La Que No Podía Amar #56 Wednesday 3/14/12

Lo Refrito
(without benefit of OPENING credits. There is a reason we don't call them "in the middle of the episode credits grumble grumble)
David reminds Rohell that he is no black-clad saint. The wheeled one had his fair share in the Miguel funny business. He said some other stuff too, but being the dumb asp that I am I rarely understand a word that comes out of Jorge Aravena's mouth (and it doesn't help that my comprehension skills get steadily worse the later it gets.)

Lo Nuevo
(which really isn't so nuevo. It's still more of the same underhanded, lying, dirty-dealing, out-for-myself kind of crap that has been going on for way too long)

Hacienda Happenings
Dany visits Miguel in the workshop. She asks how he's doing. He says he doing fine...hasn't had a drink. Dany thinks that's dandy and if he feels like taking a drink he needs to remember what he promised Ana Paula, 'cause you know, getting over alcoholism is as simple as keeping promises. They blah blah about what went wrong with them. He rejected her. He hurt her. He went out with Maripaz. So yeah. All his fault. He asks if she can forgive him. She blahbitty blahs and says maybe, if he works his but off to make himself worthy of it.

David gets cocky with Rohell and asks how things are going with the little wife. Rohell wonders if David is threatening him and David says he doesn't threaten...he DOES! Rohell doesn't want David to do anything stupid. David says Rohell wasn't a very good friend when he didn't support him in the role of Cinthia's boyfriend. Rohell is all "Dude! She dumped you." David thinks Rohell should have pushed more for the relationship. Rohell says it's Cinthia's choice. Funny, he doesn't act like it really is her choice. Must be "her choice" when it is convenient for him. Jackass. David leaves. Rohell instructs Hugo to follow the bastard and make sure he doesn't talk to Cupcake.

As David leaves, he sees Miguel and comments on his freedom. Miguel reminds David that, no, he did not steal that truck. David gives him a veiled "we'll see" threat. Dany asks what that was all about and Miguel says he doesn't know (wha? Wow. He is about as smart as a box o' blocks.) Dany says that all that matters is what Miguel does from now on. Her Suzy Sunshine bit makes me want to puke.

Tuxtla
Marcaria et all walk arm in arm and run into Effer. They are all going to hang out together. FF>>

Hacienda
Hugo reports that David left, Miguel is working on posts and Cupcake is in her room. Maria bursts in and reports the police are there.

Bruno is telling Ana they have to find a way to get her out of that contract. Cupcake asks Bruno if it's possible which sends Tia into a fit. Cupcake asks Tia to support her because Rohell says that Tia is capable of selling her out. Tia sputters. Whatever, you TACKY b*tch. Connie runs in (and tack b*tch of an aunt fusses at her for not knocking.) She tells Cupcake about the arrival of the police and that they want Miguel. Ana Pau asks Bruno "wasn't he out on bail?" Bruno says yeah, he'll try and figure out what's going on. Don't say anything in front of the police. Connie says it has something to do with a truck where he used to work. Bruno surmises David must have filed a complaint and Cupcake figures out that yes, Miguel can still end up in jail. Skeletor has weird eyes.

Rohell deals with the police.  The police rehash.

The Tuxtla Triad of Terror
Vainy and Cin eagerly await news from David. They are dying to know how Rohell reacted to the land being sold. They would love to see the look on his face. David calls and happy happy joy Rohell was furious. He will wait a bit to drop the "we're business partners" bomb. Oh, and the police are on their way to arrest Miguel. David will make sure the guy rots in jail. Vainy will meet up with in San Gabriel. I hate these people.

Hacienda
Rohell tells the police about his argument with his wife and her departure. He explains that Miguel left around that time as well...on his on. Cupcake come in and is about to meter la pata, but Rohell grabs her hand and as politely as possible shuts her up. She is one hot-headed Cupcake...hmmm, like one Rohell Montero. Bruno acts like a lawyer and Rohell explains the cops are just doing their job. Cupcake starts defending her brother and again Rohell gently shuts her up and says he's already explained that Miguel left. Tia throws in a line, too. Meanwhile Hugo gets Miguel and takes him to an undisclosed hidey hole on the hacienda. Rohell stalls a little bit more with refreshments. Bruno acts like a SMARMY lawyer. The cops go to search the hacienda. Ana Pau doesn't understand why there was all the theatrics about not knowing where Miguel is if the police are just going to find him and take him. Rohell says "you still don't trust me?"

Dany runs into Connie in the hall and gets filled in. Everyone is supposed to say Miguel has been gone about a month.

Undisclosed Hidey Hole
Miguel wants a drink. Hugo hands him a bottled water.

Tuxtla Tarts
Vainy is headed for San Gabriel to mess with Rohell. Cin wants to go, but Vainy tells her to stay in Tuxtla. She runs the risk of Rohell locking her up. It's better for Cin to stay in Tuxtla and deliver blueprints and hard-drives to Gustavo. Oh, and watch mama Elsa. She's nervous.

Ernesto and Maricela. She's having trouble at school. She hates Mersnotty. She's wants to live with the grandparents. FF>>

Hacienda
The police did not find Miguel. Rohell hopes they find him since his wife is so worried about him. The fuzz (ha! One of them is bald) leaves their card. Rohell will of course will offer any help he can. They leave and Cupcake is relieved. She thanks Rohell and apologizes for doubting him. Bruno fusses at Rohell and informs Ana that Rohell could go to jail if the police find out what he did.

On his way to Marcaria's restaurant David finds out from his lawyer that the police went to the hacienda, but no Miguel was to be found. David insists the dude was there. David waits for Bruno and is informed that the Skeletal Slimeball will be late.

Ana is upset that Rohell may go to jail. Rohell gives some orders and is about to leave. Ana offers to take him, but Rohell tells her to stay with her aunt...who is surely just as worried about Miguel as she could be. You can tell the Cupcake might be softening up a bit.

In Tuxtla, Gustavo has come to pick up the stuff. Apparently the project is not in Tuxtla. While he's there the maid informs Cin that Elsa will be eating lunch out. Rather than have Cin eat alone, Gus invites her to eat with him. She accepts.

At the hacienda, Rohell conjectures that it was David who sent the police. It's just too much of a coincidence that it happened the same day he came to see Rohell. Bruno says he also suspects David. Riiight, Skeletor. Keep talking. You'll get yours, you tie-dyed bastard. Rohell admits he did ask David to press charges, but later asked him not to. Rohell says they have to be careful with David. Yo, Rohell! See that bastard sitting in front of you? Watch his little beady-eyed a$$, too. Crazy-haired little focker. After said focker makes his exit, Rohell says to himself that he is just as much to blame as David.

Commerical break and QTH middle credits (grumble grumble)

Mersnotty and Ernesto. Marcela blah blah break up FF>> Sorry, I refuse to detail recap boring stuff after 11 PM CST.

Hacienda
Tia thinks Rohell must really love Ana to keep Miguel out of jail like that. Ana thinks it's just one more way for her to "owe him." Bruno brings Miguel back and Cupcake slathers him with  sweet frosting hugs. Bruno, being the cunning bastard that he is turns the situation into a way to make Rohell look bad. "Oh how easily he conned the police. What a two-faced guy. He's so deceptive. Now you are just more committed to him (comprometer)."

Mersnotty and Ernesto continue to break up. See note above FF>>

Tia wants Miguel to thank Rohell. The whole family is just so grateful to the guy. She nags Miguel. He says he's not a kid. She says he's acting like it. He says "look who's talking." Bruno keeps working on the Cupcake. "See how he operates? He acts like he's helping, but really he's just doing what is convenient for him." Cupcake thinks maybe this time he was really sincere. Bruno continues to mess with her head.

Tia and Miguel go to thank Rohell. Rohell wants to talk to Miguel in private. Miguel thanks him. He wantd to pay Rohell back. Rohell tells him to stop drinking and says he'll support him. Stop worrying his sister.  They have to be proactive. This latest threat came from David and he will want to make sure Miguel goes to jail.

Bruno tells Ana not to worry. He'll see if he can't work on David and get Miguel out of this mess. He'll work on his own independent of what Rohell wants to do. Ana says she'll just end up owning Rohell more. Bruno encourages her to try to get along with Rohell. Maybe the dude will let up some.

Bruno meets David in San Gabriel. David lets Bruno in on the "it was me who warned Ana in Boring del Cielo" secret. Bruno sees that David et al are hell-bent to screw Rohell over. He lets David know he is hell-bent to get his lands back. Now, let the intrigues begin. Apparently there is this ranch adjacent to the hacienda: La Negra. There is water on said ranch. Water that is needed at Hell Fuerte. Now if David were to own that little bit of land....no water, no cattle (btw: water dispute needs to be added to the bingo cards if it hasn't already. I've seen this plot device in STuD and LFDD.)

Maria wants to know why Rohell won't eat with the others. He's too ashamed to. She reminds him of all the good things he's done for Miguel: got him to stop drinking...sort of. Got him working...when he wasn't slashing his wrists. Rohell even risked going to jail. Rohell comes clean about his part in the whole Miguel business. Maria is disappointed.

Miguel rehashes the accident with Connie. You can sort of understand why the dude drinks. They talk a bit about Maripaz and Dany. Miguel won't be able to deal right with folks until he gets right with himself.

Maria fusses at Rohell about his part in the Miguel business. Rohell just so wanted Ana with him that he was a dumbass (loose translation. ) Maria says he needs to tell truth to Ana. He doesn't want to because if he does she'll never love him. Maria insists the truth is the way to win her. I sort of see her logic, but I kind of don't. Hey! Ana Pau, I'm the reason your brother was sent to jail, got the crap beat out of him in jail and continues to live under the threat of jail *puppydogeyesbutiloveyou!* Uh. No. He says he needs to win her love before he can tell the truth. Maria says surely she will realize all the good he is doing for her family. He wants Cupcake to talk about him the way she talks about the Guscake.

Tuxtla Heifers
Elsa explains to Vainy how years before she paid Tia a fortune to break up her sister and Fed. How did that work out Vaca and where's the money now? hmmmm?

At the hacienda Maria is STILL talking to Rohell. He is pretty pissed about the David thing and plans to go to Tuxtla right now to 1. Put David in his place and 2. Take care of wayward Cinthia. They blah blah about Cinthia. Same conversation as always. He doesn't want her to be a rogona (we've had this before, a woman who aks favors of men. Ana Pau used it many episodes ago while her aunt was trying to convice her to take Rohell's deal.) Rohell is worried Vainy is putting all kinds of ideas in Cin's head.

Ana talks to Gus' voter ID card. She cries. She needs him. I cry. I need her to shut up.

Maria wants to go get Cin. She might not listen to Maria, but at least there won't be yelling. Besides, Vainy probably wouldn't let Rohell past the front door. Ana enters and tells him to treat his sister like the grown woman she is. Rohell explains that Cin went running after some guy while Ana Pau was away.

Effer stares at Marcaria's boobs while she yammers. FF>>

Rohell is sure Cin has seen the guy while she is "supporting" Vainy. Cupcake wonders if the guy is so bad. Rohell doesn't have so much of a problem with the guy. He just hates that Cin is disobeying him. Ana Pau aruges that Rohell should not control Cin and every woman should be allowed to make her own decisions. I think Cin is an idiot NOT to be on Ana's side. She could have gotten her way about 15 episodes ago and saved us all a lot of trouble.

Mersnotty and Guscake. She still feels like crap because of the Ernesto garbage. FF>>

Ana Pau thinks if Rohell keeps controlling Cin, the girl will never learn to live on her own. Rohell argues that he needs to make sure the guy she dates is "good enough." They blah blah. He "tús"and "tes" and she "usteds" and  "le-s". He gets mad about it. She starts using "tú" again.

Tuxtla Twits
Guscake picks Cin up for dinner. She looks great. She gets flowers, but they aren't from Gus. It's a seriously hideous arrangement.

Hacienda Jailhouse
M-grito wants Ana to ask Rohell to get rid of the bars. Ana says no and they will see each other and read tomorrow. While M-grito is saying good-bye, Rohell comes in. He tells M-grito to come through the front door or kitchen if he wants to see Ana and to stop climbing the balcony. He really isn't being mean to the kid. He remarks that it's late in a tone of  "a kid needs his rest". It's kind of cute and M-grito is smiling the whole time. Rohell has come to tell Ana that he doesn't want her to think of him as prideful and as part of his campaign to be a better, gentler man, he's going to be supportive of Cinthia's dating GUSTAVO. Cupcake is muss my frosting impactada with the news of novio's nombre.

YESSSSS!!!! The comments have been turned on again! Thank you Sara!

GREAT recap, and a lot of interesting things happened in this episode! I will think and comment more later, but am just glad to see that we can comment again.

Sara, thanks for the delightful recap.

I loved, "You tie-dyed bastard!"
What makes Bruno’s lies so dangerous are that there is just enough truth in them to make them believable. He's just like the serpent in the garden.

And AP is a black and white thinker, she can’t conceive there may be shades of grey in there.

Did anyone else notice Rohell noticing Miguel longingly looking at the alcohol when they were having their "little talk"?

Sara:
What a great recap.

I loved it all the way through, starting with,

"David reminds Rohell that he is no black-clad saint.

Your Lo Nuevo comment was perfection and I laughed out loud,

"(which really isn't so nuevo. It's still more of the same underhanded, lying, dirty-dealing, out-for-myself kind of crap that has been going on for way too long)

Another commenting gem:

"Dany thinks that's dandy and if he feels like taking a drink he needs to remember what he promised Ana Paula, 'cause you know, getting over alcoholism is as simple as keeping promises."

Oooeee is that RIGHT-ON!!!

Altogether a sparkling, coherent take on another dark episode. Thank you Sara for this super recap.

EJ

Thank you so much Sara for this great recap. Loved "You tie-tyed bastard!" too. Yeah Rohell should look closer to home. Skelator could do him way more damage than he knows.

I am glad Miguel didn't have to go back to prison. The Cupcake would definitely never speak to Rohell again if that happened. When she finds out all the things he did do, look out!

So David, Vainy and Sin what a trio. I wonder what else they can do to Rohell. Especially that adjoining land. It does have shades of LFDD.

I too wonder with everyone yesterday about what Tia has been doing with all that money. She couldn't have bought that many jewels.

Love Maria. I like how she stands up to everyone even Rohell.

I never thought this TN could have its funny moments but Effer looking at Macaria's girls was too funny.

When you all get a chance today do an image search for truffla trees. That's exactly what that hideous flower arrangement looked like.

My apologies for the commenting snafu. iPhone's and fat thumbs don't go well together.

Sara, thanks for your recap. You made me laugh when you stated you don't recap stupidity after 11 PM. What a gem.

Good Recap. Thank You Sara. Water from another Hacienda LFDD and maybe FELS. BTW can anyone name all the towns and places in Mexico that have been featured in the Telenovelas particularly the 9 pm ones Starting with Fuego En La Sangre? I know it was Puebla and Xochitlan among others.

You recappers are all fabulous. Always coming up with new material. Sharing your take on the TNs, using witt painting a word picture of what is happening. This experience should be preparing you all for something...
I am trying to figure out how you would put that on a resume...

Sara--Your recap was perfect--just what I needed. (And mercifully you >>FF through all the stuff no one needed.)

Ana P's blind eye to Tia's behind-her-back machinations are hard to expose. She does scheming so well. And as Emarie says--just enough truth to make her believable.

Rogelio's blind eye to Bruno's behind-his-back machinations are....well, ditto.

Neither of them will believe ill of the other--an aunt or a long-time friend.

It will take them both a long time before they will admit it (how many episodes are left, haha).

Sin duda, Rogelio will sniff out Bruno before Tia gets sniffed out, unless Bruno sells her out to Rogelio to protect himself.
Anita

Sara, enjoyed the recap. I like the way you zip through all the action and posturing. My favorite line: "She cries. She needs him. I cry. I need her to shut up."

Who knew Miguel was a chick magnet? Dani, Maripaz, and maybe Consuelo dig him. Rogelio could learn a lesson from Mickey – saying you're no good for them and you're not looking for love and they seem to melt. Making someone feel like they’re on lock-down, not so much.

I like the way Rogelio politely shushed Cupcake when he was with the police. Unlike I who yelled "shut up, shut up!" at the screen.

Great snarky recap, Sara. I'm glad the comment section is working again so I can say Muchas Gracias. I loved so many of your lines, among them "Cupcake is muss my frosting impactada," "The fuzz (ha! One of them is bald)," and especially "Ana talks to Gus' voter ID card. She cries. She needs him. I cry. I need her to shut up."

Anita, I think the look on Rojelio's face lately suggests that he no longer has a blind eye to Bruno's deceit, though he doesn't yet have hard proof. I'm hoping that Rojelio's clueing in Ana to what Tia is really like may speed up Ana's realization--it may now come sometime in this century, rather than in the next millenium.

Thanks for the great recap, Sara! Love the clever Lo Nuevo section.

The Rogelio role could be played as total villain, with his love of AP being obsessional and creepy, and I'm glad that's not the take used here.

Isn't Maria wonderful? She is Rogelio's conscience, confessor, love doctora, and she's not the priest who usually fills these roles. I'm glad to see a Nana get to do more than cook and console.

Poor Cinthia. She seems fragile and desperate - like she had a breakdown in the past, or something similar. There must be a reason for Rogelio being so controlling/overprotective of her. He'd almost put her in a convent, if that were acceptable today.

Great recap!

Rogelio would never put Sinthia in a convent; he's almost an atheist. Which I find refreshing after years of people worshipping any image of the Virgen and women saying "Usted es madre como yo."

Efrain staring at Macaria's ice cream was hilarious. However, I'm still looking forward to a future dissertation from Rogelio on pearls and oysters.

As far as Skelator and Tia MentiRosa go one of them will sell the other out or murder the other before this tale is over. But we have a long wait for that.

The water thing is getting to be an overused plot device. FELS, STuD, LFDD, maybe DA?

I don't think Sinthia is fragile, but Rogelio is overprotective. Maybe compensating for their father?

Sara, just read your recap. Thank you - it was wonderful. ITA with all the great lines everyone quoted. You're a great writer.

Diana

Loved the recap Sara. The look on AP's face when Rog mentioned Gus was funny. Maybe a light bulb will go off now.

Efrain is the comic relief on this show for sure.

Bruno is a good manipulator but eventually Rog has to start realizing that he's been undermining him. How long will it take for him to find out is the question.

Yay, the comments got fixed!

Thanks for the fun and very snarky recap Sara. Great stuff!

Elsa told Vainessa that she paid a fortune to Rosaura who promised to break up her sister and Fed, but that right after their relationship continued stronger than ever - and look even resulted in a child. I thought that merited pointing out, as you can see that Rosaura was double-crossing big time back then. I'm sure as soon as she got her "fortuna" she didn't give a hoot as to what happened next.

I thought it was so ironic how Rogelio was so worried about Sinthia "andar de rogona" (go begging) after Gustavo, when he himself is constantly begging AP to fall in love with him.

Rogelio said that he was afraid that Cinthia didn't know how to "darse su lugar" i.e. assert her rightful place, around someone like Gustavo who had already dumped her once, and she won't be respected.. And he's very afraid of Cinthia being taken advantage of since he doesn't think she knows how to command respect from others. He may have some points here :) but somehow I don't think it's going to be Gustavo who doesn't respect her and takes advantage. Rogelio is right to be anxious over whatever ideas Vainessa might be putting in Cinthia's head!

I thought all these discussions were very interesting!

Audrey

Sara, I am thinking about your Rohelio comment about him being no No Black Clad Saint...

Will you all help me clarify what Rohelio DID regarding Miguel? My memory is spotty on the subject...

1. Rohelio was an investor in the building project for which Miguel made the out of hours delivery. He knew Miguel was working off the clock and that he had been put on a tight (24 hour)turnaround for the delivery.

2. Miguel was over-tired, and, when a car crossed the center line in front of him he overcorrected, the truck was wrecked and two bystanders were killed in the accident.

3. Miguel went to jail.

4. Rohelio agreed to help Miguel with his legal problems if AP would marry him.

5.Somehow, using Rogelio's money, Bruno got Miguel sprung from jail and flew him in a helicopter to AP's wedding.

6. Bruno planted the "evidence" that Rogelio was connected to Gustavo's "death" in Rogelio's desk for Ana to find. Bruno expected to really be able to off Gustavo and his plans were foiled when Gus turned up alive and with the Cupcake.

7. After AP confronted Rog with the "evidence" and Miguel escaped and was then returned to the Hacienda, Rogelio put bars on his room to keep him in at night and to prevent him from stealing alcohol.

8. After AP ran away, Rogelio told David to press charges on Miguel for taking their truck, unlawfully, when the accident happened. Actually, Miguel had been doing an-off-the-clock-job for the company signed off on and agreed to be David.

So, I know I am leaving out a lot. WHY did Rogelio say he was as responsible as David for Miguel's problems?

Why did David remind Rogelio NOW that he was no saint?

Why did (Bruno) call the police on Miguel and on what charges are they seeking him?

Is this the business where Rogelio in a fit of rage after AP disappeared, told David to press charges on Miguel for the theft of the truck in the original accident?

If you add up the plus and minuses of what Rogelio has done for Miguel, including getting him out of jail and paying for expensive hand surgery, where do we end up?

I feel so confused...

Any and all clarifications are welcomed.

EJ

Thanks, Sara, this is so funny. My favorite of many great lines:

"Riiight, Skeletor. Keep talking. You'll get yours, you tie-dyed bastard."

"Sorry, I refuse to detail recap boring stuff after 11 PM CST."

Too funny.

Those who watched Alborada were no doubt delighted to see our favorite torturer/flagellator/executioner has now found work as a police officer.

I was disappointed in Cinthia for saying "Good!" when she was told of the police coming for Mikey.

She has a way to go.

Carlos

EJ, I hope I can answer at least a little, and then others can fill in more blanks.

Miguel was "to blame" for the accident, the hitting of the people. It was an accident, he was yawning right before the car veered into his lane, but still, it was not deliberate and if this happened in the USA, he certainly wouldn't be called a "murderer" and sent straight to jail. Yet, this is exactly what happened. Before Rohell even heard about Miguel's accident, a dispassionate policeman was at Cupcake's and Tia's doorstep, informing them that Miguel was in an accident and could go to jail. So Rohell had nothing to do with Miguel's jail time to start. The two victims that he hit were reason enough.

However, he had his fingers severed and things were pretty iffy for him (jail, fingers, etc) and the family couldn't pay anything. That right there is enough "distress" for Rohell to exploit. However, right after he heard about the accident (he was at David's office when David got the news). David told him of the accident, that this guy that Rohell had recommended to the job (remember, Rohell helped Miguel get that job) had this accident. David said to Rohell, "Ordinarily I wouldn't help this guy, [with whatever] but since he's a friend of you [or something like that] I can." To which Rohell, in his finest douchebaggy style, replied, "No, I prefer you not do anything just yet." (I recapped that episode, so I remember! LOL.)

Then later on, it seemed to me that David came up with the idea to claim that Miguel took the truck on his own, and that he was not authorized to drive it by David. (Which we know was not true. We saw the scene where David told Miguel to do the driving.) David encounters Rohell at the hospital and Rohell basically thanks David for the story about how Miguel "stole" the truck. And David shrugs and says that he wanted to cover his butt for the company, etc. etc. So it sounds like Rohell didn't ask beforehand for David to do that, but did approve of him when he did.

Then Rohell put on a big "show" of telling Cupcake that he "talked David out of pressing charges against Miguel" for the (nonexistent) theft of the truck. Cupcake is soooooo grateful that she gives him a little bit of hand porn action. So at this point I think Rohell's douchebaggery is just that he's scared Cupcake's family with the threat of Miguel being charged with the theft of the truck. (I could be wrong about this part, though.) Miguel still is in deep doo-doo over the two people dying. That's initially what got him put in jail.

Then later when Cupcake flew the coop, Rohell, in fine douchebag form, asks David to go ahead and press charges for the theft of the truck. Which I guess he hadn't done until then because Rohell asked him not to (which was all for show, just to show Cupcake what a great guy he—Rohell—was). But Rohell is so full of douchey bitterness that he tells David to go ahead and do it, out of revenge. David does. But then apparently (according to what Rohell said in this latest episode) he soon regretted that and told David "don't do press charges!" but David went ahead and pressed charges anyway. So the cops came after Miguel.

So yes, Rohell is "to blame" sort of, but as of last night, he never was actively trying to get Miguel in jail for the truck theft. He specifically didn't want it to happen. As far as he was concerned, it was done with—David wasn't supposed to press charges.

Sorry that is so long-winded. That is my take on it. I have thought about this detail a lot because it is used and discussed throughout this novela.

Sara, loved the recap and the Tuxtla subheads that were a running commentary on the evil events there.

This cracked me up: "Ana talks to Gus' voter ID card. She cries. She needs him. I cry. I need her to shut up."

EJ, did Rogelio also pay a money settlement to the family of the people killed by the Miguel-driven truck?

La Paloma

I think he did pay a settlement La Paloma. Thanks for remembering that.

Oh and during the comment snafu an anonymous made a comment on Elvira's recap about Cin that should be shared: if she's so hot to get her half why collude with people who are trying to destroy the hacienda? Not too bright.

Elvira:

Thank you SO much! That is enormously helpful. So Rogelio is basically responsible for:

1. Withholding help when he could of gotten Miguel out of jail and he was pursuing Ana Paula. Miguel's getting attacked in jail helped hi case with Ana Paula. This was ugly and cruel because Miguel was suffering but not Rogelio's ACTIVE FAULT. It was more like a sin of Ommission that Commission as I recall these shades of grey. Very manipulative, though.

2. Impulsively and angrily telling David to press charges for the truck theft (which David did) and then trying to take that back later. This second one is much worse, really, because Miguel had the accident while doing work for the Company. Rogelio KNOWS that Miguel did not steal the truck—this is simply a lie.

OK.

And now Rogelio hid Miguel's whereabouts from the police which could get HIM in trouble (not likely with his money).

Thanks again Elvira.

EJ

EJ, yes, I agree completely with your take on #1, it was a sin of "Omission" because he really wasn't obligated morally to help Miguel out. As I said during our discussions at the time, Rohell isn't responsible for helping out any other prisoners there either. But still, he's allowing Cupcake to think that he would do more if he could, but he's not, and exploiting Miguel's horrible luck for his own purposes.

#2 is very bad, when Rohell told David to go ahead and LIE and press fake charges against Miguel, that was really, really horrible of Rohell. Evil, really. He knew it was a lie. But yet, Maria (his conscience! LOL) was horrified and I think she may have talked him out of it? In any case, Rohell told David to "undo" it before any damage would have been done. So Rohell is sorta kinda back to square one there. He did something that could have been evil, but "undid" it before any damage was done. It was David's decision to go ahead and do it anyway.

I think Rohell is "to blame" for #2 in a way because he knew about the whole fake charges things ahead of time and let it sit there. If Roehll hadn't allowed it all to happen, David wouldn't have had that ammunition to use against Rohell later on.

Sara, Thank you for the recap and for posting the link to the bingo cards. They are so funny!

Also, if anyone cares, here's a link that shows William Levy practicing with Cheryl Burke, his partner on Dancing with the Stars. He's got potential!

Thanks Sara. Nice recap.

and be a women and get on with her life.
B**** he dont want you. Stop kidding yourself
It is not going to work out. You had your chance.
Sometime I feel like going in the tv and slapping her in the face. Sometimes I feel like she is horrible good luck trying to get rohell back it aint going to work

Aleta, thanks for the link to "Dancing to the Stars"! I think William is looking pretty good there with some of his moves. I found it strange to hear him speaking ENGLISH, though! He has a marked (but not unpleasant) accent.

"Oh and during the comment snafu an anonymous made a comment on Elvira's recap about Cin that should be shared: if she's so hot to get her half why collude with people who are trying to destroy the hacienda? Not too bright."

Yep - that is why Rogelio is right to be afraid that Cin will be taken advantage of.  She's just not getting that people out to destroy Rogel and the hacienda means she's really in their sights too - no matter what they say!

Yes - Elvira, EJ that's how I remember it.

Rogel's first "crime" was one of delaying the process of "helping" Miguel to put pressure on AP to comply with his wishes.  Not good, but he was not the cause of the incident - just taking advantage of it.  Later I think he felt remorse when he realized that Miguel was almost killed in jail due to his delaying things to maximize pressure on AP.

Later, furious with AP for leaving, Rogel presses David to "reactivate" the charges that he had originally talked him out of - the claim that Miguel had stolen the truck when everyone knew it was a big fat lie. This was really, really bad since he knew that last time in jail Miguel was targeted and almost killed, and he knew that Miguel would have been jailed for a crime he did not commit.  Nasty!  At this point I guess he was so mad at AP, that he didn't care that Miguel might die.  He just wanted AP to pay.

Now, I kept expecting the police to show up at the hacienda any day to grab Miguel, and I was really surprised that it didn't happen before AP's return.  I guess they were just really delayed......

Audrey, my guess is that soon after Rohell talked to David about renewing the charges (when he was in his bitter vindictive douchebag mode) that he changed his mind. Maybe his conversation with Maria is what did it. So he told David to not do it. That's why the cops didn't show up all that time.

Only until David later renewed the charges (as revenge against Rohell) do the cops show up. Rohell had no prior warning because as far as he was concerned, it wasn't supposed to happen. He had to think on his feet (well . . . that's a figure of speech) to find Miguel a hidey hole so the cops wouldn't find him.

I never saw Rogelio rescind the "order" with David. It was more like he forgot about it, except that a couple of times he made scary threats to Miguel before Miguel attempted to commit suicide. And there was that one time he did the maniacal laughter (in María's presence?) that Miguel and AP didn't know what was coming for them!

It was more like David didn't bother following up on it until it was in his interest to push the issue.

Audrey

Audrey, I don't think it worked that way. In Wednesday's episode, Rohell specifically said he had called David off. Which is why David was gleeful in doing it anyway, as part of his campaign to get revenge on David. Rohell was QTH when the cops came for Miguel, and it wasn't because he "forgot" to rescind the order, it was because he "undid" it. We didn't see him do call David off (so we don't know when he did it) but he must have, since he's acting all outraged that David went behind his back and pressed the charges anyway. That's one of the things he said he wanted to go Tuxtla for—to rip David a new one for his betrayal.

Finally! I've been trying to leave a comment for forever!

Sara: Thanks so much! LOL! Glad I wasn't the only one who couldn't make out what Aravena has been mumbling about. He was much easier to understand when he was Chef Hawt.

There's another possible demanda scenario, although we didn't hear Rogelio vocalize it.

While AP was missing, Rogelio was desperate to find her. What better way than to have her brother re-arrested. He was sure she would show up at the jail. So, he asked David to reinstate the stolen vehicle charges, hoping he could control things at his end--with plenty of money to keep Miguel detained, but not sent to the reclusorio.

I never heard him rescind the order. I think David running into Miguel in the portico was as much a surprise to David--he said, what are you still running around free? Miguel says yes, on bail, well, David indicates, you just wait (my words).

I think David told the police where to find Miguel and that's why they came to the rancho. Rogelio was not expecting the federales' visit, so he did have to do some quick thinking.

It turned out to be good thinking and made for a believable story. David was pissed when the officer told him Mikey was not found. And when he was told he had left long ago, David was doubly pissed because he had just seen him there.

Rogelio's stroke of conscience came later, no? I'll have to review the last two episodes.

Elvira--Thanks for the refresher course on Miguel and the accidente.

Continuing on, Sara wrote:

"Rohell conjectures that it was David who sent the police. It's just too much of a coincidence that it happened the same day he came to see Rohell. Bruno says he also suspects David....Rohell admits he did ask David to press charges, but later asked him not to. Rohell says they have to be careful with David. After said focker (Bruno) makes his exit, Rohell says to himself that he is just as much to blame as David."

I think Rogelio already knew how things came down, but said them to Bruno to either play innocent or try to get Bruno to elaborate on what he might know.

Elvira, this still makes it consistent with my alternative scenario. Yes, Rogelio, thinking out loud, is just as much to blame as David because he didn't or forgot to rescind the order.

David might not have paid him any mind even if he had asked him to rescind the order, since by that time he was in deep with Vainey & Nessa to bring Rogelio down.

What better way to start than to get his mujercita where it hurt--and in turn hurt Rogelio.

Guess I need to go to bed.
Anita

Oh, and as for pressing the charges in the first place--he did talk David into doing that and then rescinded the order. So, he wasn't outright lying when he told this to Bruno.

I don't think he said to Bruno that he asked David a second time to press the charges again.
Anita

Anita, you're right, you saw the same thing I did. There's that scene about a quarter of the way through this episode where Rohell tells Bruno, "I asked him to go after Miguel, then I told him not to, but he did it anyway." Then Rohell complains about David's betrayal. As far as Rohell was concerned, the truck thing should have been dead and buried. He asked that it not be done, but it happened because David decided to drag it back up, as revenge against Rohell.

Oh, I misread your comment, Anita.

We never saw Rohell rescind the request to "undo" the Miguel thing, this is what Rohell is saying when he talks to Bruno. He asked David to go after Miguel, then he asked him NOT to do it. Rohell isn't acting amazed just because he "forgot" to tell David not to go after Miguel after all, and David did it. He's angry because he told David to back off, and David goes ahead anyway. After all, why would David act like he was doing something naughty (and enjoying the prospect of angering Rohell), if he hadn't been told to back off?

Had Rohell simply "forgotten," he would have had a different reaction completely, I would think. He wouldn't be blaming David so much for his "betrayal." Rohell is instead feeling guilty because the whole stolen truck thing ever came up (due to Rohell's douchebaggery) and also because he asked David to go after Miguel again (even though he later rescinded that request).

It doesn't make any sense, anyway, for David to not go after Miguel sooner (had Rohell never rescinded the request), nor does it make sense for Rohell not to rescind the request, especially after he got Cupcake back.

Gracias, Sara! I was watching this one last night trying to cram it in before I had to do the Thursday recap. You're so right about the same stuff happening over and over and over again! And those damn credits are bugging me too.
