El Talismán #68 Fri 5/4/12 Everybody's Talkin' At Me, I Don't Hear a Word They're Sayin, Only The Echoes of My Mind

A little ditty for you to sing while you wait for my recap. It is sung to the tune of Anamaniacs:

We are Talismaniacs

We are loyal that's a fact

So just sit back and relax

While your recapper gets the facts

For Talismaniacs.

Previously on El Talisman:

Pedro and Cameela are telling Mariana that Tonio lied to her. She shows them the faked newspaper article.

Today on El Talisman:

Panchito and Pigorio are having a conversation and Pigorio wants to know if Panchito delivered that check to Rennie? Panchito says of course. Pigorio wants to know if anything was said? Panchito says not really. Panchito wants to know about the papers Tonio had Pigorio sign in the hospital? Pigorio tells him not to worry about those, cause Tonio will be leaving Alcatrash soon.

Tonio and Lucrazy are having their usual looneytunes meeting, and congratulate each other on their part of Alcatrash. Lucrazy is going on and on about Pedro being free of that bruja Cameela. Tonio gets impatient with her and says according to mis planis the job isn't done yet. The plan still includes El Viral. Lucrazy wants to know what El Viral has to do with it?

Angel, Army and Maria are hanging out and they want to know why she is pre-occupied? She says she is thinking of Manuel. They kind of chuckle and want to know more about them. She tells them Manuel is the adoptive father of Mariana, you know they one that interrupted the wedding? Army is like say what? That women that's after Pedro? Yes, the same she has no memory of what happened to her, and please don't tell Cameela anything about Manuel. It will take Mariana some time to remember. Maria is going to work and doesn't want them to spill the beans to Cameela. They say they won't. Army is still thinking of Fabi.

El Viral has been waiting in Manuel's office. He comes in and the look on his face is priceless, like Que the Hell? What is this gasbag doing in here? Of course she is spewing the usual poisonous fumes right in his face. She wants him back. He says oh, yeah right. All you ever wanted was my money and the jewels I gave you. You only cared about yourself. She yaps about betraying her husband and children for him. He says you did it to yourself, you shouldn't have chased me. There was something about an inheritance I didn't get. So El Viral turns the tables she thinks, and asks him why he wants to get involved with a married woman and child? He tells her he knows Maria is divorced and besides children were never an impediment for him. So she gets this gleam in her eye, and says you sure about that? He says his wife couldn't have children and they adopted Mariana. He tells her he won't listen to her foolishness, he tells her don't tell me Cameela is mine, cause I know you are a liar and you won't entrap me again. Now , wait for it, LARGATE and leave me alone. She gets up in his face, and I swear he is trying not to laugh, and she tells him One day you will come back to me I swear. He tells her never, he is in love with Maria. She goes out of the office and in her gas filled pea brain she says I'll seperate you from my sister and you'll never be happy.

Mariana, Pedro and Cameela are talking in Mariana's doorway, she hasn't let them in. Pedro tells her that Tonio made up this paper. Mariana says clearly you only married me for money and El Tal. They keep telling her Tonio is a liar and this is just the worse gossip in the paper. She tells them Tonio told her she was very in love with Pedro. Cameela and Pedro are pithed. Cameela stands up for her man, and tells Mariana that Pedro is not capable of doing these things and she has it all wrong. Mariana insists she is Pedro's wife. They tell her Tonio is a manipulator. She doesn't beleive them. She prefers to beleive Tonio. Pedro even tells her how Tonio seperated him from Cameela for the longest time. She is not buying what they are selling. She says Pedro is the manipulator. They tell her Pedro was only like a brother to her, he married her to protect her from Tonio and to give the baby a name and nothing else. She refuses to beleive them and says she beleives she was in love with Pedro , punto. Cameela is so pithed off she leaves. Pedro is getting irate, but he tells Mariana you don't have your memory back but when you do, you'll see I was telling the truth. He tells her he is divorcing her and marrying Cameela. She cries. He leaves to look for Cameela but she is gone.

Tonio is in the study of El Tal doctoring those pills. Lucrazy comes in and asks him what is he doing? He says nothing important. Now the funny thing is there is this big bottle of poison on the desk, and Tonio has done a magic hand thing, where he has hidden the pills in his red handkerchief. Lucrazy never saw them or what he was doing. They wonder if Pedro will remarry Cameela after things are settled with Mariana. Tonio tells Lucrazy he has put some ideas in Marina's head. When Tonio was doctoring those pills he said El Viral will take the blame. Lucrazy does see the container of poison, which by the way, doesn't look like the one El Viral got him. She wants to know what that is? Tonio tells her it is something Valentin got I think to kill the rats. She leaves.

Cameela has called Maria, crying her eyes out so much, Maria can't understand her. Cami tells her they met with Mariana and that Mariana is in love with Pedro. Maria says come see me. Cameela meets with Maria and tells her Mariana is in love with Pedro, and she's his wife, where does that leave me? Maria is trying to calm her down and tells her to come into her office so they can talk calmly. Manuel is leaving for the day, cause Mariana called him all upset. Maria stops him and says she needs his office. Cameela is telling Maria that Mariana thinks she is in love with Pedro. Manuel asks her how she knows Mariana? Maria tells Cameela Manuel is a collegue of hers and is Mariana's adoptive Papa. Manuel asks Cameela if she is Maria's neice. She says yes, I am Cameela, the wife of Pedro! Manuel tells them Mariana doesn't remember anything, and he is getting angry. Maria tells them both to chill out, and Manuel says he's leaving. Cameela and Maria are still talking about Mariana, and Cameela says Mariana is saying she is getting some memories and Maria says who has she been talking to, besides the two of you? Cameela says Tonio. Maria says there you have it, she is getting these "memories" from him.

Panchito and Pigorio are on horses and Pigorio tells Panchito to wait there. Pigorio goes close to the border of El Tal and comes back. Panchito asks him what he was looking at? He says he won't answer any questions but, wait for it, El Talisman will be MIO.

Now we have Doris, who has flown the er pigsty. She is with Brigette. Doris tells Brigette that Lucrazy, as crazy as she is, thinks something is going on between the Pig and her. Brigette suggest she stay with her for a couple of days. But Brigette tells her that if she really wants Pigorio to fight for him. Doris is packing and decides to go back to Alcatrash.

Gabe, Padre, Margo, Sartia and Pedro are meeting after the disasterous convo with Mariana. Pedro is looking for Cameela, but she isn't back yet. Pedro explains to them exactly what happened and that Tonio is putting ideas in Marina's head. Pedro tells Padre he has an idea. All that money of Mariana's is in the bank, and he'll just show Mariana. He gets the papers and goes back to Mariana's. Cameela comes back after Pedro left and she has a litte convo with the Padre. She is afraid of all the obstacles that are in her path with Pedro, but the Padre tells her to have some faith, everything will work out in the end. She asks where Pedro went? The Padre tells her back to Marina's. She wants to go to, but Padre stops her and tells her to let him do this alone. Everything will be ok. She is getting really perturbed that it is taking Pedro so long.

Manuel is with Mariana now and they are discussing what happened when Pedro came with Cameela. It bothers her what Tonio said about Mariana's Papa and Pedro, and to top it off, wait for it, she compeletly beleives TONIO!!!! (I tell you, if she beleives Tonio, I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell her, jus' sayin'). She tells Manuel she is completely in love with Pedro. About this time Pedro comes back, and Manuel wants to know what he is doing back? He tells Manuel he wants to talk to Mariana, but she doesn't want to hear anything he has to say, (and she's in love with him, please, somebody, anybody hypnotize this girl, and get her memory back), but Pedro stands his ground and says he has proof he never lied to her. He says these are the bank statments from all the years you've been gone, and you'll see I never touched a penny. They are stunned. Manuel takes the bank statements. Pedro tells her he doesn't want to cause her anymore pain, but he says he was never in love with her as he said, and he wants her to beleive him. Pedro is leaving, but Mariana asks him to stay. She says she never cared about the money. He tells her he wants to clear this up so he can divorce Mariana and marry Cameela. He tells Mariana she was very in love with Tonio, but Tonio didn't get divorced. He tells her Tonio was the one that really wanted El Tal. He tells her he worked at El Tal as a peon. He tells her again about everything he has been telling her, but adds that her Papa sold El Tal to Cameela's family, the father, Estagone gambled it away, and Pedro  won it back in a card game with Pigorio. So Pedro really is the owner of El Tal. He tells Manuel that Tonio and Lucrazy have been trying to seperate him and Cameela for years. He says Tonio is in love with Cameela and Lucrazy is in love and obessed with him. Manuel and Mariana are starting to give Pedro the stink eye. Mariana says so all these women are obsessed with you and in love with you? Her face is saying oh, please! Pedro says he only loves Cameela. Manuel wants to know who he feels the passion for? Pedro tells him Cameela and only Cameela. He leaves.

Lucrazy comes back to the study and tells Tonio that Doris has left Alcatrash. They are so happy they have a couple tequilas. Tonio has a whip in his hand, what is with the whip in these TN's, and says, wait for it, Cameela will be mine. Yeah right, sure, sure, only in your wildest dreams. Little do they know Doris is on her way back. Tonio says he will never let Doris come back. After their little drinky poo, Lucrazy leaves.

Fabi and Flor are upset that Mama Doris has left. Flor wants to go live with her, yeah right, that is gonna happen, and Fabi wants to move out on her own. Flor is begging her not to leave her alone at the Pig Sty. They hug.

So on the last part of our TN, Tonio is putting those doctored pills on Pigorio's nightstand, and says the Pig will take these pills, get sick and die Tonight! Now I have to say here, I don't know how El Viral will get fingered for this. Tonio has put his prints all over the bottle and the pills, and this time he didn't use the handkerchief or gloves. Jus' sayin' What a bumbling booby!

Lunes on El Talisman:

Lucrazy accuses Tonio of trying kill Pigorio.

Tonio leaves those pills on Pigorio's nightstand.

Comments:
I just had to use two song references for this. I am cobbling this together and should be done some time this evening. Please sing our little ditty while you wait. lol.

Jijí. Can't wait.

Madeline--A big Hurrah to you and thanks for saving the days for Talismaniacs everywhere. I'm coming up for air for a two-day break before company arrives again.

I'm all caught up with the episodes, the recaps, and the comments. All good fun when watched (including Corazon Ap) and read in one marathon sitting. Clearly the writing has improved three-fold and there are fewer beanie moments (although I still don't understand why Padre Sebastian is staying on nor how he knew Mariana, other than what Pedro had told him).

About Manuel's love child. It would give it a real twist for Armando and Angel to both be his sons, but tn convention says it will probably be Camila. It wasn't clear to me until yesterday's episode that the torrid affair between La Hot Gasbag and the good Doctor was while she was already married to Estegone. I wonder how the affair ended.

Have fun for the next week and a half---I'll be back, por lo bueno o por lo malo, as Antonio would say.

Anita

P.S. I watched the Lola Ponce video clip. Wow, I didn't recognize her at first. She's been underutilized in this novela. She would have made a smashing seductress. It would have made more fun if Pedro had actually fallen for her charms while Camila was "away."

Yay, Anita! We are now a triumvirate -- all for one and one for Alternate Fresno!

So now the recap is up. Lots more info on this one. There was another scene I left out with Angel, Army and the gasbag where she comes screeching in and is spouting poisonous fumes about Manuel and Maria never being happy. The boys look at her like she is crazy and Que the Hell!, but she huffily leaves the room.

Oh, I have more lyrics for The Talismaniac Song which I will put up as we go along. The title of this epi comes from a song by the late great Harry Nilsson. He wrote and performed it.

Thanks for the comment Anita. Yeah that video is a gas, and I agree they way underutilized Lola Ponce here. She would have been some tough competition for Cameela, if they hadn't made her so crazy.

Madelaine, thanks for the recap.

Friday cleared up the matter of ownership of ElTal. I always thought it was Pedro's because he won it in a poker game with the Pig. I am glad to know that my Spanish is getting better.

I have been so pithed at Manuel. Once he found out who Cami was and who her mother was, it explained everything to him. Cami is just like ElViral as far as he is concerned. What a jerk.

Rosemary Primera

Rosemary Primera, yeah Manuel is becoming a jerk. They way he gave the stink eye to Pedro and looking at Cameela as if she were just like El Viral, but I did notice he looked at her overly long, like could this be my kid? I wondered about that.

Thanks for the recap Madelaine. Your title sums up Mariana as she's so fixated on being in love with Pedro she can't process anything else and its getting old.

While Manuel is being stupid, I'm hoping he can bring Mariana back to sanity and persuade her to stop listening to everything Tony tells her. I'm still waiting for Manuel's boss to come back in the picture so he can verify what Pedro was saying.

Also, as Kelly noted, Pedro/Cami need to get beyond the divorce situation (I know, its hard and requires maturity) and let Mariana know the danger she's in. Pedro feels strongly that the Pig kidnapped Mariana and he is the reason Tia Patty and Claudio are no longer with us. Pedro also knows the Pig was responsible for the loss of her child and her insanity. Hello, people this woman is a walking target. Move her away from the whole topic of love and talk about why Pedro married to "protect" (yeah he failed miserably here) her (from those crazy people at El Trash).

We know the Virus is a windbag but her latest vow of keeping her sister from happiness is mean and spiteful. The best part of Manuel from this episode was him shutting her down at every turn (thank goodness he knew Maria was divorced; that lying witch). Spending some time in jail will be good for her and her family.

Does anyone know if all the problems with the show made the writers shorten this TN? I've seen ads for 2 new TNs and "Dos Hogares" is going away soon.

Karen thanks for the comment. I too am hoping that they start protecting Mariana, cause the latest assignment the Pig gave Valentin was to get rid of Mariana and this time make it permenant. The two new tn's you are seeing is one is replacing Dos Hogares and the other is replacing Una Familia Con Suerte which I beleive is ending towards the end of the month or early next month. UFCS is in ultimate capitulos.

Oh, I think I know how Tonio proposes to nail El Viral with this. If this TN doesn't follow TN rules, anyone that buys a controlled pesticide, like for rats let's say, they have to sign for it. Now unless she signed a fake name they can nail her for buying it, BUT even if her prints are on the bottle, Tonio's are too, especially the pills and he didn't wear gloves. The only one that gives Pigorio his meds is Doris, and she might be in trouble too for handling the bottle. I can't wait to see what they do next with this.

With this epi, I think we're getting back into "Quién es Más Tonta" territory...

Mariana: I'm totally in love with you, I totally don't trust you, I don't want to listen to a word you're saying, but I won't divorce you. And I live with my Dad. What kind of domestic situation is she envisioning here?

Camila: We have vowed not to let anything come between us, but now there are, you know, obstacles. Yucky!

María: Boys, don't tell Camila anything about Manuel being Mariana's adoptive father! Promise! Because I'm going to tell her myself in five minutes.

QTH???

Madelaine--Finished the recap. Fast paced and complete.

I may have misunderstood the conversation between El Viral and Manuel over their love affair. I thought he said all she was interested in was the money and the jewels he *could* have given her. She retorts that she was not interested in that as her husband had just gotten an inheritance.

In the part where El Viral says she yaps about betraying her husband and children, he scoffed--you didn't have any children then.

I'm glad, too, that Manuel knew Maria was divorced and could call her on it. It was stupid of Elvira to try to deceive him in this because it would be something so easy to verify since he and Maria work out of the same office.

There is something about El Tal that goes beyond greed for mere possession of it for El Piggorio. Several times we've heard him say *hay algo* or something like that. Is it that there is something buried there? We need to keep paying attention.

Karen--you are so nailing it. If there are 50 or 60 more episodes yet, something is going to happen to Mariana before she ever gets her memory back. A failed assassination attempt or kidnapping? Maybe it will take a major trauma to jog her memory.

I hate to say it, but I'm much more interested in the Maria-Manuel-Elvira storyline than the Pedro-Camila storyline. I'd like to see Rennie and Rita come back, though. They were fun.

Whoever mentioned it, I agree that El Capitan and Doctor Raul need to help with the debunking of the Antonio lies to Mariana and Manuel. Thank goodness he's still the voice of reason. I wish someone would go to the Library and look into the old issues of the local papers.

I'm beginning to think that LARGATE is the most used word in the latest group of novelas on tv. I think it has outpaced NO ME TOQUES and SUELTEME.

Anita

Anita, I think you're right about LARGATE outpacing some of our old Bingo-card favorites -- but it's still way behind QUE HACES AQUI!

Correct on the conversation between Manuel & Maria -- he reminded her that he wasn't, as she claimed, more important to her than her husband and children because she didn't HAVE any children yet. Since their relationship was of such short duration, I think we can assume that means Camila would be his possible offspring. And if Angel is the same age, I guess we can't rule him out, either...

Pig made some sort of comment to Pancho about how "no one knows the reason, but this place is MINE" -- I assumed he was referring to the fact that Mariana's mother was his first love and should have married him instead of Mariana's Dad. But lots of people know about that, so maybe there IS something else. I like the "buried treasure" idea.

P.S. Just watched the Lola Ponce video on Italian TV -- wow! She sings very well in that one, and if you click on the one called "Lola Reggaeton" that comes up at the end, you can see some dirty dancing, too. And a somersault in 5-inch heels!

Thank you Blue Lass and Anita for what I missed. I was really hoping that Angel is the only offspring of Manuel. Manuel was looking hard at Cameela though. If she is she would have a great Dad, considering who her mama is. They also use CALLATE alot in this one too. I like that Padre Sebastian has hung around. He is going to get the orphans to the orphanage and help run it I think. He is a nice voice of reason too.

When was the last time a character went and researched the newspaper or went on line and googled someone lol. They could solve this so easily. Also talking to Dr. Raul would help and El Captian. I really thought Manuel would do that. I know Dr. Raul told Manuel about Pedro but not a whole lot. If Dr. Raul ever finds out Pedro saw Mariana or that she lives with Manuel then Dr. Raul will probably talk to her.

I agree with you Blue Lass about Mariana. The poor thing is just sooo confused. One minute she beleives Pedro and the next it is all about Antonio. She is very conflicted right now. I wonder though if she saw Pigorio she may get a flashback. She has had some of Pedro, but not of Pigorio, even though she's heard his voice. I think Anita is right too, that something traumatic for Mariana may be the only way she remembers anything.

I like the theory of "buried treasure" too. I know Pigorio always wanted El Tal, but lately hasn't mentioned it. So I wonder what he will do now to get it. It belongs to Pedro now, so I wonder what is going to happen; El Capitan is very suspicious of Pigorio.

I think "Es el colmo" is catching up quickly to largate and sueltame. The telenovela trifecta!

I love the idea of buried treasure! And of Elvira out there with a shovel because "Es el MIO!" (This is our longshot phrase but it's well in the race).

Kelly

Thanks for this, Madelaine, as well as for Thursday's recap.

Now I'm less certain about the parentage of any of those kids. It looks to be more likely that Camila is Manny's daughter if any of them are.

In this episode she said that she deceived the father of her children with Manuel and he quickly pointed out that she didn't have any children when they got together.

He said that if she really cared for him that she would have left her husband instead of deceiving him, but that she was after her husband's inheritance instead.

She then complained that her husband's inheritance took years to collect("...tarde años en cobrarlo...").

He said that he never had children and she replied, "You never had children? And how are you so certain that you never had children?"

He said that he that he knows that he never had children because his wife was sterile, and she said, "¿Seguro?"

He then told her not to start up with the story that her oldest is his daughter.

All of this took place in several different scenes and I thought it was quite confusing.

As to the buried treasure, Pig asked Piglet if he knew what was there (at some far corner of El Talismán. He said no, and donG replied it's best that he not because he (Pancho) wouldn't like it if he found out.

Maybe a body buried there?

I kinda like the idea of the Femsibs going to live with Doris at Briget's place. Hard to say which is worse, El Alcatraz or Briget's. They might need to go to the library at night to study.

Carlos

Well, *somebody* should go to a library. I hear they have newspapers there. Real ones.

Hmph.

On a complete and utter tangent: has anybody else listened to the soundtrack CD for this hot mess? The reason I mention this is because Aaron Diaz himself contributed a track to it, which is entitled Mi Talisman; I probably wouldn't have thought twice about it, except that the name Camila pops up in it. My Spanish is still horrible, so I'm no doubt missing some subtleties (and it wouldn't surprise me if the song was played at some point in the show, since half the soundtrack has been up to now), but I thought the juxtaposition of Mr. Belt Buckle of Raging Machismo and crooning a ballad to his would-be conquest was more than a little amusing...

Thank you Carlos so much for the inheritance thing. I too was so confused cause it was spread out over a couple of scenes. I too thought she said something about "Are you sure you haven't had any kids"? She really wants him to think that Cameela is his, I think. I'm betting it's Angel that is.

Ya know Blue Lass you are so right about the library. I think the only time I have seen people use the library, I think it was on UFCS when the kids are at school. I wish they would show a Mexican Library just once and someone using the newspaper archive, although where was Tonio when he had that guy make up that newspaper article? It looked like an office somewhere, not a newspaper.

Yowza Bill C. that Aaron Diaz is *hot*. I never watched Teresa, where he was a good guy. Too bad he isn't redeemable here. I would so have some things to say in these recaps lol. He can sing too, wonderful. Thanks for the link.

Kelly, I laughed at the imagery of El Viral with that shovel in the dead of night, with her headband with the miners light on it, so she can see in the dark, screaming Es el Mio, lol, while she is digging around. Too funny.

Madelaine, on Abismo Eliza went to the library once -- I was really excited! -- to check out a bunch of books on chili peppers. She's still reading them, so they must have a loooong circulation period.

Good morning everyone, I just now was able to watch this episode and enjoy the terrific recap. Thanks Madelaine!

I'm a little frustrated at Mariana's determination to believe Tonio over everyone else, but I'm hoping Maria will help straighten out Manuel and he will help straighten out Mariana. I'm not holding my breath for this to happen any time soon though.

At last we are getting some back history on ElViral and Manuel and yep, it looks like Camila is his kid. This should mess with their minds for a while, lol.

Bill, cool link to Aaron's song. I first saw him singing on a program after Teresa and was impressed by his nice singing voice. I didn't even know there was a soundtrack to this hot mess.

Allrighty, add me to the list of the curious as to what is buried in the far corner of the ranch. At least we are getting some stories out of this one. Finally.

Thanks again Madelaine!

Madelaine, I forgot to say I love your title with the lyrics of Everybody's Talkin'. Is there a Midnight Cowboy amongst our lot? The Negretes are kind of tragic in their unending attempts to get what they want by underhanded methods that never quite seem to work out. I like the Animaniacs, much more lighthearted!
