El Talismán #44 Mon 4/2/12 The Check has been Checked (and Mated) OR Everything is Camila's Fault
Our faithful Editor in Chief Anita will post a bullet-ridden recap later tonight. We hear things are heating up in Fresno. It's about time!

The Bank—Here sit
the pair of dumbbells (and not the 5 lb. variety)

The bank official informs Renato and Rita that
the check is NO Good; it’s too old, stale, expired, cannot be cashed or
deposited. An unbelieving Renato tries
to bribe the branch manager with lunch and talking a solas. The bank mgr. says he’d be happy to go to
lunch, but it doesn’t change the status of the check and he has to keep the
check in order for it to be disposed of properly. Harrumphing loudly on his way out, Renato
says he’s going to take his business elsewhere.

Back home, having no other business pendiente,
Renato and Rita can’t believe what just happened. They are ruined. They have not two centavos to rub together. He’s p*ssed because he doesn’t have the check
in hand to try some other sleight-of-hand.
He’s p*ssed because he never noticed the date [ed. note-how dumb can you
be]. Rita is p*ssed at him for not
noticing and she didn’t know checks could expire [ed. note-and where have you
been, little Rita—getting paid in efectivo all these years?]. The only thing he can think of is to ask
Elvira to ask the check issuer to write a new check [ed. note-yeah, right].
The Pool—Here
sits a dumbbell (and not the 10 lb. variety), followed by another and another

Lucrecia is sliming all over Pedro (dumbbell
#1), sitting there glassy-eyed and dazed.
She assures him that she will ensure he forgets Camila (and insuring her
future at El Tal). The bait she dangles,
besides herself, is money she will invest in the orphanage. There’s nothing in the world she wants more
than to help homeless children—and be close to you, Mi Amor. She makes him go through the swearing-in
ceremony with the garlands, although he thinks it’s all very stupid [ed.
note-and so do we].

Camila (dumbbell #2), having recovered from the
b*tch slap from mommy dearest, insists on having it out with Renato. Elvira (dumbbell #3) can’t stop her with her
illogical reasoning and collapses into tears of sadness and rage, and rants to
poor Geno, who’s left to listen that Camila has ruined her future, her whole
life, her marriage and now the only thing left is Renato asking for a divorce
[ed. note-how she made that leap from having her name taken off the bank
account to divorce is not clear]. She
leaves saying that from now on, she only has ONE hijo.

Camila stomps off to collect her stuff and runs
into Aunt Pat, who tries to tell her she’s a dumb-belle for running off. No use, Camila keeps packing and off she
rolls. On the way out she views the
one-sided canoodling that Lulu is forcing on a zoned-out Pedro. Tracy joins her to watch and they discuss the
way things turned out, with Pedro not listening to her explanations on why she
was meeting with Antonio in the coffee shop
[ed. note—I love the old-fashioned garden swing in the background. I want one of those]. They turn away and head for the car, which is
conveniently tethered to a big electric plug.

She begs Tracy for the low down on Renato. This time Tracy complies. Yep, Ren is a first class farsante
(pretender, deceiver).
The Bedrooms—Here,
scattered around several rooms, are various dumbbells.

Armando & Fab weren’t done Friday [ed.
note-I had certainly hoped so]. They
almost do the deed, but Fab has a wake-up call and skedaddles—assuring Arm that
she really cares for him.

Fab, Flo & Spare Girl squeal and carry on
like teenagers. Did she or didn’t
she…well they want all the the details >>FF
*
Doris & Goldfinger Gal have a same old, same
old conversation. Doris needs to control
Don G. She knows she has what it takes
to control him in the bedroom, but outside the bedroom is no sure thing and she
needs him in order to inflict revenge on Antonio for everything he did to her
all these years. Goldfinger Gal tells
Doris that Lucas is outside. Doris
thinks it’s the same tipo that was hanging around the hacienda; he can probably
be quite useful. GG warns her that he
can be dangerous.

Doris thinks Antonio will be very disillusioned
when he finally beds Camila [ed. note-we think so, too]. She doesn’t think Antonio has “done it” with
Cam, despite what he says, but thinks Cam-“the hypocrite”-ila has bedded Pedro
lots of times. As an aside, Doris
thinks her girls are sweet and still very innocent and will stay on her side in
the lucha against Antonio.

Don Gregorio & Brigitte, in the house of
many bedrooms are also discussing Lucas.
First Don G wants Brig to help him get Doris to hurry up with the
divorce. He was brought up “por lo
antiguo” in the old-fashioned morals and is ashamed of his relationship with
Doris, while she is his DIL, but he can’t give her up. Meanwhile, their relationship has to be
strictly a secret until her divorce is final.
Brigitte warns Greg to be careful around Lucas, or the Don might end up
as fish food in the river, his favorite disposal site [ed. note—is there a
Fresno River running through it?].

Armando & Elvira are in the recently
converted back to chaste, motel room.
She’s still weeping, raging and ranting against Camila’s ruining her
life, etc., etc. Army tries to calm her
down, that Camila is not like that and he will go talk to Camila and
Renato. She will not be consoled. Armenso would like mommy to listen to his
problems, but she can’t, she just can’t when her life is in ruins—and leaves to
see Renato and hope he’s no longer so angry.
The Office—Here
sits one very dumbbell (this one is a lanky, hunky 165 lb. version)
* Antonio is still hunched over the computer in
the conference room, trying to figure out Daddy’s business, while Employee Guy
looks over his shoulder. He wants to
know where Daddy is—EG doesn’t know; then where is Doris—EG doesn’t know, she
only comes in once in a while with Don G.
Poor Antonio is saved by the bell—a phone call from sweet sis. She’s just found out from Pedro that there is
a fresh pista regarding Mariana. She
wants to know if that Mariana-imitator Jenny went and blabbed to the police.
The Pool—Sorry,
we had to go back here.
* Pedro gets a phone call. It’s the police. Apparently they were contacted by bank
officials that someone tried to cash a check of Mariana’s. Pedro will be right in. He has a hard time making Lucrecia stay
put—this is his asunto, not hers.
El Tal Parking Area—A dumbbell
collection area
* Camila untethers the car in order to ride off
into the sunset. Who should she run
into, but Pedro, running out. She tells him she’s resigning her post and
leaving El Tal for evva. Pedro says,
then be gone, wench, hace lo que te da la gana, for which he earns a b*tch
slap.

Okay, now I can hardly wait to get home and see what warrants the EEEEEEUUUUUUWWWWWWW. More than usual, I mean. Was that about more than Friday's questionable camera placement?

I've had the Kool-Aid also. We have been gone but I think I'm pretty much caught up. Still depend on the recaps since I can't read the CCs, watch expressions and figure out what is really going on all at once.
Mike and I met with JudyB, love her to pieces. We had a wonderful time at lunch with her. It is so neat that so many of us are getting together.

Thanks Anita, great job and finally things seem to be moving along a bit. Not drinking KoolAid, but wouldn't you know it... the Lovely Linda objects to me sloshing beer around the house like Antonio does. She's just not getting into the spirit of things.
I'm so looking forward to the cops confronting Renato about Mariana's disappearance. Love his plan, though... take his business elsewhere and have Elvira get a fresh check... ummm... OK...

Thank you so much Anita. Loved that bank scene especially when the head bank guy told them the check was no good, it was too old etc. I thought ole Rennie would blow a gasket. lol. He and Rita went home with their tales between their legs. lol.

Anita-watched today's epi (Tuesday) this is moving right along. I won't give too much away but Army grows a brain, same with Pedro (for some things)Tony steps in for a minute, and Rennie is in big trouble, and the investigator investigates and everything is still Cameela's fault. Doris is biting off more than she can chew. For the advances Wed El Viral is actually grinning.

Rosemary Primera- I think this must be the advent of the new writers. The plots and plans of the characters (except for Tony and Loocrazy) are making sense. El Viral is still estupida as she ever was, so I see the three of them as comic relief. I like how Pedro is starting to put stuff together, and the investigator is investigating finally! Pedro and Cameela are still as dumb about each other as ever, they must be smoking the same stuff lol.
I just posted a header for today's episode so feel free to discuss it to your heart's content over there. We who have not yet watched won't peek until we see the show. 1.5 hours for me.

When I saw him in today's show, I decided he has progressed way beyond marijuana and has become an opium eater. They could have put a giant hookah in that shot with the flowers, etc. and it would not have looked out of place.

Madelaine, at one time Fresno was the "meth" captial of the US. May there is something in the water or the air.
