Abismo de pasión #93 7/23/12: No Exit
Flor arrives at Doc Tovar's office to pick up the results of some tests. Pal tells her no results from Mérida have arrived. Flor talks about flowers for her upcoming wedding and Pal tells her not to play the victory march just yet. Flor says Dam's little sister Elisa will be sure to get an invite. Pal makes a crack about how behind Flor is in the latest happenings of La Ermita, but won't explain herself. Flor makes a dig that Quique is only flirting with Pal because he can't have Flor.
Doc and Fina snipe at each other about Be-gone-ya, Carmina and Fina's loose lips. They get around to the test results in his office. They go to get them and encounter....
Girl Fight!!! They pull Pal and Flor apart. Order is restored and Doc hands overDam's life sentence the results to Fina. Fina is thrilled. She wants to get these to Dam ASAP.
Dam finds out that Elisa caught him nekkid and sleeping with Flor a few days back. Elisa blames herself. Dam explains he was drunk and miserable and had to find a way to get Elisa out of his heart. Elisa talks about50+ episodes left consequences for every action. Dam wants them to start a new life together. Elisa thinks that's unfair to Flor. Dam says he doesn't love Flor and that Elisa needs to get away from the house of painful memories. Elisa agrees to go away with Dam.
Carmina goes to Horacio's House o' Meat. He tells her someone knows he had something to do with Blanca's death AND someone saw them leaving the night of Augusto's death.
Padre Lupe goes to see Ramona. He wants her to tell Elisa what she told Augusto the day he died. She is not saying a word about it ever again. Padre wonders what if Augusto didn't kill himself and he died other way? Ramona asks "other way?" Padre says that's what he's trying to figure out. Ramona wants to know why he doesn't tell what he knows. Ramona remarks that's it's easier for him if someone else gets their hands dirty. She ain't talking.
Sabrina nags Paolo about marrying her. He sees Carmina and drools. Sabrina tells him it was Carmina's recommendation that got mommy to let Sabrina date him.
Dam packs Elisa's things. Elisa doesn't want to leave yet. She still needs to say goodbye to Lolita and take care of the greenhouse and find out what's going to happen to the hacienda and Cielo Abierto. Dam asks about her dad having a will or not. She doesn't know. She begs for a couple of days to get things arranged. Dam won't wait. Lolita catches Carmina listening at the door. Later Lolita comes in and there is a llorafest. Elisa tells her she can't stay and get all crazy and bitter like her aunt. Lolita agrees and helps them pack. Lolita makes Dam promise to always take her of "her niña". Elisa makes Lolita promise to leave the hacienda, too.
Chente recovers at the hospital. Chente asks if Gab was worried about him. Braulio lies and tells him Gab came to see him. Chente tells Braulio he doesn't care for him one whit. Brau goes to Tonia and tells her he is leaving. Raise a glass, everyone!
Gabino is being all Eddie Haskell with the little old lady owner of the hacienda he wants to buy. They will settle everything in a couple of days when the certified check comes in. But until then, does his little chula reina mind keeping her little chula boca closed?
Flor wants Fina to uphold her end of the bargain. Flor wants Gweedo out of jail ASAP. Fina says Dad will be released, but first she wants to clear the Landucci name so the town doesn't think Dam is marrying the daughter of a thief. Alone, Fina gushes about HER nieto when she in interrupted by a phone call. She looks pithed.
Horacio remembers Padre Lupe's words about confession. Lolita comes in crying. He comforts her. They can run their business and start a family. Lolita thanks him for his love and support.
Paolo primps and Flor enters. She tells him not to mess up their plans and their future. He notices the bruises and she tells him about her fight with Paloma. Paolo warns that Flor's feelings for Quique are dangerous to their plan too. She better not screw up, either.
Dam and Elisa are almost out the door when Carmina stops them. It seems she was the phone call to Fina, who has arrived at the hacienda. Dam tells her not to waste her time. Nothing will stop him from being with Elisa. Fina gives a speech about a parent's love and sacrifice and hands Dam the results of "Florencia Landucci's" pregnancy test. Fina guilt trips. "You would leave your child? Abandon him like your father abandoned you?" "Elisa, you would allow that?" Dam still won't give up Elisa. He thinks he and Elisa need to discuss it and Fina can butt out. Dam and Elisa retire to Augusto's office and Fina snipes that Carmina looks good in black.
Elisa yells and cries about consequences. She loves him but they are never going to be happy. She tells him to go with Flor and be with his child. The can't make the same mistakes as their parents. Dam refuses, but Elisa tells him that she is putting an end to things. They are over. His mom and Flor are no longer the obstacles. Elisa herself is going to oppose them being together.

So this has to be the absolute pits of the pits, right? When the baddies are all ahead, the AlfaBitch and the Rotten Citrus have teamed up, Ramona has clammed up and Elisa has given up?
And the estúpida de Florencia pulls the same fake pregnancy trick AGAIN and no one questions her? First she stole Kenia's pee, then she purloins Sabrina's blood ... I shudder to think what bodily fluid she'll go after next and from whom.
Even the writers can't bear looking ahead -- they are giving us "previews" that are "re-views" of what we just saw.
We knew those so often packed and unpacked bags of Elisa's weren't going anywhere. No one gets out of the quinta alive.

I did get a kick out of Gab sweet talking that little old lady into selling him her hacienda, ever resorting to fanning her! LOL! That was the best part of the episode.
I didn't even enjoy the cat fight between Flor and Pal because of 1) the baby anvil, and 2) I kept thinking that Pal was being totally unprofessional starting a stupid cat fight in her place of work and was finally going to get her butt fired. Doc Tovar is WAY nicer than I am.

But it WAS kind of fun when Paolo looked at the scratches on Flor's arm and suggested she must be doing SOMETHING to provoke the denizens of La Ermita to violence -- she can't leave the hacienda without someone trying to wipe the smirk off her face.

We learned Horacio must have a "Vienna Sausage" since Lolita is more worried and anxious about Elisa than him.
We learned Sabrina is most possibly the stupidest person in La Ermita.
Dam Upset learned he will be shackled to Florencia for life.
Damian learned Elisa would rather cry and play the victim than be with him.
We also learned either Carmina is the 2nd stupidest person in La Ermita or the most cruelest, since Elisa running away with Damian would have gotten rid of Elisa for good.
We also learned Paolo is still drooling after Carmina.

This episode was the pits except for Braulio confronting Antonia. That was long overdue. And the boy is his true father's child. As usual.

Morning Sara! What a great recap to start the day. Not sure why, but there was a bunch of the episode I just couldn't get interested in...mainly the Dam/Elisa stuff. I mean, you know there would be "No Exit". (Perfect! Sort of harkened a little Satre for me. Not stuck in a room, just stuck in La Ermita.)
Why did that little snot have to live another day? Wanted to wipe that stupid smile right from his face. Watch, Tonia will be the one to get the anvil, Gab won't have anything to do with said snot, and poor Braulio will be stuck with that ingrate. But for now, we can cheer that he's TRYING to make an exit.
I agree, Vivi. The Gab scene was priceless. Cutest little suck up. Bet I'm still betting that he isn't going to get that house--keep remembering Dam saying he doesn't want to live with his mother, so....
I'm sorry, but can they stop making Pal the high school whiny bully. Frankly, I was expecting the Doc to have to fire her on the spot. That whole girl fight in a professional office--just stoopid. I can get into a good slap, but have never gotten into the hair pulling, girl fight type confrontation.
Now that Elisa has made up her mind, well at least for now, and we knew she would do this with this very tired plot line, can we please cut the crying and get her moving on working the greenhouse,etc. I'm sure Gael is taking care of everything, but dang, it's her property and she should now jump into working it with a vengeance. (And she'll probably snatch up Gael as well, but I think we knew that was coming too---I know he led Pal on, hate you writers, but I'm not loving that he'll be a dumpee either.)

Thanks, Sara! Brilliant as usual. I came in halfway through the epi -- I'm going to start DVRing it again now that Amorcito is going back to an hour -- and was pleasantly (re)surprised. Dumb plot, yes, but good acting! Braulio was superb.
I had trouble suspending my disbelief for the Gabino/Chula Vieja scene, though. I mean, c'mon, the guy is banged-up, filthy, and bandanahanded -- how could a nice old lady fall for that? Maybe her eyesight is going, but surely he *smells*...? (Sorry, Cynderella. But maybe you like that.)

Thought it was interesting Lolita cried that Elisa would leave her all alone. What about her husband? Although she tried to make amends, Horacio will always be a distant second. But, wasn't that the case with Braulio? Lolita will always put Elisa first.
I wanted to reach into Chente and rip out that donated kidney. A waste of a perfectly good organ. He does not begin to deserve it. How could he be so cruel to Braulio?
I think I am alone though in that I feel very sorry for Tonia. Yes, she should have told Braulio long ago but here she is, one kidney down, left to deal with her reprehensible spawn all alone.

Paloma, every time i see her getting all loud and irate, i think more and more that Quique is a better match for her than Gael. Gael also has a short fuse, to put it mildly... Quique would provide a better grounding for her, IMO.
Btw, i totally missed last night's ep since my daughter begged me that we watch the 1000th ep of WWE RAW... that was fun, and from the recap i can see i didn't miss much fun although i would have loved to watch the cat fight between those two. speaking of those two,
1. wouldn't Paloma be very suspicious about a second 'timely pregnancy announcement' from Flo to separate Dam and Elisa? I am ok i guess in Doctor Tovar 'accepting' the results if they have Flo's name in them. but at least i would have a little crack of doubt if i were Paloma.
2. Carlos, are the labs that stupid to not require any kind of ID on a patient before they plant a name on a lab blood sample?

Novela Maven- I did notice all of Carmeany's fake expressions of concern. LOL! Who's she trying to fool anyway? Everyone in that room knows she hates Elisa.

I, for once, am not unhappy about Flor pulling the fake pregnancy bit again. Alfonsina deserves this. She is keeping Guido in jail until Flor gets pregnant by Dam? That's insane! Dam Stoopid seems to think it was perfectly understandable that he would have immediately flopped into the sack with Flo, "oh, I was drunk, I had to drown my sorrows". Pure Bull Hockey. What would he have done if she turned around and said the same thing? Hmmmmm?

Lolita said Elisa needed her but Braulio said he needed her too and asked her to stay. And she did! She would never do that for Horacio, thus proving to me that Braulio is her true love.

Novela, I think Alfie and "Carminative" (letting my phone have its way) are tied for NÚMERO UNO. Alfie for choosing Flo who would move Dam out of La Ermita so dam quick after the boda and "Carminative" (phone on a roll) for the same reason....Elisa was walking out of her life and she stopped her! You have to be stoooopid to work so hard to destroy your own life!

Carminative does appear STOOPID for stopping Elisa. But what does Carmi live for? All she does is torment others. With Augusto gone she is left with only Elisa. Maybe Carmina needs Elisa around for the sport of it. Good grief what a dysfunctional family. And yes, her facial expressions in that scene were classic. Wow, Elisa really belongs in a special place on the STOOPIDTY list. She falls for the same old tricks every single time.

Agree, Sylvia...Carmina's main desire has always been to make Elisa miserable. That seemed to be an even greater desire than "winning Augusto's love" (something I always found had to believe and harder to understand anyway.)So yeah, Elisa has to stay...and suffer suffer suffer!
Enjoyed watching this, being on the lookout, thanks to the comments, for Doc Tovar casually brushing aside the invading fern, Gabino's incredible sliming all over the old lady (who was lovin' it)and Carmina's fake oh dear me expressions. Still, just as Padre Lupe's diatribe was the wrong time and place at Augusto's funeral, I think Braulio's exit, while his wife is still suffering post-surgery agony, was...well, a little bit precipitous. But I guess we know, Menfolk in these telenovelas do tend to act first, think later. (Are you listening Damian?)
Enjoyed watching this, being on the lookout, thanks to the comments, for Doc Tovar casually brushing aside the invading fern, Gabino's incredible sliming all over the old lady (who was lovin' it)and Carmina's fake oh dear me expressions. If so, how the hay-ride (Marta, I've used that like 10 times!!!) does Alfie know that Doc and Carmeany hooked up??? I certainly could have misunderstood this scene.
And isn't Flo awfully smug considering she's lying to EVERYONE and she has yet to a) fake a pregnancy for 9 months b) steal someone's baby c) pass it off as hers and not get sent to prison in the process? I think I'd be a little more nervous quite frankly!!!

Sandy, Thanks for sticking by me here at the Augusto table with our esposos. Supporting Augusto was a bit like defending the Alamo... a hopeless yet noble cause. The Alamo certainly, I'm afraid that many here might disagree about Augusto.
I really had much higher hopes for the shaggy one. I still believe that the loyalty of his friends and the undying love of his daughter made him worthy of redemption. I still think that he is one of the most tragic TN characters ever.

Fina found out from Paloma when she accidentally blabbed about being blamed for Carmina. The broken plates remark Fina was the one who told Assgusto about Carmina and Edmundo.

Carlos, thanks for bringing out the good stuff for our last toast to the "shaggy one." Yes, Augusto was a "hopeless yet nobel" cause. Also, I so agree, "he is one of the most tragic TN characters ever." I'm left wishing that I could see the original, "Cañaveral de Pasiones," I think I'll buy the DVD, perhaps his character was better understood in the original.

Newsflash! Elisa shops at Target! Yes, I just saw her, extremely short shorts, cowboy boots, tank top with maximum boobage, crochet vest. Did I take a picture? Unfortunately no. She caught me gawking at her and I was afraid security would toss me out if I chased after her with my phone. By the way, she's got a kid about 4 yrs old that she's been hiding from us.
