Abismo de pasión #60 6/4/12: The Most Frustrating Episode Award Goes To....
Refrito
- II makes fun of Kenia for falling for ToadHead. Kenia notes there are not a lot of millionaires to hunt. II mentions Damian as excellent prey.
- Dammit. Elisa sold her soul to the devil. She has to cancel her contract with the Pro Ce and sign her lands over to AlfaBitch if the debt is not repaid. Oh, and dump Dam Fine.
Lo Nuevo
Part I
- Elisa goes to Don Lucio and he thinks it's a terrible deal. They could have gotten the money somehow, but Elisa thinks that would take too much time and she wants dad out of jail now.
- Las Dos Heifers contrive to ruin the lives of everyone around them. Flo is trying to work her magic and win Dam over again. Fina warns Flo to cut all ties with Quique. Fina will take care of Elisa and make sure she doesn’t ruin everything. Flo gives Fina a big ol’ hug.
- Elisa returns home to Casa Castigo and Lola produces her life savings. Elisa won’t take it and tells Lola she’s already gotten the money. Lola, of course, wants to know where. Elisa tells her not to ask; that she’ll find out eventually and goes to her room (to cry I assume.) Pop goes the damn Sleazel and she’s not happy Lola told Elisa about the jewelry. Lola tells the Orange Menace not to worry. Elisa has gotten the bail money so the Cheat-ho can keep her jewels. The important thing right now is that Assgusto is coming home. Hmph. Lola looks happier about it than Carmina.
- Flo meets Quique and breaks it off. Forget she exists. Don’t look for her. NADA. She’s only in La Ermita to win Dam Fine back and marry him like she originally planned.
- Dam Fine calls Elisa. When Lola tells her it’s Dam on the line, Elisa wants her to tell him she’s not home. Lola confronts her niña about this and the money and all the other mierda that’s going on. Elisa just cries and runs away and repeats her request to tell Dam she’s not home. She says she's really leaving so Lola doesn't have to lie to Dam! Dam asks Lola to pass along the message that he loves Elisa. They hang up. Pop goes the infuriating mom from hell! Dam explains he’s trying to get in touch with Elisa. Dam is a little gruff with her and she takes offense. She doesn't think it’s right that he be so aggressive with her. Aggressive? Come to my house beech, I’ll show you aggressive. Dam rolls his eyes and hobbles out on his crutches.
- Gael comes to visit the “ailing” II. She is supposedly suffering from pneumonia. Gael notes she looks pretty good. She says she was pretty bad for a while but is better. She mentions being his mom, but Gael wants to change the subject. She wants to know why he came; for pity? Gael is all “You sent Gab to get me!” Oh and Gael is pithed! He isn’t movin’ until II tells him who his padre is!
Part 2
- II claims it's too risky to tell Gael who his father is. That's why she abandoned him. She claims that's why she denied Kenia after the accident. Someone dangerous wants them out of La Ermita. Gael won't rest until he finds out who his father is. After Gael leaves, Gab tells Ingrid that Fina is perfectly capable of killing them both.
- Elisa runs into Ramona at Steffie's grave. Ramona says Steffie was a good woman and everyone will feel like crap when the truth comes out.
- Begone whines to Fina.
- Tonia is still whining about Gab and Useless Vicente
- AWW! Lola accepts Horacio's novia request. He smashes her bread (not a euphemism, he really smooshed it.)
- Doctor Tovar visits Casa Castigo and talks to Orange Ho. She thinks her hot orange lovin' is so fantastic it broke up his marriage. He tells her to get over herself. He does't understand how Assgusto could have married her and stood her for so long. He wants to tell Assgusto that she wanted to mess with the test results. She says it was to make sure Assgusto still believed Elisa was his daughter and know Assgusto knows she isnt. Someone else chime in here. I can't understand Sabine at all and CCs don't help much.
- Assgusto is sprung from the hoosegow and Lucio fills him in on Elisa's deal with the devil and the jewels Carmina claimed to try to sell.
- Quique and Paloma drink coffee and share their tales of romantic woe.
- Kenia has a flashback and when Gael comes to call sort of backs up II baloney story, but also tells him not to trust II. She says all she knows about his dad is that he has passed away.
- Elisa avoids another call from Dam and cries.
Part 4
- Lupe visits and Dam explains Elisa won't take his calls. Damian insists that he and Elisa ASAP. Hey, Dam...while you're at it tell your mom to butt out ASAP.
- Gael and Lupe talk about II. Lupe tells Gael that he is bound by the confessional, but that his dad is a good man. Only II can tell Gael who his dad is. Gael is not pleased with this. He says Padre and II are both the same.
- Flo doesn’t want to go back to the DF. Dad reminds her they just came to check on Dam Stupid. Flo insists she can’t leave until she knows Dam Stupid is back to a normal life. Papino sees right through her and knows she just wants him to stay so no one questions why she’s there alone. She says Dam won’t question anything if Papino is still on the scene. She *needs* to win Dam over again!! He gives in but claims it’s for Paolo.
- Assgusto arrives home and Elisa gives him a big hug. Thank heaven he hugs her back. He says they'll talk later about her deal with the devil. Right now he has to talk to Carmina.
- Assgusto goes to the bedroom and is smarmed on for his troubles. He asks about the jewelry. Orange Ho claims it was from her dad and finally hands the box over after Assgusto starts trashing the place. He knows it's Steffie's Stuff!!
- Elisa cries, but takes a break to tell Assgusto about Paolo and Carmina

I can't believe that Elisa agreed to this. Why the hell didn't she just sell the necklace?
I'm getting tired of the DNA test stuff. It's time for Assgusto to learn the truth. He's starting to remind me of Alvaro from Duelo de Pasiones.
Yes UA, I'm pithed about Elisa's deal with the devil also. The only plus is that when Dam the man returns to his senses, mom's getting the gas face.
I wonder what Begonia will do? Does she realize Alfie blow her off and doesn't give a rat's behind about her?
I have mixed feelings about Horacio and Lolita. He is, after all, a murderer. But perhaps a worse crime is that as a kisser he's a bit of a bumbler. I don't remember him being so awkward in Llena de Amor.
I hope Begonia is cool with getting the cold shoulder from Alfonsina, seeing as how she has alienated her entire family because of her precious friendship with the black widow.
Dam Stupid. I like it.
UA, interesting comparison with Duelo. I can totally see it. The truth is staring Assgusto in he face yet he obstinately refuses to see. Will that change after tonight's episode? (Highly doubtful, it's just a rhetorical question.)
Great ending tonight with Augusto letting Carmina have it about the jewelry. I imagine she'll somehow lie her way out of it but at least for tonight I can be satisfied with her misery.
We learned Elisa doesn't love Dam Fine as much as she claims (she didn't even put up even the tiniest fight for him tsk tsk tsk)
We learned Enrique & Paloma are a perfect pathetic pair. (Actually like a friendship b/w these two)
Lucio & Assgusto learned of the deal Elisa made to spring Augie out of jail.
Gael learned his daddy must have been extremely important, for IrritatING and Lupe to hide his identity.
Guido learned Florencia is up to her old spidey tricks.
Begoña learned Alfonsina does not have time for her and her silly problems.
Carmina learned Edmundo is suspicious of her and the DNA test results.
Augusto learned Carmina had Estefania's jewels all along. (I'm guessing Augie had all of Stef's jewelry specially designed by him like the pearl necklace ---that's how he knows it's Stef's jewelry & not a gift from Papa Bouvier)
Tomorrow:
Carmina's 'bout to learn how it feels to be accused of gettin' down & dirty with Paolo.
OBSERVATION:
Have we EVER seen Alfonsina go to Begoña's house?
He's been stewing in jail thinking about Paolo/Carmina......which GABINO revealed to him. I think if Elisa had told him first, he wouldn't have believed her. But Elisa will confirm this tomorrow night, and Kenia is a witness as well.
He's been thinking that Estefania ran off with her jewelry to be with Rosendo 15 years old....he discovered Gabino had Stef's specially-made-by-Augie pearl necklace for the past 15 years and now he's discovered Carmina had the rest of Stef's jewelry for the past 15 years.
Lucio, Elisa & Kenia raced down to the jail to visit Augie in jail. Carmina took her sweet time getting there........so he's wondering WHY Carmina wasn't haunting the jail like Lucio, Kenia & Elisa were.
Elisa made a deal with Alfonsina to get the bail money, but Carmina did not sell her/Stef's jewelry to raise bail. If Carmina had done so, Elisa wouldn't have had to deal with Alfonsina.
Not to mention he's starting to ask details about the night Rosendo & Estefania died. Carmina will spin some good excuses but I think Augusto will remain suspicious of her.
REALLY!! Elisa, who is so attached to her mother’s necklace, is willing to give up the land which was her mother’s true gift to her. (Not too mention her boyfriend. ITA with Anon 1:56)
I find it increasingly annoying that our protagonistas continue to be so lacking in any kind of awareness and intelligence. Maybe this is a general theme; the bad guys may know what they are doing, but “purity of heart” triumphs in the end?
I guess I’m annoyed right now (but still love the recaps!).
Anon1:56-And you've already mentioned why I was so frustrated. Elisa and Dam just always seem to cave. They don't put up a fight despite all the yammering about having to "fight" to be together. Sheesh.
Anon207: Yup, the hamsters in Assgu's brain are finally starting to run on the wheel. Let's see how long it takes him to make some connections.
CherylNewMex-yes frustrating, but there were some crumbs the writers gave us: Doc Tovar stands up to Carmina and Sr Cat Food discovers Steffie's jewelry. I suspect the opening scene for tonight we will have to listen to a bunch of frustrating lies. If Assgu falls for them I'm going to throw things at my TV.
Sylvia- I understand the mixed feelings about Horacio and Lola. I can't help but think the writers have something in store for us. They know he's a murderer and I doubt they are going to break the rules in such a way that he doesn't pay for his crimes BUT, they are putting him in a likable role so maybe he will sacrifice to save Lola? (I think this has been suggested before.)
It finally took Alina faking her death to push the issue, which may be why I think Elisa should do this. BTW, Alina was played by Ludwika Paleta, who is Estefania in this series.
Considering we're only at the beginning of the story I'm sure that Orange Crush will figure out a lie. It's too early for her to suffer big enough to satisfy us.
I think we can all agree that Elisa agreeing to the "plan" is ludicrous, but as a plot point it serves it's purposes. Breaks her and Dam Stupid ( love it) up, keeps Flo around, gets Carmina in trouble and Asshat is out of jail. And we all know that down the road it will rear it's ugly head that the debt can't be repaid.
I do like seeing Carmina squirming, II being, well Irritated (with a gratutitous Gab shirtless scene, thanks for that bright spot director), and Gael just blowing his stack at just about everyone. As sad as it was for him to unload on Padre, I get it. This guy has just come off his worst day ever, and I think he was due to implode. Now we need him to compare notes in their "very bad days" with Elisa and see where that leads...as if we don't know.
Why do Horacio and Lolita have to be so cute?
QuiQui and Pal-actually not bad together. ( But please, I loved her braid - it was so lovely and polished- bring it back. Don't like the loose, humidity killing look.)
And Alfi's blow-off of Begona? Sweet, but maybe not so smart? Never pith off the town gossip who also happens to know a few tidbits on you.
My final rant: For the love of all that is holy, if Ramona keeps on with the "when the truth comes out" why doesn't she just TELL PEOPLE all that she knows?
I am happy the the truth about the jewelry has come out to Augusto. I think this it the beginning of him opening his eyes, at least to the possibility the story Carmeany has spun about Stefi is not totally true. Keep digging Augie!
I felt poor Gael's frustration. I thought it interesting that Gab said to Ingrid that Alfie would indeed be capable of having her and Gael killed to keep the truth hidden, but Padre Lupe totally dismissed the idea to Gael that there could be any danger to him and Ingrid. He obviously doesn't believe his sister capable of such a thing. Who do you guys think is right? Gab or Lupe?
Until Elisa herself knows that Augie thinks she isn't his daughter, there's not way for her to make the effort to prove him wrong.
----
And as Anon312 pointed out the land is the true gift from Steffie. I cannot believe how quickly Elisa agreed to this terrible terrible deal. Did it even occur to her that she was pretty much signing her mother's land over to THE PERSON THAT TRASHED HER MOTHER'S REPUTATION?? *grrrrrr*
Horacio and Lola are very cute and that's exactly why I think the writers have something up their sleeves.
I actually like Quique and Paloma together more than Pal and Gael, but right now that may be because Pal can only act pitiful and puppyish around Gael. She is "normal" wit Quique. I would like to see Quieque happy at the end.
Vivi-I wish I could get into Refugio, but two hours and two leads that do nothing for me is working against it.
As for Fina, I'm not sure she's capable of murder. She will manipulate like a big dog, but I can't see her actually planning someone's deat...I *can* however see one of her machinations going horribly awry and someone dying. Her first mistake is making Gab her henchman. I don't think she has any clue what he's capable of.
For Padre, it's his sister and he has a bit of innocence about him that sometimes you want to slap him silly over. He wants to believe the best in people, but hey, Padre, this is a TN. Some folks are never going to have a meet and greet with St. Pete at the pearly gates.
I really feel for you having had to do a recap of such a frustrating episode...
the only hilites were Gael barking at II and at the end Aususto barking at Carmina...
so thank you for turning such a dark ep into a fun snarky read...
daisynjay,
ITA with you on
For Padre, it's his sister and he has a bit of innocence about him that sometimes you want to slap him silly over. He wants to believe the best in people,
also, i think Alfie would not go as far as killing Gael and II unless she had a fail safe way to ensure Dam Stupid would NEVER find out that a) Gael is his half brother and b) Alfie had anything to do with his death..
if Dam Stupid ever found out Alfie had anything to do with the death of his ONLY sibling, she could kiss goodbye any chance of ever even seeing or hearing from Dam Stupid again, and she has a HUGE problem with the concept/idea of spending her last days alone... she is holding on to Dam Stupid as her only lifeline of happiness... she is really scared of ending up alone, that is why she can't even think of the possibility that she has been wrong about Stefie/Elisa all these years...
Not even Loopy's company would be enough for her. She NEEDS Dam Stupid with her.
I think you were reading my mind when you wrote:
"Dam is a little gruff with her [Alfonsina] and she takes offense. She doesn't think it’s right that he be so aggressive with her. Aggressive? Come to my house beech, I’ll show you aggressive. Dam rolls his eyes and hobbles out on his crutches."
Just warning you --- I'm definitely stealing "Dam Stupid" (the words, not the dimwit they describe.)
I can't say I'm bored with this story. It's just that it has morphed from one that had me reaching discreetly for my hankie in the beginning (sniff sniff) into a popcorn and giggle fest eliciting the occasional loud whoop of delight.
Wouldn't it be fun if Kenia decided to follow Ingrid's advice to go for the GoldDamBoy?
"Aggressive? Come to my house beech, I’ll show you aggressive."
Yikes! You convince me.
About the conversation between Doc Tovar and Carmia... I think Carmina told him that Augusto already knows that Elisa is not his daughter from the first test and that she snatched the results of the new DNA testing so that no one else would be hurt by that information. Doc looked puzzled and thus I'm afraid that the can of DNA is kicked further down the calle a ways.
If Elisa was willing to give up Damien, I think that Alfonsina would have settled for that. I don't think there was a need to put her land at risk. Elisa is not a good negotiator.
Carlos
Gael, Lucio and the Doc seem to be the only ones thinking. Can we get someone other than Kenia and Lolita to represent the thinking women?
Yola
Anon207, I recall Fina visiting Begonia. It was the last time she snubbed Begonia but then she needed some info, so she went to B's house to "apologize" for her rudeness.
Urban A, after Duelo some friends of mine got a dog that looked just like Tonki the Wonder Dog (the only smart character in Duelo if you recall) and they named her Tonki. You have a good memory about those Duelo details. There are definitely similarities.
She wouldn't put her land up as collateral for the bank, which would have given her the money to raise the greenhouse & hire the workers, but she will put the land up as collateral with Alfonsina...
---How is she going to pay Alfonsina back, and with what money? Part of the deal was she forget the contract with La Anita, and I'm guessing part of that contract has some of the La Anita workers helping to rebuild the greenhouse. How is she going to put the land up for collateral with a bank when it's now collateral for a loan with Alfonsina?
Elisa not only doesn't trust in Dam Fine, she apparently doesn't trust in Lucio, Padre or Gael either. I realize she has trust issues but Lucio & Gael have always come through for her.
Elisa is stupid and she can sit at home alone with no land and no Dam but at least she can caress Steffy's picture and pearls, right?
So “Horacio” was good in another novela? His character was horrible in Mi Pecado, so he gives me the heeby geebies every time I see him with Lolita. (big smile!)
I’m disappointed that Elisa caved to Señora Checkbook, especially when Augusto showed her the door in an earlier capitulo when she offered to BUY his and Stefe’s land to get rid of Elisa. (That backfired just a teeny weeny bit, she almost lost her son!) I believe I heard Lolita and Elisa say that Stefe would have wanted this, but.......not in my way of thinking!!I I’m at least glad that it is a financia and not an outright sale, we do have the hope of a beautiful fall harvest of habanero chilies, (money from Kenia, ha ha Alfonsina!) ) with all our good guys, toiling away, in short shorts and or shirtless, (which ever appeals to the individual tastes of viewerville!) then racing down to the procesadora with trucks and Amadeus loaded, beating the tar out of ole Alfonsina and her hateful deadline! I want a super big screen TV for that capitulo!
Anon207, I think that Elisa is the victim of unfortunate novela writing!
That was pitiful when Gael went to visit his madre and saw her with her amante, Gabino, buttoning his shirt....Ugggggggg!
Lucio said they already had 30% of the money, and that did not include Lolita's savings or the money they could get for the necklace... but now its too late, she is not letting them work it out.
I know he won't make it out alive, but it's okay -- I'm already married, anyway, so our love is doomed.
ROFLOL!!
BL, you made me giggle/snort hard, but here at the office, since i am completely stuffed up, it sounded more like an old car trying to start... good thing i had no coffee in my mouth at the time.
Loopy is telling him his father was a good man...
No wonder Gael is mad...
I keep my frustration level down by just lightly skimming this TN. Can't abide She of the Cold Marble Forehead, nor Orangina, nor Begonia. Lukewarm on DZ as our Damstupid galan and Elisa our tearful heroine. Love Gael, Padre, Ramona and like some of the other characters ok, but not completely drawn in here.
La Paloma
Cheryl, ITA. Lord, Can we move off of DNA mishaps, the FLO and Dam redux, the brothers Arrango, and my girlfriend Alfonsina winning nearly every round she is in? The Black Widow is outcompeting everyone else in this show and it is irritating me.
I, too, would like a little LOVE.
I do like the Enrique and Paloma friendship. Now THAT was cute.
And, ANON, our protagonists don't seem to have two brain cells to rub together. PAH! I hate "stupid" plots.
EJ
You said:
'I had wondered whether that series was a remake of a really old one or whether Televisa shouldn't have done it as a novela de epoca instead, with a birthmark or something as the final evidence.'
ITA. The TN writers are up against it with technology aren't they? They are walking a very fine line of credibility with cell phones in Abismo by pretending that La Ermita is kind of remote—thus implying poor cell phone coverage. In real life the village is not remote; it is, in fact now a suburb of Merida. This device is only barely credible, with the use of an extra battery pac in one's Emilia-made beanie.
Perhaps with the success of such period series as "Mad Men", 'epocas' could be made that were set in the 1920's-1960's, a time that might be less expensive to costume and fit out than the 18th century swashbucklers, but would still not involve the plot difficulties presented by instant communication.
EJ
Sandy, I'm right there with Vivi. I despised poor Armando after Mi Pecado, then I watched Llena. Now when I see that face, and that smile he flashes Lolita, all I see is Brandon. Bless his hunky, brave little heart. He was a sweetie and won me over big time!
Carlos
So...your title was perfect.
And even though NovelaMaven and Carlos have already mentioned it..."Come to my house beech. I'll show you aggressive" was my favorite line.
The only part of the episode I enjoyed was Begoñia getting the 411 that Alfonsina never ever was an actual friend of hers. Hopefully she'll learn from this and find a way to recuperate her family.
Guess I'm going to be at a table of one concerning Horacio. I didn't like the way he moved in on Lolita for a smash mouth kiss after the novia proposition. And overall, he seems oily and unreliable in this role. (Yes, he was absolutely adorable as Brandon in Llena de Amor) but I think the way the writers are portraying him in this one is crafted to give us the heebie-jeebies. Obviously Lolita is meant to be with Braulio. So this Horacio thingee is all wrong.
(Sorry guys...don't douse me with those Tequila Sunrise drinks...save 'em all for you.)
Rest of the episode...TOTALLY FRUSTRATING. AND I AM SO SICK OF CARMINA WIGGLING OUT OF EVERY CONFRONTATION WITH MORE LIES.
SICK SICK SICK!
Okay. Feeling somewhat better now. But not much.
Still..thanks Sara. You rock, kid.
I do like the Enrique and Paloma friendship. Now THAT was cute.
maybe Gael will spot them when they are chatting and smiling and will get a little bit of a jealous twitch...
The Braulio/Tonia paring vs Lolita is problematic. While Braulio was tricked/forced into the wedding and still loves Lolita, he is MARRIED to Tonia and they have made a go of it. Glad I’m not in charge of that story line!
Yes, if no brain cells materialize soon, all the tables; cenote, Horacio, Augusto, bingo, Kenia, (¿Que? Yes, everyone loves her!) plus all the undecideds will just have to Fast Forward, slowing down just in time for the “el fin” boda or bodas! I’m actually doing this very thing for Telemundo’s, Maid en Manhattan.
Carlos, yes, while I love Father Lupe and Ramona, I can’t help but wish they’d just end our misery and tell everything that they know. Out With It Already!
then again Gael is showing some brain cells here and there so don't be surprised if he figures it out one of these eps and he 'just knows'... would Loopy be able to confirm if Gael just assumes it? guess not... but I would not be surprised... after all there are ONLY SO MANY rich noble folks in town whose 'one more child showing up out of thin air' would put some people's lifes at risk...
and yes, i too like Judy did not like Horacio's move on Lolita that much last night, even though I too LOVED Brandon from llena. but like some of you said, Horacio is NO BRANDON. (other than in the looks dept and even there Horac needs a trim and bath)
How utterly ludicrous that she would keep the pearls but "mortgage" the land her Mother left her. The land is a tangible asset that could be left to Stef's grandchildren ++.
I know Elisa is needy and attached to her Dad like a limpet but would she really dump her erstwhile bridegroom, whom her dad shot at the wedding before vows could be said, without even having a conversation with him? Now that is cold. Cold and stupid. Cold and stupid and unnatural.
I am not feeling very charitible toward Elisa today.
EJ
I dearly wish that producers would commit themselves to an appropriate period for a production. It really bothered me that Telemundo's otherwise excellent Dona Barbara broke that rule in so many ways.
FELS should have been a novela de epoca; it was only a few steps away from it. There were times when I actually wondered whether anyone had electricity (except for the cash register in the bakery and the medical scenes) and you never saw a telephone. So many minor actions made no sense because nobody seemed to care about whether it did. I kept watching it for the cast.
The 1920s would be a cool one for a change of pace and could probably cast actors who don't otherwise fit novelas de epoca.
Amiga, you have me reaching for a box of Kleenex. I am so sad at your doomed love story with the gravelly voiced H.
Somehow, as an arsonist, I think he'll get a chance to go out with a big BANG! and to save Lolita and probably Elisa and maybe Damian too. I don't know the math on how many folks you have to save, along with complete repentance, to redeem yourself in a telenovela, but I am sure the more is more.
Vivi:
Gabs is right, no? As Marta said, Lupe has rose-colored glasses where his sister is concerned. Our Black widow doesn't even know how dangerous she is as she always farms out the dirty work to Gabino.
EJ
Alpha-bitches "deal" was laughable it was so weak. She offers the exact cost of the defense THAT SHE IS MOUNTING against Elisa's father (how 'bout dropping the charges?!). She makes Elisa give up the love of her life, she asks for the mortgage to Elisa's lands AND she cancels her contract?! QTH? And Elisa, our spunky heroine folds like a house of cards.
And Elisa, didn't you just swear to your father in a court of law when he shot your groom at the boda, that you would NEVER forgive him? At least not until the next episode where you sacrifice your groom, your land, your livelihood, not to mention your PRIDE for your horrible father.
Did anyone else think it was weird when Lola and Elisa were waiting, gleefully at home for Augusto to return? He has treated BOTH of them shamefully. Yet they stood at the door giggling like a couple of schoolgirls. They need to get some therapy for abused women and not enable Ass-gusto any more.
Sara, your title said it all!
Katy
she only told Lolita giving up Dam was part of the deal. and i think she might have told Paloma too.
Armando Araiza was indeed detestable in Mi Pecado, but he was even worse in Contra Viento y Marea (I think it was the 2nd novela I ever watched....it was really stupid and crazy!)
Karamy
I also HATE it when sappy, idiotic heroines "nobly" hold back the full truth.
Marta is right that she didn't tell Lucio she gave up rights to DamnStupid as well.
Gag me with a spoon!
I'm mad at everybody right now, including Padre Loopy.
Why the rush to get him out? He's abused Elisa forever, mismanaged the farm, SHOT Damian...seems like it would be really handy for Elisa to have Augusto stashed in jail, out of the way, so she can run things and get the family business in order. Why does our heroine have to be such a pushover idiot? At the very least she should have put a lot of conditions on bailing him out.
And now she's basically giving Stefi's land to Alfie. GRRRR. Surely there's SOMETHING in that house she could sell, instead. Heck, strip the copper wiring out of the walls and sit around in the dark for a few years, rather than give in to Alfie.
I expect a huge and justified fit from Damian when he finds out how easily she sold him out.
So Gael knows that his father was a prominant man in town who died sometime between when Gael was conceived and "a long time ago" and he also knows he and Damian have the same rare blood type...think, man, think. Even without the blood type, one would think this would be easily narrowed down by talking with the local longtime gossips.
Either that, and he's not in the best of moods, I would like Gael march over to Dam and tell him what happened since he's involved in the project and soon to know the gory details ( and give Mama a piece of his mind like he did everyone else yesterday.)
The only thing that could possibly explain this is Elisa's hope that she could win her father's love this way. Highly unlikely and it wouldn't be worth the 15 years of misery he and Orangina have made her suffer. Or not having Damian.
SARA - Thank you for this recap of Monday's episode. The brief bullet style is just right for me, since I'm just now getting home and on the computer. They were fired spot-on- target out of your handy dandy recap gun, and ka-pow!
A very frustrating episode, indeed. Elisa is the poster child for either Co-Dependents Anonymous or Co-Dependents R Us, or one of those self-help groups. After the get-up she wore to the bank (to apply for a loan), I knew she had fluff for brains.
I wonder if Paloma and Enrique might end up together … that scene with them was very comfy cozy…
Interesting that Begonia has lost her family, all for her addiction to her one-sided friendship with Alfonsina. 'Alfonsina needs me!' And last night, Alfie says, "I have my own problems (so yours are not at all important to me)". Wake up Begonia and smell the coffee.
daisynjay - I'm with you about Ramona's "the truth will come out one day." Yeah, but maybe not in anyone's lifetime. Gah!!! THAT is the one thing that I wanted to throw something at the writers about in last night's episode.
Didn't Alfonsina tell Gabino to 'get rid of Ingrid', or get her out of town? Not a direct hit order, but it could have been interpreted in many ways since the method (or manner) was left up to Gabino. This leaves room for a murder down the road, indirectly ordered by Alfonsina.
"I think that Elisa is the victim of unfortunate novela writing!" I so totally agree, Sandy!
JudyB - I'll sit at your anti-Horacio table with you . I have never watched this actor before, so I have no feelings about him or loyalty from other telenovelas. The character of Horacio definitely creeps me out. I was totally grossed out when he kissed Lola.
On the other hand, I cannot see how Braulio and Lola would get together in the end, unless Tonia's boobs explode and she dies from it.
If Ingrid is in town to cash in on Gael's father by blackmailing Alfonsina, why doesn’t she tell Gael? Or is she that much of a coward?
UA - nothing Mejía makes will ever make sense. Watching FELS, one had to imagine their brain as a pear half floating in red jello . . .
Además, yo no creo que él haya sabido de tu existencia."
"Besides, I don't believe that your father would have even known of your existence."
We know this is not true.
Padre, Padre, Padre...
Carlos
Gah! Accept my apologies, everyone.
I bet you are doing something worthwhile with your spare time—are you, perhaps taking in strays from the local telenovela Rat Rescue Society? We haven't seen any of the chubby little fellows even once over her on Abismo. So sad, they had full employment contracts on Cuando. Or perhaps you are just catching some rays on the sunny beaches of Seattle. After teh horribly long run of Pancho and Family you certainly deserve a day on the beach. If you are not too tied up with your activities in the Great Northwest, come on over and join us by the cement cenote. I see a table with your name on it and Carlos is pouring some tall tequila shots.
Could not agree with you more about Elisa getting a bad case of the stupids. And she was such a cute and promising little girl.
So glad you are joining us at the Passion Pit, Julia, where all TN love is currently going to die.
EJ, still mad at Elisa
