Abismo de pasión #93 7/23/12: No Exit

Flor arrives at Doc Tovar's office to pick up the results of some tests. Pal tells her no results from Mérida have arrived. Flor talks about flowers for her upcoming wedding and Pal tells her not to play the victory march just yet. Flor says Dam's little sister Elisa will be sure to get an invite. Pal makes a crack about how behind Flor is in the latest happenings of La Ermita, but won't explain herself. Flor makes a dig that Quique is only flirting with Pal because he can't have Flor.

Doc and Fina snipe at each other about Be-gone-ya, Carmina and Fina's loose lips. They get around to the test results in his office. They go to get them and encounter....

Girl Fight!!! They pull Pal and Flor apart. Order is restored and Doc hands over Dam's life sentence the results to Fina. Fina is thrilled. She wants to get these to Dam ASAP.

Dam finds out that Elisa caught him nekkid and sleeping with Flor a few days back. Elisa blames herself. Dam explains he was drunk and miserable and had to find a way to get Elisa out of his heart. Elisa talks about  50+ episodes left consequences for every action. Dam wants them to start a new life together. Elisa thinks that's unfair to Flor. Dam says he doesn't love Flor and that Elisa needs to get away from the house of painful memories. Elisa agrees to go away with Dam.

Carmina goes to Horacio's House o' Meat. He tells her someone knows he had something to do with Blanca's death AND someone saw them leaving the night of Augusto's death.

Padre Lupe goes to see Ramona. He wants her to tell Elisa what she told Augusto the day he died. She is not saying a word about it ever again. Padre wonders what if Augusto didn't kill himself and he died other way? Ramona asks "other way?"  Padre says that's what he's trying to figure out. Ramona wants to know why he doesn't tell what he knows.  Ramona remarks that's it's easier for him if someone else gets their hands dirty. She ain't talking.

Sabrina nags Paolo about marrying her. He sees Carmina and drools. Sabrina tells him it was Carmina's recommendation that got mommy to let Sabrina date him.

Dam packs Elisa's things.  Elisa doesn't want to leave yet. She still needs to say goodbye to Lolita and take care of the greenhouse and find out what's going to happen to the hacienda and Cielo Abierto. Dam asks about her dad having a will or not. She doesn't know. She begs for a couple of days to get things arranged. Dam won't wait. Lolita catches Carmina listening at the door. Later Lolita comes in and there is a llorafest. Elisa tells her she can't stay and get all crazy and bitter like her aunt. Lolita agrees and helps them pack. Lolita makes Dam promise to always take her of "her niña". Elisa makes Lolita promise to leave the hacienda, too.

Chente recovers at the hospital. Chente asks if Gab was worried about him.  Braulio lies and tells him Gab came to see him. Chente tells Braulio he doesn't care for him one whit. Brau goes to Tonia and tells her he is leaving. Raise a glass, everyone!

Gabino is being all Eddie Haskell with the little old lady owner of the hacienda he wants to buy. They will settle everything in a couple of days when the certified check comes in. But until then, does his little chula reina mind keeping her little chula boca closed?

Flor wants Fina to uphold her end of the bargain. Flor wants Gweedo out of jail ASAP. Fina says Dad will be released, but first she wants to clear the Landucci name so the town doesn't think Dam is marrying the daughter of a thief. Alone, Fina gushes about HER nieto when she in interrupted by a phone call. She looks pithed.

Horacio remembers Padre Lupe's words about confession. Lolita comes in crying. He comforts her. They can run their business and start a family. Lolita thanks him for his love and support.

Paolo primps and Flor enters. She tells him not to mess up their plans and their future. He notices the bruises and she tells him about her fight with Paloma. Paolo warns that Flor's feelings for Quique are dangerous to their plan too. She better not screw up, either.

Dam and Elisa are almost out the door when Carmina stops them. It seems she was the phone call to Fina, who has arrived at the hacienda. Dam tells her not to waste her time. Nothing will stop him from being with Elisa. Fina gives a speech about a parent's love and sacrifice and hands Dam the results of "Florencia Landucci's" pregnancy test. Fina guilt trips. "You would leave your child? Abandon him like your father abandoned you?" "Elisa, you would allow that?" Dam still won't give up Elisa. He thinks he and Elisa need to discuss it and Fina can butt out. Dam and Elisa retire to Augusto's office and Fina snipes that Carmina looks good in black.

Elisa yells and cries about consequences. She loves him but they are never going to be happy. She tells him to go with Flor and be with his child. The can't make the same mistakes as their parents. Dam refuses, but Elisa tells him that she is putting an end to things. They are over. His mom and Flor are no longer the obstacles. Elisa herself is going to oppose them being together.

Sara:

What a terrific job you did -- as always! Thank you so much for this clever and zippy retelling of tonight's dismal episode. I especially loved getting a glimpse of your creative process:

"Dam's life sentence"--> the results ...

"50+ episodes left"-->consequences for every action

And then there's "Gabino is being all Eddie Haskell...
does his little chula reina mind keeping her little chula boca closed?"

So this has to be the absolute pits of the pits, right? When the baddies are all ahead, the AlfaBitch and the Rotten Citrus have teamed up, Ramona has clammed up and Elisa has given up?

And the estúpida de Florencia pulls the same fake pregnancy trick AGAIN and no one questions her? First she stole Kenia's pee, then she purloins Sabrina's blood ... I shudder to think what bodily fluid she'll go after next and from whom.

Even the writers can't bear looking ahead -- they are giving us "previews" that are "re-views" of what we just saw.

We knew those so often packed and unpacked bags of Elisa's weren't going anywhere. No one gets out of the quinta alive.

I would have called #93 "No Exit".
:)

Amen NovelaMaven!

Sara- Thanks for not lingering over the details of this dismal episode. There was not one moment that we could feel happy for Dam and Elisa since we knew the 900 pound baby anvil was about to fall on their heads. Blech!

I did get a kick out of Gab sweet talking that little old lady into selling him her hacienda, ever resorting to fanning her! LOL! That was the best part of the episode.

I didn't even enjoy the cat fight between Flor and Pal because of 1) the baby anvil, and 2) I kept thinking that Pal was being totally unprofessional starting a stupid cat fight in her place of work and was finally going to get her butt fired. Doc Tovar is WAY nicer than I am.

"Girl Fight!!! They pull Pal and Flor apart."

Hah! That's really all we need to get the full picture. I love a Sara recap!

Vivi, I agree it was hard to enjoy the actual scene for the very reasons you give. But it WAS kind of fun when Paolo looked at the scratches on Flor's arm and suggested she must be doing SOMETHING to provoke the denizens of La Ermita to violence -- she can't leave the hacienda without someone trying to wipe the smirk off her face.

Thanks Sara, this was a terrific recap. I love how you sped through the estupideces. I think everyone in La Ermita is incredibly stupid.

OMG, So funny that Lolita caught Tia listening at the door.

Hooray! Brauio is leaving! I hope Chente enjoys his new crap dad. I definitely raised my glass.

Speaking of dad, Gabino is an amazing, world class suck-up. I love that you called him Eddie Haskell; so true!!

Does it seem like Doc T is getting a wee bit weary of Paloma's antics? It's not cool for the receptionist to get into a slapfest with a patient even if it is Flor. I still cheered her though because she's not my employee.

Thanks ladies!

NM- I love your title suggestion. I will go back and add that now. Titles are the hardest for me to come up with. "No one gets out of the quinta alive" LOL!

I think Gab as Eddie Haskell was the highlight of tonight's offerings.

I think we are entering the extension doldrums.

I hope Chente enjoys his new crap dad.
---
If Gab the Haskell Mendoza gets that Hacienda, Chente is going to crap his pants and dump mom for sure.

Pure conjecture: Hasn't Fina mentioned a "surprise" for Dam? I hope it's that hacienda. I want to see a Fina/Gab bidding war.

But it WAS kind of fun when Paolo looked at the scratches on Flor's arm and suggested she must be doing SOMETHING to provoke the denizens of La Ermita to violence -- she can't leave the hacienda without someone trying to wipe the smirk off her face.
----
Oh that *was* a good line! Paolo knows his little sobrina very well!

Sara, right now there is only ONE thing I am looking forward to...the Gabino/Fina war. La Chula Reinita is gonna make out like a bandit.

Dam and Elisa make me snooze.

Thanks for a speedy recap Sara. nmaven, I love that blood and pee thing. Flor is truly evil for thinking she could get away with this another lie. I wonder how far she can go with this and Sabrina I think is not a reliable ally. oh Abismo should be changed to:The Perils of Pauline or better yet The trials and tribulations of Elisa.I really like A. Boyer and Lolita's acting. I'll forget about their waterworks.Gab can be so charming if he wanted too huh?

What we learned last night:

We learned Ramona is going to keep quiet until the last week of the show.

We learned Horacio must have a "Vienna Sausage" since Lolita is more worried and anxious about Elisa than him.

We learned Sabrina is most possibly the stupidest person in La Ermita.

Dam Upset learned he will be shackled to Florencia for life.

Damian learned Elisa would rather cry and play the victim than be with him.

We also learned either Carmina is the 2nd stupidest person in La Ermita or the most cruelest, since Elisa running away with Damian would have gotten rid of Elisa for good.

We also learned Paolo is still drooling after Carmina.

Anon207, great list tonight! You really nailed 'em. One of your observations nearly made me snort my wine out my nose. I'll be you know which one I'm talking about.

This back row gal will point it out:

VIENNA SAUSAGE!!!!!

T-shirt! I demand a T-shirt!!

Sartre would definitely approve your borrowing his title.

This episode was the pits except for Braulio confronting Antonia. That was long overdue. And the boy is his true father's child. As usual.

Morning Sara! What a great recap to start the day. Not sure why, but there was a bunch of the episode I just couldn't get interested in...mainly the Dam/Elisa stuff. I mean, you know there would be "No Exit". (Perfect! Sort of harkened a little Satre for me. Not stuck in a room, just stuck in La Ermita.)

Why did that little snot have to live another day? Wanted to wipe that stupid smile right from his face. Watch, Tonia will be the one to get the anvil, Gab won't have anything to do with said snot, and poor Braulio will be stuck with that ingrate. But for now, we can cheer that he's TRYING to make an exit.

I agree, Vivi. The Gab scene was priceless. Cutest little suck up. Bet I'm still betting that he isn't going to get that house--keep remembering Dam saying he doesn't want to live with his mother, so....

I'm sorry, but can they stop making Pal the high school whiny bully. Frankly, I was expecting the Doc to have to fire her on the spot. That whole girl fight in a professional office--just stoopid. I can get into a good slap, but have never gotten into the hair pulling, girl fight type confrontation.

Now that Elisa has made up her mind, well at least for now, and we knew she would do this with this very tired plot line, can we please cut the crying and get her moving on working the greenhouse, etc. I'm sure Gael is taking care of everything, but dang, it's her property and she should now jump into working it with a vengeance. (And she'll probably snatch up Gael as well, but I think we knew that was coming too---I know he led Pal on, hate you writers, but I'm not loving that he'll be a dumpee either.)

50 episodes...lord where will we go from here. (Oh, and REALLY enjoying the lack of Irritating in the last few episodes.)

Thanks, Sara! Brilliant as usual. I came in halfway through the epi -- I'm going to start DVRing it again now that Amorcito is going back to an hour -- and was pleasantly (re)surprised. Dumb plot, yes, but good acting! Braulio was superb.

I had trouble suspending my disbelief for the Gabino/Chula Vieja scene, though. I mean, c'mon, the guy is banged-up, filthy, and bandanahanded -- how could a nice old lady fall for that? Maybe her eyesight is going, but surely he *smells*...? (Sorry, Cynderella. But maybe you like that.)

And just out of curiosity, what's become of the Augusto table? Are you guys holding a velorio over there?

Sara: Succinct and spectacular. So many of your great lines have already been noted, "But until then, does his little chula reina mind keeping her little chula boca closed?" was my favorite. Loved every word of this.

Thought it was interesting Lolita cried that Elisa would leave her all alone. What about her husband? Although she tried to make amends, Horacio will always be a distant second. But, wasn't that the case with Braulio? Lolita will always put Elisa first.

I wanted to reach into Chente and rip out that donated kidney. A waste of a perfectly good organ. He does not begin to deserve it. How could he be so cruel to Braulio?

I think I am alone though in that I feel very sorry for Tonia. Yes, she should have told Braulio long ago but here she is, one kidney down, left to deal with her reprehensible spawn all alone.

Fina continues her domination. Have to give it to her, she spun her sticky web so quickly Dam and Elisa didn't even make it out of the house this time.

Anon, I fear your: "We learned Ramona is going to keep quiet until the last week of the show" is very likely true. Sigh.

Diana

Sara - Love the recap!!! Thank you. I FFWD-> thru most of it because a.) I was totally exhausted and b.) couldn't deal with the crying. I loved your 'strike-throughs' (LOL) and all the excellent snark. My favorite line:

"Gabino is being all Eddie Haskell…" OMG! That is perfect! I kept wondering which adjective could describe his behavior.

NovelaMaven - I think you're right; nobody gets out of la quinta alive, just like in Storybrooke where no one ever leaves.

Sara. Thanks for great recapture of a hohum episode.

Sylvia. Ditto on Dam and Elisa.
Paloma needs an intervention. She's either crying or in a fight with someone. Pretty but annoying in second place right after Sabrina.

Sara,
THANK YOU so much for the snarky fun recap. I am with Doris, LOVED LOVED your strike=throughs and comments.

Paloma, every time i see her getting all loud and irate, i think more and more that Quique is a better match for her than Gael. Gael also has a short fuse, to put it mildly... Quique would provide a better grounding for her, IMO.

Btw, i totally missed last night's ep since my daughter begged me that we watch the 1000th ep of WWE RAW... that was fun, and from the recap i can see i didn't miss much fun although i would have loved to watch the cat fight between those two. speaking of those two,
1. wouldn't Paloma be very suspicious about a second 'timely pregnancy announcement' from Flo to separate Dam and Elisa? I am ok i guess in Doctor Tovar 'accepting' the results if they have Flo's name in them. but at least i would have a little crack of doubt if i were Paloma.
2. Carlos, are the labs that stupid to not require any kind of ID on a patient before they plant a name on a lab blood sample?
come to think about it, i have not had labs actually require my id, only my insurance card. (LOL!)

Good morning all!

Many thanks again to NovelaMaven for the title. Believe me, I could never come up with something that evokes Sartre. lol
-----
I wanted to reach into Chente and rip out that donated kidney. A waste of a perfectly good organ.
Diana: So true. I can't beileve Chente feels nothing for Braulio...the man who has loved him like a son. Chente is the embodiment of twerpy twerpetude twerp.
----
Blue Lass: I had the same thoughts about La Chula Reina falling for the beat up bandanahanded Sr. Haskell. (And kudos to the make-up dept. Very believable make-up on Gab.)

Speaking of make-up: Have they gotten better false lashes for Elisa? They didn't look as heavy last night.

Thanks for the nifty recap, Sara.

Blue Lass, Augusto has been mourned and we've put away the paper bags and dispersed. I'm not sure where I'd like to settle down next, however we'll not be starting a Chente table anytime soon... what a little twerp. He was so bad last night that he is almost certain to find redemption... maybe he'll end up getting together with a battered Sabrina.

Marta, the lab we use requires photo ID and a lab request from a Dr.'s office. But who would think of getting a pregnancy test under someone else's name?

I can't think of anything that is going on right now that I'm liking... well maybe Elisa jerking Dam around by the lapels.

Carlos

Diana:

Insightful comments, as always.

"Thought it was interesting Lolita cried that Elisa would leave her all alone. What about her husband? Although she tried to make amends, Horacio will always be a distant second. But, wasn't that the case with Braulio? Lolita will always put Elisa first."

It WAS interesting but if we think of Lolita as Elisa's mother (and that's the role she has played for a very long time), it was understandable. Mothers are like that. (Oh how I sobbed after each of my kids left for college or to travel to distant places. Sniff.) Of course the Alfa isn't like that -- she's the one who sent her child away and if she wants him around now, it is just so she can work his strings like some monstrous puppeteer -- les Guignols de La Hermita.

And calling all Pitters, speaking of puppet shows --
If you still have the recording, take a close look at the last scene where Alfa- and OmegaBitch team up against DamElisa. Watch Orange OmegaBitch's face as she follows the farce being played out -- her fake expressions of shock, dismay, sympathy and surprise are hilarious.

Thanks for the tip, NovelaMaven.

Often when recapping, one misses the faces because one is furiously scribbling notes.

Sara, again we had a (tedious) episode that demanded your quick, snappy style! Like others here, I loved the strike out comments letting us into the "SaraSpeak" of your mind! THANKS!

Diana, I feel badly about Toña too. She made a common youthful mistake, a pregnancy, then  her financial source, Alfie, encouraged her to compound the mistake by lying, and since then she has put the needs of her child before Braulio, sad but doesn't put her in the "Orange" category. The good Padre and Braulio need to learn a little thing about timing, funerals and hospital rooms aren't the time to lower a boom on people!

The only thing missing from Ganino's presentation to the older lady was the mention of snake oil!

Carlos and I haven't completely disbanded our table as of yet, I'm suggesting we invite his Señora and my Señor down for drinks and discuss something people from Texas and Tennessee have in common, the Battle of the Alamo! "Then Sam Houston said......."

Novela Maven- I did notice all of Carmeany's fake expressions of concern. LOL! Who's she trying to fool anyway? Everyone in that room knows she hates Elisa.

Doris- La Quinta and La Ermita IS like Storybrooke! Of Carmina and Alfie, who is Gold/Rumple and who is Regina? Carmeany sure does have the off coloring of Rumple, and Alfie channels the Wiked Witch pretty well.

Sara and Blue Lass:

Wouldn't it be great if the Chula Reina didn't actually own the hacienda and was planning to take Gabino's cashier's check and run ... or totter or something?

Daisynjay:

"Why did that little snot have to live another day?"

Thanks for saying out loud what we were all feeling!

And Blue Lass, you are so right -- Braulio WAS superb. Wonderful actor, well-written scenes. Hold the phone ... how did they let him into the story?

Is there a Braulio table? If not, let's start one. The Augusto group will disperse soon.

I am good for the Braulio table, but might end up feeling conflict of interests with Lolita, splitting myself between those two tables.

Wouldn't it be great if the Chula Reina didn't actually own the hacienda and was planning to take Gabino's cashier's check and run ... or totter or something?
----
OH that would be SO AWESOME! I can just see the scene now: Sweet old lady totters away from Gab and gets into the cab...then cut to opulent hotel room with young studs feeding her peeled grapes while she reclines in a silk caftan and chuckles to herself.

Sandy in TN: No, Toña is really not in the Orange category. I think the writers are making a bigger deal out of her transgression for convenience. Now Braulio can be free without looking like an a$$.

Thanks Sara! Mighty fine recap!

I, for once, am not unhappy about Flor pulling the fake pregnancy bit again. Alfonsina deserves this. She is keeping Guido in jail until Flor gets pregnant by Dam? That's insane! What kind of extortion is that?Unbelievable! She doesn't really care whether Guido betrayed her or not at this point, it's just a tool in her arsenal of forcing people to do her bidding.

Dam also deserves this. How many times has he run back to Flor only to drop her like a hot potato when Elisa appears to be available? How many promises has he made to Flor? This time, he went back determined to get back with Flor within HOURS of learning Elisa was "unavailable". And he didn't just sleep with Flor that one drunken night, but several times. Like Elisa told Dam, decisions have consequences. The guy is pathetic.

Besides we all know Elisa adores wearing the badge of sacrifice for "renunciar" her only true love. Much better than actually trying to be happy.

Ugh!

Sara,

A big thank you! This was your usual great recap!

Anon 207: "Vienna Sausage" still has me laughing.

Blue Lass: (Re Gabino and the Old Lady) Maybe I'm over-sexed and shallow (...like Cynderella?), but that bandana-clad, fan-toting bad boy's act would have worked on me! I usually prefer them a litle more well-groomed, but... he could have bought my farm. Just sayin.

I need me some fanin' Gabino,
Sondie

ITA Audrey, both Alfie and Dam deserve the deception...
and Elisa better start thinking and acting a bit more selfish and not so martyr-ish... sometime life serves you lemons, so figure out the way to put them to good use, sometimes the people you sacrifice your own happiness for are just plain non-deserving.

Sara, thanks for your martyrdom, er recap. Most excellent, m'dear.
Loving all the comments. (Hating the show!)

Daisynjay:

"Frankly, I was expecting the Doc to have to fire her on the spot. That whole girl fight in a professional office--just stoopid."

I think Paloma should write a thank-you note to Alfie for saving her job. As soon as Alfie ordered Doc T to fire Paloma, we knew our girl had job security. Doc is still furious about Alfie booting Quique from the Pro Ce.

Speaking of the doc, did anyone else enjoy the way the old pro of an actor simply brushed the overexuberant potted plant out of his way in his scene with Alfie? That's one of the reasons this guy is always working!

ITA as well Audrey. When Elisa pulled him by the shirt lapels, I so wanted her to add a good slap to her reaction. Dam Stoopid seems to think it was perfectly understandable that he would have immediately flopped into the sack with Flo, "oh, I was drunk, I had to drown my sorrows". Pure Bull Hockey. What would he have done if she turned around and said the same thing? Hmmmmm?

I could see once he pulled this, but he pulled this more than once. There's a little thing called self-control buddy.

Only one I actually feel sorry for is Sabrina now since she's caught in the crossfire of everyone's manipulating. Elisa will move on and find something else to cry over.

Anyone else think the ending to this thing may actually be hard to take? 2/3 of the way thru and I still am not a fan of either lead's character to this point ( except when they were kiddies.) Folks have some changin' to do.

Sara thanks for this great recap and taking one for the team. Gabino as Eddie Haskell was truly the high point of the epi.

NM - You took the words from my mouth regarding Flo. Seriously no one questions this. You would think the writers would not be lame enough to repeat the same crap we have seen (false pregnancy, wrong couples, etc) but I fear that's where we are. Oh yeah, the new wrinkle is that Flo will steal Sabrina's baby. Bleck!

Diana - yes Chente was horrible and I too wanted to removed his new kidney. How he could be so vile to the real man who raised him just affirmed who is real father is. And unfortunately as daisynjay noted, I think Tonia will be the one who dies and the brat will live. For all the crap the writers have put us through, Chente needs to leave w/his mom.

Thanks Sylvia for the line Paolo said and the hope of the Gab/Fina war. I want to see the baddies trying to take one another out - another way the writers can compensate for their continued foolishness.

Pasofino - "Paloma needs an intervention. She's either crying or in a fight with someone. Pretty but annoying in second place right after Sabrina." Brilliant!!

Oh my...don't know which is better...that fabulous snotty recap or the fabulous snotty comments? Y'all are on fire today.

Sara, I love how you don't waste any time on dreary details while being just so goldurned funny.

"Horacio's House o' Meat" was just too much. (if I weren't a vegetarian already, I would be after viewing him and his carniceria)....and "there is a llorafest".

Yessssss, "llorafest" seems to be the overriding theme in this telenovela. Emilia said it best: love the recap and comments, hate the show.

STILL...will have to take a peek since I wouldn't want to miss Gabino doing a little chula number on an old lady. I'm with Sondie, I could use a little chula action from old Gabino right about now. And some fanning too!

I wouldn't take Gabino on a platter, with an apple in his mouth. He is just repulsive to me. Come to think of it, he usually does have an apple in his mouth. Start the charcoal, writers!

Diana, Lolita always puts Elisa first EXCEPT remember when Braulio was in hospital waiting for word of Chente and Tonia? Lolita said Elisa needed her but Braulio said he needed her too and asked her to stay. And she did! She would never do that for Horacio, thus proving to me that Braulio is her true love.

Also, your (and Sandy's) compassion is amazing. I grew weary of Tonia's continued and inappropriate bitchiness long ago. Kudos to you for feeling sorry for her in her current situation. I more or less feel she has brought it upon herself. Although I will concede she is still a tragic figure.

Doris, yes! La Ermita is like Storybrooke. Leave and you are vaporized. I say Fina is Regina (they are both Evilinas) and Carmeany is Gold/Rumple for obvious reasons.

Save a seat for me at the Braulio table. I'm confident it will soon be the Braulio/Lolita table.

I have this overwhelming desire to have grilled vienna sausage this morning. Why?

OK, gotta go check Orangina's facial expressions...

Ok. I think we need a STOOPIDITY SCALE. (includes living or dead)

Three tied for number one place:

1. Rosendo -- He abandoned his son to run away with the Rotten Citrus. Wasn't in love, just in lust, and wanted to get away from Alfie (can't really blame him for that). But he made no financial provisions for Dam or Gael before leaving. Besides, I believe that even in La Ermita, there's such a thing as divorce.

2. Alfie -- was always a pill but after Rosie's death, based her life on getting even with the wrong woman (who was already dead, for heavens sakes!) and with that woman's daughter and husband. She is ALWAYS wrong and someone is ALWAYS manipulating her.

3. Augusto -- for yielding to the Rotten Orange over and over and abusing Elisa for years; for being deaf, dumb and blind to all evidence of the Orange One's perfidy until it was too late.

4 et al: Damián, Elisa, Begoña, Sabrina, Kenia

Well, you get the idea.

P.S. No fair putting us on the STOOPID list -- we are all serious language learners here, right?

Novela, I think Alfie and "Carminative" (letting my phone have its way) are tied for NÚMERO UNO. Alfie  for choosing Flo who would move Dam out of La Ermita so  dam quick after the boda and "Carminative" (phone on a roll) for the same reason....Elisa was walking out of her life and she stopped her!   You have to be stoooopid to work so hard to destroy  your own life!

Rosendo, number two for the reasons you mention!

Audrey, agree with your comment today!

NM-Love the STOOPIDITY scale and of course *we* (the dear viewers) are NOT on it. Clearly we are of high intellectual stock and are simply here for the opportunity to hone our language skills

(and admire hotties; and cheer on girl fights and....)

*ahem*

I agree with the many comments about this fake pregnancy business. In fact, it seems the writers aren't even bothering to come up with somewhat different plot lines for the filler episodes. They are just rewriting the same stuff from the first month of production.

Carminative does appear STOOPID for stopping Elisa. But what does Carmi live for? All she does is torment others. With Augusto gone she is left with only Elisa. Maybe Carmina needs Elisa around for the sport of it. Good grief what a dysfunctional family. And yes, her facial expressions in that scene were classic. Wow, Elisa really belongs in a special place on the STOOPIDTY list. She falls for the same old tricks every single time.

This might be too hard to compile a Pasíon stoooopid list, I'll just have to just leave it to the smaaaaarter posters here!!!

I don't think it would be hard to *compile* the STOOPID list.

Everyone except Quique.

See? I just compiled the list.

It's deciding each person's *level* of stoopidity that would be hard for me.

And Lucio. Lucio's OK, right?

Sara, loved the recap - you got it all done in just the right amount of space.

About the only thing I'm enjoying on this TN is any encounter between Padre Guadalupe and Ramona. They seem to have genuine respect for one another and therefore the best dialogs.

Gabino is a POS. He needs a caption saying, "Awaiting Execution". Loved Braulio beating his culo last week.

The Paloma / Florencia smackdown would have been more entertaining in the proverbial kiddy pool filled w/ green jello.

Blue Lass, como es tu brazo derecho hoy?

El brazo está mucho mejor, gracias! Sling off tomorrow.

Agree, Sylvia...Carmina's main desire has always been to make Elisa miserable. That seemed to be an even greater desire than "winning Augusto's love" (something I always found had to believe and harder to understand anyway.)So yeah, Elisa has to stay...and suffer suffer suffer!

Enjoyed watching this, being on the lookout, thanks to the comments, for Doc Tovar casually brushing aside the invading fern, Gabino's incredible sliming all over the old lady (who was lovin' it)and Carmina's fake oh dear me expressions. You all are such fun companions in my virtual family room. Thanks!

As for Toñia, yes, I'm sorry about the far-reaching consequences of her drunken roll in the hay with Gabino. But bad decisions DO have consequences. We've all suffered them ourselves (in spite of our not being on the Stoopid Scale). Still, just as Padre Lupe's diatribe was the wrong time and place at Augusto's funeral, I think Braulio's exit, while his wife is still suffering post-surgery agony, was...well, a little bit precipitous. But I guess we know, Menfolk in these telenovelas do tend to act first, think later. (Are you listening Damian?)

Oh dear me! You are right and I stand corrected Blue Lass

Amended List o' Stooidities
Everyone except Quique and Lucio.

-__-

*List o' STOOPID. (wish I had the phone to blame.)

Now Sandy, I agree with Cap'n Sylvia about Carminative. The thing is she's never been STOOPID. She is the puppeteer. She has successfully manipulated everyone.

She lives to torture Elisa -- especially now that she has bumped off Augusto.

[That's why I think she sort of deserves a table on the Patio; but personally, I'd be afraid to sit at it.]

So are we not going to give Dolores a place on the very short list of exceptions to the List o' STOOPID: Everyone except Quique and Lucio and Dolores...?

(Remember: Dolores wouldn't even have married Horacio if Lupe hadn't nudged her into it. Sorry Lupe, you are getting a high ranking on the LOS>)

Sara, LOVED your recap, as always. I love it when you do the discarded line with the line running through "50 episodes left"! LOL!

OK, am I crazy or when Alfie and the doc were meandering through the hospital did she make a dig about his affair with Carmeany and he said "I'd appreciate your discretion with Begonia" or something like that? If so, how the hay-ride (Marta, I've used that like 10 times!!!) does Alfie know that Doc and Carmeany hooked up??? I certainly could have misunderstood this scene.

And isn't Flo awfully smug considering she's lying to EVERYONE and she has yet to a) fake a pregnancy for 9 months b) steal someone's baby c) pass it off as hers and not get sent to prison in the process? I think I'd be a little more nervous quite frankly!!!

Thanks again, Sara. You have such a knack for getting right to the heart of the episode!

Katy

Yes, Katy - Doc and Fina did snipe at each other about his "aventura" and I wondered the same. Does anyone remember how Fina found out?

OK, I've seen the light! Carminative, the puppeteer, having orchestrated the "abysmal" fall of so many citizens of La Ermita, can't be stoooopid, it takes brains to be that evil!!!
Yes, I agree!

When we start the meanest, maybe she can have the top spot there! ¿Si?

Agreed: Triumverate of non-STOOPID will be Quique, Lucio and Lolita.

Sandy, Thanks for sticking by me here at the Augusto table with our esposos. Supporting Augusto was a bit like defending the Alamo... a hopeless yet noble cause. The Alamo certainly, I'm afraid that many here might disagree about Augusto.

I really had much higher hopes for the shaggy one. I still believe that the loyalty of his friends and the undying love of his daughter made him worthy of redemption. I still think that he is one of the most tragic TN characters ever.

Here's a sad toast with a shot of George Dickel No. 12 to our favorite flawed character.

Carlos

Fina found out from Paloma when she accidentally blabbed about being blamed for Carmina. The broken plates remark Fina was the one who told Assgusto about Carmina and Edmundo.

Flo must be relying on Paolo to provide the details.

Oh that's right! Thanks, Audrey!

Sandy, when we start the MEANIE SCALE, Carminative and AlfaBitch will have to mud-wrestle for the top spot.

About the phenomenon of PALOMA-BLURT:

Maybe we're too hard on Paloma. She is just a poor little exploited plot device, barely earning minimum wage, who makes sure that secrets of the medical confessional (as well as some secrets of the medical confessor himself) come to light.

This is sidebar material!

Did anyone else hear the phone ringing---it happened twice!--- in the background, when PadLoopy was talking with Ramona last night?

NovelaMaven - I noticed Carmina's comical facial expressions during that AlphaBitch confrontation.

BlueLass - I'm heading towards the Braulio table right now.

It might be easier to compile a list of the AdP characters who are NOT stoopid:
- All the horses
- Lucio
- Braulio (not his fault he was duped by Tonia)
- Quique

(Lolita is not on the 'Not Stoopid' list because she married Horacio, in spite of having no knowledge of his family or background or history.)

Carlos, thanks for bringing out the good stuff for our last toast to the "shaggy one." Yes, Augusto was a "hopeless yet nobel" cause. Also, I so agree, "he  is one of the most tragic TN characters ever."  I'm left wishing that I could see the original, "Cañaveral de Pasiones," I think I'll buy the DVD, perhaps his character was better understood in the original.

NM, there will certainly be double entries between the meanie scale and the stupid scale! We'll need a computer program before it is all over!

OT: gossip:
Fer Colunga and Blanca Soto are doing a comic novela (La Fea style) in Mex.
they are being interviewed in Gordo y Flaca). I wonder if they will have to put Fer in platform shoes to be taller than her, or make her wear flats...
i dont see any sparks when they stand side by side, but its too early to tell.

and Juan Osorio is the producer... yikes!

Not Stoopid: Maru!

Yes, definitely add Maru to the Not Stoopid List.

Doris: The addition of "all the horses" was so funny. And how *did* we forget Maru??

Newsflash! Elisa shops at Target! Yes, I just saw her, extremely short shorts, cowboy boots, tank top with maximum boobage, crochet vest. Did I take a picture? Unfortunately no. She caught me gawking at her and I was afraid security would toss me out if I chased after her with my phone. By the way, she's got a kid about 4 yrs old that she's been hiding from us.

Oh wow! A brush with fame. I am so jealous, Cap'n!

So is this really supposed to be the "luke" of the moment? eeew.

This is a great reacap. Funny! To thoses who don't appreciate Gabby's assets and are totally appalled and disgusted by him. Thank you. That's just one last tart that I have to compete with in the forum..I'm talking to you Sondie and JudyB.

Cynde...I'm about the same age as that old crone who's about to sell him the hacienda. In other words, I only have a chance if I've got me a big fine house to unload. Now Sondie, dunno...she might be trouble!
