Abismo de pasión #116 8/24/12: When Little Men Stand Up, Big Men Will Always Listen!

Team Dam vs. Team Gall: Who's the Biggest User?
Team Sabrina vs. Team Paloma:  Who Would Make the Best Unwilling/Unknowing Surrogate Mother for Florencia's Baby?
Team Lupe vs. Team Gabby:  Who will make the better Grandfather?
Clinic Reception Desk:  Paloma recalls the uncomfortable, zero-chemistry, love scene between she and Gall (Gall).  Paloma tells Gall that they will not be seen or interrupted in the closet behind the beaded curtain.  Gall begs her to let him go; he loves another woman.  Paloma tells Gall that she can’t let him go because she loves him.  Paloma will help him to understand that he doesn’t love Elisa as much as he loves her.  Paloma drops her bloomers and orders him to leave if he doesn’t feel anything for her.  Unfortunately, before the bloomers hit the floor, Little Gall had developed very strong feeling for Paloma.   Gall’s heart says that he loves Elisa.  His mind tells him to hit the pavement and never return, but Little Gall is standing firm; he refuses to leave.  He wants to stay with the bloomers.  Paloma’s daydreams are abruptly interrupted when Dr. Tovar, who has a business to run, enters the reception area.    He wants to know when his next appointment will arrive.  Dr. Tovar is very concerned about his marginal employee; she’s been extremely distracted lately.  Paloma wants to ask him a question, but can’t bring herself to form the words.  The doctor wants to know if she’s feeling bad or if she’s sick?  She ends up telling him that it’s not important.  A patient interrupts them.
Casa de Maru:  It’s lunch time and Elisa has found Maru at her home.  Elisa is very worried about Don Lucio’s sex-life.  As far as she knows, he hasn’t had any freaky female companionship since Blanca fried died.  He needs an experienced, worldly, slutty, hot-to-trot, older, woman like you, says Elisa to Maru.  From various rumors that Elisa’s heard, Lucio likes to be handcuffed, called Padrino and spanked with a large wooden spoon.  Maru doubts Lucio’s interested in her.  Lucio hasn’t looked at Maru or called her in months.  She says that Lucio has put a wall up between them.  Elisa disagrees and tells Maru be patient with him.  Elisa tells Maru that Blanca spoke well of her and liked her a lot.  Blanca would be pleased that he is boinking Maru.  Elisa tells Maru to fight for Lucio, if she loves him.  Maru tells Elisa that Damien is depressed too.  Elisa gets up to leave and asks Maru to think about what they’ve discussed.
Hacienda de Arango:  Florencia and Alfonsina are back from Mexico City.  Florencia is carrying her wedding gown.  Tonia greets them at the door and asks about the fake baby.  Alfonsina gushes that her non-existent grandson is precious and very healthy.  Florencia wants to know if Damien is in the house.  No, Damien hasn’t returned home from work yet.  Florencia asks Tonia to put the wedding dress in her bedroom.  Alfonsina tells Florencia that Florencia and Damien will marry next weekend.  They still need to plan the menu.  Florencia says that she’s not interested; she doesn’t care what’s served at the party.  Alfonsina should choose.  Alfonsina says, it’s not a party, Florencia.  It’s your religious wedding ceremony and the most important day of your life.  Florencia isn’t thrilled about marrying a man that doesn’t love her.  Alfonsina reminds Florencia that her father died five months ago and says that Florencia needs to get over it.  Florencia asks to be excused.  She’s tired from the trip and wants to be alone.
Cenote: While sitting alone, on a rock, in the dark, where Paolo once tried to rape her, Elisa remembers a happier in the time in the cenote when she and Damien were making goo goo eyes at each other.  They were soaking their little tootsies in the water while on the most boring date EVER. During the flashback scene, they discussed the time, as children, when they planned to runaway to the ocean, but Gabino stopped them and took them back to Alfonsina.  Damien told Elisa that it doesn’t matter what his mother said.  The two will be together forever.  Conveniently, when her mind returns to the present, Elisa is disturbed by the real Dam Fine.  Damien, who thinks he’s king of the frickin’ cenote, wants to know why she’s there.  Elisa stands up and attempts to rush pass him, but Damien, grabs her arm and demands to know why she is marrying Gall.  None of your business, says Elisa.  Damien insists on getting an answer.  Elisa is marrying Gall because he’s honest and he loves her.  Damien wants to know if Elisa loves Gall.  Yes, she says.  I’m deeply and madly in love with him.
Casa de Tovar:  Once again, Dr. Granny Ramona Clampett has come to consult with Dr. Tovar about Paloma’s mental health.  She compliments him on his home’s décor.  Dr. Tovar reveals that his ex-wife decorated it even though they have been divorced for two months.  Ramona tells him that Mrs. Kravitz (Begona) probably still loves him.  Decorating the house is just a way to be near him.  Dr. Tovar doubts it and changes the subject.  Ramona came to his house because she wants to speak with him when Paloma’s not around.  Paloma’s not acting right.  Dr. Tovar says that Paloma is simply lovesick.  He assures Ramona that Paloma will get over it.  Ramona says that Paloma is not getting better, she’s getting worse.  Ramona wants the doctor to keep an eye on Paloma.  Dr. Granny doesn’t want to give her granddaughter any herbs because she might try killing herself again.  Ramona wants the doctor to give Paloma a complete check-up so that Ramona will have peace of mind.
Church Confessional:  Paloma wants to confess a sin that she does not regret committing.  This is an exercise in futility.  This falls more under the category of bragging.  Gall and I hooked up twice and I loved every minute of it, she says.  Padre seems surprised.  Two times?  Yeah, I seduced him.  The first time we did it, we were going together.  The second time was when I was trying to convince him that he loves me, but I was wrong.  He was only using me because Elisa doesn’t put out.    Padre says that Gall is also responsible.  Did she hold a gun on him and force him to strip while he was engaged to Elisa?  No, but it was all her fault!  Her body was completely irresistible to Gall (well, at least until Little Gall was finished having sex with her).  Afterwards, he grabbed his hat and hurried back into the arms of Elisa.  Padre says that Ramona will probably freak when she finds out.  Paloma says that Ramona knows about the first time, but not the second.  Paloma tells Padre that they hooked up three weeks ago and she might be preggers.  Commercial.
Cenote:  Is it the humidity?  Damien’s hair is really flat tonight. Damien accuses Elisa of lying to him.  He reminds Elisa that she’s always said that she only loves Gall like a brother.  Feelings change, says Eliar. She tells him that her feelings for him have changed as well.  He hurt her so much, that he killed all of the love that she feels for him.  With tears in her eyes, she unconvincingly tells Damien that she doesn’t love him.  He grabs her face, pulls her close and lovingly head-butts her (he always does this move to stop himself from ravishing her lips).  Damien tells her that he loves her like crazy. He doesn’t know if he can stand her marrying anyone who is not him.  Beso!  Beso!  Sorry, no beso this time!  Let me go!  She struggles out his arms.  Elisa reminds Dam that he has a wife and fake baby on the way.  Elisa leaves because her fiancé is waiting for her.
Church Confessional:  Paloma knows that Ramona will kill her when she finds out about the maybe baby.  Paloma won’t be able to hide it much longer.  Padre tells Paloma that Gall needs to know about his maybe baby so that he can take full responsibility.  Paloma doesn’t want to tell Gall because he feels more for Elisa than he feels for her.  Gall made the decision to get hitched with Elisa and Paloma will accept that.  She doesn’t want him to come back to her just because she might be pregnant.  She doesn’t want to be like Florencia, who trapped Damien.  Padre reiterates that Gall should know about his maybe baby.  Paloma doesn’t want Gall to find out about the baby until after he marries Elisa.  Padre says that he will talk with Gall.  Padres upset because she burdened him with her secret.  She apologizes and explains that she just needed someone to brag talk to.  Paloma runs out before he absolves of her sins (but then again, that wasn’t the purpose of her visit).
Casa de Castanon:  The Gall to be Jealous is waiting in the foyer to confront Eliar.  He wants to know where she’s been.  She said that she went to talk to Maru about hooking up with Lucio.  Gall wants to know where they talked.  At her house, says Elisa.  Gall suspects that she went to the Procesadora.  He doesn’t want her going places where she might see Damien and boink him (like he boinked Paloma).  Elisa tells Gall that she can’t avoid seeing Damien because La Ermita is Podunk and BFE.  Gall wants to move.  Elisa tells him that they will not move.  If Gall is going to be insecure, they’d better call the wedding off.  Somewhere during this conversation, I think Elisa acknowledges seeing Damien, but I don’t know when.
Hacienda de Arango:  A long day of feigning pregnancy symptoms and lugging around a heavy prosthetic baby hump can be exhausting for anyone, I know.  Florencia, hoping she will be repulsive to her husband, lounges in bed, wearing a hideous floral mumu.   Sometime later, Damien quietly enters her bedroom.  Florencia tells Damien that the baby is fine and he can get more information from his mother.  Little Dam immediately perks up when he spots Florencia lying in bed and wearing such a fetching floral negligee!  Little Dam senses an opportunity for Big Dam to redeem himself after striking out with Elisa at the cenote.   They can still have a mutually satisfactory ending to an evening that started off so badly.  He reminds Damien to say something complimentary to his wife and encourages him to loosen a few more buttons.  Your abs and your chest are your best assets, says Little Dam.  Florencia is a sure thing!  She’s in bed, she’s your wife, she’s already pregnant, she’s desperate and she’s available.  Score!  Damien heeds his little friend’s advice and sits at the foot of her bed.  In order to achieve his goal, he will have to talk to his wife and pretend to be interested in her.  He braces himself and asks Florencia to tell him about the baby.  Florencia tells him she’s tired.  Strike one!  He asks why she won’t sleep with him; she’s been distant lately (i.e. Little Dam is not happy and feels deflated).  Florencia laughs and reminds him that several months ago, she was the one who wanted his “special attention”.  Damien tries apologizing.  He realizes that her frigidness is his fault.  Strike two!  She points out that Damien is the one that suggested separate bedrooms and says that he hasn’t touched her in months.  She shuts him down and says that she needs to be alone to get over the death of her father and hide her fake pregnancy.  Damien tries to touch her belly; he wants to feel his son.  Strike three!  Quicker than you can say fake hijo, she grabs his hand in a vice-like grip in order to prevent him from touching the prosthetic bump.  She gets up and locks the door behind him.  Penalty for ruffing up the umpire!  Dam Fine is banned from the stadium!
Casa de Castanon:  Elisa and Dolores discuss Gall’s nerve.  Elisa is disgusted with Gall for not trusting her.  Dolores thinks Gall’s jealousy is normal.  Elisa disagrees because she is not giving him any reasons to be insecure.  Dolores tells Elisa that Gall and everybody else knows that Elisa loves Damien.  Elisa believes that Gall just wants to be with Paloma.  Elisa says that she doesn’t want to marry a jealous and possessive man like Agosto.  Dolores tells Elisa not to play with Gall’s feelings.  If she has doubts, tell him and let him go.
Church:  Padre ardently prays for the birth control/condom shipments to break through the UN sanctioned military blockade.  Ever since the sanctions were enforced against La Ermita, there has been an outbreak of accidental pregnancies (Florencia, Florencia again, Sabrina and now Paloma).  Gall enters and interrupts the prayer.  Padre asks Gall if he is completely sure that he wants to marry Elisa.  Gall wants to know why he’s asking.  Padre tells Gall to answer the question.  Gall says that Elisa is the love of his life and makes the sign of the cross.  Gall thanks God for giving him an opportunity with Elisa.   Padre asks if Gall feels guilty about Paloma.  Gall says that he was completely honest with her; Little Gall was not.  Padre tells Gall not to lie to him.  He wants to know if Gall has done anything that he should be ashamed of.  Commercial.
Church Again:  Hmmmm.  Unfortunately, no lightning bolts have struck Gall yet!  Again, Padre asks Gall if he is certain that he should marry Elisa.  Does he need to clear his conscience before marrying Elisa?  Gall is uncomfortable with Padre’s tone and questions.  Padre tells Gall that he will not officiate the wedding and no one will convince him otherwise.  He won’t be part of this atrocity.  He says that Damien will need to get another priest as well.  Padre leaves; Gall kisses his rosary and listens for sounds of rolling thunder.
Clinic Reception Desk:  Paloma hands the doctor the patient files.  Doctor thinks that she might be losing her appetite because she has a parasite.  Paloma asks how he knows that she hasn’t been eating.    Dr. Tovar tells Paloma that Ramona is worried about her because she’s been moping around.  Paloma finally tells the Dr. Tovar that she might have a bun in the oven.  He writes an order for her to take a pregnancy test.
Hacienda de Arango Damien’s Bedroom:  Finally, some Dam skin is exposed! Alfonsina walks in and ruins the moment.  She wants to know why he and his wife sleep in separate bedrooms.  Damien says that he swore he wouldn’t have a marriage like his parents’, but his marriage is worse than theirs.  Alfonsina says that things will be different after the baby is born.  Alfonsina asks how things are going at the Procesadora.  Damien says that they’ve lost two suppliers and Gabby hasn’t produced a harvest on his land.   Damien wants to know where Damien got enough money to buy a ranch.  Alfonsina tells Damien to investigate Gabby if he thinks that Gabby ripped them off.  Damien says that Guido might have been right.  Damien says that they need investors because they might go bankrupt soon.  Alfonsina wants to keep the company private and tells Damien to look for another option.
Casa de Castanon:  Gall is waiting in the living room for Elisa, who is wearing the ugliest outfit that I have ever seen on her.  He apologizes for how he acted last night, but at no point during the apology does he mention that he had sex with Paloma…dos veces.  If Damien wasn’t expecting a baby, he believes that Elisa would not marry him (well….duh!)  Elisa tells Gall that he has no reason to feel insecure.  Gall tells Elisa that Padre will not conduct their wedding ceremony.
Hacienda de Agango Living Room Padre and his sister are fighting.  He’s just informed Alfonsina that he will not officiate the Arango/Landucci wedding and nothing that she says will change his mind. Padre doesn’t want to perform a loveless wedding.  Padre tells her that Damien will turn out like Rosendo; she knows how a marriage like that turns out.  Damien walks in and wants to know why his mother and uncle are arguing.  His mother informs him that Padre will not officiate at the church wedding.  Commercial.
Black Widow’s Peak:  Was there a sale at the mall?  Carmina is also wearing an ugly floral mumu!  While Carmina is seated at a vanity, brushing the mange from her hair, Dolores announces that Gabby is there to see her.  Carmina asks Dolores to tell Gabby to wait for her.  She wants Dolores to offer him some refreshments.
Hacienda de Arango Poolside:  It’s breakfast time and Florencia is turning out to be an extremely irritable and moody fake pregnant woman. She tells Alfonsina that she doesn’t want to marry in the same church and in the same spot where her father’s funeral was held.   She also objects to Alfonsina calling her the endearment, hija.  Alfonsina tells Florencia that Padre will not officiate the ceremony because he is working on his transfer.  Florencia wants to know if Damien knows.   Florencia agrees to have the wedding at the Casa de Arango chapel.  Diabla Alfonsina has a church on her property?  Who knew?
Black Widow’s Peak:  Carmina is not happy to see Gabby.  Carmina reminds him that while Ingrid is living in the lap of luxury, Carmina’s maid spits at her.  Gabby told Carmina that he bought the property for Carmina.  Gabby says Ingrid being there is Carmina’s fault.  There are things that Little Gabby needs and Little Gabby needs them available to him every night.  Little Gabby is upset that Carmina has ignored his needs; he misses her “special attention”.   Gabby can’t stop thinking about her; she’s like crack to him.  Apparently, Carmina was not impressed with their mating session.  Her thoughts return to the cash.  He’s been working on her land for months and they have not turned a profit.  Gabby says there’s some sort of plague on the land.  Carmina could care less.  She demands some results and some cold hard cash.  Gabby brings out a copy of the contract and tells her that having sex with her wasn’t good enough for him to lose his mind and destroy the contract.  He’s not dumb enough to give up all that property when he can get sex from any woman… on any corner.   Gabby shows her a copy of the contract between him and Agosto.
Rectory:  Paloma has come to visit Padre.  He thinks that she’s there to get her absolution and makes the sign of the cross over her.  Paloma reminds him that she doesn’t regret having sex with Gall!  Again, I don’t think Paloma understands the concept of the confessional.  Paloma tells the Padre that she is definitely, 100% preggers.  The rabbit is road kill.  Florencia might be expecting a real baby afterall!  Paloma tells Padre that she will speak to Gall.  Right then, the happy couple, Gall and Eliar enter the office.   Padre tells Gall and Eliar that Paloma has something very important to tell them.

Thanks for the recap! I'm a visitor here. I used to watch a few other shows a few years ago, but I got into this one three weeks ago. Thanks for taking the time to give such a thorough recap!

Thanks, Netgirl! I appreciate it.

By the way, the references to the "little men" standing tall and firm were HIlarious!!

I'm late by a day, but I also wanted to mention that I thought that it has been strange to see 8 bags of tortilla chips hanging out in the kitchen of 3 relatively thin women. (And after all of that, I couldn't read the brand ...Tochi___?)

Thanks again for the recap!
(I also watch Amor Bravio.)

Thanks Cynderella, I noticed a lot of the same things you did. Did Paloma realize that she was confessing to Gael's Dad?
Elisa is marrying Gael because he's honest? Yikes, he really isn't. See Paloma's tummy. And Ramona, you're usually so perceptive about people. Don't you realize Paloma's condition?

I thought the same thing about Dam's hair. Too much brill cream.

I thought Elisa did confess to seeing Dam, but that Gael needs to get over it because La Ermita is a small town and they're bound to run into each other.

I loved your description of the scene with Dam and Flo in her room. It was hilarious. Big Dam struck out because he forgot to take his shirt off. Do fake baby bumps feel warm to the touch?

I agree about so many unwanted pregnancies in La Ermita. They don't teach about contraception in school in this town or probably any school in Mexico.

No Horacio today. I was hoping they would formulate a plan and get started on it.

Cynderella, your recaps are always so much fun and so worth anticipating on a Saturday morning! I loved your title and your, um, literary device. Should have known wooden spoons would come in at some point.

But now I'm off to watch the episode because I have got to see this "ugliest outfit ever" on Elisa. That is a tough, tough competition, so it must be really hideous.

Ah, another naughty recap from our gal Cynderella. That combined with UA short list of sexually obsessed telenovela villains makes for quite a racy weekend.

Always love your humor, and like Cathyx particularly enjoyed your re-telling of the Dam/Florencia encounter.

Other faves:
"this is an exercise in futility. This falls more under the category of bragging."[Paloma]

[Carmina] "brushing the mange from her hair" (ye gods, how do you come up with this stuff?)

and the running joke of "fake baby" and now "maybe baby" and the imagined embargo of condoms to La Ermita....well, just remember, Sunday morning is just around the corner.

Cynderella, thanks so much! Very funny.

I was thinking Elisa was looking a lot better. Her hair and makeup are less overdone; she's even gotten rid of those incredibly fake dark rectangle eyelashes. I really liked the blue dress with the purple belt she wore for the opening of her new proce. But I guess she's still Elisa, so the good outfits can't last.

I don't approve of Paloma's awkward seduction of Gael, not at all, but the episode should at least get him thinking about whether he really wants to be married and faithful to a woman who will just think of England forevermore.

Poor Padre. That was really crappy of Paloma to burden him like that, when she wasn't even penitent. In other circumstances I might think it was rude the way he immediately told Gael and Elisa that she has news to tell them, without giving her a chance to talk to Gael privately and on her own terms, but she kind of deserved that. I wonder if she'll squirm out of it somehow.

I can't imagine what game Flor is playing now. Does she actually have a plan to acquire a baby? She should fake a miscarriage and then wait for Dam to offer her a lot of money for a divorce, and then run as far and fast as she can. Though I am enjoying watching her more now that she isn't just chasing after Damian pathetically and sucking up to Alfie.

Cynderella, thanks for that hilarioius recap. Now I feel caught up with all the action in La Ermita.
Sorry I missed seeing Elisa's ugliest ever dress. She's had so many ugly outfits, this one must be a doozy.
"Brushing the mange from her hair..." made my skin crawl at the same time I was ROFL!

La Paloma

Cynderella thanks for another hilarious recap and title. Yes Pal was bragging; she just "needed" to tell Gall's dad, who happens the priest who is marrying him, that she's pregnant.

Gall is just sinking lower and lower. He cheats on Eliar 3 weeks ago and amps up his jealousy/paranoia that she'll see Dam in town. Ick! Way to morph into her psycho Dad, idiot. And his looks to Pal at the end were so "don't tell, it was an accident."

The Baddies are amping up their crazy on one another. Gab kept the contract and the Orange Menace is getting squeezed. Squee!

Julia. You asked what Flor was up too. Well, we know that she HATES Alfie for putting her father in jail. The baby is the most important thing to Alfie. What if one day, Flor just runs away? Alfie would freak! Right?

Maybe Horacio is coming out at night and sprinkling plague all over Gab's/Camina's crops and watering down their pesticide. Bwahaha! That would be so cool.

This was one of your best recaps EVER Cynderella. I was laughing throughout, and especially loved your take on the Elisa/Maru meeting and

"Padre ardently prays for the birth control/condom shipments to break through the UN sanctioned military blockade."

Just priceless.

What bothers me about some of the antics by the young 'uns is that they are so sadly mirroring their parental units and adults at the beginning of this thing. And some of those adults are the supposed villians of this piece.

I have such a hard time coming to grips with how Paloma is acting when she reminds me of a yonger Carmina, complete with the Padre confessional scene. Dam and Gael are more and more like their father, who, face it, we liked him cause it was The Voice, but he really was a bit of a louse. Elisa is just clueless like her father - and playing two guys off each other if we're honest. I can't remember a protagonist foursome I was more frustrated with in a TN. Can totally appreciate why Padre is throwing his hands up and refusing to marry any of them. (Bet he's wishing that transfer had been three months after all.)

Only beanie moment for me---Pal says hook up #2 was three weeks ago, behind the curtain ( love that) and Flo is faking being preggers at a minumum of five and half months or so ( she was "preggers" before her daddy died). Pal can't be preggers from hookup No #1 and look like little miss svelte, so how could Flo use Pal's little one for a baby steal? If the writers go there, I may have to take some Valium to keep watching this thing.

I'm just going to say this again. Gael irritates me and always has. I don't like Elisa because I think she's shady for stealing her friend's man, but I can understand why she is clinging to Gael. Actually, I kinda don't like anyone in this telenovela, but there are some that I dislike more than others. Right now, Gael is #1 on the dislike list.

Daisy, if I was in Paloma's position, I'd probably sleep with Gael too. But unlike Paloma, I would have told EVERYONE, so that Elisa could feel dumb. Hell, I just might wait until the wedding to let him know that I am preggers.

Where are my manners? Cynderella- I loved the recap. Not liking most of the characters right now, but loving how you continue to make their antics hilarious.

I don't think the writers are planning a baby knapping by Flor of Pal's baby. They aren't even hinting at it. Flor is almost ready to pop, and Pal's baby just started baking. I like the idea of her skipping town and disappearing just before she's supposed to give birth, because that would send both Dam and Alfie into fits. Great revenge.

I also thought that Padre must be glad that he's getting the heck out of that town soon.

Oye Cynderella, I agree that Elisa's dress was a genuine oddity -- they couldn't find someone to clip the tag out of the lace back? -- but you let Gael off way too easy. Whoever picked out that yellow/blue/white checked, button-down, short-sleeved dress shirt (qth???) ought to be fired. I could dress that man better at Goodwill.

So how is Paloma going to keep this pregnancy from Gael? Is she going to leave town? Is she going to hook up with Enrique and claim it's a preemie? Is she going to abort?

Cathyx - I don't think Pal cares if Gall finds out. She keeps pulling this passive/aggressive crap - she tells Padre she thinks she's pregnant but doesn't regret it. She said Eliar is dead to her and what better way to get back at her than to having his child.

Thank you for the recap, Cynderella. It was funny and snarky!

How is it that Ramona "knew" Sabrina was preggers, but is clueless when it comes to Paloma? The old passage about seeing a splinter in someone else's eye but unable to see the log in their own eye comes to mind. Gah.

After yesterday's snark-fest re: the Tostacos, I fully expected to see PadLupe munching down on some while he was in that confessional. ;o)

My favorite scene in this episode was the one between PadLupe and Gael! Those two actors have chemistry and work together very well, and I hope they will be in more telenovelas together.
It is interesting that the writers (or director) had PadLupe in a purple stole for this episode. Purple is the color of the penitential seasons.

"How is it that Ramona "knew" Sabrina was preggers, but is clueless when it comes to Paloma?"

Doris- During the whole Sabrina pregnancy reveal, Ramona said to Doc Tovar that when her daughter got pregnant, she couldn't see it, and she refused to believe it when Doc told her. That's why she was returning the favor and telling him about Sabrina. They both admitted that it was harder to see the truth when it's close to home.

Ok I think Pal got preggers the second time which was only a few days/weeks ago (right before Gael shaved clean, i guess.)
Also, Julia,
i think what Flor said at the church was that she was going to fulfill what she had promised her dad and what she was promising herself, which is to 'straighten up her life' so my guess is she will come clean sometime before the church wedding, or even maybe the day of the wedding, but she certainly won't get as far as marrying Dam by church, esp now that she would have to do it in the same chapel she watched her dad's body.

Cynderella, LOVED LOVED your recap, esp the strike-through words, 'fried'/died , the 'brag'/talk and the three strikes on Damian. Also the 'exercise in futility' of Pal's.

LOVED the scene where Loopy told off Alfie and announced to her that he would NOT officiate the wedding of Dam and FLo, he leaves in a huff and Alfie asks Dam if he is going to ask her why Loopy doesn't want to marry them. Dam peacefully and almost with a smirk tells her 'don't need to, i think I already know'.

Also LOVED the guilt trip scene Loopy was pulling on Gall (love the nick, cyn!) and Gall, stubborn as he is, still in denyal denyal.

Doris,
After yesterday's snark-fest re: the Tostacos, I fully expected to see PadLupe munching down on some while he was in that confessional. ;o)
ROFLOL!!

btw, it is 'Tostachos' which are pretty popular in Mex, like Doritos here.t

Doris, good catch on
It is interesting that the writers (or director) had PadLupe in a purple stole for this episode. Purple is the color of the penitential seasons.

yes, purple is what catholic priests use usually during lent, which is the 'confessional' period in the year. Then on easter they change to a brighter color.

Cynderella, you have my thanks for this mahhvelous recap. Terrific stuff, my dear.

OMG, I have to say this before I burst. These repetitive story lines within the SAME novela are beyond ludicrous. 1) Does EVERY CHICK have to get knocked up by a guy who doesn't love her? Tonia, Kenia, Sabrina, now Paloma, heck, even ING (by Rosendo) and Ramona's daughter (by GABINO) and Flo's fake baby by Damian... Is Estefy the only chick in Ermitaville that got pregnant by a man who loved her? 2) Kenia steals Paolo's bike, crashes, and ends up in the hospital, Chente steals Paolo's bike, crashes, and ends up in the hospital, 3) Carmina pimps herself out for money and luxury items, ING pimps herself out for money and luxury items 4) Victims of unrequited love... Enrique, Flo, Gael, Paloma, Tonia, Braulio, Chente, Maru, Fina, Gweedo, Paolo, DrT, Sabrina, BeGoneYa, what, is that everybody in the place? Even GABINO is determined that Carmina be his. Lucio and Ramona seem to be the only Ballers in town.

Anyways...

Paloma, Paloma, Paloma. Ugh. What a pathetic piece of work this chick is. FF>>

Weird how DrT can seem to only boink the two women in town who are killing everybody.

Yes, I know that women carry babies differently from time to time, but this is FICTION, not real life, and Princess Pea needs to look like she's REALLY 7 MONTHS PREGNANT, in bed and out of it. Honestly, how hard is that?

Dam Ridiculous must have been sniffing exhaust fumes before he got to the cenote, busting up in there and having the Gall to tell Elisa not to get married because of HIS feelings, when he's off the market. Dude, go away.

(Poor Elisa, you'll see how honest Gael is, all right, haha)

Major red flags should have gone off for Damian when Flo wouldn't let him touch her stomach. But probably not, because he's so Dam Distracted.

Good for Loopy, refusing to marry anyone because he's so fed up with all of their lies and Tomfoolery in the Eyes of God. You tell 'em, Padre.

The look on Gael's face as the show went to break, as Loopy asked him if he'd done something to be ashamed of, was priceless. It had me in stitches! Big props to Mark for that. Great job, buddy! LOL!

My favorite line of the recap: While Carmina is seated at a vanity, brushing the mange from her hair... ROFLMAO

Surely that church on Fina's property has been struck by lightning multiple times. Is it still even standing.

Welllp, lemme go read some comments!

You are absolutely HILARIOUS, Cynderella! The image in my brain of a UN sanctioned blockade of a shipment of condoms just won't stop! I'll remember this forevuh!!

Paloma...could anyone be so pathetic?!

Thank you Cynderella!

Stephe,

"Weird how DrT can seem to only boink the two women in town who are killing everybody."

You NAILED it!!! Yet another hilarious comment!!!

Anonymous,

That UN sanctioned blockade totally cracked me up too, to where I could barely move. GOOD one, Cyn. LMAO!

Further gloss on liturgical colors: A purple stole is normally worn while the priest is hearing confessions; purple vestments are also worn during Advent and Lent. Fr. Lupe also wore purple chasuble (outer vestment) during the funeral mass for Guido. (This may be traditional in Mexico.) In the US, while purple may be worn, a white vestment is normally worn during a funeral mass, a symbol of the hope of resurrection. This change was made post Vatican II. Prior to Vatican II, all priests wore black vestments.

OMG, Stephe: "Weird how DrT can seem to only boink the two women in town who are killing everybody." I started laughing so hard I had to make a plate of nachos while I got hold of myself.

And speaking of sniffing, what was UP with Gabino and that habanero he was trying to put up his nose? Was he snorting plaga? Is that the new thing now?

Blue Lass, all I could think was how it was going to hurt (not to mention burn like a mutha) if he managed to snort it up in there. ROFL

(It was a bad one, though, so it might not have had much potency.) Kudos to the actor who plays GABINO for always giving such inventive and odd mannerisms to his character. Makes him memorable. :)

Cyn, you are out of this world too funny. Thank you. Now why in this episode all the men except the Padre are so horny. what did they inhale!!!! The whole hour they are thinking nothing but sex sex sex.Now my husband is waking up from his boredom and sitting up straight in the couch.

Vida2, maybe that's why Elisa is so sure she can market her habaneros all over the world...

Hello! Been in an "inconvenient location" (good one EJ) with inconvenient networks. Have been able to see Abismo and read recaps and comments, but not post  myself!  Thanks everyone, great fun this week.

Cynderella, not only are you hilarious, you're insightful.  You were early to see a darker side of Gael, I missed that. He is  really walking on the smarmy side now. It takes a duplicitous personality to do what Gael is doing, Dr.T as well. Ugh! Cyn, also, "Actually, I kinda don't like anyone in this telenovela, but there are some that I dislike more than others. " I agree with that and MY most disliked  character is Alfonsina and she lives on and on!

While it seemed more like Bewitched than Private Benjamin,  I was happy to see Elisa's business up and running. Elisa, Lucio, Gael, QuiQui and Braulio make a good team.  I didn't think we'd see La Anita on its knees, but Ramona's curse hit its mark. Of course, the field workers will feel the pain the most, maybe she should have thought of them, they need their supply of Tostachos too!  Ramona worked hard to prevent Paloma from making just the mistake she has made, I feel for her when she learns the truth, that will be her a heartbreaker for Ramona.

Salvador? (Gabino) is a hilarious bad guy, loved the way he jumped over the back of the sofa and plopped himself down, LOVE that actor! This is such a good role for him!

Blue Lass--

Remember that old song "Blame It On The Bossa Nova"?

We could change it to "Blame It On The Habaneros"!

Showing my age,
Sondie

Oh, yes, Sondie -- and we could wrap this whole thing up with a Bollywood-style ensemble dance number! It wouldn't be any weirder than some of the other stuff we have to put up with.

Cynderalla: You are a gifted writer. So many funny description as noted above. I'm late in commenting since I spent the morning stocking up on hurrican supplies. Here we go in the Gulf Coast again. Oh, well.

I meant descriptions and hurricane

"A purple stole is normally worn while the priest is hearing confessions"
That makes sense, since confession involves penance. I never saw the priests enter or leave the confessionals... they were already there when I would go, so I never knew how they were dressed. (golf attire? Friday casual?)

This recap was tool funnniee!! ThanksCyn.
Yola

*hoping everything is okay down Pasofina's way* :(

Typo. I meant Pasofino. *sorry!*

Cynderella, kudos to you amiga for a rip snorter of a recap. I absolutely loved the title; I almost fell off my chair laughing. You are a keen observer of the human condition. It's hilarious how you tell it like it really is regarding all our stoopid characters.

Thank you for making my day. I know I will be laughing about your scathingly brilliant recap all day.;

Thanks everyone for you kind comments. It's a pleasure to make you laugh.

Hi Cynderella! I've read many funny recaps of yours and really enjoyed them. But think this was the funniest! you had so many things pegged - tell it like it is girl!
