Refugio Para el Amor #83 Wed 8/1/12 Max Dumps Vicky, Violeta Dumps Marcial, Mati Dumps on Rosa, and Rosa Does Her Best Lady Macbeth.

SAN FRANCISCO

Luciana tells Pops that while she is very grateful for his offer to help, they’ll make do just as they always have. Just then, in swoops Don Aquiles.

Introductions are made all around, telling Linares who this scoundrel is and letting Aquiles know that Linares is their knight in shining armor.  Aquiles retells his story that Galindo asked him to care for Luciana and Paz.  Magda tells him what he can do with his version of what happened.  Dagger eyes all around.

Magda continues her rant against Aquiles.  He spouts his “virtuous” intentions.  Luciana is angry that he would dare mention her Papa Galindo’s name.  Claudio intervenes, saying he’s happy that Aquiles will be watching over them, very happy because he knows everything will be just dandy because we wouldn’t want to have any legal problems, right?  Aquiles agrees and says he’s very respectful of the law.  He pronounces Claudio as their D.F. Protector and himself as their local protector.  Before he leaves, he spills the frijoles that Gagme was the one who contacted him and even paid for his flight to D.F. to dish the dirt on Luciana but no way was he going to malign his little palomita.  This leaves Luciana open-mouthed impactada!

CASA TORRESLANDA (aka:  TERRORLANDIA)

Mati advises Rosa that Jana called to say she would be studying at Lula’s.  Frigida chimes in that Boris would presumably be there as well.  Rosa goes straight into rant mode.  She’s tired of hearing about Boris and how he’s always around Jana.  Next thing you know, they’ll be living together!  Pato tells her not to exaggerate – they’re novios and understandably want to be together all the time.  Melissa suggests they should trust Jana since they all know she’s a good girl.  Rosa thanks her sarcastically for her two centavos but the subject is now closed!

Oscar comes in and Connie asks him to join them at the dining table.  He sweetly tells her he just came by to give her a kiss. *sigh*  The subject switches to Rosa’s doctor visit.  She reminds them it wasn’t an appointment but just an MRI she agreed to only to appease their father.  If it were up to her, she wouldn’t go to a doctor at all.  Rodrigo suggests she not ignore her health and that preventive care is the best medicine.  Rosa replies that she doesn’t need his sermons, thank you very much, and this convo is giving her a headache.  Now Oscar chimes in, saying it isn’t a sermon so much as her kids showing their concern for her health.  Connie shares that the results of the MRI (resonancia magnéticia) should be ready tomorrow and she will talk to the doctor herself and share the outcome with everyone.  Rosa is now pithed that her sister is now acting as her nurse.  This has ruined her appetite and asks Frigida to bring her some tea (what’s in that tea anyway – LSD?).  Now Max and Aldo show up and we have a full table, sans Jana.  Max tells her he comes straight from church where he spoke with Padre Honesto about Rosa!  Rosa is surprised the Padre is worried about her.  Connie, Rod, and Pato all proclaim their concern for her.  Rosa’s had enough.  She will retire to her room with her headache.  Max announces he has a lot of monkey business--er, work to take care of and excuses himself.  Everyone except Rod and Pato leave the table.

Connie leads Oscar to the other room and Melissa joins them.  Oscar begins to talk about their vacay where they will finally be alone (all this in front of her daughter – eeeew).  They’re leaving tomorrow and returning Sunday.  Frigida overhears all of their plans.

GAGME’S GAGALICIOUS LAIR

Julie can’t believe her spawn is planning to leave the city after last night’s horizontal tango with Rodrigo, saying it’s dangerous to leave him alone.  Gagme is convinced the danger is over now that the domestica *hic* has left the city.  Julie sits her down for a Diabla/Spawn talk.  Has Gagme considered what could happen now that Claudio is surely on the verge of discovering that Luciana is his daughter?  Julie reminds her that Paz already confronted Rosa TorresLoca.  What’s to keep her from telling Luciana? (oh if she only knew – eek!)  Luciana would surely come to the full understanding that she is now of a another social class and with lots of money!  She reminds them that Linares was a major partner of Max and although he’s been in jail for 20 years, he surely must have property and cash in offshore banks.  Remember el dicho “más tiene el rico cuando empobrece que el pobre cuando enriquece.”  (loosely translated the impoverished rich has more than the poor that has become rich – is that a fair translation?)  Bottom line:  with money comes power.  Luciana will find herself empowered and will stop at nothing to play the victim and unveil their evil plan to separate her from Rod.  If that’s the case, you may as well say adios forever to Rod and forget about all the perks that come with his fortune.

Gagme assures her there’s nothing to worry about; she’ll be back in a few days.  She gets a call just then from Frigida who’s found out about the Columbian trip.  Frigida wants to make sure she gets paid for all the info she’s provided.  She can’t be sure that Gala will return and wants to bring their account current.  Gala’s peeved at La Gata’s impertinence.

San Francisco el Alta

Magda, Paz and Ariche are shopping when Lucha comes upon them.  They explain they’re picking out things for a gift basket for a friend from D.F.  Lucha says she knows all about Magda’s “friend” and furthermore knows he’s her galán – the whole town knows.  Magda is properly offended.

Magda’s House

The time has come for Luciana and Pops to say goodbye.  Luciana doesn’t want him to leave but she’s also not ready to return to D.F. anytime soon.  He’s very understanding but leaves her with Aurora’s picture, her Moms.  He wants her to always keep it with her.  She promises to hold it close and hopes he’ll return soon.  She’s worried about what is going to happen with Rosa TorresLoca.  Claudio assures her he will confront her and she will suffer the consequences of her evil actions, including jail time.

Speaking of the evil Rosa TorresLoca

She and Mati are in her bedroom.  Rosa is wondering if Paz has told Linares the truth about Luciana.  Mati is just as concerned that any minute now Paz is surely going to reveal everything.  Rosa says she’s not worried but Mati tells her she sure as hell should be.  Linares is sure to come and confront her in her own home!  Rosa’s not afraid of him or anyone!  She’s confident Linares believed all the BS she fed him.  Mati doesn’t understand how she can be so sure, so arrogant.  Rosa is appalled that Mati would speak to her in such a way.  Well, Mati’s not done.  She goes on to say that Rosa’s arrogance has blinded her to the damage her actions will cause her children when they discover the lengths to which she’s gone to hurt the innocent, especially Luciana.  That did it – Rosa kicks her out.  Before she leaves, Mati assures her that after everyone has abandoned her, after she is left completely alone, she (Mati) will stand by her.  Rosa screams at her to get out -- ¡Largate!

Left alone, Rosa speaks to herself.  She doesn’t care what happens.  She’d do it all over again, 1,001 times! ¡¡¡¡Te odio, Luciana, te odio!!!!  Ooooh, scary……..

Back at San Franciso…….

Saint Luciana asks Pops not to harm Rosa.  He can’t believe she would be so good after all the harm Rosa’s done.  Luciana explains she wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to her.  She’s the mother of the man she loves --and Pato’s and Jana’s.  She wouldn’t want them to suffer because of Rosa.

It’s time to leave and Claudio begins his goodbyes, asking her to call him for anything she may need.  He hopes that someday she’ll come to call him Papá.  Magda, Paz, and Ariche arrive (where IS this child’s mother!??).  Claudio once again profoundly thanks Paz for raising Luciana.  He gives Luciana a cell phone, even though it doesn’t work here.  He will arrange for a landline to be installed.  She sweetly blesses him before he leaves.

Pato’s Room

Rod and Pato are enjoying a video game and Rod notes that Pato’s motor skills have improved.  Connie comes by with some news about their mom.  She tells them that Mom is now under the care of a neurologist, not a cardiologist.  She feels there is something seriously wrong with Rosa.  Rosa is fed up with all the tests and will surely refuse any further treatment/tests the neurologist may recommend.  Pato and Rod agree to support Connie in her efforts to get Rosa the help she needs.

AIRPORT

Claudio’s partner, Barrera meets him at the airport and wants to talk about the investigation.  Claudio doesn’t want to talk about that now and immediately calls Rosa la Loca telling her they must speak.  She’s all business and readily agrees to meet him tomorrow.

TORRESLANDA  HOME

Boris hesitates to come in after Rosa’s rude behavior.  Jana tells him there’s nothing to worry about. He hopes she won’t break up with him because of what happened with Rosa.  He wants them to continue to date and eventually marry.  Jana avoids this conversation and rushes inside just as Rosa is leaving for church.

MAXIMEANIE/VICKY LOVE NEST

Max is alone, impatiently pacing the floor waiting for Vicky who is struggling to leave the salon.  Nicole is not cooperating and won’t let her leave.  If she leaves, she needn’t return.  We come back to Max who’s tired of waiting.  He leaves her a note telling her to leave the keys and get the hell out!  He gets into the car and angrily tells Aldo to get going.  Aldo secretly texts Vicky:  Did  you have a fight with Osito?  He’s furious!

Back at Nicole’s, Vicky is miserable and Nicole tells her to get over it.  She tells Vicky that while he may be very important, he should respect Vicky’s job.  She’s not some doll that he can play with anytime he wants.  She tells Vicky she should demand some respect.  (uh we all know that’s not gonna happen)

PADRE HONESTO’S OFFICE

Rosa has run to the good Padre to tell him that the sh** is hitting the fan real soon.  Surely Claudio is now aware of everything that happened  19 years ago.  She’s very worried about what her kids will think of her.  Padre tells her to come clean and get this over with for her own good.

CEMETERY OFFICE

Claudio arrives and demands to see the records from 1993 and he wants them now!

VIOLETA’S DEPA

Vio and her friend the nurse (egads, can never remember this lady’s name) are eating when Marcial comes a-knocking!! Vio immediately tells him to scram.  Instead, the nurse scrams (some friend).  Vio isn’t interested in anything he has to say.  He tells her he loves her and that his life with Flor is over with.  She mocks surprise and says this is what all the men say.  She would never separate his kids from their father – never!  But his home is hell, he can’t stand it anymore.  She tells him to buck up and do it for his kids, then.  This is what parents do.  She tells him she was raised without a father’s love and that’s the last thing she would wish for his children and tells him yet again to get out.

San Francisco

Don Aquiles comes calling once again at Magda’s and they have an amusing exchange.  He tells her he’s come to see the circus owner not the little animals (animalitos).  She shoots back that she’s the owner of this here circus and she’ll be the one who decides which animalitos enter.  He begins to tease her about her D.F. boyfriend when Luciana steps in.  Aguiles says he’s glad she’s back and offers his help in anything she may need.  “Tu no mas dices rana, y yo brinco” (just say frog, and I’ll jump).  “If that “relamido” left you for that “señorita Villa Mis Polaimes”, there’s a man here that will defend you.”  He finally leaves and as she’s closing the door, she spins around and gets a dizzy spell.  She sits but says that what Don Aquiles said has caused her to think again about Rod.  She can’t drive Rod from her mind for a single second.  She vowed to love him for the rest of her life and now it looks as though that’s how it’s gonna be.

Later Luciana confesses to Paz that she has some doubts.  Try as she might, she’s struggling to accept the fact that Paz not her mother even though she will always think of her as such.  Paz assures her she’ll always be her mother.  Luciana worries about Lorenzo.  She can’t believe that although they’re not related, she and Lorenzo are so similar in many things.  Paz tells her that although they may not carry the same blood, they’re brother and sister just the same.  Luciana worries about how they’ll tell Lorenzo.  Paz knows they’ll just have to find the right time to tell him.

TORRESLANDA ENVIRONS

Rod arrives at his office and declines his friend’s offer to go out tonight with everyone – he doesn’t wish to see Gala.  He seems surprised to hear that Gala really did go to Colombia. Max comes in to tell them he’s called a meeting.

Meanwhile in Bogotá, Colombia, Gala is on the phone with Julie talking over her plan not to call Rodrigo.

And at the Torreslanda home, Pato is exercising his right hand when he notices his left index finger moves!!!

Later, Jana and Pato make plans to contact Luciana.  Since she has no access to cell phone or internet, they’ll just have to write her a letter, something Jana laughs at since she’s never written one.  How quaint.

Meanwhile up in her tower of terror, Rosa, aka Lady Macbeth, is doing her bedtime ritual (“Out, damned spot. Out, I say!”) hmmm, just WHAT is she trying to rub off her hands?  Could it be all her evil deeds?  Claudio calls and they set a date to meet tomorrow.

THE FOLLOWING MORINING:

Luciana receives word that some of her pottery was entered in a contest, and she’s won!  I always wondered what happened to her pots when she was headed for DF.

Rosa is in her chapel praying for strength to face the day she’s dreaded for so long.  Mati comes in, offering to accompany her to her meeting with Claudio.  Rosa says this is her problem and hers alone.

The standoff is at the cemetery begins.  Claudio comes up behind Rosa and tells her she will confess everything to him here and now --  in front of Aurora’s grave.

Paquita--You saved me from una mortificacion y humillacion (a real lifesaver). Gracias. More later. Anita

Wonderful Paquita! The showdown begins. Just because Luci says he can't put Rosa in jail, doesn't mean Claudio can't torture her with the truth. :)

Well, even though Aquiles is a pest, at least he knows Luci and her family have legal back up. No stealing of lands or kidnapping or any other legal hanky panky. Straight to jail he'll go!

Looks like Luci may be on her way to becoming the famous potter she dreamed about. Yay!

Also, Pato has made progress. Let's get both those arms working so that he can give Luci that hug he dreamed about.

Paquita, great recap, thank you.

This was another great episode. So poor Frigida is worried about getting her money. LOL.

I can hardly wait for the showdown. They are both very good actors so it should be terrific.

I was pleased to see all of Pato's hard work is paying off. It is really too bad that his mother is not more involved in his life. It would probably be very therapeutic and would do whole lot more good than her praying.

I love when Aquiles and Magda start sparring, neither one backs down. She is probably the only one in town that is not afraid of him and his bluster.

I sure hope Connie and Oscar are able to get out of dodge for the weekend.

I am surprised that Julie has not staked a claim on Claudio.

We got confirmation tonight that Claudio was the majority partner in the business, as we had guessed. So Max really did steal Claudio's business from him-- started with mostly Claudio's money. Now, I REALLY want Claudio to take the whole company back.

I was hoping when Rosa showed up at Aurora's grave Claudio would just push her in and end it once and for all. Considering how few supporters she has you'd think Rosa would be nicer to Mati instead of shrieking at her.

Thinking about that scene at the table i couldn't help thinking that for someone who puts such emphasis on things being done correctly and with respect she sure doesn't have any respect for anyone else's opinions.

I too am surprised Julie hasn't made a move to meet Claudio, after all there isn't a hefty bank account she doesn't like, then again he is a mature man and she is a cougar.

So Gagme made it to Bogota. Where is a handy plane crash when you need one? Do have to laugh that while she is sitting around thinking NimRod won't be able to get her out of his mind he is telling all and sundry he doesn't want to see/talk/shag her.

Wondering if Luci winning a pottery contest will end up sending her back to the DF. This story can not move forward unless she does.

Did I hear right during the previews? Did Rosa tell Claudio that Luci is not his daughter? I sure wouldn't put it past her to trot out her Max and Aurora affair card.

I doubt Claudio would buy that. He'll head to the nearest doctor for a DNA test and prove her wrong.

For all her offenses against God and her family, I'd love to see her hit by a lightning bolt.

Paquita thank you so much for this wonderful recap. I like your easy style, it is so easy to follow.

I liked the confrontation with Aquiles and Claudio. I wonder though if Don A really meant what he said about helping Luci. He was nice to her in the DF. Maybe he is changing his ways.

So Rosa la Loca continues to think she can just hand sanitizer her way through all the guilt, lol. She and her son are so much alike that way, no matter how much you wash/hand sanitizer your body/hands, the guilt and shame will never go away.

Yay, Pato for the movement of his other hand. Hopefully by the end of this TN he will be walking. I too want him to be able to hug Luci.

Marcial has a nerve. Paquita, the nurse's name is Serena. If I had been Serena I wouldn't have left. I would have stayed as backup for Vio. Marcial is such a stalker. He needs to take care of his problems before chasing after other women. He is scary. I like how Vio is so much like her Mama Magda.

So our suspicions were right about Claudio as Vivi said. I wonder if the company was always called Torreslanda and not something else. Now Claudio knows the full extent of what the Torreslandas have done to him. I can't wait for this confrontation with Claudio and Rosa la Loca. I always get the good confrontations.

I am glad Luci still thinks of Paz as her mother. I think Paz was right too about Lorenzo. He will always think of Luci as his sister, no matter what. They have always been so close I don't see that changing. Luci is very forgiving it seems. I like how she thinks of Pato and Hanna and even DEAD TO ME, as far as their crazy mama goes, but she suffered so much at Rosa's hands. Luci truly is a saint.

How apropos that Claudio confronts the loca at the grave site of Aurora. I'm with Decie Girl, I wish Claudio would push her in, serve her right. I really hope Rosa will pay for everything she has done.

I noticed Gagme is still calling Luci the domestica. She said it last night and tonight. I guess she will always call her that. Money would never change Luci. Only those money grubbing brujas never thought of that. Speaking of class, Luci has more in her little finger then those two have ever had.

As far as Claudio and Julie, Claudio would see right through Julie. She would never get far with him, as she tried to do with Oscar. Oscar can't stand her either. I like Oscar and Connie but I agree with Paquita, ewww they should have saved the little sexy talk after Melissa left. Melissa looked like she was blushing.

Paquita thanks for your recap.

That Rosa is something. I'm actually looking forward to seeing her try to lie to Claudio about Luci. Since Claudio isn't crazy and knows his wife was faithful to him, I believe the writers will have him brush that off as another one of her lies; does he know about the grave robbing? Bottom line, Claudio will take UA's suggestion and a get DNA test.

And Rosa's hatred of Luci,it's irrational. I guess we could ask which came first but from our posts yesterday, Rosa chose to do wrong and then became crazy.

It's hilarious that Gagme is thinks Rod is pining for her. Some people get things so wrong.

thanks for the recap paquita! it was entertaining, esp. Terrorlandia & Rosa Torresloca, hahaaha

agree vivi, hopefully he makes rosa squirm, but she'll prob just justify herself with her crazy usual nonsense.

I wonder how far pato is going to progress by the end of the tn. right now it seems like they'll pretty much stretch it till the end...is it even possible, even within tn standards to walk again? hopefully he'll recover his movement is his upperbody at least

jlk

Great recap Paquita. Love the Lady MacBeth reference. Rosa never ceases to amaze, or nauseate, how ever you look at it.

I had a feeling Mrs. Delusional would pull the Max/Aurora affair card. I have a feeling I know her mental problem as I had to live with someone who had the same issue. The false reality they believe in so strongly and keep repeating over and over REALLY does become their reality in their mind. Everyone else has to be wrong, even if facts are laid before them. She has hung unto that belief on Max for so long, she's convinced it has to be the truth, and of course "justifies" whatever she has done. Very difficult to deal with that.

Claudio however is no push over and he either will blow that off immediately, or will go for the DNA test. That little farewell scene with Luci was so sweet. Had me sniffling.

Gala is so full of herself. I sometimes wonder if we're seeing a Rosa in the making. Either she is so convinced her antics in the bedroom are bar none, or she is delusional as well. She had to see the Dumbass wasn't exactly fawning all over her in happiness after their little roll in the hay.

I'm getting bored with Lurch, ur Frigida. Now she's just annoying with her eavesdropping and phone calls. Hope she's left with nothing at the end.

So how long have we figured it's been between wedded bliss night and Luci's latest fainting spell last night? Wouldn't she start suspecting something by now? (This fainting thing bugs the blazes out of me--had twins and never fainted or felt faint and I was anemic.)

Paquita: Smiled away at your "dumping" theme! This was fantastic. Witty and wonderful. My favorites were "Diabla/Spawn talk: and "(“Out, damned spot. Out, I say!”) hmmm, just WHAT is she trying to rub off her hands? Could it be all her evil deeds?". Perfect!

Connie's assertion "She feels there is something seriously wrong with Rosa" was underwhelming. I adore Connie, but really??? I hope you are just not now figuring that out.

I wanted Linares to spring forward and strangle Aquiles for his imperious attitude. Alas, Claudio showed much restraint and I must reluctantly admit, handled him with kid gloves, employing great tact.

Madelaine, had I been Serena, I would not have left Vio alone either! Marcial is definitely dangerous.

Rosemary, "I am surprised that Julie has not staked a claim on Claudio" - yes, Julie has no loyalty, except to the almighty dollar. She'd sell her (or Gala's) soul for dinero without hesitation.

Diana

I have been wondering who Gala's father is/was. Will we eventually find out that Julie was a lady who was paid for services?

That would be an interesting turn.

Thanks for the recap, Paquita. I totally missed that the messenger was about ceramics. I was guessing it was about her exam results--so I hope we will get those soon too.

In the previews we see Rosa tell Claudio that Luci isn't his daughter--and I know she must be about to play the card about Luci being Max's daughter. I swear I could reach through the TV and choke that lady. Evil incarnate-and no brain tumor will make me feel differently!

I wish Claudio would say to Rosa--"I'll keep your dirty secret and not press charges, but only if you repair the damage you have done with Rod and Luci and always support their happiness." Wishful thinking I know since we still have a long way to go.

I am just so glad that there is more happening now than Rod's stupidity. For a couple of weeks there I almost gave up....Looking forward to tonight!

Oh, and @urban anthropologist--my guess on Gala's daddy: SATAN!

Thanks so much to the recappers! I have been too busy to comment lately, although I have been a faithful recap reader, especially if I miss the episode.

I enjoyed the discussion yesterday of which came first - Rosa's craziness, or the evil deeds.

Rosa already had a an obsessive blind jealously due to Max's admiration of Aurora, and being convinced they were having an affair. Unfortunately, her nimRod son seems to have inherited this characteristic. So, then, having convinced herself that the baby was a product of her husband's affair with Aurora, she gives away the child. Seems like the guilt from this criminal act for an otherwise devout woman starts her spiral into insanity, but having covered up her crime well and her allies remaining silent, it festers unseen for a long, long time.

Finally, 19 years later, Claudio Linares is released from jail and simultaneously, Aurora appears to haunt her in the flesh and she finally realizes Luciana is the infant she had supposedly "gotten rid of". This would have sent Rosa over the edge and her craziness starts to manifest itself very explicitly.

It's so disgusting to see Rosalena chanting "I hate you, I hate you, Luciana!" Totally loca! She has so demonized this poor innocent girl. I worry that Rosa will try to kill her at some point (speculation). I really don't understand how the kids tolerate their horrid mother.

Max has a hell of a nerve too. What does he think, Vicky can just drop everything to go shag him, anytime he wants? What about her job? I guess he doesn't care about that. I am glad Nichole stuck to her guns and told Vicky you leave, that's it you're done. Vicky needs a backbone already. I think Vicky is afraid poor Don J will be fired again over this latest "missed shag" with Maximeanie.

The thing that disturbs me the most about Rosa is that the whole time she pretended to love Aurora like a sister, she really hated her. I cannot get past that deception of Aurora while she was dying. Rosa has probably been mentally ill her entire life, she was just able to hid it very, very well. Her house of lies is finally starting crumble. May Dios grant her no mercy, just as she treated most people around her.

Rosemary Primera

It seems to me that Rosa's docs are trying to rule out that she has a tumor or something like that which would explain her behavior, but that they suspect she has a mental ilness. They can't make that diagnosis until all other possibilities have been explored. I think the family will have a hard time accepting that Rosa is mentally ill, although they should ALL already know this. I found some interesting info on MRI's helping show that someone has a mental illness (not just ruling out other causes for problems). See below:

"MRI / CT scans are done to exclude neurological illness. However, there is increasing evidence that they can be used to help diagnose mental illness. Certain brain changes have been noted in the brains of patients suffering from mental illness, including schizophrenics, bipolar patients, psychopaths, etc. An abnormal finding in patients with bipolar disorder is the existence of "bright white spots" (hyperintense areas in the brain) on the MRI. Hyperintensities have been associated with a change in water content of brain tissue at the location of the hyperintensity. Although the cause of these areas of hyperintensities is not known for certain, the presence of these bright white spots is more common in patients with bipolar illness compared to controls. This finding suggests that there may be brain differences in patients with bipolar illness compared to normal controls."

¨Julie sits her down for a Diabla/Spawn talk.¨ Good one, Paquita! Very clever and funny!

I enjoyed the recap immensely!

Does this sound like someone we know?

"People with bipolar disorder experience unusually intense emotional states that occur in distinct periods called "mood episodes." An overly joyful or overexcited state is called a manic episode, and an extremely sad or hopeless state is called a depressive episode. Sometimes, a mood episode includes symptoms of both mania and depression. This is called a mixed state. People with bipolar disorder also may be explosive and irritable during a mood episode... It is possible for someone with bipolar disorder to experience a long-lasting period of unstable moods rather than discrete episodes of depression or mania… A person having a hypomanic episode may feel very good, be highly productive, and function well. This person may not feel that anything is wrong even as family and friends recognize the mood swings as possible bipolar disorder… Sometimes, a person with severe episodes of mania or depression has psychotic symptoms too, such as hallucinations or delusions… They may also become angry, irritable, and aggressive–picking fights, lashing out when others don’t go along with their plans, and blaming anyone who criticizes their behavior… Stressful life events can trigger bipolar disorder in someone with a genetic vulnerability. These events tend to involve drastic or sudden changes–either good or bad."

I am so over Vicky & Max… I simply cannot take her stupidity anymore. I understand she may be worried about her father’s job, but I doubt that is the reason she is staying with Max. She is weak!

If I were Melissa (she is so pretty, BTW), I would have gagged at my mother & new boyfriend fawning all over each other... but I do love Oscar & Connie!

I suppose Luci’s pottery winning the contest is what is going to bring her back to DF –we know something is going to bring her back. I for one am ready for another Luci/ Rod encounter and I am praying he man’s up to his role as a MAN!

Cannot wait for tonight… she’s gonna pull the Max/ Aurora affair card, but we will get to the bottom of that quickly! It’s gonna be a good one tonight!

Vivi,

Wow, you did a lot of research. Thanks.

Whoa Vivi...that info on bi-polar syndrome was great. Yep, sure sounds like our lovely Roselena.

@Paquita...wonderful, smooth-flowing recap with lots of humor and insight.

"Magda tells him [Don Aquiles] what he can do with his version of what happened." Love it!

Thanks for pitching in for Anita and entertaining us all so well to boot.

Diana - while we hope Connie has known this "fact" about her sister, her (and Mati) not speaking up about baby Luci has only enabled Senora Loca for 19 years.

UA - that would be great if "high-class" Julie was a "high-class" call girl.

Anna - Gala's father as Satan, excellent!

Mads - Yes, Max is horrible. He's a CEO and leave his office anytime he pleases. Vicky can't especially if she wants to keep her job. I'm glad her boss told her she could not leave. And ITA w/NoleGirl, in spite of the abuse, Vicky wants Max and that is so disturbing.

RP - Great point about Rosa pretending to be Aurora's friend.

Vivi - thanks for the MRI/bi-polar info. The BP def has Rosa written all over it.

As much as I'd like to see Pato up and about and giving NimRod a run for his money, I'm glad that this novela is portraying his accident and rehab realistically. Far too many of them indulge in the instant cure, pray to the Virgin and viola healed. That tends to make light of a serious thing. Since we know that Luci is pregnant (they aren't going to give her a brain tumor) probably about two month along in TN time at least a year should go by before the end and so with little bits of progress along the way Pato may be able to hug Luci. It seems to me the doctors weren't so optimistic about him walking but i may have misheard that. In some ways I wish they had used the hysterical paralysis that they did in the prior version because then he could be up and walking.

Snorted when Don A told Claudio he was Luci's protector - as if. Most protectors aren't trying to force a young girl to marry them. Claudio read him correctly immediately and backed the bully into a corner with that subtle warning about the law.Het Het would be better off if the whole town did the same.

I may be alone on this one but i don't think Marcial is dangerous nor a typical TN stalker. He is an undercover cop who has been working Infierno and there must be a reason for it. I think he wants to warn Vi to be careful but she has that same stubborn streak that Luci has and he did lie to her about a lot of things. I'm the curious type so I'd like to sit down and let him explain (she is doing the same thing that Rod did not giving him a chance). I did however like her telling him she is not going to be responsible for children being raised without their father. that one shocked him.

I also like that Rosa is being put through medical tests to find out what her problem is. We have mercifully been saved from one of those TN scenes where everyone is told to treat her carefully because of her nervios. That always drives me BSC.

So Max dumps Vicki, that actually surprised me since he seemed to enjoy tormenting her. He does have boatload on his plate with a wacky wife and Claudio barreling down on him. The last thing he needs is problems with a young mistress. Vicki is not the sharpest knife in the drawer bur she would be well advised to get another job, cut Aldo off at the pass and not continue trying to fix thinks with Max.

What did Don Aquiles mean when he called Gala "señorita Villa Mis Polaimes"? I'm sure it must be an insult but couldn't find this word in the dictionary.

Vicki should get rid of Max but Nicole may be a good influence on her. She needs a strong woman role model. Maybe she could go to Het Het for a bit and learn from the best.

Do we know how many episodes this TN is?

Nole Girl

I read this novela is 165 chapters ending in Sept in Mexico and November here. From my perspective thst is long enough and I pray we don't get stupid with traditional TN craziness.

Hello Paquita,Thank you for a wonderful recap. As usual you don't disappoint. Don A is a pervert, but his crooked heart is in the right place. As far as Luci is concerned anyway. He should be married to Rosa. They are both delusional.
I can't wait to see that smugness slapped out of Gala. She is so sure of her sexual power over "Dead to me"
If only the jerk wasn't so lame, the issued could be resolved with just two words. PITY SEX. And while he is at it,he should also tell her he scubbed her off him. That should take care of her ego sufficiently. He is so easily manipulated.First his mother and now Gala. What a whimp.A huffing and puffing one but a whimp non the less.

Forgot to add Paquita that I loved your heading "Gagalicious Lair". Great word power there!

Paquita, many thanks! You have a great way of making your recaps flow.

Roselena reminds me of Linda Blair's character in "The Exorcist" what with the involvement of both doctors and Padre Honesto who may soon have to call in a Father Merrin.

Vivi, very interesting information about using MRIs in diagnosing mental illness. I'd hope that no one would use an MRI as a definitive diagnosis because that has a little too much of the flavor of Phrenology.

Now here's my question: we've seen many times Roselena and Connie working their faces w/ tissues at bedtime, but is it CONCHANACARVENUS? Or is it some random Garnier stuff that Silvia Navarro didn't finish using on CME. If it is in fact CONCHANACARVENUS, boy, that's some lousy product placement since we don't get to see the pot from which they dip. Either way, Maximino's spending a lot on Kleenex.

Thanks, Decie Girl, for the # of episodes for this novela. I searched and searched on-line but couldn't find the answer. Yesterday was Ep 127 in Mexico, so they have 38 episodes left!

!Mis polaines! is like saying "my foot!" or "my ass!" as an expression of incredulity, but I can't explain the Señorita Villa part of it.

I loved it (epi before) when Don A marched into the house, saw Lic Linares and said "And which instrument do you play in this orchestra, buddy (amigo)?" ROTFLOL! When I can understand his garbled speech, he's hilarious.

Gala's last name is Villavicencio, so that's where the Villa part comes from. I love when he uses that nickname for her. Yes, Don A is disgusting in many ways, but he can also be really funny.

LOL Mike! I had just assumed that Connie and Rosa were using generic cold cream/makeup remover. But maybe it is the miracle CONCHANACARVENUS cream that they advertise all the time!

ITA agree about donA audrey. when he's not being gross and chasing girls that are way too young for him, he can be quite funny. IMO, his character is kind of complex like max's. He has his evil streaks, but I don't think he's a total villain.

does anybody know what's that one word he constantly says?? I really cannot make out one bit of that word that I would not even begin to know how to spell it.

Hey Mike! Saludos. Who's the cutie with an Emilia Beanie in your snap?

Audrey--I missed the instrument line. That is funny.

I think what Don A was referring to as to being Luci's protector in HetHet is that he is now "reformed" (we hope). He didn't like what Gagme & Yuulie were doing to Luci when he got his way paid and back to DF (including hotel) to support their case that she was a mesera who served up benefits along with the drinks. He refused to help them and went back to HetHet.

I don't think he's interested in trying to marry Luci again, unless she wants to and has offered her everything he has, which she so far has refused (as we expect her to). He ruined his chances at the starting gate by kidnapping her and trying to force her into a marriage.

Claro, it helps that Linares and his firm are also looking out for her interests--and of Paz's. So, while Linares isn't in HetHet to "look after her," he'll be the substitute, while Linares looks after her interests in DF.
Anita

Well, with that many episodes left (gee, only half way through!), we still have time to introduce a love interest for Pato. While I truly will only be happy with a Luci/Rod outcome, I'll be sad if this ends with Pato alone & loving Luci... and unable to walk!

Any thoughts on a possible senorita for Pato?

NoleGirl- I like Norma, Claudio's assistant. Others have suggested Vio, but I want Polo for her since he loves her so much. Also, if Estelita's daughter ever comes back, she's single too and Marianita really likes Pato. Serena is the only other single girl who's not related to Pato, but she's a bit too ditzy I think.

Hi Anita, that's our new granddaughter Aly. She's three weeks old today. OMG! Three weeks today and we didn't buy her a present!!

Can you tell she's our first grandkid? And Emilia will be pleased that you recognized her crochet skills.

Vivi, Norma seems pretty bright, as in, too bright to put up w/ Roselena's BS. Now, if Norma and Pato were to go to another country to live that would be a much different story w/ a high likelihood of a happy ending.

oohhh... I missed the first few episodes of this TN and was unaware of Marianita's mama and that she is single. That could be a possibility for sure since they will no doubt being her back (soon??). I like Norma as well.

I'm sure someone will come along for him and hopefully she won't be a Loony Toon like Gagme (or Rosa).

kelly, audrey,
polainas in spanish means (per dict)
gaiter, legging . annoyance, obstacle .

so audrey was right, basically he was saying Gala was an annoyance to him, compared to his Palomita.

Julie's vocabulary:
camarones empanizados = gambas con gabardina ROFLOL!!
