Refugio Para el Amor #76 Mon 7/23/12 Violeta Loses Face in Front of Magda, But Then Gains Some Shocking Knowledge About Luci
V: Mama, forgive me please! Forgive me. I didn’t want you to feel ashamed of me, mama.
M: More than anything else, I’m ashamed of having a LIAR for a daughter! Who thinks her mother is so insignificant, that she doesn’t deserve to hear the truth!

I felt badly for Magda finding out about Vio in this way but I'm happy that lie has been exposed. And yes having Vio know the secret will probably/hopefully speed up that revelation.
Wow, Rod continues to be Nimrod (nice name). I'm tried of his foolishness about loving her forever when he often isn't civil and almost childish around her now.
Poor Hannah. You are trying to nice but you need to dump Boris now before you end up caught in the requisite questionable TN hug or liplock.
ITA agreement that Hannah is headed for a troubled love triangle with Boris and Lorenzo, but she's young so I'll cut her some slack. She needs to learn.
Her big brother, on the other hand, has no excuse for his stupid behavior. No one but him, and Ariche, understands this whole I'll love and care for her forever, but I can't marry her/be with her b.s. When a 7 year old is the only one who understands your logic, then you're in trouble.
Another Tums required meal at the mansion. All it takes is for one person to make an escape before the mass exodus ensues, minus poor Conny who always seems to get stuck. And she gets to endure a lecture from Rosa about her obligation to be with her kids 24/7 and never let them have a thought or life of their own.
One more person know knows THE SECRET. Paz really needs to spill the beans while she can control how the story gets out otherwise poor Luci is going to get blindsided like Vio did. Lordy but i hope the truth comes out this week, I can't stand the suspense. Kind of interesting looking previews with Luci daring to show her face at the big house and the nitwit having one more chance to have a jealous fit.
So sad on the Madga/Vio confrontation, but did like Paz's take on things and how the mothers all realized what their kids have tried to do. And in the meantime....the SECRET is exposed. C'mon, someone has to spill already.
Dumbass just stays consistent. I'm getting nervous about this plane trip with Ariche. I know it would break the little guy's heart right now, but I"m almost hoping it doesn't come off. The writers just wouldn't go there with some sort of accident would they?
I'm really getting sick of the champagne-slugging every time Julia shows her mugg--like to take one of those bottles...but I digress. But since Rod is acting like high school anyway himself,he and Gala can go to prom and start going steady again. They deserve each other right now.
Vicky--there is a button the phone that TURNS IT OFF! There is also an option to let it just vibrate. Oh my god, that scene was so stooopid.
LOVE Oscar. And really Connnie, you fall for that "be there for your kids" crap-- they are how old? You should just assume anything out of Rosa's mouth is nonsense and do the opposite.
"This gets Rod’s boxer-briefs even more twisted into a bunch" and "He gets his usual greeting from Vio, “What the hell do you want?!”" had me laughing out loud.
Also enjoyed your comments on Rod: "But Damn straight! Do you blame her Rod?)" and "(Rod, that was YOUR fault big guy.)". Most excellent!
Magda is one of my favorites and I hate that she is hurting. I'm hoping she and Vio sit down, have a heart to heart and end up as the loving mother/daughter they should be.
Also, "Aquiles laments the loss of his Palomita, but then remembers the Diablita in El Inferno (Vio)—a perfect place and person to spend his money on". Hmmm. I think Magda should impart a little information of her own (if what we suspect is true - that Aquiles is Vio's father). And muy pronto.
What will Vio do? The question is: can she handle the truth? The answer is yes, but hopefully she will take time to digest it and then realize she needs to tell Paz. This will make Paz tell Luci the truth sooner rather than later.
Max is putting Vicky through hell. daisy, I was also hoping Vicky would turn the phone off but I think she is too afraid to. Max is running further down the redemption path daily.
Decie Girl, ITA that Gagme's sophmoric hijinx are getting old and stale quickly.
Thanks again Vivi!
Diana
LOVED this line.
The next morning at the Torreslanda breakfast table, Rosa La Loca is still harping about how wonderful it is to have her whole family together (i.e. under her control).
and the cue to 'Woohoos!!' from the young-uns at the table... that was a fun moment!
but now if Connie listens and acts on the 'guilt-trip speech 102' from Rosa, then Connie is stoopid. She has shown consistency lately and her and Oscar are one of my fav if not my fav couple in the show, up there with Pato and Mati as characters...
The Ariche and Rod relationship and trust is so sweet. and Rod telling Ariche that he would always love and look out for Luci gave me mixed feelings (on one side he is SO DUMB he will definitely fall for Gala's high school tactics, and on the other side, Rod and Ariche seem to see more eye to eye than Rod with anyone else... sweet to watch those two talk... can't wait for the plane ride scene...
Decie Girl- I also agree that if Paz doesn’t tell the truth herself, someone else will do it for her, and not in the best way. Vio’s situation with Magda should serve as a warning to her.
Diana- I think that Magda is now calm enough to have a heart to heart with Vio. I agree that she also needs to share her secret with Vio and tell her who her papa is. I’m not liking Don Aquiles thinking about her either. I think it’s interesting that Aquiles did remember Magda’s words about ending up alone—as much as he blusters at her, her words matter to him I think.
Right now, he deserves whatever trap Gala, Julie and Rosa are planning for him.
I also love Connie and Oscar and hope she doesn't cave to Rosa's guilt trip. No one should take advice from that Loca. Plus, she just wants to control Connie, like everyone else in the family.
and if Aquiles is the dad, would he know? he seems interested in Coral, but once he knows it is Violeta, will he still be interested?
-When Magda told Aquiles off about pursuing Luci, he yelled back at her that she had her chance a long time ago, but snubbed him.
-Aquiles mentioned to Procopio that he knew Magda well when she was young, and that she was something else.
-Magda admitted to Paz that she never told Vio's dad she was pregnant by him after she realized the horrible person he was. She refuses to even tell Paz who the man is.
The writers have made a point of showing how Aquiles gets to Magda, and how she gets to him. They know how to push each other's buttons. I think that if Aquiles starts to show interest in Vio, she will be forced to finally spill the beans to one or both of them.
Look out Archie. You have already observed the plane ride Rod put on Luci. Rod's actions aren't falling far from the loca madra tree.
I'm sure they have seen ladies dressed similar to Vio's Inferno getup before, if not in Het Het, then surely in the state capital Chihuahua, and that is exactly why they are not pleased to see their daughters dressed as ladies of the evening.
Rod is so stooopid I mostly ignore him. The 'high school' idea of Rod and Gala is fun. Hey gang! Let's meet at the malt shop...
Another phrase I really loved was "rumble in the library, shaming at the club". Great, consolidated way of expressing those two powerful scenes.
And finally, delighted to open my computer late this morning and find a last comment on Friday's recap from Marta's very own daughter.....agreeing that her mom is super and wonderful at taking care of folks. How nice Marta to know your family treasures you as much as we do. Not always the case!
Raining steadily here which sometimes takes out our underground cables and zaps the electricity. So praying that our power holds until I get the recap done tonight. Vivi, I'll call if anything gets messed up.
Emilia, what a beautiful pic of the new bundle!! God bless...
Rod certainly fits the bill for high school girl(s) dragging him around like a football-star-brainless-hunk. totally deserved.
Thanks for the kind words Judy. I always try to pull out some of the words that pop out and that we will see again. Fingers crossed that you keep your electricity. Just call me if you need a rescue.
By contrast the Torreslanda's are exclusive. It is just them and no outsiders are welcome. Poor Boris got one invitation and is not likely to eat another meal outside his own family for the rest of his life. Despite Max's wishes that the house be tranquil and Rosa's claim that he didn't want strangers in it I'm thinking she is the one at the heart of the isolation. Who in their right mind would enjoy sitting at a table while various and sundry members are being lectured by a pious hypocrite.
Rod continues to be w a world class dunce. Like his mother everything that happens is always someone else's fault. Let's see his list so far - Luci filed to divorce him, she returned his gifts, she is cutting him out of her life, she is having an affair with Linares, how dare she embrace him on the street. He on the other fails to recognize that he stood by silently while three harpies savaged her, he believed vicious lies and gave her no chance to explain, he told her it was over, he is apparently stalking her and still giving her no chance to explain, he told his friends it was over and he never wanted to see her again - yet somehow all of it is her fault.
I don't like Don A and really find his reaction to Vio creepy. I don't want him to be her father because that creep factor is hard to get out of your mind. That scene outside the club was painful to watch you hurt for both Vio and her mother. There was Vio wanted to tell her mother but leaving it too long. Just hope that Paz doesn't do the same thing.
Watching that preview of Luci going to the Ice House made me worry. We haven't seen her have a fainting spell for awhile and I wouldn't want it to happen in front of Rosa. I want that secret kept well and truly away from the TL crowd.

Rod has "earned" some new names lately, Dumb A$$--Pea Brain--NimRod. My guess is that there will be more before this novela ends.
Urban--I agree that Ariche just might be cupid.
daisynjay--No, No, No, Please no plane crash/accident for little Ariche.
Decie Girl--Loved your Ice House line. Also loved your version of the contrasting meals. I love good food as do all but would rather eat with Luci's extended family any day. Those people are genuine and warm.

I think Vio has been in this job now for a few years. I'm guessing she left the pueblo for the city about five years ago and so is in her early to mid 20s. Unlike Luci, who did not leave Het Het of her own free will, it seems that Vio craved another life and wanted more things. She was likely just as innocent and taken aback by what was asked of her as Luci was when she was first offered the job, but she was more willing to compromise the principles she grew up with because she actually wanted the city life and all it has to offer. I think she sees that difference between her and Luci. She and Luci even spoke about it- Luci clearly wants to go back to the pueblo and feels she doesn't fit in the city, while Vio says she is a city girl at heart. Luci is also younger than her and there is some protectiveness there. So it's not a matter of thinking Luci is better, but like any big sister wanting to protect the other person and not wanting them to go through the rough stuff you did. Plus she recognizes that Luci's core values are more aligned to Het Het than they are to D.F.
As for being ashamed of the job, I think she is. She has mentioned many times how she will never find a man who truly respects her if she remains in this job. And she was thinking of her singing being a way to get ahead. After all these years as a bar waitress, I think she's starting to feel it's a dead end.
Definition: dimwitted or stupid fellow
Origin: Name of an (or many) ancient Assyrian king. Thought to be the name of the king who built the Tower of Babel. The meaning of the name is “mighty hunter”, as Nimrod was a prolific hunter of both animals and men. In 15th-century English, nimrod came to mean "tyrant". In 20th-century American English, the current meaning came into being. It was first recorded and popularized in 1932, when Bugs Bunny refers to the hunter Elmer Fudd as "poor little Nimrod", an ironic connection between "mighty hunter" and Fudd, who was anything but. The term was shortened to nimrod, with the new ironic meaning.
Yeah, I found Rosa at the table acting like the perfect mother terrifying. That was rich when she started chiding Con about being a good example for your kids.
Vi is in for yet another shock if her mother hits her up with the married man with kids card.
Amazing to me that almost everyone in this story is in possession of some secret except Luci, Jana and Melissa and Luci did have the one about Vi' job. Everyone needs to sit down and just talk to each other not at each other.
Fer Colunga and Blanca Soto are starting to work on a comic novela produced by Juan Osorio in Mex.
will he need platforms?
i did not see any sparks when they were standing side by side but too early to tell. now Juan O is joining them on screen.
Anon 4:21- The problem is that most of these people don't want to share their secrets. Even if they sat in the same room, they would all be trying like crazy to not let the cat out of the bag. Vio didn't seem angry at Luci in front of the club, so I don't think she jumped to the conclusion that Luci ratted her out. She sent Luci after the moms more out of concern for the moms wandering D.F. alone at night, I think.
