Una Familia Con Suerte #192 Tue 4/3/12 FINALLY Pina gets wise!

Pancho is shopping for a suit, with Rebe, just being boring and stuff. There's a weird musical interlude where Pancho imagines himself conducting Beethoven's 5th.

Ana plays a gig for some rich kids... at least she dispensed with those awful "sexy Ana" outfits, and is wearing what looks like the smoking jacket Pancho just rejected.

Now a boring scene with Fers and Doc Oc talking about their relationship in front of a green-screened woodsy background. She wants him to lighten up a bit and enjoy the fake park.

Ugh, more wedding stuff, there's a nice toast with Chela, Enzo, Rebe and Pancho. They review the invitations. They make another toast, this one to forgiveness.

Ana does another show for the rich guy (maybe what I saw last was the dress rehearsal).

Vins tries his luck with Celeste, but as they sit down at their table, Candy walks in with... Arnold! Vins calls out "CandI" like he normally does, but it's clear he's not weaseling his way out of this one. But I look forwards to watching him try.

Pepe tries to console Frida over the theft of the "Panther," but very swiftly finds himself smooching her. Things always move so fast in this show, like when Tomas went from prisoner to cop in about a month.

Vins pulls Arnold aside to yell at him, and give the girls a chance to exchange harsh words. The boys agree to not tell Pina. Vins emotes about how hard it is to be him, with such a need for new sensations, etc. They rejoin with the girls, and Vins tries to snag a kiss as he leaves. Candi socks him one on the nose.

Kari is really cute trying to make fred and pina meditate. Pina: oms, oms, oms. It's a total riot. Ado gets in on the fun, but swiftly falls asleep as Cari whispers in Fred's ear that she still loves him.

Another boring mushy scene with Pancho and Rebe, but for this one they're in their clothes in a sleeping bag by a fire (I guess it's a firepit, but it looks an awful lot like a garbage-can fire), with warehouse-looking stuff in the background.

Ana is eating dinner with the rich dude, prying about his dead wife. Apparently she died of breast cancer because she didn't do proper self-examinations. Ana makes some eyes at him.

Vins gets caught sneaking into his house at night. Pina realizes that he was with someone new ("cheap perfume but not Candi's? You've got a new one")

Rebe's mom calls up and bugs her. That's all.

Chela comes to visit and Frida welcomes her in. There'll be shit to pay. She lets Pepe have it. He's already under fire when Enzo walks in and Frida steps out of the shower wearing some of Pepe's plaid, asking if he wants her to wash his.... Uh-Oh. Enzo: "do all of your amigas bathe here?" Enzo REALLY lets him have it, using some of that slick-lawyer-menace that was put to such ill use earlier in the series.

Ana is expecting flowers from her Pollis, and finds a huge mountain of them. Unfortunately for Fred, they're from Adrian (her rich patron).

Why do you think we got such dramatic music for Tomas/Lupita giving breakfast for a poor girl? [added later] It's pretty clear that she's been abused, judging by the way she shies away from Pepe and talks about her dad. That's grim.

Pina walks in on Celeste wiggling in Vins' lap. I'm reminded of that line from Iron Man... "let's face it, this isn't even remotely the most embarrassing thing you've caught me doing." Anyway, poor Pina.

Adrian calls while Ana's on the phone with Fred, and I think it finally dawns on her that his attentions are somewhat less than appropriate. It's extra creepy when he wishes her "sweet dreams." Freddy does notice that something is amiss, and complains to Kari.

Candi wants to open a shop with the chorro of cash she got from Napoleon. Also, Arnold has been throwing dogs at her (one of my favorite recurring slangisms from this show).

Now Pancho opens fire on Pepe, who brings up Pancho's two-girl situation with Rebe and Chela, but Pancho actually makes a lot of sense in his argument: you have to tell Monica the truth - what if the tables were turned and Moni had some secret Frenchman, wouldn't you deserve to know?

YAY! Pina changed the locks! "If you're looking for your things, look in the garden..." Hilariously, Vins looks to the sky and asks "why, why?" when it's so obvious why. He grovels fruitlessly, and she goes upstairs to fling his fragile belongings into the yard one by one. My favorite moment in this show ever thus far.

Adrian shows up ahead of Ana's next gig, and she lets him know that shee has a boyfriend. He leaves, politely.

Pepe struggles in his attempts to write Moni an email. Frida calls up and thanks him for saving her from jumping off a bridge (I guess it runs in the family) after losing her car.

Thanks Ezra and Melinama for the tag team recaps.

So glad that Pina has kicked Vince out and can start back on the path to being a better person.

I guess since our two main older couples are in blissful Lala Land, our younger couples are shaking things up. Ana has a new boyfriend (or should I say manfriend since the guy is at least 10 years older with kids) option. And Freddy is starting to look at Kari as more than a nutcase. She is starting to sound more like her old self, although still stuck on Fred.

Pepe disappointed me with that kiss. He so knew what he was doing in that moment. It didn't take him by surprise like that first kiss. In fact, we could see him watch it happen (his eyes were open at first), and then saw the moment when he decided to go for it with gusto. Not sure how you explain that to your girlfriend in an e-mail. Good lick with that one Pepe! I was also struck by how all of his reasons for justifying himself had to do with him being mad at Moni for going away and staying away so long. Pancho picked up on that resentment. I'm still not convinced that he's really falling for Frida. It just seems more like he's lonely, mad at Moni, and taking the easy way out (Frida). Loved how both Chela and Enzzo were totally imtimidating while keeping their cool after the Frida discovery.

Rebe's parents look like they'll be interesting characters. And they will arrive just in time for the Holloween party. Good times!

I am not miffed that they have added another random storyline with the (obviously abused) little girl. I loved that little actress in Soy Tu Duena and haven't seen her in anything since. She was adorable in STUD as Teresita. Such a cute little thing. She's grown quite a bit since that tn, but is still tiny.

Thank you Ezra for the second part of the recap. I loved your snark. I agree with you Vivi about Pina, yay, finally. Loved how Pina threw that telescope at Vins and all of his stuff in the garden. Why would he ask why? Maybe Julie was right and he needs a coconut to the head. He is incredibly dense.

ITA with you Vivi about Pepe. I think he is lonely and mad at Moni. It is weird when she calls him and she is not her animated self, there is something really wrong there. It is as if she is reading a prepared statment. Moni hasn't called Enzzo either lately. She did at first.

Loved the get together of Enzzo/Chela/Pancho/Rebe. That was really nice and they are finally becoming friends, especially Chela and Rebe.

Noticed Freddy and Kari were drinkinig wine and Freddy wasn't drinking milk. And I agree he is looking like he is starting to like Kari.

Adrian seems nice, but way too old for Ana. Didn't he say he was 35?
I wonder what is going to happen there.

Pepe is having a hard time telling Moni about Frida. I think Moni is going to be really upset.

I felt so bad for that little girl. I am glad she came to Lupe. She is very cute and so small.

Poor Pina she is so better off without Vins, but now she is greiving over him again, and like she said she forgave him and then he went and did it again. I'm glad that Pina talked to Pancho again, and that she has Ado and Freddy right there with her. The advances for the Halloween Party look really fun.

I really liked the scenes with Doc Oc and Dona Fer. I am so glad they are spending alot of alone time. Doc Oc is slowly coming around and starting to enjoy this time with Dona Fer. He isn't so depressed anymore.

Oh Vivi I didn't know what Pancho had were knitting needles lol. I thought he had broken the baton adn was using the halves to conduct lol.

Thanks for your recap Ezra. I really loved your likening Vice to Tony Stark "let's face it, this isn't even remotely the most embarrassing thing you've caught me doing." So appropriate yet so sad for Pina.

Madelaine - ITA w/you about the scenes with Fer and Dr. Oc.

And all of us agree on what an idiot Pepe is being. I guess its supposed to be his passive anger but he's really going to hurt Moni. And I hope we find out what's up with Robot Moni.

So, Adrian the shoe-man is a widower. Hmmmm. I bet we could find a nice wife for him. Maybe after Ana's tour he tries to track her down at the house and meets Candy or some other unattached female (Goya, Chucha, Ado...).

I will agree that Pepe is being an idiot, but he's been away from Monica for, what, a couple of weeks? A month? That's like ten years as horny young men reckon time. (Plus, as Vivi pointed out, he's feeling understandably resentful.)

As for Vice. I know a coconut to the head won't be enough to change him. (Indeed, he hit his head last week and it didn't make a damn bit of difference.) But I think it would still be fun for the rest of us. I would enjoy a Vins-with-amnesia storyline.

Ezra, gracias for a fun recap. Love the Tony Stark quote.

I too liked how Chela and Enzo were cool with their anger over Frida spending the night. Not liking Pepe right now. Email? Hombre, get on an airplane and tell Moni what’s up with you. I feel like he wants to give Frida an opportunity to pounce and “overcome” him so he’ll feel less guilty afterward.

Love the scene with Pina locking Vince out. I just wish that telescope had clunked him on the head.

I guess Pina and Candy will fight over Arnold, but I’d like to see them become friends again. They were so funny as amigas.

Thank you, Ezra! I love the way your laughing at the antics comes out in your writing. It's so vivid.

The meditation scene was too funny. Meditation itself only seemed to work for Freddy. Who would have thought it, back when we first met him?

Ana's new potential manfriend cracks me up because those two were married in Cuidado Con el Ángel...until he bizarrely turned from sweet and devoted artist to a skeezebag cheater FOR NO GOOD REASON. Did the writing on that show ever go to hell when they extended it and the original writers quit. Anyhoo, if Ana is thinking of throwing Freddy over for new guy, she'd better find out how he feels about Italian artists' models first.

I hope Adrian sticks around but gets together with someone else. Kari, maybe? Or Candy? New guy for Pina? Though he doesn't seem the type to appreciate Pina's nutsiness.

Pepe, Pepe, Pepe. I hope the boiler is on the fritz again and that shower was as cold as Enzo's fury. His behavior is COMPLETELY dishonorable. His involvement with Frida may have started innocently but he certainly isn't innocent anymore. He's trying hard to find a way to let it happen yet not be his fault. Deal with Moni first, dude.

Poor tiny abused girl. I couldn't believe she was wandering the street alone to find herself a daycare. Then I realized she's probably the same age as my little nieces and her situation made me tear up for real. Little children suffering is the worst.
