Abismo de pasión #111 8/17/12: Eliar is a Low-Down, Man-Stealing, Skank and other Keen Observations

Alternative Title
Alfonsina is in a Bad Mood, So Everybody is Going to Have a Bad Day
Guido is not a Punk
Casa de Mickey and Mallory Alfonsina bursts through the front door just in time to catch Gabby and Ingrid swappin’ lots of spit.  Shocked, Alfonsina tells the twisted lovers that she will have them both arrested for attempted murder!  Gabby follows Alfonsina outside.  He readily confesses that he and Ingrid broke into Alfonsina’s house and decked her, but he also knows she won’t tell anyone because she’d have to admit to Damien that she deliberately lied about Elisa.  Alfonsina doesn’t care; she just wants them both to get got. Within earshot of her driver, Gabby threatens to reveal that Damien and Gael are brothers.  He’ll tell Damien that she has always known and then he’ll tell the things that he’s done under her orders.  Gabby assures her that Damien will hate her forever.   Alfonsina stumbles over to the SUV and gets in.
Clinic Reception Desk Ramona has come to the big city to visit Dr. Tovar; Paloma informs her that he’s with a patient.  Ramona tells Paloma that she’s tired of looking at her face and starts in on her granddaughter about Gael.  Leave me alone!  Ramona tells Paloma to lower her voice because you’re never too old to get punched in your face by your grandmother.  She goes on to say that Paloma can’t handle the fact that she gave up her goodie in order to keep Gael, but her goodie wasn’t great because Gael still prefers Elisa.  Paloma says that she didn’t give up the goodie to keep him, she gave it up because she loves him (Thank you Jesus for blessing me with sons!).  Paloma tells her grandmother not to worry, times have changed; it doesn’t matter whether or not you’re a virgin anymore or something like that.

Casa de Dr. Tovar Vincente stops by with a bouquet of flowers to visit Sabrina, but Mrs. Kravitz (Begona) gives him the big gator-skin boot!  Um is he there to apologize or is he there to mack on a girl who just had a miscarriage 15 minutes ago? Gabino wouldn’t have a problem with it, so why should he?
Clinic Dr. Tovar’s Office Dr. Granny Ramona Clampett consults with Dr. Tovar about the herbs that she observed in his kitchen cabinet when she was making vittles.  Anyways, according to Granny, those herbs will induce a miscarriage.  Dr. Tovar tells Ramona that Sabrina lost the baby last night because of the herb tea and extreme stress.  Dr. Tovar tells Ramona that he admires her work and knows that his patients visit her sometimes.  He calls her wise.  The two join the Mutual Admiration Society and agree to keep Paloma’s suicide attempt and Sabrina’s pregnancy confidential.  Both agree that both girls fell in love with the wrong man.  Ramona says that there is no cure for love disease.
Casa de Mickey and Mallory Ingrid demands that Gabby return her money, so that she can quickly get out of Dodge City. Gabby tells her to calm down; Alfonsina will now pay for all the little favors that he has done for her.   Gabby grants her request for emancipation and tells her that he will give her the money tomorrow.
Casa de Don Lucio Eliar is a low-down, selfish, lying, two-bit, cowboy boot struttin’, back-stabbin’, booty-cutting short-short wearing, man-stealing, ever-sobbing, ho-b*tch, skank!  Oh my gosh!  My recap was cancelled last week and I didn’t get to vent.  I needed to get that off of my chest with todas mis fuerzas.  OK, back to the recap.  Gall, on the other hand, (I’m sorry. I lied. I do have more to say) is a low-down, conniving, lying, dirty, plaid-shirt wearing, scuzzy, coveting, greedy, jealous jerk!  I can’t even look at them.  I spit on their graves.  Patoowey!  Patoowey!  Die Eliar and Gall!  Die!
Elisa will continue to wear that combination of an ugly halo braid and bouncy curls in spite of my recommendations.  Braulio and Lucio left Elisa and Gael some paperwork to review.  The documents are everything that they need to start a procesadora.   Gael says that it’s a lot for him to understand (He’s illiterate.  It’s what I’ve always suspected).  Anyways, Elisa agrees that it’s a lot, but tells him that they will review the documentation carefully.  Gael thinks that they should wait for Lucio and Braulio because he’s dumb.  Elisa finds a check that she signed twice to provide to Alfonsina’s lawyers.  Elisa wants to personally deliver the check to Alfonsina since Alfonsina has already provided the trust deeds.  Gael wants to go with her, but Elisa insists on going alone.  Gael tells her not to go alone because Alfonsina accused Elisa of attempted murder.  Elisa tells Gael that he’s just afraid that she’ll see Damien.  She tells him that their relationship will not work if he is gonna be insecure.  He agrees to let her go alone.
Hotel Room of Guido Landucci A nervous Ingrid visits Guido’s hotel room.  Perhaps the amount of money that she initially asked him for was too much, she says.  Guido wants to know why she’s so nervous.  She tells him that she needs the Benjamins now so that she can bounce out of La Ermita.  He opens a briefcase and shows her a heap of cash.  She practically pounces on the money and tells him that she will settle for half.  Guido ain’t no fool.  He tells her that she can have all of the money just has soon as she produces proof against Gabby.  She tries to convince him to give her the money right then so that she can skip town with his cash and not give him the evidence.   Guido tells her that she won’t get a penny of it until she produces undisputable evidence of his innocence.  She’ll return with the evidence at 8 PM.  Commercial.
Casa de Arango Office  Alfonsina enters her office in a rage.  Tonia trails in behind her.  Alfonsina tells her to get out and to block all visitors.  Guido calls and interrupts her tirade against Gabby.  She tells him that Gabby is trying to destroy her.  Guido was right when he warned her against Gabby.  Guido informs her that he’s about to get the goods on Gabby; he will see it with his own eyes at 8PM.  Alfonsina feels bad about putting him in jail.  Guido tells her that he really did love her.  Alfonsina wants to proof to put Gabby away for good.  He tells her to stop by at 8:30.
Casa de Don Lucio Gael tells Lucio that Elisa went to give Alfonsina the check.  Lucio knows that he’s busted.
Casa de Arango Tonia tries to get rid of Elisa, who is demanding to be chewed up by Alfonsina right now! Tonia tries telling Elisa that Alfonsina is in a very bad mood.  Upon hearing the commotion, Alfonsina emerges from her office and immediately zones in on her afternoon snack.  Elisa smiles and wants to personally thank her for giving back the deeds.  Elisa presents Alfonsina with a check which is promptly refused.   Alfonsina calls Elisa a hypocrite (Amen, Alfonsina!) and tells her to stop pretending as if she doesn’t know where the money came from.  Elisa says that it’s from the deposit that Gabby gave her father.  This merely pisses Alfonsina off.  Alfonsina laughs and tells Elisa that Gabby didn’t give Agosto any money.  Elisa tries giving her the check again.  Once again, Alfonsina refuses to take the money.  She won’t take a cent of it.  Alfonsina informs Elisa that Damien forked over the cash; she accuses Elisa of taking advantage of Damien.  Elisa doesn’t believe it.  Alfonsina tells her that Damien personally told her that he withdrew the money.  Alfonsina refuses again, so Elisa rips up the check in front of her.  Elisa is the least of Alfonsina’s problems today and she doesn’t have the patience for Elisa’s tears and shenanigans.   She calls some henchmen and has Elisa physically removed from the house.   Alfonsina flosses the Elisa meat out of her teeth.  Outside, Damien spots the two men dragging Elisa down the sidewalk and orders them to let her go.  Elisa tells Damien that his mother won’t take the money because he provided it.  Dam Fine lowers his head.  Elisa realizes that Alfonsina was telling the truth.  Commercial.
Casa de Arango Front Yard Elisa tells Damien that Lucio told her that her father put the account in her name before he died.  Dam Fine reminds her that she gave Lucio power-of-attorney, so he took advantage of it; he was only trying to help her.  He tells her to keep the money as a wedding present.  She says that she will not keep the money and will pay his mother back.  Elisa leaves with ugly curls bouncing.
Casa de Tovar Sabrina’s Bedroom Mrs. Kravitz enters Sabrina’s room.  Sabrina tells her mother to get out.  Mrs. Kravitz tells Sabrina that it’s her fault for not telling her that she was preggers.  Sabrina blames Mrs. Kravitz for her miscarriage.  Mrs. Kravitz tries comforting her daughter by telling her that she also lost her first baby.  Mrs. Kravitz tells Sabrina that it’s better this way because she can have her kids within wedlock.  Sabrina tells her mother that she has lost Paolo forever because he will leave her as soon as he learns that she is no longer knocked up.  Mrs. Kravitz tells Sabrina that Paolo loves her a lot.  Sabrina points out that Paolo hasn’t even come to see her.  Sabrina realizes that was Vincente said about Paolo was true.  Mrs. Kravitz tells her daughter to leave Vincente alone because he is the son of a maid.  Sabrina tells her mother that Vincente took her to Gabino’s hacienda.  Gabino is the new owner of the Beltran Hacienda.
Casa de Beltran Paolo tells Gabby that he likes his new digs; he notes that Gabby has already invested the money.  He’s needs a favor from Gabino; he wants to leave La Ermita today.   Gabino tells Paolo that Sabrina lost the baby.
Casa de Arango Alfonsina’s Bedroom Damien asks his mother why he told Elisa that the money came from him.  Alfonsina isn’t in the mood for his nonsense either.  She gets her Dam lunch fork ready.  She tells him that it’s obvious that Elisa convinced him to pay her debts.  Damien says that he did it without Elisa’s knowledge.  Alfonsina blames Damien for the miscommunication.  If she’d known if was a secret, she wouldn’t have told Elisa.  Damien accuses his mother of telling Elisa to hurt her.  He tells his mother to lay off Elisa.  Alfonsina tells him to leave her alone and get out of her room.  She doesn’t feel well; she needs to sleep.  Damien tells her not to make his and Florencia’s life hell while they are living with her.  Alfonsina flosses Damien meat out of her teeth.
Casa de Don Lucio Bored Meeting Everyone is sitting on one side of the table and frankly, it looks odd.  Lucio tells the team that Enrique wants to help start Elisa’s company.  Gall “Gael” says that he doesn’t trust Enrique.  Braulio vouches for Enrique and says that he did an excellent job at the Procesadora.  Also, Enrique can read, he’s been to college and he’s an agronomist engineer.  Enrique thanks Braulio for his kind words and explains that The Gall is just jealous of his relationship with Paloma.   Lucio says that Gall shouldn’t be jealous because he is about to marry Eliar, the girl of his dreams.  Gall says that he’s not jealous, he simply doesn’t understand what Enrique does, but if Braulio is willing to vouch for him, then he must be OK.    They shake hands.
Casa de Tovar Sabrina continues to lie in bed fiddling with her little yellow ducky.  Mrs. Kravitz enters and wants to know where Enrique went.  Mrs. Kravitz is going to have coffee with Carmina and she doesn’t want to leave her daughter alone.  Sabrina wants to know if Mrs. Kravitz is going to look for Paolo and ask him to come see her.  Mrs. Kravitz says that she called the Arango’s, but he wasn’t home.  She thinks that he might already be on his way.  Sabrina tells her mother to go since Carmina is more important than her.  Mrs. Kravitz is stressed after all that has happened and needs some fresh air.  Mrs. Kravitz offers to stay, but Sabrina tells her to leave.  Mrs. Kravitz believes that Enrique should be along shortly.
Casa de Don Lucio Bored Meeting Still no one has decided to utilize the empty side of the table.  Gall is still peeing on Enrique and trying to mark his territory.  Gael says that he had the same idea as Enrique.  Lucio says that they need all the help that they can get and says that Enrique is staying.
Casa de Tovar Paolo tells Sabrina to forget about marrying him since she lost the baby.
Casa de Don Lucio Bored Meeting I’m still bored because nothing is going on here.  They need some money.  Elisa comes in and Gall goes over to greet her with a kiss.  Someone tells her that Enrique is working for her now.  Elisa asks everyone to leave so that she can speak to her godfather.  Lucio lowers his head in shame.  Braulio and Enrique leave.  Gall stays.  Elisa knows that the money came from Dam Fine.  Elisa tells Lucio that she expected to be deceived by Damien, but not from him.  Elisa leaves and Gall follows her out.  Commercial.
Casa de Tovar Living Room Sabrina apologizes for losing the baby and begs Paolo to stay with her.  He tells her that he doesn’t love her and never has.  She tries hugging him.  He tells her that she’s unbearable and he can’t stand her.  She tries explaining that her mother gave her some wacky tea.  He tells her to thank her mother.  She clutches on to him.  He tells her that she’s ruining his shirt.  He says that she’s just like her mother and no one can stand her either.  He leaves.
Casa de Castanon Mrs. Kravitz is rattling on.  Carmina looks like she wants to shoot herself.  Mrs. Kravitz tells Carmina that Gabby purchased the Beltran Ranch.  Mrs. Kravitz asks if Carmina’s ever seen the inside.  Carmina says no.  Mrs. Kravitz mentions that Carmina has never been accepted by anyone in the village; she would have never been invited to the Beltran Ranch.  Mrs. Kravitz wonders how Gabby got the money to purchase the ranch.  Carmina tells her that Rosendo gave him the money to keep Alfonsina in the dark about his affair with her sister.  The phone rings.   Both women rush to answer it; however; Dolores reaches the phone first and announces that Paolo is on the line. Paolo wants to know if Carmina received the flowers.  He wants to know when they can see each other.  Carmina can’t give him a time since Mrs. Kravitz is standing there.  Mrs. Kravitz wants to know why Paolo is calling Carmina.  Carmina says that he wants to tell her something about Elisa.
Casa de Don Lucio Damien has rushed over 8 hours after his conversation with Elisa.  He informs Don Lucio that Elisa knows about their little deception.  Lucio tells Damien that Elisa cussed him out and gave him the guilt treatment.  He feels very guilty and says that he should have never listened to Damien.  Damien says that he will fix it.
Casa de Castanon Gall tells Elisa that she should have let him go with her.  He tells Elisa that when he sees Damien, he’s going to break his face.  Damien walks in.

That recap was Cynfully Delicious! Thank you.

My favorite lines:
-"Dr. Granny Ramona Clampett..."
-Your rant! LOL That was hysterical (in both the funny AND the loco sense, hope you are feeling better)
-Dam has rushed over 8 hours after his conversation with Elisa.

My favorite scene was Begonia and Carmina together. These two actresses are AMAZING! The look on Orange's face after Begonia said was so funny. She does not care about being accepted. She prefers to hob nob and slam bam with those who think burning contracts and putting guns to foreheads are good foreplay moves.

Paloma and Chente sure do look alike and could certainly pass as sibs. I wonder if they cast them that way.

Thanks again,
Rosemary la Otra

Thank you Rosemary la Otra, I do feel much better now.

Check out Elisa short shorts in this episode. They have got to be the shortest shorts she has ever worn, very colorful but so close to being beyond the beyond! Taste is not her strong suit.

Yes! I was wondering if when "Dam Fine lowers his head" it was out of shame for the money lie, or because he was embarrassed at what Elisa wore to his house.

Fine form,Cynderella! Boy, are these people going Loca or what? Must be the water.

I just love watching Gab and Alfi do their dance when they get all in each other's faces. The actors do such a fantastic job!

Unfortunately, the episode went downhill from there. Elisa acting like a brat, what else is new, Paloma being all pouty( I'm with Ramona--cut it already) and Sabrina and her mother being their usual insipid selves. The women in this TN really leave something to be desired. Thank goodness for Maru.

Then again the men aren't all stellar either. The young 'uns spend more time flying around the testerone that actually accomplishing anything. And oh yeah, we get some more of it on MOnday. Can you tell I'm so thrilled? Someone have a full bottle of a nice chardonnay at my patio table and I'll just imbibe while that nonsense is going on.

And then we get to watch Gweeedooo have a totally brain-dead moment and show II the cash. Really? Lets' see, II shows up at 8, Alfi at 8:30 to see her "love". With those previews, doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what will happen. The Gweeddoo table on the patio needs to prepare. :(

I am still at a lost how this TN is going to go for, what 40 plus episodes? The whining, the plots, are getting sooooo tired. I'm getting more excited about how Gab's new house winds up being decorated then anything else. That's sad.

Cynderella- I haven't even watched the episode yet, but I am laughing heartily at your descriptions of Alfie flossing verious people meat out of her teeth. LOL!

I am really confused about why Elisa is mad at Dam for saving her lands and giving her money on top of it, with NO strings attached (and anonymously), and why the heck Gael wants to break his face over it. Uhm...it's kind of the equivalent of winning the lottery, with, no pesky taxes to pay!!

And let's add for spouting off at Lucio, who has done nothing but support her and try to help her, she deserves one trip over someone's knee for a good spanking. Act like a child, get treated like a child. In fact, all four of them, including by dear Gael, should line up for a good wake up call to the rear-end.

Cynderella,

A masterful recap from your hysterical title to the finish.

I LOVED the names "Eliar and Gall" and so totally agree with you about these characters downward spiral. Elisa is acting ridiculous and Gael in that "bored" meeting was just obnoxious.

I was explaining to my 6 year old the other day what a "sore winner" is. Gael is a "sore winner". He has the prize, "Elisa", (although I think we can all agree it's not much of a prize) yet he is being a first class jerk to Damian, all pouty with Padre Lupe when he couldn't have the boda on the day HE wanted, he's turned into cling wrap with Elisa (not to mention lying to her when he said nothing significant happened with Paloma) and now he's taking pot shots at poor Enrique?

But I agree with others who love to see all the bad guys turn on each other.

Awesome recap, Cynderella! I thought of you earlier in the week when Gabs took his shirt off and had his steamy scene with Carmina! Sorry that didn't fall on your watch although maybe it would be too painful to recap your novio's betrayal?! :)

Thank you!

Katy

Thanks Katy. The thing that I likED about Gabby is that he is protective of Ingrid. OK, here me out. I know that he and Ingrid together are diabolically crazyville, but I still likED their relationship. He's a tramp, but he would treat Ingrid well (in his own way). I now don't like him because he screwed Carmina on the other side of the door while Ingrid was outside. I'm simply saysing that I don't like him today. As soon as he takes his shirt off, and I see his little fuzzy chest, I'm sure he will be back in my good graces.

Vivi, I didn't get why Elisa was so upset with Dam Fine either. Having a man pay off my debt and make his mother give me back my rightful property would have made my love come down. Ahem. In a lady-like way of course. He would have got a kiss or a thank-you or something.

I think Gael is jealous of Enrique because he's educated and that reminds him of Dam Fine who is also educated. I thinks he's jealous of Enrique for being with Paloma AND his education.

Thanks Cynderella, Alfonsina eating Dam and Elisa for dinner indeed. But they are easy prey.

I'm changing into a black dress at the Guido table. What do we drink at a funeral?

What a jerk Gael is being. Now he's picking on poor Enrique. Too bad this town only has 2 eligible young females in it.

I thought Gael got a college education too. So he didn't?

Nope. Gael started working for Augusto at a young age. Once Rosendo died, Padre stopped getting extra money to take care of things like Gael's education.

You know, I blame Padre for this. He should have at least pressured his sister to give him money for Gael...or else (he'd tell everyone the truth of Gael's paternity). I know it would have been blackmail and against his vows, but it was the least Gael deserved as Rosendo's child.

CathyX. I gave an overview, but during the bored meeting, Gael kept commenting on how they (Lucio, Braulio and Gael) had to work for a living and learn the land with their backs, while some people got educated. That's why Lucio told Gael that Enrique was staying no matter what.

Paolo was so gratuitously mean to Sabrina. But, on the other hand, that might have been the only way she would have gotten the message - I used you, I don't like you, I think your are boring.

Did I see a little light go on in Begona's brain when Carmina talked to Paolo on the phone? She misses the real point of everything. There could be just a little hope that she might be on to Carmina.

Really - why doesn't Gab just let Ing go? Isn't his true score Carmina? I really don't understand why Ing is so nervous with Guido. She's a big girl and not new to the grifter game. What have I missed here?

Cynderella: You write very clever recaps.

Wow...hot recap and hot discussion. No neutrals here, nossirreee.

Loved Cynderell'as quip about Alfonsina. [She] "immediately zones in on her afternoon snack" [Elisa]...

and "she gets her Dam lunch fork ready".

I'll skip the dental floss jokes, too graphic for me...but not for Rosemary la Otra! LOL

Now, as usual, Daisynjay and I are going to have a little squabble about Paloma. (Daisynjay is always nice about it, so I feel safe piping up as Devil's Advocate)

I thought Ramona was absolutely awful. She came in there absolutely looking for a fight. And then ripped into her granddaughter, who was understandably "down", told her she was indecent and mocked her for making love with someone who tossed her aside. With a Granny like that, who needs enemies?

Lord, no wonder the poor girl has low self-esteem. No wonder she considered suicide. That just really really got my maternal dander up.

Whew!. Now I feel better.

And Daisynjay, I know you'll understand. We each have our own point of view. But I still love ya. Ramona, not so much.

And Cynderella...sorry that Gabino has riled you. He better rip that shirt off real soon so you can forgive him.

Pasofino, I think that Ingrid is nervous because she knows that Alfonsina is coming after her. Sometime in the pass, she mentioned that Alfonsina can have her killed. I don't think that she's nervous about the con, I think she sincerely wants to leave because of Alfonsina. Alfonsina told Gabby to get rid of her, so she pays for people to disappear. I think. Next week, I could be proven wrong...who knows?

Cynderella thanks for another great recap of another filler episode. I particularly enjoyed your renaming of the horrible mess E/G.

ITA w/daisynjay that the best part of the evening was the face-off b/t Gab and Fina. I had to LOL when she called him names b/c its not like she hasn't been behind a lot of his mess (and he told her so too). And that the episode was like the bored mtg.

Vivi - you couldn't understand Elair being mad at Dam b/c you have sense.

Pasofino - I too thought what Paolo said to Sabrina was horrible but I think he had to go there b/c she (and her mother) would have misinterpreted anything else.

Judy, did I make a tasteless dental floss joke that I don't remember? lol I am not much into dental floss humor, nor do I wear dental floss panties.

I do agree with Judy on Ramona being too harsh to Paloma. Everyone needs someone in their court, and girls need that someone to remind them how strong and independent they are. Now is the time Pobre Paloma needs extra encouragement, not a tongue lashing. No wonder she's so moody.

I am not as upset with Gael as some of you are. I get where he's coming from. I just wish he'd find someone away from La Ermita. Maybe that cute gal who lives on the beach with her daughter that I'd hoped Gustavo from LQNPA would wind up with. Sorry, crossing swords here. But, that's what Gael needs. Someone new who will appreciate the love he has to give. Gael is too good for Elisa, IMO.

R la O

This was a good episode, any time someone backs Alfie down is a joyful moment for me!

It isn't so much what Ramona said to Paloma in this episode, it is the herbal bruja's ability to ALWAYS twist a (pin!) knife in an open wound! Who would go to her for emotional support, not me...

I saw Elisa's rejection of "the check" as a feminist  move.   Dan Stupid quickly jumped into Flo's bed, why would she want his dinero? Dam shouldn't have coerced Don Lucio into such a big lie, as it unfolded, it was ugly. I hope Elisa forgives Lucio quickly, he was just trying to help.

The Gael/Lucio/Enri/Brau meeting was so realistic. Who hasn't seen a "Gael" with insecurities/hidden agendas slow down the progress of a room full of people!!!

Cynderella, ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! I loved every word, every sentence and every paragraph.

If Elisa were actually capable of getting herself out of these situations, then I'd be upset and see it as a feminist issue. But she is one dumb bunny, and if Dam hadn't interceded secretly, she would have been in debt, without land, and out on the streets. Plus, there hasn't been a time yet where she hasn't turned to a man (her dad, Lucio, Gael, and even Dam) to help solve her problems. It's not like Dam helping her is any different than her previous MO.

Gosh no Rosemary la Otra...YOU didn't make a dental floss joke....Cynderella did...and then I misspoke..it was Vivi who quoted the line about Alfonsina flossing Dam and Elisa out of her teeth, and enjoying that juicy image.

PERDONAME, QUERIDA AMIGA!

I'm a little bummed about dental floss because I keep finding it around my house...for some reason my husband leaves it lying around instead of tossing it in the trash. NOT my idea of re-cycling.

Ah, Judy, what's this forum for but friendly discussion-- which means sometimes fun disagreements. Love you always. Sending along a mental image of a shortless Gab just for you.

Ramona has always been hard on all the young 'uns, and especially on Pal since she wanted her to so badly NOT to get into the same situations her mother had. But I would love to see Pal just put a smile on her face and move on. She says she's over it, etc. but she is so obviously not. And she's at work--be professional.

To tell you how bored I was watching the "board" meeting, I started wondering "where the heck is Horatio"? Must be still walking back to town?

Sorry, darn cat sitting near keyboard, meant to say SHIRTLESS, but then again.....

LOL Daisy! Horacio - "Must he still be walking back to town?" and "shortless" Gabino. lol

I so don't think Gabino is sexy like some of our amigas, but...I do like his...how to describe it?...thrusting worm-like move that he does when he's trying to sweeten a woman up. See? I'm demonstrating.

Judy - that's okay. Sometimes I comment after Happy Hour and wondered what graphic comment I'd made and forgotten about. Of course it was Vivi! You know Vivi! jk Vivi.

Hey R la O, what's all this about a job interview??? (I swear, you wander off the patio to commune with the moose for a few days and you miss EVERYTHING...)

Vivi, " Plus, there hasn't been a time yet where she [Elisa] hasn't turned to a man (her dad, Lucio, Gael, and even Dam) to help solve her problems." Yes, you're right about that.  Farming is a male- centric business. If Elisa had put more energy into her clothing design business, with her natural emphasis on elegance and universal wearability, she would certainly have an international label by now and no money problems.  (Ha!)  Dam was trying to help, but having Alfie unmercifully pull the rug out from under her was devastating. I'm probably Dam Stoopid too, but I wouldn't have taken the Dam money either!

RlaO LOL!! I like to slip in my graphic comments sparingly...that way no one knows it's me. I'm like a graphic comment ninja.

I think I know why Elisa wears those tiny shorts (and yes the ones this episode were ridiculous). They are the same shorts she had when she as 8 years old, when her mom died! She's attached to them because they remind her the the few years she had her mama with her. That has to be it right?...Because those shorts clearly belong to a little kid.

Gael is jealous of Enrique because Enrique is a) the only guy in town that has paid attention to Paloma; b) the only guy in town Paloma has paid attention to besides Gael; c) educated & could give Paloma a good life.

Gael thinks Paloma is his "In case of Emergency" girl. You know, the chick you really don't care about or have much respect for, but you know she's sweet on you, and you go to her when you want some sex or a shoulder to lean on when the girl you really want is ignoring you...because you know she'll never turn you away. And the moment someone you like turns your head, you'll toss the ICOE girl out quicker than a dirty piece of Reynolds Wrap.

If Paloma gets involved with Enrique, she won't be Gael's ICOE girl anymore. Enrique wouldn't stand for it.

I guarantee if Gael & Elisa did marry, and Gael got frustrated with Elisa not having sex with him or laying there like a dead fish when they are having sex (shades of Lucia on LFDD), that he'll run to Paloma and try to get some nookie out of her. Because he thinks she's so desperate & weak that she'll fall for it, and he'd probably be right.

I think that's why Ramona (who is not a soft/cuddly person to begin with) is so harsh with Paloma b/c it's not sinking in Paloma's head that she's nothing more than Gael's ICOE girl.

That's why Paolo's harshness with Sabrina is actually good for Sabrina because his harshness will snap her out of her fantasy world. Perhaps she'll reevaulate herself and stop thinking so badly of Elisa.

Ha ha, Vivi, that explains the shirts, too.

Thanks Daisynjay...not believing that story about the cat at all. Short-less works for me. And shirtless too. I'm smiling all over....ALL OVER.

Someone needs to rip Elisa a new one b/c she's acting like a bitch victim, you know, the chick that is a secret shark but pretends to be the victim:

Nobody forced her to mortgage her greenhouse to Alfonsina, especially after Lucio told her SEVERAL times to mortgage her lands as collateral to get a loan to rebuild the greenhouse. She refused every single time. Augusto gave her the pearl necklace to sell to raise the bail money but she refused. So she makes a deal with Alfonsina, whom she knows is a dirty double crosser, and cries VICTIM when Alfonsina double crosses her. I wish Alfonsina had refused Damian's offer and taken Elisa's lands, forcing her to leave town.

She screws over Paloma, knowing that Paloma had loved & wanted Gael forever, tries to justify her doublecross by citing Enrique, and then crying to Lupe about HER feelings and what SHE wants. What about Paloma's feelings?

Elisa gets all Billy Bad Ass on Ingrid (who she knows will be her mother in law) for really no reason...in the name of Gael, of course.

And why exactly Gael? Because she knows it will piss off Damian.

Lastly, this "You're married to Florencia" business is pure tomfoolery because Elisa knew Damian had taken back up with Flor and was ready to run away with him behind Flor's back until Alfie & Carmina stopped them...which Carmina was stoopid to do because she would have finally gotten rid of Elisa and had everything...you think Elisa would have come back to La Ermita after running off with Damian?

If Elisa's going to be a bitch, be a bitch and own it. Don't bite and when somebody claps back, play the victim.

**arrgh**

Anon207- You go girl!

That's funny, Vivi! Maybe Assgusto never gave her clothing money so she's still squeezing into, and out of, her 8 year old wardrobe.

Blue - I HAVE missed a lot! About the interview, I am so glad I got good pointers, they came in handy, especially Marta and Sylvia reminding me that the job has to fit me too. It didn't. Nor do I think they were blown away by me. The interview only lasted 1/2 hour! Is it possible I'm not as delightful as I think I am?

Blue - like the Orange avatar! It looks much more cool and refreshing than the sweaty, glowing one in the white dress.

They knew they couldn't have you, R la O. They were just trying to hide their devastation.

I decided I'd better get with the comestibles theme. That's my media naranja. ;}

Wow - great stuff Anon207! No wonder Eliar and Gall annoy the heck out of me. Thanks for the names, Cynderella, and welcome back. So sorry you got cheated out of last Friday. Glad you made up for it this time, I really enjoyed your rants.

Awesome recap, as always, Cynderella! top to bottom!
Rosemary la O:
LOVED:
I was wondering if when "Dam Fine lowers his head" it was out of shame for the money lie, or because he was embarrassed at what Elisa wore to his house.

i too felt the shorts were WAY TOO SHORT..

as to the 'board meeting'... I hated Gael's behavior BEFORE, DURING and AFTER the meeting, thoroughly deserved the responses from Quique and for Lucio to put his foot down and overcall Gael saying Quique was in, regardless of Gael's opinion and shutting him up.
ITA that it is possible that Gael is going against Quique for the three reasons listed (he likes Paloma, Paloma is not indifferent toward him, and he has the education (moral and academic) that Gael should be showing (moral one given by Loopy) or should have had (academic since he is Rosie's son).
I agree with Ramona on her sermoning Paloma, which goes well beyond mentioning the losing her virginity, Paloma has not woken up from the obsession with Gael, and Ramona just wanted to make it clear to her that Gael was considering her his ICOE girl, whether consciously or not.

LOVED the fact that Alfie seems so stressed out now that her house of cards of all she has done to keep Dam and Elisa apart is in jeopardy. She cannot do anything against II because that could make Gab spill the beans, Alfie does not really know exactly what relationship they have so she would not risk it.

Agree that II fears for her life mostly because of Alfie having strong reasons to make her dissappear, which she has been ordering/paying Gab to do for long time now.

I know Gael has not been behaving correctly lately, and i also agree with Elisa that it is for fear of losing her even though she has agreed to marry him. I hope the confrontations between Gael and Damian cause Loopy or someone, maybe II, to spill the beans. But i also fear it will be on a 'life saving payback' scenario.

BeGoneYa and Carmina, yes definitely that was a memorable scene... acting there was superb.

Cynderella - Thank you for the recap. Somehow, this episode felt like "filler" to me.

Elisa is dumber than a box of rocks. She's more stoopid than the short shorts she wears. I really do not care what happens to her and her little ferret-face galán, Damian.

Speaking of short shorts . . . we were at the county fair last weekend and ALL the young girls were wearing them. Some were so short, the pockets were longer and hanging below the hems. Every pair reminded me of Eweepsa. Gah!
(BTW, the fair was great... I sampled fried Oreos (yum) and fried Twinkies (not as wonderful as the fried Oreos) and had a blast looking at the farm animals. ;o)

I've always liked and appreciated your line of thinking, Anon207.

Keep up the good work.

Vivi, that was good regarding the shorts. Right on the money!!! I was wondering, where did Gweedo get that suitcase full of money? I missed that one. Wasn't he penniless due to his business gone bad in Mexico? Please enlighten me.Also why are somethings get forgotten for a while and nary a mention of them such as Horacio who escaped and is still now missing? and also not to forget when Kenia was killed by Carmina, she went missing too for a while and then nobody even cared whether she was missing or not.

Vida2, a few episodes ago, Guido was on the phone with some business associate and he was asking if he could borrow money. We only heard one side of the convo, but it appeared the associate agreed to give it to him. Regarding Horacio, I am guessing that my esteemed patio pals are correct in guessing he is going to lay low until the ultimate semanas when he will stumble back into town and kill one of the super bad guys, probably sacrificing himself in the process. I don't think he could do anything for the plot until the end. But others feel free to jump in!

Begonia is really in for a rude awakening when the truth comes out about Carmina. Not only did she betray Begonia (Gordo), she betrayed her daughter (Paolo). Isn't that some kind of TN record to be the other woman for a mother AND daughter?!

Katy

About the board meeting: Wouldn't Paloma have been thrilled to hear two guys fighting over her? That would shake her depression. Maybe
LUCIO will blab about it to
PADRE, who will spill it to
ALFI, who will taunt
BEGONIA about it, who will go whining to the
DOC, who will bend down and kiss
PALOMA's cheek and tell her. And that is why she swallowed the fly, perhaps she'll die.

Good thinking, Rosemary, but i have a feeling that kind of flattery would hurt Paloma in the long run instead of helping her.

Sorry to be so late, Cynderella, but I want you to know that this recap got my Mon. morning off to a rollicking start. You are so wickedly wonderful.

I think the part of the episode that I enjoyed the most was the initial servile stance that Gabino took as he tried groveling to Alfy. He followed her to her car all hunched over and looking up at her like some Dickens character before he realized that standing up to her with threats might be more effective.

Well... poor Guido... he'll be missed.

Carlos

Carlos, you think Guido is the next to go down? i have my money on II.

Marta, although I really can't think of why the writers are doing this, I'm virtually certain that we'll see him go down tonight. It seems so pointless.

Carlos

Well, now that we have a death sweepstakes, I guess I'll have to watch. Maybe they'll take each other out.

Mixing up a pitcher of "Devil's Handshakes" right now:

1 1/2 parts tequila
3/4 parts lime juice
1/2 part simple syrup
1 part pineapple juice
1 tsp sweet ginger puree
1/4 part egg white
Lime wedge for garnish

Wow. That sounds divine Blue Lass. 'Course I would have to have mine without the tequila or I'd sleep all the way through the show!

Judy, for you we'll add a couple espresso beans.

yeah i will have whaqt SHE's having!... LOL Blue Lass, you rock! i really need to get knocked out myself tonight.

Cynderella, this recap was a scream. Loved loved loved it! So sorry for the late comment but I just this minute caught up on last week's episodes and read your recap.

Gotta say that even with all this extra fillergarbage (French pronunciation please) you did a stellar job making the long, drawn-out scenes interesting and enjoyable. I very much enjoyed your rant on whiny Elisa, and I enjoyed the scene where she was dragged out of Casa Harango. Fun stuff.

Begonia and Carmina - also my favorite scene. Agree with R la O, the actresses are amazing. It's the only scene I didn't FF through.

cathyx, I fear I will be joining you the RIP Guido table. He really should NOT have shown II that case full of money.

Novela Maven, I now wish Guido would have stowed away with me. He would be a lot safer on the water than in La Ermita...sniff.

R la O, thanks for the job update. Funny how you were not enamored when you got to explore it up close and personal-like. By they way, I am CERTAIN you are as delightful as you know you are.

Blue Lass, love your citrus-y avatar. And thank you for the yummy drink recipe. I'm ordering one for the patio right now. Something tells me we're gonna need it!

I'm thinking we need to mix up a pitcher of those bad boys! Thanks, Blue Lass.

Blue - Devil's Handshakes sound heavenly, except I don't know what "simple syrup" is, and do people actually puree ginger? Also, good thing it is only 1/4 part egg white as 3/4 of my egg white always seems to have egg yolk in it.

I remember reading "CHUG". On what scene, or word do we actually chug?

Sylvia - thanks for the vote of confidence. I wish I were as delightful as you think I know I am.

R la O

R la O you really crack me up with that rhyme/song. That should be the featured song of this tn. Was it Jimmy Rogers that sang it? Thanks for the feedback Katy regarding that money. I'm afraid for Gweedo too. He's seems such a good man.
