Amor Bravío #16 (Uni 11) Mon 8/27/12

Capitulo 16:   Minding Others' Business, As Usual

Lo de Pasado:

Camila receives a call about a posthumous honour for her Tio Daniel.  Natalia shows La Malquerida to Daniel, who tells her he hopes he can work in such a beautiful place and know such a beautiful person as she is. He isn't interested in her that way, but methinks she is not seeing that.

Lo de Nuevo:

Parlour:   That three-note high leitmotif underscores Camila and Mama Metiche talking about how Alonssso hadn't been home the night before; his car isn't outside and his bed has not been slept in.  The three high-note leitmotif leading to the violins  eavesdrops on this exchange.  As usual, Mama Metiche asks about more than she should know and is concerned about appearances and gossip.  Camila's irritation is obvious. She calls Alonssso's cell phone.

Courtyard:  Daniel asks whether there had been much change at the ranch, and Natalia answers in the affirmative. Not so much because of Camila, whom she describes as “good people” but due to her husband who thinks he is the boss.

Master Bedroom:    Camila looks into Alonssso's closet with Mama Metiche looking over her shoulder. Camila finds nothing missing and Augustina says something about hoping nothing tragic happened. Stupidstitiously she apologises for this comment, but Camila tells her tersely not to worry about it as she exits.

Bulls grazing in the field [Salud!]

Field:   Natalia approaches Leoncio to introduce Andres Duarte (Daniel). Leoncio says there is no available work for him, as we predicted he would say. Rudolfo enters and Natalia introduces the two hunks of burning love to each other, which cannot please Leoncio very much. He orders Rudolfo off, saying “la doctora” needs his assistance. Natalia comments about how Camila would not be pleased at his rude treatment of someone recommended to her.

Outside the Hacienda:   Leoncio approaches Alonssso as he exits his oversized car [his choice of a penis car is really odd] asking whether he authorized the hire of new workers, as a new one came at his wife's suggestion. Don't we all know what Alonssso will think of that when he sees Daniel! The reptile answers “no” and continues going inside.

Parlour:   Camila and her Mama Metiche come down the stairs talking as the reptile enters. Mama Metiche is relieved, saying that they were worried about him, but he asks “You or you and Camila?” Augustina sensibly exits. Alonssso gets on the offensive, telling Camila she is not the woman he married.

Alonso:    What? Aren't you going to ask where I was?
Camila:    Where were you that you didn't come home to sleep?
Alonso:    Hoping that you'd be worried, anxious about me. But obviously not. You're so cold, Camila.
Camila:      Do you think this situation can continue?
Alonso:    What situation? I don't know your attitude. (sits on couch and puts his hands behind his neck) You are not the woman I married.
Camila:    And what woman did you think you married?
Alonso:    An affectionate woman. Sweet. Who worries about her husband. One who doesn't try to demonstrate superiority.
Camila:    But I am –
Alonso:    No. You are totally the contrary, Camila. Totally the contrary –
Camila:    I don't understand what you're talking about.
Alonso:    About giving orders you aren't entitled to. Some jerk came here looking for a job. I am the administrator of this ranch. I get to decide who gets hired and who doesn't. I do, not you!
Camila:    Ah! Of course. This is how you express your manliness. [hombría] Really? You're mistaken, Alonso. You're forgetting that until my cousin gets here, I am the head of this ranch. I will hire whom I want.

He looks at though he is advancing on her, but merely takes his jacket off the back of the sofa and exits. As another wise person once said “If you have to keep saying you're in charge, you're not.” Get over it, Alonssso.

Ximena's Apartment, Monterrey:    Augustina calls, reproaching her for not calling for several weeks. She makes an excuse about traveling for monkey business and not having a long-distance-enabled cell phone. Augustina isn't buying this. She tells her that if all goes well in a month Camila will own La Malquerida. She complains [we know she has good reason] that they never hear from her and she hasn't visited. Ximena whines about Augustina preferring to be with Camila over her and then accuses her of always playing the victim and ends the call. When we hear that busy signal again Augustina shouts “Niña! Niña! Niña! Niña!” at the receiver in frustration before finally giving up. Ximena picks up two of the multiple shopping bags at the foot of her bed to contemplate her latest ramerawear.  She then  looks at her bank statement which seems to show that her assets are shrinking, shrugs, and shoves the document out of sight.

Outside the Hacienda:   Mama Dragon – clad in classic dominatrix black – arrives and exchanges greetings with Camila then gets as metiche as her own mother regarding her marital non-relationship. The musicians play a leitmotif of suspicion in a minor key while eavesdropping on the following:

Isadora:    Camila, I want to take the advantage of speaking alone with you.
Camila:    Talk.
Isadora:    I don't want you to think I'm an interfering mother-in-law – nothing would bother me more than that – but I'm very worried about the problems between you and my son. [metiche suegra]
Camila:    I don't know what Alonso told you –
Isadora:    Alonso told me nothing. But one doesn't have to be a genius to see that things between the two of you aren't going well. You? Alone with some friends in the city? And him drinking in a bar since morning?
Camila:    What?
Isadora:    Don't ask about what's obvious. I only know what I've heard.
Camila:    Look, Isadora, I'm grateful you're concerned about us, but also I think that our problems as a couple are to be kept between us. Nobody else.
Isadora:    Why have you changed so much? (crossing her arms and looking like a scolding schoolmarm) You are very different from the way my son spoke of you. I was under the impression he fell in love with a homebody, not someone who goes here and there and whom people talk about. A sweet, soft, woman of taste – (the music starts to enter the first stage of Dante's Inferno as Camila looks away briefly to roll her eyes)
Camila:    Are you saying these things because you saw me eating with friends? That wasn't anything bad; you were also –
Isadora:    That's different. I'm a
black widow; you are a newlywed. I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but as they say would it not be better to be spoken of well rather than badly? Remember that a small town is a hotbed of gossip. [pueblo chico, infierno grande]
Camila:    I'm truly grateful for your concern and your comments, but I'm uncomfortable discussing my intimate problems with my husband with his mother. Do you understand?
Isadora (attempting to assume authority): Daughter, I understand. But before I'm a mother I'm a woman. I know what I'm talking about. If a man looks away, it's for what he doesn't find at home. A man wants to be a protector, making decisions... Please, why can't you be the tender, fragile woman my son fell in love with? If you want your marriage to be paradise, you have to know the man you married.

The music continues in the same minor key, as though Hitchcock's birds were flying to it.  Camila should be aware that she is being gaslighted.

Shower:  The music continues into this scene as Alonssso stands under the water, frustrated as usual. He replays his failure with the prostitute in his head, which he continues to grip in anguish. Thankfully, we barely see his shoulders.

Bulls graze on the other side of the fence [Salud!]

Outside the Fence:  Natalia and Daniel/Andres talk briefly until they are interrupted by Leoncio who says the boss (male) says there is no work. He further lies that la Señora says to do what the boss (male) says. He attempts to dismiss Daniel/Andres, then exits. Daniel tries to ask him a question, but is ignored. Natalia says to hell with him, she will introduce Daniel to la Señora. She will not have Leoncio humiliate him. He is grateful and kisses her in a way she misinterprets. As does Leoncio, who stares with an evil eye as Daniel exits. Natalia notices that.

Camila's Bedroom:  Camila lies on the bed, already looking like she needs a prescription for Zoloft. Mama Metiche enters to ask what's wrong. Camila tells her she feels confused, sad, annoyed, deceived, etc., all at once. Mama Metiche asks her why they don't just start over because Alonssso is a Good Man who loves his wife, but Camila isn't sure about that. She mentions that he insults, hurts, and offends her and she isn't willing to put up with that. She puts the pillow over her head, but Mama Metiche ignores the message that Camila doesn't want to talk. She pulls the pillow off. Unfortunately, Camila spills the frijoles out of sheer desperation.  Three months later the marriage is not consummated.

Study:  Mama Dragon calls El Diablo at Hell HQ to tell him she's at the hacienda. He wants to know much more. She gives vague evasions about a minor problem that will be shortly resolved, but he is persistent. She tries to tell him that it's a very personal and intimate problem that affects Alonssso's self-esteem [Note to Isadora: He's also got a more ginormous problem affecting that: You!] and she doesn't want to talk about it. However, like the efficient demon that he is, El Diablo's impatience doesn't affect his skills of observation. Background music from the string section begins to sound like Berlioz and Gounod.  He notes how she sounds when talking about it and when he lands on the word “impotente” he realizes he has hit the bull's eye. Mama Dragon is predictably embarrassed, but attempts to be firm. El Diablo will not let this slide, pointing out that Camila could sue for divorce at any time. Isadora says that this could be resolved shortly, but El Diablo sabe mejor de eso. He points out that this is far more serious than she is willing to recognize and he will just have to take action. She asks him what he plans to do and he tells her that she knows. [Rats, because we also want to know.]

Parlour:  Mama Metiche makes a phone call, but gets a busy signal. Piedad enters and Mama Metiche hands the phone to her, telling her that Mama Dragon is in the study. She was trying to reach Padre Baldomero, but his line is busy. She is on her way there and Piedad is to keep trying to reach him to let him know she is on the way. Horror film music as the first rat leaves the sinking ship...

Study:   The string section has a good time with this, and a few percussion punctuations that sound like storms emphasize this interesting confrontation.   Alonssso enters, asking Mama Dragon what she is doing there. He is in no mood to deal with her. She tells him she has found a specialist in Mexico City for him, but he tells her to stay out of what is not her business. He tries to threaten her and El Diablo he will reveal the scam, but she reminds him that he could end up in prison himself. Her manner is sufficiently chilly that he states he doubts her love for him. She tells him she does love him, but he seems to know better; “When it benefits you” is his response. She departs in a huff and he sits in the office chair, curls up into an inside-the-egg position and bites his claws. [Salud!]

Outside the Hacienda:   Camila comes out and Natalia calls her. At Camila's question she tells her that Isadora and her pup were in the study and gave instructions they were not to be disturbed. She asks about a job for Andres and Camila hires him as her assistant without even an interview.

Road:   Daniel/Andres walks along the side of the road and a bus approaches. He tries to flag it down but it doesn't stop. Distracted by his thoughts regarding his conversation with Natalia about Camila, he is hit (in his nice firm arse) by a car and falls onto the sloping side of the road. Mama Metiche is the driver; she had swerved to avoid hitting a burro that was crossing the road. Despite her questionable ethics in other areas of life she gets out of the car to investigate. Daniel/Andres gets up just in time to hear her panic and relief in the same breath. His only injuries appear to be a scraped arm and knee, which are bleeding through his clothes. She offers to take him to the hospital, but he refuses. He finally asks to be driven back to town and she helps him to the car.

Grazing Field (so these must not be the fighting bulls):  Camila tells Leoncio that Natalia's friend will begin work the next day. He tells her that the boss said no, and she tells him this has nothing to do with Alonssso. After she exits he gives Natalia a ration of merde about this, talking about starting trouble with the boss and finally accusing her of wanting Andres around because she's hot for him. She is not afraid of him, knowing that Alonssso doesn't entirely trust him either; he doesn't trust him with the firearms. Finally she walks off with the statement that they mind their own business from there on.

Road, Augustina's car:   Daniel/Andres appears to be alright, much to Augustina's relief. She comments that if this incident became known she would be forbidden to drive. He asks who would forbid her, her husband? She responds that she is a widow and it is her son-in-law who would try to stop her. She then introduces herself to him and the names land hard. She asks his name and he tells her it is Andres Duarte (which we should probably call him from here on).

Inn:  Natalia has called Amanda to look for Andres, finally telling her that she will have a surprise for him when she gets home. Just as Amanda hangs up the phone Andres and Augustina arrive, she helping him to the chair. He explains that he fell into a ditch [zanja] and Augustina helped him up and drove him in. Amanda gets the first aid kit and we see that Andres' knee is bleeding through his trousers, which will need to be removed. [Drat! Mama Metiche may get to see her future yerno's package before her daughter does.  That just isn't done.]

Outside the Hacienda:  Leoncio tells Alonssso that Camila hired Natalia's novio despite his orders and that he will be there tomorrow. Alonssso is displeased. “What do you want me to do?” asks Leoncio, to which Alonssso says he will take charge of this. He stalks away and Leoncio seems almost amused. [We wonder whether he knows how little power this reptile really has.]

Inn, Andres' Room:   Andres is lying on the bed, the first aid tray near his foot. As she cuts the trouser leg, Augustina observes that Andres' accent indicates he isn't a local, that he's from somewhere in South America. He tells her she's right and that he is looking for work. She comments that his accent, speech, and manners indicate that he is educated and that there is no work nearby that requires his knowledge. He tells her he came north in pursuit of a Mexican girl he was in love with only to discover that the relationship was not to be and he is looking to make enough money to go home. He asks if she could help him get a job at the ranch. She hesitates but then says she will speak with her friends, including Licenciado Becerra.

Bulls entering a pen to ranchera music [Salud!]

Other Side of Pen:   Camila gives instructions to Rudolfo as she takes bottles of medication out of a cabinet. Alonssso marches down, demanding to speak with her immediately. Despite that she finally agrees and walks back the same way he seizes her arm and almost drags her. She extricates her arm with a reproach. Minor key music builds in the background.

Alonso:  It looks like you don't think I'm important around here. Making me look small in front of the help.
Camila:    What do you talking about?
Alonso:    First being seen in public with other people and now taking my authority away in front of Leoncio. Hiring Natalia's boyfriend for the ranch.
Camila (more than tired of all this BS):      Alonso, those are two different things and I was hoping your attitude would be different.
Alonso:    You are arrogant, Camila.
Camila (incredulous):    Excuse me?
Alonso:  Yes. You are arrogant. Living it up in front of everyone, acting like you're the boss around here and I'm nothing but a rag doll or a – [pelele]
Camila:    No, no, no. You are exaggerating, Alonso, please. You and I are the bosses here and until Uncle Daniel's heir gets here I am the executrix so I get to make decisions.
Alonso (sarcastic):   You're doing very well, being the woman who wants to have everyone kneeling at her feet. Do you think I'm an idiot? I'm not that idiot Rudolfo. I am your husband, Camila.
Camila:    Don't talk to me like that in front of others.
Alonso (seizes her by the jaw, pushing her head back):  It's time you knew I am your husband.
Camila (breaks away and slaps him):   That is the last time you will put your hands on me. The last.

Music goes to a major key with a flourish as she exits, leaving him dumbfounded. [We wonder how much Rudolfo heard of this, as he was in the background the whole time.]

Grounds outside Iglesia:   Padre Baldomero comes out of the church to greet Augustina, commenting that she was expected earlier. She apologises for her delay due to a mishap [contratiempo], then asks whether Camila has come to him to talk about her marital problems. He gets her to sit down on the bench, asking why she is enquiring of this. She tells him about the marriage not being consummated and realizes from his facial expression that he knows. He reminds her that he can't discuss anything he hears in the confessional. She wants to know what they can do, but he tells her that “Alonso's problem” has to be given time. If not, the marriage is in danger. [As usual, stating the obvious.]

Viviana's Apartment:   An ominous chord sounds as Camila and Viviana take coffee together. Over some silly piano music they talk about how everyone has seen Alonssso's behavior. Camila isn't yet ready to admit that this marriage is a failure. She is still seeing the face Alonssso showed her during their courtship. Viviana has been there, done that, survived, and prospered. “If I can do that, you can, too.” Camila still can't quite accept this, but Viviana tells her she will not allow her to suffer.

Near full moon, the same one as in Episode 11.

Inn:   Natalia helps Andres down the stairs to the dinner table. She gives him the news that he will start at the ranch on the morrow. He's wondering how this happened and she explained that while Alonssso was not too bad before, he has turned nasty since his marriage and this has caused a minor upset. While he tried to say no she went to Camila instead and it's Camila he should thank for the job.

Fields:   Luzma and Camila are talking about Luzma's problem with her wealthy novio's family.   They will not accept her because her mother is the cook at La Malquerida.   She still wants to complete her studies and advance herself.   Camila tells her to count on her support.

Bulls grazing [Salud!]

Outside the Hacienda:  Alonssso and Leoncio talk about Andres' first day.  Alonssso wants Leoncio to send him into the fields and treat him in a way that makes him want to leave.  This amuses Leoncio sufficiently to try to do a buddy slap on Alonssso, who indicates his displeasure by using hand sanitizer.

Viviana's Apartment:   Rafael arrives for breakfast. He asks about Camila and Alonssso. Rafael indicates his interest in Camila, but will bide his time until Camila is available. Viviana explains that this may not happen so quickly; Alonssso will not give her up easily.

Parlour:   El Diablo arrives and Augustina invites him for coffee. He proposes that they talk business. He comments that this was a pretext, but she is willing to talk business as he closes in and takes her hands in his. He's obviously expert at a game that Alonssso can't qualify for.

Outside the Hacienda:   Alonssso tells Camila that Leoncio has been given instructions for her new hire. He tries to make nice. Natalia and Andres approach with Natalia greeting Camila first. She hasn't yet taken her eye off Alonssso, possibly because she is afraid to turn her back on him now. However, she finally does in time to see Andres in his charro uniform and tie. Que delicioco but she doesn't show that to him.

Avances

Camila confronts Andres; El Diablo confronts Alonssso.

It looked like Rudolfo heard the Camila/Alonso fight and was giving Alonso the stink eye.

Just fabulous Urban. My oh my is there a lot of manly hunkiness in this show. It makes up for that worm Alonso. Between the hunky ranch assistant, the hunky writer, and the hunky stranger, I don't think that Camila will have much time to dwell on her failed marriage once she finally decides to kick Al to the curb.

I do feel sorry for Nat though. Every time DAndres put his arm around her, touched her hand, or gave her a brotherly kiss, I could feel her excitement growing and could see the big disappointment coming. So far there are enough men to go around so my early pairings are Cam and Dan; Nat and Rudolfo; and Vivi and Rafael (although right now they are just friends).

Urban Anthropologist, thank you! I love the pictures of the beautiful fans. Are these in your private collection?

Anon207, SUPER list, as always!!! Thank you!!

Thank You for another quick recap UA. I like your lists Anon207. You remind me of
Connie our erstwhile Recapper/Commenter.

I have to wonder where Daniel/Andres got the money to buy clothes and a leather jacket. Even his hat. Now he sports Charro suits. Where did he work if he did? I know we have to tighten the old beany but..... It's too early in the episodes for this. You also have to wonder how he keeps all his things in a little backpack. It's not even the big one.

We last saw him escape with the clothes on his back. He even eventually lost his gray top and ended up stealing a blue jacket down the shore.

He even offered to pay a few weeks in advance at the inn. I doubt he would have had that money with him all this time from prison since they inventory every possession you have before you wear the issed uniforms.

Alonso is not the only one with a "problem" down there. David from La Fuerza Del Destino also had a similar problem which he eventually overcame due to theraphy. And more people knew about his darned problem than should have, like pretty much the entire neighborhood. Tsk tsk tsk.

I really hated how that worm Alsonso manhandled Camila. Makes me want to knock that guy out.

OT: Jarocha or anyone in the know, when will Amores Verdaderos be shown here? I obtained some intel on the new series and it seems to be a really good show with shades of the Bodyguard film of Kevin Costner and the late Whitney Houston. If anyone can fill me in, please do so. Aribeth and Elvira may have some inside knowledge since they usually have good information that they share with us.

Ibarramedia

Ibarramedia- It was some time between when Dan was rescued by the fisherman upon jumping off the boat in Mexico, and when he showed up at the ranch. He was likely working and doing odd jobs during this time in preparation for his journey to the ranch. With his education and good manners, as well as his brawn and strength, I imagine he would have found some good under the table work. As for the tiny bag, tns are known for miraculous bags and suitcases that carry vast wardrobes! :) They're like the Tardis.

Urban- thank you so much for this great recap. I love how you translate the convo's and the vocabulary.

I agree with Vivi those are some hunks a burn' love floating around that ranch. I like her pairings too. Poor Nat she will get her heart broken, she sure has it bad for Andres.

How much sicker can Alonssso get? The guy needs to be locked up far far away. I am glad Camila put her foot down.

Anon 207- always like your lists.

I hope Camila keeps Andres at the ranch and doesn't fire him on the spot. He has been kinda creepy stalky but since we know his reasons and she doesn't I wonder if she will allow him to work on the ranch.

Mama Dragon, and Metiche Mama need to stay out of Camila's bidness. We know why Mama Dragon insists on knowing, kinda creepy, but her own mama? I too wonder what is up Mama Dragon and El Diablo's sleeve in ref to Alonssso and Camila.

I like Viviana and Rafael. I hope they help Camila get away from Alonssso. Camila sure needs to dump him like yesterday, but it will be a long time.

I can't stand Leonicio, he kind of reminds me of Gabino over there in Abismo, but not as bad, or maybe he is and we just don't know it yet.

UA thanks for the recap. I loved your line "He's obviously expert at a game that Alonssso can't qualify for." Even as a villain CE is smooth.

Yes we are all anxious for Camila to kick her unfortunate husband to the curb. What I find most disturbing aside from his man-handling her is he and his mother 'gaslighting' her about being cold and evil. I hope Camila does something to enforce Alooser not touching her again.

Vivi - loved the small suitcase as Tardis ;)

Madelaine - While I'm not a fan of Gabino, I think Leonicio is worse b/c he's a dirty old man. In what universe would Nat want him as a novio? Even before Daniel showed up, there was Rudolfo. And how he handles his niece creeped me out too.

Hi! I'm new to this great site where we can read telenovela captions in English:http://users.frii.com/markzimm/lqnpa/

Could someone please tell me where to find the earlier Spanish-English captions
of LQNPA?

I really would like to read them if it's possible. Thank you! :))

Blast it! I slept through most of this. Looks like I missed the best parts. Figures I am awake when Alonso man-handles his wife and Dan gets run over, but I missed his charo outfit. Missed all the eye-candy.

Thanks for the recap.

Cindy

Anon: Amores Verdaderos is supposed to start on Sept 3 in Mexico, so I guess we will have to wait until January or February for it. Does anyone know how long Amor Bravio is?

David in LFdD; I need that gingko badly. I recapped the episode where we found out about it. Shows how intense this is. David got therapy and it helped him, but he was a good kid with bad parents. Alonssso is another species.

I think Daniel probably made some money before getting on that boat. I was wondering about how many clothes he had when Augustina was cutting the pants leg. I'm sure that La Malquerida supplies the uniforms. My gut tells me that each ranch has its own colors and style of charro uniform.

Those fans are mine. The ones purchased in Spain will be the headers for my episodes. I have about 60 folding fans of varied sizes. One is all white feathers.

Anon207: Good lists.

Karen: CE is a smooth dude. It looks like El Diablo will be courting Augustina in the way Alonssso couldn't do Camila. Mama Dragon will probably not like that.

BTW, are you in NYC? If so, this Friday is a free screening of the Met's latest production of Faust, from which I took the clip I posted two weeks ago. I am planning to be there.

I also agree that Leoncio may be worse than Gabino; he's had a lot more practice.

Vivi: Natalia will be in for some serious disappointment. I therefore hope that Rudolfo is meant for her. He's adorable in his charro suit.

UA - no, I'm not in NYC. However, when I'm on the east coast again, I'd love to watch an opera with you!

UA: Thanks for great recap. I admire Camila so far - she doesn't give up much ground to Alonso, and, she appears to see through Isadora who wants to put her on a guilt trip.

Isadora and Dionisio need her to be happily married to Alonso so that they can get their hands on Malquerida. We're at some sort of tipping point - but, we're so early in this novela that they have to get the upper hand.

I thought it was interesting that Al and Isa kept pointing out how Camila has changed and that she used to be so mild mannered. That's why they thought it was going to be a piece of cake to manipulate her. What they don't seem to realize is that when Al met Camila, she was in deep grief and depression. She wasn't herself. Now she's starting to become herself again-- the woman we saw in the first episodes with Luis. Happy, fun-loving, effusive, and strong-willed. Vivi is helping her find that part of herself again, but perhaps it was just a matter of time. Camila is starting to come out of a long three-year slumber. Now she just needs to get past those last feelings of guilt about "killing" Luis and conquer her fear of getting back behind the wheel. Perhaps once she's ready to take the wheel, literally, she will be ready to completely take back the wheel of her life?

I agree, Vivi, except on one point: They knew she was grieving for Luis and they knew she felt guilty about his death, or at least Alonssso knew. They are unlikely to know that the accident wasn't her fault, but that really doesn't matter. What does matter is that they didn't know the woman she truly is.

Camila is a person of conscience and she has a stronger will than Alonssso. She may have spoken of how she had been to him and he ignored what he didn't want to know. Now that she is getting back to the person she truly is and she's fighting his attempt to control her, he and Mama Dragon are trying to gaslight her.

I do hope the writers don't insult us by allowing them to drag her down.

Just wanted to give a shout out to all recappers on this TN. Excellent writing. I've watched a few of upcoming episodes on the web and could not get into it, but reading the recaps I can't wait to watch this. Thank you.

Thanks, UA, for this very prompt and helpful recap, complete with useful vocab. I don't have much to add to what others have already said. I too had wondered how/where Daniel got the money for all those clothes, and how they fit into a small backpack. I need a backpack like that!!

UA, you said that Augustina "stupidstitiously" apologizes to Camila. I love the word, but I think there was good reason for her to apologize, since she needlessly mentioned what happened to Luiz.

Vivi, I like your proposed pairings. Hope you're right!

Thank you, UA for the great and witty recap. There's just to much good stuff that would just be repetetive. Recapping is hard but rewarding (to us).

I'm almost back in form to follow and comment.

Two things: I think Alonssssso and Leoncccccio are planning a little dirty work for Danandres. There was talk of sending him to the stables (caballerizos) to muck out stalls, in hopes that it will get him to resign on his own.

Also, the money....while I think that the wardrobe dept. is taking liberties with his dress, Danandres was paid in a little envelope on deck for his work on the ship. It must have gotten wet, but bills do dry out.

Everything was ON the MONEY, UA.

Al-Loco-nso is turning out to be a fascinating character. I hope he isn't gored by a bull too soon. Not that he would dare put himself on the other side of the fence with those "nice" suits and ties he (or mama) chooses. I think the man has potential--as much potential as our nearly departed Dr. Alvaro Nesme in CME (who was then married to our Piedad) for endless ridicule. If you will permit, I will start mining the recaps and comments for descriptions of our man.
Anita

Urban- ITA that Al and Isa knew the basic facts that Camila had come to the ranch after losing her fiance, but they really didn't get how it changed her and that the person they were seeing wasn't the real Cami. Al has for sure been using her guilt and grief to worm his way into her life and to play mind games. I agree that she's stronger than he is. He's just starting to learn that.

And he's not liking it one bit. Too bad.

It should have occurred to all of them that grief had changed her behaviour. Makes me wonder how Alonssso earned his law degree if he's not smart enough to figure this out.

El Diablo is, however.

Quick reminder that spoilers are not permitted here.

Thanks for this detailed thorough recap UA. Though I've been watching this and enjoying the recaps and comments, I've neglected to comment or even express my gratitude... sorry, I'll try to do better.

Lots of familiar faces in this.

Good to see La Font from Pasión (Leonicio) with all his limbs reattached and his smirk intact.

The Padre is one of my favorite Mexican actors who once again has a trademark catchword... in this case... pinacates

Of course Sylvia Navarro always brings it. What a talent.

I've not seen Isadora before (I think I would remember her). She is so icy but so gorgeous.

César Évora is always enjoyable... especially when he's both charming and evil.

But the real treat in this TN is Alonso. He is such a fascinating little bundle of neuroses.

So far the acting has been superb and of course the recapping divine.

Carlos

Carlos- Were you not with us when we watched En Nombre del Amor. Isa is Tia Carloca. Different hair color and no purple, but just as evil.

Carlos, if you watched LFDD, the actress who played Ivan's mom Alicia is the same one who plays Isadora here.

I fist saw Leticia Calderon as the heroine of Yo Compro Esa Mujer where she really proved herself. She was a good girl with depth. Sylvia Navarro should have inherited this role from her instead of the insipid Aracely Arambula. Seeing LC in Mujeres Asesinas was a hell of a shock and I think it was meant to prepare us for ENDA.

Cesar Evora is always a pleasure to see no matter what.

Hello fine recappers!!! I'm only starting to appreciate this tn and I'm so glad that everybody is here.Urban, great recap.to Violeta you can avail english subtitles; I think that it depends on your ptovider. For example, I am in Anaheim, CA and my provider is Direct TV, Univision has subtitles in Spanish and English. Cable channels such as 402 and regular 34 and other Spanish channels offer captions. On your tv it is offered in CC1,2,3,4 and some it is called Service 1,2,etc. use your remote device and turn on your caption or subtitle on the menu. For me, I prefer Spanish caption and then read the blogs and recaps, that way I am learning Spanish. Hope it helps you.

I have also been enjoying the pictures of your beautiful painted fans. Thanks for telling us about them.

Great recap, UA! I've yet to read the comments, but I want to thank you for your regular inclusion of music! Anyone who has ever watched a scene in any movie or tv show knows how the mood is always manipulated through the music, but I can remain completely unaware of it most of the time! I'm glad you remind me! I also greatly appreciate your recounting of dialog, rather than simply the gist of a scene. A couple of those per recap really make a difference. I actually go back and review those scenes (if I haven't erased them), since I don't use subtitles.

I see you revert to the word "merde" rather than "mierda", which makes me wonder if you know a bit of French as well? Or is the French just a better default word when we're speaking English?

I had a touch of sympathy for Alonso in his opening scene in this episode. Something about his expression (seemed defeated enough to perhaps let down his defenses). But it went away.

Vivi, Lol @ the Tardis. I had to look that up and they used that disguised police box with Dr. Who in the UK.

I agree that Leoncio is a creepy dude. Very crude, unrefined and just an all around creep. I think he is up to no good unless we are being misled into thinking that he will be bad based on his appearance and behavior.

Urban Anthropologist, thanks for responding. You've also called me anon twice. I guess you did not see my name at the bottom.

Anita, I saw the part where Daniel was paid on the ship before they jumped over. Since he had no papers, I'm sure he had to do that hard labor on such a low wage. Lower than what thjey would have paid regular stevedores or ship hands and that pay would also be too little. I think that's just enough for his food for a few days. But ok, I will use another beany. :)

Ibarramedia

Vivi, I missed En el Nombre del Amor which is too bad. I looked it up and see that some of my favorite actors were in it.

I must admit that I'm quite smitten by Leticia Calderón. She's beautiful yet also quite scary. I kinda understand how Alonso came to be be Alonso.

I'm concerned that Daniel feels that Camila is responsible for his problems and grief. That brings to mind CME. I know we will see Camila suffer but I hope that Daniel doesn't try to get revenge in ways similar to what Jerónimo did.

Carlos

A quick stop in to say thank you UA. I was hoping that Agustina would keep cutting Daniel's pants all the way up his leg, but she stopped at the knee.

I also recall Daniel getting paid for his work from the ship's captain before he jumped overboard.

I'm not a germiphobe, but if I had to touch Leoncio, I would want to use hand sanitizer too.

I hope Camilla doesn't back down and give in to Alonso. I want her to continue to stand her ground.

Carlos, I've made comparisons to CME with Sylvia's role in both TNs also. There are a lot of similarities with her characters and predicaments.

JaneS, oui; j'ai etudé le français a l'école, mais il y'a plus longtemps.

I will be more careful in future.

Ibarramedia, can you put your sig in boldface if you don't have a Google ID? That would make it easier to avoid this mistake.

I never would have pegged this Isadora to be the same person as Alicia the uber-mom in LFDD. Granted, we didn't see her much but still. Someone called Isadora and Dionisio "Natasha and Boris" which I thought fit so well. No maternal instincts here to mess up a good scheme!

Apparently it's been 11 months since Don Daniel died, since "Daniel Diaz Acosta" is supposed to be dead for 1 year before everything reverts back to Camila. One of the characters (I think, Camila) mentioned that in 1 month, everything would be hers.

D'Andres has only been in town for a few days. He's been on the run, working and being washed ashore and being nursed back to health for month so he could have acculumated a decent sum of money.

If it has been 11 months since Don Daniel's death and approx. 10 months since Dan busted out of prison, if Miriam is still alive and IF Miriam's pregnancy progressed, Dan could be a new papa and he doesn't know it.*

This would also mean Alonso & Camila have been married almost a year with no sex.

I think as Daniel shovels crap from the bull barns he will hear the workers talking about good and sweet & nice Camila is, versus how nasty Alonso is. He's already heard that Camila is nice from Natalia.

Anon207, if it's been that long, then I would think his wife and child did die. It wouldn't be fair for the writers to keep even the viewers from knowing that his wife and child are living.

I think they said Camila can get ownership within another month because by then they will have the death certificates of Dan and his wife. I don't think that much time has passed yet. But I might have missed something.

Camila and Alonssso have only been married three months. Don Daniel Monterde died a few days later. The one-month statement is based on the idea that El Diablo can get the Chilean authorities to declare Daniel dead. However, it's most likely not that easy and this would take longer.

I think Daniel/Andres escaped two months ago and has been on the run since. He's been hoarding what meager pay he's been getting doing odd jobs along the way.

Miriam is most likely still in a coma.

UA: Thanks for the stellar recap.

JaneS: I don't have English subtitles, so a lot of times I can get the gist of what's going on in a scene by the music.

Anon207: love your lists.

Not one to like the villains, but I have to say I think that the actors playing Alonso and Isadora are doing a great job. I especially like the movement, facial expressions, etc. of LC.

I thought that Alonso was crying in the shower scene.

Al's escalating (Criminal Minds talk). He's going to explode BIG TIME.

Robey

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the welcome on Saturday! This was a GREAT recap! So detailed ... thanks so much!

A big "uh-oh" went off in my head when I heard Natalia tell Camilia about Dan/And and she referred to him as "mi novio." I thought, "oh no," he was catapulted into "novio" mode quickly with that hug and non-sexual kiss.

But my favorite was Camila's look at Dan/And at the end ... I'll use the term that I've seen recappers use in the past: "She was looking IMPACTADO."
(I think I got that right.)

Thanks again for all of the details. It fills in the gaps that I missed.

netgirl- Yeah, Nat saying he's her novio is going to get DAndres in big trouble since just the other day he was stalking Camila supposedly because he has the hots for her. She's going to think that either he's a womanizer and Nat should be warned, or that he has some other sinister intent.

UA: I'm late to this party, but have to say there were a number of terrific snarkisms . You had me LOL on a number of 'em. Two thumbs up for these, amiga!

"to contemplate her latest ramerawear"

"Mama Metiche" nick for Agustina

"Drat! Mama Metiche may get to see her future yerno's package before her daughter does. That just isn't done."

"He's obviously expert at a game that Alonssso can't qualify for."

===================

interesting to note how both men have married strong willed women who are large and in charge for one reason or another, and how both men react to the fact that their wife is the better provider or the one with all the true money and power.

Have been on vacation for a week, and so really appreciated UA's terrific recap and the comments.

Before I left, there was a scene where Abraham visited Daniel in prison and told him that Miriam was dead. Was he lying? Is Miriam still alive and in the coma?

NJ Sue, we are fairly sure she is still in a coma. There was no hospital scene, no phone call, no funeral.
