El Abismo de pasión #26 4/16/12: Abismo de a Lying, Scheming, Orange-tinted, Slut-ho.

El Refrito
Padre is proud of Gael.
Alfie receives Guido the visitor in her recámara. He arranges a job for Paolo in the procesadora.
It’s Ingrid Navarro (played by Isabella Camil)! Gael’s mama is back!

Lo Nuevo
Padre gives Ingrid a piece of his mind for having abandoned her child. She had no other choice! She had nothing to offer the child! Padre tells her that Gael may be a grown man,he doesn't need a mother. Padre always had the feeling that for her, Gael was a problem. Gael thinks his parents are dead. Ingrid understands that her sudden appearance is going to shake things up, but she wants to get her child back. Padre thinks she has no right to bother Gael. She is going to fight to get him back. She takes her rolling bag and leaves. Padre prays.

Elisa calls home and explains the Gabino/Lucio drama to Carmeany. Elisa asks her aunt to explain to dad she’ll be with her madrina. As Carmeany hangs up, Lola asks who was calling so late. Carmeany lies and says it was a wrong number.

Blanca talks to the unconscious Lucio. Typical “you've got to get better/don’t leave me alone/I need you” TN dialogue. Elisa comes in to check on Lucio. Blanca (wow she’s a drippy crier) asks if Elisa called home. Blanca is glad Elisa is there with her. Pessimism and tears…until Lucio wakes and wants water, wonders why Blanca is crying and asks who died . That old scamp!

Dam comes looking for Flo in her bedroom. He sees the amulet and throws it in the trash. Flo asks why he did that. Dam explains he now thinks it’s not worth it. It’s a bit of foolishness. He bought it to help his father and a few days later he died, so the amulet is not as lucky as he thought. Flo tells him not to think of it as an amulet but as just something pretty. She rescues it from the trash and puts it on. Smoochies and sax (not a typo.)

Gael comes looking for Padre in the church. Padre tells him he’s praying for God to give Gael strength to face the problems life is going to throw at him. Gael doesn’t understand and Padre explains that suddenly he realizes that Gael is grown and while Padre has given him everything he could, decisions about Gael’s life are all in Gael’s hands. Padre Lupe is Gael’s dad…not bio-dad, but you know what I mean. He tried to give him as normal a life as he could. Padre explains further how much he loves Gael and how everything he did was from the heart. He knows he may have made mistakes, but he cares about Gael and loves him like a son.. Gael would never judge him harshly. They hug. Fabulous scene. *recapper gets misty eyed*

Meahwhile, Ingrid has arrived at the hotel and is being shown her room. The Lady of the Inn (played by one of the gossips in STuD) is nosy and asks her how long she’s staying and if she’s seen Ingrid before in La Ermita. She seems familiar. Suddenly Ingrid is messing with her hair and appears to me to be trying to hide her face. Ingrid denies having been in town before. Nosy Lady of the Inn says she must have confused the guest with someone else and leaves.

Lucio is annoyed at having to stay at the hospital. Dr. Toofar says he can go home, but must rest and may still have a headache and dizziness. Doc asks if they will be pressing charges against Gabino. Blanca says yes. Lucio says no. He thinks it would just make things worse.  Blanca tells Elisa to head home. She has to rest after spending THE WHOLE NIGHT at the hospital. As she leaves she asks Doc if he has the results of the blood test yet. He doesn’t, but he will let her know as soon as he does.

Gabino is waiting for Elisa right outside the hospital. He asks about Lucio and Elisa tells him he’s fine, but if anything had happened to Lucio Gabino would be in jail. Gabino says everything is ok, so there's nothing to pay. Thanks to the CC I know is mush mouthed line was that he wanted to kiss Elisa the night before and find out if she was as skilled as her mother (lines I wish I *hadn't* gotten a translation for.) Elisa tells him not to talk bad about her mother.  Doc T comes out and asks if there’s a problem. Elisa says it’s nothing she can’t solve herself. Gabino slithers away.

Is it sad how much I 1. Love the theme song and 2. Look forward to seeing Steffie with little Elisa in the opening credits?

Lola tells Assgusto how worried she is that Elisa did not sleep at home ‘cause Carmeany is a beech and didn’t tell anyone about Lucio and the hospital and OMG the orange ho’ is in the next room eavesdropping and smiling like crazy. *recapper seethe* Assgusto, of course, thinks the worst of his daughter. She must have spent the night with someone.

Paolo clearly enunciates his disgust with the coffee. Dam comes in and finds out that his mami has found a position for the Lay-about-Paolo at the procesadora. Dam goes to his mother’s room to ask about it. She’s miffed he doesn’t ask about her health first. He asks about her health like a good little mama’s boy. Alfabitch says she’s fine and now will answer his question. Yes, Paolo the Slouch will now be working at the procesadora as a favor to Guido. Dam is non-plussed. Paolo doesn’t even know how to clip his own nails! He doesn’t want to work; he just wants easy money and will cause problems. Alfie is willing to run the risk. Dam doesn’t seem to be interested in running the place, so she has to find someone who is. Paolo may not be an Arango, but he’s like family. Dam argues that Paolo el Perezoso hasn’t the ability to run the Arango procesadora. Well, at least he’s interested, says Alfie. What bothers Dam more: that Paolo will be in charge or that he’s staying to get close to Elisa? Dam says Elisa has nothing to do with it, but mom thinks it does.

Elisa arrives home only to be thwacked by Assgusto. *recapper seethes again* Assgusto accuses her of spending the night with Paolo and tries to backhand her, but Elisa explains everything…even about calling the house and leaving a message with Carmina, who comes in and plays like she completely forgot. *recapper seethe rage seethe* Carmina tells her to wash up and change so they can go to Dr. Toofar’s office. Elisa says no way. Assgusto offers a feeble-ass apology. Elisa doesn’t accept it and tells dad he will never hit her again. Assgusto stink-eyes Carmina. Carmina manages to look a smidge contrite, but it’s just a ruse *seethe seethe seethe*. Lola has seen all of this and she looks pithed.

Alfonsina and Bore-gonia gossip about the Gab/Lucio fight and Gabino in general. Bore-gonia comes up with a take on the fight that makes it look like a flirty Elisa is to blame. Alfie agrees that must be what happened.

Dr. Toofar tries to explain to Paloma about his hugging the Orange. She knows what she saw and “hugging” is very different from “about to kiss”; but really he doesn’t need to explain it’s none of her business. He asks her not to tell anyone since really anything there was between he and Carmina is over. Paloma is glad to hear this and tries to explain that aside from him being married and having a family, Carmina is also a selfish, unfeeling, self-serving spider who will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Doc doesn’t think Paloma should badmouth his little Naranja o’ lava luvin’. Paloma says she knows what’s she’s talking about- that woman has caused all kinds of suffering for Elisa.

Elisa is applying make-up to cover the bruise left by her ass of a father. Lola apologizes to Elisa for telling Assman about Elisa not sleeping at home. Elisa thinks the blame lies squarely with Carmina for not giving Assman the message. Lola connects the Elisa called/wrong number dots and asks Elisa if she wants her to tell her dad that Carmina hid the information about Elisa’s whereabouts on purpose. Elisa says it won’t help. Tia Naranja hated her since even when her mom was alive and will do anything to destroy her. Lola says as long as she’s around she won't allow that.

Paolo makes a visit. Tia tells him Elisa probably won’t see him and would probably be pithed that Paolo is there. This leads to a conversation about whether the stuff they say in town about her is true. Tia says she can help him and he can find out  for himself if what they say is true or not. Paolo wants to know why Tia is so ready to help him. She tells him that’s her business and to trust her. Paolo: slimy, lazy and blinded by Naranja’s *ahem* assets.

What you are about to hear is a montón of mierda . Tia apologizes to Elisa about not giving Assman the message last night. Elisa doesn’t believe a word of it and knows Tia did it so the father/daughter relationship will continue to disintegrate. Tia monologues about being sorry. She wishes they got along better and how untrue it is she wants their relationship to be so bad. Tia says she wants the three of them to have a normal home life and she’ll do whatever she can for that to happen. *recapper wretches* Segue to the doctor’s appointment. Tia says the reconciliation ball is Elisa's court. Elisa agrees to go with Tia.  Tía cancelled the appointment. The results aren’t ready. Well, says Elisa, let me know when they are. I can go with you and get my results to. Cara naranja impactada de Tia. Elisa explains about the blood work Doc took the night before.

Assman talks to Doc about not being able to get Elisa to the office for the blood sample. Doc lets him know he took advantage of the Lucio situation and got the sample and the two samples have already been sent to Mérida. Doc will let Assman know the results when they are ready. Soon they will know if Elisa is his daughter.

Alfabitch meets Hot Horacio. She gripes about references but Gabino vouches for him. After Alfie and Gabino leave Hot Horacio and Tonia talk. “So you’re Lolita’s friend?” “So your husband is the one that won't leave Lola in peace?” Tonia gets huffy and leaves to show him his new living arrangements.

Gael is back at work on the Castñon habanero fields. Assgusto arrives (with cracked glasses). They blabbity blah about swallowing pride—Gael to come back, and Assman to accept him back. Blah blah habanero production. Problems, hard work yammer yammer. And that’s not just about habeneros. You love Elisa, don’t you? Asks Don Assman. Gael admits he does and in respect to her he won’t be standing around “a brazos cruzados.”

When Padre catches up with Elisa on the street he mentions her bruise. She tells him she bumped into something. I don't think Padre believes her. He walks with her to Blanca’s shop. He is aware that both Dam and Gael have feelings for Elisa and have since they were young. He asks Elisa to please be cautious and not let either boy get hurt. Elisa assures Padre she has made it clear to Gael that her feelings for him are purely platonic and as for Dam, he’s marrying someone else and it’s clear that to him she is just a childhood friend (stable smoochies nonwithstanding.)

Alfie wants Gabino to tell her about the Lucio business. (Before he really gets going he tries to sit down and Alfie shoots him a look and he gets back up…it was quite funny.) Gabino mumbles through his version claiming he was just being sociable and saying hi to Elisa. Lucio hit him for no reason. *lying asp*  Alfie leads the witness and Gabino agrees that yes, what really happened was that Elisa was flirting. That is what Gabino is to tell everyone.

Alfie, Paolo and Flo browbeat Damian into taking Paolo for a tour of the procesadora.

Paloma returns the dress to the shop. The girls kvetch about Gabino and then Tia. Paloma notices the bruise and Elisa explains. Paloma asks what Elisa would do if she had some dirt on Tia; something that would make Assgusto throw the Orange out. Elisa thinks that would cause a huge scandal and though she doesn’t think Daddy loves Tia, he still would not take kindly to being a cukold twice over. Besides, she may be a shrew but Tia does love Daddy. Elisa doesn't think she could do something like get her aunt thrown out since she's sick. *recapper eyerolls*. Paloma leaves (probably to stop herself from spilling the frijoles.)

Doc considers Paloma’s words about the Odious Orange and POP! Goes the Sleazel! ™ in she walks. She asks if he talked to Paloma. Doc tells her there is nothing between them. A decision the Orange made, not he. She asks if he is in love with her and we get to hear all over again how he is BSC in love with her. He knows that she and Assman are trying to save their marriage and Orange goes into manipulation mode. “Woe is me! Assgusto has never forgotten Steffie! How do you save a marriage like that? He loves a ghost and I love another man. I love you! ” Kiss of the spider woman! Any lines said after that is a bit…er…garbled. Oh wait! I catch a “show me” and a “fake the paternity tests”! Doc is ethical quandary impactada.

Avances

  • Paolo is staying for Elisa!
  • Rumors fly!
  • Damian gets pithed!

Yeah, I'm stealing Alphabitch! I've got to. That is A MAZ ING. I wish I would have thought of it.

awesome recap, Sara.
Of course ITA 1000% on
They hug. Fabulous scene. *recapper gets misty eyed*
I also liked Alphabitch!... great nickname!
and I too love watching the beginning credits with the kids running through the habanero fields and the Estefania/Elisa scene. Also Elisa hugging Damian.

and also the armwrestling and Lolita and Braulio giggling.

I am glad i had missed Assusto slapping Elisa, i was too busy watching William Levy dancing a tango, not badly at all.
caught the scene AFTER the slap.

at the wonderful scene with Padre Lupe and Gael, i kept looking at Gael's eyes as he was trying to understand what Padre was trying to tell him. it was as if Gael was not staring at Padre but at a giant popsicle or lollipop... and was drooling... (nah, just kiddin) But I realized that the Gael/Padre bond is nowhere near ready for Gael to just walk away... he is still very dependent on the support of Padre Lupe because he is pretty much his only supporter.

Gabino is pure scum... good thing Doc Whipped walked out just in time to provide Elisa some backup.

Bezoña and Alphabitch are definitely a dynamic duo when it comes to destroying Elisa.

Paloma looked as pretty as ever with the braid down one side and the off the shoulder blouse. LB is really naturally VERY pretty.

a poll question:
who would you put in a wrestlemania cage match with Orangina?
I would put Lola... if there is ANYONE with almost as much reason as Elisa to get back at Orangina, that is Lola... lets see...
1. she has made her 'niña' Elisa miserable for many years
2. she was very directly responsible of killing Estefania
3. she is indirectly responsible for Lola to have had to give up her future with Braulio... if Elisa had not been left alone by dumb-ass-gusto after Estefania died and Orangina made him think Estefania betrayed him, Lola woul dhave had no reason to give up her engagement to Braulio.

Dammit! Blogger ate my brilliant comment. Now I'm too tired and cranky to repeat it all.

Sara, thank you for your brilliant recap. I think you are a big softie for loving the theme song and Stef & little Elisa. Also a softie for loving Padre and Gael. I thing those two are the favorites of all of us.

I wish Elisa would have whacked her stupid father back. Scaredy cat bullies like him usually stop their crap after they get a smack upside the head.

More tomorrow, but thanks again for such a terrific and speedy recap.

Would the originator of Alfabitch please speak up? Someone last week mentioned it in the comments and I can't remember who it was. I need to go back in and trademark that.

This was all kind's of wonderful Sara! I thought, despite a few cool moments, this was a rather so-so episode. But boy, you sure made it so much more memorable.
"
Paolo clearly enunciates his disgust with the coffee. "
"What you are about to hear is a montón of mierda ."
"Paloma leaves (probably to stop herself from spilling the frijoles.)"

And "*recapper gets misty eyed". You and me both. One of my few good moments last night. What would I do without these two each night???
As for Pathetic Paloma....ooops, wrong show, I meant Irritating Ingrid, how do you get a "child back" who is clearly over 21. Maybe it's the actress, but I get the "I don't trust her" vibe.

Assets is clearly earning that ever-growing anvil in this thing. Maybe she hasn't offed anyone, but she's all kinds of evil. That smile hearing father and daughter fighting was just sick...but then she is, in the head, so I guess it fit. Blech!
I was getting a "Horacio will be doing something evil" vibe last night. Dang....

And the amulet lives for another day. You just know Elisa is going to see that soon...heart breaks, etc. Dam had the right idea taking it from cutie-pie, but he never seems to be able to just close the door on insisting she see his point of view. Must be a mother thing...he can't refuse mumsy, can't refuse Flo.
However, he can pick a fight, which it looks like he will do with Enrique. Oh yeah...Wait let me hold him while you punch his daylights out...oops. Sorry, but that "man" annoys the blazes out of me.
Off to work. Check in later!

Marta: I think Assusto is brilliant! Look for it to be stolen in the future (and for me to forget who started it.) He is weak, he is vile, he is easily manipulated. That makes his scary.

Daisynjay: I'm not going to lie: I kind of prefer the "meh" episodes. I feel a lot of pressure recapping "the big stuff." I will leave that to the pros. Marta, Blue Lass, Elna June, Sylvia and Cynderella are recappers of the first order. I fear I am a hack. LOL.

I also got a bad vibe from Irritating Ingrid (another name getting filed away for future use.)

Excellent work. Alfabitch is exactly the right nick!

I want to pray for the assistance of Saint Lorena [Bobbit] for Elisa to do what's necessary the next time she encounters Gabino. Watching him grab her made me sick.

Didn't the doctor learn in medical school that too much orange juice will actually make you sick?

So, whose DNA is going to end up in the fake test?

I was so relieved when the Doc told Assusto the samples had already been sent to Mérida...then my hopes were dashed in the last scene. Damn that Orange Skank!

Thanks, Sara! I love it when you insert the recapper reactions into the text. Makes me feel like I'm right there with ya.

Such good acting in this TN, even the little things. Did you catch Flo mouthing no-no-no at Alfie when Damián wanted to take her out to ride the horsey? Too funny.

I hope Eliza really meant it when she said, "You will NOT hit me again." Because otherwise it's just a battered-woman situation, isn't it? And I want her out of that.

Sara-

This was such a wonderful recap. I liked this episode. Lots of scenes that I enjoyed. Padre telling Ingid off; Padre and Gael (I got misty too and Gael was trying so hard to understand what Padre meant); Paloma telling the Doc what she thinks of Carmina; Alfi giving Gabino that *look* when he tried to sit down; Horacio putting snotty Tonia in her place when she starting insinuating about Lolita; and Flo's face/expressions when Alfi suggested Dam take her horse riding.

Dam looks like he wants to be anywhere else except with Flo, Paolo and his mama. If the three of them just disappeared, I'm sure he'd be walking around with a big smile on his face. Instead, each day he looks like he's being made to walk the plank.

I too hope that Elisa's warning to Ughie that this will be the LAST time he hits her sticks. Blue Lass, I also thought of battered woman syndrome when Elisa told the Padre she ran into something.

I still don't know what the Doc will do. He can't tamper with the tests now since the samples are in Merida already. So he would have to change the written results. Would he have to retype them (or have Paloma type it)? Or does he have a spare written report that says two samples sent to the Merida lab are not a match? Paloma's warnings are still ringing in his ear and so he should be asking Carmie why she would want to do such a hateful thing. There is no good reason that I can think of, but Carmie is creative.

Flo's facial expressions were hilarious.

yes, Altair Jarabo is mastering those 'villainess' disgust faces...
and Damian... poor thing, he is walking around like a constipated zombie, isn't he?

Good thing Gael told Assusto like it is... i swallowed a lot of pride coming back, now you swallow pride admitting you need me and letting me help you and Elisa out.

wow great recap, I had to change the channel after the slap, am glad Elisa let him know not to touch her again.

I wonder which way the Doc is going to swing, this has me on edge. I hope he makes the right decision and I'm glad I have no clue as to what it will be. Great acting by the Doc.

Stuff we learned in this episode:

Ingrid doesn't want anyone to know she used to live in La Ermita. I'm guessing she left La Ermita in shame after Alfonsina spread gossip about her.

Observations:

Disgusto is using physical abuse against Elisa more and more. I think if Estefania had lived, he would have been abusing her too.

Ingrid must think Gael is 2 years old and not a grown man, for her to think she can just pop back into his life and he'll accept Mommy with open arms.

Padre needs to tell Gael ASAP before he is blindsided by Ingrid.

LOVED Horacio telling Tona "Your husband is the one who won't leave Lolita alone, right?"

I thought Paloma insinuated to Elisa that Carmeany wasn't as sick as she portrays...or even sick at all.

Elisa COULD have covered up her bruise by wearing her hair down. I think she wanted people to see that bruise. That's just my opinion.

Disgusto probably wants to pawn Elisa off on Gael to get rid of her.

And if Elisa turns out NOT to be Disgusto's daughter, what will he do? Throw her out? But couldn't Elisa throw HIM out, since SHE is Estefania's heir?

Vivi, I think all the Doc will have to do is creatively misinterpret the results of the blood test -- probably no one can read them but him anyway.

Anon207, you are correct -- Paloma did say to Eliza that she doesn't think Carmina is as sick as she pretends.

"constipated zombie", snort! Marta, you are too funny.

"I fear I am a hack."

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! You rock!

My Dear Sara
This is a really wonderful recap. As to you being a hack--pshaw is what I say. You are a valued member of our team and I love your personal take on the action. As Blue Lass said earlier, your asides make me feel like I am sitting with you in a cosy living room, giggling while you give the characters really sound advice, which they seldom take.

As to last night's action, I am so mad at Augusto that I could spit nails. Again, I agree with Blue Lass that Elise is living in domestic abuse. This always pushes my buttons but Augusto treats Elisa with the depressed casual cruelty of a true sadist.

The actor is doing a fine job with a dispicable role.

Thanks again Sara. It is a pleasure doing business with you. Big grin and hug.

ElnaJune

Sara thanks for your great recap. I was seething there with you through it all, especially the Toad smacking his daughter.

Blue Lass/Vivi - I too hope doesn't allow herself to become an abused woman.

The only hope I have for Gael's mom is that she somehow knows that Rosendo was sleeping with Carmeany and not Steph.

Marta - ITA that Lola (is that a nick name for Delores?) would beat down Carmeany as a mother lioness would tear up any threats to her cubs. I wonder what Carmeany's horrible end will be.

Glad that Doc is actually considering what Paloma said about Witch C (as opposed to Witch A). And though he may stumble initially on the test results, he will probably find Witch C with someone else in bed and sing like a canary.

Sara,
hack?
"I fear I am a hack."

ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!!!! You rock!

yeah, what daisynjay said! no hack in sight here!

Karen,

doesn't Carmeany/Orangina have a considerable resemblance to the wicked witch of the west from Wizard of Oz? except for the height and boobies... she could play that role anyday! only need to douse avocado all over her face.

Sara, if you are a hack then that is what I aspire to be. I was thrilled when you wanted to join the team. You make us all look good.

Karen, I can see that Carmeany might really mess with the doc's head. If she dumps his a$$ he might decide he wants to stay married, in which case he might not want to sing. Oh wait, stay married to Bore-gonia? Maybe not.

EJ, I read your comment as "sitting with you in a CRAZY living room, giggling..." and had visions of all of us wrapped in straitjackets, slurping drinks out of martini glasses. (Well, it *could* happen.)

Sara..first of all, every recapper, and former recapper, has deep-down "I fear I'm a hack" issues. We always see others' virtues and not our own.

I LOVE your wonderfully personal, and hilariously irreverent take on things. It also comforts me that you get as upset as I do at the villains' wretched behavior (which leads to us retching). Sometimes I even think I should give up these addicting tales because I DO get so involved and upset. But I keep coming back.

And yes, typical telenovela take on Blanca's don't die, don't leave me, can't live without you shrieks. It was a relief when Lucio came to and asked who died. Loved your "that old scamp!"

Other favorites was Dr. Toofar, and his "naranja o' lava luvin'." Simply wonderful.

In fact the only thing better than reading this would be to actually sit down and watch it with you. We could scream, yell, raid the fridge for ice cream (possibly crack open some booze although I would instantly fall asleep if we did) and stomp our feet.

So much evil last night. It wasn't a meh episode for me, it was deeply disturbing with so many people scheming against Elisa's happiness. Could we just fast forward to the Happy Ending?

Hmmmm...thought not. Too bad.

My proposed Karmageddon for Tropicana comes down to the following choices:

-- Implants exploding during an accident that also disfigures her face.
-- Immolation, like they used to do to witches
-- Manicomio

Of course, none of these exclude the others.

Ha ha! Implants imploding in a blazing manicomio! Bingo for everyone!

UA:

Your proposed ending for Carmina is telenovela justice worth waiting for.

Imagine this...The PSA before the conflagration..."This is what happen to your implants under pressure..."
Blammo!

I found imagining that to be richly satisfying. I know, I need to get out more...

ElnaJune

Sara: Great recap.

Sara, I think we all feel pretty cowed by the talent pool. (How's that for a mixed metaphor?)

I myself feel terribly inadequate because -- I've never admitted this to anyone, but I feel this is a safe space -- I've NEVER SEEN THE PEAR ROBE. [sob!]

Sara, this was so much fun to read and enjoy. You are always so fresh and entertaining. I adore your spontaneity and innocent candor... a hack?

Nopis!

I thought that the good padre was unnecessarily harsh with Ingrid. Since he didn't seem to even recognize her, does he really know anything about her?

I think that he was feeling threatened as much or more than he was being protective. I thought that he was being a bit unpriestly.

My heart goes out to poor old Dr. Tovar... he so wants to do the right thing. I swear, I could almost smell her perfume and feel the steam wafting off that iridescent skin. Heck... I'm starting to sweat just contemplating his dilemma. Too bad there's not another Dr. in that town to refer her to.

Wow, Horacio really zinged Braulio. Life will not be pleasant for him tonight. Talk about a sucker punch.

Carlos

Sara - thank you for your snarky funny recap! I love all your *recapper asides* and was seething and retching right along with you. I love "Alfabitch"! That must be TM'd (trademarked).

Every time Carmina opened her mouth last night, I wanted to scream at my TV ---"Liar, Liar, Pants on fire!"
Gah.

I winced big time when Dam tossed the amulet into the trash can. Apparently he does not know how this telenovela is supposed to end. He needs to attend Galán Training 102.

Blue Lass - … the Pear Robe … I know I've seen it in the last couple of years. …. which telenovela was that? Now I'll go nuts trying to remember…..

marta i --- my money is on Lolita in the cage against Naran'Ho.

Elisa is definitely a domestic violence victim. Making light of the bruise is typical behavior and how the batterer gets away with continuing. Too bad she has no money or skills to move out of the house and live on her own.

It's OK, La Blue, the robe will reveal itself to you when you are ready to receive it's noble message. I confess, until Vivi did the Pear Robe Project I had never noticed the distinctive garment.

Sylvia and I confessed that we had each gone on-line, looking for our own versions of the pear robe. Alas, we were neither of us able to score one on E-Bay. I haven't seen it for several telenovelas now--perhaps it has been, gasp, retired?

EJ

I think the last sighting of the Pear Robe was in Ni Contigo Ni Sin Ti. It was being carried as a prop, not actually worn, and it popped up just as we were all discussing it. Maybe it's like Betelgeuse...Pear Robe, Pear Robe, Pear Robe!

Carlos, alma de mi alma...I too thought the Padre was being way too harsh. Where the Forgiveness dude? He could have said all those things..."it's been too long, he's grown etc." in a kindly compassionate way...and then she might have been able to accept it. As it is, she'll be in pure defensive mode now. Oh well. PLOT DEVICE here we go.

Carlos and Judy,
as much as I LOVE Padre Lupe, I too agree that he was: HARSH, ACCUSATIVE, almost downright insulting to Ingrid. Yes, Gael is a grown man now and she should not have the notio that she can just show up now and all is good in Bedford Falls (oops, La Ermita).
But he was very, unpriestly, like Carlos says... it surprised even myself... he was sweet and sensitive with Elisa but downright rude and judgemental to Ingrid. And yes, part of it is his own fear of having her just take Gael away... but like he told her, the decision/judging/reaction should be up to Gael.

Ni Contigo Ni Sin Ti just ended its run here, where the Pear Robe was a regular. There is still hope that it is in a tn that followed NCNST that has not yet been shown in the U.S. Maybe it will even show up in Abismo. Fear not! For those who missed the Pear Robe post, here it is, with pics for those who have not see the miraculous robe itself: http://caraycaray.blogspot.com/2011/12/pear-robe-project.html

Oh my. Please forgive me all for sounding like a whiny *gasp* high maintenance recapper. Believe me, that was not my intent. I merely meant that I am awed by the reacapping company I keep (both here and my stint on LQNPA.)

Everyone has brought up so many things that went through my mind as I watched (though it didn't make it to the recap.) Most especially:

being in an abusive relationship.

I truly hope Elisa meant it when she said Assusto will not hit her again. Was there this much physical abuse in Cañaveral? Has that already been discussed and I missed it?

UA I love your idea for the Orange Karmageddon. Very appropriate.

Now, who came up with Dr. Toofar...'cause I stole that. I need to start keeping better track of who I"m stealing from (which is horrid grammar.)

PS: Blue Lass, I have never seen the Pear Robe, either. *sob part deux*

Oh well, Sara, at least I've spent lots of quality time with those cute little rats. ;}

Um Cynderella makes stuff up AND can't write worth a darn! Why do you think I'm stealing Alphabitch!

Cynderella

Sara wonderful recap.

I do enjoy seeing some scenes in the credits too, they remind me of what happened in the past.

Although my favorite is Padre Lupe infront of the funeral march. That was the first episode I saw of this novela, my uncle had just died and that day my family and I had been at the burial a few hours earlier and we arrived to Veracruz after a long drive on the highway from my mom's hometown. We were hungry since we hadn't eaten anything and we stopped by a small italian food restaurant and they had a tv with the novela on during that episode.

As for Cañaveral, he did it there too. Julia/Elisa loves her dad profoundly, so she was more upset about him believing the worse of her once again than about the slap, although she does tell him too to never do that to her again. Augusto's slaps seem more vicious to me though, he does actually appear to want them to sting (Julia didn't fall from the force of his slap at the party in Cañaveral) while Fausto's were more in a manner of scolding, not meant to hurt but to upset, sort of what parents do to missbehaved children.

Jarocha

Didn't the Pear Robe make an appearance in Sortilegio?

Yeah, he is really rearing back and slapping the stew out of her!

Thanks so much for the recap, Sara. Yes, I was seething and eye-rolling right along with you. Grrr.

Man, I go out of town for a while and come back to... the S.O.S.

TangeloHo is still orange, Augie is still Lame, Gabino is even more Greasy, Doc Tovar is still Weak, Alfie is still paying installments on that mansion in Hell, Elisa is still a literal punching bag (grrrrr!), Gael and Paloma are still lovesick, Flo is still wearing gauze and Ace bandages, Damian is still looking for his missing b@##s and Padre is simply bewildered by the whole dang town. *sigh*

Gael's mama is back?? What the heck does that heifer want? Your child ain't a child anymore, hon. You're kinda late.

Gosh, if Creamsicle Ho is going to have to put a revolving door on her bedroom. She is giving it out of both pants legs, isn't she? Obviously an Orange Ho is the way to go. I Hate this switch the blood scheme, but we had to see it coming. Gah.

Poor Flo. I'll bet you dollars to donuts that Dam hasn't kissed her once the way he kissed Elisa at the stable. That stuff sure did get good to him, the way he was trying to inhale Elisa! Pobrecita Flo! hehehehe

I'm thinking Elisa should take a squared table leg to the next doomas who dares hit her. You notice Alfie hasn't tried that crap again since she drew back a nub and got her lip busted that time.

What is Doctor Estupido going to do tonight? Oh, I couldn't hazard a guess. *lying*

Again, Sara, thanks for the witty stuff! :)

On to the next episode...

Doris- No, the robe did not appear in Sortilegio.Little Maria Jose wasn't saucy enough to wear such a statement piece.

Maybe I shouldn't have called Gael's mom a heifer. I don't know her back story yet, after all.

*sigh*

Consider her un-heifered for now...

I was robbed! I want 27 and 28! It better be just as good on Friday!

I was in class! Where is everybody? OMGosh! I just watched the tape! Whoever is up tonight! I am jealous of you and would like to punch you. Darn my education! LOL

Cynderella

Cynderella, you are way too funny and hyped up after class. Ya think Dam's gonna stay in town? (Oh hell yes.)

You're right, tonight is a great episode. I think Blue Lass is up to recap and I'm sure she will be in fine form.

Sara, just read this. Let me just add to the accolades. You were at your fiery best, starting with the title through to the last word. Gracias.

Diana

so long lost Irene makes her appearance to Gael's life through the old 'AAY!! I've fallen and i can't get up!' trick.
loved the face Padre Lupe put up when he came home and saw here there with Gael.

Damian should think with his head instead of with his ass... imposing Don Lucio there without being able to fire Gabino.
that can only mean lots of trouble for Lucio and Blanca...

Order up! I'm not quite done proofing, but I can see everyone's dying to comment...
