Una Familia Con Suerte #171-172 Tue 3/20/12 (last half hour only)

Well folks, team ezra-and-melinama are felled again, between a power outage that knocked out my fragile and unreliable recording method and a hurricane that may be sweeping through here (according to the tape running along the bottom of the show), I better hurry, and I hope somebody else saw and can report on the first 3/4. Sorry!

Rebeca is still dour and resentful. Pancho wants her to take dictation of a letter apologizing to her, but she demurs, so he has the secretary come in and write a decidedly non-businesslike letter: "I was jealous and insecure and, well, Chela..." "DON'T MENTION HER TO ME," seethes Rebeca. "Well, I hurt you both. I went for what was easy and familiar. Now I know I must dedicate my life to you." He has the secretary make her a hard copy and gives it to her in a fancy leather folder. She is unimpressed. He will have to apologize about 25 more times, I am estimating.

Freddy got pummeled by Napo's Amazonian sidekick Deborah, because his father Veens called Candy.

Moni and Pepe have had a fight - her best/only friend Kari refuses to stop trying to seduce Freddy away from Ana, and Pepe is ticked off, seriously. He says, "you can't continue to be her friend," Moni counters: "I'm going to France with my mother tomorrow." That ticks him off even more.

Pancho gives a pep-talk to the Avon workers: now that he is owner as well as president, he's going to institute some kind of profit-sharing, so the more productive they are, the better they'll all do. "You are the soul of Avon," he says, all applaud.

Rebeca and Chela are both in the audience. Chela pulls Rebeca aside to say: "Enzo says he and I cannot love freely until everybody involved has apologized to everybody else. I always knew Pancho loved you, I was deceiving myself. I can't have Enzo unless you forgive Pancho."

Tomas has been accepted at the Police Academy. He wants to work for justice for the poor! He looks very hot these days, I'm glad he lost the cornrows.

Napo gets a happy peck of a kiss from Chela, returning from HER RADIO STATION. He tells her she can't call him Napolito in public. Vince arrives! Yelling "You can't hurt my nenenenene!" all the goons have their guns pointed at him.

Napo calls off his dogs and gives Vince tequila and an excellent Vera Cruz cigar which Vince enjoys so much, he doesn't notice Candy is standing right next to her ancient husband! At first he says he called Candy "by accident," then he promises there will be no more calls, it was a mistake. "IT WAS A MISTAKE" he yells.

Chela comes to Pancho's office, congratulates him on his speech to the workers, tells him "Enzo says I must forgive you. I was a fool, I lived in Pancholandia because it was familiar..." "Now you can live in Enzolandia," he jokes. "Maybe it was habit, not love," she says, and forthwith forgives him, shakes his hand, and then says, "but the hardest part is, now Rebeca has to forgive you!"

Veens, scowling at a newspaper trumpeting Pancho's now-ownership of Avon, mutters, "We need a new strategy." Tomorrow: Vince, Pina, and Arnold on one team; Enzo, Pancho, and Rebeca on the other. What a bunch of babies!

Oh, wow Melinama! That sounds like quite a frustrating evening. You got the most inportant stuff in those last 30 minutes. I'll work on some bullet points from the first part.

One thing that kept bugging me this episode is that Pepe and Ana kept bugging Monica to picks sides and kick Kari to the curb. Why? When Tomas cheated on Lupita, TWICE(!!), did Pepe have to "pick sides" and stop being friends with Tomas? Nope! Pepe just had a few harsh words and warnings to him, and they went on being best buds. Moni is doing the exact same with Kari-- scolding her and trying to talk some sense into her. Why should she have to throw he bff aside when Pepe didn't have to?

Vivi, Good point about Moni being treated unfairly for being a true friend to Kari. She doesn't deserve to loose her best friend who is mistakenly besotted with Freddy but is in no way an evil person.

Thanks for the abbreviated recap Melinama and Vivi, you are always to the rescue. My heroine! Gracias.

Here is Part 1 of the first 1 1/2 hours:

Lupe is rescued by Tomas and the Gang (Pancho, Enzzo, and Chacho) and is taken away to be looked over and after by Chela and the paramedics. Enzzo and Pancho take a walk down not-so-happy Memory Lane. “Remember when you evicted me and my family from my home, made my children cry, and broke the picture of my sainted dead wife? Ahhh…good times!” The two once again bury the hatchet and hug it out. They look at baby Chenzzo’s sonogram picture. Enzzo will help Pancho find a new home for Chacho, Elena, Tomas, and Lupita’s after-school program for the neighborhood kids—a place with a garden for the kids to play in (and hopefully more sound construction).

Miracles of miracles!! Lupita comes out with nary a scratch and with her legs fully functional. Yay! It must be that medallion.

Vicente says he will talk to Pina about backing off on pimping Karina out to Nene, but he doesn’t think it will do any good.

Doc Oc wants to get married, but Fernanda doesn’t want to leave the family home since she’s so happy being around her grandkids and Pancho. Doc Oc says she can come visit them every day. This idea is so nice, Doc Oc says it twice. Uh, oh! Now he’s having all kinds of trouble remembering things. We knew this AARP love story was bound to run into trouble (dementia, Alzheimer’s?).

Pina, now firmly on Vince’s side, tells Vince she is on his side in the AVON power struggle. She wants them to split the power 50-50. They get giddy and horny.

Candy erases Vince from her phone after remembers his amorous display with Pina at the wedding. She slips into a bubble bath with Napo, and my poor eyes REALLY DIDN’T need to see that. We learn that Napo wears his sunglasses even in the tub.

Karina barges into Freddy’s room, hops on his bed, and starts removing her top. He wisely leaves his bedroom and the house, and drags her out with him, telling her she needs to have dignity and that he has a GIRLFRIEND.

Pancho leaves his happy family in the living room, including Enzzo and Chela, , and goes to his room to call Rebe. He has a heartfelt, tearful chat with her and tells her about losing the Casa Popular and Lupita’s accident. She softens a bit because she can hear his pain and is worried about Lupita. She was also just thinking about their earthquake embrace. He tells her how much he misses her and that he’s not complete without her. Rebe is very affected by the call. Lupita listens in and gives him a pep talk after he hangs up. She then sings the Pancho Lopez song a capella to cheer him up.

Vince admits to Pina that he’s known for a while that Pancho was family, and that he switched the original DNA tests.

Freddy does the smart thing and tells Ana about Karina’s latest seduction attempt. Instead of thanking Freddy for his honesty, Ana flies of the handle and threatens violence.

Rebe and Enzzo convince Pancho to accept Fernanda’s shares and become the majority owner of AVON. They go back and forth about it being just for the money (which isn’t important to Pancho), or for the greater good (to protect the company from Vince and to help the employees). Enzzo tells Pancho he can count on him (he chooses to side with him against Vince), and so does Rebe.

My problem is that with the improvement of technology I can no longer easily do what I could do 20 years ago - tape a show to watch later. I don't understand dvr and don't have one. I don't have a vcr recorder any more. So I have a digital antenna on my balcony and I feed a cable line through the window (can't close the window except with pillows on a cold day) and put it through a Hauppauge box. Which is supposed to record reliably, but doesn't. The slightest thing confuses it. I don't seem to have the stamina to get back on track.

Here is Part 2:
Moni agrees to go to France with Violeta, who is very happy about it, tomorrow! She makes Moni feel even more obligated by calling her the light of her life.

Some other guy (mobster?), Sanchez, has threatened to give up information on Napo and he must return to Mexico to take care of it. This news does NOT make Napo happy. He’s even less happy when he walks in on Candy, on the phone with Vince, who has just called her. Candy tries to take the blame and say that SHE’S the one who called Vince, but Napo is so angry that he nearly hits her! He also does not believe she’s the one who made the call. Napo says Vince is a dead man! On the other end of the call, Vince overhears this threat, but the most immediate threat is Pina, who has walked up behind him and heard him calling for Candy on his phone. He claims that Candy was the one who called HIM! (Notice who sacrificed for whom when they were in the line of fire. Candy or Vince?)

Ana goes to the university to stalk Karina. She runs into Pepe, and then the two of them pressure Moni to dump Kari. She HAS to choose what side she’s on. Jerks! Moni drops the bomb on Pepe that she’s going to France, tomorrow.

Pancho calls a family meeting. All the Lopez, including Chela, who is doing a lovely job painting a baby room, come running to the house. Rebe and Enzzo are included in the meeting, and Pancho announces his decision to take ownership of AVON, but only if they all agree. They all give the thumbs up. Even Chela joins Pancho’s bear hug with the family.

Napo and Deb talk about her recovering an incriminating USB from Sanchez, and then getting rid of him. Candy eavesdrops, in horror. She is very scared. Napo then gives Deb the order to scare Nenenene, but DON’T put his life at risk.

Lamberto is happy Pancho is now owner, but is convinced it will only be for a year, since THE END OF THE WORLD is in 2012!

Tomas brings Lupe with him to the police academy to pick up his results. He passed! He starts classes tomorrow. They hug. Lupita feels butterflies in her stomach.

Candy goes to the radio station, lords the fact that she is the owner over her old producer, and demands all kinds of outrageous things (the prime hour for her show, an office bigger than Pancho’s, and total say in ALL decisions). It’s a very good thing SHE didn’t become president and owner of AVON.

Enzzo comes over to Chela’s and then helps her paint the baby room. By “help”, I mean start a pain fight with her, which turns into kissing and “Te amos” from both Enzzo AND Chela. Yep folks. She tells Enzzo she loves him. Yay! He asks her to forgive Pancho. He thinks they will only be free to love each other, when she’s rid herself of the rancor she has towards Pancho. She finds it hard since she dreamed so long of forming a family with Pancho. Enzzo points out that they DID form that family, and for years Chela was the MOST important woman in Pancho’s life. He trusted her more than he did his own sister with the well being of his kids. She was the pillar of his home. She and Pancho will always be family, and family always forgive each other. Chela says he’s right and she’ll try.

Deb give Freddy a beatdown and scares off his bodyguards with her high kicks. Even Super Pepe is powerless, even though he tries to help. Deb says it would be a shame to break Pepe’s pretty face. Guess she didn’t have the same concern for Freddy, since he’s left with a pretty bruised mug.

Sorry for the typos. That was a paint fight, not a pain fight that Chela and Enzzo had. It was very cute. My favorite part of the episodes.

Thank you Melinama, Ezra and Vivi for this great recap. I really loved this episode, especially that paint fight Chela and Enzzo had. I loved the kiss the best. It's about time. Now if only Rebe and Pancho would get over themselves.

I am with you Vivi about Moni and Kari. Moni shouldn't have to give up her best friend, she does the right thing always and tells Kari to knock it off. Kari used to be so sweet, but she is being bamboozled by Pina which isn't helping.

I wondered how long it would take for Vins to call Candy. I felt for Pina as far as Vins goes.

That scene with Napo and Vins was very funnny. So I guess Vins does drink Tequila. Everytime I have seen Sergio Sendel in a TN he always seemed to be drinking whiskey even in DA.

I like how Pancho always calls a family meeting when it is important. I worry about Dr Oc he does seem to be getting dementia or Alzhiemers.

What are we going to call the two seperate teams at Avon? We can't call Pina, Arnold and Vins the three pesketeers. What can we call Pancho, Enzzo and Rebe? No wonder Berto is always afraid. That was too funny. Both Rebe and Pancho tried to tell him it was all stuff and nonsense.

So Moni is going to France with Violetta. I hope Violetta really gets treatment.

Glad Lupe survived and Tomas is now going to the Police Academy. I hope he is able to help Tanquie the guy that couldn't even afford copies, that was his cellmate in prison. It seems he is doing this for himself.

Thank you Melinama and Vivi for the excellent summaries. Still trying to sort most of this out but I thought many of the scenes with Rebe, Pancho and Chela. Very relieved that Lupita literally survived with nary a scratch.

j@Melinama...loved your quip about estimating Pancho will need to apologize at least 25 more times before [glum clunky}* Rebe will forgive him.

And speaking of...I do love the little Sunday School PSA's on the necessity of forgiveness. Resentment and rancor CAN poison any future relationships and I thought the lesson was very apt. If I'd had a hunky Sunday School teacher like Enzo, I might have learned this vital lesson much earlier. I certainly would have paid verrrry close attention.

*my words

Thanks Melinama for this recap and Viv for your work as well. And I also agree with your point Vivi about Moni not having to give up Kari just b/c the latter is acting stupid.

I thought it funny that Pina called Rebecca Rebbrers though I'm finding her meddling with Freddie vexing.

JudyB - I think many of us could learn a lot from teachers who look like Enzo and not just Sunday School lesson...brain surgery, rocket science are other topics that come to mind with inspiring teachers ;)

Judy- I would have kept attending church if I had a Sunday school teacher who looked like Enzzo! That would have definitely brought me closer to God... ;-)

Madelaine- I was also happy to see that Tomas really is inpsired to be a police officer for himself, and to help others. He seems to have found his calling. Hopefully, we will get more of those topless shots of him as he trains to be a cop. I'm hoping he'll be on the detective track. Being a cop in Mexico is VERY dangerous right now though.

Sorry for all the problems last night Melinama. But you are a trooper to come through with what you did. We are so grateful to you for this site.
Thanks too Vivi for filling in the missing parts.

Enzo is turning into my favorite person on this TN. I enjoyed the paint fight scene -- though I thought Chela was going overboard ruining his clothes when all he did was get a little paint on her skin. I was so glad when Chela responded with love this time. Enzo's instincts are so good. His condition that Chela needed to forgive Pancho before they could move forward was wonderful advice.

I agree with everyone about the unfair position everyone is putting Moni into. I had totally forgotten the parallel situation with Tomás & Lupita. Good catch Vivi.

I'm bummed about the impending story line about Doc Oc. They are so cute together. I hope it's another PSA about some health issue which ca be dealt with -- and not Alzheimer's.

I'm leery about Moni going off to France with Violetta. I don't trust that Glamason.

With yesterday's mixup I didn't get on to the recap until late. So let me send your best wishes today, Cheryl. Glaad the eye surgery went well.

It's almost Thursday -- time for more basketball. I'm sorry about Purdue & VCU. Good luck Carlos & JudyB. I hope Balor, OSU & our Syracuse Orangemen all have success this weekend.

Our thoughts are with all of our friends in the earthquake zone -- or who have friends & famly there. That was very weird to have the TN earthquake & then the real one.

And lastly-- a happy día festivo de Benito Juarez.

Thanks for the excellent tag team recap, Melinama and Vivi!

I agree that Pepe and Ana are being very unfair to Moni. Moni has done nothing but try to get Kari to shape up. Not to mention, Ana was after Freddie while he was treating Elena horribly, and Pepe was chasing and sneak attack kissing Moni before she had broken up with Freddie. They shouldn't be blaming Freddie for Kari's behavior or insisting Moni turn her back on her friend.

So glad Lupita is fine. But she needs a new place for her school...how about Alex's granny's house? Is that still available?

I would have liked the paint fight better if it had been water, or if Enzo had changed into grubbies to help paint. Ruining good clothes for no reason pains me. I'll just tell myself he has a really excellent dry cleaner. I still think Chela is kind of a drip but I'm glad they're happy together again.

Candy sure did get on a power trip in a hurry. It would probably be easier to give her program top priority if she bothered to record one more than once a month or so.

Did anyone else notice the book Rebers was reading? I think it was titled "Tu Media Naranja" and there was a big picture of an orange on the front. Too funny. Speaking of the sunkist hues, Violeta sure seems to have gotten a good tan in the manicomio.

Julia- I didn't notice the book. How funny. Good eye!

If I were Moni, I'd be looking forward to going to France to get away from Ana, Pepe, and Kari.

I also feel for Freddy who really has no support from anywhere these days. The Lopez still look at him with suspicion and haven't totally accepted him with open arms. Despite having sacrificed his grad school scholarship, all his gets is grief from Ana. His parents are nuts and his mom refuses to accept his girlfriend. He has crazy Kari after him all the time. And his best/only friend is dead.

Oh! And he has a gangster after him because his immature father can't keep away from his mistress.

Hooray, I finally had time to watch an episode of Familia, it's been a couple of weeks. I must admit that unlike some shows things do seem to move right along in this one. Even though I haven't watched I have been reading the recaps regularly and enjoying them very much.

Vivi, Freddy has Abeja and his new sister, not that they are a huge help to him, but at least they like him.

Chela is kind of a drip but I just love her coupled up with Enzo. They always make me smile.

Melinama, it sounds like you have had your own telenovela going on in your neck of the woods. I was glad to read that Ez is OK. Sorry to hear about your DVR woes though. Thanks for your 30-minute recap and also to Super Vivi for saving the day.
