Una Familia Con Suerte #259-260 Mon 5/21/12 Truth or Dare, Once More With Feeling
Labels: familia
That Vile one has got to go, already. And the voices in her head, scary I have to say. I don't think she got any treatment at all in France.
Loved the Ana and Freddy honeymoon, especially when they sang together, it was really sweet.
Candy as a nun, now I can see it. I couldn't before. She has the best of intentions. I hope it works out for her. Shame on the family for making fun of her. I thought at least Lupe would be supportive, only Chela was. The family kept thinking it was a joke. Loved the "heavenly light" that shone on Candy. They all saw it.
Pancho was so sincere in forgiving Iracheta. I hope Vice wakes up, before it is too late.
I think Sebas was having trouble with his car, and Pina told him that Pepe is a good mechanic.
The gifter of all the gifts to Arnold Flowers was Raymundo at Avon. He has had that crush on Arnold forever. Arnold knows too, but has always shunted him off. Now with the breakup of Barbie and Arnold, I wonder which way Arnold will go.
I agree with you Cheryl about Pina, they better not kill her off. She is the best character. I loved her and Ana's chat, and Ana imitating her. It was cute.
Your recaps have always been a delight. Thank you so much Cheryl for recapping these two hour marathons.
Thanks for the Raymundo naming. I couldn't find it on IMDB or other places I looked for detailed lists of characters. I will go in and change it tonight.
I haven't been watching this one like I used to and only catch the last 20-30 minutes as I wait for Abismo, but I think I'm gonna miss it :(
I am with Madelaine--they better not kill off Pina. She has been the most interesting character for me.
I am trying to feel for Moni. I understand it is very tough to deal with an unplanned pregnancy, but all of her rejections of any kind of commitment (like marriage) just leave me thinking that she is selfish. Granted, I have not watched as much as others so I may be missing something.
You did a fabulous job with your final recap. Violeta is bat sh!t crazy, but the actress is really working it.
Still no food sightings at this disco wedding. I was looking at all the funny dancing everyone was doing in the background. Ado in particular was getting down with one of Ana's bandmates.
I think Ana's dress was one of those convertable ones. A friend of mine had one and I and a few other friends helped her hitch up what was a super long train in the church into a bunched up floor length bottom. It takes lots of hooks and buttons. I think Ana's long train works in the same way and turns into that bunched up skirt.
Nice honeymoon spot. I think it's a good sign that Ana and Freddy can laugh with and tease each other about their mistakes (Karina and Adrian). Chela could take a lesson and learn to lighten up about Vince and Enzzo's friendship. Poor Enzzo. Torn between his bff and his wife. No yummy food. And now, no yummy sex.
This baby may be the thing that forces Moni to finally make a commitment. I think she will surprise herself by how good she is at being a mom. The actress herself has mentioned that having her own child so young forced her to be more focused and driven. It turned out to be a good thing for her.
Vivi, a convertible wedding dress? Who knew? (Besides you of course.) That's a new one for me.
Does anyone have a firm date for the debut of Amorcito Corazon? Looks like a good giggle.
That turned out to be a fun wedding after all. The dancing was very amusing. I'm surprised that musician Ana would choose such tuneless dance music, though.
Are Lupita and Tomás ever going to get married? How many more weddings can we cram into the last two days?
I don't like all these death threats hanging over my favorite characters.
I'm glad the family tried to reason with Candy, but I didn't think it was right for them to laugh at her. Granted it was unexpected, but it wasn't the kind of thing she'd joke about either.
The deal with Pina Sebastian in the garage was something like Sebastian's car wasn't working, so Pina told him to get Pepe to fix it.
What is Sebastian's job now that Enzo has returned to Avon? I've lost track...
It's ridiculous that Violeta is suddenly being tormented by voices. Did she look tormented the first time she loaded up her poison ring? Did she look tomrnented when she led young David to his demise? I don't think so. She seemed quite cheerful. This eleventh-hour effort to make her seem more sympathetic isn't working for me.
Sara, the deal with Moni is that her family history and crazy mother give her good reason for being extremely cautious about marriage and children. And, you know, it's kind of funny that while Freddie's insecurity was inflated into an entire storyline, Moni has quite a bit of insecurity too and it's never been addressed.
They are all the rage, apparently.
Julie- I agree that a lot of Moni's issues with her family history and her mother's mental illness have not been addressed. I think she's really scared that she may have inherited that instability, and can pass it on. It's kind of normal that someone coming from that situation would be cautious.
Moni is a spoiled one but I love her honesty about not being ready to make a commitment and not letting the sentimental Lopez' gang push her toward what she is not ready for. However, this baby will beg the question. Interesting plot advance to bring up.
Thanks so much for all the support and comeraderie Madelaine, Sara, Vivi, Cap'n Sylvia, Anon and Blue Lass. I won't be far away and will be right there to encourage all of you who are continuing to recap and comment. We all get to study and improve our language skills while getting to know such fabulous people on this blog.
I don't know if I have mentioned but a few months ago I joined one of the Abq. chapters of Toastmasters that is conducted entirely in Spanish, interestingly the only one in New Mexico. You haven't lived until you deliver a speech in Spanish at 7:15 AM, yes indeedy, AM!

Poor Moni; she is so stressed and worried. Poor Pepe; he is so excited about the baby, but can't be completely happy with Moni so miserable. I think she'll do just fine as a mom. She needs a good pep talk from Enzo. He managed to take care of her when he was only 17 and very poor, with very few resources. She's older, has finished school, has a good job (she is still working at Avon, right?), has a devoted and helpful partner, and is surrounded by family who are willing to help. Chela can teach her everything she needs to know. Yes, the responsibility is still scary, but I think she'd find being a mother rewarding as well.
Add me to the list of those who don't like the anvil of doom hanging over our best characters.
Enzo unable to have sex and good food - Is this the price he must pay for being so sexy? If I didn't know this TN could resolve huge problems in a single episode, I'd be worried.
Moni is a natural worrywart. Even before she knew her mother had abandoned her and now is a homicidal maniac, she was a cautious person. Agree she and Pepe should do fine as parents. She’s got the yin and he’s got the yang, or vice versa. But having a mom who’s a homicidal maniac would give anyone pause. I hope they don't kill off Violeta but instead have her in treatment, behind bars of course. Agree she probably didn’t get treatment in France as she was supposed to.
If Candy's going to be a nun, I'd like to see her do it "Sister Act"-style where she shows the convent alternative ways to reach out to the community. She’s got too much zest to be conventional.
Isn’t Barb’s new guy Pina’s divorce lawyer?
I’ll join in the chorus that they better not mess with Pina. She’s the character I’ll miss the most. Hope they give my other fave, Adoracion, a good send-off too. Like maybe Pina hires a hot chef for the house.
A convertible wedding dress? Wow! That explains the huge bubble of material around her hips at the reception. My daughter is getting married next February and the great dress search has commenced. I think I will leave this one off the suggestion list (hee, hee, hee).

Also, Pepe without a job and now Pina is recommending him as a mechanic... that could go somewhere too. That's all I was thinking with that.
Elna June, thanks for the kind words too. I won't be far away, this site is really a revolving door that I seem to get stuck in, fling myself out then get sucked back in after little breaks.
Favorite line from your sparkling recap:
"I lost a few of the details here but I don't care." (Amen to that, sister.)
Also loved:
"buyer's remorse" (Vince) and
[Pancho]" does his burro laugh" (what an excellent way to describe that hideous sound. Sure hope he doesn't laugh this way in real life. It annoys me far more than Temo's histrionics or spiked hair.)
Can't blame you for taking a breather after this. If Univision runs it's next telenovela for two hours every night, they're making a mistake methinks. But they don't ask me!
Judy, I knew you would completely understand my exhaustion and need to curl up on a couch and just WATCH for the next round. I promise to chime in on the new TN and on NoPodia and Abismo which I am currently enjoying.
The Spanish Toastmasters is such a hoot. The speeches (discursos) are 5 to 7 minutes in length typically which seems like an eternity while you are planning but the moment I step in front of the group and begin to deliver, I can't believe how the red flag to stop goes up when I have barely warmed to the subject. It's just magic! For me it is hard to narrow my thoughts to a few clear items that can be explored in such a short time. Then the best part is to sit down and look up at the clock to see it is only 7:30 in the morning and you have just done something you didn't think you could do (yes, even in English). I always love a great challenge.
For me, though, Vice's fate is the biggest question mark right now. If my eyes did deceive me, when you play back those avances realllly slow, we see Vice climbing up on the, whatchamacallit, guard rail? of an overpass - possibly the same one Fernanda climbed up on in the first episode. Eep!
I've notice that bit with Vice on the guardrail as well. Will he or won't he? Maybe he'll jump and land on Vile-etta down below, sacrificing himself but saving everyone from being murdered by her. For maximum redemption I think he would have to save Pancho.
Is my memory deceiving me, or did he actually try to have Pancho killed at one point?
really gonna miss him. what can i say i like the villain, plus he's
funny as all hell. One thing about this show, some of these actors raise
real emotions in me, love, hate, tears, and laughter. What more can you ask out of an actor. For crist
sakes i'm a guy. All in all Bravo. I
will mis this show. John C
