful body. So his acting isn't hitting it out of the park, but I like the idea of him and Dani together. Miguel "The Weakest Link" needs to see that Dani is willing to MOVE ON. She's been weeping over him for too long as he tries to push her away. So now he can consider himself successful—he pushed her away, and into the hunky arms of Hugo! Ha, take that, unibrow! LOL.
I don't think Cupcake would be cruel enough to sleep with Rog in order to fool him that the kid is his (if there is a kid). Rog is so desperate, almost, for any crumb of affection from her. For her to have sex with him would just make him over the moon, and he'd never want to let her go, never never never. Like he doesn't want to let her go now, imagine how he'd be after that. He'd have all sorts of hope and then what a letdown and betrayal when he finds out her motives. Poor Rohell doesn't deserve that.
What she needs to do is to be honest with him ASAP, even about the Gustavito. But since this is a telenovela, I guess we can't expect her to do the best thing or the smartest thing, can we?
I agree that Rohell offered to let her take Margarito with her after they divorce because he's desperate. He figures that in time it'll be harder for her to go. He wants the kid to "bind" them together. Even if they divorce, the kid will give him an "excuse" to keep seeing her and Margarito himself will want them to get back together, thus adding more pressure on Cupcake to return to Rog. I saw the wheels whirring in Rohell's devious head when he first suggested adopting Margarito—he knows it's a way to tie the Cupcake to himself forever.
Macaria's excuse "that there’s another rat roaming around the room that Effer’s trying to find"? That's easy--all he has to do is look in the mirror!
I was surprised Rohell told AP they could divorce and she have custody of Margarito. That's a big difference from his previous attitude/plans. I guess he's hoping that things will improve before it comes to that.
La Paloma
Could Vainessa's company get screwed? Is Skelator or Lord ShadyDeal looking to take it over?
Audrey
Kelly-ITA shirtless giant Hugo > alcoholic, unibrow Miguel. Miguel is more than alcoholic, he's, well, a shlmeel.
I really wonder who Margarito is related to. Rohell talked about already having sowed his wild oats. Wonder if Margarito is one of those oats.
Melodrama at every turn last night, and I enjoyed every minute of it. The acting redeems the cliches and blood-sugar spikes. JS so owns the role. Many of the other actors, e.g, Susana G., are very good in this TN.
Interesting point about the use of "andar". I missed it entirely! Thanks, Audrey.
In addition to your comment about how this is "must see TV", I have to add, "Must read your comments." You are too good!!
Oh-Hell was particularly handsome in his pain.
BTW I'm always enjoying that heliconian butterfly you have as your icon. You must have shot it traveling in the tropics somewhere, or in some enclosed butterfly garden. It's not a US species.
Audrey
I'm backing Hugo as the new love interest for Daniela. He may be a servant, but to be the personal assistant of the patron carries some status (bet he has a better room than Efrain did).
Audrey, I want to add my thanks for the helpful info about andar. Much appreciated.
Anita-I was also watching that scene with my breath held. Gosh, that JS is good.
Urban-didn't know they used the moon in TNs for time, but now that you mention it they do show the moon. I notice they use hair length sometimes.
Audrey, thanks for the mention of the use of Andar.
andaba en cena romántica-going on a romantic dinner.
Andar esperando-waiting
And ándale is used constantly.
If AP were pregnant, and IF the writers have her have sex with Rohell to hide the pregnancy, it will show their inconsistency. The AP character would not do that, and no way would she get a divorce. I'm just hoping she's not pregnant.
My husband is an avid butterfly photographer which is why I know about these things. We have a butterfly garden in our back yard - I designed it - and we have counted 84 butterfly species so far. :)
Audrey
I'll have to share the name with some friends who also like my little mariposa icon.
They even got the floors shiny and installed a celestial choir.
Please don't let such small details torture you, though. This is an otherwise very smartly written, directed, filmed and edited novela.
Anita
I guess this means that Rogelio's days as an atheist are numbered.
I am so ready for The Mean Girls to get their come-uppance, and I don't know how Rog will do it, but I am certain he'll pull a rabbit out of that black hat of his and manage to buy La Negra out from under Vainessa at the last minute before the paperwork is finalized/notarized or whatever it takes down there legally. I'm keeping my fingers crossed about that one. I'm also hoping that the cattle feed deal hurts only Vainessa and not Rog and that the whole thing backfires on that group of scheming scorpions.
Just a couple of general comments: Miguel is a fine actor. I do not like the character one bit, but he is certainly consistent and believable
Fun fact: the actor was in the last telling of the story, Te Sigo Amando
Cinthia reminds me of people I have known who were mildly mentally challenged. She is unaware of the motives of people around her, easily led, inappropriate in her relationships. Also, Rogelio pretty much tries to keep her with him and under his watch. He does not trust her on her own. This disability is not easily perceived in everyday interactions. I think we will see why he has been so controlling of her and why the will was written as it was
Margarito is a delight. There have been many comments about his manners. He is exactly as boys that age are. Bursting in and saying what is on his mind. Loud. Active. Especially a boy who has not been raised but "just growed"
Well that is it for now. Probably be weeks before I am caught up again.
Thanks again to recappers
For some reason, I really got a kick out of your following commentary re: Gus' warning not to be carried away by momentary passion:
"Sin says he is talking as if it had happened to him. (Oh yeah! Just wait, you screwball b!tch. You have no idea!!!)"
I'm also hoping Rohell will be able to foil the Evil Trio and buy La Negra before the deal is finalized.
; ? )
Your style is amazing. Loved every word.
I'm thinking Ernesto might be the perfect person to stand up to Sin. I'm kind of hoping that might be a future match (opinion only, no spoiler). I still see Mercedes with Esteban simply because Ernesto's daughter will never accept Mercedes. She knows it and we do too.
I respectfully disagree on the subject of Hugo. (Jardinera, usually we have the exact same taste). I think he's kind of cute. Maybe he's not the typical hottie, but for heaven's sake, this cast is overloaded with hawtness already! At least he appreciates Dani. I also think Miguel has better chemistry with Consuelo (poor thing!).
Thanks Jardinera for making my Monday.
Diana
I like Hugo getting into Miguel's case. Dani needs a distraction, but I do fear hunky Hugo might be headed for hurt.
At least Miguel is wondering if they can trust Bruno. Miguel, everybody knows you're an alcoholic, but Bruno the lawyer sneaks you booze. Think about it.
Agree with those who think AP would never set up Rogelio to believe the baby is his, if she is pregnant. To me, the whole story hinges on her being true with Rogelio. She hasn't lied to him about still being in love with Gustavo – she just hasn’t told him Gustavo’s at the hacienda, and he hasn’t asked.
Jarocha, please stand by for questions in the next discussion.
Gracias.
I can "fill in" for this Wednesday (like I did before that one time) with a brief bulleted-list-screencap-heavy recap, just so we have a summary and a place to discuss. Or if someone else wants to fill in for Wednesday (or has already been arranged to fill in), please speak up now!
Re: Rohell and his loss of faith. I think they're using his unbelief (and gradual regaining of that faith) as another way to demonstrate his eventual redemption. (No spoiler, just what I've thought all along.) He was raised religious, and it seems to me he is more mad at God than "done" with God. When he reconciles himself with his whole life situation, my feeling is that he'll reconcile himself with his faith as well.

Sara arranged for Alexandra to do this week's recap, but I don't know what happened to her last week or if she'll remember this week. If somebody wants to do a quick one for just in case I don't mind, but I wouldn't post until we know for sure where Alexandra's is or we're forced to give up on the waiting.
