Refugio Para el Amor #17-18 Wed 6/6/12 Ezra goes comatose while blogging and you're going to have to fill in the blanks

Luciana has been enjoying her day off! She calls home. Her mom is worried, but she assures her that she knows a good lawyer (Linares?).

Frigida is, well, frigid to the girl when she gets back in.

Who's this dude who brings them the cake?

Mean mom finds out Luci is just 19. That's actually believable.

Rod has a gift for her, the fiancee dares her to hug him. He accuses her of jealousy. She is still a bitch.

Evil mom gets a headache. Uh-oh.

Aldo, the cousin who got so drunk, has now lost his truck. But a cop helpfully informs him that it got towed because it was in an illegal zone.

The mistress is freaking out, about being in the wife's house doing her nails.

Jana gives Luci a big hug when she returns. By the way, the present was from Pat.

ya volvio la "patrona." Frigida is a jerk, but Luci just wants to see her present. There's some kind of jewelry in it, and the lame theme plays.

Rosalena and Max fight. Her headache is worse. She met up with Claudio Linares, who is out of jail. Yikes, she's eaten up by regrets over what happens. She screams at Max... it was HIS FAULT! breakdown. Flashback to "HIS FAULT" - some game of dice and beer.

July (Gala's mom) and this other weird lady have a boring conversation. They decide to go shopping in Miami.

The nicer maid warns Luci how dangerous the necklace is. She wears it anyway, but tells frigida she doesn't know where she got it. Frigida gets a twitch.

Mom finally takes an interest in Luci. She knows something about her Dad.

When the boss leaves, Frigida goes a-snooping, investigating Luci's stuff for the origin of the necklace. I think she's gonna steal the cell phone.

But the real danger comes from Gala - she wrecks the letters, flushes the necklace, and makes some threats. Luci gets in one good line: having respect for others is worth more than all your fortunes.

She's sobbing and frigida comes in and says "that's what you get when you mess with me."

Gala's mom congratulates her on handling the "situation."They're chuckling together.

The lawyer has news for Luci: she is completely acquitted!

Back in Indianville, Paz has a bad feeling - she knows her daughter is hurting. Oh noes, this kid is so awful.

Violeta just got dumped.

Pat's parents come to yell at him for giving the servant a day off. Seriously?

An MRI for Pat. Haha the novela set includes a very accurate MRI.

Oddly, she's saying her pueblo is in the north, despite having mentioned a bus to Chiapas.

Rod sees the necklace is gone. Awkwardness ensues.

Pat gets carted straight to the hospital. Rod gives him a pep talk, and Pat admits that he is in love.

The kindly lawyer has taken Luci out for Lunch, and she gives him the story. He realizes that she loves Pat, but she realizes that she loves Rod. I'm totally unconvinced.

Evil mom goes to padre to try and get the Luciana away.

Haha, the designer is here, and Rod "yes, dear"s her. This show really puts me to sleep. I found myself nodding in and out.

Now for our silly/cuddly clown of a villain. I'm so amused that I forgot what he said.

I'm taking over for a minute while Ezra eats his dinner.

Pat looks happy, he's full of hope. He tells the padre he can never hope to love or be loved. However, if he can't recover completely, he prefers to die.

The awful ice-cold parents look at each other with desprecio. I came into this too briefly to know what's going on. "Claudio lost and I won," Max says. [Claudio either could now take all their good stuff away or perhaps that was in the past.] Him: "You were always jealous of Aurora." Her: "And you were always jealous of Claudio."

Rod and Gala walk along, Luciana and her lawyer see them. He's jealous - who is that man she's with? They continue talking in the car and he asks her how the family she's working for treats her. She says the kids are great but the mom, Rosalene is - a little - odd. Roselene Torreslanda. Finally he knows who she works for - and he shows shock and horror.

Gala bribes Brigida with a new pocketbook. "You deserve it for loyalty to ME and for all the future spying you will do for ME."

After the commercial the lawyer leaps out of the car with tears in his eyes. Max ruined his life.

Here Ezra began again. But he didn't finish exactly ...

Linares continues telling Luci: "Max accused me of fraud and I went to the jail for 20 years. It was very bad for my wife and daughter. I'm worried that his kids are just as bad. He was my friend, then stabbed me in the back." Oddly, Linares remembers the wife as a good woman. Luciana reassures him that the sons are nicer than their dad. She and the lawyer hug.

The padre tells Roselena it's a bad idea to try and convince Pat to abandon the woman who gives him ganas de vivir. She looks as thoughtful as you can with a frozen face.

Pat's finger is working better: he can write again! Well, he can make two marks with a magic marker.

Back in "het het," the conniving goofballs (Aquiles and his sidekick) have a plan - they'll follow Lorenzo, Luci's brother, when he goes to the city and surely seeks her out. Aquiles grabs Archie and fails to get any information out of him.

No one will tell Luci what the mystery about the lawyer is.

There is a silly montage.with club music.

FINALLY! Pat can work a remote control! Maybe he can change the channel and we'll be done with this nonsense! But actually, Jana brings in a motorized wheelchair with a big bow on it. He says that, wheelie or no, he won't attend the big super special party. They beg, and then he says he'll go, but only if Luciana goes with him! Gasp! Frigida, now on the payroll of Gala, eagerly listens in. She calls Gala and tells her the bad news is, Luciana is invited to the party, the good news is, she doesn't have anything but crummy peasant clothes to wear.

Gala, preening and preening, plans for her grand night and says no photos will be allowed of anyone but her and Rod. She wants to be the center of attention AS ALWAYS.

Luciana finds a mysterious pink satin strapless dress and 5" heels. She looks up and happily thanks her virgencita (would the virgencita approve of this outfit?). Cinderella city!

Comments:
Ezra, wow this is pretty good for being comatose lol. Actually Gala is the one that ripped the necklace off of Luci's neck and flushed it down the toilet, so horrid of her! The necklace she got from Hot Rod, the book(it wasn't letters) was from Pato. I am really glad that Pato sticks up for Luci every chance he gets.

I like Claudio Linares he is so sweet to Luci and we just know that he is Luci's bio father.

I like how Oscar gave it to both Rosa and Gala about Luci and how Pato is recovering because of her.

So Frigid is benefiting. I can't wait until Rod finds out exactly how that necklace went missing and how that book got all torn up. It will be awhile though before he finds out.

Rosa sure is riddled with guilt over Aurora and Claudio. I think she really feels guilt. Now Max I think is dirty. I think now,he caused the fraud and let Claudio take the blame for it.

I wonder who got Luci the dress for the anniversary of the business party, I bet it was Hanna and Melissa, they are so sweet to Luci. Of course from the advances, Frigid causes more problems. I am glad Pato insisted she go with him to this party. Gala can't win all the time. Can't stand her.

I love the duel between Don Aquiles and Ariche. It is too funny how that sweet little tiny boy, bests Don Aquiles evertime. Love that. lol.

I love the fact that Pato at least can move his fingers. Hopefully he'll be able to move as this TN goes along.

Thanks, Ezra.

Where in the world do the Galas, Florencias, and Sinthias get the idea they have any class? They are the most pathetically insecure female dogs I've ever seen. This was 6th grade stuff and Gala has no shame at all.

Frigida is all the worse because she is old enough to know better. Rod the Bod is going to be furious with her when he finds out her complicity in this.

The martyrdom of Luciana not talking about this abuse is tiresome. I still don't know if I will stick with this one, especially at 2 hours.

Thanks for your efforts Ezra and Melinama, and thanks Madelaine for adding a few more details.

Madelaine, I was laughing through the whole Aquiles-Ariche scence, especially when Ariche stalks off at the end and turns to look at Aquiles, holding his flute like a tough cowboy holding his gun. It looked like a western duel. LOL! Aquiles was also very impressed by the little guy's macho attitude. But since Paz didn't accept the property back, Ariche has no obligation to give Aquiles that address. Now that Luci has asked Claudio to work on that case, I'm sure her family will have the land and house back soon.

So now we know that Claudio thinks his daughter was stillborn. He thinks Rosalena was helping Aurora through his imprisonment and her pregnancy. He puts the blame for his wrongful imprisonment soley on Max and thinks Rosa is totally innocent. I notice that her great feelings of guilt didn't result in Rosa telling Claudio that he daughter was not stillborn.

What we see from last night, is that Max and Rosa were both in on the frame Claudio plot. Although Rosa didn't do anything, she seems to have known what Max was up to, and did nothing to help Claudio. Max didn't confirm or deny that he impregnanted Aurora, but it's clear that he loved her.

Both Rosa and Max were questioning Luci a lot about her family and where she comes from, trying to figure out if/how she could be related to Aurora. The fact that she's from way north near Chihuahua (not Chiapas), and was raised with a mom and dad and brother, seems to throw them off. Notice that Max was never around for the talk of Luci's birthday. I think he would have figured it out had he known.

Rod is really starting to bug me. He gets in a jealous snit when he sees Luci in a car with a man, on her day off. He gets in a snit when he sees she's not wearing the inappropriate jewelry he gave her, but he doesn't notice the red scratch marks on her chest, right where the necklace would be. Stop being so self-centered dude!

It seems like it's finally getting through Pato's head that he needs to recover because he wants to, not because his family wants him to, or only because Luci is there. But he still needs to accept that he may never be what he was before. I think that was an anvil warning when he was so inflexible about all or nothing. Either he's walking again, or he doesn't want to live. I think he better get used to that chair and be grateful that one of his hands has progressed enough for him to steer the chair.

Urban- Claudio felt the same way you do. He was shocked that the Luci he knows, and we've seen so far, would let herself be treated in such a way. I hope he takes her advice and leaves. Before she had no problem leaving and telling people off. Now she's using two excuses for taking the abuse-- Pato and Rod.

Pato- Luci needs to be honest with him and tell him that he can't depend on her as his only reason for recovery. I think he's turned that corner, so I think she could leave him now without too many ill effects.

Rod- Like Claudio says, she needs to respect herself and not accept the role as the other woman (the woman of the small house). Rod has NOTHING to offer her while he's engaged/married to another woman. Is she going to put her life/hopes/dreams on hold for a guy like that? These were all Claudio's words. I was just saying amen the entire time.

Time for Luci to leave that house and leave crazy Gala, Frigida and Rosa, and possesive Rod. But not before telling them all off!

Sorry, typo. "I hope she (Luci) takes his (Claudio's) advice.."

Urban so agree with you about the bad females. They seem to all be alike. I guess they think their privilege gives them power to do whatever they want, to whomever they want. It's pathetic.

Vivi-that's exactly what I thought about Don A and Ariche lol. It looked like a scene from High Noon, lol. I too think that Claudio will help Luci's family get back their lands and house. Don A is really noone, as you stated, outside of Het Het even though he thinks he is lol.

I liked Claudio's talk with Luci too. Now he is worried about her, especially now he knows she is working for the Torreslandas. I think he will keep a good eye on her. I agree too about Pato. He should want to get better for himself and not for anyone else. I hate the fact, he feels he wants to die if he doesn't walk again. I too think he should be happy he has progressed this far from his accident. He's young and I guess he feels he is not progressing fast enough.

Ezra--Thank you. Can't wait to see what happens when you are not comatose or nodding off. Since it's still early in the game, lots of things keep happening. At least here we have a little better editing and each of the scenes are a little longer. I especially appreciate that we are getting filled in on the true backstories right up front. They aren't going to make us wait until 3/4 of the way through to make the great reveal. These characters are going to start putting two and three together pretty soon.

A few aclaraciones--The gift bag Luci digs into from Rod--She pulls the book out first, with a card from Pato. Then she pulls out the jewelry box--I don't think it had a card, but for some reason she knows it's from Rod. IMHO it was a very inappropriate birthday gift from a guy who can give her nothing but trouble. He should have stuck to candles or soap...

Matilde (the nice maid) agrees with me, it was not an appropriate gift. What is Luci going to tell people when they ask her where she got it. Luci is a bit tongue tied. Mati suggests she just says it's been mine for a long time. When Frigida asks her, I think she basically gave her that story--it's mine.

In the funny scene between July and Connie they are talking about needing to get new dresses for the upcoming wedding, for which no date has been set. They decide that if the wedding is later, they'll go shopping in New York, if it is sooner, they'll go shopping in Miami. When Connie finds out later it's in a couple of weeks, she states she'll just have to go shopping in DF.

Aquiles and his shadow are rubbing their hands together on how smart they are. Aquiles has been letting Lorenzo win at the gambling tables, being sure he'll use his winnings to go to DF to see Luci. Sure enough, Lorenzo tells his mama and Magda goodbye and he's out the door.

Who dumped Violeta? Did she have a boyfriend I didn't know about?

In the avances, it looks like we will have a scene lifted right out of Eva Luna. I think Harry Geithner (Francisco the Chauffeur) conferred on this scene--complete with the scheme to destroy the dress so Luci can't go to the ball and someone steps in with a substitute so she can go to the ball, surely making Gala furious. It should be fun even if it is deja vu all over again.

Ezra: I thought this was great fun. Thank you for doing this!I laughed at "Frigida is, well, frigid to the girl when she gets back in". So true!

I've been watching this but haven't been able to read the recaps. I'm really enjoying this - I really like Zuria and think she's the perfect choice for this role. And Soto is well...sigh. He has an air of believability and I always enjoy watching him.

Vivi, appreciate all of your comments as you shed light on so many of my questions (again not having read the recaps, I'm missing much of this). And Luci is selling herself short. Rod needs to dump the rancid financee and declare himself openly for Luci.

Thanks so much Ezra. I hope I'm able to read more of the recaps - this was a real treat.

Anita- Violeta didn't break up with anyone. Ezra must have imagined it as he was dozing off. LOL! I do recall her being ticked off about what Don Aquiles has done to Luci's family and itching for a fight is he dares show his face in D.F.

ITA about the inappropriateness of Rod's present Anita.

Diana- Also ITA about Rod needing to dump Gala.

For all the other dysfunctions in the Torreslanda home, I continue to be impressed by how well they have dealt with Pato's paralysis and depression. Usually, tn families get a huge FAIL in the way they react to these situations. Even Rosa is being fairly reasonable and understanding of Pato's needs. They don't let him wallow in self pity. They treat him the same as evryone else. They keep his spirits up. They still highly value the contributions he makes to the family and the family business. Good job Torreslandas! Now continue on with your other dysfunctions.

I missed most of yesterday's episode so thank you for the recap. Great comments too.

I am watching this more or less online instead of on TV, bits and pieces not the entire thing.

All I have to say is I feel more chemistry with Pato and Luci. Of course they will never get together, but here's hoping and daydreaming about it. Pato is the younger brother, but he comes across as the older more mature one. Anyway, I do hope Pato ends up with someone, he just simply seems to be adorable.

Laura Flores is good, but I seem to keep switching her face with Daniela Castro, I think this role would have been perfect for her.

Nellie, I so agree with that. After Mi Pecado I can so see Daniela Castro as this kind of controlling mother.
