Abismo de pasión #133 9/19/12: Dam/Elisa finally find their circle of love(Fantasy Island, anyone?) while the hen house is out of control back in La Ermita... does anyone there work at all anymore?
Labels: abismo
Damian learned he is insecure about Elisa's love for him*.
Alfie learned that Estefania "was" Rosendo's lover.
Lupe learned Alfie has a blockage in her heart**
Paolo learned everyone wants him to hit the road jack and never come back
Lucio, Lolita & Gael learned Elisa is "ok."
Paloma is learning even though she loves Gael, he can't be with her while obsessed with Elisa
I would like to learn: Did Paloma return that big ring of Enrique's?
*I don't blame Damian for being insecure about Elisa's love, since a) he robbed her at gunpoint from her wedding to Gael; b) she was brandishing guns and screaming at him that she hated him & wanted to marry Gael only a few hours ago; c) after declaring that Gael intrigues her as a woman & that she wanted to marry Gael, she has sex with him. And since Alfonsina & Florencia have tricked & deceived him all his life, how does he know that Elisa isn't doing the same thing? Maybe that's why they should have waited a while to have sex but I'm quite sure Elisa will follow in Paloma's footsteps & end up embarazada.
**Alfonsina has a blockage in her heart, literally & figuratively and some drastic action will be needed to unblock it.
I don't blame Damian for being insecure, either, Anon207. How INDEED does Damian know to trust Elisa? So you think she will end up preggers? Wow, that would be complicated. Elisa and Paloma both pregnant...I can't imagine either one as a mother.
Thanks again Marta.
EJ
Marta, do you think that Paloma will really leave L'Ermita? We know that Gael really left—for about 2 days. Maybe Paloma will do the same. Julia asked yesterday how Paloma would take care of a baby. I have no idea of what kind of a job she could get.
Both Elisa & Damian need to stop being victims. If they want to be together, they need to declare that, then be together. But they're too invested in being "victims" (just like with the Damian/Elisa sibling story...they had blood tests...which should have shown at the time if they were too closely related. All Damian/Elisa had to do was go back to Merida & get a DNA test...but they were too invested in being victims that the thought never occurred to them).
Paloma & Gael need to get over their obsessions with Gael/Elisa. Just because you want somebody doesn't mean they have to want you back. Doesnt' work that way. And both Paloma & Gael are due some punishment for cheating on Elisa. Gael just wanted to have his cake & eat it too. I have no doubt he would have gone creeping for sex with Paloma once he got bored with Elisa just laying there thinking of habaneros...and Paloma would willingly let him come creeping, too.
Watching Dam and Elisa in a clinch all arms and legs entwined, I was wondering how long did it take for them to come to an intimate and amorous position without even an arm or leg touching....lol.

Altho how did he know Paolo would be in the cafe, but it did look suspicious, especially Gabino's grin when the two men left.

You know, if Dama nd Elisa would just talk to each other and tell each other things, they wouldn't be so torn up with confusion, jealousy and anger. It seems like they did the deed without: 1) Elisa telling Dam she lied about doing it with Gael and loving Gael; 2) Dam telling Elisa that Flor was a liar who lies and is no longer his wife or baby-mama; and 3) Elisa telling Dam that she read Flor's letter and is only now changing her attitude about getting it on because she knows he's a free man, plus #1 above.
So they have sex with each other without any of this stuff being cleared up, and before the straw mat is even cool, Dam is having doubts about Elisa. Good grief!
Now that Alfie's locked and loaded again and gunning for Elisa as never before, our couple will have to be particularly strong to withstand the upcoming challeneges. I bet they fold once again at the first sign of trouble or appearance of "rivals."
I'm not even going to talk about Gael's hypocrisy. I can't stand that he's playing the wounded/betrayed innocent. (Even Pal was feeling sorry for HIM!) I just want someone to spill the beans already that Pal is pregnant with Gael's baby. Come on Quique! Do us all a favor.
The recap was wonderful. You conveyed all of the drama and romance beautifully. "Carmina at his feet like a door mat (weird to see her in this position when she has always called the shots on her relationships") was excellent but my favorite line was "Gabino playing with a shotgun (ready to kill Elisa and/or Dam? or maybe ready to do what everyone else believes Augie did... put an end to his migraines)". Perfect.
So now that the fake tickets have been served, I suspect the only way Alfie could be convinced otherwise is if the real ones surfaced. As they were "buried" with Ing, then someone must have retrieved them before the grave was sealed. That has to be when Horacio will surface...The real tickets are the only definitive proof that it was Carmina.
Now that Alfie is hell bent on destroying Elisa (even further), I don't feel there is any hope for her redemption. Carlos??
Anon, great list of what we learned.
Most troublesome lines of the night: "Ramona says you are right, you will never be happy as long as Gael loves someone else, Elisa is tattooed in his gut…Only death would make Gael stop loving her." I hope Ramona is wrong. For once.
I thought David's acting was great last night - in both his "sick" and romanace scenes. He can be very appealing.
Think Paolo has ceased to exist on this earth. And Marta, ITA that poor Flo now has no one. Let's hope Enrique will forgive her.
Diana
Ramona says you are right, you will never be happy as long as Gael loves someone else, Elisa is tattooed in his gut…Only death would make Gael stop loving her
So they have sex with each other without any of this stuff being cleared up, and before the straw mat is even cool, Dam is having doubts about Elisa. Good grief!
back when we were discussing La Mentira in '98-99, a whole discussion went long on whether Veronica could have lost her virginity from riding horses... so maybe here it is the same... either that or Dam is so med-heavy he would not notice if he 'took' her virginity... so it is possible that at this point, after they do the horizontal, he would still doubt whether she did it with Gael first or not...
I agree that Dam has room for doubts about which Elisa was telling the truth... but does he need to wait until right after they do the horizontal and they have a 'love you/love you forever' vowing session laying down? so he had his cake, and THEN questioned the baking process/recipe?
"Just because you want somebody doesn't mean they have to want you back." Thanks Anon207. The incessant whining by Paloma, and now my poor Gael ( a shadow of the man we thought he would be) is getting on my last nerve. Frankly, I would look Gael in the face and say " think about it dude, when did she ever declare her undying love with real meaning in her eyes. You really think Dam would be "holding her against her will"? Do the words, you dodged a bullet mean anything?" Of course, unfortunately, the writers have landed him with a pregnant Pathetic, so he goes from the frying pan to the fire. Poor guy.
Now, what peeves me about Elisa hanging up on Lucio is that DAM WAS RUNNING A FEVER. Such undying love she doesn't try to get the guy medical attention, just some aspirin she picks up? Stoopid, meet Stoopider.
Paolo - Dead Man Walking.
Where oh where is Horacio??
Alfi-- I see a hospital major operation looming. They wouldn't kill her off would they--or would they? Pride goeth before the fall sort of thing-refuses to get help and then Bam!
Still what, about a month to go? Gees....
" . . . letting a cardiologist examine her is not on her bucket list, so no go."
Oh puh-leeze, then die already and get it over with. I would not be inclined to lift a finger for anyone with that attitude. ~rolls eyes~
HORACIO has not been seen for a while. Maybe he has been spying on Gabs, will 'out' him on Ingrid's burial and further redeem himself?
the Bouvier Supremes, --- BwaHahahahaaaa
I loooooved Lolita's exit from Carmina's house.
When Dam was dizzy, I wondered if he might be pregnant.
"I have no doubt he would have gone creeping for sex with Paloma once he got bored with Elisa just laying there thinking of habaneros
ROFLOL!!! "Lie back and think of England … er … habaneros, dear."
Ann-NYC - I interpreted that Paolo/Gabino/two thugs scene the same way: Gab's hit men.
Right now, the only sympathetic characters on my list are Lolita, Braulio, Maru, and the horses.
The rest could just go fall into a big abismo and I would. not. miss. them.
Thank you marta for the wonderful recap! Great snark and better than the episode itself.
Diana, I still have no doubt that Alfonsina will be redeemed (even more so with the fake airline tickets) but with her heart problem, I'm afraid that she won't be with us when this ends. If Doc Tovar can't fix it, then it's really serious.
Well duh, I thought when those two guys got up it was because they were intimidated by Gabino. It didn't even occur to me that they are going to take care of Paolo for Gabino.
I really enjoyed watching Carmina toy with Gael's brain. She is an expert.
Carlos
Marta-I believe there are 164 episodes. If we get 5 a week, that's 6 weeks. Usually they start the notices for ultimas semanas when there are 4 weeks left.
Interesting comments today about our four main protagonists. ITA they are mostly messed up. Gael's characters especially has really veered off course.
Right now the characters that really interest me are Ramona and Padre Lupe. They both know some important truths but refuse to spill the beans. I love the character of Padre Lupe and basically he is a kind and good man, but he has been holding back some MAJOR information for many years. The dude is seriously weak in that area. Just sayin'.
What? More time changes for our telenovela? I just checked TV Guide online and it says Abismo is preempted tonight with Amor Bravio airing at 10:00. But I checked my Tivo and it shows no change in scheduling. Bah, guess we'll have to wait and see.
I would agree that Quiqui and Flor have the best shot of making it as a couple, IF Flor wasn't half of that couple. Of the 6 young adults, only 1 is not nuts.
Alfi needs more than a rigorous treatment plan. A whole heart transplant would serve her well.
Dam's insecurities remind me of Assgusto's.
Daisynjay...I think Elisa also got antibiotics for Damian, not just aspirin. She left with three different bottles and one of those he had to take until it was all gone, even if he already felt better-- and that's the standard advice for antibiotics.
But whatever, I'm so bored with these two I didn't even watch their love scene, just closed my eyes and listened to the song because IT at least has not lost its charm whereas this couple clearly has...for me anyway.
I thought there was finally a bit of chemistry in the romance scene, although I realized it was the lighting and camera work and most especially the music doing the heavy lifting. These two characters still don't connect well. How much real intimacy can they possibly have when they refuse to communicate honestly?
Also, I am just going to tell myself that they each took some off-camera swims and that the hut rental guy provided toothbrushes...because they'd been there for two days already in the same clothes, in a sweaty climate, after a long horse ride, and Dam was sick to boot. Ick.
Gabino is still my favorite character to watch. He may be evil, but at least he isn't pathetic.
Anon 207, your list was inspired today.
Carlos, your Doc Tovar references crack me up.
Vivi in DC, can I just tell you that your Arlington neighbor TOTALLY agrees with everything you post each day? You are always dead on with your observations!
Gabino's "aging" in this TN has been the most difficult for me to swallow. If anything, he looks YOUNGER than when he found Dam and Elisa when they were children. So the idea of him being their elder is a stretch. Secondly, they aren't 10 years old anymore. Unless he's going to bring them back at gunpoint (which may be where we're going), why in the world would they go with him. And Alphonsina has been moaning for days that she wants to see her son before she "dies". Does she really think bringing him back at gunpoint, by his nemesis, is the road to mending their fences? For a smart lady, she's stoopid too.
Perfect recap, Marta, as always! Thank you so much! :)
Katy
Doris, yes! You nail best quip of the day!
Thanks, Marta! This is terrific. Like Blue Lass, I wondered just WHOSE death is necessary for Gael to Wash That Chamaca Right Out of His Hair.
In El Clon, the in-laws gathered outside the newlyweds' bedroom and waited for the son to wave a blood-stained sheet in their faces. I could imagine Alfie among a crowd like that.
Daisynjay, I thought Elisa got antibiotics for Dam. You don't need a prescription for them in Mexico and the pharmacist often is available for consultation and diagnosis. It's pretty common for people to leave physicians out of the treatment loop. (And consequently, overuse of antibiotics is even more of a problem there than it is here.)
Carmina ends up with her head in a lot of laps, doesn't she? Hmmm....
Dolores always comes through! I loved the Contemptuous Key Drop. Perfect.
"Now that Alfie's locked and loaded again and gunning for Elisa " -- Great turn of phrase, Vivi!
Several comments on Carmina with her head in Gab's lap, but nobody mentioned her biting him on the inner thigh. I'd be a little more careful in his, ah, position.
Marta, your comment about a cardiologist visit not on Fina's bucket list really made me laugh, too. Hopefully she won't kick said bucket before Doc Tovar works his magic on her.
OMG you guys are right about Carmina always having her head in someone's lap. Funny!
You all have been great with the comments. Doris yours was excellent! I too am bored with the leads and with cathx about deception on this TN. Just like we saw 2 fake babies from the same woman now we get the same villains after 2 of the brain-challenged protagonists I've seen.
What dumbfounds me about the fake plane tickets is that Gabino had the real ones, and he buried them with Ingrid. Do the fake ones have someone else's name? Otherwise, why would he rat out Carmina?
Dam's insecurities remind me of Assgusto's.
It is often said that a woman marries her father and a man marries his mother. On some level (YMMV), there is truth in that.
If Doc Tovar can't fix it, then it's really serious.
LOL , Carlos
marta - I am not going to watch the Telerisa/Meh-ia version of LHDM. Boycott city.
What an hysterical mess this novela is. I agree with those who are liking Salvador’s performance, he’s kinda/sorta stealing the show. It’s funny when he calls Carmina “ojitos”, he has “ojitos”(and much more!) too.
Just a question, I noticed yesterday that Florencia said something like, “I can’t have a baby with Damian.” Does that mean that she can have a baby with someone else? I thought there was a uterine problem. Did anyone else notice that nuance?
Ditto what everyone has said today..........
Thanks Marta! - great recap of a very annoying episode.
Is Damian upset with Elisa because when he slept with her he found out shes not virgin which means she really slept with Gael and gave him everything??
