La Que No Podía Amar #72 Thursday 4/5/12 The Woman Who Couldn't Escape Her Guilty Conscience

Dany sees the black ribbon hanging over the door to the fonda and goes inside, only to get yelled at by  Ulises.  She reminds him of Miguel.  Macaria tells him to back off, but Ulises has gone 'round the bend.   Dany feels his pain.

Gustavo tells AP about Cinthia's proposal.  She's pissed, but tells him he has to make his own decision.   This just upsets Gustavo more.  He mocks her for having "doubts" and accuses her of wanting him to  hook up with Cinthia so she can be with Rogelio.  He wants to know what she feels, like, now.

Macaria says Ulises was too mean to Dany, whether Miguel did it or not.  Ulises is too busy having a  breakdown to give a crap.

AP tells Gus she has no idea what she feels.  She doesn't want to hurt Rogelio or Gustavo.  She reminds  him that he agreed to give her time so she doesn't make the wrong decision.  Gus rubs her face in it that  Cinthia doesn't have doubts about her feelings for him.  AP ends up saying that he can do whatever the  hell he wants, she's tired of it all!  They hug and Mercedes sees them and behaves predictably.  Oh,  right, I'm supposed to be recapping…can't help tuning out Mercedes and her incessant screeching.  I'm  sure I didn't miss anything important.

Efrain's making himself at home in the kitchen.  Maria tells him to sit down and get a proper talking-to.   She tells him to watch out because she knows he's got a thing for Cinthia and she's going to marry  Gustavo.  Efrain says not to worry, he's going to make sure La Patrona gets exactly what she wants.

Gustavo talks to Mercedes.  He doesn't want to marry Cinthia.  Mercedes wants him to marry Cinthia.   She only wants him to be happy (as long as he's doing what she wants him to do).

Maria now chews out AP.  She heard about the possible marriage of Cinthia and Gustavo.  AP admits she  hasn't peed on the stick yet.  Maria thinks things have gone too far without the stick peeing.  AP tells her  that Cinthia knows about AP and Gus.  Maria thinks things are going to explode any minute now.  AP  admits she's afraid to take the test.  Maria advises that if she is pregnant, she'd better hide the fact that  it's Gustavo's baby.

Vanessa has told Cinthia about the clenbuterol.  Van is pissed that Rogelio isn't there and she has to go  with AP to Tuxtla.  Cinthia thinks she should be the one going, but Vanessa reminds her that she doesn't  actually know what's going on and AP is the one with the power to sign for Rogelio.  Cinthia sees a silver  lining…AP will surely screw this up and Rogelio will end up blaming her for it.  Plus she won't be around  to deal with the water situation.  Cinthia says she could kill AP with her own hands, which freaks  Vanessa out.  "You're not serious, are you?"  Cinthia gives a cryptic smile.

If Gus is the baby daddy, AP thinks he should be the first one to know.  And he'd be around and notice  she's pregnant.  Maria says she has to hurry up and take the damn test already.  AP can't right now  because she needs to go to Tuxtla.  She feels like she owes it to Rogelio to deal with the situation.

Ulises goes to the jail to harass Miguel.  He wants the necklace back that Maripaz was wearing.  Miguel  doesn't know what he's talking about, but Ulises is convinced he pawned it for booze.

Cinthia and Vanessa have a hate-fest over AP.  They're interrupted by Maria knocking on the door to tell  them that AP is waiting in the helicopter.  Vanessa leaves and Maria asks Cinthia what's up with her  getting married to Gustavo.  Cinthia evades her questions, but says there will be a wedding.  Maria tells  her not to count her chickens….  Maria just doesn't want her to suffer.  Cinthia's not worried and says  Gustavo is "more engaged than ever."  "How far have you gone with that boy?"  Cinthia says yeah,  they've done the deed and Maria looks disgusted.  Or should I say…disGUSted!

Macario runs into Rutilio at Bruno's house.

Maria blasts her for giving away the milk before Gustavo's bought the cow.  Cow!  Cinthia resents the  interrogation.  Maria is furious with Gus for disrespecting the house.  "Doesn't he think about the  consequences?!"  Maria almost lets it slip about "the pregnancy."  Cinthia says it's easy.  She also has the  right to an heir.  "What do you mean you 'too'?"  Cinthia covers her own slip-up by saying she's referring  to Margarito.  She'd be thrilled to be pregnant, though, because her child would be a "real" Montero.   Snobby hag.

Rutilio explains that he works for Bruno.  He gives Macaria his condolences.  She brought Bruno the  coffee he always ordered.  Macaria hands it over to Rutilio and leaves, glancing after him suspiciously.   Rutilio comments that Macaria's even hotter than her daughter.

Elsa is glad to see Vanessa.  She brags that she got Mr. Williams to come over and hang out at the house  so he'll calm down.  She's had rooms prepared for Rogelio and Hugo.  Vanessa starts to explain about  Rogelio and Elsa loses it when she sees AP.  She starts smacking her around and Vanessa just laughs.

Consuelo can't get over Maripaz's death.  Maria tells her life has to go on.  Consuelo can't believe Miguel  did it.  She thought he was a good guy.  Poor Consuelo must be really doubting her taste in men right  about now.

Vanessa finally tells Elsa to back down.  AP offers to leave as soon as the business meeting is over.  Elsa  can't quit grabbing AP by the hair at every opportunity, calling her a bastard, etc.  Vanessa finally starts  to look disturbed by her mother's behavior and pulls her off AP, shoving her in the opposite direction.   AP gets in one "WTF is wrong with your mother?" before noticing that Mr. Williams is standing nearby.   She hisses to Vanessa who comes to stand by her just as J.R. Ewing-Williams turns around and informs  the women that he's not a happy camper.

Gustavo comes to Cinthia's room.  He turns down her proposal.

Despite the certificates, the testing shows that the meat was contaminated.  JR Ewing-Williams wants  compensation.  Since AP keeps calling Vanessa her "sister," JR does the same until Vanessa feels  compelled to correct him.  Wow.  Priorities, woman!  Vanessa and AP both look upset at the prospect of  having to pay JR, even if the money's going to be coming out of Rogelio's pocket.

Cinthia is gobsmacked.  Gus thinks she deserves better.  She whines at him about how AP has a hold on  all the men she loves.

Vanessa argues that the amount is way too high.  JR refers to the contract.  AP points out that she did  deliver on the contract, just that they had no way of knowing that someone would drug their cattle.  AP  tells him they need this kept quiet.  JR gives them 24 hours to pay or he'll sue them AND make sure no  one buys from them again.  Vanessa looks worried.

Cinthia whines about not wanting to marry David.  Gus reminds her about her plans to work.  She  whines that she needs money to get away from Rogelio.  "The only reason I haven't told Rogelio  anything is because I don't want him to hurt you."  She asks him to leave her alone.  Ooh, guilt trip.   Guys looooove that.  Gus leaves and in classic Rogelio fashion, Cinthia throws a tantrum, knocking a  bunch of stuff off her desk.  She sits down and says "And here I thought I was the one using him!"

JR threatens to inform the authorities about the contamination and says they'll never export again.

Consuelo went to the fonda to visit Ulises and Macaria.

JR's phone rings mid-conversation and he goes to take the call.  Vanessa starts crying and AP tells her to  calm down.  "Tears won't solve anything."  She reminds her the most important thing is to resolve the  situation.  Vanessa complains that the meatpacking company is all she has.  She whines that Rogelio will  still have the land and the crops.  AP says that "their" dad had other businesses and not to worry, they'll  figure something out.  Vanessa has had it with AP talking like she really cares about her and says it's her  fault that Rogelio left, so if they can't fix this, it's all her fault.

Consuelo encourages them to open the fonda and the store back up.  She offers to help them out.  She  doesn't want to stay at the hacienda, near Efrain.  Especially not knowing that he's in love with someone  else.

Elsa gripes to a friend on the phone.  Vanessa comes in and Elsa turns her whining on her.  Elsa wants to unload on AP some more, but Vanessa tells her to calm down already.

JR and AP sit down alone.  She assures him they'll pay, but she doesn't want Vanessa to be hurt by this.  JR feels slighted by Rogelio's absence.  He wants to see a check.  "Um, I don't have access to all the money right now.  I either have to sell some land or wait for an investment to pay off."  JR concedes that he might be willing to reconsider suing if she'll give him at least part of the money now.  He admits he was really surprised by what happened, given the reputations of the hacienda and the meatpacking company.  He's won over by AP's sincerity and repeated insistence that it wasn't their fault and someone done them wrong.  He thinks they can come to an agreement.  If Crazy Elsa doesn't screw it up!  She comes out to the patio shrieking at AP about doing it all on purpose to hurt them, calling her a bastard for the millionth time, etc., etc., etc.  Vanessa gets her to leave and apologizes to JR for her mother's behavior, saying she hasn't been well since her father died.  JR tells her she should attend to her mother and that he and AP are working on an agreement.

Consuelo tells Maria that she's thinking of leaving so she can help Maripaz's parents.

Cinthia tells Efrain she's not sure she's getting married.

Consuelo says she also wants to get away from Efrain.  Maria tells her not to run away from her problems.  "Stay a while longer.  Maybe things will change."  Maria tells her that Cinthia is going to marry Gustavo.  Consuelo gets excited, but then gets a hold of herself and says that's nice for Cinthia.  You go, Consuelo!  Maria says she's been feeling alone, but no worries.  She tells Consuelo to go ahead and go.  Consuelo figures she'd better wait for Rogelio to come back, though, so he doesn't think she left because things were going badly on the hacienda.

AP visits Miguel in jail, where he promises yet again that he's seen the light and is going to turn things around.  Miguel asks her if she's preggers (with Hugo standing right there).  He says if she is, she's got to get the hell out of there with Gustavo.  "Don't make the wrong decision, not because of me."

Crazy Elsa tells Vanessa "You don't know what I had to do to make sure you could get all your father's money without having to share it with that bastard!"  Vanessa can't figure out what the hell she's talking about.  "What, you think it's no big deal?  I didn't give your father the medicine he needed."  "Wait, so it's your fault my father died?"  Ew…let the spin begin.

Tomorrow: Cinthia is pissed that Gustavo won't marry her; AP pees on a stick, finally!

Well, I was nodding off about halfway through, so you should be in for a good recap :)

RL (reel life?) update...had an audition yesterday and booked the gig...woo hoo! Can't give details, but it's a training video and I have to do it in Spanish...dun, dun, dun! They'll have my lines on a teleprompter, but I don't care, I'm still going to learn them ahead of time. I rock the prompter in English, but Spanish...yikes! Same script as the audition and halfway through I was stumbling over words...luckily my character was supposed to be very upset, so it all worked out!

Congrats, Kat. You use what you can in those situations and sometimes the results are pure gold.

I actually felt sorry for Vainessa last night; we'll see how long that lasts. Elsa's confession was a complete surprise. If Vainessa has half the brains we think we've seen, she'll have her committed before she does any more damage. I don't think Vainessa would turn her madre in to the law, but she definitely would send her to the manicomio. She can't have forgotten that Elsa was always irrational about Fed.

She's also seen Sinthia's crazy, possibly for the first time. Since they know each other almost forever she was justified in being freaked out.

However I'm still not buying her statement that Rogelio was the love of her life.

Macaria is too easy a target for Rutilio in her present condition (physical and emotional). Since Consuelo will be there she might have some protection, as Consuelo's instincts are serving her well about this monster. Ulisses is in no condition to protect his wife.

Rutilio will get careless with that medallion and somebody will realize he's responsible for Maripaz' death. But this will take a little while; it was too much to hope that Macaria would have seen it last night.

Kat: Excellent as always. "Ulises is too busy having a breakdown to give a crap" made me smile as did "disGUSted!"

To say emotions ran high list night is putting it mildly.

Cin was one upped by Gus and I felt not a whit of pity. And UA, I have to say for the very first time, I did feel for Vain as well. Having a BSC and murderer for a mother is not an easy pill to swallow.

I also agree Consuelo has Rut's number. I want her to end up happy but frankly, I don't see anyone good enough for her.

Kat, congratulations! I'm so happy for your continuing success.

Happy Easter all.

Diana

5 Ft. Thanks so much. A good, good recap. Many good wishes for the training tape. I'm in awe of anyone who can perform on stage, in front of the camera, etc.

My guess was that Ana was NOT pregnant. Now I don't see how she can't be inasmuch as they've made such a build up and Cinthia is beyond crazy with jealousy and worry about her inheritance.
Expecting pregnancy-related fireworks tonight.

I don't see how they can't redeem Vanessa. Someone as nice as Ana has to have closure with the sister that her father gave her -- at least in novelaland. On the other hand, we have a lot more episodes for Vanessa to do damage and occasionally wonder whether she is damaging herself. Ana was definitely the smart one in last night's episode. They do resemble each other, sitting side by side.

Suzana G. continues to dominate the screen in every scene, IMHO. We'll see how she does as the unraveling continues. Sad, sad.

I'm wondering who else knew that Rutillo works for Bruno. The revelation to Macaria may be important later.

Congrats kat! sounds like a great gig. You are so talented in everything you do.

How long is it going to take her to pee on the gosh darn stick, and then how long will it take her to reveal the truth? Methinks tonight will be full of is she/isn't she but that they'll still leave us hanging over the weekend. With Rog gone for the duration, they need to milk these plot developments for all they're worth.

@UA: "...I'm still not buying her statement that Rogelio was the love of her life." Me neither. This gal hasn't got a feeling bone in her body. She's the one who couldn't love anybody.

You know, Cinthia SHOULD be able to run that ranch in Rogelio's absence, and even Vainessa knows she hasn't a clue and can't help out in this emergency. Contrast this with AP who has been learning all she can in the short time she's been there.

And speaking of Cin, what the hell is Efraín doing? Why isn't he in the thick of this, figuring out what is happening with the cattle and trying to do damage control? Instead he's hanging out in the kitchens grabbing snacks. It's like he has no idea of the ranch happenings, and Cin doesn't go to him either to find out or discuss what is going on. Efraín's lack of involvement is really bothering me.

Sorry, I just had to get that off my chest. :) I'm still reading the recap.

Audrey

Thank you 5ft for this great snarky recap. Congrats on your new gig. You will do well.

With all of you about Vainy. I never thought I would feel bad for her , but her mother has truly gone round the bend. I can't beleive she told Vainy she witheld those pills.

AP is a fast learner. Rohell has rubbed off on the Cupcake it seems. She is getting very business savvy.

As far as Effer goes, he was away awhile so maybe he has no clue about what has been going on with the cattle. The only person that was near when the poison was put on the feed was the Cupcake but she didn't see anything either.

Ruti is one sick dog. I really thought Macaria was going to see that necklace. I hope he gets caught soon.

Why are they letting Ullisses near Miguel at all? I am surprised they let him get near the cell to yell and scream at Miguel. Maybe the police are hoping with all this yelling Miguel will confess.

Sin is really losing control. I have no doubt if she could get away with it, she would get rid of Cupcake as soon as she could.

You're right, Audrey; Efrain should be inspecting everything to find out where that poison was placed. He should call in the farrier to determine when this was done. AP needs to remember seeing Bruno in the barn, a place she would never expect to find him.

Of course, she still trusts that snake, as does everyone else at this point.

Gustavo should suspect David because of the dam. Not to mention his nasty behavior toward AP in Monday's episode.

Once AP knows she isn't pregnant she can breathe a little more easily. But only a little. With Miguel in the slammer and Sinthia spinning out of orbit she's got too much on her plate.

5ft: Thank you for the great recap, in spite of how busy you are. Good luck with your new gig, I know you'll give it your best.
I loved, "Poor Consuelo must be really doubting her taste in men right about now."
Traveling lady: ITA, Ana is likely not pregnant, and that is why they held it back, they needed the suspense as a filler.
So many of the actors are captivating they do compete for screen attention and with JS out it is more noticeable, right?
Sinthia knows about Margarito being Rogelio's biological son and I think that is why she remarked about her own heir.
Audrey (and Urban): ITA about Efrain, the writers really fell down on the job there, I think. It doesn't matter that he was away, Efrain would be key in figuring out how the cattle got the clembuterol. But no, there he is in the cocina. In a more real situation AP would have asked for some advice from the help, instead of standing around talking about taking a pregnancy test but not taking it.
I will be so glad when JS is back and they can get back to a real script instead of all this improvisation.

It takes one minute now for a pregnancy test. It's not like she's baking a batch of cookies.

And, how long does it take to go to the barn, scoop up some of the feed the cattle left on the floor or in the corners of the trough and send it for analysis?

This is just goofy.

True. JS is the heart and soul of this series.

Anyone else think he's going to walk or drive back into the ranch?

5ft. Good Luck, sounds interesting. Great recap, too.

Elsa totally freaked me out with her eyeball popping tantrum. She is scary crazy. Vanessa enjoyed her physical attack on AP.

Yes, JS needs to get back in action. This novela is lacking its center of gravity.

I've been watching Maria Isabel in the morning. Susan Gonzalez and Jorge Salinas are in it, although I haven't seen him yet. Susana looks so much prettier there. Her face is fuller. I wonder if she sucked out some of the fat in her face or if she's that much thinner now!

Just thinking. Cin may actually be having a break down, not because of mental illness in general, but brought on by the controlling abuse by her brother. She has had to stay on the ranch and be there for him until cupcake came. What would any other captured person do/feel/behave after so many years in solitary confinement. She is desperate to be free, at any cost.

So all problems everywhere are the fault of Ana Paula. It's a wonder she doesn't drink too like her brother who's responsible for all the murders. Sheesh.

I have hopes for Vanessa. She's a vengeful brat but she did love her dad. Hopefully she draws from his genes and that crazy mother's.

Kelly

Applause, applause, Kat--for your newest in-front-of-the-camera work and also for your behind-the-scenes scriptwriting (acknowledged that it is after the fact, but ni modo).

I got a big kick out of Hugo standing there pretending to be a disinterested party when Miguel and AP had their little jailhouse conversation.

Miguel tried hard to whisper, but methinks Hugo was all ears, though his face was otherwise expressionless.

So, on Tuesday's recap list, I move Hugo out of the sure didn't know Cin's Gus was also AP's Gus to I betcha he knows now.

The only one left, standing alone is Mr. Hot Wheels (did I say I loved that nickname, Alexandra?).

The two mysteries that are keeping us on the edge are 1) is AP pregnant and 2) who is going to be the one to spill the beans about the two Guses being one to Rogelio.
Any guesses? If it is Margarito, it will be an innocent slip of the tongue.

Ya, ya, of more importance is finding out who introduced the clembuteral.

ITA that Efrain should be tending to his barnyard duties, hehe. BTW, did anyone see that after spearing the fruit and eating it right from the knife, he put the knife back in the block? Euuuwww.

Her Highness, The Vainess, should take a page from AP's interpersonal management handbook. Ana Paula's sweetness went a lot farther with JR-Williams than her self-righteous indignation.
Anita

5ft, congrats on the new gig. Hope we get to see your performance. Thanks for the recap.

Bravo to all three actresses on the Elsa whacking Cupcake scene. Elsa went BSC, Cupcake tried to protect herself and hold onto her dignity but not fight back out of respect to the older woman, and Vainessa was first amused at the Cupcake abuse and then mortified by her mother’s nuttiness and inappropriate business demeanor. I soooo enjoyed this scene.

Yay, Gus turned down Cynthia’s proposition! His back isn’t up against the wall as Cupcake’s was when Rogelio made his proposition, so it didn’t make sense to me that he would go for it. I'm ready for him to move out of the hacienda. He can live someplace else while he solves Rogelio’s water problem.

Still holding that Cupcake isn’t pregnant, but if she is she should tell Gustavo and leave. I don’t agree with Maria that she should hide the father’s identity. Miguel’s a mess, but he has always urged Cupcake not to sacrifice herself for him.

Thank you Kat for the recap! I always love your stream-of-consciousness recaps. This one was great!

I too was gobsmacked at Miguel talking about ANA PAULA ARE YOU PREGNENT?!?! in front of Hugo. And not even whispering that much either. What is wrong with all the people in this novela, that they have no concept of talking discreetly, in PRIVATE?!?!

Did anyone else notice whether or not Mr. JR-Williams had an "American" accent? I don't have nearly a good enough ear to know for sure, but I think he was trying to fake an American accent. (Like he said "Mexico" with the "X.") But it's obvious to me, a gringo, that he was too much not an American to make it convincing. (But he tried.) Can anyone else with a better ear give insights? I find it a bit fascinating, to be honest!

I spelled "pregnant" wrong. I don't know how that happened! LOL.

Loved the recap 5ft and the disGUSted quip lol.

Too much screeching in this episode. Elsa got on my last nerve. At least now Vainessa knows her mother is a murderer. Will she turn her into the authorities?

How will AP come up with the money to pay JR (love that name) so that it doesn't ruin Rog's reputation or business?

Gus is getting on my nerves constantly hounding AP. That and his screeching sister always making a scene. Don't they have a place to live? They should leave the hacienda since there's really no reason for neither to stay there.

I'm surprised that Hugo didn't overhear the conversation between AP and Miguel of her possible pregnancy with his loud whispering.

Thanks for the recap 5ft!

I'm glad Gustavo turned Cinthia's proposal down but it took him too long to do it.

Vanesa has to do something about her crazy mother. I actually felt sorry for her, learning about her mother being basically guilty of her father's death cannot be easy.

I read that Ana Brenda wants to play a villain next but I wonder if after the success of LQNPA Televisa would let her. It's hard to go back and forth between good and evil characters once Televisa sees a particular recognition of the audience for an actor and, after two hits playing a good girl, they might not want to change the perception people have of her.

Jarocha

Kat, heartfelt congrats on your gig. I loved your account of how you stumbled over the words and it worked to your advantage. If only life were always that way!

Thanks for the delightful recap. Other commenters have already cited some of my favorite lines, so I'll just say "ditto."

I've been saying all along that I don't think AP is pregnant, and nothing has made me change my mind. Indeed, the more people learn that she may be pregnant, the less likely I think it is. I suspect that drawing the suspense out like this was in the original script rather than being part of the improv while JS is in the hospital. Nonetheless, I totally agree with EMarie, who said "I will be so glad when JS is back and they can get back to a real script instead of all this improvisation."

Audrey, excellent point about Effer's lack of involvement in the problems confronting the ranch. I do hope he winds up doing something useful before the TN ends.

Elvira-this guy's accent was definitely not American. I always have a good ear as far as accents go and he didn't sound American to me either.

Well, so far, it seems that Effer's main duty has been babysitter to Cinthia. Pretty odd to send your ranch foreman off to "guard" your sister when she goes to town - especially for several days!! You'd think Effer would need to stay at the ranch to direct the peones and keep things running smoothly, especially with Rogelio confined to a wheelchair.

Whatever!

Audrey

Elvira and Madelaine - To me JR definitely didn't sound American if he was going for a Texas or western U.S. accent. But if he was going for an American who's lived a long time in a Spanish-speaking country, I didn't think it was so bad. The best American accent I've heard in a TN was by Mario Iván Martínez, "Steve Norton" in Manana Es Para Siempre.

Neice you are so right. I am watching MEPS in late night and love the character of Steve Norton. Another great American accent is Tracy in El Tal. I swear she is an American speaking Spanish.

Too much screeching in this episode. Elsa got on my last nerve.
---
THIS!!!

Thanks for the recap 5ft. I am barely keeping up with this one right now. I rarely watch and just read recaps and fast forward through my recordings at a lightning pace.
