Refugio Para el Amor #89 Thu 8/9/12 Heard It From A Friend Who, Heard It From A Friend Who, Heard It From Another, Luci is Having a Baby.*
Estalita's Apartment:
We start tonight's episode with a meeting of the ladies, that would be Estalita, Vio, Serena, Ofelia and little Marianita. Vio is telling the ladies all about that bruja Flor in the park and about having her children with her! Vio feels very bad that Flor confronted her in front of the children, but unfortunetly Vio is still much in lurvve with Marcial. Ofelia tells Vio it is obvious that Marcial no longer loves Flor and besides Flor can't force Marcial to love her. Vio says she will never be with Marcial cause she just cannot take him away from his children.
Ofelia is going to call Mati for a job, oh, the horror, run Ofelia don't go there, and Estalita tells the assembled girls she talked to Claudio Linares ,who told her, wait for it, Luci is expecting a bebe. Vio is stunned.
Het Het:
Luci is lost in thought while Paz, Copio, Magda and Ariche move stuff into Paz's house, and Dona Luchita is of course "supervising" lol. Luci is still staring at Rod's picture. She puts it back in her wallet and cries.
Now we have Dona Luchita in a huff coming to see Don A. Dona Luchita is giving Don A hell for leaving Paz's house, where the Palomita lives, in such a mess. Dona Luchita wants Don A to help the ladies out, after all he got all that money. He dismisses her with a wave of his hand.
Don A must have listened to Dona Luchita cause guess who goes to visit Paz, anyone, that's right, Don A. Luci and Paz say oh, here he comes again! Luci tells Don A you promised not to bother us. Don A tells them, Magda is there too, that he heard the gossip about them needing some help, he promised Lic Linares he would help Luci anyway he could, and he is "loaning" them Barbosa for anything they need done. Barbosa just stands there as Don A leaves and the women are stunned. Don A comes back in and tells Barbosa he meant first thing in the morning and grabs him and goes, lol. Luci starts in that she absolutely, positively wants NO help from Don A, but Paz for once says au contraire, we could use all the help we can get, look at this place it is such a hot mess. Luci is still pithed cause she doesn't want his help, and Paz is looking at her funny, but Luci is still thinking of Mushashon.
Magda tells Paz and Luci she is going out to get some food. (Ed Note: I am a foodie and couldn't understand what Magda was going to get, it sounded like cocoalitas, if you know please comment, it looked yummy). Oh, Luci wants some of that, and Paz and Magda are giving Luci a knowing look. Paz wants to go with, but Magda tells her to stay with Luci and she'll be back quickly. After Magda goes, Luci tells Paz she has been thinking about what Don A said about the help and now she is all for it, it would be better. Paz looks at Luci funny and agrees (it's the hormones). Paz says they need all the help they can get. Paz is thinking it is time for Lorenzo to know that Luci is Claudio's. She feels Lorenzo is strong enough to hear it. Luci wants Lorenzo to know too, but what will he think? Paz says the same with you Luci, you need to go to the clinic in the morning and find out if you are having a baby. Paz tells her, in this house there are no secrets, and Luci agrees to go to the clinic tomorrow.
Don A is having a meeting with Barboso. And he tells Barbosa he will do everything he can to help Paz and her family, whatever Paz wants Barboso will do. He says si senor! Copio has come in to see Don A and gives Barboso the humph sound, lol. Copio does a good imitation of Don A, and kicks Barboso out the door and slams it shut. Don A is laughing. Don A says he wants to consult with Copio, he wants to know exactly what went on when Rod came to Het Het to see Luci and why he left. He wants to know everything. Why Rod left, why Luci stayed and what's the rush with fixing the house. Don A will even pay Copio for the info. Well Copio is insulted, he'll do it for free, impressario to impressario! Don A is laughing a takes a shot of tequila.
Magda has returned with that yummy food. The ladies want Luci to eat a little more, and Luci agrees, but says she isn't sure if she is having a baby. Paz says of course you are. She advises Luci to be calm and leave it all in Dios' hands. Luci says she will go in the morning. Luci remembers about the time that she was with Rod, on their honeymoon trip, when they had just delivered that baby, and they were talking about the many children they were going to have. Luci says it was all a dream. Paz and Magda once again urge her to go to the doc in the morning. Paz remarks to Luci that because of divine justice, Claudio found out his daughter is alive and now that daughter is having a child, his grandchild. Luci says oh yeah, but it will also have the blood of the Torreslandas!
Torreslanda Home:
Rosa and Conny are now talking outside at the table, and Conny is telling Rosa what a delightful weekend she had with Oscar and he is just such a gentleman. Rosa cuts her off by saying EXCUSE ME, don't want to hear it. Like TMI or something. Max comes up and asks if everything is ok? La Loca Rosa says things are fine, no worries. Max says he is very happy the whole family was assembled like this, it was wonderful having a meal like this. Conny brings up Claudio and wonders what the rest of the family will think when they find out Luci is Claudio's and who is going to tell them? Rosa has the deer in the headlights look again.
Max and Hanna are talking in Hanna's room. He is very impressed by the party she organized and the food too. He likes her organization skills. Hanna is happy he enjoyed it and that everything turned out well. Hanna tells Max the only thing she didn't like, was that Rosa treated Lorenzo so badly. Max blames it on Rosa being ill. Hanna is worried, and Max goes.
Rosa is in her and Max's bedroom, wearing a black short robe, and just gelling those hands to death with hand sanitzer, when Max walks in and asks her how she liked the meal. Rosa says it was just fine. Max remarks that everyone was happy and enjoyed themselves, heck even Gagme did too, so why wasn't Rosa happy like everyone else? Rosa is still pacing, and Max doesn't understand what is up with her. Of course la loca says everything is fine, great as she is still rubbing those hands with the hand sanitizer. Now she uses the excuse of Mati being late coming back and this is why she is perturbed. Max wants to know what that has to do with all the tea in China, not really but you get the drift. Rosa goes into real loca mode here, and tells Max, Mati brought back some very bad news with her. Luci is pregnant! Rosa has the repugnant look on her face and Max is stunned. Rosa repeats herself again, bout Luci and it is just horrible news. Max wants to know what is so bad about that? It's absurd. Max says the important thing is that the bebe is Rod's also known as DEAD TO ME, but I am giving him a break tonight. He is after all clueless. And besides it is a grandchild for them. Rosa seems to think, in the playground of her mind, that this bebe can't possibly be Rod's. Say What???? She says it was a bad marriage from the start and she never wants Rod to know about the bebe, eva. Max wants to know how she got this news. Rosa explains to Max how Mati found out: Mati heard it from Estalita, who heard it from Claudio, who heard it from Luci. Rosa says if Rod ever finds out, he will go in search of Luci again and of course Claudio will be involved now. Max can't wrap his head around the fact that it would be better, for Rod never to know and why Rosa keeps harping on that fact. Rosa keeps insisting, of course, that bebe is NOT ROD'S!!!!! Max gives Rosa the stinkeye.
Hanna and Melissa are in Hanna's room and Melissa is packing up to leave. Hanna doesn't want her to go, she wants her to stay. Hanna is having so may problems with Boris. Melissa says that's easy, you know you like Lorenzo, so fix it already. Then Hanna asks Melissa what about Claudio? Melissa tells Hanna she is curious. Hanna says of course she is, he's a grand guy. Hanna gives Melissa a pass, this time, but she wants to talk about it later. Melissa goes and Hanna gets a text from Boris on her ipad that says Hello my love.
Pato and Rod are watching a game in Pato's room and talking about Lorenzo and what a nice guy he is. Pato wants to know what was up with Gagme. Rod says she sincerly listened to him that they are just friends. Pato is looking at him like yeah, right. (Note to Rod: You are getting dumber by the minute, wake up already), but he also tells Pato he is still stuck on Luci. Melissa comes in to tell the guys bye. She is putting the finishing touches on her thesis, and is getting ready for her final exam. Both guys wish her luck and want to know how the thesis is looking. Melissa tells them Claudio Linares has been a huge help to her. Rod doesn't want to hear that, and is pithed.
Conny is in her little office, working, when Aldo comes in, gets himself some cognac and tells his Mama how great it is to work for his Tio, as a matter of fact Tio is giving him better work. He is laughing and Conny laughs with him and he tells his Mama how beautiful she is and wonderful, and she takes the cognac away and drinks some. Melissa comes in to say bye, and Aldo tells them both he loves them alot, and goes and Melissa and Conny laugh.
Gagme's Den of Iniquity:
Julie and Gagme are having a little repast and Julie is remarking how that Hanna had a nerve to have that "cha cha's" brother provide the tacos. Gagme tells Julie things went well with Rodrigo soon will be Mio, and they are friends, cause Rod es Mio is still stuck on Luci, but she's gone now and besides think of the mess if Luci had gotten pregnant! (Little does she know). Julie thinks its too bad Gagme isn't preggers. Gagme says it's stupid to think she would be pregnant after two days. Julie is looking a little naseous. Julie is pithed cause, wait for it, Conny "stole" Oscar from her. Ha! (Note to Julie- He can't stand you, jus' sayin').
Oscar's Love Pad:
Oscar has called Conny. Conny says she is very happy. Oscar wants to meet Conny first thing in the morning for some breakfast and some kisses. He wants a big KISS before work. lol. Conny says it so early and she laughs, but agrees. Oscar thanks her and kisses her through the phone, *sigh*.
Claudio's Office:
Claudio is looking in his desk for some files when he finds a big picture of Aurora. He talks to the picture and tells her that their daughter is having a child. He is feeling very fortunate.
The Next Day:
Het Het:
Luci is trying to rush Paz so they can go to the clinic already. Magda comes by and wants to go too. Paz agrees she should come. Paz asks Luci if she is nervous. Luci admits that she is, but she left it in the hands of Dios as her Mama asked her to. Paz is happy,and Luci is trying to rush them, she wants that test already.
Luci and Paz and Magda are waiting for the results of her test. Luci is pacing and wants to know already, and how long does this take anyway? Paz and Magda just smile at Luci. They tell Luci it takes a little time. Well the lab tech comes out and gives Luci her results and tells her, wait for it, now we all know what that test says, yes, she is going to be a Mama. Luci looks at the results herself and says I am going to be a Mama, for realz. Paz and Magda smile and all of them have tears in their eyes. Group hug.
Luci has gone to Copio's to call Claudio. Claudio wants to know if she went to the clinic. Luci, with results in hand, tells him she went with Magda and Paz, and yes she is going to be a Mama. Claudio takes the phone from his ear, stunned. Luci wants to know if he heard her. He puts the phone back to his ear and says he heard. He tells her he was alone for so long and now he has a daughter that is alive that that daughter is having his grandchild. He is happy and makes her promise that if she needs anything, anything at all, she is to call him. She promises to do so. He tells her he loves her and she tells him she loves him too, mushoes. They hang up. Claudio on his end says he will do everything in his power to protect Luci.
Luci, Magda and Paz have come back to Paz's and Magda is off to prepare a meal to bring back later. Luci says she is happy she told Claudio about the bebe. Paz wants Luci to come to her room, she has something to show her. Paz goes in and opens a box, takes out a blue blanket and a picture of Galindo, she sets on the bedside table. Luci wants to know what Paz has to show her. Paz takes out a pale blue box, with a crocheted top to it and asks Luci to open it, it belongs to her. She opens it and it is filled with a pink blanket. Oh, it isn't a blanket, it is a tiny baby outfit. Luci says it is so tiny and beautiful. Paz tells her that Luci was wearing this outfit the day Paz was given Luci. Paz tells Luci how she remembers Aurora Linares picking out all of Luci's outfits, before she was born. Just for Luci, both women cry.
The Hood:
Estalita gets a visit from Lorenzo and Fabian. They are there for that marvelous filling for their tacos. She wants to know how the party went, and they tell her great and Hanna was happy. Fabian tells Estalita bout the treatment they got from Rosa. Estalita isn't surprised, after all look how they treated Luci. Fabian also tells Estalita how Hanna introduced them to Max and Lorenzo says that Hanna has a boyfriend already. Then Estalita tells them about calling Claudio about Luci, how Mati high tailed it out of there especially about the news about Luci. Lorenzo wants to know what news. Ruh Roh, Estalita spills the frijoles about Luci having a bebe. Lorenzo is stunned.
Estalita is in the courtyard, and gives Lorenzo the blessing and wishes them luck in selling the tacos. She also tells them, not to say a word to anyone about Luci and to be discreet ( Now I have to say here, everyone knows already, except Hanna, Aldo, Conny, Melissa, Pato, Rod especially and Gagme, Julie and Frigid. Wanna bet how long it will take before it slips out, jus' sayin'). The only one that Estalita thinks knows is Mati, cause she happened to be there, little does she know that Mati runtolddat to Rosa already! The boys tell Estalita they won't and Lorenzo says when they get back later he will call Luci himself. The boys go.
Rod's Office:
Marcos and Gabe have come to Rod's office with the results of their findings of the fiscal and the economic health of Torreslanda. Rod calls Max.
Hanna's Prepa:
Lula is giving Hanna what for about Boris and how it is all Hanna's fault for making him upset. Hanna is like, say what? Lula tells Hanna she knows she likes Lorenzo and isn't Hanna thinking of marrying Boris? (Note to Hanna, you are way too young for that).
Meeting Room at Torreslanda's:
Marcos, Gabe, Pato, Rod, Oscar and Max are in a meeting about the reports that Gabe and Marcos did about the econmic and fiscal portion of the Torreslanda bidness. They tell Max that everything is great, no irregularities. Max is very happy with this news, he feels tranquil. Max says Claudio has no case. Oscar is on the phone and says the bank says the videos are on the way to Torreslanda and Max wants to see them pronto, in his office, as soon as they get there. Max wants to know if Gabe, Marcos and Rod are still pursuing that bidness in Canada. Rod says no, he is focused only on Torreslanda.

Luci wants to know what Paz has to show her. Paz takes out a pale blue box, with a crocheted top to it and asks Luci to open it, it belongs to her. She opens it and it is filled with a pink blanket. Oh, it isn't a blanket, it is a tiny baby outfit. Luci says it is so tiny and beautiful. Paz tells her that Luci was wearing this outfit the day Paz was given Luci. Paz tells Luci how she remembers Aurora Linares picking out all of Luci's outfits, before she was born. Just for Luci, both women cry.
The Hood:
Estalita gets a visit from Lorenzo and Fabian. They are there for that marvelous filling for their tacos. She wants to know how the party went, and they tell her great and Hanna was happy. Fabian tells Estalita bout the treatment they got from Rosa. Estalita isn't surprised, after all look how they treated Luci. Fabian also tells Estalita how Hanna introduced them to Max and Lorenzo says that Hanna has a boyfriend already. Then Estalita tells them about calling Claudio about Luci, how Mati high tailed it out of there especially about the news about Luci. Lorenzo wants to know what news. Ruh Roh, Estalita spills the frijoles about Luci having a bebe. Lorenzo is stunned.
Estalita is in the courtyard, and gives Lorenzo the blessing and wishes them luck in selling the tacos. She also tells them, not to say a word to anyone about Luci and to be discreet ( Now I have to say here, everyone knows already, except Hanna, Aldo, Conny, Melissa, Pato, Rod especially and Gagme, Julie and Frigid. Wanna bet how long it will take before it slips out, jus' sayin'). The only one that Estalita thinks knows is Mati, cause she happened to be there, little does she know that Mati runtolddat to Rosa already! The boys tell Estalita they won't and Lorenzo says when they get back later he will call Luci himself. The boys go.
Rod's Office:
Marcos and Gabe have come to Rod's office with the results of their findings of the fiscal and the economic health of Torreslanda. Rod calls Max.
Hanna's Prepa:
Lula is giving Hanna what for about Boris and how it is all Hanna's fault for making him upset. Hanna is like, say what? Lula tells Hanna she knows she likes Lorenzo and isn't Hanna thinking of marrying Boris? (Note to Hanna, you are way too young for that).
Meeting Room at Torreslanda's:
Marcos, Gabe, Pato, Rod, Oscar and Max are in a meeting about the reports that Gabe and Marcos did about the econmic and fiscal portion of the Torreslanda bidness. They tell Max that everything is great, no irregularities. Max is very happy with this news, he feels tranquil. Max says Claudio has no case. Oscar is on the phone and says the bank says the videos are on the way to Torreslanda and Max wants to see them pronto, in his office, as soon as they get there. Max wants to know if Gabe, Marcos and Rod are still pursuing that bidness in Canada. Rod says no, he is focused only on Torreslanda.
Advances:
Claudio vows to protect Luci, come what may.
Rosa tells Padre Honesto that Luci is having a baby!

This was a nice epi for once, no high drama except of course from la loca Rosa. But loved the fact Luci now knows she is having that bebe for sure,as Claudio does also. Claudio will do everything he can to protect Luci.

She needs to go to the manicomio. She is all about the secrets. I can't wait for the day the whole family finds out exactly what she did!

Great recap Madelaine. Yay! Luci has confirmation that she's preggers. I like how Magda said the baby has two grandmas, and a grandpa. I didn't pay attention to what the snack Magda went to get was, but what Luci said was that she had a craving (antojo) to have it with caramel. That's when Madga and Paz raised they eyebrows knowingly and teased her about having cravings. I like how they kept teasing her about all this typical pregnant woman stuff (cravings and moodiness), while she tried to remain in denial.

Vivi and Rosemary Primera- thank you both so much for being the first to comment. Thank you Vivi, for the clarification on what Luci wanted about the caramel, lol,now it makes sense why Paz and Magda were looking at Luci funny, lol. The cravings. I remember those, :).

Thanks a mil for the recap cuz, my DVR didn't work AGAIN and this recap is so much more informative than watching "PARTIAL SIGNAL LOSS!" warning on the screen for an hour.

Superb recap! Thanks Madelaine. you're right, except for the usual dose of Rosa craziness ( which makes me go into "La La La I can't hear you" mode, no big drama but the episode was enjoyable.
They desperately need to now get some color and warmth into that new place in Het Het. I actually sat last night during some of the scenes thinking, "Oh, some pillows and cushions would look great on that bench, oh and on the table they should get....". Big roomy place though....enough room for a wheelchair to move around. Me bad. I want Pato in Het Het.
Apple, meet tree. Now we know where Gagme gets her issues with delusion. Connie stole Oscar? Cripes. I almost spit out my coffee over that and thought I heard it wrong. Please tell me this drunk isn't going to cause trouble with our two lovebirds? We need some couple to be happy.
Hanna, just give Boris to Lu already. As always, Max can be the biggest asshole, but then he's the best father with his kids. Loved how he complimented Hannah and how supportive he was thru the whole party. Just going to make his evil deeds that much harder to take for these kids. Dang.

Now she uses the excuse of Mati being late coming back and this is why she is perturbed. Max wants to know what that has to do with all the tea in China, not really but you get the drift. Rosa goes into real loca mode here, and tells Max, Mati brought back some very bad news with her. Luci is pregnant! Rosa has the repugnant look on her face and Max is stunned. Rosa repeats herself again, bout Luci and it is just horrible news. Max wants to know what is so bad about that?... Rosa seems to think, in the playground of her mind, that this bebe can't possibly be Rod's. Say What???? ... Rosa explains to Max how Mati found out: Mati heard it from Estalita, who heard it from Claudio, who heard it from Luci. Rosa says if Rod ever finds out, he will go in search of Luci again and of course Claudio will be involved now. Max can't wrap his head around the fact that it would be better, for Rod never to know and why Rosa keeps harping on that fact. Rosa keeps insisting, of course, that bebe is NOT ROD'S!!!!! Max gives Rosa the stinkeye.
Rosa is BEYOND insane... she has wrapped herself and her family into this little alternate fantasy world of hers and she really believes everything she spits out to them... creepy...

Wow Madelaine...you started it off with a bang with that great title. Way to get things rolling. And like everybody else, thought your "playground of the mind" was pure genius. Think that phrase will be coming back a lot as this telenovela progresses.

I'd love to revive the movie discussion because I thought of a new one that is truly inspired.

RP- I heard that convo wrong, I thought Conny said to Rosa what would the rest of the family think if they found out what Rosa had done, but Vivi clarified that and said what Conny actually said was For Max and Rosa to tell the family right now and not to wait. I watch these TN's with no cc's, just on hearing only.
RP or did you mean Conny trying to tell Rosa how her weekend went with Oscar? The the Oscar convo, Rosa did not want to hear anything Conny had to say, it was too TMI (Too Much Information) for her, lol. That's when the convo started with telling the family about Luci.

The conversation was between Julie and Rosa. Anita did the recap and you posted it for her. It occurred to toward the end of the recap and has the heading of "Inside the Mansion".
The only reason I am obsessing about the scene is that could provide a clue about Julie and Rosa's relationship. I just hope it is not a clue about history repeating itself when the she-devils find out about Luci's bebe.

Madelaine--This is the calm before the stormsssss, eh? Glad you got this episode. Good work, amiga.
@Rosemary--Wednesday's reference to Julie being up to her neck referred mainly to the Library Attack on Luciana, which Julie participated in. She could also be referring to everything Julie and Gagme found out at the cemetery and kept quiet about. I don't think Julie really knows the extent of Rosa's involvement, but once she learned about Linares being Luciana's father and keeping quiet about it implicated her further.
Deep down, I think Rosa la Loca does know that this bebe is Rod's. That's why she'll go with a pregnant Gagme and for Rod not to know--evva, just in case. (And with the whole world knowing, just how long does she think this secret will stay hidden--thus the need to deny, deny, deny.)
ITA that she is pairing up the Max-Aurora bebe and the Luci-Not Rod bebe as a way to continue her state of denial. To revise her belief would be too great a task. She's invested too much time and effort in maintaining it.
She is one COLD PESCADO when it comes to Max. I guess her feelings toward him changed when she suspected Max of his affair with Aurora--after Pato, but before Hanna (thanks, whoever it was, for mentioning the photograph without Hanna). It's entirely probable the last time they had relations was when Hanna was conceived--and that might have been at Max's insistence after a long drought. No wonder she treats her daughter differently. But in the Latin American culture, daughters are always held on a shorter leash than the sons.
At times like these, it would be nice to have more of Max and Rosa's backstory. All we can do is speculate.
Vivi--thanks for the list of secrets. It'll be interesting to watch how they unfold.
That's the one thing great about this novela--every character is connected in a believable way to the main story and the secrets.
May I say that I'm totally into Claudio Linares? I see why Melissa is so captivated by him. I hope nothing happens to him and hope Melissa is let down easy--better for nothing between them to get started. Those "worship from afar" fantasies are easier to get over than getting physically involved and restart after a break-up.

Something occurred to me today about Rosaelena: Her tendency to transfer the hatred from a peer to her daughter is not unusual.
Abismo de Pasion: Carmina transfers her hatred of Estefania to Elisa.
En Nombre del Amor: Carlota transfers her hatred and contempt for Macarena to Paloma.
La Esposa Virgen: Aurelia transfers her hatred of Mercedes (seen only in flashback) to Mathilde.
Note how they're all BSC?
