Abismo de pasión #40 05/04/12: Damn Man! Not Even the Dog?

Clinic-In the Hallway

Damien, Alfonsina and Dr. Whipped (Edmundo Tovar) are in front of the nurse’s station openly discussing Florencia’s diagnosis.  Enrique Whipped, who has trailed his father to the hospital, eavesdrops nearby.  Damien asks about the baby.  Dr. Whipped tells Damien that it was a false alarm; Florencia is not preggers.  Damien explains that she took a test and it was positive.  Doc stresses to him that she was NEVER pregnant.  Alfonsina says that tests can be wrong and then she and her son leave the area to visit the patient. Enrique attempts to follow them, but his father stops him and tells him to go home.  This is none of his business.
Clinic-Room #8

Florencia is sitting up in bed rubbing her legs when Damien and Alfonsina enter the room.  Damien rushes over to the bed and tells her to relax everything is fine. He cradles her in his arms and she continues to insist that she was pregnant even after Damien informs her that the doctor says otherwise.  She reminds Damien that she lost the baby because she fell off of his horse while riding with him. The old but effective guilt trick!  Good one!  Damien’s swallows his pain and fights to hold back his tears.  Alfonsina interrupts the touching moment and says that she also believes that the test was wrong.  She strongly hints that Florencia will have to find another way to trap her son.  When you relax you will see things in another way.  Change of plans!  “I can’t feel my legs.” Florencia is quick and flexible!  BRAVO!  Alfonsina says that it’s Florencia’s nerves and makes the coo coo sign against her head.  Damien asks his mother to leave them alone.  Mom agrees and says that he should try to control Florencia while she’s gone.  Mon leaves the room.  Damien tells Florencia his mother is right.  Florencia says that she’s not crazy and is adamant that she had a bun in the oven.  The stress of this conversations causes Damien to get a little twitch in his right eye.  If it’s not true, she wants him to help her.  Promise me Damien!  Promise Me! (I don’t know what she makes him promise.)  All I know is that he looks sick.
Witch Mountain

It is pitch black in the cenote, except for two blazing tiki torches standing watch outside of Ramona and Paloma’s humble abode. Only the sounds of crickets chirping and blaring night bird songs can be heard over Paloma’s light footsteps.   Paloma dusts herself off and adjusts her clothing before entering the house.  As she opens the front door, eerie, nail biting, Amityville Horror-like background music begins.  Slowly!  She goes to the stove and pours herself a soothing spot of tea.  Quietly! Ramona enters the kitchen and walks over to the table.  After seeing her bruises, Ramona asks her granddaughter what happened to her.  Paloma says she fell.  The suspenseful music continues to stress me out.  Calmly!  Paloma changes the subject and tells Ramona that Damien’s fiancé is expecting.  Intuitively!  Ramona tells her that Damien isn’t a father yet.  Predictably!  Ramona takes a seat at the table.  If that chick is preggers, then it ain’t Damien’s, she says.  The freaky music finally stops.  They played it for absolutely no reason and this was a total waste of several exclamation points and false interjections.
Ramona returns the subject back to the “fall”.  How did you fall?  Paloma chooses a chair across from her.  She takes a deep breath and reluctantly informs her grandmother that Gabino pushed her at the procesadora, but she failed to mention that she pushed him first.  She probably bruised his chest.  Ramona blew two fuses and tried to rush out the door to confront Gabino.  Paloma blocks her grandmother from leaving.

Clinic-Room 8
When Alfonsina re-enters the room, says that the doctor suggested that they take her home to rest.   Damien is sitting on the bed watching over Florencia as she sleeps.   Damien tells his mother that he will take Florencia to see a specialist in Mexico.  Mom says, that’s not necessary.  Damien reiterates that he will escort her to Mexico.  He leads his mother away from the bed so they will not disturb the patient.  While their backs are turned, Florencia opens her eyes and smiles; we now know that she was feigning being asleep.   When he returns to the bed, she “awakens”.  He tells her that they are going to Mexico.  When Damien tries getting her to stand, she begins to wail that she can’t feel her legs.  Triple Whammy!  She lost our baby and she can’t walk and it’s his fault.  Ingenious.  He’ll have to stay with her until the final episode.  She cries and hangs on to his neck for support.

Dr. Whipped’s Residence
As a weary Whipped enters the door, Mrs. Kravitz (Begona) rushes to interrogate him.  She demands to know what happened.  How is Florencia?  Didn’t Enrique tell you?  No, he’s locked himself in his room.  Whipped tells Mrs. Kravitz that Florencia isn’t preggers.  She thinks he’s saying that Florencia lost the baby.  He tells her that Florencia was never baking a bun, there’s no yeast, and the pilot light was never lit!  His expression says that he thinks he’s arrived in Stupid Town.  Why is that so hard for everyone to understand that the chick was not ever preggers?   She wants to know what happened.  She fell off of a horse.  He takes his keys and walks towards the door.  He wants to know where is daughter is.  Sabrina says that she’ll be home late.  He wants to know why she didn’t go walk home with her.  They argue.

Restaurante-Paolo Against Obviously Lonely Ogglers
Sabrina is trying to scam on Paolo.  He doesn’t give her the time a day.  She doesn’t realize that Paolo enjoys women who are adolescent, wild or are completely disinterested in him.  She fits none of those categories.  She’s might be young, but she’s no challenge and she wears too many clothes.  Can she have a ride on his moto.  He tells her that his moto was in an accident and he had to wait all day in Merida to get it fixed.  No, I’m the only one who gets to ride my moto.  She invites him to come get his hair cut or come for a chat.  He tells her to forget about him.  He ain’t attracted to her.

Clinic-Kenia’s Room
Alfonsina walks into Kenia’s room.  Kenia is surprised that Alfonsina is there to visit her.  Alphonsina corrects her and tells her that Florencia is pretending to be lame.  She can’t trust anything that Florencia says now that she knows that the two of them plotted to make Elisa think that Florencia was preggers.  Alfonsina wants to know why Kenia is still there.  Kenia say it’s obvious that I had an accident, moron!  Tomorrow I will blow this town at my first opportunity.  Perfecto!  Says Alfonsina.  Don’t come to the house, I’ll send a driver with your things.

Casa de Castanon
Elisa gets her music box out and seated alone in a high-back chair, assumes the daily “I’m gonna have a good cry” position.  While remembering her only kiss with Dam Fine, she’s in tears before she can open the lid.  She’ll never be able to feel his lips or his touch again.  Gosh, now I want to cry with her.  Suddenly, the “good cry” tears morph into tears of frustration.  She slams down the lid and runs over to the balcony for air.  After opening the window and assuming the frustrated cry pose (consisting of large bosom heaving, arms flung open, while dramatically leaning on to both sides of the open door for support), she sees Paolo arrive on his moto.  Slowly, she backs away from the window so that she won’t be detected.  (Now would be a great time for that Amityville Horror-like music, because sneaking up behind her is an orange alien like-creature with big yellow straw hair, pearly white fangs and flashing blue eyes!)  Carmina sees her tears and asks what up?  Elisa replies, ”Nothing,” and flees from the room.  Curious, Carmina goes to the balcony and looks out.  When she sees Paolo, she smiles and adjusts her hair.  Their eyes connect; she signals him where to meet her.

Ponderable items for discussion during the commercial break:
Elisa has been wearing the same clothes since the Tuesday episode.  This means that it has been the same day in La Ermita since Tuesday.  Are you following me so far?   This means that Elisa has gone into her room to cry at least 5 times ON THE SAME DAY IN LA ERMITA.

Hacienda Arango-Florencia’s Bedroom
Alfonsina enters Florencia’s bedroom carrying the X-rays.  Florencia is in bed.  Damien, looking downright defeated lies beside her, holding her hand.  Alfonsina leaves the room.  Florencia, smiling like the Cheshire Cat, caresses Damien’s hand arms as she speaks.  Sad violin music plays in the background as she laments the loss of the faux pregnancy and the drills home her now pretend useless legs.

Casa Donde Todas la Familia es Whipped
Sulking because Paolo, the Italian rapist chooses not to violate her, Sabrina Whipped lies in her bed, clutching a yellow stuffed duck.  Mrs. Kravitz-Whipped, her mother, enters her room and wants to know if Sabrina is sick. Why is she still in bed?  Isn’t she going to work?  No, she says.  I’ve been shamelessly throwing myself at a sex fiend who refused to take advantage of me.  I’m not pretty and I feel fat.  He wants Elisa.

A Lift
Gabino gives Ingrid a ride…this time on his horse.  She’s seated in front of him on the saddle.  Her back to his hard chest, she sits in the circle of arms of steel as he guides the horse with the reigns.  After arriving at their destination, he dismounts first, and then helps her down.  See?  He is a gentleman.  While she waits, he ties the horse to a post.  She doesn’t want anyone to see them coming into work together.  She tells him all about the conversation she had with Maru.  Poor boy, he sure is sexy, but he just doesn’t give a damn about how he’s dressed.  What’s up with the one sleeve rolled up look?  He goes over to get a little smooch, when a rock strikes him on the back of his head.  It’s Ramona!  The next time you touch my grand-daughter, the rock will be bigger and heavier.  Ingrid asks what he did to piss Ramona off.  He says the old woman is nuts.

Clinic-Kenia’s Room
Kenia is sitting on her bed.  Today, she is being discharged from the hospital.  The check she’s holding in her hands was the great salve and wonderful therapist.  She looks fantastic for someone who only recently lost her baby after being thrown from a moto traveling at the break-necking speed of 10 miles an hour or less.  Gael (his lips have always disturbed me) comes into the room to check on her.   He notices the suitcases.  She tells him that she is leaving town.  She wishes she could have had a brother like him.   He sits on her bed and he warns her about Ingrid; he says that he doesn’t trust Ingrid either.

Clinic-Office de Dr. Whipped
Alfonsina determinedly marches into the waiting area.   Paloma unsuccessfully tries to prevent her from barging into Dr. Whipped’s office.   Florencia cannot walk!  You said she was fine, she says.  The doctor tells her to take the X-rays to a specialist in Merida.  He doesn’t know why she can’t walk.  She yells some more.  He said that he’s perfectly capable of diagnosing that girl.  He will not allow her to insult him.  She tells him to accept his responsibility.   He gives her the name of a (psychiatrist) specialist.  She tells him that she doesn’t trust him, she will find her own specialist.   Elisa joins Paloma as she eavesdrops outside of the door.  Paloma tells Elisa about the horse accident and that Florencia can’t walk.  When the doctor comes out, Elisa asks him about the baby.  Oh for the love of Goodness!  Has the whole town gone mad?  Am I in the Twilight Zone?  Have I been talking to myself?  That chick was never pregnant!

Casa de Castanon
Mrs. Kravitz-Whipped still incensed that a pervert has rejected her daughter, has come to confront Augosto about his lack of control over his daughter.  She tells him that Elisa falsely accused Paolo of attempted rape and how she tricked Damien into fighting for her lack of honor.  He tells her to shut up and get the hell out of his house.  He will not tolerate her talking like that in his home.  Carmina shows up and tells him that she hopes that he believes what she says about Elisa now.

Casa de Arango
Broomhilda soared home on her broomstick in record time.  Florencia wakes up from her nap. Alfonsina is watching her legs like a hawk.   Damien went to work and left her to watch over Florencia.  Florencia is pissed that Damien was not there staring at her when she woke up.  Alfonsina asks Florencia if she is really paralyzed.  Florencia says yes.  Alfonsina tells Florencia that if she’s lying, she will have to deal with her.  Alfonsina says that she knows that Florencia is capable of lying because of what she did to Elisa.

Paolo opens the door and it’s Guido.  What are you doing here?  He heard about his daughter’s accident and he’s come to check on her.    Paolo didn’t know about the accident.  Nobody tells him anything.
Casa de Castanon

When Elisa enters the house, her father confronts her about Paolo.  She tells him that she didn’t mention it because he doesn’t believe anything that she says (like now!).  Carmina comes in.  Elisa tells her father that she saw them kissing while her mother was still alive.  Carmina was messing with her own sister’s husband.  Carmina says that she will not stay in the same house as Elisa.  She tells Agosto that he has to make a decision.  It’s either her or Elisa.
Back to Casa de Castanon

Who’s it gonna be, Augusto?  Her or me? Agosto tells Carmina to stop being so dramatic (like someone else in the room).  He says that if anyone goes, it will be him because he is sick of them both.   After her father storms out, Elisa faces Carmina, eyes filled with tears (what a surprise).  Carmina promises Elisa that she will regret insulting her.  After Carmina leaves, Lolita enters and Elisa breaks down in her arms.  Technically, this is her first time crying today in La Ermita time (she’s changed her clothes).  She was due for a good sob.   She says that she can’t stay in that house.  It’s hell.
Casa de Arango

Florencia is in bed.  Her father cradles her in his arms. Paolo sits at the foot of her bed.   She tells her father the Damien plans to travel to Mexico with her.  Alfonsina enters the room and mentions that Florencia insists she was pregnant.  “You were pregnant?” her father asks.  She stutters around, and says that she the test could have been defective.  Besides, she was stressed about Kenia’s situation.   This causes a big fight between the brothers because Paolo cared more about his moto than the baby or the girl.  She was going to get rid of the baby anyway, he said, so it doesn’t matter if she lost it or not.  After Guido and Alfonsina leave, Paolo applauds Florencia’s acting skills.  What happened with the horse was perfect.  It covered up your lie, he says.
Casa de Castanon

Lolita serves Elisa some tea.  The doorbell rings, it’s Paloma.   Paloma immediately tells Lolita that Florencia was never with child.  Lolita is shocked.    Elisa says this doesn’t change anything.  Paloma tells Elisa that she needs to go after Dam Fine.  Elisa says no because Florencia fell off a horse and she can’t walk.  Paloma says that Florencia can travel back to Mexico in style.  They’ll put her in a nice car; she won’t have to walk.  Elisa asks her friends to support her decision.  The bell rings again.  This time, it’s Don Lucio.  Her godfather notices her tears and touches her face.  For the love of all that is good! Please don’t ask her what’s wrong!  What’s wrong, he asks.  She tells him how her father won’t believe her.  He’s the same, she says.  Please don’t tell her what a wonderful person she is and how much she means to you!  He tells her that she’s like the daughter he’s never had.  Darn it!  Annnnnnnnnnnnd right on queue.  Sobs and Tears.
Casa de Arango

Agosto shoves himself in to the foyer and demands to speak to Paolo.  Guido introduces himself as Paolo’s brother.   In order to make himself completely understood, Agosto clearly enunciates the name of every male associated with the Arango property.  He informs his captivated audience that he’d better not see or hear of Paolo, Damien, Mr. Ed or even an Arango dog being near his daughter, his house or his familia again.  The next time he comes, he will bring more that a warning!  Damn man!  Not even the dog?  Guido wants to know what happened.  Damien says that he’ll tell him, but Alfonsina interrupts and says that she will do it.
Procesadora

Lupe visits Ingrid at work.  He wants to talk to her.  He won’t keep lying for her.  This isn’t the place to talk about this she says.  They can talk after work she says.  Maru interrupts and asks how Florencia is doing.  The Padre is shocked to hear that Florencia fell off of a horse.
Casa de Arango-Alfonsina’s Bedroom

Damien and Alfonsina argue over why she won’t believe Paolo was trying to rape Elisa.  How can she believe that he violated Kenia, but doesn’t afford that same courtesy to Elisa.  She says that it’s not the same thing.  She wants to know why he is more worried about Elisa than he is about Florencia?  Basically, she says that it’s his fault that Florencia’s in that condition.  He struggles to swallow and looks sick again.
Fields de Casa de Castanon

Agosto asks Gael if he really loves Elisa.  Yes.  Then why not fight for her?  She doesn’t want me.  If you love her, fight for her!  That will make life easier for the rest of us.

Cynderella:

What a terrific recap! Wow. My favorite section so far is you succinct analysis of the way Florencia will control Damian for lo, these many upcoming episodes:

"When Damien tries getting her to stand, she begins to wail that she can’t feel her legs. Triple Whammy! She lost our baby and she can’t walk and it’s his fault. Ingenious. He’ll have to stay with her until the final episode. She cries and hangs on to his neck for support."

Great call on the upcoming lot and a super recap.

More mañana!

Thanks again Cynderella for getting this up so quickly.

Cynderella..you fiend! You are cracking me up with your delicious defense of Gabino. Reminds me of how Carlos always appoints himself defender of the bad (but beautiful) anti-heroines.

Damn right ,Paloma pushed him first and no doubt bruised that awesome Gabino chest. And clearly he's a knight in shining armor if he gives Ingrid a ride on his horsey. Forget all that other stuff. Just a bad decision here or there, based on his youthfulness (succulent youthfulness I might add.)

Also loved your detailed analysis of how many times Elisa sniveled in a day, based on the clothes she was wearing. Yep, someone needs to tag our heroine for being hopelessly leaky, lagrima-wise.

Comments on the creepy music and how you were led to waste a lot of exclamation points...also great.

Consider a future as a standup comedienne. The pay and lifestyle aren't great, but lady, you could knock 'em dead.

Cynderella, obviously I have to take back whatever I said about Elisa's crying being justified a couple of weeks ago. It might have been justified, at that very moment, but COME ON! Obviously the producers just can't let go of the cliché of the heroine always in tears.

Loved the Gabino arms of steel! LOL! Very funny recap, especially the scary cenote jungle witch house bit - LOL!

OMG, Cynderella, what a masterpiece! I laughed all the way through breakfast. It never occurred to me to count crying-jags-per-outfit. Genius!

How I love Saturdays morning and my Cynderella recaps. So hysterical and you really gave the snark to the craziness last night.

"I’ve been shamelessly throwing myself at a sex fiend who refused to take advantage of me. "

"He tells her that Florencia was never baking a bun, there’s no yeast, and the pilot light was never lit!"

"Broomhilda soared home on her broomstick in record time"

And I could go on and on. Wonderful.

And I'm with you and Audrey, enough with the sob scenes already. Damn, move out, move on, do something productive except sit and mope in your room. ( Lord, I sound like her mother) but seriously. I hate heroines that just sit around and snivel all day long. Fight back and give them as good as your getting.

I think we need to change Dr. WHipped's nickname and move it over to Dam. That poor puppy just got a new lease and will no longer be able to go out and play without someone holding it. Have to say, I do like that Alfi is going against cliche and not falling or supporting Flo's antics. Usually the two would be in cahoots. Looks like we may be getting a lot of "Hero in Tears" scenes too. Argh

Ramona needs to be signed by the Yankees. Nice throw!
I love the riding up to work on a horse--lucky Ingrid at least doesn't have to carry a laptop like I do. There is just something off about those two together--I think it's lack of chemistry or something. I just see Gab acting goofy for someone with a lot more sexiness--we need to move Suzanne Gonzalez over from LQNP.

I said I wanted the Irritating Ingrid plotline wrapped up, but dang, those previews! I DO NOT want to see Gael and Padre's relationship on the outs. I live for those two and their rapport.

I liked that Paolo called Florencia on her latest game with Damien. He saw it for what it was and called her on it. Takes one to know one.

There are two very ugly parents in this TN and they are getting harder and harder to watch. Painful, actually...very painful.

Alofonsina with her frozen face and her hair in ringlets (is that supposed to negate the frozen face?)is cold and cruel. Her eyes are just as dead as Augusto's. Those two dead souls belong with each other.

I have not seen as many of these novelas as the rest of you, but this is the first time I have ever despised and loathed a character as much as I do Augusto. He thinks he can just sell of his daughter to the first man who will take her and, somehow, this will solve all of his problems.

My biggest wish is that Elisa would quit crying and start thinking about how she should leave her horrid, cruel, and abusive father and get on with her life. Many of you here have already said it, but moving in with her godfather would be the best for both of them.

Augusto makes me sick every time I see him. He is sickening, just sickening to watch and I can't wait...I am counting the days for when he finds out the harm and cruelty he did to his child. There had better not be any getting away and pardoning of what he has done to his own flesh and blood.

Thank you for the recap.

Brilliant recap! Your wonderfully witty turn of words afforded many a Saturday morning chuckle. You have a gift...

Muchas Gracias,
Liliana

great recap, Cynderella! i loved all the references of Elisa's crying and Flo's strategy switching...
i don't mind Gael's lips but i have noticed that that is one signature feature in his face... besides all the facial expression he has... like the one-brow lifts he can do so easily...
my favorite part of last night was gael/Kenya scenes and also the previews... so the 'I don't have a family or sister' won't last long, will it? so the dramatic scenes between Gael and Padre Loopy are coming up soon.. can't wait!

Cynderella, thanks for the recap. Were we supposed to believe that Paolo and the Orange-ho hooked up?

Yes Anon @ 11:54 Elisa should move out. She knows she's being abused and aside from general TN pain and suffering I don't understand why characters subject themselves to this abuse. It's painful but also not necessary. It's been established that Elisa is the long-suffering heroine and the Toad is a horrible person do we really need to see him say more wretched things?

And while crying heroines are part of TNs, could we have less crying in the 21 century and a bit more kicking butt. We don't even have to jump to the action genre just have Elisa act a bit more like Teresa (from Teresa) to the Orange Menace and her father. That could be fun.

The Padre/Gael break up is going to be sad but that brief snippet of Fina "accidentally" spilling a bowl of soup on Flo looks promising.

Oh and Marta I wanted to ask you and Jarocha a few questions of TN re-makes as I know you both have seen many. Could you e-mail me at bowdre04@yahoo.com? Thanks.

Thanks Cynderella, you had me laughing especially when you noted that not even the Arango dog or Mr. Ed could go near Elisa. That was a hoot.
I agree with all that it's high time for Elisa and Delores to move into her godfather's home.

Yola

Cynderella,

Another masterpiece!!

I loved: For the love of all that is good! Please don’t ask her what’s wrong! What’s wrong, he asks. Hahahaha!!

Florencia has officially crossed over to the dark side. At first she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time but now she's a liar, a manipulator, a gossip monger. And she takes pleasure doing it! Those smirks behind Damian's back make me sick!

And you called it, Cynderella, on GG throwing her daughter after a potential rapist?! GG is no stranger to gossip and if even HALF of what the town is saying about Paolo is true, she should be locking Sabrina in her room, not vexed that Paolo likes Elisa!? Begona is dumb as a box of rocks.

And Dr. Whipped is turning out to be a stand up guy, despite his earlier dalliance with Nem-ho. He didn't cave on his medical principals, he gives Begona what for on a regular basis and he's trying to help Quique find his way. I'm liking him more and more.

Thanks, Cynderella!

Katy

Great stuff. I had to watch the episode this morning because I was out last night.

Karen, I am so with you on this. Elisa should be kicking butt or -- as I once suggested -- faking her death and coming back 5 years later to kick butt.

Okay, I'm getting REALLY fed up with Blogger -- as if it weren't enough to make me type in FOUR stupid pretend-words every time I log in, now it just blows up half the time and throws me out. I had a nice comment about Alfonsina's gorgeous outfit in this epi, but I don't feel like typing it in again, so I'll just say that I hope I have half her style when I'm her age and leave it at that.

UA - I really like your scenario of the abused protagonist faking her death and coming back a la "Count of Monte Cristo." That has interesting possibilities.

Stuff that was learned in this episode:

Sabrina learned Paolo's just not that into her. Ever.

We learned that Augusto still thinks Elisa is a slut to be controlled after Begonia told him about Paolo/Elisa/Damian cenote, even AFTER Edmundo told him Elisa has NEVER been with a man.

Gael doesn't trust Ingrid.

Everyone learns Florencia never was pregnant but now has "no feelings" in her legs.

UnkaPunk learned Florencia is LYING about not being able to walk.

Guido learned Florencia "was pregnant".

We learned Augusto wants to pawn Elisa off on Gael. *speculation* Will he still feel that way if Gael turns out to be Rosendo's son? Who will he pawn Elisa off on then? Enrique? *shudder*

Thank you, Anon207.

Augusto is pure, unadulterated filth.

I hope his ugly glasses poke his eyes out. He has to pay for what he has done to Elisa.

Here's the thing: I think (very) deep down, Augusto knows that Elisa is not a sleep around slut but he needs to "believe" Elisa is a slut (medically proven or not) so he can continue to punish Estefania.

Every one of Augusto's slut put downs on Elisa has a mention of Estefania.

So, you might not be a slut today, but you will become one because you look like and are like your mother.

Now, if Elisa is genetically a slut just like Estefania, wouldn't she slut around on Gael just like Estefania did on Augusto?

And if Estefania was such a natural slut, shouldn't he be concerned that Carmina is also slutting around? Or does not really care what Carmina does? If he does, it would only be for pride, not b/c he loves/likes Carmina. He doesn't.

Also, as Elisa pointed out, Augusto WAS kissing on Carmina while Estefania was still alive. How much of his anger is guilt projected onto Estefania?

And why hasn't anyone questioned where Estefania's jewelry went to? If she snatched them up to run away with Rosendo, why weren't they found at the car crash? Lolita saw Carmina with the jewelry but Carmina lied and said Mr. Bouvier gave her and Estefania the same jewelry.

Thanks for the comments! I'm glad that some of you get my humor. Some of you are extremely passionate about Agosto. But, in his defense, he was told his wife was had a lover. The mans wife told him so AND his wife's sister agreed. Next his wife dies in the car with "her lover". He was a witness to the aftermath of the accident. For years, his wife's sister continually tells him that the kid is not his. She doesn't have his skin complexion. He tries to secretly get a DNA test and it only confirms the lies he has been fed. Basically, she is a daily reminder of how someone he loved made a fool of him. He doesn't know the truth. It's driving him crazy! He may not be loving towards her, but he's given her a place to live, he feeds and clothes her. He didn't had her over to the orphanage. Also, everyday someone is coming up to him to tell him that his daughter was seen with some dude. Everyday! If one person told you that they saw your kid break a window, you might not believe them if your kid denies it. If 40 people tell you they saw your kid with the rock. You accept it. I'm not saying that it's right, I'm saying that he is kind of justified mean. Lol

Cynderella, just who are the 40 people telling Assgusto that Elisa is with Dude X, Y, and Z? How is that even possible when she is still a virgin (as proven by the doctor)?

About the jewelry: I can't see how Monsieur Bouvier would have given his daughters the same jewelry; that's wasteful. Two sisters don't always even have the same taste in jewelry. I can't imagine Lolita believing that any more than I would. Most women would see right through a lie like that.

U.A. I'm not saying that she had sex with them. I'm saying that she has been seen with dudes (which is a fact). To use Sharkbaits words: Agosto would have to put on his telenovela beanie to believe that on Monday Gabino tried to violate her, then two days later, Paolo tried to rape her, then, oh...Damien is sniffing around too and Gael too. Is she the only "b@tch in heat in La Ermita?". I agree that she ain't doing nothing. I'm just saying that he (that character) doesn't have all of the information.

Cynderella

THank you for the recap Cynderella!

Cynderella- This recap had me chuckling all the way through. Thank you.

I am looking forward to Alfie outing Flor. I love the fact that although they are both trying to control Dam, they are at odds and Alfie isn't taking Flor's crap. Can't wait for the hot soup "accident." Bwahahaha!

Anon207 and Cyndrella- Good job analyzing Augie. The only thing that is certain is that he will have a LOT to make up for when he eventually finds out the whole truth.

I'm happy that Kenia told Gael not to trust Ingrid. The crap is really going to hit the fan tomorrow night. I feel bad for Padre Lupe already.

I don't think Lolita ever believed Carmina about the "duplicate" jewelry. But who's going to believe her? Augie would be the only one with any cause to question the missing jewelry, but he has shut his eyes to ANY proof that contradicts the "Estefi was a cheating slut who was running away, and Elisa is the same" story. That's why he never pushed more for answers about the direction of the car, the lack of a suitcase, and the missing jewelry (if he even noticed). Lolita's info will only be useful if told to the right person who also has useful info. As I mentioned in my list the other day, a lot of people know a few things. On their own, those things aren't really proof, but added together they form a complete picture. The right people just need to start talking and sharing info. Elisa should start investigating.

You said what I wanted to say very eloquently Vivi! Thanks! Maybe he's turned a blind eye, but he does know all of the facts. He's a jerk to her, but he can only work with what he's got. Cynderella

Elisa does cry a lot (and she has plenty of reasons to), but she has also given quite a few verbal and physical (remember that slap to Alfie's face) smackdowns to her tormentors. In this episode, she really gave it to Augie and Carmina good by reminding them that they have no moral high ground to stand on when they betrayed her mother when her mother was still alive, and that would be good enough reason for Estefi to run off with another.

The problem is that Elisa is sane, and Alfie, Augie and Carmina are CRAZY. You can't reason with crazy people, so all you can do is cry in frustration. The best solution for some of the day to day torture would be to move in with Lucio (and she did try that once), but as was also said, it would only increase the talk and gossip in town, which would make her life even harder in some respects. She's damned if she does and damned if she doesn't. Whatever it is she does, I hope it's with fewer tears and even more of her feistiness (which I think she already has plenty of).

OK. Augusto feeds, clothes, and houses, Elisa. He didn't hand her over to the orphanage. He's emotionally abused her since the day her mother died, but he does do the above things you mention. I get it.

Yes. Many people come to tell him about his daughter's faults. They insult his daughter. He believes the lies.

I can cut someone some slack if they have bothered to try to find out the truth, but Augusto never gives Elisa a chance to show him the truth.

Augusto has never bothered to put two and two together about anything when it has been staring him right in the face. It's interesting how he thinks the people who are lying to his face have more credibility than his own daughter.

Augusto has never sought the truth about anything because abusers are always right.

I will be so disappointed with the writers if they decide to get Augusto off the hook by saying he is 'crazy' and never knew what he was doing.

I'll be even more disappointed if Elisa forgives him. He doesn't deserve it.

I agree with all of you. He treats her like crap. I'm saying that he "thinks" that he has all of the information. I'm not saying that he's right. I'm saying that he's working on information that he has. You're ALL right! He just handles his anger differently from what all of you would.

Cynderella

U.A.: she will forgive him because she wants him to accept her.

Thanks Cynderella, once more your recap is hilarious and I'm truly enjoying your fascination with Gabino. For the most part the folks at CC are very tolerant of such things although I've occasionally encountered rare hostility for my own unpopular predilections and defenses.

My feelings about Augusto are similar to yours. I don't like the man, he's weak and malleable but I'm not quite ready to toss him into the furnace of Hell. He does of course need to be punished but in fact he has been and is... on a daily basis.

I would be defending Alfonsina except for that fire thing. As for her appearance, yes she's missing a few frown lines but she is nonetheless very pretty and has the best sense of style.

I'm also holding out hope for a happy ending for Flo... but please please please not with Quickie.

Sylvia, your recap for Thur was inspired. I'm so sorry I didn't get around to commenting but I was amused charmed and titillated.

Carlos

Thanks Carlos! I appreciate it! I am fascinated by Gabino because he is so bad and pretty! I will be so sad on the day he dies (all really evil characters have to die in the end). Darn. Please send flowers during my week of mourning cuz I will miss him.

Cynderella

Cynderella, I am absolutely exhausted after a very busy and tiring weekend, but I couldn't resist taking a peek at your recap. WOW! I laughed all the way through. No really, ALL the way. I think this was your best recap ever. Now I'm not tired because I was laughing too hard.

LOVED the Witch Mountain paragraph. Just brilliant. Every damn word.

I can't decide between my favorite scenes from this episode. Was it when Ramona threw a rock at Gabino or when Elisa let both Carmina and Pops have it about them smooching way back when? Decisions decisions.

Cynderella, I give you big props for kinda sorta sticking up for Augusto, however I'm with the Anon(s) and others who think he is sickening and unmitigated filth. I had a father who always believed me and supported me my whole life, so I think Augusto's behavior is not even close to normal. His consistent refusal to believe Elisa has everything to do with Augusto and very little to do with Elisa. All the evidence to believe his daughter is in front of him but he refuses to see or accept it. I would be cool with him dying and/or meeting a horrible demise any time now.

Gabino, well I fear it's also too late for him, but I hope he sticks around a bit longer because he is some good eye candy.

Florencia, I am still hoping she will be redeemed. Except for her recent spate of lying she really hasn't been THAT bad of a person, has she?

(Carlos, you're welcome.)

Cynderella, thanks again. I like it when you get on a roll with your subjects. Please, don't EVER hold back.

Yes, but if Mr. Sharkbait had possession of a secret DNA test that said you're not his AND the Orkin Mans wife AND your aunt went to your father and told him that your mom was messing with the Culligan Man AND you happen to be the same shade as the cable man....don't ya think your father would be a little bitter and suspicious? You can't compare his reaction to her to a man who KNOWS you are his. He's a jerk. We all know it.

you all can see what Sabine used to look like (more human like) in Maria Isabel in telefutila mornings for the next couple weeks.

Good morning all,

I've already, "beaten a dead horse," "shot my wad," and just generally "chewed my tobacco twice," on the Arturo thing, but it seems that with so many really reprehensible "evil-doers" in this novela and the extent of their many horrible misdeeds, I would think that if "they" are condemned to a terrible novela fiery death, that Arturo just deserves third degree burns over 20% of his body with a long recovery because he is a victim of their lies and cruelty too. I think he is a weak person who is making mistakes, not inherently evil like the rest of the MANY miscreants of La Ermita.

It's funny how bad news travels fast and good news doesn't travel at all. Elisa passed her peculiar "Clinic-Room #8" test, but she is still being treated like the town ramera by almost everyone!

Cynderella, we totally get your humor, in fact we love it. I read the recap before I watched the episode and really enjoyed hearing the "freaky music."   "They played it for absolutely no reason and this was a total waste of several exclamation points and false interjections." So true........ What a fun romp your recap was, thanks!

AUGUSTO:

It's not that Augusto doesn't have all of the evidence, it's that Augusto picks and chooses which evidence to believe.

Augusto is a victim & a coward.

He chooses to believe the bad stuff about Elisa & Estefania because it allows him to keep being a victim and a coward.

By moaning about Estefania betraying him 15 years after the fact, he doesn't have to get over it. He can keep being Estefania's victim.

By choosing to believe malicious gossip about his daughter instead of what the doctor told him, he can keep being Elisa's victim.

I don't give him any credit for feeding, housing & clothing her at all. The only reason he kept (and keeps) Elisa around is so he can be a victim. Elisa is a human reminder that he's Estefania's victim.

He's facing financial ruin, and instead of fighting back, he just sits with his broken glasses & busted hair and whines "WAAH WAAH WE HAVING MONEY PROBLEMS WE GON' LOSE THE LAND NO WE NOT GON' REBUILD THE GREENHOUSE CUZ THE FIRE WAS A SIGN THAT ESTEFANIA WAS A DIRTY SLUT WAAAAHHH!"

Augusto can't be redeemed until he decides to muster up the courage to stop being a victim.

FLORENCIA:

I feel for Flor up to a point. Damian was there for her when her mom died, he wanted to marry her. They had a job and their whole lives waiting for them in Mexico City.

But as soon as Damian came home, he changed. Instead of being all about Florencia, he was all about this Elisa chick. Everywhere Flor turns, people talk about how bad Elisa is and how she'll take your man and her mom did just the same.

She sees this Elisa chick and the girl is beautiful. And Damian is getting in fist fights over this girl but when it comes to Flor, he gives her a Kanye-shrug. She threatens to go back to Mexico, he's like "Ok, bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out."

Florencia was being shut down and shut out by Damian for no fault of her own.

But this is where Florencia has gone wrong: Instead of gathering up her dignity and telling Damian, ya know what? Here's your ring back, I'm going back to Mexico, don't call me until you're finished with this Elisa chick.

All of this bad mouthing Elisa, fake pregnancies and fake paralysis is only going to turn Damian off to Florencia.

I know people may say "Why would Florencia have any interest in Enrique over Damian?"

Well, Enrique pays attention to Florencia, that's why. Damian doesn't. Enrique thinks Florencia is the best thing since La Anita habenero sauce. Damian doesn't.

Thanks Sandy in TN!
